Ya like Luigi's Mansion? NAME EVERY LUIGI!!
So this was a small postcard print I drew about Madame Clairvoya, and I also designed a whole set of Mario's Lost Items stickers that fit in her crystal ball!

Pondering the Orb I've been in a huge Luigi's Mansion mood, so here's my first ever drawing of Madame Clairvoya! Luigi's Mansion is property of Nintendo, the art is mine (please don't use my work without my permission- thanks!)

Well, hello again. You all remember this one?
Tumblr media
This statement... It's officially powerless, if I might say so. Why? I tried something different. I'll show you.
Tumblr media
You can see runes in the background. Since her heart quote is "Destiny chooses our paths", I decided to chose the runes meaning "Destiny" and "Journey".
The rune to the left is called "Perthro" and it represents the future. It can also represent hidden meanings, secrets and change. Reversed it can indicate loss of faith. Some of it's keywords are: Fate, mysteries, chance, fortune and unknown.
The rune to the right is called "Raidho". It represents a wheel/is indicative of a journey. I may quote "www.twowander.com".... "This could be both physical travel, as in a holiday or house move, or a spiritual voyage in the expansion of your horizons". Some keywords are: Progress, Movement, journey and travel.

If you were to choose, who is your favorite ghost from all lm franchise?
oh boy this one is tough! I hate picking just one. I have only personally played Luigi's Mansion 3 so I don't know much about the 1st two unfortunately.
i think it would be Dr.Potter, Madame Clairvoya or DJ Phantasmagloria.
Dr.Potter has a really nice area to play in with all the leaves and grass filling the place up. and his design, although basic, really gets the vibe of a science teacher (he reminds me of my old science teacher as well so I'm a bit biased). he also has a cool plant as well :)
Madame Clairvoya is the first nice ghost to Luigi I think so bonus points for that. her design is beautiful to me and her mechanic in the game is a really nice change of pace.
Finally, DJ Phantasmagoria. who doesn't love her? the music is great and the area is really funky and her fight is fun!
i could 100% go into more detail about these three but i dont want to make this post too long just yet. i hope this answer you question!

Bowuigi fans, we don't tall enough about the angsty possibilities of this ship within the context of Luigi's Mansion, especially the first one.
It's strongly implied throughout the game that Bowser died in his last battle against Mario, with his "return" spelling bad news.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now it could just be bad news because Bowser is the bad guy and yada yada...
But here's an idea : imagine that Luigi was either pining for Bowser, or better yet, that they were in a relationship, which had to remain secret for obvious reasons.
Except Mario didn't know that, and at some point confronted Bowser, and...it didn't go well. I don't picture Mario as the kind of person who willingly kills, so it could have been a pure accident, a stroke of horrifying good luck during a battle. But all that matters now is that Bowser is gone.
And Luigi couldn't even mourn him properly, as in everyone's eyes Bowser was a horrible monster whose death was a blessing.
Then in this manor, already a dreadful place with Mario trapped in the middle of these ghosts, Luigi gets told about Bowser being back, revived by King Boo??
Madame Clairvoya could either be ignorant of Luigi's grief, and maybe that's what Luigi thinks as well...but what if she knew people "revived" by King Boo aren't really back, only horrible puppets or undead monsters. And she knows Luigi is the only one who would be happy about Bowser's return. She tries to warn him, but he doesn't listen, hope rising in his heart despite himself. Sure, Bowser won't be a big help for Mario's sake, but the most important is that he's alive again! Oh, Luigi can't wait to find him !! He missed him so much!
And then.
He gets his wish fulfilled in the most horrible way.
Tumblr media
Luigi finding himself facing what should be his lover, but is roaring and behaving exactly like an enemy, attacking him even. Has Bowser gone mad ? Does he think Luigi had a part in his death ? Or...what if all this time Luigi had been wrong. Fooled into believing Bowser was every bit the monster everyone saw. He refuses to believe it but he has to run and defend himself as Bowser mocks and attacks him...
...and then Bowser's head falls.
It wasn't Bowser. Just a corpse puppeteered by King Boo.
Luigi fights. Luigi wins. Luigi saves Mario.
And when he can finally relieve the stress of the night by laughing and crying all at once...
Tumblr media
...the tears aren't just for Mario.

