How does the Kamo clan, and even the Zen’in clan, compete with the Gojo clan in anyway in ZoS? Megumi has ten shadows yeah, but I don’t remember his cursed energy ever being said to be boundless like Gojo and Shiki who was 2nd to Gojo at 9 in CE, and I think you said CE is mainly set at birth in this AU? I also just don’t see how Ten Shadows competes with Mystic Eyes+Shiki’s technique or Sex Eyes+Limitless, even if Megumi did have crazy CE, Maho is strong but vuln to one shot. And then the Kamo�

In the current setting of zenith of stars, the Gojo Clan indeed possesses an indisputable advantage over both the Kamo and Zenin Clans.

Something to note about this, however, is that this is a recent development. The Gojo Clan didn't rise to overwhelming prominence until Gojo Satoru was born -and he's the first wielder of both Six Eyes and Limitless in hundreds of years for them. (Gojo Satoru is arguably also the strongest sorcerer that the Gojo Clan has ever produced, including previous wielders of Six Eyes and Limitless.) Prior to this, I'd imagine that the Three Great Families were roughly equal to each other in terms of power and influence, likely with the Gojo Clan lagging slightly behind the other two.

Megumi isn't a member of the Zenin Clan in zenith of stars, so he's unrelated to the Zenin Clan's posturing and politicking for the most part.

In terms of just cursed techniques alone, we have a canonical historical account of a wielder of Six Eyes and Limitless and a wielder of Ten Shadows killing each other. This implies that the abilities are regarded to be on equal terms with each other. Blood Manipulation also has the potential to be extremely dangerous. For example, if a user who was extremely skilled with Piercing Blood fought a Six Eyes + Limitless user who was not Gojo Satoru (and thus does not have an impenetrable barrier perpetually active) I could see them being evenly matched.

Does Sakuna have feelings for Megumi? Why he is so obsessed with him?

Sukuna is fascinated by Megumi; on his CT, his talent and drive and that right from the beginning. Sukuna's Binding Vow with Yuji after he died was made with Megumi in mind; without him Sukuna might've straight up preferred to die than be stuck with Yuji any longer.

Sukuna's fascination with him also had an affect on Megumi which made him train more and with Gojo no less. Under the bridge, Sukuna was Megumi's direct inspiration to fight on instead of summoning Mahoraga and killing himself with it.

This line btw is a mistranslation... with a catch.

What Sukuna actually said here was "mesmerize/enchant me" but in Japanese that and "show me" are homonyms and sound the same: miseru (basic form)

見せる to show

魅せる to mesmerize/enchant

Whoever did those subtitles above should have caught that when reading the script BUT Megumi definitely heard the "show me" because later on under the bridge he repeats it as an answer to Sukuna (I tried to find a video clip of that real quick but couldn't).

In Shibuya, Sukuna obviously came to Megumi and saved his life after feeling Mahoraga. In the Culling Games it was Megumi again who took the next step in his growth by emulating (knowingly or unknowingly) Sukuna's way of fighting and living: by going all out with only your own desire (saving Tsumiki) in mind and destroying anything else in your path.

Megumi first killed one of Reggy's underlings, then Reggy and then nearly Remi before Tsumiki's soul stopped him from doing that. Had Sukuna seen that and the genius way Megumi defeated Reggy, he would've praised Megumi again.

Now, we'll have to see how Sukuna and Megumi stand in relation to each other during the possession. Initially, Megumi resisted and Sukuna was pleased again. But Sukuna is also utterly relentless in the pursuit of his desires and killed Tsumiki's body with Megumi's CT to break his will.

(Btw, Sukuna also says "mesmerize me" to Mahoraga before Maho uses his long range slash attack to bypass Infinity and cut off Gojo's arm. That attack was the one that Sukuna learnt his World Cutting Attack from with which he killed Gojo.)

The good guys are still here to save Megumi though and with that underway Sukuna might feel mesmerized again by him. Small spoiler for the newest chapter but Sukuna still calls Megumi by his full name, indicating that he still respects and likes him even while pushing him down.

Sukuna will feel nothing else when Megumi pushes back against him.

Sukuna's Non-Consenual Binding Vow with Megumi

TLDR: Sukuna has inflicted a non-consensual binding vow onto Megumi that forces him to bear the burden of Sukuna's cursed techniques given the proper conditions. Here's the reddit post if you're into that sorta thing.

My theory references the fact that Megumi never defeated Mahoraga, but for some reason, Sukuna could still summon it as a legitimate treasure. I rely on my own speculation on the bath and Sukuna's ability to summon Maho on Megumi's soul. I argue that Sukuna's ability to use Maho on Megumi's soul indicates that Sukuna can now force him into cooperation with a curse technique's mechanics.

Megumi explains that the ten shadow technique begins with the demon dogs, and the sorcerer works with them to exorcize up to ten spirits. Once the spirit has been exorcised, the Ten Shadows user can summon them as a treasure.

