“Take this,” the young boy sighed, passing the necklace, “it’ll be a reminder of me or whatever. I know I’m not dying or anything but I don’t think we’ll see each other again in person.”
“You really think so?” You sniffled.
“Hey, don’t start crying now you big baby, we can still email and call each other” Peter smiled, nudging your arm.
“You’re the baby, not me, I just had something in my eye.”
“Yeah right [Name], you’re like totally miserable I’m going.”
“You’re the one who got me the necklace! It’s really pretty by the way, I love it,” You said, “I can’t believe you’re leaving me before high school though”
“Look, just promise me we’ll keep in touch?” He asked, eyes meeting yours, “and even if we don’t, take care of the necklace for me?”
“Promise.”
And you hadn’t seen him since that day. It wasn’t like you didn’t try to keep in touch though, it was just a matter of life getting in the way. You had been good friends ever since you were little kids, you had always felt it was a shame you never got to see each other grow up properly. He never forgot you either.
But let’s not dwell on the past. First day of college and you were a wreck. You had always hated change, and you were nervous going somewhere and not knowing anyone except your extremely antisocial roommate, Mj.
You fiddled with your necklace as you struggled to find the room you were in.
“Um, sorry to bother you, but do you know where Professor Browne would be?” You asked, tapping the tall boy on the shoulder.
He turned around, soft eyes looking down at yours, then to your necklace. He smiled, waiting to see your reaction after seeing your childhood friend after years, only to be met with your polite smile. In your defence, he looked completely different. Being bit by a radioactive spider changes a person, including their physique, but it especially changes them while they’re still growing into their bodies. When you knew Peter, he was around about the same height as you and a little chubby. He was now tall and lean, the only thing that hadn’t changed were his brown eyes.
“It’s just down the hall.” He pointed, directing you toward where you were meant to be.
In reality, he was slightly hurt you didn’t recognise him.
“I’m Peter, by the way.” He said, in hopes you’d remember him by his name.
“I’m [Name], thank you for helping me! It was really nice to meet you, but I really need to get going. Thank you again!” You smiled as you walked off.
He felt the urge to call after you, then it dawned on him you probably forgot about your friendship with him. Which obviously wasn’t true, you just didn’t recognise him, but he kept convincing himself it was because you forgot.
“Wait, Peter?” You turned around, “like the Peter from middle school?”
“Took you long enough to realise.” He laughed.
“Shut up no way! You’re kidding right? You look so different! We really need to catch up, what’s your number?” You said, eyes bright and wide.
“Oh, hitting on me already [Name]?” He smirked playfully.
He ended up giving his number as you hurriedly walked to your class, even though you were barely late.
After your class, you decided to meet up with Peter at a nearby cafe. You’d be lying if you said you weren’t nervous, but you were excited regardless.
“Hey,” you smiled sheepishly, “what are the chances, right?”
“Your necklace,” he said, completely ignoring what you said, “you kept it?”
“I promised, remember? It’s beautiful.”
He could only blush at what you said, the fact you kept it after all these years meant so much to him. He remembers the day he picked the necklace for you so vividly, because it was the day he was going to confess his feelings for you. He never did, but he doesn’t regret it since it wouldn’t have worked out anyway, you were both young and he was moving away. Relationship set up for failure.
“How did you even recognise me?” He asked, looking at you with curiosity.
“Your eyes.” you smiled warmly.
“Stop flirting with me, [Name]. I know I’m incredibly handsome and all-”
“You’re still a major geek, by the way.” You cut him off, “biophysics, really? I knew you had a thing for science but wow.”
“Hey! No need for that honestly, we both used to like science” He raised his hands in defence.
“Yeah, used to. Past tense.” You rolled your eyes playfully.
The conversation flowed so easily. It was as if he never left, you talked till cafe closed which was around 10pm.
“Hey, let me walk you to your dorm. I’m sure mine nearby anyway.” He shrugged.
“So chivalrous, Parker. Really, I’m impressed.” You teased, walking beside him, “oh, that totally reminds me, you know spiderman right?”
“Uh, I’ve heard of him before”
“Yeah okay right, you’ve never seen me and him in the same room before,” you started, “I’m definitely him, this is me telling you.”
“Wow, thank you so much [Name] for telling me this massive secret of yours, no idea how you could keep it to yourself honestly.”
“It’s about time I let the whole world know, don’t you think?”
You honestly didn’t mean anything by these comments, you were just joking around, but Peter could feel his heart tighten a bit. He felt like you knew he was Spiderman, which was impossible, but it still worried him.
“Anyways, thanks for dropping me off,” you smiled, “it was really sweet of you.”
He blushed, but you could barely see because it was so dark.
“Before you go,” He said, grabbing your hand as you turned around, “I just wanted to tell you I really missed you.”
You could feel yourself melt a little, “I missed you too.”
He waited for you to go into your dorm as you waved goodbye. His dorm was actually on the other side of campus, he just wanted to walk you.
He spent the whole night thinking about you, how pretty you’d become, how you were still kind. He could feel himself falling for you again already, your energy was just so attractive to him.
Chapter (?) 2 : Late Night Calls
It had been months since you guys had reunited, and you had grown closer than before. It was about 2am and you were still studying. You could feel yourself drowning in what felt like millions of topics, constantly feeling the need to check your phone. You had texted Peter and he hadn’t replied, so throwing yourself into your work was apparently the best option. You liked him so much. It felt silly to have such a big crush on him, but he treated you so well.
While you were studying, Peter was out on night patrol. Balancing education and heroism was always difficult, it left him feeling so overwhelmed he’d shut people out. During night patrol, he’d gotten into a pretty bad fight. He found himself swinging to campus, more specifically your dorm.
Your phone buzzed.
Incoming call..
You answered, squinting at the bright light coming from the device, “Hello?”
“[Name]? I’m so sorry to bother you, but can I come over?” His voice rushed and breathless.
You sat up, feeling way more awake, “Is everything okay? What’s happened? Are you out?”
Your questions were interrupted by a soft knock on the window.
Peter had gotten used to the quick clothes changing by now. He left his suit nearby outside, he was 99% sure no one would take it.
You walked to your window to see Peter, but he had several cuts and bruises across his face.
“Oh my God” you gasped under your breath, trying to stay quiet as you opened the window.
He came through the window as you sat him on your bed.
“Just stay here,” you whispered, “there’s a first aid kit in the other room.”
You came back with the first aid kit and began to help him, no questions asked yet.
“Thank you,” his voice inaudible, “I mean it, you’re so sweet [Name].”
“How did you get to the window?” You asked, placing a bandage on his head.
“Uh, adrenaline?”
You furrowed your eyebrows, “what happened?”
He sighed, avoiding eye contact with you. Was he really about to tell you his secret?
“I’m Spiderman.”
“What?” You said, forgetting all about mj sleeping in the other room.
You quickly brought a hand to your mouth, eyes still wide.
“I’m sorry, I know it’s a shock, I just haven’t told anyone before.” He started, “but um, I have something else to tell you.”
He reached for your hands, squeezing them slightly, “I really like you, [Name].”
Your eyes were practically about to pop out your head.
“You’re joking right?” You chuckled sheepishly.
“No, Im serious [Name]. I love everything about you. I love your smile, your laugh. God I love your laugh.”
Your brain was trying to process all of this without making too much of a scene.
Your hands reached for his cheek, “Can I?”
He answered your question by planting a soft kiss on your lips, smiling into it.
You pulled away, “I really like you too, Parker.”
All he could do was blush.
“I cant believe you’re Spiderman, though. I have a million questions.” You laughed.
“Shoot.”

The pressing weight of your backpack dug into your shoulders as you quickly made your way to Yale’s school of art. Though your major was in English, you had connections that allowed you to use the photography facilities located elsewhere. Your bag was full of books, film equipment, and the negatives that you were anxious to develop.
It was college game day, the Harvard vs. Yale game to be more specific, so shoving through blue and red crowds of students was at the bottom of your list. Your trip to the dark room had to be short because even though you hated the idea of all things sports, you felt that tradition outweighed your personal grievances.
As you shut the door to the room and found yourself alone with the quiet, red space, your mind seemed to lighten. The pictures you had brought with you made their way out of your bag and into the developing process. You went through the usual motions until you hung them up to dry. Before you were beautiful headshots and silhouettes of your roommate, Yelena.
While most were taken with the consent of Yelena, there were some too extraordinary to possibly miss out on. The red hues accentuated the curves you so desperately longed to stroke. Of course, this information was unbeknownst to her.
She was the reason why you were so anxious to develop the pictures. Looking through the lense that wonderful day made you so much more excited to see them all finished. The day had been an exciting one. During the summer before the two of you went back to school you had a day at the beach. The weather was perfect, and she was perfect. She wore this lilac swim set that complimented her blonde hair and summer kissed skin so well you thought you would never be able to tear your eyes away from her.
As you went through each picture of her smiling, laughing, and being her usual self you came across the pictures that you tried so hard not to take. Your desire got the better part of you at this moment. The pictures arose of her laying belly down on her towel, a perfect view of her toned back paired with her other curves you could barely speak of. It was hard not to think about that day without becoming wildly sad that she had no idea you liked her with everything inside you.
These few intimate pictures would go where the rest of them are; hidden away in your journal. It was easier this way because you didn’t want to ruin your friendship that you valued so much. But what if she felt the same? You pulled yourself out of your delusions or else you might start to have hope.
She must have read your mind because your phone started ringing and as you pulled it out of your bag, Yelena’s face was vibrating on your screen.
“Hello?” you answered
“Where are you? You better not still be in that stupid dark room!” The sound of massive crowds were loud on the other side of the phone, but your voice drowned out every noise that could be taking place.
“Ha, funny story…”
“Seriously! The game starts soon, y/n. Hurry!”
“You miss me or something, Belova?”
She chuckled once. “And if I did?”
There was silence on your end because your one moment of bravery was already spent, leaving you speechless. “Uhm I’ll start heading your way right now. I should only be about 15 minutes out.”
“Perfect, I’ll save you a seat!”
“Thanks, Lena. Love you, bye,” you said naturally.
It was only then did you realize the words that slipped out of your mouth. Love you, really? You hoped that she thought it wasn’t how you really meant it.
After your stupid mistake, you took your pictures, tucked them away in your journal, and took off out of the building. The day was sunny but the fall crisp in the air took the edge off of the heat from the sun. Even from far away you could hear the triumph of the marching band playing their game day songs. Though your dislike of sports was one thing, there was a certain feeling you got on days like this; the music, the people, the adrenaline, that really made you succumb to the American tradition.
Finding Yelena in the crowd would be the easy part, the hard part would be keeping your eyes off her the entire afternoon. Luckily, she generally picked the same area each game day to sit so it wouldn’t be an extreme challenge to spot her out.
Your suspicion came true when you saw her jumping up and down a few aisles up from the front towards the 40 yard line. She was dressed in her usual Yelena chic, but with a hint of school spirit. You smiled to yourself at her excitement for the game and waited to see if she noticed you walking up to greet her.
“You’re here!” she yelled. She shuffled through other people on her row and fell into your arms. The strong smell of her cologne filled your nose and warmed your heart. You hugged her tightly back and squeezed the leather jacket that was draped around her. “You almost missed the game,” she whined.
“Lena, kickoff hasn’t even started, but I see that hasn’t stopped you from starting early.” You eyed the cold beer she had in her Yale koozie.
“Oh hush and let me be. Now get in there so we can watch.” As you were sneaking past other students Yelena tapped you on the ass and giggled. This was nothing unusual for Yelena, but each time she did it, it made your cheeks glow red.
The two of you settled into your places in the stadium surrounded by a couple of your friends and watched the game begin. The first half of the game was intense with each team up and down on scores. When the buzzer sounded to notify it was halftime everyone seemed to sigh in relief. The crowds started to shuffle again to take a quick intermission before the second half.
“So y/n, what photos were you able to get this time?” Yelena asked.
It was the question you were avoiding answering. If you pulled out the few you wanted to show her, the rest you spent your time hiding would be exposed as well.
“Oh they weren’t anything important, just a couple rolls I hadn’t developed yet.” You tried to play it cool not to give it away.
“Everything of yours is important to me.” Her saying that just made it so much harder to keep them all a secret. “Come on, please show me.”
She gave you her best pouty face and it was so unfortunate that it worked. You rolled your eyes and tried to open the journal in your bag so you could find the pictures you wanted her to see. Once they were all collected you passed them over to her and her face lit up.
