Ok! My thoughts on 7x05!
First, i just wanna say that the whole Hen and Karen storyline is awesome! I love that the show is giving queer people so much screen time, especially a Black lesbian couple! And i think its super sweet that they really want to try for Mara! I hope it works out!
Next, i think that has been my favorite cold open so far. The “ITS MEEE” gets me every time (i have already watched it loads of times). I dont have much to comment on it other than it was funny as fuck
Ok. The date scene. I was hoping to see more of Eddie watching them (especially after the stills), but oh well. The second-hand embarrassment i got was… a lot. But i dont think its necessarily a bad thing. It showed how out of his comfort zone Buck was and how he was trying to navigate a terrifying situation. And Tommy? I might have to retract my earlier retraction. Cos wtf?? Literally had just finished talking about how its hard to accept yourself in a “macho” field, then makes a dig at Buck when he fumbles? Not cool. Then not communicating what was happening until he was getting in the Uber? You dont just abandon someone at a restaurant like that. I understand the “you’re not ready” thing, but that was a dick move.
Also, Buck, baby. Sweetheart. Darling. “I look at hot guys’ asses.” Sweetie. Like Maddie said. You are more than an ally lmao. I also just love how Maddie showed interest in getting to know who Buck was talking about and treating the convo after like a normal convo. Because it is! And i love it! But she also emphasized talking to Eddie, because she knew that Eddie would not react poorly. I feel like that just shows how everyone knows how close Buck and Eddie are. TLDR, Maddie is an awesome sister and Buck is lucky to have her ❤️
Next point, the scene where Buck and Tommy talk over coffee. I do think that the hand holding at the end is very sweet and shows how Buck is really trying to be more open, but Tommy is just really starting to rub me the wrong way. Pretty much everything he said contradicts what happened in the date scene. I feel like him being at the wedding is really gonna spark some Jealous Eddie, tho, so i am excited to see that lmao
And Eddie and Marisol? I feel like the show is going in a direction that leads them to breaking up. Like yes, it is showing growth for Eddie and allowed him to acknowledge that he has Catholic guilt, but theres just. No chemistry. It feels awkward. I feel like her being an ex-nun is gonna bring up some issues with Buck and Eddie will not stand for that. I also wanted to point out that i got even more vibes that Eddie could be demisexual, cos he didnt straight up say that he loved Shannon, just that he loved being married to her. And he knows that he is moving too fast and needs to step back a bit
Finally, Buck coming out to Eddie. I do find it funny that Eddie seemed more shocked that Tommy wasnt straight than figuring out Buck isnt straight. But its awesome that Eddie showed interest and genuinely wanted to help Buck through the issue. And the hug? Finally! Give me men not being afraid to hug each other! I feel like this is allowing Buck and Eddie to become even closer (i do hope for Buddie eventually)
Overall, i feel like this episode was great for setting up the development of Buck and Eddie’s relationship (whether it ends up being platonic or romantic). And i am all for Buck exploring his sexuality with someone that isnt Eddie. While Tommy isnt my favorite right now, i do think that he is great for the progression of Buck’s story. I do hope to see more of Dad!Bobby in the coming episodes and how Buck’s parents might react to Tommy. I dont wanna wait three weeks for the next episode 😢. Im ready for the chaos of the Madney wedding
If i think of anything else ill add on, but i think thats all i have for now. Feel free to share your thoughts!

may be an unpopular opinion, but I hope buck and eddie don't hook up next episode. don't get me wrong i still want buddie endgame, but not so quickly. ep 4 threw them off-kilter, and as close as they were in ep 5, there was still a wall between them for most of the episode. i need to see them be best friends again, real, honest, best friends before i can contemplate them as anything else.
also, as much as i love buddie, not everything should be about them. buck's sexuality arc is about buck, not buddie. he doesn't like tommy, because he's misplacing his feelings for eddie, he likes tommy because he's bi and he likes boys (and tommy's really hot). and the madney wedding, should be about MADNEY. we haven't really gotten any scenes of them together this season, they deserve to have a wedding that's about them

