A List of Non-Redeemed Villains:2010–Present

I've been seeing those "let villains be villains" posts all across the board. My list is aimed at the people who think irredeemable villains have gone extinct, even though that's never been the case.

We've still gotten lots of fantastic utter bastards! And the less monstrous villains aren't any less impressive than the former!

• Bold text and demon face😈: Fully evil villains. These guys will sink however low they must in order to achieve their evil goals.

• Italicized text and⚫: Villains who are mostly terrible people, but not bad-to-the-bone material. They...

– Possess fewer (some barely) redeemable qualities than the third category

– If they have tragic backstory, it isn't focused upon that much, if at all.

– Aren't heinous enough to be fully evil villains.

– Generally remain unredeemed.

– Stayed villains to the very end.

• Normal text and🔴: Villains who have...

– More complex motivations than the previous two categories.

– A good amount of redeemable qualities

– Traumatic or tragic backstories that are addressed more in-depth by the story.

– The capacity to redeem themselves, but didn’t.

– And other reasons that disqualify them from complete villainhood — but they remain/remained villains to the very end.

• Older media will show up on this list if new bad guys were introduced in 2010 and beyond. Pre-2010 characters will not.

So I’ve recently binged the Dead Rising series, and I love all of it except one thing: (under cut bc spoilers)

The whole twist at the end of Dead Rising 3 about Isabela Keyes being the one that really started it just feels half-assed.

Don’t get me wrong. I think the twist could have been good, and the motivation of wanting to replace the legacy of being painted as a terrorist with being the misunderstood woman fixing her brother’s mistakes makes perfect sense. My problem is that this revelation doesn’t really... matter in the overall picture.

You could take out Isabela starting the outbreak and the story would still make perfect sense. The military/Phenotrans start the outbreak to find this weapon and harvest more Queens, and Isabela discovers there’s an immune among the survivors that could help to create a cure. Yea, still have her care more about finding the overall cure than saving individual people, but it’s a stance that makes sense, sacrifice the few for the sake of the many, just not on such a giant-ass scale and with good rather than malicious intent.

There’s also two other things that don’t make sense about this:

1) Phenotrans apparently already has a cure, because Marian Mallon was bitten but cured herself. So what’s with Isabela apparently being friends with Marian but still needs to find a different cure?

2) How does Isabela know that one of the kids is immune and which one it is? She didn’t even seem to know for sure that the 50 kids were infected in Dead Rising 1. Did she find her brother’s notes and shit and then immediately plan the outbreak? At the very least, she seems to have found it between DR2 and 3, since it seems very doubtful that she knew of it in Case West.

3) Whenever she found this out, why was her solution to start another outbreak? She obviously didn’t mind Marian knowing since they were openly talking about it on video, and she seems to have known exactly which kid it was since she didn’t need that weird machine like Marian did. (And apparently Isabela told her about the immune kid but didn’t tell her exactly who it was)

Like... If Isabela wanted to take the credit herself, and entirely herself, why tell Marian at all? There doesn’t seem to be any hint she was forced to admit it, they were just arguing on whether to actually create the outbreak. I understand that she might have needed their help to cause the outbreak, because they had to disable the Zombrex chips (which were a whole other plot thing that I’ll get into later, but in short I feel it was underutilized) but overall, it just felt very strange. There were ways they could have done this other than causing another outbreak, such as just plain tracking where the kids ended up. Marian very obviously knew about Diego, and tracking Nick probably wouldn’t have been that hard, especially since Diego knew about Nick and his own tattoo, even if Diego didn’t specifically know about the incident.

I dunno. I just feel like in the end, it was a twist thrown in for a last-second gotcha moment, especially since it really doesn’t change anything in the games. I thought it might come into play in Dead Rising 4, but no, it really doesn’t.

So auch am 12. März, wenn die Wandelhalle in Bad Wildungen Schauplatz des Irish Spring Festival wird. Mittlerweile „jour fixe“ für unzählige Irish Folk-Fans, hat sich das Festival mit seinem Anspruch, hohes Niveau mit bester Unterhaltung zu verbinden, konsequent in die Herzen der Zuschauer und Zuschauerinnen gespielt. Geboten wird ein Strauß bunter musikalischer Frühlingsboten zwischen Tradition und Moderne, zwischen Melancholie und überbordender tanzender Lebenslust.

