mairi cousland but as a legend long after her death, a cautionary tale, a scary story, do not betray the ones you love or the haunt of highever will come for you, some say the dark stain of vengeance was in her very blood, betrayal as a sword that stabs, a spirit that possesses those at the end of a traitor’s blade, imbues them with the power to bite back,

TOO LONG HAD IT been since hope threatened to shake darrius’ heart, and yet with mairi before him all restraint for it had since fled. whatever strength he had harbored abandoned him and he was sent to his knees, abandoning all care for appearances and WEPT openly.
his towering frame buckled, collapsing around the form of his sister as his arms embraced her. it felt like a dream. as if all of it had been a waking NIGHTMARE and she were the singular bright spot emerging from the ocean of BLOOD and darkness he had been drowning in. ❝ and i you. ❞ the words are choked from him, his throat still strained in disbelief. were it not for his near crushing grip upon her shoulders he would have believed her a trick of the FADE ; some spirit sent to TORMENT him into breaking.
Mairi Adia released out with a new gospel-rock single titled “You No Dey Fail”. This sound is a timely reminder of the constant and unchanging nature of our God, who is the same yesterday, today and forever. More so, this track was produced by Beat Monster to bless lives and uplift hearts.
Furthermore, Mairi Adia is a contemporary gospel artist and song writer from Delta state, Nigeria. Also, the…

❝ I’M YOUR BROTHER. ❞ he said it with a level of calm certainty; as if it were all that needed to be stated on the matter. to him it was the most natural thing in the world, never an ideal that needed doubt or second guessing. there wasn’t anything that mairi could possibly do that would ever make him question his loyalty to her or abandon her to any problem. even if there was, just like the possibility of ever leaving her behind, the thought would never even OCCUR to darrius. it would be as foreign to him as the BLIGHT was to all living things.
now more than ever the sentiment rang ever true. they were all they had left. he’d tear the BLACK CITY from the sky itself before he ever let mairi venture into the darkness alone, whatever pitch black nightmare that entailed; be it the blight or the hunger of revenge the likelihood only WOLVES could claim to know.
he reached out, his own hand enveloping hers almost twice over. the smell of rust ever hung in the air, now more familiar to him than the gardens back home. even now, hand in hand, the softness of affection was bore with ARMOR, and the blood that ran beneath it tainted and dark. ❝ no matter what happens that will never change. there’s an ocean of blood and fire before us; even if we drown, ❞ he raised their interlocked hands between them, squeezing her fingers between his own. ❝ i’ll still be here. ❞

❝ PLEASE, ❞ darrius started with half a scoff, half engrossed in the drink in his hand without yet casting his gaze to his sister. he’d have to look so far DOWNWARD, after all. ❝ if i have to be here so do you. ❞ admittedly he handled the hassle of such social occasions SLIGHTLY better than mairi, but at some point it became obvious that the youngins of the cousland litter had limited patience for such things.
despite his words and boasting, he looked towards her regardless and nudged her shoulder with one arm. ❝ in which way? ❞ no matter if her ailment was truthful or a RUSE to get out of playing nice with everyone that walked through the door, darrius was ready to come to her aid. ❝ you feel ill or someone here is causing your teeth to grate? ❞
there wasn’t a doubt in his mind that if someone were truly irritating to her, mairi could well hold her own. they were COUSLANDS, after all, and children of the SEA WOLF to boot. no one came into their house causing any kind of grief without leaving unscathed. but he was a brother ------ it was his DUTY to always throw the first punch if it came to it. and, well, were she simply suffering fatigue or an upset stomach, he made an EXCELLENT broth.
the silence that settled around them was deafening, the glare she cast like daggers. a scoff was expelled as hands reached restlessly to smooth out the wrinkles in her clothes, eventually moving upwards to make a mess of her hair, halfway undoing the style it was done up in.
❛ thanks, ❜ said stiffly, almost with a sense of hostility, ❛ don’t ever say that to me again. ❜ never did mairi look more uncomfortable & out of place than she did when there were guests coming to highever, events ——— the mere thought of having to wear formal attire seemed to drain the very life from her eyes; & she didn’t even bother to wear a skirt.
that glare returned, carried up to her brother’s face. ❛ i bet you’re just delighted about all of this ——— a feast, a big noise for the rest of the night. ❜ elbow protruded to jab him in the arm; just gentle enough to be barely light-hearted. ❛ i don’t see why we have to get so dolled up just to get drunk and sit around for hours. ❜

❝ ANYWHERE DELILAH ISN’T, ❞ darrius mumbled, black eyes darting across the tournament fields in wary watch for the OFFENDING PARTY. perhaps it was childish to hide from the woman and BULLY his only sister into assisting with the fastening on his armor so that he didn’t have to RISK running into her, but ------- ❝ she called me an arrogant cow, can you believe that ? A COW. ❞ the girl was damn insufferable. arrogant darrius was, indeed, and he had no qualms about admitting to this. but a cow? he was a bull, at the very least!
❝ i can’t believe SHE’S here but not nathaniel, ❞ after all, it was no fun winning every single competition presented before him and showing off if he couldn’t fluster nathaniel at the same time. didn’t help that their damn parents kept making JESTS about darrius and delilah making ‘such a good match.’ he knew they only did it because they couldn’t stand each other, and somehow that made it more irritating. which made the absence of nathaniel sting even more; half of the fun of toying with him was rubbing it in delilah’s face.
with a pout he rested his chin on his palm, the leather of his glove worn and dirty, making the sweat on his face itch. the irritation he felt would see him through the rest of the day and it’s challenges. ❝ cows are delightful. ❞ and now he was just complaining for the sake of complaints. ❝ goes to show how much she knows; who doesn’t love a cow? they’re delicious, surprisingly graceful ---- basically big dogs ----ow! damn, mairi, i asked you to TIGHTEN the pauldron not take my arm off! ❞

Known for our ongoing support of women’s writing the committee is proud to deliver these events with an all-women line-up, with our Gaelic Co-Ordinator, Marcas Mac an Tuairneir, in the chair. Each event will take place on Zoom - just click the far less cumbersome tinyurl.com/FWSGaelic - and will be broadcasted and archived for additional access on YouTube, meaning wherever you are, you can take part. Washington Pipe Band Plays For Sean Connery from Toby Dodd on Vimeo.
This video just came up on my Facebook feed this morning but I hadn’t seen it before. Even though Washington is misspelled, this is still a fantastic performance for Sean Connery in 1999.
Sean Connery was honored at the Kennedy Center for lifetime achievements. The music consists of the Washington Pipe Band, Alasdair…
mairi and mike had their first kiss together and it was so awkward that they literally didn’t speak to each other for a week after. kyle had to intercede eventually and say, “look, you know how i feel about mike. but this? this is somehow weirder than your friendship. i cannot STAND this energy. go make up, goddamn.”