Episode thoughts!!
What was with Chimney really emphasizing how small that couple’s house was? Like they made a really big deal out of the size of their house only for it not to be about the house at all? Like why are we house shaming? You just bought this house recently with help from your in-laws.
Marisol rubbing up on Eddie’s arm in the date scene was big cringe. Same with them standing in the hallway in each other’s arms. They really forced that blocking and I did not care for it. Also… there was a flashback to 2 months earlier. We know they were leaving for the cruise at the end of season 6. One can assume we’re picking up from there. So the time jump is only as long as that weird recovery part of the season 6 finale plus a few days or so. So they’ve been dating for that long and she’s already super involved in Chris’ life. I’m not a single parent, but I feel like that’s fast. Eddie really in his romantic idgaf era.
Buck saying “you don’t want him to end up like me,” after Eddie kind of implies that Chris is acting a little Buck 1.0 was wild. Especially because “you didn’t even end up like you.” Didn’t technically refute anything. If we’re going off the idea that ABC is reintroducing these characters, they’re showing Buck as a reformed playboy— a guy’s go-to guy. Idk something weird there.
I LOVED that scene with Shannon. We all knew it was her letter so that wasn’t a surprise, but ugh I loved her appearing there. And Gavin did a great job with everything he had.
Go kart Buck🥰
Hated that hot tub call. It made me a little creeped out and I know everyone is loving Eddie talking that girl out of being nervous, and I do love that he’s open about his panic attacks, but I’m sorry, I just can’t see the scene as anything other than him talking to her until she literally gets unstuck from her boyfriend’s penis and ew. Love open Eddie, hated how uncomfy the sex jello scene was. Oliver’s face was gold though.
“Let’s talk about what else is dead on the ship because I think it may be our marriage” goes HARD. Gives me Bathena conversation from pre-Eddie being shot vibes.
Natalia and Buck’s breakup makes sense. I disagree with other people who are saying it seemed like a cover for something else. I think it really is just that in the months or less that they were dating, that it’s probably true that she was hung up on his death and death in general.
“Bobby picked a good day to go on his honeymoon” oh, so, they DID tell someone they were leaving and going on a cruise.
Are we just going to pretend the timeline of all this makes sense?
Madney my love, but Chim… With a wedding and a whole child, you think you’d ask if you can buy a hot tub.

🚨🚨🚨 uh oh clown alert!
listen. listen to me. buck is going to win the lottery in the 6b finale "pay it forward" and then give all of it to his friends and family. possibly via anonymous "angel donation?"
and i can prove it too - spec under the cut!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
these are all from 6a&6b episode transcripts. opening and closing a season with "let the games begin" and "pay it forward" can't be a coincidence! and we know hen filled out lottery tickets for everyone in the firehouse, so there's a ticket with buck's name on it that's already been played.
maddie's joked with buck twice now this season about buying lottery tickets- the second time, she told him he should play the lottery because he "got so lucky," referring to him surviving the lightning strike.
pre-lightning, we had buck telling hen in cursed that he was "having a run of bad luck" but that it would "turn around tomorrow," in reference to a non-anonymous DONATION (!!!) not going as planned.
what if the lightning, cleansing fire that it off symbolizes, basically "burned through" the rest of his bad luck, clearing the way for one helluva lucky streak?
we got the buckley diaz family joking that he might "gain more powers" as he "gets stronger." sure, math helps with poker i guess, but you know what else would help? luck.
the symbolism of buck, someone conceived for the express purpose of making a bone marrow donation he had zero say in, someone who only recently donated sperm (partially) because he felt, in his own words, like he "couldn't say no," receiving an unexpected windfall of cash, and having the freedom and the privacy to make financial donations on his own terms, of his own free will, with zero outside pressure, as opposed to making organ/tissue donations out of obligation? SO poetic.
he's not the guy who tries to fix things, anymore- he knows his own worth, and he knows he's loved, and he no longer values himself solely on what he can do for others. he doesn't think he has to earn people's love, anymore- he knows his family loves him anyway. but he'll always be buck. he'll always want to help. and there's a massive difference between helping someone just because you want to, and trying to fix everything for someone because you've convinced yourself it's what you have to do in order for them to love you back.
