Supporters of former President Donald Trump are calling for former U.S. Representative Liz Cheney to be jailed for treason for her work on the House committee that investigated the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Cheney was vice-chair of the panel that concluded in December last year that Trump had engaged in a "multi-part conspiracy" to overturn the lawful results of the 2020 election and failed to act to stop his supporters from attacking the Capitol.

On Tuesday, Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz and honorary “Florida man” Rep. Elise Stefanik, and 64 House Republicans presented a resolution to declare that Donald Trump “did not engage in insurrection or rebellion” related to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol. Gaetz began the press conference by saying “We are here today to authoritatively express that President Trump did not commit an insurrection,” More importantly, Gaetz made it clear that he plans to use this as a MAGA purity test. After thanking Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio for filing a companion bill in the Senate, Gaetz said, “And now it's time for members of the House and Senate to show where they stand on this question.” And just like that, Gaetz’s remarks were followed by a series of Republicans praising dear leader Trump and saying how the insurrection on Jan. 6 was a concoction by “leftists.”

Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is demanding answers after it was revealed that federal investigators instructed financial institutions to search for terms such as “MAGA” and “Trump” when looking through customer data following the Capitol riots of January 6, 2021.
Jordan, in his capacity as the chairman of the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, is investigating why the Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCen) asked banks to conduct this type of search. He is demanding testimony from the former director of FinCen’s Strategic Operations Division, Noah Bishoff, as part of their probe into what he termed an “alarming” case of “pervasive financial surveillance” that appears to have been performed “on the basis of protected political speech.”
In a letter to Bishoff, Jordan explained: “The Committee and Select Subcommittee have obtained documents indicating that following January 6, 2021, FinCEN distributed materials to financial institutions that, among other things, outline the ‘typologies’ of various persons of interest and provide financial institutions with suggested search terms and Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) for identifying transactions on behalf of federal law enforcement.”
He added that they were told to search payment messages in the app Zelle for terms like “MAGA” and “TRUMP.”
Religious text purchases also considered a flag for potential Jan. 6 participation

Truth Social, former president Donald’s Trump’s clone of Twitter, has a fraction of the users of competitors like Reddit and X. The company has never turned a profit, and just happens to be the place where Trump is currently posting.
But on the Nasdaq, the stock exchange where Truth Social became a publicly traded company today, there's a different story: Truth Social has become a certified meme stock. Trump supporters seem to have conflated their support for the former president with the stock itself, and are buying en masse.
The stock quickly rose more than 40 percent after being listed and trades under a ticker of Trump’s initials, DJT. The company is now valued at more than $6.8 billion. The value, however, could change quickly; the stock was so volatile that it temporarily halted soon after it was listed. The company’s financial performance has been underwhelming. It posted $3.3 million in revenue and lost $49 million in the first three quarters of 2023, according to regulatory filings.
Still, Trump’s fans have posted on Reddit, X, and Truth Social about how they plan to hold the stock in defiance of traditional investing logic. Previous meme stocks like GameStop and cryptocurrency culture have helped provide the script, but the rhetorical formula is simple: Short sellers will perish, this stock is going to the moon, and don’t sell no matter what.
“Let’s go baby! Trump 2024 to the moon,” one user posted on Reddit, followed by the rocket ship emoji.
In another Reddit thread, stockholders discussed at what price they would sell shares in the company. “At least waiting for the election win,” one user posted, with the tag Diamond DWAC, a reference to “diamond hands,” a desire to hold a stock despite volatility.
“$150 maybe … but probably waiting for the launch of TMTG+ streaming and also stories videos,” another replied. “Or when our founder is The Leader of The Free World (again) and most reported on person on the world with the most attention on him and his platform. So maybe never‼️”
Reddit user deepfuckingbagholder speculated that the company could eventually be worth 1 trillion dollars. When another user replied, saying that valuation would be virtually impossible, deepfuckingbagholder wrote back: “This stock represents the value of Trump’s brand and I personally believe it can achieve that valuation.”
Truth Social is, predictability, a hotbed of conspiracy theories. Election denialism, vaccine skepticism, and the great replacement theory are all prominently featured on the site. The company has also been mired in controversy since it began, following Trump’s ban from Twitter after the January 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol. A former senior employee filed a whistleblower complaint with the SEC, and other former employees have sued the company, alleging breach of contract. Shareholders voted to take the company public last week, merging Trump Media and Technology Group with a publicly traded holding company, Digital World Acquisition Corp.
The outsize valuation of Truth Social has made Trump incredibly rich. His net worth rose $4 billion to $6.5 billion, making him one of the world’s 500 richest people, according to calculations by Bloomberg News. Trump is restricted from selling shares in the company for about six months, so his net worth could still tank, however, if the price of Truth Social falls.
On Truth Social, one user said a prayer. “Bless all the patriots invested in #DJT,” GothamGal wrote. “Bless this investment, and make us successful so that we may do your will and bring glory to you. Bless and protect our president DJT, and our country. In Jesus name.”