“The day at the beach! I remember these.” She flipped through them with a grin on her face. She laughed when the picture of you popped up with your pants soaking yet from the ocean waves. “You were so pissed.”
“Pissed is an understatement,” you added. She smiled up at you and your stomach was tied up in knots. You weren’t sure whether it was the dimples that just so sneakily showed up, her rosy lips, or the bright green eyes that you could finally see without her sunglasses getting in the way.
“These are so amazing— you’re amazing. I need copies of these,” she begged.
“Anything for you,” you smiled.
“Anything?” Yelena smirked.
Your cheeks darkened red. “Shut up.” You shoved her a little with your shoulder.
By the time you showed all your creations off to Yelena the second half of the game was in full swing.
The second was more intense than the first due to Yale being behind for most of the game. Yelena was starting to become too anxious for your liking, and you hoped for her sake that you guys could pull out the win. There was a minute left on the clock and Yelena practically had your arm in a chokehold.
“Fucking run the ball, jackass!” Yelena yelled.
“Hey now, you wanna simmer down a little for me?” you asked, hoping to calm her down a bit.
She chuckled a little and leaned into your arm more. “Sorry, sorry. Anything for you,” she mocked from your previous words.
She quickly turned her head back so she could enjoy the last minute of the game. Her grip only became tighter around your arm as the clock ticked down to the wire. The whistle sounded to indicate that Yale called for a timeout. They needed to sort out their plans if they were going to try and pull out this win. They were down 28-24 with only around 30 seconds to go.
Once they were back in the game the crowd went wild, Yelena included. Number 13 got a hold of the ball and ran all the way to the end zone for a touchdown. Yelena screamed like she never had before and threw her hands up in the air. You cheered along with her at your school’s win. Yelena jumped into your arms out of excitement and you held her tightly as you swept her up in the air.
“We did it, Lena!” you cheered.
She found her footing back on the ground and she grabbed your face and looked into your eyes. “We did it!” The pure shock on your face made her recoil back a bit which resulted in her having matching cheeks just like yourself. “Uh- I- I’m sorry.”
“No, no. You didn’t do anything wrong,” you smiled. “Let’s just get out of here before we’re all packed in.”
You said goodbye to your friends right before a Yelena grabbed your hand to lead you through the crowd. You knew it meant nothing, but having your hand in hers was a dream come true.
When you had made it out of the crowd, it seemed as though the two of you forgot you were still linked together. You quickly broke it off before she could say anything about it.
“So, are we going to keep walking with nowhere to go or are you taking me out?” Yelena smirked.
“Am I what?” you questioned.
“You really are worked up today.” Yelena laughed, but you knew it was true and you didn’t know how else to hide it.
“Why don’t we go back to my dorm? My roommate isn’t there like usual so we could watch a movie or something?”
“Do you have popcorn?” she asked and you nodded. “Then it’s a deal.”
The two of you talked and laughed on the walk to your dorm. Like usual, Yelena made it so difficult to not stare at her. She had such a unique confidence that drew you deeper and deeper into her presence. The way she carried herself was like no other.
When you made it into your room Yelena immediately started searching for your snacks that you kept in the drawers under your bed. You set your things down on your desk and sat down in your chair.
“Do you mind if I borrow some of your clothes?” Yelena asked.
“I don’t know why you even ask anymore, Lena. Your closet consists of half of my clothes anyway,” you laughed.
She rolled her eyes and started taking her clothes off to change. Trying not to watch her change was not easy to come by. You turned around in your chair and pretended to unload your back from the day. What Yelena didn’t know is that your mirror allowed the perfect angle to see different parts of her.
What really got you was the matching black bra and underwear that revealed itself as she took her clothes off. This surprise caused you to knock a few things off your desk in the process, one of them being your journal. Naturally, Yelena turned around to try and help.
“What did you do, get angry and throw things off the desk?” Yelena laughed. It was awful timing to have other pictures that Yelena did not see poking out of your journal. “What are these?”
“Oh, you don’t have to-”
“Y/n, what are these?”
“Just pictures…”
Yelena stared at you puzzlingly as she picked up the journal off the floor and opened it to reveal the hidden pictures inside. Her brows furrowed as she inspected each one in great detail.
“Y/n, these are…so beautiful.”
You stood there staring down at the pictures or anywhere else in the room, just so you didn’t have to look at her.
“Why didn’t you show me these?” Yelena’s voice was softer now, more gentle. “Y/n?”
“I-I don’t know… I guess I thought you would think it was weird,” you replied shyly.
“Why would it be weird?”
Shit. If you told her why then she would know how you felt, but if you say nothing at all that’s not any better. You were stuck.
“I don’t know…”
She searched your face from any indication of an explanation. There was so much happening that you almost forgot Yelena was half naked.
“These are beautiful.”
“Only because you’re in them,” you bravely said.
Yelena blushed, something you didn’t see very often. “Damn y/l/n, you sure do know the way to my heart.”
“I’m serious.” You felt like your world had stopped at the thought of where this was going. “You’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen, Yelena. How could I not take those pictures that day?”
Yelena was quiet now. You weren’t sure whether this was good or bad. You were tired of being subtle, especially now that you had her right where you wanted her.
“I don’t know what to say,” Yelena said. Her eyes were full of something you hadn’t seen before.
You looked at her for a moment trying to build up your confidence one last time because you knew if you didn’t then you would never be able to do this.
“For once Belova, I would love it if you said nothing at all.” You stepped closer so you could delicately slide your hands up behind her neck. She looked taken off guard, but she definitely was not fighting it. When Yelena took her hands and placed them around the straps of your overalls and pulled you closer so you were face to face, you knew she might’ve wanted this just as much as you.
“Just kiss me already,” she whispered close enough you could feel the breath on your lips. With her words you threw your lips against hers in a kiss that you waited much too long for. Your lips moved against hers as your hands were tangled in her blonde waves. Yelena pulled and grabbed at anything on you just to make you even closer to one another.
You shifted your position to try and push yourself against Yelena so that she may lean against the bed. You knew exactly what your intentions were as of now, but you were not sure how Yelena would feel about it.
The first brush of her tongue against yours sent shivers down your spine and you weren’t sure if she heard your quiet moan or not. You saved your restraint for so many months, so now there was nothing holding you back. Your lips traveled away from hers to down her soft neck. You placed rough and hungry kisses along the nape of her neck and you could tell just by her demeanor that she was having a hard time keeping quiet.
“Uhm, what about your roommate?” Yelena asked in between heavy breaths
“What about them?”
“What if they, you know, walk in?” You must have found a sweet spot on her neck because her question ended with a whine.
“They’re never here.”
“But what if-”
“Just shut up already,” you said.
You smiled against her lips as you threw her shoulders down on the bed as gently as you could. It was hard to take things slow when you had been craving exactly this for far too long.
As your hungry lips continued to move against Yelena’s, you found your fingers playing with the band of her underwear. Your fingers traced all along the skin that was covered.
“I want to see every part of you that was hiding in these photos,” you said. Your mind went back to the day you took those sexy pictures of her and it made you even more desperate for what was hiding beneath Yelena’s garments.
“I just need you to touch me,” Yelena said, breathless. “Please touch me.”
You were quick to pull down her panties to reveal a sight you never thought you would have the pleasure of seeing. Even the panties that brushed against her pussy made her wince in pleasure.
“Please,” begged Yelena.
After undressing her bottom, in one swift motion you unhooked her bra.
“You want me to touch you like this?”
You placed your lips around one of her nipples as you watched her head fall into the bed. Your tongue made its way to circle around her nipple, slowly building up her desire.
Without thinking, you slightly tugged on her nipple with your teeth. Yelena moaned just loud enough for you to hear. It was the most beautiful sound that you had been dying to hear since you met her.
You wanted to move on further.
“Or I could maybe touch you like this?”
Your hand was almost shaking as it made its way down to get center. Your fingers slowly but surely made small circles on her clit. Now, Yelena was panting with lust and trying to keep quiet despite what you wanted.
“Fuck, Lena. You’re so wet.” You couldn’t help yourself from pointing out the obvious. The wetness that covered her only made yours grow.
Yelena had her mouth covered now, most likely paranoid that others would hear her like she had said earlier.
“I want to hear you,” you demanded.
Yelena was moaning softly through her hand now, a reaction to your words.
“Be a good girl and take your hand away from your mouth. I want to hear you.”
She did as you wished and removed her hand. The hand that previously resided over her mouth was now gripped onto the bed.
You took a minute to admire her before moving on further. Her body was even more gorgeous than you could’ve ever imagined. Her toned arms that held on so tightly to the bed, her curves that wavered like the ocean down her body, and her perfectly kissed skin, just how you liked it.
“Maybe you want me to touch you… like this?”
You went even further and slowly slipped your fingers inside her pussy. As you sunk your fingers deep inside her, Yelena became even more worked up.
“Oh fuck,” she moaned. “Please keep going. It feels so good.”
Seeing Yelena drown in the pleasure of your fingers inside her was something you never thought you would live to see.
“You feel so good, baby.” Yelena seemed to like the name because she let out a long whine. “Good girl. Be louder for me.”
You loved the power you had over her in such a short amount of time.
The pace of your fingers stayed quite steady now. Yelena moaned with each stroke that went deeper in her pretty pussy. There was one more thing that you longed to do before she reached her limit.
“You want me to touch you like this, baby?”
Finally, with your fingers still keeping a rhythm inside her, you lowered yourself down on the bed so that you could taste her.
Your tongue made its way to make contact with her clit. Yelena was the loudest now, and with her noise came her restless body. Much like her, you were just as overcome with pleasure.
Her hips bucked into your face with each increasing second. Your tongue explored every single part of her, almost as if you would never get to do it again. Your fingers sped up now that you could tell she was getting closer.
“Holy fuck, right there,” Yelena moaned. “Keep going, I’m so close.”
“Good job, baby,” you murmured. “I want you to cum around my fingers.”
Your words only sped up the process more. Her hips moved even faster which made it hard for you to keep your pace. Your tongue and fingers moved rapidly as she started to reach the peak of her climax
“I’m gonna cum baby,” Yelena said breathlessly.
All at once, Yelena let out a loud stream of moans that you were sure echoed through the hall in your dorm. You didn’t care. You were happy to have her all to yourself, and now, everyone knew it too.
“Good girl, let it all out,” you praised her.
Yelena laid there on your bed to try and catch her breath. You couldn’t help but watch the result of your doings as she looked so worked up.
You took your last opportunity to soak her body in by kissing all the way up her thighs, stomach, chest, and face. Yelena seemed to be hiding her face a bit, most definitely different from her usual demeanor.
You moved her hand that shielded her face. “You okay?”
She gave a thumbs up
“Does that mean it felt okay?”
She had a surprised look on her face. “The entire hall heard me and you think it didn’t feel good?!”
You laughed. “Just checking.”
You both laid next to each other for a while in silence before Yelena spoke up.
“So…how long have you felt this way?”
“When did you start school here?”
“Uhm…two years ago?”
“Then two years.”
Yelena looked over at you. “Really?”
“Really,” you nodded. “How could I not, just look at you.” Yelena smiled at your words.
“Well, I’ve worked up an appetite after all that fun. What do you say we make some popcorn and watch a movie and pretend like no one heard all of that?”
“That sounds perfect to me.”
The two of you spent the rest of the night in each other’s company talking and reveling in the day’s events. You laid in bed thinking about how happy you were to have taken those pictures that day on the beach.

You practically moan as you toss your backpack to the ground at the top of the bluff. Bucky laughs, following your lead. The camping trip was Steve’s idea, so of course, he didn’t have any trouble with the hike up the bluff or with the heavy backpack. He practically skipped the whole way here.
He gives you a bright smile as he unclips the tent from the bottom of his pack. “You two gonna help me or am I on my own here?” He asks, spreading out the tarp. Bucky rolls his eyes but helps out his friend.
In an effort to be somewhat helpful, you decide to start gathering wood for the fire. Even though your legs feel noodly and it’s way hotter than you thought it would be, you’re still happy to be here. The three of you will start your 4th and final year of college in just a few weeks; it feels surreal.
You’ve known Steve and Bucky since freshman year and it’s crazy to think that at the end of this school year, the three of you won’t necessarily be in the same place anymore. Both the boys will probably get shipped out after graduation and you haven’t quite decided what’s next for you.