Connla, mittlerweile weltweit unterwegs, fasziniert mit modernem Folk-Sound auf akustischen Instrumenten wie irischem Dudelsack, keltischer Harfe, Trommel, Flöten und intensivem Gesang. Dritter im Bunde ist Akkordeon-Kraftwerk David Munnelly mit seinem Trio aus dem westirischen County Mayo mit tanzbaren Jigs, Reels und Hornpipes, sowie der magischen Stimme von Anne Brennan. Immer wieder bieten perkussive Steptanz-Einlagen der Tänzerin Aneta Dortová visuelle Highlights und zum Schluss hält es beim großen Finale mit allen Künstlern kaum jemanden mehr auf den Sitzen. Niall Hanna In einer irischen Folk Session wird es ganz still, wenn nach wilden Jigs und Reels ein Sänger eine Ballade anstimmt und nur noch die Emotion der Stimme dominiert. Sänger und Gitarrist Niall Hanna aus dem nordirischen County Tyrone kommt aus einer Sängerfamilie und ist irischer Meister im traditionellen Gesang. Wenn er die Stimme erhebt hört man die berühmte Stecknadel fallen. Wie oft typisch in Irland lernte er die Musik von Kindesbeinen an durch Zuhören und Mitmachen, Comhaltas- und Armagh Piper's Club-Ausbildungen folgten. Für Irish Spring gesellt sich der nordirische Multi-Instrumentalist und Sänger Stephen Loughran zu ihm, ein bekannter und beliebter Künstler der Belfaster Musikszene. David Munnelly Trio feat. Anne Brennan Für das Irish Spring Jubiläumsprogramm ist dieses All Star Team in jedem Fall angemessen. Munnelly, das Akkordeon-Kraftwerk aus Mayo, ist einer der bedeutendsten Akkordeonspieler seiner Generation und spielte mit Legenden wie De Dannan und den Chieftains. Wenn er loslegt, geraten Melodie, Drive und Rhythmus irischer Jigs, Reels oder Hornpipes ungefiltert und direkt ins Blut der Zuschauer. Seine eigenen Stücke schauen weit über den traditionellen Tellerrand hinaus und zeigen ein musikalisches Genie. Munnelly wird von Gitarrist und „Master of Rhythm“ Shane McGowan begleitet. Ihm ist nichts fremd zwischen Folk, Rock und Jazz, seit er mit fünf Jahren zum ersten Mal vor Publikum auftrat. Shane kommt aus dem rauen Sligo, wo die wilde Seite des Irish Folk noch an jeder Ecke präsent ist und dennoch die Ohren offen für neue musikalische Abenteuer sind. Als dritter Solist brilliert das "Supertalent" Joseph McNulty aus Sligo an der Geige: Ein junger Vollblut-Musiker, der tief eingetaucht ist in die alte irische Kultur und Sprache, die er fließend spricht. Sein kraftvolles Spiel brachte ihm bereits unzählige Meisterschaftstitel ein. Sängerin Anne Brennan sog die Klänge ihrer musikbegeisterten Heimat Connemara von Kind an auf. Paul Brady, Declan O’Rourke oder Johnny McEvoy, die Liste der Künstler die Anne als Sängerin auf die Bühne holten ist mittlerweile lang und hochkarätig. Mit Sharon Shannon war sie auf der CD „Live at Dolans“ 11 Wochen Nummer 1 in Irland und landesweit auf Tour. Mittlerweile wird ihre Musik über TV bis in die USA vertrieben und die großen Kollegen reißen sich darum, mit ihr im Duett zu singen. Connla Vor einigen Jahren waren sie eine überraschende Entdeckung des Irish Spring Festivals. Nun kehren sie als gefeierte Stars des zeitgenössischen Irish/Celtic Folk zurück. Ihr Terminkalender ist atemberaubend, ihre Tourneen führen nicht nur durch Länder sonder über Kontinente. Connla aus Armagh und Derry in Nordirland gelten als eine der aufregendsten neuen Bands im Irish Folk Crossover. Sie sind kreative und mutige Abenteurer auf dem Weg in die Zukunft des Irish Folk, den sie auf ihrem eigenen Weg durch die Musikstile der Welt nie aus den Augen verlieren. Die Arrangements alter und neuer Titel sowie ihre frischen Eigenkompositionen sind gleichzeitig voll junger Energie und klingen doch nach langer Erfahrung. Schon die Besetzung ist anspruchsvoll: die fragile Keltische Harfe von Emer Mallon paart sich elegant mit dem wuchtigen Sound des irischen Dudelsacks ihres Bruders Conor. Die akustische Gitarre von Paul Starrett überwindet die enge Akkordbegleitung mit komplexen innovativen Strukturen, auf denen sich Ciaran Carlins Flöten schwirrend und frühlingshaft leicht entfalten. Sozusagen als Sahnehäubchen ziert Sängerin Ciara McCafferty mit ihrem leicht rockig-intensiven Timbre den Sound von Connla. Aneta Dortová In Galway kann man sie manchmal noch auf der Straße tanzen sehen: Aneta Dortová, geboren in Pilsen, hat sich mit ihrem persönlichen Tanz Stil einen guten Platz in der hart umkämpften Szene erobert. Sie versteht die Tanzschritte als eine Art perkussives „Instrument“, das sich wandelbar und experimentell in musikalischen Konstellationen einbringen kann. Aneta ist in Tanzschulen genauso aktiv wie in etlichen Ensembles und Projekten, in denen sie Sean-Nos und Irish Dance auf immer neue Art mit weiteren perkussiven Tänzen und anderen Musikrichtungen verbinden kann. Vielfältigkeit ist ihr Motto - damit passt sie wunderbar zum Irish Spring Konzept, wo sie während der Show immer wieder überraschend die Bühne stürmt und beweist, dass Irish Folk auch Tanzmusik ist! Festival Finale beim Irish Spring Festival in Bad Wildungen Das traditionelle große Finale ist für viele Fans das Highlight. Es führt alle Künstler nochmals auf die Bühne, um in gemeinsamer Session den Zauber, aber auch den Rausch des Folk-Abends mit dem Publikum zu feiern.