so: buck wins the lottery. he regifts all of it to the people in his life, quite literally paying it forward, echoing athena and hen's conversation in 911 what's your fantasy about winning the lottery and giving it all away "to people" in your community, rather than to charities. maybe some of it's anonymous, maybe some of it isn't- realistically, if everyone in the 118 suddenly gets anonymous checks in the mail, they're going to figure out it's buck eventually. but it's the spirit of the thing.
they were filming at a cruise ship dock for the finale- buck gifts bobby and athena tickets to a cruise, to replace the honeymoon cruise they missed. he probably makes a donation to bobby's AA chapter.
we know madney get in trouble with the IRS in 6x15 death and taxes, so maybe he helps them out of that jam. pays off their mortgage, helps with the renovation costs, maybe chips in towards a wedding celebration.
maybe he pays off hen's med school loans, or makes a donation to help karen's coworkers injured in the explosion, maybe a recurring monthly stipend they can use to buy fun toys for any new foster kids, something like that.
maybe he's moving in with eddie anyway, so he buys out the rest of his lease from his landlord and transfers the apartment to taylor, on the SOLE condition that she CANNOT run a news story that he's the guy who won the lottery. (i despise taylor just as much as the next girl, believe me, but megan west was on the fox lot for a hot minute, so if it ends up being for 911 and not some other show, then, well, here we are.) he did admittedly put her in a real shit situation, re: her lease and all the move-in drama. this might be a nice way of clearing the air. fucking with someone's living situation is a tremendously shitty thing to do, and i think he knows that. plus, it would make for a good parallel to abby leaving buck to housesit her place indefinitely with zero closure, and also, i just hate the loft and want it gone forever, sorry!
college fund and surfing lessons for chris, obvs.
vegas couples' trip for him and eddie.
which brings me to the connor and kameron of it all- i remember seeing a (very blurry, zero context) behind the scenes picture that looked like it MIGHT have *MAYBE*, *POSSIBLY* been buck talking to a pregnant woman in his loft. and connor's been acting real shady. and 6x13 mixed feelings had entirely too many lines about "blaming someone else for lies YOU told" re: fathers and sons. soooo... i think there's a fair chance connor could flake on kameron and leave her last-minute. he thought he wanted to be a dad, but he wasn't actually ready. or maybe he thought he'd be okay with using a sperm donor, but turns out he's not. or maybe he just liked the idea of being able to give kameron what she wanted, but he realizes it's not actually what he wants for himself. something like that. (side note: this would be SUCH a good opportunity to contrast him with buck and highlight all buck's character growth!) and he skips town- in the end, he's the one who winds up "being a father and walking away."
but buck has a chance to draw a real boundary, here! he's not this baby's dad, and he knows that. maybe kameron's ready and willing to take on being a single mom. buck already has his own family, with eddie and chris. he's not this baby's dad, because he's a dad already. but he *is* "responsible for the creation of new life," as he put it, and we heard an awful lot of talk from oliver about buck "owning his choices" and taking responsibility for them re: this plotline. so, boundaries: he's not the dad, just a friend who wants to help- he knows firsthand from eddie how hard single parenting can be, and connor taking off was a real asshole move, and kameron is a grown woman perfectly capable of raising this kid on her own, and she really wants to be a mom, but she DID get left in the lurch through no fault of her own, and that's not fair to her. so buck offers to set up a standing payment from his lottery winnings to help her cover childcare expenses and whatnot, at least while she finds her footing and tries to work some kind of formal divorce agreement out with connor, if not in perpetuity. (hell, maybe she's who he gives the loft to, not taylor!) but he helps her in some way- a sperm donation he was always sorta on the fence about, paired with a financial donation that he's certain is the right choice, and one he wants to make. standing by his past choices, honoring them, and helping nurture them.
(besides, he's saving on rent anyway, now that he's moving into the diaz house.)
maybe kameron, as a token of gratitude towards buck for helping her fulfill her dream of having a child, as a gesture of reciprocity for his assisted-reproduction donation, offers a parting quip of "well, buck, if you and your boyfriend are ever looking for a surrogate or an egg donor, you know who to call. i'd love to return the favor!" as her own way of paying it forward.
anyway, the point is this: in a season about games and money and paper trails and gambling and luck and winning and lottery tickets, i'd bet good money that we're gonna see buck win the lottery this season. how he'll actually wind up spending the money is just a guess on my part, but the actual lottery bit itself? that much i'm sure of!