It’s not very easy to force yourself to stop thinking about it, but when you haul back your arm full of firewood and see Bucky and Steve bickering about the tent, it all seems to fade away. You dump the wood and dig out a fire pit, trying to remember your firemaking skills from girl scouts.
It takes you a few tries and way more matches than Troupe Leader Nicols would have approved of, but eventually, you have a fire. The boys manage to get the tent up without killing each other, and this place is starting to come together.
“Look at you go, angel.” Bucky starts pulling the food out of his pack, laying it out so he can start cooking. Even though you’ve known him for three years, you haven’t quite gotten used to how tall Bucky is. Steve too, honestly. They’re both built like goddamned brick walls and even when Bucky is sitting beside you, he isn’t even eye level.
Now you won’t beat around the bush. Bucky is incredibly easy on the eyes. Especially with the firelight flickering in his deep blue eyes. His brown hair is swept up off his forehead in a carelessly sexy way that makes you want to scream, but you keep it contained. It’s never been like that between the two of you. He’s always kept his conquests out of your friendship, opting to give you bare-bone details about his casual hookups.
It’s the same with Steve. You watch him as he walks toward the fire, a soft smile on his lips. He’s beautiful, you’ve thought so since the moment you laid eyes on him. He’s always watching out for you, making sure you’re doing okay, checking in. He makes butterflies burst in your heart every time he comes around.
“Thanks for doing this,” Steve says, sitting beside you. Bucky arranges the little tin foil packets on the hot stones, a pleasant smile on his face. “I’m happy the three of us could finally get out here. We’ve been wanting to show you this place for a while.”
Your heart warms at his words. Steve and Bucky are your best friends, they’ve been there for you through all the ups and down college has thrown at you. You’re not sure you would’ve survived without them. Part of you feels guilty for developing feelings for them, for the fact that you want more when they’ve already given you everything.
“I’m glad you invited me,” you reply, nudging Steve with your shoulder. “This is perfect.” The glow from the fire softens his usual sharp, classically charming features, and you feel yourself melt at the sight of them. Behind him, the sun is setting, painting the sky with bright oranges and pinks, and everything feels so… right.
Once the food is warmed up, Bucky passes everything out and you all dig in. Conversation flows easily between the three of you, reminiscing and laughing about the past, and before you know it, the stars are shining in the sky.
“It’s so clear up here,” Bucky mumbles, tilting his chin to stare at the constellations. “Can never see this many stars in the city.” You follow his line of sight and find his eyes tracing the outline of Hercules.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen this many,” you whisper. “It’s beautiful.” Bucky turns, grinning down at you. Suddenly, it feels like there’s no air. The way he’s looking at you sends shivers down your spine.
“You’re beautiful, angel.” Your lips part on a gasp, mind spinning.
“Bucky.” You can barely hear your voice when you speak. He just smirks and flicks his eyes behind you to where Steve is watching silently. You quickly turn to him, heat flooding your body.
“S’mores?” He asks, not appearing fazed by the moment between you and Bucky. You watch him arrange the s’mores materials and hand out sticks to roast marshmallows as if nothing happened.
“Steve, I–” He just smiles and shakes his head a little as if it’s the most normal thing in the world. You shake it off, taking the stick from Steve and roasting a marshmallow. You stare at the flames, feeling off-kilter from the heated moment with Bucky. You don’t want to hurt Steve, you care so much about him. You couldn’t ever pick between the two of them, your feelings equally strong for both men. You don’t want him to feel like you’ve chosen Bucky over him.
Before your marshmallow has a chance to light on fire, you pull it away from the flames and make your s’more. The chocolate melts in your mouth and you grin; s’mores could probably solve all your problems.
You feel fingers turning your chin and suddenly you’re back face-to-face with Bucky. “You’ve got a little somethin’ here, angel,” he whispers. His thumb gently rubs against the corner of your mouth as he slowly leans toward you. When he’s just inches away, his lips tip up into his signature smirk, before closing the distance and pressing a kiss to your lips. He’s kissing you softly, but there’s so much passion in it. Bucky’s hand cups your face while his metal fingers rest on your waist, holding you steady.
You lean into his kiss, head buzzing. You’ve wanted this for years, since the first time you met him, and now it’s happening. But you can’t forget that Steve is beside you, watching. Watching his best friend kiss you right in front of him. That’s what makes you pull away.
“So fuckin’ sweet,” Bucky says, thumb tracing over your lips.
“Language.” Steve’s scolding tone is also a teasing one, and you turn to find him watching you and Bucky with hooded eyes. He reaches out, placing a hand on your leg. His palm is warm against your skin but you still shiver at that contact.
“Stevie,” you whisper. He nods, shifting closer until he can lean his forehead against yours.
“You’re beautiful, angel.” When he kisses you, he tastes sweet like the s’more and smells smokey from the fire. His hand rests on your hip opposite from where Bucky’s is, and the feeling of both of them touching you at the same time sends you spinning. Never, in any of the scenarios you’d thought up did they both want you, let alone at the same time. Sure, you’ve fantasized about it, dreamed about it, but you didn’t think it’d ever happen.
Bucky’s hands find your shoulders, grazing your neck. You feel him lean down and press his lips to the sensitive spot beneath your jaw and you groan into Steve’s kiss. Heat builds between the three of you, a sense of urgency you’ve never felt before.
“You’re perfect,” Bucky says into your skin, sucking gentle marks in places that make you see stars. “Our perfect little angel.” Steve pulls away, placing a gentle kiss on your nose, and you look between the two men, stunned.
“I never thought…” your voice fades as you lose yourself in both of them.
“Never thought what?” Steve prompts, trailing across your face.
“Never thought that you two would feel this way for me.” Bucky chuckles, still pouring his attention into your neck.
“We’ve never met a girl like you, angel,” Bucky tells you, and you truly believe it. “You’ve been ours since you met us, we’ve just been waiting for you to realize it.” Your heart slams in your chest so hard you swear it’s going to burst right out.
“How do you feel?” Steve asks, holding your face in his big, warm hands. “Is this okay?” You nod quickly, earning you a laugh from both men.
“I feel like I’m floating,” you reply. Four hands move over your body, feeling every inch of you. Two sets of lips kiss you, taste you, and unravel you. Bucky adjusts you so you’re able to lean back against him and Steve moves with you, not letting you go for even a moment. Sandwiched between the two mountain-like men, you’ve never felt safer, never felt better.
When they pull away, both men help you stand. You have to crane your neck to keep eye contact, but it’s worth it to see them both smiling happily at you.
“Angel,” Bucky says, turning your head with two fingers. You love that nickname. You don’t remember where it came from, you used to roll your eyes at it, but you’ve always loved it. Especially when Bucky says it like that. “We can stop if you want to, we don’t want you to feel pressure to do anything you don’t want to. Okay?”
“What if I want it all?” You ask, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Then we’ll give it to you,” Steve answers. He guides you toward him, hooking his fingers in the hem of your shirt before tugging it off you. You shiver in the night air, but Bucky is quick to warm you up, his lips finding your shoulder.
Steve works your shorts off next, helping you step out of them. In just your panties and bra, you should feel exposed, but you don’t. Steve and Bucky make you feel beautiful, they make you feel strong. Steve admires you for a moment, bright blue eyes trailing over your body appreciatively. Then, he turns you to face Bucky.
“I’ve been waiting so long for this, angel,” he whispers, leaning in and kissing you. His metal fingers are cold against your skin, leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake.
Behind you, Steve steps in close, tracing his fingers along your back. The shapes he draws are followed by his lips. It takes you a moment, but you realize he’s drawing the constellations on your back, kissing the stars into your skin.
Both of the men kneel and Steve unclasps your bra. Bucky instantly wraps his lips around one of your nipples, taking your other breast into his hand. Steve watches from over your shoulder, breathing heavily as he takes in the sight of Bucky worshiping you. His hands trace down your torso, finding the waistband of your panties and dragging them down your legs. You gasp, one hand burying itself in Bucky’s hair, the other reaching back to hold onto Steve.
Steve’s fingers slide up your legs before his right hand reaches the crux of your thighs. His other hand anchors in Bucky’s hair, tugging it lightly. You’re desperate for him; for them, and you know he can feel it. His fingers slide against you, knocking your clit with each pass. “You’re so wet,” he tells you, sliding a finger inside of you. “So wet for us, angel.”
Bucky groans against your nipple before pulling away to watch Steve finger you. “Fuck, Steve,” he grumbles, resing his forehead against your sternum. “I know, language.” Steve chuckles by your ear, adding a second finger. He picks up his pace, hitting a spot inside of you that makes your head go fuzzy. Your knees wobble, and Bucky holds them, not letting you fall.
“Why don’t we take this to the tent, Buck,” Steve suggests. The other man nods, and a second later, he scoops you into his arms. Steve helps the two of you settle the tent after putting out the fire, and once you’re laying down between the two of them, they’re back on you.
Bucky slides down between your legs, tongue running over your pussy like he’s starving, while Steve’s tongue laves your breasts. Bucky works you back to the point Steve had gotten you to, the band in your belly ready to snap. Your fingers tangle in his hair, tugging him to where you want him, and as he works tight circles over your clit, you come apart, shaking in his and Steve’s arms.
“So perfect, angel, so perfect,” Bucky whispers against your clit. “Gimme another one, come on.” He slides two fingers inside of you, stretching you while he tastes you. You’re sensitive since you just came, but Bucky is quick to soothe any ache you feel. Steve sucks marks across your breasts and neck, ones that you’re so happy to wear, and you come again just thinking about it.
“Please, please,” you moan, gently guiding Bucky’s face away from your pussy.
“Tell us what you want,” Steve tells you, kissing your cheek. You glance between him and Bucky, who is still resting between your thighs, and feel a renewed heat in your belly.
“I want both of you.” Bucky raises an eyebrow, urging you to continue. “I want both of you at the same time.” Steve and Bucky exchange a glance, and for a moment, you worry you’ve suggested the wrong thing. “Or, or not, I’m sorry I didn’t mean–”
“Angel,” Bucky says, nipping at your inner thigh. “That was the perfect suggestion.”
“Really?” You look at Steve for confirmation, unable to wipe the grin from your face.
“Really,” he replies. “We’ve been wanting that since we both realized we had feelings for you. We talk about it all the time, what we’d do to you, what you’d sound like.” Your mind floods with downright pornographic images of those conversations until Steve and Bucky pull you back to the real world.
“If you’re gonna take us we’re gonna have to get you ready,” Bucky says, shifting onto his knees. He slides his hands over your legs, but his eyes are on Steve. “You just gonna stare, Stevie? Or are you gonna do something?” Steve does his best to maneuver over to Bucky, and when he’s between your legs too, he strips Bucky out of his shirt and works his pants down too. Bucky strips Steve next, and before you know it, they’re both naked. You can’t take your eyes off of them, off of their perfectly sculpted bodies.
Bucky tugs Steve into a bruising kiss, both men melting into each other. They fit perfectly together, feeding off one another in a way you’ve never seen before. It’s beautiful. When they pull apart, they’re both panting. They turn to you next, lust filling their eyes.
Steve sinks lower and Bucky slides two fingers inside of you. Bucky moans as Steve takes his dick into his mouth. You prop yourself up on your elbows so you can watch. You’ve never had voyeuristic tendencies before, but these men bring out a new side of you.
Bucky smirks, one hand working you, the other hand cupping Steve’s head. He looks completely in his element. Bucky’s fingers scissor inside of you, stretching you out, but seeing how big he and Steve are, you aren’t sure any amount of preparation will be enough.
When Bucky decides you’re ready, he moves, pulling Steve off of him. Steve’s face is flushed, but he grins as he positions himself between your legs. He lines himself up with your pussy and notches the head of his dick at your entrance. You press your lips to his, moaning into the kiss as he presses inside of you. He’s stretching you more than Bucky’s fingers, but it feels so incredible.
“Oh my god, angel,” he moans, wrapping his arms around you. ”You’re so tight, squeezing me so good.” Bucky lays down beside you, hand sliding down to where Steve is fucking you. He circles your clit slowly in contrast to the pace Steve is setting.
“Doesn’t he feel good?” Bucky whispers into your ear, sliding his fingers lower, slipping one inside of you with Steve’s dick. You jolt at the feeling, but Steve kisses you sweetly, nipping at your lower lip. “His cock is perfect, isn’t it, angel? Hitting all the right spots, huh?”