("It's Your Money" Not His) "Since leaving office in 2021, former President Donald J. Trump has spent more than $100 million on lawyers and other costs related to fending off various investigations, indictments and his coming criminal trials, according to a New York Times review of federal records.
The remarkable sum means that Mr. Trump has averaged more than $90,000 a day in legal-related costs for more than three years — none of it paid for with his own money.
Instead, the former president has relied almost entirely on donations made in an attempt to fight the results of the 2020 election.
Now, those accounts are nearly drained, and Mr. Trump faces a choice: begin to pay his own substantial legal fees or find another way to finance them.
November 2020 to Early 2021
Mr. Trump raised a staggering $254 million online from Nov. 4, 2020, the day after the election, to President Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20, 2021, as he urged supporters to fuel an “election defense fund.”
The contributions came so quickly that on Nov. 9, Mr. Trump formed a new political action committee, Save America, to store all the cash.
Only a fraction of the money, however, went toward recounts and other legal challenges to the election. Some went to Mr. Trump’s lawyers during his second impeachment, related to the Jan. 6 riot.
But Mr. Trump banked much of the cash.
Rest of 2021
Mr. Trump started to use the money to fund his post-presidential political operation and what would eventually become his sprawling legal teams. In February, Trump renamed his 2020 committee to “MAGA PAC.”
By the end of 2021, Save America, which continued to bring in new donations, held a substantial portion of Mr. Trump’s fund-raising: $105 million.
2022
Both Save America and MAGA PAC spent significantly in 2022 on legal bills and other related expenses. The House held its impeachment hearings. The F.B.I. searched Mar-a-Lago for missing classified documents in August. Mr. Trump’s legal fees rose.
Mr. Trump spent about $27.2 million on legal-related costs for the year.
As Mr. Trump prepared to announce his 2024 run late in 2022, he faced a quandary: His PAC could not directly spend money to elect him as president. So Save America transferred $60 million to a pro-Trump super PAC called MAGA Inc.
2023
Save America began 2023 with $18.3 million. But Mr. Trump’s legal expenses were about to soar. He was first indicted in March 2023 in New York. Three other indictments followed.
Mr. Trump spent close to $60 million on legal and investigation-related costs — which included his lawyers, a document-production company and an expert witness in Trump’s New York civil fraud case.
Early last year, Mr. Trump made a change to bring more money into Save America, the PAC that was paying his legal expenses. At first, one cent of every dollar he raised online went to Save America; the rest went to his 2024 campaign. But with Save America short of cash to pay lawyers, he increased that to 10 percent.
It was still not enough. By June 2023, Save America had less than $4 million on hand. In an unusual move, Mr. Trump asked his super PAC for a refund of the $60 million he had given just months earlier, so that Save America could continue paying for his legal expenses.
By the end of 2023, more than $42 million had been returned from his super PAC to Save America.
2024
With his first trial looming — in the New York case related to hush-money payments to a porn star in 2016 — Mr. Trump’s legal costs continued to rise. He spent at least $9.7 million in January and February.
The more than $100 million in legal spending since leaving office does not include spending from Mr. Trump's 2024 campaign, which has not paid for his personal legal bills.
To cover the ongoing legal costs, his super PAC refunded an additional $10 million in January and February. But there is now only $7.75 million left to refund. Save America had less than $4 million at the end of February, when accounting for unpaid debts.
The Trump team has said the Republican National Committee won’t pay his legal bills. But his new shared fund-raising agreement with the party directs a portion of donations to his Save America PAC before the party itself.
Still, the account paying Mr. Trump’s legal bills will most likely be out of money by summer at the current spending pace.
Then, Mr. Trump will have to decide: Whose money will he use to pay his lawyers?"

