Can we get some relationship HCs for our beloved shark man Kisame? u_u

a/n: sure bby I’ll try my best - kind of turned into how you met and progressed type headcanons :) warnings: none

-This man is one unique man. And I don’t mean because shark man he just has such a very go with the flow kind of world view. Has no strong feelings towards anything that isn’t for his own benefit. Not to say he is greedy, just that he knows how the world works - for people like him anyway.

-Meeting you was just a pleasant surprise along the way. He met you in some run down tavern which he stepped into to get out of the rain and hopefully some peace and quiet. Shelter he got but after taking a seat in the back, quiet he did not get.

-He spotted you arguing with some deadbeat. He didn’t really hear what the argument was about - he didn’t care but it was noisy. You were giving the man you were arguing what was what when he made to hit you.

-In an instant Kisame was there, the mans wrist in his grasp. ‘Wouldn’t mind stepping outside would you? I came here for some peace and quiet.’ Then he, quite literally, throws him out the door. He turned back to you and you were seething. It was amusing really.

- ‘You’re welcome.’ He said, heading back to his seat, hoping for quiet. But you followed him and you were mad! ‘Who do you think you are coming over like that? I had that under control.’

-He turned to you with a bemused smile. Okay this was interesting. Not a lot of people had the guts to arc up to him like this - given his appearance. ‘I came here for some quiet and the disturbance irritated me.’ Kisame shrugged. ‘So that gives you the right to just step in?’ You replied.

- ‘How about this: you stop yelling at me and I’ll buy you a drink.’ He said giving you a smile. You frowned then reluctantly sat. ‘Two drinks.’ You argued and he agreed. He doesn’t really know how but once you calmed down the two of you got to talking. He enjoyed your company.

-On a whim he asked you to travel with him. You implied you had better things to do than follow some random around the continent. But in the morning you met him at the spot and went with him. You were prickly but you warmed up to him eventually.

-The two of you grew close quickly and eventually started your relationship. To his surprise you wanted to know about his past. So he told you, expecting you to run off once you heard. To your surprise you emphasised with a lot of his past. You thought it was horrible he had gotten to that point. He began more enraptured by you.

-The first time he kisses you it’s after an argument. Not a heavy one - you were just irritable from not sleeping well. You didn’t fare well outdoors without a bed but still you agreed to travel with him. He caught you off guard but it was a welcome surprise.

-After that the two of you were inseparable. Nothing in the world mattered but the two of you - keeping each other alive and safe. And you became vagabonds, travelling the different nations, looking for peace and quiet. All you needed was each other.

I’m gonna need the expanded version of those headcanons please, vagabond fiona sounds like a wonderfully terrifying concept

., Ahh okay so Vagabond Fiona is a wonderfully terrifying concept, as soon as the image popped into my head I quietly whispered “Oh no, she’s become too powerful”.

- Because is a Vagabond who came to the role out of necessity. Vagabond Fiona is one who is full of rage, who snuck into Ryan’s room at the penthouse and stole his mask and jacket while no one was looking and went out looking to kick some fucking ass

- Because someone had betrayed them. One of their allies, a small crew they had worked with for years and kept protected had turned on them suddenly. Someone else offered them a little bit more money, a chance at power, and they had jumped.

- They attacked one of Fahc’s warehouses. A small one, didn’t hold a lot of equipment and only a handful of guards. But it was one of the first properties Fahc had held in the city. It was about sending a message more than anything.

- More importantly, It was one of the buildings that this small little crew had been hired to protect. They were the guards. So there was supposed to be no one there to stop them.

- What they hadn’t accounted for was for Ryan to stop by. Looking to pick up some of the explosives they had kept there because the lads were starting to get bored and if they wound up dragging him out to cause trouble, well the cops were much easier to handle when they were blown up.

- Of course, the explosives had been part of the plan. Blow the building up and everything inside and it would certainly send a message.

- Ryan caught them redhanded in rigging the explosion. But he wasn’t carrying anything but a pistol and a few knives, making it hard to stop them before it was too late. He takes a few down, but most of them make it out.