“Shit, yes,” you moan, your head lolling back as Steve fucks you. “It feels so good.” Steve and Bucky seem to be communicating telepathically, because they keep moving in sync. Steve will shift, Bucky will move with him. They play your body like a fiddle, like they know you better than you know yourself.
Eventually, they manage to get Steve below you with you on top, riding him. He’s even deeper this way, hitting spots inside of you that you didn’t know existed. Bucky sits behind you, sliding his hands all over you, kissing you everywhere.
“You ready for the next step?” Bucky asks, sinking his teeth into your shoulder.
“Yes, yes, please,” you whimper. You’ve been on edge for a while, everytime you get close to coming Steve slows down, not letting you finish. Bucky rustles through a bag and you hear a click before you feel one of his fingers, slick and warm, pass over your ass. You shiver at the feeling but keep grinding against Steve.
Bucky works his finger inside of you, and even just the feeling of his finger in your ass coupled with Steve’s dick makes the band in your belly snap. You come on a groan, leaning back against Bucky’s chest. Once you’re relaxed, he adds a second finger. You feel like you’re going to explode. Bucky keeps working you, keeps stretching you, all the while whispering in your ear.
“So perfect for us, angel, so good. You squeezin’ my fingers so tight, squeezing Stevie so good.” After he feels you’re ready, you feel him pull away. Next, his lubed cock presses against your ass and you stifle a groan. Bucky runs his hands over you soothingly before he presses inside of you.
Steve moans loudly from below you, gripping your hips tightly. “Oh my god, Bucky, she’s so much tighter now.” You whimper as they start to move in tandem, stretching you to your limit.
“Come on, Stevie, show her how much you want her,” Bucky goads as he tweaks your nipples. Steve bucks below you, fucking into you faster. Your eyes roll back, your head falls onto Bucky’s shoulder, and all you can do is take it. Bucky presses in deeper, fucking you at an agonizing pace.
“God, angel, you feel so good. You’re perfect, so beautiful.” He whimpers the words, and you can tell he’s getting close. You run your hands along his chest, scraping him lightly with your nails, and he comes on a loud moan. Bucky keeps thrusting into you, making a sensitive Steve whine, but he comes soon after, filling you.
The three of you lay in an exhausted, sexed-out heap, breathing heavily. You’re blissed out between the two of them, loving how even though they’re about to pass out, they’re still caressing you; still holding you.
“I should go get something to clean us up,” Steve says, moving to sit up, but you grab him and pull him back down, tugging him into your chest.
“Not yet,” you whisper. Bucky joins your cuddle heap despite the heat coming off everyone’s bodies. “Just stay here with me.”
When setting up the tent, Bucky and Steve had opted to keep the rain fly off since it’s not supposed to rain, so you can see the stars through the mesh top of the tent. After a few moments of sated silence, you speak again. “Is this real?”
“Of course it’s real, angel,” Bucky replies, squeezing one of your hands. “Our feelings for you are real. This is real.”
“Your feelings for us are real, right?” Steve asks, lacing his fingers with your other hand.
“Of course.”
“Then it’s real,” Steve says. “We care about you so much, angel, and we want this to work out. Real.”
Eventually, you let Steve get you cleaned up. The three of you fall asleep in a tangled mess, but you couldn’t be happier. Tonight was perfect, this trip, these men, everything. Absolutely perfect.

A stony silence follows you back to the house. Bucky hasn’t said much and you can tell by the edge of his jaw, that he doesn’t want to. You feel as if you’ve done something but you couldn’t place it if you tried. His mood has proven as mercurial as his daughters.
You help him bring the groceries inside and put the bags up on the island. He moves with purpose but not words. You nibble your lip and wring your hands.
“Anything else I can help with?” You offer.
“Nah, go see Naomi. She’ll be getting antsy.”
He doesn’t look at you. That almost hurts. You’re not entirely certain what’s changed.
“Alright,” you accept his dismissal.
You turn and tread down the hall. You reach to fix the frame, slightly lighter than your previous ones. Maybe it was too much money. You tried to tell him he didn’t need to buy them. Your stomach churns with guilt as you get to Naomi’s door. He should be worrying about her, not you.
You tap on the door. It opens almost at once. Naomi wears only a black lace thong and matching bra that shows off most of her tits. You stammer as you gape at her.
“Thought I heard you,” she grabs you and hauls you inside, “oh my god! Are those the new ones?”
She swings the door and clings to you, coming toe to toe as she brings her hand up to your glasses. She grins and pokes out her tongue.
“These would be even cuter in pink,” she chimes.
“Oh, uh, yeah, I don’t mind the purple,” you shrug.
“Anyway!” She claps her hands and wiggles in excitement, “as you can see, I’ve been trying to find the perfect outfit.”
She spins and skips over to her bed. There are layers and layers of clothes across it. You fold your arms and watch her from across the room as she sifts through the fabric.
“So, I was thinking,” she pulls up a dress, “white? Not too pure,” she shows you the pure white with the various colours of flowers speckled all around. The cut is short and the cups have a tiny frill at the top. It’s cute.
“Oh, I like it,” you approach and take it from her. It will be tight and a bit less than you’re used to. You don’t see the hem going much further than your thigh.
“Just put a bikini under it. We can hop in the pool,” she suggests. “For me,” she holds up a strapless red bikini top, “under this,” she shows you a sheer black crop top, “jean shorts.”
“Sounds good,” you comment as you peer over her menagerie of fashion. “Wow, you sure have a lot of clothes.”
“Oh, yeah, uh…” she swallows, “dad likes to take me shopping.” She turns away and lays out her select pieces on the pillow, “after the divorce or whatever.”
“Ah, makes sense,” you utter.
“Anyway, we should get ready. I’m gonna doll you up!”
You flinch as she turns back to you. Her lips curl as she slinks towards you. She grasps your shoulders and looks you over, “a nice baby pink gloss– are you okay? You look…”
“Tired,” you interject, “long day.”
“Oh, with him, it always is,” she scoffs. “Anyway, how is it up close?” She pushes her hair back to show her face clearly. You can’t see much of the blemish but there’s a bit of swelling still in her cheek. “I think I did decent. Just gotta keep my head above water.”
“Yeah uh, it looks… good,” you swallow, “Naomi, are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m great,” she puts her hands on her hips, “no Addy, like I promised. I’m being a good girl.” She shimmies and spins with a kick of her foot behind her, “I should warn you, my dad’s friends are a bit… eccentric. You’ll love Sam, though. Nice guy,” she bites her lip and hums, “I think I like him a bit too much for dad’s taste.
⛱️
You follow Naomi out of the room, your hands firmly on the hem of your dress. You feel like each step exposes more and more of you. Even your borrowed swim bottoms don’t relieve your insecurity. They don’t exactly cover as much as you’d like either.
Her hair is drawn up into a messy bun, not the sort you twist up for laundry day but the effortless style that takes forever to master. Her top barely goes past her bikini top, hinting sheerly at what’s beneath. Her denim shorts are low rise and cut at an angle that shows a bit of cheek. You don’t know how she pulls it off or gets away with it.
As you come out into the sunshine, you smell the grill and hear it spitting as Bucky stands behind it with a spatula. A man stands with him, a can in hand as he scowls at the barbecue. You hear him loudly critiquing Bucky’s method.
“You shoulda lined the sausages up this way, and the burgers here,” the man points, “then you could toast some buns.”
“Shut up, Sam,” Bucky grumbles, his grimness lingering.
“Ugh, guess he’s in a mood,” Naomi sneers as she heads for the cooler, “come on, let’s snag something to drink.”
You trail her and she pops open the lid. You glance around at the other two guests huddled in the shade of a tree. The woman has red hair in a bob and the man has greying hair and a goatee. Neither seem very interested in the host and keep their voices low. The energy is strange.
“Soda only,” Bucky calls across the yard.
Namoi grimaces and sends you a look, mouthing ‘dick’ before she snatches out two diet Cokes and hands you one. You accept it without complaint and go with her to the loungers by the pool. She pushes in the tab of her can and pulls down her sunglasses.
“Don’t know why he asked us to come if he’s just going to be an old prick,” she growls.
“It’s fine, we don’t need to drink, do we?” You look down at the condensation as it pebbles on the silver can.
“It would be fun. Especially if we’re gonna be surrounded by these geezers,” she takes a loud slurp and gulps harshly.
“Yeah, I guess–”
“Steve!” The man that stands with Bucky, Sam, hollers and you look up. Huh?
Your chest constricts as you see the familiar golden locks, swept away from the chiseled face, and that contrived smile. Steve walks arm in arm with a woman with wavy strawberry blonde hair. Her eyes are even brighter than his. You frown.
“What–” Naomi notices your sudden chagrin and looks over her shoulder, “oh, that’s just Steve. He’s my dad’s friend. And business partner. They hate each other.”
“Who’s that woman?” You breathe.
“Oh, Wanda. She’s gorgeous, isn’t she? That’s his wife.”
“Wife?” You cough and fan yourself, “what?”
“Do you know them?” She glances at you with intrigue.
“Nay…” You stand abruptly and leave the unopened can on the seat.
You keep your head down and march across the yard, onto the deck. You move around the table beneath the unfolded umbrella, trying to hide in the shadow. She catches up with you in a clamour.
“What is it?” She keeps her voice low, a rare moment of discretion.
“That’s the… that’s–” you can barely find the words, “he’s dating my mom.”
“Your mom? What?” She says a bit too loud, “bull– oh my god,” she stops as she stares at you, “you’re serious?”
“I wouldn’t make it up,” you snap, “Naomi,” you give her a pointed look, “what the fuck?”
“Oh ho ho, that’s amazing,” she cackles, “your bitch mom deserves that.”
“She’s still my mom.”
“Wait, wait, wait,” she raises a finger, “does she knows about Wanda though?”
“What do you– of course she doesn’t.”
“Well, they have an arrangement. It’s fun. She’s…incredible. Anyway, you know, maybe–”
“She said they were engaged,” you hiss, “so… I don’t think she knows.”
“Huh?” She hums and takes a drink of her soda, “I love it. It’s… dramatic.”
"I gotta go," you say and try to sidle around the table. Naomi blocks you in, "please, I can't–"
"Why? You shouldn't be embarrassed about his bad behaviour."
"Yeah, but–"
"Fuck him. Let's have fun, just you and me," she pleads, "you can't leave me here."
"I… Let's just stay in your room."
"Ugh, please, Steve is a bitch boy. Don't even worry about him," she spits, "me and you, we're going to vibe. That's it."
You pout. Your skin is scalding and your thoughts whirring wildly. What do you do? She's right, Steve's wrong, not you. He always has been but now your mom might just believe you.
"Fine, I'll stay," you relent, "but you have to help me."
"With what?" She wonders.
"I need a picture of them. To show my mom," you sniff, "so she dumps his ass."
"Ahaha, I love it," she reaches to play with the strap of your dress, "you're sexy when you're mad."
You send her a look. She blows you an air kiss and takes your hand. "I got photos you can have. Wanda and Steve. Me and Steve. Me and Wanda–"
"What?" You gasp as she drags you to the steps.
"Oh yeah, like I said, they have an arrangement."
Your lips part. Jesus. You are way out of your element.
As you come down the stairs, your eyes meet Bucky’s. He quickly tears them away and flips some patties on the grill. You don't know what's going on there.
You're caught in the gaze of another before you can look away. The recognition in Steve's face pales his skin. His throat bobs and he leans over to whisper to his companion; his wife. He untangles himself from her and you tug on Naomi.
"Fuck, shit, no," you curse under your breath, "he saw me."
"Tell him to fuck off," she lets you got and toys with the tab on her can.
"Hey," Steve's voice pierces your wall of obscurity and you cringe as he approaches.
"Look, she's not interested, fuck boy," Naomi turns and plants herself between you and him, "unless you want everyone here to know you're fucking her mom."
"Nice to see you too, Mimi," he greets, "I just was saying hi–"
"Say hi to her mother," Naomi retorts, "she and Wanda must be excited to be future sister wives. I didn't know you were Mormon–"
"Fuck off," Steve lowers his voice dangerously, "and mind your own business."
Naomi laughs, "oh, baby, are you scared?"
"You know Wanda doesn't car where I put my dick. Wish she had stopped me from putting it in you–"
You turn on your heel and walk away, sickened by their argument. That's the Steve you know. Amiable on the outside but hidden just beneath the skin is a despicable man.
