I will never be over Moff Gideon being like “I’ve perfected cloning so that I can make multiple Force-sensitive versions of myself” and Din just immediately blowing them up.
Din Djarin saw himself being pulled into the Sequel Trilogy plotline and was like “Absolutely not.” He peaced out away from Mandalore so fast afterwards. He wanted no part in that bullshit. Good for him.
GOOD FOR HIM.

I still can't get over din showing to grogu how the maps works on the ship and saying "our people needs to understand how maps work", and then din asking bo-katan how did he find him and she replied with "your kid". Like I know we have been three seasons already into this clan of two father-and-son found family show, but I still can't help but keep cooing at every single little demonstration of grogu and din being a family and everyone around it acknowledging it

Mandolorian Desmond AU?
When you think about it, there are really not that many changes that need to be made to make a Mandalorian Desmond AU because the Mandalorians have a lot of similarities with the Brotherhood.
Hell, they even have their own ‘Creed’.
So, for this setup, we’ll incorporate Desmond’s backstory to fit with Mandalorian culture.
In this scenario, Desmond is a Mandalorian instead of a Foundling. He would be the son of two Mandalorians with his father being the leader of their Clan, one of the most secretive Clans of Mandalorians and some even believe they were a myth.
To Desmond, he was simply living in a secret isolated compound known only as the Farm.
Just like all Mandalorians and Foundlings, he would start his training as a child but it would be harsh and brutal for him. He would grow up being unable to satisfy his father and his mother spends most of her time off-world as a bounty hunter.
Things become much harder for him when his mother returned with a Foundling named Lucy. She joined their training and it became clear that she had the skills to thrive in their training. The other children begin to whisper that, given enough time, she would be able to dethrone Desmond from the top spot of their ‘class’.
Isolated by the rank of his father and his own single-mindedness to please him, none of the children tried to console him nor say that it was bullshit since, by the time she could reach Desmond, Desmond would have gotten better as well.
Instead, the whispering and his father’s silence broke Desmond and he… just stopped trying.
He did the bare minimum and no amount of his father’s ‘pushing’ worked until…
Finally, Lucy did surpass him and they all ‘graduated’.
Desmond left the Farm and became a bounty hunter like his mother, taking odd jobs here and there. He pretty much cut off any relationship he had with the Farm but he does answer when they call. They rarely ever call though. The most contact he has with the Farm were his mother who showed him the basics and gave him some tips on bounty hunting before leaving him alone but, at that point, he saw her more as a teacher than an actual parent so he simply ignored the aching of his chest, and Lucy who liked to leave him messages about what she’s doing. He doesn’t understand why Lucy was sending him these messages and never bothered sending a message back although he does read them.
It’s fine. He knows Lucy didn’t think he would answer anyway.
Everybody in their Clan knows…
He was alone.
Whatever plot you’d like to have can be pushed by making Lucy send a message that catches Desmond’s attention. If you want Desmond to interact with Din Djarin, the setup could be that Lucy is in a spot of bother after allying herself with Din Djarin in a quest gone wrong.
Unorganized Notes:
Their Clan is part of a bigger Family and Desmond would find out from the other Mandalorians that their Family is one of the most secretive Families out there with one of the Clans having ties to the first ruler of the Mandalorians. Desmond calls bullshit on that 'connection' though.
Their Clan is also ostracized by a lot of other Clans because of how they trained their young. Their Family is also not that well-liked because they tend to… be less honorable than usual, having no qualms with dirtying their hands to get the job done. Desmond would later find out that, even by Mandalorian standards, he’s actually better than most of them due to his training. This only ends up making him feel even more isolated.
To further incorporate AC Lore, the Mandalorians are what the Brotherhood had evolved to but, because of how long it has been, it’s not the same Brotherhood anymore. Only hints of its origin remain in Mandalorian culture with even the Creed having evolved into something else. On the other hand, Desmond’s Family is the closest to the Brotherhood’s successor even if they have been heavily influenced by Mandalorian culture and tradition.
If you wish to include other non-modern Assassin’s Creed characters (like Altaïr, Ezio, and Ratonhnhaké:ton), they can all be part of the same Family as Desmond but as part of one of the other Clans.
For more twists and turns, this could be the setup where Desmond Miles let the world burn and the survivors used Isu tech to travel to another planet to start anew. This planet would later be called Mandalore and Desmond Miles is actually the first ruler of the Mandalorians, his real name having been lost in the passage of time. Our Mandalorian Desmond could be a reincarnation of Desmond Miles or we can totally HZD this and be an actual clone of Desmond Miles, taken from some kind of DNA sample (perhaps called Sample 17???), and his father’s disappointment in him is because he simply cannot match up to the legend of Desmond Miles.