- And Ryan has been shot because he wasn’t wearing fucking armor because he wasn’t planning on being ambushed, and he realizes there’s no way he can stop the explosion before it happens, because while he was distracted fighting one group the others were setting up the explosion.

- And he hears the beeping too late to get to the door, so he does the next best thing and shoots out a window and dives through it, stumbling out the other side and he somehow he makes it far enough that the blast doesn’t kill him, but only just barely. It certainly is enough that he passes out.

- It’s touch and go on whether Ryan will live for over a week. The other crew meanwhile starts to spread rumors that he’s dead.

- And they’re all fucking pissed about what happened. They all want revenge on the other crew, but revenge took time to plan and anyways a lot of their focus especially those first few days were on Ryan. On worrying if he would survive.

- The talk about the Vagabond being dead is what hurts Fahc the most. Others start to talk about them losing power without him. Trevor is working overtime trying to combat rumors but without Ryan out there how could he?

- So Fiona takes matters into her owns and steals Ryan’s jacket and mask and goes out that night as the Vagabond. They had managed to trace down a handful of the snitches and she goes after them. Using the cover of the night and the fact Ryan hardly spoke to her advantage. She kills most of them, leaves one alive but wounded to tell the others the Vagabond was still alive She copies Ryan’s mark and leaves the scene.

- The next few nights she prowls around town letting just enough people get a glimpse of her that now there’s a new rise of rumors. Had the Vagabond not died at all? Or was this simply a ghost? A copy cat? Some had rumored this Vagabond was different than before, had he perhaps come back changed? Had the Vagabond always been able to speak French as rumors claimed he was heard doing?

- When the rest of Fahc finds out, it’s really a toss up over who is mad and who thinks it’s a stupid but if not a begrudgingly good idea. Gavin is probably the most on board with the idea, after he stops laughing of course because Fiona was somehow the least threatening Vagabond ever despite the fact he knew she could easily take them all if she wanted to. Trevor is worried about the repercussions if someone finds out Fiona was faking it and Fahc was lying, but for the most part they all agree that at least Fiona has been taking off some of the heat and if she kept doing what she had been until Ryan was able to take back over, things should work out okay.

- (When Ryan wakes up and finds out, he’s probably the one who is the most concerned/thinks it’s a bad idea, because the Vagabond had a lot a lot of enemies and it wasn’t that he didn’t think Fiona couldn’t handle herself, t was just most of them wanted to do more than kill the Vagabond and he hated to think what would happen to her if she got caught)

- Mostly, the ruse works. No one really questions it, even as the rumors grow about this Vagabond being different than before. No one can really put into words what it is, because well there were already a thousand rumors about who the Vagabond was and what he looked like. But something was different (some claimed this Vagabond was less threatening than before. Others thought the exact opposite).

- There’s a moment when it al almost crashes down around them. Usually when dealing with business, Gavin was the one who handled clients while Ryan and sometimes Michael or Jeremy (depending on who was free, and if the situation called for more than one guard). But Trevor is hesitant about sending Fiona, even though Ryan points out it would be more suspicious not to. So Ry gives Fiona the best tips he can for being the Vagabond

- Which goes about as well as you can expect considering it’s Gavin and Fiona. On of the buyer’s guards loudly accuses that Fiona isn’t the real Vagabond, which really takes hold when she starts yelling at him in French, although she does gain some traction back when she shoots him straight in the head no remorse, while Gavin calmly slides out his pistol and tries to talk the situation back down, insisting that of course, Fiona was the Vagabond, to think otherwise was an insult to Fahc, and did they really want to insult Fahc Gavin asks, casually pointing directly at the buyer’s head, with the smile that said you should agree or a bullet would be the least of your issues.

- The rest of Fahc starts coming out after that affirming that Fiona has always been the Vagabond and anyone who thinks differently was lying. And spreading such rumors would not end well for you.

- After a while, most people just start going with it. Ryan is out of commission for a long time, after all, and after a few months everyone just decides Fiona must actually be the Vagabond, and things settle.