Your skin buzzes and your insides burn. Just his voice has you alight with revulsion. Your head tickles meanly as you try to sort through the sudden haze. What happened that night? What did he lie about?
Your chest is heavy and locked up. Your body isn't obeying you. When did all these people get here?
"Hey, hey, wait," Naomi calls, "slow down. Where are you going–"
"Keep him away from me," you puff, "I can't–"
"Sure, sure, hey, what's going on?"
You meet her eye, desperate twitch in your lip, "I don't know."
"Well, it's no problem. Won't be the first time I popped Steve."
"Please, don't… pop him," you plead.
"If you insist," she turns to squint in his direction, "but I'm ready."
You could laugh at her determination. It's almost flattering. She faves you again and squeezes your hand.
"Never fear, I'll figure out how to get is some drinks," she avows, "oh, you should meet Sam, too. You'll like him."
"Uh, sure," you shrug, "so…" you let her pull you around the pool, "you like Sam?"
"What's not to like?" She giggles, "dad would kill me but that makes it even more delicious."
You let the weight off your heart and cling to Naomi. She might be a disaster but dammit if she isn't fearless. You admire the way she can just barrel through any obstacle withoit a second thought.
You wish you could be more like her, yet you suspect that part of her wasn't bought easily. The more you learn about her, the more you understand her. She's not really treated like a child and it doesn't seem she ever was.
⛱️
It's not a surprise. You thought Naomi was keeping pace with your deliberate nursing of the vodka cooler. Somehow, somewhere through the night, she'd got ahead of you.
You wonder if it was when she'd been dancing with Natasha, the woman with the wine red hair, or when she was shamelessly flirting with Sam. It hardly matters now she's clumsily traipsing around the pool, teetering dangerously close to the edge.
You tug her away and sit her on a lounge chair. The night has worn to darkness, the patio lights limning the figures as the continue to chatter beneath the drone of music. There's a lot more people than you can keep track of.
"Nay," you hiccup, only then realising how you're really not that far off from her, "chill out."
She bats her lashes at you and all at once has her hands on your cheeks. She pulls out into a sloppy kiss and you stagger before falling onto her. She rolls you with her as her tongue delves into your mouth. For a moment, you think of succumbing to the affection but the whistle nearby reminds you of your audience.
The thought flits away as you pull back and struggle to stand. You can't explain it and you don't think you can. Not in your state.
"You're so sexy," she babbles.
You hush her and wrap an arm around her waist, hauling her up to her feet.
"Let's get you to bed," you coax.
"You're coming with me?"
"Uh, maybe," you find it hard to support both of you.
"Hey, need some help?" Steve asks as he nears.
"Get the fuck away, dirty dick!" Naomi lashes out.
You quickly drag her past him and don't look back. You scramble up the stairs, uneasy and unsteady. You're dizzy and tired and you just want to get Naomi in her room so you can crash.
You take her down the hall and to her door. You angle her inside. Her bed is still swamped with clothing but you don't care. She laughs as she lands on her back and you heave.
"Come on," she writhes as she tries to push down her bottoms, "let's have fun."
"Naomi, please," you say past the heat blazing in your cheeks, "get on your–" you roll her over, "stomach."
"You're so good to me," she turns her fave out, "no one takes care of me. Not like you, honey."
"Naomi, you need to sleep."
"Sleep with me," she begs as she grabs at you.
"Uh, let me get some water, okay?" You dodge her hand. "I'll be back."
You back out, hoping she'll pass out before you return. You wander out to the kitchen and clumsily shuffle around. You manage to find a tall glass and fill it from the fridge filter.
You spill a few drops as you head down the hall. You get to Naomi's room and hear her snoring. You take a gulp of water and leave it on her night table.
You retreat and shut her door behind you. You go to the guest room and open the door, yawning as your vision turns bleary. You nearly scream as you find naked bodies writhing in the bed.
The strangers don't notice you. You recognise Nat's red hair as she buries her head between the other woman's legs. You quickly depart, careful not to slam the door.
Shit. Maybe you should just crash in Naomo's room. Before you can cross the hall, a shadow looms at the other end and you turn to face it. Your name gristles in the air and you freeze.
You just want to sleep.

Chapter 1 Chapter 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I can’t do this,” You groaned looking down at the few sketches you’ve managed to produce since you refused to step foot back into the hockey arena again. You could feel the pit you were falling into already growing, and it was all because of a certain fluffy haired, sea-blue eyed hockey player.
“You can do this and you will do this darling,” Loki drawled out as he spoke with a hint of annoyance. He was laying down with his leg dangled off the side of the fountain in the student commons, an open area full of windows and natural light. His other leg was propped up and bent at the knee which you were using as a back rest. You side eyed him begrudgingly.
“This is awful,” you leaned your head back against his knee.
“Well don’t look now, but awful just entered the commons,” you followed Loki’s gaze and noticed Barnes and a couple of the other players entering the area. A couple girls were making their way over to them as they placed their bags down and sat at a bar table. Barnes' eyes swept the commons and caught your gaze, he stopped and squinted and you looked down instantly.
He nudged Wilson with his elbow, who made an annoyed noise, “what Bucky?” Bucky tipped his chin in your direction, Wilson’s eyes followed and he stared for a couple seconds. “Wait, is that the girl from the rink?” Bucky nodded, thinking the same thing. He couldn’t get your eyes out of his head, they were so expressive from the few glimpses he had of them. “She’s hanging out with Odinson’s brother,” the younger Odinson was usually present at the parties his brother threw but rarely participated in anything. Usually hiding away in a corner or in his room reading.
“I think so,” Bucky stood and threw his bag over his shoulder.
“Where are you going?” Wilson hissed.
“To say hello,” Bucky gave him his dazzling smile.
Loki noticed Barnes coming toward you two before you did, your head was down as you focused on the drawing you were working on, “trouble is heading our direction,” Loki said lowly, you looked up without lifting your head and saw Barnes striding in your direction. You swallowed thickly and kept your head down, he might just be walking in this direction for another reason. He couldn’t pick you out in a crowd, impossible, he only saw you twice.
“Excuse me,” your dreams were dashed as you saw the toes of his shoes and his frame created a shadow over your sketchbook. “I couldn’t help but notice you were at the rink a week ago,” he said, “and I know every pretty girl that hangs out there, can’t say I know you,” he said with an air of arrogance. You scoffed at him, side eyeing Loki who had his book covering his mouth, but you could feel the slight tremble from his contained amusement.
“I think you’re mistaken,” you said in a hushed tone.
“I don’t think so, you have the same hair and,” his hand snatched the sketch book from you. “Sketch book,” you jumped startled at the sudden invasion of privacy.
“Hey give that back,” you snapped harshly. Reaching to take the book back, he kept it from your reach easily. You stood now and pushed his outstretched hand out of the way to grab the book from his other hand. Your chest pressed up against his as you reached desperately for the sketchbook. “I said give it back.”
“Ah baby, don’t be like that,” your nose scrunched up and you narrowed your eyes at him, he had a playful expression on his face and his eyes were gleaming with mischief as he gazed down at you.
“I’m not your baby,” you said sternly. “And give me my sketchbook back please, now.” You seethed. His eyes flicked to you for a moment before flicking to the open drawing.
“You know that certainly looks like me, I know I have admirers. But no one has ever drawn me,” he mused as he continued to keep the book from your grasp. You looked at Loki who was already sitting up and standing.
“Give it back to her Barnes,” Loki's tone was tense, and stern. “She asked you nicely.”
Barnes' eyes snapped from the book to Loki in an instant and he turned to fully face Loki. They stood at the same height, but Barnes was stockier. “What are you gonna do about it Odinson,” Barnes taunted.
“Don’t be a child. You wouldn’t want to cause a scene,” Loki said in a tone with underlying intent. “You don’t need the coach to hear about another incident,” Loki said knowingly. You watched the tense exchange between the two men with wide eyes, the tension palpable. A few more tense seconds and Barnes relented, lifting his hands up in mock surrender.
“Whatever prick,” Barnes spat at Loki. “You ever want to have some real fun, you know where to find me sugar” he winked  and handed the sketch book to Loki and looked at you once more, his eyes roving over your body. Your eyes widened at his choice of words, taken slightly back by how hostile he became when Loki intervened.
Loki handed you back your sketchbook before putting a hand on your back and leading you the opposite direction of Barnes, you looked over your shoulder quickly before picking up the pace to match Loki.
Once sufficiently far away from the commons you stopped and looked up at Loki.
“What was that?” You asked. You know Loki knew Bucky, hell you’d seen him at Thor’s parties before. Usually you would be in Loki's room with him when you attended them, disliking them as much as he did.
“Barnes being Barnes,” Loki said with a slightly annoyed tone. “He’s got a rap sheet. One more complaint or misbehavior and he’s benched for the rest of the season,” Loki stated. “That doesn’t look great for an NHL prospect.” You nodded as you listened to him speak.
“Thank you,” you said softly as you hugged your sketch pad to your chest.
“It’s no problem darling,” he said back sweetly. “Now, you need to get back to the rink and get your project together.” You huffed and groaned.
“You had to ruin it,” you whined and threw your head back. “I’ll go with Nat to the next practice,” you relented and stared up at Loki.
Loki smiled and patted the top of your head “perfect darling.” You glared at him for a moment before shaking your head.
Tumblr media
~The next day~
You sighed as Nat dragged you to the rink, making sure you had the appropriate clothing on this time so you couldn’t duck out randomly.
“This is the worst,” you groaned as you sunk into the hard plastic seats and covered your face with your hands.
“Stop whining, it’s fine,” Nat sat next to you and smiled at Clint who skated up to the glass. He waved at her and you before skating backwards, showing off. Nat was like a giggly school girl as she watched him. You rolled your eyes and smirked at her.
You propped your sketch pad on the arm of the seat and hunched over to draw. Your eyes trained on the skates as the players drifted by. The movement of the blades over the ice was incredible. You had stayed up and researched how the skating part actually worked, “Nat? Did you know the reason they glide like that?” You said absently as you focused on the sketch you're doing. She hummed in acknowledgment, “the blade of skate melts a very thin layer of the surface ice and they glide on the water from the melt,” you muttered.
“Interesting, no I didn’t,” Nat said back as she watched her man snipe a puck into the net. You were watching as well, sketching the stick as he flicked it effortlessly and the puck soaring through the air. Silence fell over you two once again as you focused on the paper before you.
That silence was quickly ruined by someone slamming into the boards in front of you and you yelped in surprise. You squinted at the body in front of you and then glared at him. Barnes. He was saying something but you couldn’t quite hear him, pointing to your ear and then shrugging to indicate you couldn’t hear him. He made some obscene gestures before skating away. You rolled your eyes and went back to drawing once again.
Then someone else banged on the glass making it shake. You looked up and glared, but this time it wasn’t Barnes, his teammate, “Wilson,” Nat said as you stared at him.
Wilson was pointing toward the center of the rink where Barnes was skating effortlessly, moving beautifully on the ice. He moved the puck back and forth quickly causing the defenceman to stumble and he scored on the net. He lifted his hand up in the air and spun on one foot. He pointed his gloved hands at you, you rolled your eyes in response.
As much as you hated to admit it, Barnes' movement was too captivating to not want to draw. “He might be a prick, but damn he can skate,” Nat voiced your thoughts.
“He’s handsome too,” you regretted the words the second they spilled out. Nat turned her head and raised her brow at you, a sly smile on her lips. “No, I don’t mean I think he’s handsome. He’s just you know, got that natural handsomeness to him,” you stammered. “Oh god, I’m making it worse,” you buried your face in your hands. Nat laughed a deep bellied laugh while patting your shoulder.
“No, you’re right. He’s handsome. And he knows it. That makes it worse,” Nat said, her tone a little sour. You nodded in agreement, he then flew past you two, you both rolled your eyes.
Practice ended and you followed Nat to the wait for Clint. She asked you to join them for pizza after practice. Standing in a hallway that leads to the locker room you were showing her what you drew that night.
“Ah, my number one admirer,” his voice rang out, you wanted the floor to swallow you whole. “Did you get my good side,” he asked. You rolled your eyes at him for what felt like the millionth time tonight.
“You only have good sides,” a whiny voice said and you cringed. Nat mirroring your expression but being much more subtle you’re sure.
“Hey babe,” Clint said as he wrapped his arm around Nat and kissed her temple. “Barnes,” he tipped his head toward his teammate.
“Barton,” Barnes said back, “you gonna introduce me to your friend?”
