This was the first set of imagery we had to ring in for our workshop. The two images are pictures I took and the two on the right are pictures that Im inspired by. The top left image I took walking by highstreet, I saw this little pocket of urban graffiti way up high on a building. I thought it was a great opportunity for a picture because of how it probably isn't noticed by the public a lot. 

The top right image is a digital illustration done by your “localoffgod” a young and upcoming japanese designer. He designs for hiphop artists creating album covers, icons and photos. I love his work because of its link to anime and hiphop. These are to of my favourite things that Im constantly surrounded by. 

The bottom left is a picture down at the bottom of the city at the end of the cloud. At the time there was a house set up with a whole lot of neon lights setup on the walls inside. I took heaps of photos and this was a favourite. I was urged to take photos because it felt like it link to my interest in cyberpunk art and imagery. 

The final bottom write photo is a tattoo by my favourite tattoo artist Mashkow, a tattoo artist inspired by New York graffiti which sees him turning the walls of the streets into peoples faces. His tattoos focus on portraits of music and movie stars. In this image you can see a portrait of Kurt Cobain from band Nirvana. I have been obsessed with Mashkows work for years ever since I first saw his instagram. What hooked first were the people he was tattooing and on top of that the style he uses which is realism but with a catch. The catch being graffiti.

Hoje, com a internet, temos diversas formas para consumir arte. Mas esta janela aberta para o infinito deixa tudo um pouco igual e ameno, o que não é a real função da arte. A normalidade de ver o mesmo desenho em várias redes sociais — às vezes até em perfis não oficiais — não devia ser a ideia. Entendo a necessidade de propagação e divulgação do artista, mas isso por si só é a síntese da poluição visual e virtual.Então, iremos falar de poluição visual bem estruturada na pele, ok?

Gosto de admirar traços e ir até um pouco mais além, associando o artista à obra! Isso é importante e muito pouco incentivado! Têm tantas pessoas que já viviam a vida artística antes da internet, que eu admirava e nunca tinha visto o autor…

Como na vez em que, por causa de um sketch dos desenhos da Fiona Staples, eu conheci a HQ Saga; ou até mesmo quando eu achava que Simone Bianchi era uma mulher — pela riqueza de detalhes e suavidade de curvas, eu não tinha como pensar o contrário — só por causa do nome. Hoje, falaremos de Mashkow, ilustrador, pintor e tatuador! Russo (aaaah 😔) morando em Nova Iorque, Aleksey Mashkov é um desses exemplos de que, às vezes, é uma boa ir além do like. Com características muito originais nos seus traços, o artista dá uma cara dirty new wave with lasers, traços geométricos e muitos detalhes em cada busto. A cereja do bolo, pra mim, é deixar tudo muito confuso e ao mesmo tempo bonito, um personal caos visual, grafitando os bustos com Bombs que parecem saídos do documentário Style Wars. Isto vai muito na contramão não só do que pedem em tatuagens, mas também da arte nesta geração, que caminha para a linha minimalista e molda, aos poucos, o UX.

No site mais louco que já vi tem todas as tatuagens já feitas, com diversas celebridades e seus bordões e características, mas sempre com sua assinatura (antipirataria, é assim que se faz). Já no insta pessoal, há quadros em tinta a óleo e ilustrações autoexplicativas sobre tanta qualidade nos detalhes, mantendo referências nem um pouco óbvias. Fique aqui com o speedpaint de uma delas:
