What if as a child trapped in his (what I assume to be) negligent if not massively abusive home he tried to escape?

What if he tried to apprentice himself to the Gondians, the smart inventors who he sees himself as or wants so badly to be someday.

Dreaming of being an artificier.

Waiting outside of their warehouse for hours.

Begging for them to apprentice him so he can escape his parents and their debts.

Only to have them turn him away and later be sold to Raphael...

I wonder if that kind of resentment would make someone target you to build war machines in the worst conditions imaginable...

literally all i can think about, is when crosshair see's omega.

he doesn't get mad, he just breaks down. because he will think he failed to save her, that the transmission he'd sent didn't go through. he'll think all his brothers are dead, because why else would she be the only one here?

all the emotions he's repressed finally being let go.

then omega assuring him, that hunter, wrecker and echo are fine. he doesn't ask about tech. omega not saying anything was enough. he cries until he can't and all omega can do is sit there. she know the others. and as much as omega hates it. she doesn't know him.

so yeah umm

so i had this amazing post by @frog-person in my drafts

and !! it made me want to talk about tarot but i didn't want to bogart the post so hahah call it inspiration

if you count all the swords in this frame there is at least 4 unless i'm missing one and my narrative instinct is to go to tarot and that may be trite but eh i'm having fun 😊

its not an exact parallel but i am compelled about how theirs one focal point sword like in the card and three that are else where, and the three are seemingly stabbing aziraphale in the back ???!!

the Four of Swords in either way you read it is about stopping, taking a rest, recouping, its also about sanctuary and taking the time for deep contemplation or meditation, trying to cultivate peace (👀)

Very compelling with this being an episode were the two of them feel like they're safe and are goofing around practically on a date like nothing can hurt them, and possibly maybe meditating on some thoughts about their...future?? maybe ? hmm??

In its true reverse meaning though, its almost always interpreted as 'holding off the battle for another day, knowing that there is a lingering threat, taking respite for now because something is coming.'

I feel like this is very salient, but nothing we didn't already know right? even beyond Furfur and the Nazi Zombies on their trail, in a handful of decades theirs gonna be a dang apocalypse so yeah, you two get all the fun in while you can says the universe.

bUT maybe the three swords in Aziraphales back don't signify and maybe we're supposed to focus on the one sword through their hands so

I mean if it is the Ace of Swords, we have to read it reverse right? Its going down into their hands by the blade, and boy

oh boy oh boy

The Ace of Swords in a reversed position tells us that their is confusion, misunderstandings and miscommunication, usually read as blocking interpersonal relationships that you're seeking to cultivate.

I also see it read a lot as a rigid routine (in life but also in relationships) that no longer serves but will be pretty painful to let go of, but ultimately would be better for you to do so.

The whole vibe of the card is escaping or being trapped and having all the power to get out of it but just needed the bravery to escape.

I know that many have pointed this out but, everytime I see this scene the same thought pops up in my tiny little Byler brain:

Will had just told Mike that whatever he wanted to say to El and didn't manage to, he can say when they meet again.

EXCUSE ME? LOOK AT MIKE TRYING TO HIDE HIS SMILE? ARE YOU SENSING THE RELIEF LIKE I DO?

In my mind, Mike here is relieved because he understood that it's not too late and that he can still say to Will that he loves him.

You can't really see it from the gif because of the coloring BUT:

MIKE BLUSHING???? IT'S SUBTLE BUT IT'S THERE.

S4 IS SO UNHINGED, THERE IS MIKE WHO IS 24/7 HEAD OVER HEELS ABOUT WILL AND HIM BEING LIKE:"HE LOVES ME... HE LOVES ME NOT" *ripping off the bandaid*.

Not thinking about how Aziraphale didn't know about Crowley living in his car until Crowley literally saying it in front of him at the showdown over Gabe/Beeb.

Totally not fixating that immediately upon being recruited for Supreme Archangel (knowing with the Metatron rejecting Michael they'd likely go with Uriel or one we hadn't seen like Raquel...) Not knowing what heaven has planned but it's got SOMETHING planned if they're recruiting. Jumping at the opportunity to give Crowley a permanent home with him in Heaven.

Saying "Nothing lasts forever" about the bookshop because nothing in the universe DOES last forever. There's continental drift, political uprising, heat death of the universe that will take out even Alpha Centauri, Jeff Bezos' Amazon...

And he's on the outside in the bookshop. They don't talk to him. He doesn't know either the great OR ineffable plans.

And this is the Metatron. The literal voice and scribe of God herself.

And here is an opportunity for Crowley and Aziraphale to not just face it together again... But face it from a position of power and influence. Allowing Crowley to ask questions or make suggestions without being cast out. Giving a permanent home that won't just disappear the next time Heaven actually agrees to end the world. Or God finally shuts everything down, even Crowley's beautiful little star factory.

A home for a demon who is out in the cold because he was cast out of heaven, exiled from hell, and living homeless in his car. Just the car, "house" plants, and clothes on his back being all to his name.

And not realising that Crowley rejected it all because he thought he had a home the entire time.

One called Aziraphale.
