“We ask that, as President of the United States, you call for an immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost,” it reads. “More than 5,000 people have been killed in the last week and a half – a number any person of conscience knows is catastrophic. We believe all life is sacred, no matter faith or ethnicity and we condemn the killing of Palestinian and Israeli civilians.”

"Beyond our pain and mourning for all of the people there and their loved ones around the world we are motivated by an unbending will to stand for our common humanity,” it concluded. “We stand for freedom, justice, dignity and peace for all people – and a deep desire to stop more bloodshed. We refuse to tell future generations the story of our silence, that we stood by and did nothing.”

You have to stand tall in your life for the people that really kind of need to see it. And also, it’s like when you live a long time, you see how fair life really is. […] The ugly become beautiful and the beautiful become ugly. The people you think had everything actually have nothing.

And it’s so profound, the equalization of age. How when we actually are here to stay for it. And that why I think presenting ourself really honestly is really important for young people. There’s so many problems and sad situations where you have young queer people commit suicide. And I wanna impress upon them: “You gotta live.” It’s really good. Because you see all the people who bullied you, they will get so unhappy.

ok but the way bertie’s relationship with her mother is so complex and layered, the way there will always be that feeling of trauma and betrayal there from her childhood, the way they are so different and sometimes unsure around each other, the way fledging day is difficult in different ways for the both of them but they still make time to go through the motions together, the way they each just want to be accepted by the other, the way they don’t really know how to love each other, the way they are finally learning to see each other outside of their roles as mother and daughter, the way they do love each other in their own ways and with actions more than words