Sukuna immediately summons nue without needing to exorcize it because he inherited Megumi's spirits. Sukuna inherits Megumi's memories while also maintaining his own curse techniques, essentially combining their powers, even though he can't perfectly combine their spirits. Sukuna instead seeks to submerge Megumi's spirit into compliance to his will, a non-consensual possession where Megumi's forced into a passive state.

While Megumi originally fought back, the bath of evil submerged Megumi into passivity.

I argue that the bath itself is the binding vow, the meticulous effort that Uraume suffered through being enough leverage to force Megumi into binding vows or act as a cursed object with a power relating to Sukuna's CTs.

Mahoraga requires the TS user to defeat it in order for them to summon it as a spirit, but Megumi never defeated it, Sukuna did.

If their cursed techniques were combined once Sukuna forced himself into Megumi's body, then would TS not recognize Sukuna as the user who exorcized Maho?

The process gets tricky because after Sukuna defeated Maho, he returned the wheel to Megumi's body and it was absorbed into the shadow technique.

TS allowing Sukuna's exorcism to count would justify Maho not attacking Sukuna against Yorozu, the first time we see him summon it. It acts as any other summon would, immediately attacking Yorozu; this indicates that it's been exorcized as a legitimized treasure and that this is not a summoning ritual like Megumi did.

Perhaps once claimed, Maho allows the TS user to wear it's wheel until it's needed to fight alongside the user. No TS user has ever claimed Maho, so there's no precedent for how the power works as a legitimately exorcized treasure and Megumi would not be aware of it.

Against Yorozu, and throughout the fight with Gojo, Megumi has succumbed to Sukuna's oppressive will and never fights back. Sukuna never struggles with Megumi after the bath and can suddenly force him to take on Maho's wheel. Megumi becomes a docile victim.

Megumi would obviously fight back against Sukuna to help Gojo if he could. Why would he agree to bear Maho and help Sukuna? I believe Sukuna has the power to overwrite Megumi's consent and enforce binding vows upon his soul.

There are two general ideas I can imagine for the bath of evil being a binding vow:

The bath allows Sukuna to force Megumi's participation to use cursed techniques (obviously this would coincides with Sukuna's use of TS).

The bath allows Sukuna to use Megumi as a cursed tool with the ability to bear the burden of Sukuna's cursed techniques, including Maho's adaption and World Dismantle's chant.

I personally like the idea of number two, given that they refer to Megumi as a cursed tool.

The bath allows Sukuna to force Megumi to bear the chants used for the WD. Here, we see bubbles indicating dialogue, but Yuta successfully severed both of Sukuna's tongues.

The chat bubbles indicate that someone spoke the chant and that Sukuna was not able to "skip" the chant associated with the ability. I believe under certain circumstances, Sukuna can force Megumi to perform CTs against his will, but perhaps there's a limit.

Maho has now demonstrated Sukuna's ability to force Megumi's non-consensual cooperation with a CT's mechanics, and this has carried over with WD's chant.

Problems with this Theory

Sukuna says that he needs to defeat Maho so that the ritual will be void, but does that mean Maho's defeat would not count as a legitimately exorcized spirit for the TS user? If the TS user summons the spirit in a ritual with another person and they defeat the spirit, that spirit's technique would not be available to the TS user.

Would Sukuna be able to immediately summon Maho or nue? Given that he did both, I would think the TS technique combined their feats and allowed Sukuna's kill to count as the user's proper exorcism.

If the ritual really was void, why was Sukuna able to summon Maho, let alone place it on Megumi's spirit?

What are the limits to this vow? Why hasn't Sukuna used this forced chant before now? If he has, is this how he killed Gojo? If so, why did he suddenly switch to performing the chant on his own?

Just watched the new episode for jjk s2, is it just me or did Megumi looked a tad bit hopeful when he answered Toji's question? The way the va said 'Fushiguro', admittedly when I read that part of the manga I did not imagine that kind of delivery. And idk if its just my Fushiguro father and son brain rot playing tricks on me but I sensed a bit of longing, desperation and disappointment in the way they shot and animated that few bits of Megumi hurrying towards the body at the end of the fight. The pause, slight hesitation to then full on running towards the guy, who he thought looked quite familiar but change faces before he could get a good look. It somehow gave me the same feels as that brief flashback Toji had of kid Megumi looking sad or maybe worried (I always hc that scene as the day Toji left and how Megumi probably knew his father will not be coming back). Ahh idk.

Also Sukuna in all his glory and Mahoraga feet tease. Gosh I love JJK so much.

ok so idk if this is just me but I did get the same impression from the manga and the anime just made it more obvious laughs in jjk ships 🛳️.

With the anime, MAPPA said "let me show you why the animation quality you saw wasn't the top of our game a couple of chapters ago".

To go on a little MAPPA tangent... they're doing justice to jjk so good. Even in its imperfections due to scheduling constraints and having an overworked and underpaid staff, this anime elevates the manga.

So I was very happy to see how much they put into this episode, more specifically that moment and the lead up to it. I especially loved the look on Megumi's face in the precise moment you describe, but you've expressed yourself about it way better than I ever could.