- Just in time for Ryan to come back as the actual Vagabond, causing Los Santos to devolve into confusion over who was the real one, because pictures show they clearly are different, but Fahc insists there is only one Vagabond. They deny any proof otherwise.

- Fiona continues going out as the Vagabond every now and then, trading off when Ryan whenever it was needed, which causes a lot of confusion but at some point most crews that deal with Fahc stop trying to figure out answers and just... give up

- Fiona also denies being the Vagabond unless wearing the mask and jacket, even though several people insist that she is because no one else in Fahc speaks French and she looks like the photos (or at least some of them). Sometimes Ryan will show up when she’s having this argument and confuse everyone

where they first met and how

Well, it was by accident. Or as accidental as it could have been. Delia was doing what she does best, vagabonding and as with most of the people Cordelia ends up forming any sort of relationship with, she asked Jill if there was any sort of small job she could do so she could make some money to add to her funds before she headed back to home, wherever that was. Since Jill is kindhearted she let Delia sweep up around the salon and so for the week Delia was in town she’d do that for the day and they just sort of hit it off until Cordelia was staying in town a lot longer

how long their ‘flirting’ phase was before feelings got involved

Oh gosh, probably months. Before Cordelia started to realize that she wanted to stay near Jill and be in her life in some form or other, they didn’t see each other for a long time and even then, it didn’t really start for a while after that. So probably a good year or so

who fell for who first ( if applicable )

I want to say Delia fell for Jill first but Jill may have started putting the feelers out

where their first date was and what it was like

Their first real date was lowkey cliche. They went had a picnic in the park on a nice-ish day, but it ended up raining and instead of gathering their things and running away to get out of it, they stayed and finished because why rush? So they had their little picnic in the rain while other people trying to leave the park looked at them.

who asks who out and how ( with a sign? spelled out on a cake? just a simple ‘will you go out with me’? )

Cordelia asked Jill, it was a super simple ‘let’s go out and have a picnic’ and halfway through the date Jill had to ask to make sure she wasn’t reading into it the wrong way

who proposes first

Jill does, over Christmas.

if they keep / kept their relationship secret or let everyone know right away

I don’t think it was kept a secret as much as a very simple “oh no she’s my girlfriend”

where the proposal happens and how ( kiss cam at a baseball game? on a hillside surrounded by ducks? at a disney park? )

I think pets come later, their first goal is to keep more than one plant alive at the same time.

Honestly, I think it’s small stuff and it’s never anything they don’t work out bc they are in it for the longest of hauls

Lowkey, I think it’s either taking walks or cleaning together.

Not long enough for it to impact. Maybe a couple of hours at most

Cordelia is very much a chai tea person when she does get it and Jill seems like an English Breakfast tea in the morning - unless she’s hungover, then it’s coffee

When they’re both stable enough in their jobs (it kills Cordelia’s spirit to give into capitalism) they eventually plan on adopting and naming said child Juniper.

It’s a comfortable mess? Like the aesthetic kind you see on instagram posts. A lot of it is Jill’s decor and Cordelia adds little bits of things here or there. Lots of fake plants and almost rustic

Super modest. Cordelia worked really hard to get her gifts for Jill and cried when she saw what Jill gave her.

what their names are in each other’s phones

Cordelia has Jill listed as: Jill♡, Cordelia is listed in Jill’s phone as: Delia♡♡

if they have any ‘couple traditions’ ( buying a new mug for their collection every year? baking every friday evening? )

Hmmmmm angst fahc myan headcanons, you ask? I can deliver these! (sorry for the delay my life is #wild rn)

1. Because Ryan and Michael are two of the Fakes’ attack dogs - the ones that get right up into the line of fire - they’re the ones constantly in the most danger. The two standing side by side on the front lines, gattling guns rattling their bones and their teeth, providing a solid wall of bullets between the others and the death on the other side. They stand stalwart, constantly egging each other on between gritted teeth and bloody hands, teasing each other that they will be the bravest and strongest in the face of oncoming death. That is, until one of them is knocked down, hurt, broken body hitting the ground. Blood spills everywhere and the other just stares, not knowing when their teasing turned into reality, watching their loved one’s blood leaking into the pavement.

