Came across this article while looking for more information on Tom Burke's character in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

Tom Burke Replaces Yahya Abdul-Mateen II In George Miller’s ‘Mad Max’ Spinoff ‘Furiosa’
The film marks the first major studio film for Burke, who played Orson Welles in Netflix’s Mank and has credits including The Souvenir and the upcoming pic The Wonder starring Florence Pugh.

The movie looks great but with all that hair, beards, and masks everywhere, I could hardly recognise Chris Hemsworth in the trailer, let alone Tom Burke. 😆
[As for more information on his character, there was none: zero, zip, zilch, nada. Guess we'll have a wait a bit longer to find out more.]

Someone on twitter comented that the trailer gave them motion sickness because of the crazy camera and Vivz defenders™ are saying "omg shut up it looks fine stop complaining 🙄", no it doesnt, the camera shaking like crazy every time a character takes a step is NIT GOOD at all, it not even a matter of opinion, its fucking common sense that camera movents shouldnt be overuse where they make people dizzy.
Even worse if it causes motion sickness, its not cute and funny nor dinamic, its unprofecional, it doesnt work, and it should be fixed inmediately.
Also theyre saying that they were "manking up stuff"... tf are you talking about? What are they "making up"? The shit camera work? Its right there, oppen your goddamn eyes.
I swear, Vivzie could just shit on a plate, make a video of it and then uploud it saying its Hazbin Hotel's first episode, and fans will say that people are mean haters for not thinking she is an artistic genious for that.
Care about the health and general well-being of other human lives? Not Vivzie's fandom!

matea hiii!! <3 did you see the trailer for the killer, what do you think
hiiiii !!! <3333 i have seen it and it's just so fincher. i mean the colour grading alone... i would recognize that man and his jaundiced colour palette anywhere. i liked mank, i thought i wouldn't, but it was good, BUT i'm excited to go back to the old fincher territory that is murder. the premise alone and like those few lines we hear from the trailer are so cold and invulnerable and he's great at coldness. i also think he's someone who is so good at depicting research and the inner workings of machinery, that sort of dissection rather than some emotional/psychological dissection, so i'm excited for all the extreme close-ups and montages. it's bc we're earth signs lmao. if he disappoints me i'm gonna flay myself. also the music from the trailer? trent and atticus ate, as per usual. it's premiering in venice in a few days so we'll see the first reactions...