“Uh, she’s Nat's friend,” Clint said.
You shook your head and dismissed Clint with a smile.
“My name is…”
“I like Bunny,” Barnes cut you off suddenly. “I don’t do names for pretty ladies,” he stated. The girl hanging off his arm made a disgruntled noise and looked taken back by his open flirtation while she was right there. You felt a little bad for her.
“Nuh uh, I’m not one of those puck bunnies,” your eyes flicked to the girl hanging off his arm apologetically.
“Never said you were Sketch,” you scrunch your nose at the nickname.
“Original,” you sassed.
“I’ll figure one out,” he affirmed, you crossed your arms over your chest and shook your head.
“God you’re insufferable,” you muttered, glowering at him.
Tumblr media
“Is he always like that?” You asked as you sat down across from Nat and Clint in the booth at the pizza place. It was a local spot, well loved by the students that populated the town.
“Barnes?” Clint as he took a bite of his pizza, you nodded.
“Yeah, he’s all talk. He’s practically harmless,” you raised an eyebrow at Clint. “Off the ice, he’s hell on it.” You nodded. “So what’s the project you’re working on?” He asked.
“Movement, human movement. My art prof has a vendetta against me so I’m trying to go outside the box. Pietro offered to let me do the project on him at the track. But Prof. Grace would just say I made the safe choice,” I groaned. “And football season is over so I couldn’t do it on Thor.” Clint was familiar with Peitro and Wanda since they hung around Nat, same as Thor since the sports teams tended to run in the same circles outside games.
“Right, your roommates,” he nodded. You lived with Wanda and Pietro since the start of university, being you were good friends with them. You had met Nat your first year and subsequently met Clint when they started dated that same year. “You’re friends with Thor's brother aren’t you?” You nodded and smiled.
“Yeah, best friends since middle school,” you nodded. “So by extension I’ve known Thor and Hela since then as well,” you added afterwards.
“Why did you pick hockey?” You shrugged.
“Nat suggested I come and watch a practice. You guys move so fluidly on the ice it was easy to draw,” you answered simply, eating another piece of pizza. “And frustratingly Barnes is incredibly talented and moves beautifully, I might have to ask him if I can make him my focus,” you groaned and rubbed your temples. “But he’s insufferable.”
Clint let out a loud laugh at that and nodded, “he can be. He’s honestly not that bad once you can get past the jock personality.” You rolled your eyes.
“That’s like saying cocaine isn’t bad once you get past the cocaine,” you laughed. “I’m pretty sure the jock personality is just him.”
“Eh, he’s cocky, but he’s earned it. He’s pretty damn good,” Clint said.
The rest of the evening passed quickly as conversation drifted from the brunette that had been clouding your thoughts.
“Thanks for the lift,” you waved as Clint and Nat drove away. You quickly climbed the steps to your flat and entered.
“Wanda, Pietro?” You called as you dropped your keys in the bowl at the entrance.
“Living room princessa,” Pietro called sweetly.
“What’s you guys watching?” You asked as you walked into the living, stripping your jacket off.
“Silent hill,” Wanda answered.
“The one with Kit Harington?” She nodded, you smiled and joined them on the couch.
“How was practice?” Wanda asked softly.
“It was good, I’m going to ask Barnes if I make him the focus. And I think a bullet in the thigh would be easier to deal with than him,” you sighed leaning your head back against the couch. “I was considering asking Loki to come with me when I asked him. But I don’t think that’s a good idea anymore,” you muttered.
“Why's that?” Pietro asked.
“They seem to have some kinda beef,” you shrugged. “He wouldn’t get into it,” you said. “Bucky’s a player, Loki isn’t a fan of that. And he’s been around him at parties. He’s apparently one incident away from being benched for the season.” Pietro seemed to nod knowingly.
“I’m not surprised, he’s a bit hot headed. Gotten into a few fights with people. Usually with good intentions though. Seen him knock a dude out flat on his ass for trying to drug a girl at a party. He also tends to back-talk instructors,” Pietro said. “He doesn’t seem like a bad dude. A little cocky and a bit of a flirt. Seems harmless enough.” You nodded at Pietro’s explanation and watched the rest of the movie with them in silence.
You texted Loki to ask why he didn’t like Bucky. Curiosity getting the better of you. His answer came back in a couple short paragraphs.
He seems like trouble.
Like he can’t be stable for one week.
He looks down on the arts pretty openly as well. Well at least English.
And he was rude to Helena as well a couple times.
You nodded as you read the series of texts. Loki was pretty traditional and he was never a fan of bouncing from one girl to another. Bucky was very open about doing that.
He also gets pretty obnoxious at parties.
He’s had a few scandals as well. Skipping out on one girl to be with another. Bit of a womanizer.
Why?
You quickly typed back you were curious because he was mostly likely going to be the focus for your project.
I figured he would. Guys a prick but he’s good at what he does.
Everyone said that. From what you’ve seen he was pretty good at hockey, not that you could judge that very well. But there was more to life than a sport. You typed a quick thanks back and wished Loki a goodnight.
Wanda and Pietro both went to bed and you stayed curled up on the couch. You decided to do some research yourself. Typing Bucky’s name into the search engine, his stats came up, and few hockey related awards he’s won. Some articles about how good of a prospect he was. His draft position whatever that meant. Him and Steve were drafted together from what you could tell.
Then you saw a Reddit thread from your school's Reddit talking about him, the fights he’s been in, his lack of care for academics and some people fighting about him being their boyfriend and how he was a cheating piece of shit. He apparently got into an altercation with someone on the Polo team and he and the captain of your school's rival hockey team got into a pretty bad fight after a game last year.
Your eyes widened as you read about the fight Pietro mentioned, he was lucky the guy's family didn’t press charges from how badly Bucky beat him. Part of you knew that behavior wasn’t acceptable, but a smaller needy part of you found it insanely hot how far he went to protect the girl the dude tried to drug. You shook your head and closed the search and went to bed. You would ask him tomorrow after practice, which Nat was dragging you too again.

Last Thursday.
Learning how to draw, when he already knows how to draw, makes Steve feel bad at drawing.
Sitting in the lecture hall of the art school, he doodles over the half-assed notes he manages to take during the first thirty minutes of class. Usually, he loves Drawing 101; it’s his easiest, only late-night class each week and one of the only times he can relax without worrying about one of the brothers barging in with another stupid homework question. Usually, it's just him, his earbuds turned up a touch too high, and whatever subjects the instructor places in front of him. On Thursday nights, nothing stands between him, an easel, and two straight hours of sketching pots and people.
Except when a said-Thursday night happens to fall on ‘mandatory lecture’ day.
It hasn’t been an hour when Steve gives up trying to force himself to focus, instead choosing to mindlessly doodle over and around the page. The Drawing 101 guest professor continues to drone on about different types of graphite in the pencils kits Steve and twenty-odd other kids in the course were forced to buy. Steve doesn’t understand– nor does he particularly give a shit– as to why a 3H pencil is better over a 3B pencil, or how using an 8B pencil isn’t preferred over a 7B pencil.
A pencil is a fucking pencil.
Steve sighs, failing to stifle a yawn. No amount of coffee– not even the triple espresso concoction his barista had him try earlier that day– could save him from falling asleep in this godforsaken, decades-old room with dimmed lights and sporadically-filled seats scattered amongst the vast sea of empty ones. Honestly, nobody ever came to monthly lectures, save for when their usual professor mentioned the material would be part of their written midterms. Guest lecturers result in a lesser turnout, too, and Steve partially wishes he’d chosen to spend it back at the café or in the library. As the professor continues on to the next type of pencil, the double doors at the back of the room creak open. Still dazed in a bored stupor, Steve cranes his neck over his shoulder to see which unlucky bastard is almost an hour late to the snoozefest.
He immediately wakes up, shooting up in his seat as if a bucket of ice water were splashed on him. He can’t believe what he sees: it’s her. Her. His barista.
Mouth agape, he stares as she slowly closes the doors, careful not to draw too much attention to her late arrival. When nobody bothers to acknowledge her, she makes her way down the carpeted steps of the lecture hall in search of refuge in an empty seat. Her eyes dart across the aisles, desperate for just one, inconspicuous place that will draw the least attention.
As she combs the rows with a furrowed brow and bottom lip slipping adorably between her teeth, Steve realizes he’s got some sort of a chance. Eyes dart to the professor, then back to her. Steve subtly raises a hand, waving to get her attention. Locking eyes, she finally sees him. Relief and surprise replace her bitten lip with a beaming smile. Steve’s heart soars, skipping far more than several beats. He doesn’t– he can’t– take his eyes off her as she quickly shuffles through the row of seats, plopping down next to him and dropping a tote bag at her feet. She pulls out a purple notebook and pen, slouching back into her seat with a relieved sigh, knee brushing gently against Steve’s. A ghost of the sweetest-smelling perfume drifts into his nostrils and he has the urge to replace his oxygen supply with it.
Steve feels like he’s dreaming. Cloud nine, light as a feather, the whole fucking nine yards. He skims over her features in the dim light of the lecture hall– the curve of her lips as she whispers to herself, flipping through the pages of her notebook, trying to find a blank spot; her eyelashes that flick up and down as she copies down the date and class number. He trails down her neck, crossing over the gold bar necklace she wears every day, to her shoulders and arms, her hands. When his eyes drift back up to her face, she’s staring back. Heat blooms in his cheeks and nerves constrict his chest in embarrassment. She smirks, shaking her head and turning her attention to the professor’s current ramblings on B and HB pencils. Steve opens his mouth to speak but quickly shuts it.
What would he even say? How would he get away with trying to talk to her in the middle of the lecture? The professor would hear him, he’d get called out, everyone would see him–
She huffs, turning to another blank notebook page. Steve side-eyes her as she quietly tears the page out and scribbles something on the first line. Side-eyeing Steve, a small smile pulls at the corners of her lips as she discreetly slides the paper over to him.
hi stranger.
Steve can’t help but grin. It spills across his lips as more heat blooms, trailing up his ears and down his neck. Trying not to seem too eager, he clicks his own pen and scrawls a response. The professor’s voice fades into background noise, going through one ear and out the other. He’s a goner and so is Steve.
YOURE THE STRANGER, STRANGER
He slides the paper back to her. She scoffs a laugh, smile growing wider.
last minute class drop + switch. u know how it is.
TRUE. DIDNT KNOW YOU WERE AN ART KID
She shakes her head, quickly scribbling when Steve cocks his head, mouthing a ‘what?’
film kid. have to take art class for credit. only one available.
Steve’s surprised at her response, nodding once he thinks it over. It makes sense.
She makes sense.
It fits her. It fits the way she moves, the way she carries herself, the ease in which she comes up with witty comebacks. It’s then and there Steve really thinks about the contrast between the two of them– the way he’s perceived versus how he perceives her. He’s a frat brother, a six-foot-two guy with muscles he doesn’t know how to use yet, and a lifelong artist who doesn’t fit in– no matter how much he tries to claw and fight his way out of the hole people dig and throw him in.
If anything, he doesn’t make sense.
Brow furrowing and jaw set, Steve’s caught in the downward spiral he’s been fighting to keep at bay since coming to Richards– since he pledged his life away to Sigma Theta Beta and the never-ending identity crisis the brothers force upon him every waking moment. But, it’s with her that he feels more like himself than anywhere else in the goddamned world. It’s with her he wants to– willingly– be himself. He wants to be himself with her.
He, however, doesn’t realize the hack job he’s performing on his poor cheek tissue until a soft hand covers his, squeezing lightly. Warmth spreads like wildfire across Steve’s skin, breaking him free and bringing him back to the real world. Concern veils over his barista’s expression; her soft, searching gaze jumps between his baby blues.
‘You okay?’ she mouths, studying him, hand still on his. Her brow twitches upwards when he still doesn’t respond. Steve holds up an index finger and goes back to responding on the paper.
SORRY. LOT ON MY MIND
She nods heavily in agreement.
same. pencildick up there is putting me to sleep. how do you even do it?
Steve bites a laugh back.
DRAWING, COUNTING THE CLOCK
Before she takes it back Steve adds,
AND NOW YOU.
Her smile is bright enough to light up the darkened lecture hall.
Tumblr media
Two whole pages are filled by the time class lets out. Front and back.