(They end up being fine, but that initial shock... that’s something the other will carry with them to their graves.)

2. Michael and Ryan both don’t like to be wrong and have a temper a mile long. Their “lovers spats” are a thousand times more vicious than any of the others. When they argue, fists fly as easily as sharp, vicious words. They rip each other apart with tongues as sharp as knives. This can lead to avoiding, to sulking, to even on some memorable occasions actual fistfights or storming out until they cool down. Sometimes weeks will go by before they inevitably make up, really throwing off the dynamic of the crew and pissing Geoff off royally. Making up also doesn’t necessarily mean “agreeing” - they are the masters of the ‘agree to disagree’ and tabling the argument for another day.

(And the make-up sex is damn fine.)

3. Because Michael and Ryan are always on the front lines, it tends to lead for them to get swarmed and kidnapped sometimes more often than the others. When it happens, the other will work themselves to the bone to get their lover back, unable to stand the idea that they’re being tortured, caged, hurt because of their negligence. Team Crazy Mad are supposed to protect each other, are supposed to be there for one another, watching each other’s backs when things blow sky high. When a screw is loose and they fuck that up... nothing will stop them from getting their partner back. Not sleep, not food, not anything. They will work their fingers to the bone until they can hold their partner in their arms and beg for that sweet forgiveness for ever letting anything happen to them.

(Thing is, Michael and Ryan are the strongest of them. It’ll take more than a little kidnapping to break their spirit. And even hurt, even bleeding, they’ll just grin and kiss their lover and ask what the fuck took them so long??)

4. Michael is a loyal man to his core. He’s a firecracker, always angry, always fierce, but when he loves, he loves to the bottom of him. He gives his devotion easily and deeply. But Ryan is a man who takes a while to trust and longer to love. I feel like Michael loves Ryan almost from the beginning, from the moment the Vagabond first revealed his face and the soft man underneath the hard shell. Michael’s heart drops out of his body and he’s so, so very much in love. But it takes Ryan so fucking long to get to that same conclusion, battling the very idea that he’s in love because he doesn’t want to hurt Michael physically or emotionally. Not wanting to let Michael in because he doesn’t want to be hurt. He can’t - won’t - lose anyone else. He can’t care, he certainly can’t love. When Michael finally gathers the courage to admit his feelings to Ryan’s face, I think the other goes cold and distant and breaks Michael’s heart.

(Eventually Ryan comes around and realizes that life is better with love and how the source of that love is the damn idiot firecracker. It takes Michael nearly blowing himself up for him to realize how much he would lose if he didn’t give himself a chance to love this beautiful boy.)

5. If there ever comes a moment where Michael is hurt and used to torment Ryan, that’s the way to break him. Michael is shot and snatched by an enemy, gun barrel to those auburn curls... that’s the only way to end the Vagabond. Ryan would give up anything in the world to have Michael walk away from that situation unscathed, he would give up everything about the Fakes, unable to stand the idea of Michael being hurt because of him. And Michael would later never be able to forgive him for that.

(Thankfully, they have the rest of the crew who would never let it get this bad. They see the shadow of this only once and requires Michael to pull Ryan aside to have a chat. The ensuing love is better kept to the imagination, but Ryan just hopes such a situation never happens again.)

There you go - five angst FAHC myan headcanons! I had to add a bit of the comfort part for my own myan-loving heart. Can’t let the boys suffer too long.

It’s All About Fakes (100 sentence prompts fanfic)

Because I suck a writing even short stories or drabbles, I write 100 sentences prompts for the Fake AH Crew instead.

Some of them are inspired by moments in Let’s Play videos, headcanons, social media posts, or just comes straight out of the blue.

Feel free to take inspiration from the prompts or use them.

Prompts are written from a non-shippy perspective, but each prompt can be intercepted in whatever way pleases.

Also my first work, so let’s see how this goes.