U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona, one of the most MAGA of MAGA Republicans, went on an outrageous and homophobic rant against Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in his newsletter, calling Milley “sodomy-promoting” and a traitor, and even urging his execution.
"In a better society, quislings like the strange sodomy-promoting General Milley would be hung," Gosar wrote.
Far-right politicians and commentators, including Gosar, have often claimed the January 6 insurrection was a setup by anti-Trump forces to make Trump look bad. The riot temporarily interrupted the joint session of the U.S. House and Senate to certify the results of the 2020 presidential election, with Joe Biden prevailing over Trump.
But Gosar has spun other narratives about the events of January 6 that conflict with that version. He has called the participants “peaceful patriots” and claimed that Ashli Babbitt, a rioter who was fatally shot by Capitol Police, was “executed.” At other times, he has seemed to take credit for the insurrection; last year he told a Republican club in Arizona, “I started the revolution.”
Gosar has frequently made other bigoted comments – racist, anti-Semitic, and anti-LGBTQ+ –and has posted images of himself killing liberal Democratic U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and attacking Biden. Even Gosar’s siblings have denounced him for various actions, including his role in the January 6 riot. “There is no one member of Congress more responsible for the attack on the Capitol than Congressman Paul Gosar,” his sister Jennifer Gosar said in an ad in 2021.

A special election has been set for February 13th to fill the vacancy in NY-03 left by George Santos's expulsion from the US House of Representatives. The winner of this election will serve until early January of 2025.
There will not be a primary for the February special election. Party leaders will choose the candidates. Democrats have already chosen former Rep. Tom Suozzi as their candidate. Suozzi gave up his seat for an unsuccessful run for NY governor in 2022. He previously represented much of the largely suburban area which is now in NY-03.
Republicans are having a much harder time finding a candidate for the February election. As of Friday evening, they still don't have one.
An individual who has put himself forward as a possible GOP candidate in the regular November 2024 election in NY-03 is one of the pro-Trump terrorists who attacked the US Capitol on 06 January 2021.
A man who has filed to run in 2024 for the seat held, up until last Friday, by ex-Rep. George Santos (R-NY) was found guilty of crimes related to the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol this week. Philip Sean Grillo, a 49-year-old man from Queens who in May filed the paperwork to run for office in New York’s 3rd Congressional District, was found guilty of “felony obstruction of an official proceeding and other charges related to his conduct during the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol,” the Department of Justice announced in a news release this week. Grillo, who was arrested in February 2021, was not only accused of entering and exiting the building several times — including once through a broken window near the Senate wing door — he was also accused of pushing up against police as he carried a megaphone throughout the riot and was recorded on video saying, “I’m here to stop the steal” and “it’s our fucking House!” He also took time to get high during the attack.
Grillo certainly has the type of mentality to be a House Republican.
Grillo also recorded videos of himself during the riot and smoked weed inside the building. Grillo proceeded to enter and exit the Capitol three more times and can be seen in multiple instances pushing up against police officers,” DOJ said in the news release. “In another recording from his cell phone, he can be seen smoking marijuana inside the Capitol. In this video, Grillo stated, among other things, ‘Our House!’ He asks, ‘Who’s smoking grass?’ and, ‘Can I get a hit it of that s—?’ Another video depicted Grillo high-fiving other rioters after smoking marijuana inside the Capitol.” During the trial, Grill claimed he had “no idea” that Congress met in the Capitol building — even though he is running for Congress — and his lawyers argued he was under the impression that he was allowed to behave how he did that day. Grill hasn’t yet been sentenced so it is unclear if he will still be able to run for Santos’ seat next year. It’s also not clear if he will be a candidate in the Feb. 13 special election to fill the seat, now that Santos has been expelled.
Republicans in NY-03 do understand that they have an image problem because of George Santos. Though it's fun to imagine Donald Trump campaigning for a clueless MAGA stoner.