I think part of the reason the fandom hasn't made the Madney wedding about Madney is due to the lack of build up. We got the dating forever storyline and a hot tub and that is it between those two. I mean fandom will always fandom but the lack of build up hasn't helped.
sorry anon but i'm going to be a little salty here. we haven't had much build up to bucktommy either but that hasn't stopped people coming up with endless scenarios for the two of them for the next episode.
and just so i'm not making this entirely anti-bucktommy, which isn't my intention, i've been annoyed when people have tried to make the wedding too much about buddie too.
idk what the show is going to do but while i'm of course expecting other character beats too, i really hope the core take away from the episode is the beauty of chimney & maddie's relationship, how much they love each other, how much they've come through to get to this moment together.
eta: have to add one more thing. we've had 5 seasons of build up to this wedding lol

You know, from scenes on tumblr, I was prepared to like Tommy in the short term and be excited for bi rep on tv. But now that I’ve seen the episodes, I actually uh… don’t.
Like, I’m still excited for the rep because as someone who rode the allyship to closeted bisexuality to open bisexuality pipeline late in life just like Buck is, I was ready for this storyline to be deeply personal to me.
I just don’t really like Tommy? And not even… this isn’t even about the Buddie of it all. Maybe it’s Lou’s line delivery that makes every line sound condescending to me, but it doesn’t read as Gentle Older Queer’s Fond Exasperation to me. It’s actually kind of grating. Feels snarky in a lot of places where I don’t think it’s intended to feel snarky and it’s putting me off. Maybe it’s just because Lou has a strong valley accent? Idk but it’s not working for me.
Also the chemistry between him and Oliver is off. Like way off. Every scene reeks of “two heterosexual actors trying really hard to sell same sex attraction” to the point where it makes the episodes feel *silly.*
And you know, it’s actually not even just Oliver and Lou. It’s like everyone connected to this particular storyline the last two episodes has forgotten how to line read like the good actors I know they are. Ryan and Jen included (although I think Jen’s been the most believable so shoutout to her).
Weirdly high voices, incorrect pacing like they’re rushing through their lines, exaggerated expressions and inflections... Although Ryan is also struggling with this Marisol storyline, but that’s probably because the storyline is fucking stupid lmao. Not the religious trauma arc, that’s got potential, that could be good. It’s just the tone of it right now that’s stupid.
Actually, going back to my earlier point about how things feel *silly* maybe that’s my real issue with this season. Or these last two episodes anyway. You have this incredibly important storyline of Buck’s coming out, and it’s been relegated to the comedy portion of the episodes.
Hen and Karen and Mara? Serious in tone. Feels important. Athena and Harry? Serious in tone. Feels important. Buck’s jealousy and his date? Played for goofy laughs. His coming out to Maddie? Sweet but also kind of played for laughs with the whole “I’ll check out a hot guys ass/it’s not abnormal 👀”.
And I’m not saying it has to be this totally serious, really heavy storyline. It’s just that… they swung in the totally opposite direction. Instead, everyone feels over exaggerated, like they’re trying too hard to treat it with care but also like It’s NOT A Big Deal.
I dunno. Maybe after the Madney wedding, and especially if Lou sticks around, they can correct some of this. Maybe as the actors settle into the storyline, it’ll get better. But I’m just bummed right now because I was really excited for this after seeing all of the hoopla on tumblr (I was still catching up when these episodes aired), and it just hasn’t delivered for me.

small thing i don’t think i’ve seen anyone talk about, but i also love the double meaning of the title
love is in the air is a pretty common expression, meaning everywhere you look things are all blissful and lovey-dovey, which obviously reflects hen and karen, bobby and athena, MADNEY my beloveds, and the older couple who got married after the call
but in the air by itself is also an expression, meaning things are unsettled, undecided. the love hasn’t been resolved yet. this relaying to the future of the woman who lost her husband, the couple who got engaged but whose future together looks doomed, and obviously buck and eddie, who both interacted with a possible love interest, but neither really solidified anything. the endgame is still tbd…
YES! AND there’s a practical layer to it as well. This show has Things To Say about love—Buck’s hot air balloon date with Abby was a bust, they met Taylor when she was in a helicopter crash, they’ve had multiple proposals related to air-events (including the guy this episode and that one several seasons back where he faked that the helicopter was crashing etc)—and this is also just a few episodes after the Bathena flashbacks where Wendell suggests that Athena makes him feel like he’s “flying high” and Bobby responds that she makes him feel like he’s “on solid ground.” Love has never been “in the air” on this show, true love has always been about being grounded, safety, home, not “flying high.” So yes I love this episode and the title for so many reasons

hiii k, how are you? Please tell me your thoughts on the last couple episodes (if you want) or you could tell me about your life! I’m not picky just happy to hear from you 💜
Alex! Always a joy to hear from you <3
My life is so boring lol so let's talk about 9-1-1 bc that shit is GIVING. I've loved this whole season! I think it's taking the #1 spot for me tbh. Starting the season on a new network with a Bobby and Athena centered arc was such a good choice, they command absolute attention when they're on the screen.
And obviously I'm over the moon at Buck's storyline and self-discovery this season, like hello!! And Tommy is endearing af. He's becoming blorbo shaped before my very eyes djdjsjsj I think Buck and Tommy are adorable, and I am looking forward to seeing more of them!
Right now I'm vibrating over the next episode. Madney wedding? Chimney in another Situation? Buck and Eddie being dumb and dumber? Kinkley wedding dance possibility?? God this season is hit after hit
It's hot girl rot girl night (let's chat!)

Buck, you got him back! I needed this after the Marisol bit. All in all, a pretty good episode.
I am interested in this storyline with Henren. There are so many children in the foster care system with traumatic pasts that should be talked about. I hope we get a bigger storyline next season for them.
Not much on Madney, but looking at the trailer for the next episode, they have they spotlight in that one.
Trying to connect with Eddie's story with Marisol, but it was kind of silly. I know that it deals with his repression, and it's the next step for him. He's only been with her for a few months. It did seem fast so I am thinking there might be a wall to hit soon.
I loved Buck and Maddie. Buck coming out little by little in the conversation was so cute and funny. With her "tell me more about the hot pilot".
I've got a couple of weeks to go back over the first episodes and look deeper into the underlying themes and symbols. I am so excited watching 911 again. I'm still flying high off of last episode. I'll write some more thoughts down tomorrow once I get my head on straight.