1. How the Fake AH Crew got this far is a hell of story, and you can bet it’s one damn worth telling. (Fake it Til’ You Make it)

2. Ray was a sniper; he could spot bullshit a mile away, so how come he ended up in the Fake AH Crew? (On the Spot)

3. Sitting by the wheel of the red minivan Geoff sighed for the 67th time that day, still disbelieving the fact that they were not on their way to carry through a well-planned heist but rather enroute to the beach for some “splashing and slacking”, as Jack had called it. 4. “The Vagabond says: it’s all gonna be murder.” (What the Vagabond Says)

10. A heavily tattooed man walks into a bar; later, a mad man and a lady in a Hawaii-shirt joins him. (It’s Not a Joke but the Punchline is Fluff)

11. Lindsay and Jeremy have dealt with shit going sideways longer than most people so they know how to make the best of it. (Failure is an Old Friend of Mine)

12. “I hereby announce that the official Prank Wars Week is in session!” (Oh No)

13. The Vagabond might be ready to die, but Ryan knows he’s not. (Ready as I’ll Ever Be)

14. The Lads---and Geoff---gets drunk as hell one night and starts a sock company. (Socks, There’s Socks Everywhere)

15. A boring Fake AH Crew means a dangerous Fake AH Crew and the residents of Los Santos better prepare for chaos. (Boredom Can be a Health Hazard)

16. Ryan gets hiccups and Ray thinks it’s funny until he gets hiccups, too, and soon everyone is stuck with hiccups and everyone blames Ray for some reason. (The Hiccup Disease)

17. When dawn arrives the Fake AH Crew will never be the same again. (Dawn After Battle)

18. Shopping weekends was nothing Lindsay used to do regularly, until Ryan one time decided to come along; then it became a thing. (Stuff We Do Together)

19. Even after leaving the crew, Ray would still have a home to return to. (Home is Wherever You Make it Be)

20. “No---we’re not twins, we’re not brothers, we’re not related in any way, so please for god’s sake, stop asking that.” (Stop the Questions Goddamnit)

21. Jeremy tried to apply more pressure to the wound but as the time on the bomb was running out, so did the blood. (A Mistake You Won’t Live to Learn From)

22. Someone knocks---no, pounds on the door to Ryan’s apartment at 3AM in the morning and Ryan’s still not that happy to being woken up in the middle of the night even if it is Meg waiting behind the door. (Late Night Visitor or Expect the Unexpected)

23. “Hey, guys, Fiona here---you’ll never believe this---but I’m stuck in jail and I need one of you to come and bail me out.” (Let’s Bail)

24. Matt is found alone sitting on top of the roof, watching the sunset, but what Geoff finds is someone who needs to talk and so he decides to be that other someone who listens. (Everyone Needs Someone Sometimes)

25. Gavin gets into trouble, which drags Michael and Jeremy into more trouble, and Geoff just wants to have a fucking drink. (Prepare for Trouble)

26. Gavin makes a statement, and Ryan feat. Alfredo makes it a hundred times worse. (Disturbance of Your Own Making)

27. Being welcomed by the sight of a bloodied and battered Gavin through the open door eliminates any tiredness and annoyance Geoff had worked up to having been woken up by a loud pounding on the door at 2AM. (Bloody Brit)

28. That was the way of the Battle Buddies; if one went down, the other had to keep on going, no matter what. (Broken Promise)

29. Nothing lasts forever, and Ray knows that better than anyone. (Never Say Forever)

30. The remaining Gents as well the rest of the Fakes would always be missing a part of themselves from now on. (Parts & Pieces or Next Step is to Move On)

31. The alphabet wasn’t enough to cover every brilliant plan the Fake AH Crew had in store, but they never settled for a single letter anyways. (Seven Ridiculous Plans and One That Actually Made Sense)

32. To the Lads, brighter days ahead is just an illusion they can only dream of in the aftermath of a heist gone wrong which claimed the lives of the Gents. (Miserable Lads)

33. It’s a story from being refused of coffee, to wanting to commit suicide briefly, to Trevor having made room for tea-parties with Jeremy, Gavin and Lindsay in his schedule every now and then. (Shut Up and Have Some Tea)