Steve allows his barista to take the lead in following other students out of the lecture hall. Buzzing conversations reveal a shared eagerness to get the hell out of there and go spend the rest of their Thursday night doing something else more worthy of their precious time. Steve slings his bag over his shoulder as he follows close behind, verbally continuing their written conversation about her shift from earlier in the day and swapping ridiculous ways on how they’ll manage to work every type of pencil into their midterm.
As he plods next to her, Steve fights an innate urge to place a light hand on her lower back to guide her out on their way to the parking lot. Instead, he gets the door, jokingly half-bowing with an outstretched arm to the second set of double doors. Continuing out of the building, Steve takes a breath, deciding now is the perfect time to ask if she’s busy tonight. Instead, though, she stops abruptly. Steve runs directly into her, arms jutting out instinctively to steady both of them out of sheer instinct. Grabbing her shoulders, she spins around to face him, closer to his chest than either realized.
Steve feels his ears turn red again. She looks up at him, blinking before taking a step back, lips parting slightly. An awkward beat hangs in the air before Steve clears his throat and rubs his neck.
"You, uh,” he swallows, preparing himself for the inevitable, “You maybe wanna go grab a bite t’eat, or somethin’?"
Her eyes widen, lips twitching at the corners. She looks like she’s about to answer before quickly realizing something, as if internally scolding herself for even looking excited. Pressing her lips together, her eyes dart back to her phone.
"Shit, I–" she quickly types a response and shoves it back in her pocket, exhaling in frustration.
"What is it?"
"I would love to, Steve. I really would, but," she closes her eyes and sighs, "I can't. My sisters need me back at the house. They said it’s an ‘emergency.’" She adds sarcastic air quotes, rolling her eyes.
"Oh!” Relief fills Steve’s chest, thankful she’s not purposefully blowing him off with some shitty excuse. “Okay, no yeah, I–I totally get it, family can be-"
She smiles softly, shaking her head and taking his hand to run a thumb over his knuckles. The gesture is so casual, so soft, yet it sends goosebumps up Steve’s arm.
"Oh, no. No, they're not my actual sisters. They're, um, my sorority sisters." She flinches as 'sorority' leaves her lips.
Steve blanches, swallowing a disbelieving laugh. He can't help the lopsided smile spreading across his face. He can’t help taking both her hands in his and holding them in excitement. The odds of it– all of it– all the things, of all the people, she’s the one to make him feel less alone. She’s the one that understands everything.
He tries, and fails, to contain his excitement.
"No, I– I completely get it. My frat brothers are insufferable and I'm the newest pledge, so–"
It’s her turn to blanche. "You? You’re a new pledge, too?"
"Yeah, I, uh, I’m required by my scholarship–"
"Oh thank God it's not just me!"
"There's one for sisters, too?" Steve gawks. He’s truly in shock at the audacity of Richards to make any student required to endure the circle of Hell that is Greek life. He squeezes her hands. She matches him.
"Of course there is, meathead,” she snorts. “Title nine, or whatever the hell."
Steve nods. "I can’t tell you how glad I am not to be alone in this. It's fucked up, but maybe not as much now that I know you're in the same boat as me."
He pulls her ever-so-slightly closer. She lets him.
"Guess that makes you the Jack to my Rose."
Steve furrows his bro, cocking his head like a confused puppy.
"Oh God– Don't tell me you've never seen Titanic," she gasps, feigning offense and sending Steve off course, thinking he’s fucked up somehow.
Sarcasm isn’t his strong suit.
"I, uh– no, not that I know of. I–I mean I've heard of the Titanic, but I don't remember the– well I know there's a movie, but I–"
She laughs, full and genuine, stepping forward as her hands leave his, placing one on his shoulder. Her touch is soft, gentle, more comforting than anything he’s ever felt.
"I'll show ya some time. Don't worry."
Squeezing his bicep, her fingertips glide down to his hand, grazing his fingers for the slightest moment before slipping between them, lacing them together. Electricity shoots up Steve's arm. Without another word she leads him out of the building, walking down the sidewalk lit by the moon rising overhead and scattered street lamps illuminating the parking lot.
Steve decides then and there he’ll go wherever she takes him. Anywhere. Everywhere.
She stops at the edge of the parking lot and turns to him. "This is where I leave ya, my car’s over yonder.” She nods to a blue sedan with a Richards sticker on the back windshield sitting underneath one of the street lamps. “Plus, I’d like to save you walkin’ me to my car for another night.”
Butterflies. Steve nods. She scoffs a laugh.
“Text me, meathead. I'll see ya tomorrow?"
“Tomorrow.”
She releases his hand in slow motion and Steve hopes she’s relishing every bit of physical contact with him as he is with her. He heads to his own car parked in the darker side of the lot under the shadows of the perimeter trees and dimmer lamps, swaying languidly and ambling across the pavement in a trance. Steve makes a note to himself: watch more movies, because he sure feels like he's in one.
The trance is broken when a split second of what sounds like a scream echoes over the lot and is snuffed out just as abruptly as it started.
Steve freezes, key halfway into unlocking the driver’s side door. Ears prick up, breath held firm in his chest. Turning over his shoulder, he gasps, startled as a blue car– her car– slowly backs out from under the streetlamp and exits onto the road casually. Steve watches it disappear from view. The sound of the engine gunning it down the road leaves Steve alone in the dark, a sick uneasiness pooling in his gut.
He gets in his car, tossing his bag into the passenger seat and pulling out his phone.
You okay? Did you hear that?
Steve turns the engine over and throws the car into drive, foot hard on the brake before checking her text back.
Hear what? I’m okay! :)
The uneasiness doesn’t leave him. She doesn’t usually text like that.
“Fuck, get a grip, Steve,” he mutters to himself, resting his head against the steering wheel. He takes a second to gather himself and calm his nerves. The paranoia he’s been trained to feel thanks to his brothers, in combination with the fear of fucking everything up with his barista tonight, must be mixing together and clashing against every active nerve in his body. He’s fine. She’s fine.
She’s obviously driving right now, of course she wouldn’t fucking text how she normally does. She’s probably using voice text. Calm. Down.
Steve sends another text before tossing his phone into the passenger’s seat, the unease refusing to dissipate. He turns on the radio, turning up the song blasting from the speakers in a sorry attempt to silence his racing thoughts.
No big deal. Get home safe.
His phone stays silent the rest of the night. It stays silent as he gets home, as he throws a bowl of ramen together, as he throws himself onto his bed and flips open his laptop to watch some random brainrot he finds on Netflix.
He nods off, letting himself be taken by exhaustion as the uneaten bowl of ramen sits on his desk, growing colder, while the dim computer light and hum of dialogue pull Steve further and further into a dreamless sleep.
His phone dies silently in his hand.

Tuesday, October 19
The late-night air feels crisp during the height of fall. Summer had faded away along with the memories of weekend trips with Peter dancing around in your mind. It had become easier to fall asleep while waiting by your windowsill for your masked hero, but never flawless. You look out of your window to see the gleaming lights of the city reflect back into your eyes. “Every light is another story, another life”, you think to yourself. Trying to distract yourself until Peter comes home is not easy, considering your eyes are threatening to close. You’re dozing off when you hear the groaning of the metal from the fire escape. Your eyes snap open at the familiar sound.
His gloved hand reaches for his dirty mask, the familiar shit-eating grin on his features, “Good Morning, sweetheart.” He’s being a smartass.
“Ha ha, you’re so funny,” you retort back. You back up from the window as he lets himself into your shared apartment. Your eyes dance across his familiar figure, and that is when you notice a limp in his step as he walks towards you. Turning on a light to confirm your speculations, your eyes lock onto a scarlet red footprint marking your wood floors. “Peter,” your voice comes out in a hushed whisper, “W-what happened?”
Peter turns, studying his own footprint marking the floors, he chuckles, “Nothing.” Your eyes flick from the mark on the floor back to where he stood, trying to figure out where the blood was coming from. Your gaze locks onto the torn flesh on the left side of his abdomen. Your eyes widen in shock. Rushing towards him, he frowns in defeat.
“This!” You point at his sides, “This is nothing?” You snap.
“It’s fine,” his voice comes out flat as he tries to brush past you.
Trying to reason with him, “In what world is this considered ‘fine’, Peter?” You continue to follow him around the room. Making occasional stops at the kitchen cabinets as you collect supplies to patch him up.
“In my world, this comes with the job! You wouldn’t understand, sweetheart.”
You stop in your tracks, as you digest the words he barked out.
He notices the sudden shift in your demeanor and takes a step towards you. You take a step back. “(Y/N), wait-”
“No, it’s fine,” You raise your hand in defeat, “Since I wouldn’t understand, I’ll leave you to it,” Shoving the supplies into his arms as you walk away. The deafening silence was almost too loud for him to bask in. He winces as he hears the bedroom door slam shut. He can’t move, paralyzed where he stands in the dimly lit kitchen. The thoughts of the moments prior swim around in his mind. A sharp stinging pain pulls him out of his transfixed state. He groans out of annoyance, along with his wound, the weight of his own words ignite a new pain in his chest.
In their dimly lit bedroom, your glimmering eyes reflect the same city lights you were distracting yourself with not even an hour prior. You’re thinking of the moments that led up to this pointless argument. Thinking back if the dispute was even worth it. Your mind is swallowed by the never-ending spiral of your own thoughts when a faint knock at the door pulls you from the abyss that is your mind. You rise from the comfort of the mattress albeit still smelling like last night's events.
Opening the door, you’re met with a pale-faced Peter, coated in a sheen layer of sweat. He’s leaning against the doorframe, clearly doubling in pain. He’s still wearing that stupid smirk, the same one he wore earlier. His eyes are half-open, lidded in exhaustion. Muttering a repeated ‘I’m sorry’ before his knees buckle and his broad frame collapses straight into your arms dropping the supplies at your feet.
Your knees wobble as the weight of your neighborhood Spider-Man nearly crushes you as you lug his unconscious frame towards your bed. Laying him on his back she reels away to assess the situation. Fuck…His suit’s still on. Trying to peel down his suit while he’s passed out is not an easy task. The suit sticking to his damp skin due to the dirt and sweat caked on from his outing earlier that night making it harder than needed.
You managed to get the suit lower than the injury still bleeding at his side. Quickly you stand, making your way to the abandoned items on the floor. Running them back to Peter as quickly as possible, your hands shake as you drop and sort the things on the bed beside him. You pour the rubbing alcohol onto a washcloth and carefully begin cleaning the perimeter of his wound. His body jolts under your working hands and a small hiss of pain is heard from his lips. His breath comes out as shallow gasps as you continue to work. You look up at him and his mouth is moving, but you can’t hear anything. Your gaze falls back onto the task at hand without hesitation, not knowing that Peter has been mumbling faint apologies this entire time.
There is more movement coming from him as you continue to work, catching your attention. “(Y/N), I’m sorry.”
Yet your hands don’t falter at the words, too zoned in on the task at hand. “We’ll talk about it later, just let me help you,” You whisper. The only noise gracing your ears are the sounds of his shallow breaths and the hammer of your own heart in your ears.
“(Y/N), I didn’t mean to snap I just-”
Tears begin to form on your lash line, “Peter please,” You beg, “Just let me help you right now.” You glance up at the man through your lashes, He frowns, but he continues to let you work as you finish cleaning the outside of the injury. You grab the small bottle of antibacterial salve, “It’s going to feel cold.”
Getting a small amount of the paste on your hand you slowly begin to rub it across the laceration. “Fuck,” He groans out of discomfort. You continue to work the remedy around the skin before grabbing the gauze and medical wrap.
You sniff and clear your throat before asking him, “C-can you sit up a little?” He slowly sits up and his muscles tense under your hands. After laying the gauze, you begin to wrap his abdomen. As you finish your work, that’s when you realize how close you two are.
Your breath hitches in your throat as you look up at him, finding his gaze already melting into yours. Both eyes not threatening to stray from one another, but actually doing the opposite. His gaze softened as a form of an unspoken apology.

18+ smutty drabble with some angst and all the fluff and possessive, fwb to lovers college Bucky, I wanted to try something, images are mine, Canva pulled through with the layout. Maybe I'll write something again with this picture, (mob Bucky? DBF Bucky?) but here's an idea:
-
"You up?"
You smirked at the text message that popped up, already swinging your legs out of bed because you knew exactly what was to follow-
"Come over"
You didn't bother changing out of the hoodie you were already lounging in, pulling on some shorts and throwing on Bucky's leather jacket before heading out. You pulled the jacket tighter around your body as you walked 2 blocks to his place, fiddling with the spare key he'd given you just because.
