hi i’m back! i had to take a much needed break <3 trying to post every game when i was so behind got to me and it wasn't fun to watch anymore. because of this, i’ll only be posting special games (like when the guys play each other), record breaking games, and reslly any game i have the motivation to (like if it's chaotic and quinn/trev get penalties). i’m not pushing myself anymore i hope y'all understand🤍

and because there was a lot of tense feelings after this game for devils fans, i decided to make this post *mostly* about the millers

yourusername welcome back to my postgame penalty box update show: hughes palooza MILLER EXTRAVAGANZA EDITION!

THE colin miller, number 24 on the devils, number 6 in my heart (his number on the stars iydk), scored not only his first goal of the season, 🚨BUT HIS SECOND GOAL, TOO🚨 pop OFF step dad!!! congrats on being third star of the game!

and OUR miller, mr. jt, ceo of shaking his head at my nonsense (he loves me), scored two goals 1 minute and 4 seconds apart!

WE GOT A MILLER DICK TRICK EVERYBODY! two from jt, and two from colin! 2 + 2 = 4!!

✨now for the accomplishments✨

my best friend, my lifeline, loser of the postgame mario kart competition, quintin jerome hughes, has best the canucks franchise record for most multi point games by a defenseman last night with his 69th (😏) game! I'M SO UNBELIEVABLY PROUD OF YOU, HUGGY BEAR! this is the second record (that isn't his own) he's broken this season, and we're not even halfway through! he also has the most points from all defenseman in the league currently! (10th overall!)

and demmer had his 100th career win tonight! we love a milestone!

and luke played, too! he was definitely there!

i’m so proud of the valiant effort and fight everyone on the ice put into the game tonight! especially colin! i love colin! go colin! i’ll be mailing jack your first goal trophy!

yourusername hi! the devils put in an insane amount of effort and came back from a three goal deficit at the beginning of the third. the canucks basically doubled their amount of offensive zone time and yet the devils still pushed through all their adversity and was so close in the end. you're dismissing all of the other players great work and play by claiming that just jack alone would've changed that. yeah, he probably would've made an impact, but the canucks have been in the top ten of the league all season and nico daws still held his own pretty well and stopped a good portion of their shots against a team that was top of the league for a hot second and was 5th coming into the game. every devils player played to the best of their abilities and there were some unlikely heroes, another thing you're dismissing. jack is my brother and i love him, but he is not the only player on the devils. it's a team. a team that came so close in the end with almost half of the amount of sog. don't dismiss the rest of the team. be proud of them all.

jatp high school au : luke, reggie, alex, bobby, and willie are in their senior year. with graduation steadily approaching, willie finally gathered the courage to ask alex out. it didn’t go as planned.

luke: alex here was wondering if we could go to wilson’s party this weekend.

alex: seriously dude? just admit that you both want to meet bobby!

reggie: don’t expose us like that!

flynn: skater boy invited you to carrie’s party??

luke: willie asked him on a date!

alex: it’s not a date, it’s a party!

reggie: uh he asked you to go with him but you insisted on taking us with you.

julie: alex! tell me you didn’t!

reggie: oh he did!

luke: and the dude looked like someone broke his skateboard in half!

flynn: that’s it. operation willex will commence this weekend.

Julie basically takes care of him (soup, lays with him, get meds washcloth for fever forehead etc) until he's better a week later (even with his whiny moments 😆) please”

Julie had been checking her phone all day, expecting to see a message from Luke. They had planned to meet up once she was off work to go get dinner and hang for a little.

They were both busy working, granted they did get to see each other during band practice but they hadn’t had anytime just to themselves recently.

Julie missed her boyfriend and was getting anxious by his lack communication. She had texted him in the morning and on her lunch break, but she got nothing in return.

She kept checking the clock wanting her shift at the record store to end quickly so she could go check on Luke. Usually he was the worst when she was working, always texting her telling her to leave work and spend time with him. So it was really weird that she had gotten no messages from him.