It's like Megumi is doing the jjk math and realizing that the man looks awfully familiar for a reason. I've always thought it was so funny how Megumi might not recognize Toji given how much they look alike.

AND YES for bringing it back to the moment having the same sentiment as that one panel.

We're not necessarily privy to seeing into their dynamic, but I do love the idea that there was longing on both ends. I also got the sense that to Toji recognizing Megumi was also like he got a wish fulfilled in terms of him having thought "I wanted to see him again" right before he died.

On that, note, I get why people think Megumi doesn't care for Toji, but idk... I like the idea that he does better. Megumi strikes me as the type of person who loves very few people, but those that he loves, he loves them deeply.

The way you described the rest of the episode. Maho feet tease and how the tease flowed into the ending!

But yes I loved Megumi in this episode but Sukuna...

D4DJ Voice Actor's and Headcanon Voice Actors.

This will be a little different than my usual VA headcanon posts because this will actually feature both canon AND headcanon VA's from this series.

The only instance where D4DJ has been dubbed in English is the first season of the anime, which primarily featured Happy Around, Peaky P-Key and Photon Maiden, and while the other units made cameos and had voiced scenes, they didn't really get the spotlight. I wanted to include all the characters in the post though, because I very quickly fell in love with this series and the storylines, and characters sing to me, pun not intended.

So this is kind of a roundup of the voice actors of the characters in English, as well as who I think would voice the characters who DON'T appear in English. The rules are the same as ever.

The most important thing to remember is that the unnoficial VA's are NOT CANON. They are HEADCANONS ONLY. It’s just a hypothetical situation. If the characters were voiced, this is who I imagine would voice them.

Thoughts on JJK Chapter 234 (Spoilers)

We start the chapter with Yuta being on the verge of a nervous breakdown again which leads him to want to help Gojo in his fight. We also get some of the planning that went into this battle in the 1 month time skip.

Basically, the others are only allowed to enter the fight when Gojo becomes weaker then them (and Kashimo is the first to go) but that hasn't happened yet. Yuta is also an insurance for future battles apparently.

Things we've been thinking all this time finally laid out! Gojo's winning conditions are easier than Sukuna's (but don't forget, Gojo also has to win a way where Megumi can be rescued/resurrected, meaning his head has to still remain). But was is Sukuna's trump card in this? (Maybe some more servants from the past who have been reincarnated outside of Uraume?)

As I've speculated last chapter, Nue did inherit the power from the dead serpent orochi but Agito is also a fusion of living shikigami. On the Japanese fandom side, the other part of the fusion was said to be the Divine Dog Totality but now we see that it's the Round Deer and the "Mourn Tiger".

My theory from forever ago that the ninth shikigami is a tiger has now been proven correct!

But more on Agito: I think the confusion on why the Divine Dog Kon should be part of this chimera came from the name "Totality" . From what I understood, all Shikigami who have inherited the powers from dead ones get that moniker, but many saw the title as the actual name of the dog. Also, we later see Gojo kill Agito but because it's a fusion, Nue, the Deer and the Tiger won't die. Which would've been different if it had only been a "totality" .

This entire fight we didn't have much insight on how Sukuna was fairing. From this we see that he fears Hollow Purple for the moment and that he doesn't know about Utahime and gramps helping Gojo. This might be important later. It's also funny how he hides in the shadows.

It's so interesting how Sukuna says this and it also strengthens my argument that Mahoraga will die and that Megumi will perfect the 10ST without it. (This also makes me think that the shikigami might have some autonomy over themselves in opposition to the sorcerer who summoned them.)

Mahoraga being seemingly able to use Sukuna's technique is a surprise. If that is true it can mean two things. 1) Mahoraga can use the technique of its user, meaning Maho would be able to independently summon other shikigami, or 2) Mahoraga can use the techniques it adapted to. If the second one is true, then we'll have a shikigami that can use infinity in the future.

Gojo calling Agito weak gives me hope in Megumi getting his technique back and perfecting it himself. If for example the skeletal construct in Chimera Shadow Garden is needed for the ultimate shikigami fusion, then of course only Megumi would be able to make that fusion because Sukuna doesn't have access to CSG (from what we know until now).

I also love how Gojo looks s bit crazed here and that Mahoraga protected Sukuna with his hand.

The last page of this chapter says that the climax is approaching and that Shinjuku is going to suffer Hollow Purple again. On one hand, narratively, the story can only go in the direction where Sukuna wins, on the other hand, Gege can just as well make the end of this fight as crazy as possible.

The craziest idea I have right now is that Megumi will turn into a curse.

Y'know this is probably farfetched but I like to hc that untamed Mahoraga being so out of control and wild is because it's influenced by Megumi's internal craziness. And with that said I really hope Gege's gonna further explore the connection between Megumi's psyche and his shadows moving forward.

There's a panel during Gojo v Sukuna where Sukuna says something along the lines of "come on Maho-chan, you're my shadow now" that I thought was just such an interesting detail to mention.
