The making of the Maison Margiela Artisanal safety pin dress worn by Miley Cyrus to the Grammys 2024.
Designed for her by Creative Director, John Galliano, and constructed in the haute couture ateliers of the Maison, it took 675 hours of craftsmanship, using 14,000 safety pins.
An emotional show. One steeped in artistic reverence. Wonderful shapes and shadows stalked the wooden boards of the catwalk. Models leered. Drama. Movement. Dickensian; think the darkened alleys of Victorian London. Expressive pieces reminiscent of McQueen, and the quintessential aesthetic of the Galliano we've come to know.
The Maison Margiela 2024 Artisanal Collection paints a picture of the practices and occurrences that shape the character reflected within our dress.
The last look presented is reminiscent of a myth of a deity named Nana Buluku from West Africa See more here : https://mythlegendandfolktales.tumblr.com/

Although many would think the bottoms of the shoes being red would note a famed designer, it reminds me of an Entry by Diana Vreeland in her Book DV , where she describes the following:
In a time in New York during prohibition of Alcohol there were many places people would go that would offer Alcohol despite the heinous limitations placed. One night in New York Mr. and Mrs. Vreeland found themselves attending such a venue for a refreshment. As the night went on, an argument between patrons erupted inside the venue, causing both Diana and her husband to leave the location.
As they exited the venue, pools of blood flooded the streets and exit, so much so the white satin slippers she wore to the venue was dotted with it , and I believe even the soles.