just finished watching the episode, and i'm curious about where they're going the whole "bo-katan accidentally joining the covert" thing? because while i never really bought into the whole "it's a cult" thing, surely it's not going to be as simple as "din was right and bo was wrong and now she needs to learn how to be a good mandalorian again", especially considering we're only at episode 3?
idk, it could be where they're going, and if this season is going to be about bo-katan finding peace with her past and finding a new family within the covert, then i'll be fine with that, but i honestly did think that their respective arcs would be about learning from eachother, rather than it just being a one-way street

the thing is, I didn't necessarily want Din Djarin to be Mand'alor. what I've wanted since season one is for him to be acknowledged as not only the titular but also the quintessential Mandalorian, the Most Mando Mando That Ever Mando'd based on martial prowess and adherence to the Creed, despite (as was pointed out yet again in this latest episode) the fact that he is not Mandalorian by blood and is continually surrounded by people who value that shit for some reason.
because recognizing that in the narrative puts Mandalorians' money where their mouth is when it comes to the importance of foundlings and "it's not a race, it's a creed," and makes those tenets not just Children of the Watch things (as far as we the viewer know) but Mandalorian things.
and if that recognition and elimination of all doubt in the matter involved Din Djarin keeping the Darksaber and becoming Mand'alor, cool, but I didn't think it was actually necessary to make the Point, you know?
but the thing about how they got rid of the Darksaber in this episode is that it actually sent the message that blood is literally everything. Bo-Katan Kryze ~walking both worlds~ and getting the Darksaber... pretty concretely makes her the Most Mando Mando That Ever Mando'd. remarkable feat for someone who showed up partway through the second season of a show called The Mandalorian

Um.
I dunno what that was all about but all I could think was “what happened to ‘where he goes, I go’? You really just gonna leave Grogu with Space Lizzo?”
But I mean. I would leave my baby with Space Lizzo. Guess Space Lizzo is an exception to Din’s rule. Because Lizzo. In space. Space Lizzo.
I LITERALLY SAID, “THE FUCK?” WHEN SHE SHOWED UP. I mean, Jack Black? I expect this out of him. But Lizzo? At least they gave her a cool ass holo train like the queen she is.
I do not even know where to start with this one, y’all. That was some straight up Space CSI. How was Chris Lloyd’s ass gonna benefit from rogue droids? Whatever it was, he would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those darn Mandalorians.
And then hard pivot from bubblegum buddy cops to brutal playground fight at the end.
There’s a part of me that just wants Din to help Bo take Mandalore and then when she asks how she can repay him, he just asks for a Crest and a pulse rifle and goes back to doing his thing with his boy at his side.

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 1): Legends Match 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ferrus Olin| Identity: gay | Media: Jedi Quest/Last of the Jedi
Ferrus Olin was created by Jude Watson for the Jedi Quest series of junior novels. He was the apprentice of Siri Tachi, and a rival of Anakin Skywalker. The two padawans often had to work together due to their masters often collaborating on missions. He left the Jedi Order right before the Clone Wars. As the protagonist of the 2005-2008 junior novel series Last of the Jedi, he started a business with Roan Lands, which eventually led to them founding the rebel organization The Eleven. This organization was destroyed by the Empire, leading to Ferrus and Roan teaming up  with Obi-Wan Kenobi to set the early foundations for the Rebel Alliance. Vader eventually destroyed his rebel cell, killing Roan. Ferrus spent the rest of his life secretly watching over Leia on Alderaan, until he was killed by Vader in 0ABY.
Due to the times, his relationship with Roan could only be heavily implied, but Jude Watson has stated that she wrote them as a married couple. This makes him and Roan one of the earliest queer characters in Star Wars.
(Apologies for any errors in the summary, this is one of the few characters in this poll I have no personal experience with.)
Goran Beviin | Identity: mlm | Media: Boba Fett: A Practical Man/Legacy of the Force
The infamous Karen Travis wrote one of the first gay male characters in Star Wars? Surprisingly, yes.
Goran Beviin was a Mandalorian Protector who was originally hired by the Yuuzhan Vong to assist in their invasion of the galaxy, but the Protectors eventually turned against the Yuuzhan Vong and fought against them in the ensuing war. He and his husband Medri Vasur adopted the 14 year old war orphan and Mandalorian Supercommando Dinue Jeban. He was one of Boba Fett’s most trusted lieutenants and even served as interim Mand’alor for a time. After the war, he settled down on a farm on Mandalore with his husband and daughter.
Vasur was described as Beviin’s partner in the 2008 novel Legacy of the Force: Revelations. Karen Traviss clarified that they were supposed to be married, which was included in the December 2008 The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.
(Apologies for any errors in the summary, this is one of the few characters in this poll I have no personal experience with.)

Din: I need to go to Mandalore. Bo Katan?
Bo Katan: Just go and show darksaber to others, they will do whatever you want.
Din, waving darksaber right in front of her: Then do it now.