34. Really, it all started when Ray wouldn’t leave Geoff’s house one night. (A Place for Everyone)

35. Usually things doesn’t escalate this far by playing a simple Xbox-game but having ended up in jail, Michael and Matt doesn’t have much of a say about it and Geoff’s pissed. (Hate the Players)

36. Waking up in a dark room tied to a chair with no slightest idea of what the hell’s going on tends to lead to some anxiety-ridden experiences, especially when it is Gavin who finds himself in that situation. (Blackout)

37. No one wants to be the only sober one left to take care of a drunk crew, but with Ray gone Ryan just has to accept that this is his life now. (Trust or Sober One)

38. To think it all started that day when Jack saved a drunk man from being robbed in a dark alley. (Mind Your Manners)

39. Neither Lindsay or Michael would force Gavin to put on a brave face after a nightmare; everyone had fears and it was okay to be scared sometimes. (Sharing is Caring)

40. Matt’s life was just another pile of broken pieces until he met Jeremy, and suddenly he had some glue to put the pieces back together. (Glue or Glue My Life Back Together)

41. In the temporary apartment Ray was living in at the moment there was a vase by the kitchen window, always holding five red roses. (A Vase Full of Roses)

42. Geoff’s mood could easily be improved a 100 times better with some nice and warm socks. (Can Never Have Enough of Socks)

FAHC headcannon, Whenever Trevor, Geoff, and Jack are gone - they tell Ryan he is in charge. Then, they go ahead and tell Michael he is in charge of Ryan. Whenever Ryan has a (stupid) idea, Michael glares at him and immediately shuts it down.

Ok not to make this Myan BUT

Michael will basically let Ryan get away with whatever he wants AS LONG AS ITS FUN. Bc its fucking Michael and of course he’s just as crazy as Ryan is, he just has a little more sense (even if its the tiniest bit more)

But then Ryan will sometimes go a bit mad with power and Michael has to step in like “So you’re in charge, huh? Big strong Vagabond’s gonna do whatever he wants huh? You sure?” And that’s ALL IT TAKES. Michael doesn’t even need to glare, doesn’t need to shout or cuss him out or anything, all he needs to do is question him and Ryan is coming running back to him with his tail between his legs like a puppy

Because of course, he would do anything for Michael (and he’s maybe also just a teensy bit afraid of what his husband will do to him if he actually went against him lol) and if Michael isn’t happy then Ryan isn’t either!!

Which basically lends itself to a lot of conversations that go like this: “Michael,,, please :( please can’t I kill him Michael? :(((((” “No” “Oh okay :((((( Sorry dear...”

And like I said, Michael almost always lets him have his way (whereas Geoff and Jack would keep him much more in line), but sometimes Ryan’s just Too Stupid and will get himself hurt, or Michael just likes reminding himself how devoted Ryan is to him

Jason was sweet about the book, as always, and was sad that this will be the last one. I think he’s finally gotten into the idea, but he understands that we can’t keep doing these forever. No matter what, though, I’m proud of what we’ve done! We rock!

As I’ve done for Louden Swain in the past, so shall I do for Jason Manns! But only with your help!

Jason Manns has been an adjacent part of our show for over a decade, now. His music has been featured on the show, and he’s close friends with many of the cast, as well as a frequent collaborator with them, which has brought us so many projects with our favorites! In order to thank him for everything he does for us, I want us to do for him what we’ve done for Louden Swain.

This is just like the Louden Swain Projects of the past, so if you’re familiar with them, this will be old hat for you.

This will NOT include any of his covers albums! This is for his original music, only!

I’m looking for BOTH writers and artists for this! For the Louden Swain projects, we’ve had art/aesthetics/edits for every story and I’d love to do the same with this. Whether you’re drawing or making aesthetics or doing something else, WE WANT YOU. All art and stories will be put together, printed, put in a snazzy binder, and presented to Jason in DC!

Here’s the schedule:

6/22/19 5:00PM EDT - I will post the rules and regs and open the projects up so you guys can start claiming songs. Only one song request at a time (though you can list a backup song or two if your first request is already taken). Once you have finished and posted your first request, then you may make a second request. (Note: Due to a mistake on my part last year, the fic for She Waits has already been written, so this song is not available this year.)