Tim Minear wrote episode 6 with Nicola. Nicola specializes in Madney stuff, Tim usally writes stuff with serious implications so what's so important in episode 6 that he had to write a part of the episode?
So Tim has been known to write a lot of the big disasters or intense moments on the show. He was part responsible for Doug stabbing Chim in 2.11 and for the firetruck bomb exploding and Buck getting stuck in the crosshairs. We also had him co-write “Panic” which was a whole disaster of itself. If what I’m thinking is correct, something does, in fact happen to chimney, which leads him to be hospitalized before/during the wedding. And I think Buck and Eddie, being Buck and Eddie somehow get involved either trying to help him or help others on their way to the wedding. Since Ryan is without a shirt, I could totally see him taking off his shirt to help someone in need. I just don’t think Buck and Eddie would show up to Buck’s sister‘s wedding looking like a hot ass mess. Something definitely went down and I think that’s where Tim comes in to write that disastrous event that has to be connected to Chimney. They gotta create some angst bc god forbid they have a smooth sailing wedding right? Lol it wouldn’t be 911 if something didn’t go wrong.

alright casual 911 viewer roomie was traveling this week so we had to rewatch 6x11 last night, her thoughts below:
"This child (Jee)'s sleep schedule is a plot device"
when Buck get's rolled into the hospital "too many sad dads. and one very sad husband"
"HIS KIDS????????" shouted so loudly and for so long that she missed the teacher reveal and we had to rewind
Thunder by Imagine Dragons playing when coma!Buck shows up at Chimney's apartment had us both dying laughing
"No one's tchotchkes are safe" about the train in Chimney's apartment
"I hope the sister and the guy (Madney) get married at the firehouse and then gay dads (Buddie) decide to get married too in a Mamma Mia-esque 'everyone lives happily ever after' way"
Athena saying "Buck is going to be fine. He has to be" roomie responded "because this is a TV show. And he's hot. And he's one of the only single characters left"
"Awwww dream Chimney called him Buck"
"Which one is that one. They all look so similar" this is baffling to me. She got Buck, Eddie, and Doug confused all episode.
Hen saying "you'd be angry too if you lost your kid" roomie goes "THEY KILLED THE KID?????????" once again so loudly that she missed the context of how Eddie lost Christopher
"How are they not making a consistently bigger deal out of them co-raising this child. I mean I guess it's not that weird. We might have a kid together" apparently we might have a kid together, this was news to me
When Chris tells Buck he has to "come back" and coma!Buck echoes it with "I think maybe I'm supposed to come back to where it all started" she fully started sobbing. She had never seen Chris before watching this episode
"I thought she was handing him a head of cauliflower" when May is forcing a sandwich on Bobby outside the hospital. "Don't tell the people on the internet I said that!!!!" I am telling them
Had to pause for a good 15 minutes to explain the 118 extended family tree. She did not get it. To be fair the Buckley and Han parents being around does make it REALLY confusing
"ANOTHER OMINOUS TCHOTCHKE!!!!" She loved the trauma tchotchkes
"Love snarky dead drug addict dad. Wish he could stick around"
"Love how this guy floated no other alternatives beyond being in a coma dream. Like it couldn't just be a regular dream. He hasn't entertained the option that he like accidentally took a hallucinogenic drug or something" I informed her he has in fact been accidentally drugged before "Okay so I'm hearing that there were multiple other conclusions he could've come to. But he just knew it was a coma dream. okay."
"oh he knew he was in a coma dream but he was SHOCKED to see his body in a coma"
"This show is so corny"
Buck telling his parents "I know you did the best you could" roomie says "NO THEY DID NOT. They My Sister's Keeper'd you dude"
"Oop...okay. I guess" at evil!Buck
"Okay now hurry up and fix your self esteem so you can take a breath"
"through the power of self love he has summoned a magical dream ax"
Bobby asking what he was like in the dream she goes "you were like a.....spooky jokester"
"What the fuck is up with the couch metaphor"