It's Luigi time! Here's some headcanons for Luigi, aka best boy!
1- Luigi has always been timid and shy, but he is genuinely a very heroic guy.
2- Having said that, he used to be a bit more of a punk. And he very often got himself into trouble by defending Mario when he didn't need to.
3- However, Mario also defended Luigi a lot, particularly in highschool and younger years, from bullies who picked on him.
4- That inspired Luigi to learn how to fight, so he could make it easier on Mario, not that Mario minded in the slightest. He'd do anything for his brother
5- Luigi was always a more studious kid then Mario and often helped his older brother with homework and study, not only cause he loved him, but also to thank Mario for everything he did for him.
6- Luigi is very adept at engineering. He is not only great with mechanics (seen in SPM) but he's also great with just general physics and building logistics. He's a smart guy, something Mario is admittedly a little envious of. He could never sit still long enough to learn.
7- I've mentioned this before, but Luigi is bisexual, and is currently dating Daisy. They got together on Christmas Eve thanks to the others.
8- Luigi took a long time discovering himself and came out to Mario first, though that didn't make him any less scared. Of course Mario didn't care who his brother loved, he was the same old Luigi. He just gave him a hug and said 'Thanks for telling me Bro, I'm so proud of you!'
9- Yes, Luigi cried when he said that.
10- Luigi sees Peach as almost an older sister. Not only does she help him with his anxiety and give him advice, but she is very protective of him just like Mario and so in turn, Luigi protects her while still allowing her to fight and do her own thing
11- Luigi has an actual phobia of ghosts. Which of course was not great when Mario was taken by King Boo. However, having Polterpup around and the other Ghosts being much friendlier then they were (at least the ones in Evershade Valley anyway) has made his fear easier to handle.
12- He would not willingly take on King Boo again, and constantly checks with the professor to make sure he hasn't sold any ghost paintings or accidentally let King Boo out of the Poltergust G-00.
13- He actually really likes Gooigi. The professor found a way to give him an actual personality other then Luigi's subconscious and now he's quite fun to be around. Though he still isn't great with English, he learnt to work around it. Using sign language and just plain old writing things down.
14- Speaking of, Luigi knows sign language. He learnt it as a kid when he met a little girl who was deaf and wanted her to have a friend.
15- Kinda odd, but Gooigi tastes like coffee. The professor wanted to see, for no real reason other then curiosity, and that was the result.
16- Luigi is actually okay now with some of the ghosts from The Last Resort Hotel, like Morty, Steward, Dr. Potter and Nikki, Lindsey and Ginny. After they finally were able to stop working for Hellen, they actually weren't too bad and became much nicer. Well except Morty, who was always nice.
17- There are of course some ghosts who still hate him, but Luigi just doesn't talk to them. Namely King Boo, Hellen Gravely and also Amadeus Wolfgeist.
18- He's also okay with Madame Clairvoya from the first Luigi's Mansion, as she was the only truly kind and helpful ghost there.
19- Luigi can cook and bake, though his specialities are all Italian family recipes. (You won't hear Mario complaining.)
20- Some toads in the Mushroom Kingdom are actually quite awful to Luigi and have made him genuinely upset many times. Don't worry though, Toad, Toadette, and the blue and yellow toads are all very kind to him. As for the others? Well it's died down a lot since Mario and Peach found out and had a um...word to them. Oh and also Toadsworth is very kind to Luigi. Though admittedly the younger Mario brother does find him a bit boring.
Okay, I hope you enjoyed that list. That one was much bigger than the others have been previously. But I still hope you liked it.
I hope you have an amazing day guys! Bye!

The Luigi's Mansion series makes the most "established" Mario timeline to date. In its first chapter we find out trought the ghost medium Madame Clairvoya, that Bowser is dead, and the fact is supported further by the villain's absence in the sequels. Also that same spirit is terrified of the Koopa King. In conclusion: this is a universe where Bowser was a real threat but Mario terminated him.