9/2/19 Midnight EDT - Deadline for writers. This gives writers 10 weeks, plus the US Labor Day holiday.

9/29/19 Midnight EDT - Deadline for artists. This give artists 4 extra weeks after the writing is done.

This schedule then gives me about three weeks to put everything together and prep for the con.

Here are the rules (below the cut):

Deadlines are final. NO LATE ENTRIES! If you find you need more time, let me know and we can try to work something out. I’m not going to make a deadline to sign up, but if you sign up the week before the end, you will only have a week to complete your part. If you want to do two, you must finish your first before you will be allowed to reserve a second song.

Artists: - You will be expected to work with writers so the art reflects the story. Whether you pick a song you like and get together with the writer, or pick a writer you like and get together on a song, it doesn’t matter to me. - If you’d like me to pair you with a writer, let me know, and I will match you up with someone. Most times, I have more writers than artists. If you are willing to work for multiple writers, I would be most grateful!!! In the past, I’ve had a pool of artists, and I tried to divvy up assignments as fairly as possible so no one artist gets all the work. - SEND ME AN ASK or an IM or whatever and let me know what you want to do. Whether you’re working with a writer on one, or willing to be part of a pool that works on multiple, just let me know! - When you’re making your art, keep in mind that it will be pasted into a Word document, printed on letter-sized paper, and put into a sheet protector in a binder. You might want to print out what you make to see how it looks on the page. (You can check out the finished projects above for reference.) - You can post your art in your own post and tag me and #2019 Jason Manns FanFic FanArt Project or submit it to me through my blog or send it to me via carrier pigeon (please don’t send it via carrier pigeon, they poop a lot and I have cats) or drop me a line and I’ll give you an email address to send it to. - I would love some original cover art! Writers: - Can be any pairing or ship, reader-insert or OC, or even no pairing, whatever floats your boat. Please no RPF. - Please no smut. Anything else is up for grabs. 8. Can kill you with a pencil

This is so very much Ionavyr. She has a lot of training in murdering people and she’s much better at it than she likes to admit except when she is Very Unhappy. Also, she mostly prefers to arrange for An Accident or for someone else to do the murdering, so for her to be contemplating murdering someone with a pencil, they’d probably have to have hurt Vector. He’s one of the Empire’s last three cinnamon rolls, and she would be Upset if anything happened to him.

(Which is gonna make their reunion Awful, I can’t wait!)

13. Knows random facts about everything

So this is VERY MUCH Ameneth, my Lavellan; I have a short story where she surprises everyone with random horticultural knowledge and everyone is thinking, like, ‘your people are NOMADIC you DO NOT FARM why do you KNOW this’

(her family were gardeners in Arlathan and they remember a tiny bit and the Dalish forget Nothing, Ever because they are a stateless nation of vagabond grad students; one of the things her family kept is random knowledge about the cultivation of oranges)

ALSO, though; this is Hylira, who delivers a resounding ‘fuck you’ through her hairstyle.

She was a Padawan for like 3 days before they went ‘this will probably kill you but it’s Important’ and she was like ‘I will do it (but also fuck you)’ and then they made her a Master and she was like ‘you are doing this to feel better about sending a 16-year-old out to probably die and the hair stays.’

And then it was a statement piece and one of her Signature Things and she was like, I can’t change it now, people Recognize The Hair. :} (she doesn’t smile with any degree of sincerity until after she loses 5 years and Senya adopts her because OH LOOK A PROFOUNDLY DAMAGED FORCE-SENSITIVE CHILD WHO NEEDS A MOTHER. I recognize that the game did not do this but I inadvertently mirrored her and Vaylin really hard and I leaned into it in fic SO.)

Anyway, uh. She’s a complete bitch. Like, she’s mostly Light-Side, but she is capable of that specific kind of horrifying Lawful Neutral awfulness when she’s Mad About Things. She mostly doesn’t have feelings and is sincerely dedicated to the betterment of sentient life and the universe, but like. Occasionally. She is Terrible.