Hahahahahahaha. And here we go again, clowning for another year! LOL.
Is it weird that what I’m maddest about at the episode was that they hit EVERY.SINGLE.HOLLYWOOD.CLICHE on the birth scene and then had the gal to give Buck that line about how he’s a professional.
HOT WATER AND TOWELS BOY? (And not even boiled water too, I mean wtf, LOLOL)
(and I am also looking at you Howard Han, but I’m leaving that down to general befuddlement because an ambulance just fell on you)
Anyway. I can’t believe this is the moment they finally got me with the sperm donor storyline. Because to me, it’s not about Buck not getting the family he so badly wants anymore (look right next to you, buddie, I beg of you, but I digress) or choosing a healthy place for himself to keep the kid in his mind (dad vis a vis donor) - I finally understood the assignment.
Buck has had to face the fact that he was chosen to be made, not to be loved, but for a purpose. A purpose that he couldn’t fullfil through no fault of his own, but that has haunted his life forever before he even knew why.
Now he CHOSE a son to be MADE for LOVE.
That’s it.
That’s what it was all about it. It doesn’t matter that he had to give him up (and he’ll get to be in his life for sure one way or the other, so I’m not actually worried about that anymore). The legacy he’s leaving to that little boy that is part of him is getting to grow up being loved the way Buck should have and deserved to grow up being loved.
And now he can let go of that trauma.
He doesn’t have to be anything for anybody.
He can go figure out who he is now without that expectation. He got to say goodbye to the spectre of Daniel and he got to say goodbye to the couch that was chosen for him. And yes, even though he’s still stumbling into a relationship again without really being ready (in the sense that he still hasn’t figured out how he feels about his death) at least he’s actively asking for help choosing for himself. And hell, maybe that’s not too bad a thing. Cause that’s what Natalia does right? Helps people choose how to live their life purposefully and meaningfully and offer companionship along the way. (And maybe she learned something too of the experience?) So Buck can grow a little more, gain the confidence to figure out what it actually is that he wants and then ask for it. CHOOSE life.
Maybe Eddie actually choosing to do the dating thing, to LEARN how to do it, properly, in a way that doesn’t put pressure on him, that’s just figuring out, is a good thing too?
People, hell the show itself, has been talking about how he’s had to mature too fast. Grow up skipping past a lot of milestones, hell his OWN SON is roasting him for his game like a peer instead of an adult. Maybe Eddie has to take that step first to play, to experiment, to just be - in order to also figure out what he wants. When you first start dating things are very serious (Shannon), sometimes you mess up because you haven’t figured yourself out yet (Ana), then you just try to find your footing and have fun with each other and learn (I can see that happening with Marisol) and when you’ve learned your lessons, made your mistakes, had your fun... you’ve matured enough to find what you’ve been making for a long, long time (Buck).
So yeah... typing up all this stream of consciousness I seem to have talked myself out of being mad at were our boys ended up? Funny how that goes.
And yes, this had the feel of a possible series finale that they pulled up very well and that tied up a lot of things (I’m looking at you beautiful beautiful people, Bathena, getting your cruise, dreadful hawaii print and all, and Madney continuing to build the life they choose, growing healthy together which is so fun to watch and Henren finally with a dream they’d all but given up in reach) - but a show does only keep our attention if it leaves its characters some road to go (room to grow or rope to hang themselves, your pick, lol). So since we are actually getting another shot to see them back, I am hopeful now.
So... tldr, I actually want to thank the fandom community here, all the smart, witty, compassionate people digging for the deeper meaning way past what the writers probably intended or even knew was there themselves. Y’all spread your takes and I know whenever I’ve finished watching I’ll go here and find something to explain to me why I shouldn’t be mad about stuff or how I missed that hidden parallel or how someone agrees with my view and I always come away in awe of all the thoughtfulness that goes into all of it.
My little pocket friends, we live to clown another day, here’s to a summer of meta, fix it fic, season 7 spec - this has been my first season in real time, it was an honor and a privilege.

SaL anon here my friend and first off these are for you (🍸🫂) X 1000. Second just wow, I clearly underestimated the depth of KR's pettiness and apparent loathing for the fanbase. I'm not one to say you have to or should cater to the fans wishes, but some things really do seem to be done out of spite since they are clearly not done because its good or even sensible storytelling. Third, it truly takes some kind of "talent" to so completely ruin the messages and storytelling of an entire show so completely in one season (and no, I am not just referring to Buddie, pretty much every character suffered from the great S6 KR retcon), it takes even more to say to yourself "yeah, this is the way it should end". I can say with some assurance that if KR is still around for S7, I won't be.
And no I'm not forgetting Tim in all this, he calls the final shots and distracted or not he still signed off on the undoing of his own storytelling. At this point I think he has a 3 season limit to his abilities, and after that get ready to be disappointed.
All the hugs, wine, and eventual hot chocolate for you bestie. I may be caught up in episodes, but I haven't spent the same amount of time and hope you and many others did on this show, to feel all that promise and watch it slowly start to fade (it was already on its way down by the time I got involved). I truly don't have words for this.
"great S6 KR retcon" please! 🤣🤣🤣 I am literally like...speechless. I was prepared for maybe some Marisol mention but not *that* and I was prepared for the couch to be about Buck making a choice for himself, but Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ even MY pessimistic ass didn't see THAT coming. I am just....WTF was that?! Legitimately, we got Bathena FINALLY getting the honeymoon, we got Henren getting a baby girl, we got Madney planning their wedding, and then Buck and Eddie got shoehorned in with random women just to make sure if the show was going off the air that everyone knew that KR would rather flush seasons of storytelling and character arcs out the window rather than allow anyone to interpret the finale as anything other than Buck and Eddie being straight and ending the show paired up with LITERALLY ANY WOMAN so long as people couldn't draw Buddie conclusions?! Even Buddie aside they knew all season this was coming but they couldn't risk fandom tuning out and not hyping up the show so they would rather tell a poorly done half-assed story rather than show their hand early that they have only ever been using fandom to hype the show up. (Also, was Ravi even in the end montage?! KR taking a parting shot in what would be the series finale to erase him again.)
ANYWAY.
I would like to send YOU a thousand drinks and hugs and a MILLION apologies for dragging you into this show only to watch it go down in flames. From the bottom of my heart, my bad. And I will not hold it against you for dipping out for season 7, and thanks for always being my inbox bestie. We'll find things to talk about and if we're all very lucky, ABC will do the right thing and make some changes. If not, it's been a fun ride with you!
Sorry to everyone else in my inbox, I am going to go read some fluffy Buddie fic while trying to block the last 10 minutes of the episode from my brain and then I'm going to sleep. I am...tired.
So one last time tonight and said with my whole entire chest, ABC FIRE KR.