'The new Netflix limited series Ripley is entirely in black and white for very deliberate reasons. The psychological thriller is based on the renowned 1955 novel The Talented Mr. Ripley by celebrated novelist Patricia Highsmith, the first of her 5-part "Ripley" series that also includes Ripley Under Ground and Ripley's Game. Ripley's cast is led by an exceptionally chilling Andrew Scott (Fleabag, Black Mirror, All of Us Strangers) as the enigmatic Thomas Ripley, a con artist living in New York in the early 1960s. Steven Zallian, the acclaimed screenwriter of Schindler's List, American Gangster, and The Irishman, wrote and directed the entire 8-episode miniseries.
Ripley is given an unexpected job to locate an old friend named Richard 'Dickie' Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn) who's avoiding his responsibilities in Atrani, a luxurious coastal city in Italy. Ripley, funded by Dickie's father, travels to Atrani where he encounters Dickie and his girlfriend Marge Sherwood, played by Dakota Fanning. The Talented Mr. Ripley was previously adapted in the 1999 film written and directed by Anthony Minghella (The English Patient), in which Matt Damon portrayed Ripley, Jude Law played Dickie and Gwenyth Paltrow plays Marge. The Talented Mr. Ripley has been adapted several times for film and television, but none have been shot completely in monochrome until Zallian's Ripley.
Ripley's Show Creator Envisioned The Story In Black & White Due To The Book's Cover Photo
Zallian's goal was to create an incredibly faithful adaptation of the novel
Zallian was inspired to shoot his Ripley adaptation entirely in black and white as a way to honor the original vision of Highsmith's novel. As he was developing the series, he was inspired by the monochrome book cover of his edition of The Talented Mr. Ripley and began to envision the series entirely through that lens as he wrote it. Zallian told Vanity Fair, “The edition of the Ripley book I had on my desk had an evocative black-and-white photograph on the cover. As I was writing, I held that image in my mind. Black and white fits this story—and it’s gorgeous.”
Zallian's main intention of the monochrome in Ripley is to provide a more faithful interpretation of the novel. Unlike some of the previous iterations of Highsmith's "Ripley" series, Zallian's adaptation appears more dark and unsettling from the Ripley trailer alone. The decision to shoot entirely in black and white is also a nod to the time period in which Ripley is set, amplifying the fact that the story takes place more than 60 years ago. David Fincher made a similar stylistic choice with his 2020 Netflix film Mank. Aside from his Academy Award-winning work on There Will Be Blood, Ripley's Director of Photography, Robert Elswit, previously shot the celebrated monochrome film Good Night, and Good Luck.
Ripley's Black & White Format Fits The Story's Dark Themes & Genre
The gray of the ocean & pitch blackness of blood are perfect for Ripley
The black-and-white aesthetic of Zallian's Ripley aligns seamlessly with the overall tone and themes of the story. The Netflix adaptation appears to be substantially darker and more matter-of-fact in its design than previous Ripley adaptations, particularly the 1999 adaptation with a more charismatic performance from Damon. The monochrome also emphasizes the film noir feel of the production, drawing similarities to classics of the genre such as The Maltese Falcon (1941), Double Indemnity (1944), and Strangers on a Train (1951), which was also based on a novel by Highsmith.
From the use of black and white in the trailer alone, Ripley often blends into the world around him, heightening the mystery around his character's ability to dissolve into environments with ease. The range of various shades of gray in Ripley creates an interesting composition thanks to the advancement of modern digital cameras that are able to capture more detail in degrees of light and darkness. The gray of the ocean and the pitch blackness of blood make for a more ominous and impactful visual display in Ripley. Most series don't have an organic reason for filming in black and white, but Ripley is exactly the kind of production that makes the best use of modern monochrome.
Netflix's Ripley Being In Black & White Highlights Its Major Differences From The 1999 Movie
Netflix's Ripley is a much darker psychological drama compared to the Damon film
The use of black and white throughout the entire 8-part series creates a stark contrast between Netflix's Ripley and the classic 1999 movie. The movie puts a lot of emphasis on the vivid color and lavishness of coastal Italy and Dickie's life, which is a major difference between the 1999 film and Highsmith's novel. Additionally, the 1999 film's interpretation of one particular death seems to be more out of pure desperation and passion than something premeditated, which avoids a more sinister theme of the book. Ripley makes scenes of this nature more dreary and emotionally devoid, making it more of an eerie psychological drama.'