Finally 4 PM came and she was able to leave. She was quick to hop in her car and make her way to the boys shared apartment hoping to find Luke alive and well there.

She made it there in record time, most likely breaking a few speeding laws but she was worried.

Julie knocked on the front door a few times and waited a few minutes but she got no response. After waiting a while, she decided that she should find the boys spare key that they did not hide well.

She grabbed the key from under the fake rock they had placed on their porch and made her way inside. She was met with complete silence, it seemed like none of the boys were home.

Weird.

She makes her way around the apartment, stopping at Luke’s door. She was now nervous. She creeks the door open and finds the mop of her boyfriend’s hair peeking up from his pillows and blankets.

She can hear him faintly snoring which brings a smile to her face. She goes to sit next to his sleeping figure, running her hands softly through his hair.

Luke starts to stir in his sleep at the new contact. He rolls over slightly and peeks through one eye, he smiles at the sight of his girlfriend sitting next to him on his bed.

“Hi.” He whispers out with his morning voice.

“Hi,” Julie says back quietly, “How long have you been sleeping?”

Luke looks around confused, he feels dizzy and has an ache in his head.

“Uh since last night I think. There’s a chance I woke up this morning but I don’t know, what time is it?”

“It’s 4:30 PM baby, you slept all day!” Julie then leans down a little to place her hand to his forehead.

He is burning up and most definitely has a fever. She knows he is sick; she should have guessed it. After years of dating she should know that him not responding all day most likely means he is sleeping and not feeling well.

“Baby you have a fever!”

“Oh so I definitely woke up this morning not feeling well. I thought if I went back to sleep for a little, I would feel better for a date but I guess not.” He says while trying to get up out of bed.

Julie softly pushes him back down, not wanting him to get up out of bed.

“You need to rest, you’re burning up.”

“No, no, no, I’m fine Julie! Let’s go on that date.” He says back trying to get back up but the look on Julie’s face stops him in his tracks.

“Fine I’ll rest. I just don’t want to ruin our date.” He pouts, which causes Julie to smile softly.

“You’re not ruining our date, I just wanted to spend time with you and we still get to do that,” both of them smile at each other, “Now you rest I will be right back.”

Julie is quick to go look for some pain killers and medicine. She also wets a cloth to make it damp and cold so Luke can hold it to his head. She also finds some Powerade, grateful Alex’s addiction to them in this scenario.

“Here.” She says as she walks back into the room and hands Luke the medicine and Powerade. He quickly swallows them down.

Julie again sits next to him and places the cloth to his head, Luke sighs in relief the cooling feelings feels good against the heat his body is producing and helps calm the pain from his headache.

Julie can visibly see Luke relax after.

“Do you want anything to eat?” She asks after a few minutes of silence. Luke shakes his head no.

“I’m okay, I feel a little queasy right now so I don’t want food.”

“Okay, but you will have to eat at some point.”

“I know, I know.” Luke laughs softly as his girlfriend’s stern words knowing that he would have to listen to her.

“Can we just cuddle for a while?” He asks, moving is blankets to let Julie slide underneath them and next to him.

“Of course.” She smiles as she does so, cuddling into Luke’s side, letting him put his head in her neck and nuzzle in.

She places a kiss to his forehead.

“You missed.”

“Excuse me?”

“You missed.” Luke says again this time puckering his lips.

“Oh not a chance Patterson,” Julie says laughing and shoving his face away, “I am not getting sick once you’re better you can have your kiss.”

Luke pouts at her words but knows he won’t win this fight and just settles back into her.

“Thanks for taking care of me.” Luke smiles up at Julie.

“Of course, anytime!” Julie says and runs her hands through his hair.

“I love ya.”

“I love you too Patterson.” Julies hand still running through Luke’s hair lulling him to sleep.