Is it possible that Madame Clairvoya from Luigi’s Mansion is actually a Shaman from Super Mario RPG?
I’m sure many of you are familiar with the Shamans from Super Mario RPG, which went on to play a major role in Paper Mario, Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario. These odd folk are are depicted as magicians and fortune tellers. Many use Crystal Balls to predict the future and guide Mario on his adventures, usually by reading the Stars.
In Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, we received some elaboration on who these Shamans are:
About Merlon on the east side of Rogueport and Merluvlee underground... Ol' Wonky hears they're from a strange tribe that names people by profession. So, for example, if someone did the same work as Merlon, they'd have the same name... So there could be Merlons all over. Don't you find that strange? Wonky does!
[Source: Wonky, Info guy, Non-player character in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, October 2004]
Meanwhile in Super Paper Mario, Shamans became the focus of the game, where they are revealed to be the descendants of the Tribe of Ancients, a people who had magic powerful enough to predict the distant future and transfer spirits of the dead into “Thinking Tools” called Pixls.
So yeah, ever heard of an advanced civilization called the Tribe of Ancients? They were, like, a thousand times smarter than you or me.
[Source: Garson, Owner of The Underwhere, Non-player character in Super Paper Mario, April 2007]
So yeah, you meet Merlon and Merlee yet? They're descendants of the Ancients and distantly related to each other, I hear.
[Source: Garson, Owner of The Underwhere, Non-player character in Super Paper Mario, April 2007]
So do you know how the Pixls came to be? A powerful magician among the Ancients created them about 3,000 years ago. He did it by transferring a spirit into a vessel he created for that purpose. He's said to have created 12 Pixls like this before he passed away. But his apprentices kept researching Pixls after his game ended... They learned to create many more Pixls based on his original 12. These Pixls became widely used as 'thinking tools' for the grateful Ancients. Through the work of many Pixls, the Ancients prospered as they never had before.
[Source: Carson, Owner of The Overthere, Non-player character in Super Paper Mario, April 2007]
In Luigi’s Mansion, Madame Clairvoya is a fortune teller who uses a Crystal Ball to read Mario’s items and guide Luigi. Her senses from reading the Crystal Ball are incredibly similar to those of the Shamans, with both seeing locations and people from the present or near future within their Crystal Balls and interpreting what they see into advice for the heroes. It’s also stated that Madame Clairvoya can see nearly 49 days into the future thanks to her close connection to the spirit world.
Tumblr media
Madame Clairvoya actually wears similar clothing to many Shamans, particularly Shaman women, such as long robes, a headscarf and a veil covering her mouth. While the Shamans have largely been covered by shadows throughout their appearances thanks to their outfits, they are described as humans several times in Super Paper Mario, which aligns with Madame Clairvoya’s clearly human appearance.
Tumblr media
Madame Merlar from Paper Mario and Merlumina from Super Paper Mario both return as ghosts long after their deaths and continue to serve as helpful guides, as is the case with Madame Clairvoya.
Tumblr media
Madame Clairvoya also describes the Crystal Ball she uses as a "symbol of [her] clan”. This clan could very well be the Tribe of Ancients, whose descendants are shown to consistently use Crystal Balls to perform their work.
Tumblr media
Finally - and this is what really got me to consider this possibility in the first place - the Japanese name of every member of the Tribe of Ancients and their descendants follows the same naming conventions, with all of their names being a play-on-words with the addition of the endings "ēru", "āru" or simply "ru", originating from the Japanese name of the Shaman species in Super Mario RPG, "Supēru". This also applies to Madame Clairvoya, whose Japanese name is “Madamu Miēru”.
Tumblr media
What do you guys think? Could Madame Clairvoya actually be a descendant of the Ancients? If so, this is certainly a very interesting connection from Luigi’s Mansion back to Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario, though it wouldn’t be the first!

Fun fact. When Luigi’s Mansion first came out there was a conspiracy theory that King Boo was actually Bowser’s ghost. This was based off mainly two things. The final boss fight and what Madam Clairvoya says when you give her Mario’s final dropped item. Clearly that didn’t become canon, but it was a really fun theory back then.
That's an interesting theory! If that were true it would make King Boo's crown all the more comical. Even in death, Bowser is dripped the fuck out
I think my favourite theory from LM1 was that Bowser was actually dead and King Boo possessed his body to use in battle
