A collection of new trailers for the upcoming Winter TV anime “Darwin’s Game” has been released earlier this week.

The new series is scheduled to begin January 3rd. The first episode will have a special one-hour broadcast.

Darwin’s Game - Review

I most say, I was excited about a survival game anime, ever since I watched Mirai Nikki, this genre became something. But no everything is as great as MN.

Darwin’s Game! The story goes around Kaname Sudou a high school student who got and invitation from his classmate to play a mobile game called ‘Darwin’s Game’, turns is a battle game but a sadistic real life one. Everyone who plays gets a ‘Sigil’ an special ability that will help them throughout the game, and they are also able to get close to other players and create ‘clans’ to get a better survival rate.

The plot itself is really simple, Kaname a normal high school student, full of frustration with a game he doesn’t want to play, and he gets to know people that will follow his final goal, stop Darwin’s Game. Since he’s the main character he is already more skillful than what you expect at first, plus his ability is to get any weapon he has seen before out of nowhere.

Other characters are nice what surprised me the most is how normal the majority is, normally in survival games characters are a bit or too much crazy, but I guess that’s always kind of attractive.

But in this anime things are a little different, characters are more mindful? You may say, specially with the ones that form part of his clan. Marino is kind of a crazy girl in love with Kaname, but with this really cool Sigil that controls wires. Then is Rein a lil girl who is an information broker who has in my opinion the coolest Sigil, and analogous to Laplace’s Demon. Maesaka who can see with his Sigil if people are saying the truth, and then we have Souta and Sui, a pair of twins stray share a body and control water and ice.

The animation is nice, character design is great but definitely some more than other. Battles are well animated you can really appreciate the Sigil of the players, and that’s probably the most important thing in an anime like this. Sound is okay, it wasn’t specially good to noticed it.

My final score: 7/10