okay, possibly a hard q to answer, but I am so interested to know what trailers you think are either the best, or at least, your favorites?? I used to be so jealous of movie theater employees because I just wanted to sit and watch the trailers before movies all day! could care less about most movies, but trailers are an art (if done well!!)
yessss thank u!!! i used to get so mad when we were late for movies because it meant I missed the trailers, when I was a kid no joke I used to cryyyy if I missed trailers, but yes 100% agree seeing trailers at the movies is often the best part!!
okay so i’ll do a mix here - trailers I love/ don’t love
A trailer I am OBSESSED with atm: The Crown S4 teaser
youtube
this trailer is edited with the tone of a HORROR film and I LOVE IT, the menace created by the rhythm of the ticking clock followed by the tapping of the cane, contrasted with the monologue of marriage, fairytales, overlaying the cuts of ramnce etc. it creates a sense of foreboding, playing directly into the fact that the audience knows what will become of princess diana, rather than treating the audience like idiots who are receiving new info. between these shots of Charles and diana we also glimpse Thatcher, the Queen; the trailer creates the impression of a web of events connected like train cars about to crash, knowing u know it will crash, but not the extent of the damage. It’s honestly a brilliant piece of editing. i don’t care for the show or the royals, but I could watch this all day.
A trailer I am forever impressed with: Pacific Rim
youtube
First of all, NO ONE does score like Iranian legend, Ramin Djwadi so immediately this trailer had that going for it but THAT’S NOT THE BEST PART. This trailer was essentially using exposition to INVITE you into the story world and understand the premise, before it teases u with that EPIC “cancelling the apocalypse” line, and in hindsight, we know that the narration in this trailer is actually just the first five minutes of the film. Nothing is spoiled, you’re not given so much info u feel like u saw the movie, but you’re given the perfect amount to UNDERSTAND and be curious as to what the story is within this world. By holding off on focusing on characters, and focusing on selling the WORLD, this trailer nailed it!!! because no hoe is gonna give a shit about the Yaeger pilots if they don’t have an idea what they are. the trailer does tease u with the cancelling the apocalypse line so u know there are some interesting strong characters here too, but primarily everything in this trailer was geared towards getting you to be excited for the WORLD by understanding it and hyping it with all those incredible action shots. its great and the tone is both somber and rock n roll. It makes you FEEL powerful and curious and excited! love it!!
A trailer I DESPISE: Mank
youtube
The trailers for Mank are awful. If by the third trailer of your film, I’m still having to google to figure what the FUCK its about. you’ve done bad, son. I get that this is a passion project for Fincher, based on a script his dad wrote that will ultimately please the Oscar overlords because it's about old Hollywood, but that isn’t an excuse to leave your audience in the dust when u make trailers. The trailer doesn't even utilise Fincher’s passion for this project as a point of appeal, which is poor because even if I am not sure about a film I am more likely to see it if I know its a huge deal for the director. Firstly, this trailer is long, almost 3 minutes and does little in that time to engage the audience with a premise which is BAD because when it shows u the conflicts they mean nothing. Mank is a biopic about the dude who wrote the screenplay for Citizen Kane, set during the period he wrote it. Nowhere in the trailer does it expressly signal this to the audience which is bad because its the prime reason we would be engaged. All it does is try to imitate techniques from citizen Kane which is just confusing when we as an audience do not know why its doing so. Its just using a lot of old Hollywood, techniques and aesthetics which is cool but ultimately doesn't signal why u should give a shit. its clearly a trailer made for the industry, not audiences who might be interested, and that’s simply useless. All biopic trailers should take notes from the trailers for Blackkklansman, Colette, and Rocketman.
A TRAILER I HATED FOR A MOVIE I LOVE: Thor Ragnarok
youtube
I truly despised how lazy this trailer was. It gave away so much of the plot and characters, it was like they had so little faith that Taika would deliver a banger that marvel shoved everything they could into the trailer. It gives away so many jokes, character reveals, and even includes scenes from the end and CLIMAX of the movie. Its the perfect example of a trailer that shows way too much!! even though the editing and tone establishing are fun, after i actually saw this movie i felt like i’d already seen it from the trailers which is NOT what a trailer is meant to make u feel. A trailer is meant to make u want to see a movie, not make u feel like you’ve seen the movie. Like, IMAGINE. just imagine if they had taken care to not reveal hulk in any promotional material and then you sat in the cinema and saw it for the first time??? WOULDA BEEN AMAZING. i know it didn’t hurt the film’s success, but i still think the trailer should have been a little more intentional.
Anyways, thank you for asking this!! I have so many more I could write about but I am hungry ksjadkadb I really do believe the best trailers are ones that make u feel very strongly whether that's excited, sad, apprehensive, etc, but they should never make u feel confused. I really miss seeing trailers in cinemas so much. wishing i’d done my childhood dream of buying a cinema so i could sit and watch trailers all day. x