That’s how the two of them spend the rest of their night, entangled in one another’s arms. Luke already feeling better just in his girlfriend’s presence, Julie was the best medicine there ever was.

Reggie knows he has a communicative smile. Or at least he has doubts about it. Or maybe it’s just Luke? But he doesn’t have much hope of it. Luke plugs his guitar and takes his mic. A mic he uses more than his, but it won’t last. Or he thinks so. Anyway, it would hurt in the end one day. Luke has worked on new lyrics.

“i’m sure it’s amazing!”

He’s such an amazing songwriter. That’s not hard for Reggie to say that because a lot of things about Luke amaze him. He looks back at his bass, checking if it’s tuned, and he doesn’t see how Luke looks at his own wrist, but when he looks back at him, he was looking at him with a curious look. Reggie doesn’t get it first and feels a bit worried.

“what’s up?”

Then he realised he saw his own wrist. His eyes widdens a bit, and he quickly looks away before panicking, red on his cheeks, he clears his throats, faking checking his bass tune again. Then, Luke offers him to help him. Reggie is not the best songwriter, and Luke always reproaches him for his country songs.

“I’d love to dude. Unless you're afraid that I put country in it!“

He gives Luke a soft laugh, trying to chill himself in the process. Obviously he won’t ruin Luke’s song with country. And it doesn’t work at all. Because Luke tells him the name of the song, giving him his songbook, that Reggie takes carefully. ‘Your name’. Sounds like a love song. Luke doesn’t usually write love songs. And he bets it’s about his soulmate. He clears his throat again, a bit uneasy, but try to hide it again. He’s sure Luke must have seen his strange behavior since he arrived. He tries to joke again.

“Oh, that sounds like a love song! Who are you and where is Luke Patterson?”

He gives Luke his best smile, or the best he actually can, still not as comfortable as he used to, and red.

“who’s the lucky one?”

Luke smile got a little bigger at his friend's words. Wherever he got a compliment from Reggie, he feels his heart making a looping inside his chest. He just hopes he isn't blushing, but he is sure Reggie wouldn't notice. He hopes, any ways.

“Yeah, thank you Reg. I’ve got some good inspirations in my life.”

He looked his face then bit his lower lip, frowning a little. He doesn't know how to talk about it. Well. Hell, he isn't good discussing about such things with people; it's extremely personal and people talk about their marks, you don't ask about them. Especially if it's with Reggie. He is generally good with words, but now his vocabulary would make him loose against a toddler.

"Well... I - don't know. Nothing, I guess.”

He looked at him, waiting for his answer. Luke doesn't usually ask for help when it comes to song writing — this includes Julie too. So it must mean something for him. It does. Luke wants to express his feelings; he wanted Reginald to grasp them clearly. He laughed and then takes his most serious face. As serious as he could set it when he actually wanted to laugh.

“Great. But try to make Country out of my song, and I'll - I'll tell Tía Victoria and Ray that you don't eat vegetables at all.”

Then he smiled, clearly showing he is joking. Or maybe he isn't. But it's Reggie, he couldn't be angry at him and his puppy eyes for more than two days. He looked at him carefully as he read the words he has written on the paper, feeling nervous. Well, maybe he shouldn't have done that but then; it's too late so he has to work with it. He looked at him and nodded slowly, feeling his cheeks heating up. He is certainly blushing. At that moment he nodded and smiles shyly. Not his usually self.

“Well, it kind f is ?” He asked softly as he looked elsewhere , his hands comes to stroke the back of his head. he laughed a little after the last part. “My name’s Frank, I got rid of his body in the hallway behind the hot-dog vendor. It's me, you dork! I kind of wrote love songs a few times but this is the first one I as so - clear about it, I guess. The words here are direct, there is no subtexts.”

He blushes a little more and then he clears his throat. He couldn't even use the heat as a reason for why he is heating up; he is wearing a sleeveless light shirt. He doesn't answer, just take his base and looked at his friend.

