But of course Chuck did nothing to help the dying angel. Poisoned by his hamartia. Wings and wax melted from flying too close to the sun.

Delicate feathers floated around him, a sign of his irreversible mistakes.

His final thoughts lingered as he fell the last few feet. With one arm outstretched, he reached towards the sky, hope leaving his body the same way the last swirl of grace leaked from his eyes.

He shut them, hitting the ground with a thud. The stripped skeleton that was his wings burned their everlasting mark into the ground below, while torn feathers and shards of a stained glass mural littered the concrete floor.

His soul can be found in the only plain of darkness that can quench his fiery light. A place of solid black. One of nothing but emptiness. Nothing but quiet.

His final resting place, where the shadows greet him like an old friend."

KUALA LUMPUR: Ratu ski air negara, Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah menampilkan aksi terpuji dengan meraih tempat keempat dalam acara tricks pada Kejohanan Ski Air Remaja Dunia 2018 di Madrid, Sepanyol, pada Ahad.

Atlet berusia 15 tahun itu mengumpul 5,790 mata untuk menghuni kedudukan tersebut dalam dalam kalangan 12 peserta di pusingan akhir selepas gagal ke peringkat akhir pada edisi 2016 di Santiago, Chile.

Peserta Kanada, Nelly Ross menguasai saingan dari awal untuk merangkul pingat emas dengan 9,570 mata diikuti peserta Amerika Syarikat, Kennedy Hansan (7,750 ) manakala peserta Colombia, Daniela Verswyvel membawa pulang pingat gangsa dengan kutipan 6,120 mata.

Walaupun gagal ke podium, Aaliyah masih bangga dengan persembahannya pada kejohanan tersebut.

“Boleh dikatakan saya berpuas hati dengan persembahan selepas mengatasi catatan peribadi terbaik dan rekod dalam acara jump dan slalom,” katanya yang mencatatkan rekod baharu kebangsaan 35.9m dalam acara jump dan rekod terbuka Asia dalam acara slalom dengan catatan 3.0/55/12m.

“Pada asasnya adalah terbaik yang saya boleh lakukan dalam kedua-dua acara ini. Saya gembira dengan tempat keempat dalam acara tricks dan tempat kelima keseluruhan,” katanya.

Ketua jurulatih Persekutuan Ski Air dan Wakeboard Malaysia (MWWF), Hanifah Yoong turut memuji pencapaian hebat anaknya itu, sambil berkata Aaliyah perlu memberi lebih tumpuan dalam acara tricks.

Selain Aaliyah, dua lagi adiknya – Aiden, 12, dan Adam, 10, juga menampilkan prestasi membanggakan dalam acara trick lelaki.

Aiden menamatkan cabaran di kedudukan ke-25 keseluruhan selepas meraih 3,520 mata manakala Adam yang memegang rekod kebangsaan dan pemenang pingat emas Sukan SEA 2017, menduduki tempat ke-17 dengan 4,410 mata.