Donald Trump has come under fire for amplifying a call to his supporters to get “locked and loaded” and “physically fight” for the Republican party’s front-runner for the 2024 presidential elections.
Mr. Trump, who is actively using his own social media platform Truth Social after he was barred from Twitter, reposted a message by a supporter who seemed to suggest violence.
“Then they will have to figure out how to fight 80,000,000 + it’s not going to happen again. People my age and old will physically fight for him this time,” a Truth Social post from username @freeTX1776 read.
“What we got to lose? I’ll donate the rest of my time here on this planet to do it. And I know many many others who feel the same. They got my 6 and we Are Locked and LOADED.”
Mr. Trump, who was investigated for over 18 months by a House committee over his role in the 6 January 2021 Capitol riot, was blamed as the “central cause”.
His supporters descended on Capitol Hill after he told his more than 80 million Twitter followers to come to Washington on the day Congress would make final his 2020 election defeat to Joe Biden, and wrote that the day’s events would be “wild”.
The twice-impeached President was called out by prominent people on social media for amplifying a message that suggested a repeat of the 6 January riots.
Former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger, who was one of two Republicans on the Democratic-led January 6 select committee, asked whether it is even legal to support this for a presidential runner.
“This is sick sick sick. Is it legal to even invite this kind of stuff?” Mr. Kinzinger, 44, a staunch critic of Mr. Trump, said.
Former FBI agent Peter Strozk, who shared the screenshot on Twitter of Mr. Trump resharing the post, said it is the “normal signs of a well-functioning democracy” in an apparent sarcasm.
Tumblr media
He referred to Mr. Trump’s latest comments in which he said he trusts Russia’s president Vladimir Putin over his own Director of National Intelligence.
Responding to Mr. Kinzinger, attorney Harris Peskin said he is stunned. “Absolutely shocked that the guy who tried to overthrow the government the first time, would try again. I just DID NOT see this coming! What a twist!”
The official Twitter handle for the Lincoln Project said: “Just appalling. Trump is gearing up for another January 6th attack. Show this to anyone who does not take seriously the existential threat that MAGA poses to our democracy.”

Kevin McCarthy's ouster as House speaker is more than a momentary detour into dysfunction for the Republican Party, said David Leonard in The New York Times. It's "the latest sign of its drift toward radicalism." For the first time ever, a party deposed its own speaker mid-term, all because hard-right members were outraged that McCarthy engaged in bipartisan spending negotiations "inherent to democratic governance." The GOP has become the primary "source of chaos" in a nation that feels increasingly "unmoored" -and democracy scholars are alarmed. "In my lifetime, this is the greatest challenge that I've seen coming at us," Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Joseph Ellis said of Republicans' revolutionary fervor.
Throwing the House into turmoil is "a continuation of the MAGA riot Donald Trump incited" on Jan. 6, 2021, said David Rothkopf in The Daily Beast. "The rationale was the same": If the system doesn't deliver what we want, we'll just break it.
Our democracy's "downward spiral" could accelerate, said Will Bunch in The Philadelphia Inquirer, which would delight "a small but influential gaggle" of far-right thought leaders. Supposed intellectuals at Hillsdale College and the Claremont Institute see the spreading rot as proof of the need for a "Red Caesar": an authoritarian who will suspend democracy, root out the liberal "deep state," and "impose order." That a growing number of conservative academics and billionaire donors are embracing an
"explicit plea for dictatorship" is deeply alarming. Especially because "we all know who the actual 'Red Caesar' is-even if he is, technically, orange."
If you think that's hyperbole you're not paying attention, said Doyle McManus in the Los Angeles Times. Trump has laid out a terrifying " authoritarian vision" for a second term. He's promised to prosecute political opponents, send the National Guard into high-crime cities, and "purge the federal civil service of anyone who questions his views." Meanwhile, his rhetoric has grown increasingly violent, said Margaret Sullivan in The Guard-ian. He's called for shooting shoplifters, suggested former Joint Chiefs of Staff chair Gen. Mark Milley should be executed, and exhorted followers to "go after" New York Attorney General Letitia James for filing a fraud case against him. Many shrug off such words as "Trump being Trump." But voters must understand exactly what he'll do if he wins in &
2024: "Throw out American democracy and move to something none of us should want.