“I've been stuck on this for a few days. I don't know how to go further, that’s where I need you input. You can also help or change the melody if you think it would work better.”

He then started to sing, it was a soft tone and a simple melody at first, slow and going on the light notes.

«The story started playing on my mind. They say love's free as wind. Coming up, going on. Asking myself what's going on.»

He smirked at his own words, carefully looking at his wristband softly. He looked at Reggie with a gleam on his eyes. He didn't averse his gaze from his bandmate as it got a little more rhythmed; but still with a more soothing tone, but heavy meaning, like it follows someone's feelings.

«Heart beating up fast. Unexpectedly. This earth's so vast. But my beloved boy, you're the one for me. Your name's forever on me. Baby, why can’t you see. Wherever I’m near, my heart got a blast.»

He doesn't look away from Reggie, waiting for his reaction.

He takes his bass. Like he thought, as soon as he arrives, Luke wants to start. Like his real soulmate would be music. He won’t be surprised to see notes on his wrist honestly. It would be less painfull actually. The passion they share for music is one of the best things they have. And Reggie won’t trade that for anything in the world. He connects his bass to his amp and takes place near his mic.

“Same song as yesterday? Or you spend the night on another one?”

They work on a lot of songs. Luke writes a lot of songs. They usually try them all, make arrangment an then decide which ones are the best. The one they were working on was good. At least Reggie loved it. But he loves almost every song Luke writes. All but Crooked Teeth. He used to love that, but now that he knows it’s about him, he doesn’t. But the fact is that he absolutly doesn’t get any subtext from it. Anyway, there isn’t any subtext in this song. It’s just a song. But yeah. Luke writes about him. So why doesn’t he like that song? It’s a good one. For a friend. But really, Reggie is just an oblivious dork. Because Luke doesn’t even try to hide his feelings. Luke might be a bit oblivious too, because Reggie is sure Alex already knows. In fact, he might have blush more than a few times and maybe embarrass himself, showing his feelings without wanting it, and without acknowledging them. When Reggie attempts to hide them he fails, and when Luke doesn’t, Reggie still doesn’t get them.

Luke doesn’t know if he should be glad or frustrated as Reggie didn’t seem to take the hint, but yet again he seems like he never receives any of it. He really should be glad; he wouldn’t sever his friendship over that especially if Reggie have another Soulmate than him. Thinking of Soulmate, he never asked him if he has one. Well, they never talked about that together either. Nor even when he was dating Alex. He laughed gently at his words and nodded. The grin on his face made him smile. He loves that about Reggie; his smile is the sunshine that lightens the room and makes people become happy and smiles too. He doesn’t answer and nodded as he prepares his own base, connecting it and taking his mic. He looked at Reggie and shakes his head slowly.

“I worked on some new lyrics. They aren’t 100% ready. We can work on both if you want.”He added as he finally takes his place, only a few feet away from Reggie.

He looked at his wristband, well his guitar but his eyes twitched a little bit in the direction of his Soulmate’s name and then glared at Reggie’s way and noticed the wristband who was showing as his sleeve moved towards the end. He frowned and looked at his mate’s face. Has he found his soulmate? A feeling of hurt cross his heart but it disappeared as soon as it comes. It is possible he was injured. Alex is right, he has to gather a little courage and man-up to announce it clearly. Which he is terribly bad at.

“You know what. You can help me with the lyrics? I have some blocks and need help on this.” He takes his lyrics book and gives it to his friend.“The song’s name is Your name.”