i feel like a lot of my issue with 6a so far is it almost feels disjointed, both the storylines and the tone, things haven't flowed or whatever. so there's been individual episodes and scenes that are great but it hasn't all quite gelled for me yet. (thought i'm still giving it time)
Im with you friend! And forgive me but I’m gonna use your ask to just ramble for a second here.
Lets look at what what we’ve gotten in these first 8 episodes shall we?
6x01: a very lackluster premiere. Some Madney feels, a little Buckley Diaz family. But overall? Alright.
6x02: some good Hen stuff but very disjointed overall.
6x03: a heavy Bathena episode but yall know I was not a fan of that episode. I’m black, I know what our trauma looks like. I didnt need a reminder. But it was good ep for Athena
6x04: good moments with Eddie, the sperm donor story begins. Hen decides to try again
6x05: i dont even remember what happened in this one…i know Eddie looked hot at the end though. Oh! They made the young black dispatcher a criminal! How could I forget🥴
6x06: HENREN! BEST EPISODE THIS SEASON.
6x07: lots of Eddie. Buck being used for laughs. Fun but…?
And lastly tonight’s episode…what really happened? Uncle Buck was adorable. athena/may was cool.
I say all this to say, good moments do not a great season make. And that doesn’t mean that I hate what we’ve gotten. Ive enjoyed it for the most part but its been a very slow crawl to the finale. There’s really no thread that ties these episodes together. I feel like fandom has found things to dissect each week, but to the casual viewer I’m sure these episodes are just…alright.
I want more Maddie in general. More Chim! Haven’t gotten a lot of him outside of work. I want more Hen and Chim! They are best friends! And speaking of besties, I definitely would like more Buck and Eddie. Yea I ship them but in canon they are best friends! Best friends hang out outside of work! I miss those dynamics outside of the firehouse.
Like you, I am hopeful! We still have 10 episodes left in the season so I’m hoping it picks up a bit in 6B. I need some high stakes emergencies! This is a show about first responders, more specifically a firehouse and they have fought what? One fire? two I guess if you count what we’ll get in 6x09😅
I know what this show is capable of (HELLO! SEASON 3!), so I think its ok to be a bit disappointed when its not living up to their own previously set standards. And again, just cause I think this season is a little slow doesn’t mean I’m not having fun! It just means I know I could be having more fun(again. SEASON 3! 10 10 10’S ACROSS THE BOARD)