What do you consider when pulling from extra-canonical sources? Are there any requirements a text, film, etc. must meet for you to consider using it? What disqualifies a piece of media from becoming part of your Renfield's canon?

it’s unofficial headcanon day!!

ooh boy!! ok so i take canon as only being the text of the original novel, so all adaptations are extra-canonical to me. the things that i choose to pull are usually on areas of renfield’s life untouched on by canon. so the best example is renfield’s childhood, which we know NOTHING about. so i read or watch other media on dracula or, if i’m really lucky, on renfield specifically, and identify what parts i think work best with the established canon of the original. so anything added has to not just … not offend canon, but it needs to build on canon and do something worthwhile with canon.

‘the book of renfield’ is my main extra-canon source because it has an intimate understanding of the original novel and doesn’t just strive to give you random facts about a childhood renfield MIGHT have had and canon can’t say otherwise, but to give you facts about him that add up to the man you meet in his later life. it answers how he came to be a servant of dracula and it adds something to our understanding of his conflicted relationship with dracula in canon. it talks about his love of animals and this sets up the deep turmoil we see near the end of his life about the existence of an animal soul that could hate him for those he’s killed.

when more than one source is available on a topic, say his pre-asylum adult life, i weight what makes the most sense, what is narratively most relevant, and what builds a more complex character and plays on the themes or symbols already associated with renfield. pre-asylum backstory is talked about in tBoR, ‘renfield: slave of dracula,’ the 1931 tod browning film, and the 1992 coppola film, to pick a few. let’s look at them.

in both the latter films, renfield was previously a solicitor, and this seeks to explain his connection to dracula, which is helpful. he goes mad in these versions from his association with dracula, landing him in the asylum.

‘R:SoD’ makes him a merchant trader, though he never meets dracula in travel, and gives him a family that he thinks he can bring back from the dead with vampire’s powers, which explains his obsession with becoming a vampire himself. his entrance into the asylum is explained as a vicious move by his wife’s family to take his daughter from him, and with her his family’s relative wealth.

‘tBoR’ makes him a nouveau-riche socialite financed by dracula’s wealth and then a vagabond when he tries to refuse that control over him, which sets up renfield’s idea of dependency on dracula. in this version renfield is lured by who he thinks is one of dracula’s brides into the ruins of carfax where he is discovered and presumed mad for screaming at no one about having trusted her years ago and being betrayed by her and dracula.

all of these interpretations could be valuable, but some serve better than others. renfield being a solicitor would be useful, but it edges jonathan out of the story sometimes, so i’m not a fan of that. it also doesn’t seem to fit with the skills and knowledge he has in-canon. making him a merchant seems good in concept, but without meeting dracula, why make him a traveler? ‘R:SoD’ has an interesting and very unique perspective, (and i do take the love interest from that source as part of his adult life, being his only romantic relationship), but their explanation of his incarceration complicates the novel’s canon as it would imply seward had at least SOME contact with renfield’s family and could ask them to fill in blanks about his past. i favor ‘tBoR’ here too for making his arrival narratively relevant to the story at hand, and not a random circumstance of his unrelated life. keeping it centralized to the plot makes for a better narrative, but also explains how he seems to have no resources or family but references diplomatic knowledge of america to quincey, and says he once knew arthur’s father, the former lord godalming, which makes no sense if he held no social status.

any faceclaim is by nature extra-canonical because a book can’t give a faceclaim. in canon verses i use dwight frye because his mannerisms bear the closest resemblance to the novel’s descriptions, though he is DECIDEDLY too young and too small to be canon (for this reason i YEARN for the day when i find a replacement that is in the range of 50-60 in age and can be the jacked grandpa of stoker’s dreams). my modern fc, seb.astion s.tan, was chosen to keep looks consistent-ish with dwight frye BUT get closer to canon in putting the muscular build back on him. faceclaims frustrate me because they’re an extra-canon component i really feel like i’ll never get right without a Truly Canon adaptation.

i could keep going forever, but i think the tl;dr of this answer is: it has to add to and develop renfield in a meaningful way, and you should read ‘tBoR’ because it’s a masterpiece and where much of my extra content comes from.