Reggie wasn’t sure. But it was before this morning. And it sucks. He knows he like girls. And maybe he likes boys too. Or a less one. But it wasn’t clear then. Now he’s sure. He had really a crush on Luke. It was already pretty obvious even if he won’t admit it, he was almost sure he had one. But now he has a proof of that written on his wrist. And he starts panicking a bit because he’s also quite sure Luke will never have his, and he’s now going to leave with an unrequired soulmark. But the worst is that he will have to hide it as long as he can to his bandmates. He’s about to see them almost every day. Alex probably already has doubts. But Luke… Well, that sucks. He tries his best to hide it under wristbands and cover it with his red flannel. It won’t be too obvious, but he’s still a bit anxious. He’s supposed to meet Luke at the studio for rehearsal today. He wasn’t late yet, but he really has to go now.

He reaches the garage and opens the door to see Luke, already here. He tries to stay cool, but Luke knows him well now. He just hopes he’s casual enough. He waves at him with his bright smile and joy.

“Hi Luke! Ready for the day?”

Luke’s always ready. But for now, Reggie wasn’t sure he was. But seeing Luke always makes him smile and he’s always rather comfortable with him, and he ends up less stressed than before, but maybe a bit sad. At least he can enjoy the present and those precious moments he spends with Luke until he finds his own soulmate. He will know it one day anyway, but in fact, Reggie is really oblivious himself.

A soft smile appeared on his face as his fingertips caresses the name of the person he is in love with. He started remembering how he had felt when the name had appeared for the first time on his skin. He had been mortified when he had read the name fort the first time, not knowing how he should react or how the person who was his soulmate would either. He just knew such thing could have had a lot of repercussions on his life. 

Luke’s day started early - anyone’s would if they got sunrays directly on their eyes and face, but it never bothered him, - with a shower. After that, he had started making himself a breakfast before he went to the garage to meet with Reggie. As he does, his eyes landed on his wrist, exactly on the sweetly written name on his skin. His Soulmate.

It wasn’t the soulmate part he was afraid of. Really. It was the fact that it could have caused him the person he cares about the most. Which isn’t Alex because Alex’s his brother and it would have been weird. He had known from what he had seen that Soulmates didn’t automatically ended-up together all their life or happy together, as much as non-soulmates couples lives their live togehter and are as happy as they could - like his parents, but he rather don’t talk about them. He couldn’t exactly tell the person he loves that he loves them and they are Soulmates. How could he go to his friends saying his name is on his wrist? Reggie could start acting weirdly around him or worst – feel bad and oblige himself to love him back. That's something he would never allow in a million years. 

Luke isn't trying to hide that fact either; he wears sleeveless shirts most of the time. With wristbands but that's not the point. He wouldn't lie about that, bit he wouldn't go and talk about it with anyone who didn't ask either. Which is why Alex already know about it. It happens that his friend had known about it before himself. Which would have been funny if the two weren’t dating at that time, fortunately his relationship with Alex remained the same and evolved to more brotherhood than just friendship. He is sure at least two other people does too.

He got brought back from his thoughts as his father walked on the kitchen, ready to go to work. Luke ignored him a little; they had another fight few nights ago and it's still a little tense there. He only nodded as he takes his backpack, his guitar and the BCT sandwich he had managed to make before heading to his bike to go to the studio.

There, he managed to eat then got the time to scratch some lyrics before Reggie, the person he was thinking of, had entered the room. He smiled at him but then noticed something unusual about his friend's actions. He just couldn’t put his finger on it. Luke thought about it for a few seconds then decided that he will ask later or when he would feel like Reggie wouldn't run away if he does. He offers him his smile as he got up from the couch, putting his guitar carefully against it. 

“Hey mate, how are you? Well, I’m always ready for you, am I not?” 

Well, yeah. Luke isn't trying to show it, but he isn't trying very hard. That's what Alex had said, any ways. He had been calling Reggie Mate for about a year already, While he calls Alex. Alex, or bro sometimes. The thing is, Reggie is a little oblivious, but he isn't stupid, just he doesn't notice things that are in front of him and seem to camp on his believes. And Luke likes flirting with him a lot, because it makes him feel a little confident; generally Reggie makes him feel nervous when he can read him like an open book.

“Let’s start, then.”