I won't deny that Buddie is one of my favourite relationships (even just platonically, shipping aside, their relationship with each other and with Chris is so beautifully written), but I'm also really happy to get more firefam interactions, especially in combos we haven't really seen much of in previous seasons.
I think honestly the one that got me the most, is Eddie's interaction with Bathena in 6.07(iirc), where he's telling them about the con artist who scammed his Abuela and why he's so sceptical of the paranormal. Like we have SO MANY of those scenes with Buck in Eddie's place, turning to Bobby and Athena, so the fact that Eddie did the same is kind of heart-meltingly precious imho.
Truthfully I do have sort of mixed feelings about the way Buddie exists so far this season (although I think a lot of that is cynicism borne from spending way too long in fandoms that have done the same thing with their borderline co-dependent m/m "best friends" trope) but I'm not going to say we shouldn't be getting other firefam stuff. I mean the show is about the team, not just about Buddie.
(Sorry for the super long message, love your blog, I have a lot of feelings about this show whoops)
omg no please do not apologise for this message!! you have pretty much described exactly how i feel too!!!
my favourite thing about this show is the found family of it all, it's the reason why i started watching (911 would occasionally pop onto my dash and then i got curious and nosed around a few vids on youtube and the one that got me properly watching was eddie's introduction scene but the part where the squad r chatting about the hot firefighter calendar). i also love above everything that the found family feels earned--like that's kinda my gripe about lone star, is that i think they saw the positive audience reaction to the found family in 911 and tried to replicate it with an immediate bond between the team, but what makes it so meaningful (at least in my opinion) on 911 is that you see the progression of it and how hard they work to get there. like even just look at hen/bobby's progression through the seasons!!! hen telling athena in s1 that she's still not sure about bobby as a captain to a couple of episodes ago where bobby told her "i love you" like!!! i want to weep!!!
(and the point you brought up about eddie going to bobby and athena's -- exactly!!!!! exactly!!!!!!!!!! @djdangerlove has a beautiful post about this season being eddie's re-immersion into the 118 and the reaffirmation of his place in its family that pretty much perfectly sums up my feelings)
and of course i'm as big a buddie slut as the next gal, and of course i would be more than happy with a 45-min episode of just them making dinner. i'd also be lying if i said i don't understand the disappointment of some buddie shippers when an episode goes by and the buddie interaction is like 1 glance and that's it. of course i get it! ive written over 100k+ of them falling in love of various ways. but i think it discredits the richness and complexity and warmth of the show to dismiss every other scene. it's an ensemble show about a diverse group of people from different backgrounds who are all striving to be good.
you're allowed to be disappointed about the lack of buddie scenes and also love every hen or carla or bathena or madney scene we get in its place. it's not mutually exclusive! and if you can't separate that then maybe take a step back from the show, and if you figure out you are ultimately only interested in buddie then there is plenty of excellent fic out there to consume! watch the season in 1 go once it's finished airing and skip every other scene! but don't make yourself unhappy by live-watching something you don't enjoy and certainly certainly certainly don't make others unhappy by dampening on their joy.
anyway sorry thats my rant over sgfhdhfh

Purple watches 911 s5A (because I've only watched 5B live)

what I'm telling you is that the first Madney scene is so Buddie coded and I'm not even mad at myself for making it about Buddie (I'm kidding I'm writing this and doubting myself every turn)
Eddie looks so pretty OH MY GOD
It's like our greatest hits... But like, the tsunami for Buck, the mudslide for Eddie, why is Bobby's an earthquake?
Okay, but the woman trying to follow a broken GPS (broken directions, broken guidance) just to end up drowning, like... parallels...
May YOU ARE SO PRETTY
Okay: the woman was drowning - "the pressure [...] outside is greater than the pressure inside" - she had to sink for the pressure to equalize - she had to take away anything that could weight her down (the seatbelt, the shoes, both used to protect something) - she had to take a big breath of air before the water covered her - Eddie and Buck helped her (Buck by opening the door and Eddie by physically dragging her out of the car) = this is such a beautiful way of foreshadowing Eddie's arc, mainly the last part about Buck opening the door (Kicking down the door) and Eddie himself pulling [her] out of the danger
Ravi my most beloved <3
Oh my gosh I can't believe I'm subjecting myself to another 18 episodes of B*T, the things I do for love.....
Karen you are so smart how can you be this amazing
Texas and Michigan... but Jonah was a firefighter for the LAFD for 14 months before he was found out, and the ransomware attacks started two weeks before that (AT LEAST the ones involving GoGo Anywhere...), so there it goes my Jonah is the hacker and that's how he's getting out of prison theory :/
Seeing Jeffrey's face makes me wanna puke omg
CHRISTOPHER MY LOVE MY LIFE THE REASON I AM BREATHING
(also Eddie really looks so hot in that suit)
(also Ana... And all the implying about E*A having sex...)
Eddie really saw what the future held for him if he kept seeing Ana and said "nope, peace out" huh
Hey! Heart theme number 1!
I LOVE HARRY SO MUCH UGH
I don't remember who said that the guy that had a heart attack in the flight control center looked like Buck, with the curls and the white shirt, but I wish to both kick you in the butt for making me SEE IT and kiss you in the mouth for MAKING me SEE it
Hey! Heart theme number 2!
Okay, so: as a list of places where there was a hacker attack we have Atlanta, Georgia - Baltimore, Maryland - Boston, Massachussets - Texas - Michigan - Los Angeles, California
How can they be sure it is from overseas?
The way Eddie looks at Buck after Dr. Salazar calls him, also the face he makes because he KNOWS Buck's gonna be a mother hen about it kanjnijakjnke they are MARRIED, your honor
This hospital is so lucky to have Thee 118 with them.
These Jeffrey fans are soooo creepy, they look like they came right out of a horror movie
Oh my god the relief Athena felt just to know it is for nothing...
And that't it for today, if you want to follow my watch of 5A, I'll use the tag #purple watches 911 s5 (sooo creative, I know)