The Morning Briefing: Biden to Celebrate Dem J6 High Holy Day With White Supremacy Fairy Tale
Tumblr media
In just a few short years, January 6 has become the holiest day on the Democrat calendar. While Christians have long celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany on Jan. 6, Democrats venerate it as the excuse they've been using since 2021 to eliminate political opposition through incarceration, legal harassment, and a general shredding of the United States Constitution.
Now that we've entered an election year, the commie puppet masters who run what's left of Joe Biden's brain are adjusting the uppers/downers cocktail so they can send him out in public and turn up his hate-filled rhetoric volume to 11.
Lincoln writes about the plan for this year's J6 unhinged festivities:
Yes, with the anniversary of JANUARY 6 coming up on Saturday and with Joe Biden apparently planning to run for reelection (as far as he knows), the campaign is coming out swinging on Saturday and Monday. Biden is set to deliver speeches on JANUARY 6 and white supremacy. Not the economy, not the wars overseas, not finding a way forward from the vicious hate and the rise of anti-Semitism. Not even a pretty little lie about the border. Nope, we're headed right back to Mega-Mecha-Mooga-MAGA white supremacists. (They're robots in disguise.)
Roll Call reports the Biden campaign announced on Tuesday that its strategy for the new year would be to focus on Trump as a dictator. Biden will be at Valley Forge on Saturday to gin up hysteria for JANUARY 6.
In recent months, I've noticed that many of the Democrats' flying monkeys in the mainstream media have toned down the J6 "insurrection" talk and are using the word "riots" a lot more. The majority of the legal haranguing of former President Trump that they're doing requires that they keep the insurrection lie alive, however, so look for it to make a comeback.
In reality, what happened at the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, fit the Dems' pet "mostly peaceful protest" description far more than their actual riots.
Because Biden can't run on his disastrous record, the Democrats will have to lean more heavily than ever before on their habit of demonizing Republicans. They'll insist that it's only BECAUSE TRUMP that they're being so harsh, but demonization has been a part of their political arsenal for as long as I've been old enough to vote. George W. Bush was Hitler before Trump was Hitler. Mitt Romney gave a woman cancer. This year it's the "dictator" stuff.
It isn't just politicians who they smear, it's anyone who might vote Republican. I don't know if the Democrats keep records of such things, but I would like to know how many election year grannies I've pushed off of cliffs at this point.
This year's shiny object to distract voters from the Biden disaster will be WHITE SUPREMACY.
While there no doubt is a scattering of white supremacists throughout the land, Sir Sniffsalot will spend the year saying that anyone who is even thinking of voting Republican has a collection of Klan hoods at home. This will be the case even if someone other than Trump is the nominee. Again, they can't let any undecided or independent voters' eyes wander anywhere near Biden's record.
Remember kids: the real internal threat to the country is white supremacy-fueled domestic terrorism. The various criminal elements who have access to our southern border? NOTHING TO SEE HERE... MOVE ALONG.
I hope they keep Biden squinting at teleprompters and barking "MAGA Republicans" like a trained seal with a saliva problem. He's going to scare people all right, just not the ones they're hoping he will.

Mark Sahady made a name for himself as an anti-LGBTQ+ activist in 2019 when he was one of the lead organizers of the Straight Pride Parade in Boston. But he might not be able to organize another one.
Sahady has been indicted in connection to the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and is facing a charge of obstruction of an official proceeding, a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, in addition to other charges.