"Hey Steve, hey Sam" You gave Bucky's roommates/ bestfriends a wave as you let yourself in, padding past the living room, headed right to his room.
"Hey peanut" The blonde smiled before throwing a knowing smirk to Sam as soon as they heard the door click shut.
"$20 they keep this up for another month"
"Deal"
-
"Hey Buck-
"How come you didn't tell me you'd already left," Bucky set his laptop off to the side, his tight black tshirt riding up giving you a pretty view of his happy trail as he leaned over, closing the screen shut.
"You knew I was going to come-" You started with an eyeroll but Bucky wasn't having it, shaking his head while you looked at the knickknacks sitting on his desk.
"And I've told you to at least let me know when you leave, especially at night"
"When did you care so much" You snorted, gasping when he came up from behind you, turning you around and grasping your jaw in his hand, squeezing your cheeks, making you meet his eyes.
"You don't walk out alone at night. I would have called you an uber"
"It's two blocks-
"I don't care. So who were you all dressed up for earlier today" Bucky cocked at eyebrow, releasing the soft grip he had on your jaw, moving them to rest around your waist instead.
"I wasn't dressed up, it was a regular outfit"
"Please, that tiny black skirt with those stockings" His grip tightened, digging around your hips, "Saw you come by the field when we had practice, were you trying to show me something doll" He smirked, noting you were currently still in his leather jacket.
"I thought it looked cute, don't flatter yourself Barnes-
"That's Steve's sweater" Bucky cut you off narrowing his eyes, tugging the hem of the hoodie. You hadn't even noticed, giggling when you realized you had indeed somehow accidently ended up with Steve's sweater.
"I just wear whatever's comfy, must've gotten mixed up in your laundry last time I was here" You shrugged, tossing off his jacket onto the chair by the desk. "If it helps, it was your hoodie I intended to steal"
"You're not wearing his sweater" It was a statement, something other than lust clouding his thoughts, itching to rip the sweater off your body and keep you wrapped up in nothing else but him.
"Seriously? Why does it matter, I thought this was just casual anyway-
"Mine" Bucky growled, pulling the hoodie off your body and making a point of tossing it out of the room before locking it shut again. "You're mine"
"Bucky-
"Always teasing me with those fuckin' skirts" Bucky grabbed you, hauling you over his shoulder and tossing you over the bed before crawling on top of you and pinning you under him. You hadn't been wearing anything under the hoodie, gasping when Bucky tugged at your nipples, smirking as they pebbled at his touch. "Do you not see how other guys look at you when you wear that baby"
"Bucky please" You sounded needier than usual, caught off guard by his surge of possessiveness, different from his usual protective nature over you. He attacked your neck with kisses, sucking bruises onto them between soft bites, letting his tongue swipe over the area after.
"Tell me, lookit you laying in my bed as soon as I call, soo needy all just for me, huh?" His hands came to lace with yours, pressing his erection between your legs, grinding against your clothed core.
"Jamie, do something" You pouted, squeaking when he came down to nip your lips, getting off you just to throw your shorts and panties off, wasting no time ridding himself of his clothes. He slotted himself back between your legs, letting his thick length rest between your soaked cunt.
"Patience pretty bunny, you have no idea what you do to me, do you. Not sharing you with anyone, you're mine"
"I'm yours?" You whined feeling his cockhead swipe through your folds, gathering your slick, a flash of vulnerability passing between you as his eyes bore into yours.
"Always, babydoll" Bucky whispered with his lips brushing against your as he started to push in, the both of you gasping at the feeling of the initial stretch. It didn't matter how many times he'd already had you like this, the feeling was forever unmatched. He didn't bother with giving you a moment to adjust, setting a brutal pace as soon as he was fully sheathed inside you. He made of a point of making you scream as loud as possible, well aware his best friends were still home, working his hips faster at the thought of you in Steve's sweater.
"You're. All. Mine" Bucky slammed his cock into you with each word, hoping to write his name in cum all over the inside of your tight cunt. "Say it, tell me you're mine, c'mon baby"
"M'y-yours" You stuttered out, "I'm yours Bucky!!"
"That's right, gonna make you scream that all night"
-
And he kept his word. Bucky kept you impaled on his cock until he couldn't hold it any longer, spilling ropes of his load into you, one after the other. He would watch it drip out before getting hard again from the sight along, pushing his dick back into you to make sure not a drop was wasted.
You panted, withering under him as he pulled one more orgasm out of you before letting his bodyweight drop, his now disheveled locks and flushed cheeks resting against your bare chest.
"I meant it you know" He murmured, pressing a kiss between your breasts before looking up at you, "It's more than just physical for me"
"Are you sure?" You giggled as he leaned up to nudge his nose against yours with a shy smile he reserved just for you..
"Very sure. I love you" Bucky mumbled against you hair, pulling the sheets up to cover you both, his arms wrapped tightly around you body to his chest.
"I love you too"
"I also meant it when I said you can't wear his sweaters"
"Bucky-
"Mine"
-
"I want my $20"

A small knock on your dorm room door and another piece of paper slipped through the gap at the bottom of it. It wasn’t the first one you’ve gotten. It happened all the time, to be honest. Sometimes it was a note, saying something along the lines of ‘You look beautiful today’ or ‘You make me smile’. Sometimes it was little drawings, hasty sketches but laced with so much precision, you could really see the talent behind it. And they were all signed by ‘Grant’.
It was super sweet, but the problem was, you didn’t know a Grant.
The first time it had happened was a Friday, about two months ago. Wanda had picked up the paper on her way to the closet and handed it to you with a smirk.
“Wo’s Grant?” She had teased with excitement, thrilled to finally see you getting yourself out there again. But her face had fallen when you answered with an equally surprised look on your face. “I don’t know who Grant is.”
By now, you had gotten used to the little messages you received almost regularly, even missing them a little when ‘Grant’ had not sent you anything that day. It was exciting to figure out the mystery of your secret admirer, as Wanda had proclaimed, you wanted to know who it was. Who wouldn’t, right?
But you had no idea. And after another two weeks of Wanda obsessively searching for your secret messager, you slowly began to give up, just enjoying the little gifts and accepting the forever unknowing of this mystery. You made peace with it. And besides, it wasn’t like the people you wanted would want you back, anyway. There was this one cute guy in your elective class, Steve Rogers, but he was kind of ignoring you. And who would blame him, you’ve heard many people talk about how cute he was, he had plenty to choose from. The people you’ve seen him hang out with on campus were very hot, too. And super nice. But they never held anything more than small talk with you.
You weren’t very lucky when it came to relationships and dating. Which was why it was so nice to have those little messages passed under your door from time to time. It showed you that you weren’t totally undesirable. Which you weren’t. There had been one guy that had asked you out last semester but he was a total weirdo. And then there was A girl named Yelena, but she just disappeared halfway through the date - said there was an emergency, well, you knew what that meant.
So yeah, to say you were lost was an understatement. Which was why you resumed pining for the hunky blonde in your class that smiled at you from time to time. Today, you had said class again and after yet another uneventful lecture, your professor had asked each of his students to sign up for the fundraiser he organized this semester. And as you stood in line, someone suddenly tapped your shoulder.
“You dropped this.” You turned and came face to face with Steve who was holding a pen out to you. You were frozen for a second, just looking into his blue eyes and fighting not to get lost in them.
“Oh, thank you.”
“No worries.” He smiled and then looked away, almost shyly.
You turned back and made another step as the line in front of you got shorter. But your mind was racing, your hand clenching the pen in your hand as you thought about the tiny interaction with Steve. This was your chance, right? He was literally standing right behind you.
You turned around again. “Steve, right?”
A small smile snuck on his face, his eyebrows raising slightly, “Uh... yeah. And you’re Y/N, right?”
“Yeah... hey I don’t want to come off weird or anything, but would you maybe wanna grab a coffee with me?”
“Now?” He asked surprised.
You laughed nervously. “Well, preferably after we signed up. I’m not standing in this line for fun.”
Steve chuckled as he bit his lip and it was the prettiest thing you’d ever seen. “I would love to.”
Now you were smiling like an idiot as you turned around to hide the little fist bump in excitement. You would mess this up, this was your chance! You stood next to Steve as he leaned over the table to write on the sign-up sheet.
“Do you have a favorite coffee shop?”
“Stan’s place is nice,” you mumbled with your arms crossed, glancing over the way Steve carefully signed his name down.
“I’ve heard of it...” He said concentrating, but you were too distracted by the name he scribbled on the dotted line beneath yours.
Steven Grant Rogers
Could it be? Your heart began to race as you saw the way the G curved on the page. It was engraved into your memory by now. This was the ‘Grant’ you had been seeing for weeks, scribbled at the bottom of countless messages.
“Your..,” you began, but your throat felt dry. “Your middle name is Grant?” Your voice had done a weird squeaky thing at the end of your question, and when Steve stood up straight to look at you again, his smile faded.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah... I’m just a little surprised. I’ve been getting some messages lately.” You told him carefully. Curious as to what his reaction would be. It seemed as though Steve realized, at that moment, just what you had discovered. And to your surprise, the too-cool-for-you facade you had prescribed him fell off his body like a curtain. He was blushing, his hand immediately rubbing at his neck, but he couldn’t hide it anymore.
Quite frankly, you didn’t know what to do with the revelation. Secretly, you had wanted it to be Steve. But at the same time, the person you had crafted in your head with the help of the notes and drawings, didn’t match the man standing in front of you. It was confusing and exciting, and scary, and nice.
“Uhm, I guess there’s no use to pretend anymore, is there?” He asked embarrassed and your heart fluttered.
“I... I thought you never noticed me.”
Something hushed over his eyes then. It was gone as soon as it had come, but it made Steve look sad. “Never noticed you? You’re all I ever think about. I just didn’t know how to tell you...”
“Oh.” You smiled, willing your giddy heart to calm.
You were quiet for a moment, and Steve was fidgeting with his arms, trying to place them somewhere else. And when he finally settled on holding his elbows in front of his chest, his biceps bulging and drawing your attention, he spoke. “So, about that coffee,” he pressed his lips into a line nervously, “can we make it a date?”
You bit your lip while chuckling slightly. “I would love to.”

When You're Smiling- Prologue
Tumblr media
Pairing: College!Bucky Barnes x F!reader
Synopsis: Throughout your life you have been labeled "boring" because of your quiet, thoughtful nature. For example, you weren't a fan of parties, frats or really anything that required you to be around big groups of people. But after being dragged to a party, you meet someone who seems determined to prove that you have an adventurous side as well.
Chapter Warnings: panic attack, anxiety, drinking, sexual harassment
Word Count: 1.5k
Prologue
“Please Y/n. You don’t even have to stay for that long.” Sitting on the floor of your apartment, you continued to track your eyes over the pages of your textbook. You weren’t really retaining any information, you hadn’t been since your roommate Wanda barged in five minutes ago and began pestering you to go to a frat party with her.
“Seriously, a night out would be good for you. You don’t even have to talk to anyone, but at least leave this apartment. Honestly, it’s getting kinda sad that you just sit here with your books every night-”
“OK.” You cut off her somewhat offensive rambling by roughly slamming your psychology textbook shut. “If you are so concerned about my social life I will, for forty five minutes, go to this party.” Wanda squealed and threw her arms around you.
“Thank you, I promise once you get there you’ll have so much fun!” Your face remained neutral but inside your stomach was beginning to twist itself into a tight knot. There was a reason you didn’t really like parties, of course you wouldn’t judge your friends for going to as many as they could, they just weren't your scene. “-oh, I’m gonna call Nat, she can bring over some tops for you to try, let me grab my phone, I’ll be right back.” You didn’t realize you had zoned out long enough for Wanda to bring your other friend Natasha into the equation. When Wanda left the room you tried to distract yourself from spiraling by watching the rain dance against the window. This is “cozy romance novel reading” weather, not “get wasted with a bunch of randos” weather, you thought to yourself, but then instantly shook your head and brushed your glasses up to rub your eyes. Maybe you were in desperate need of a party. Or not. Because frat parties were the worst. The last one you were at was three years ago during your freshman year: you went in excited to try something new, and ended the night drenched in someone else’s beer, with tears running down your cheeks and mascara staining your face. You didn’t know who spilled beer on you, but the tears and mascara combination was courtesy of having to watch the guy you liked make out with not one, but three girls that night. To top it all off, one of your heels had snapped, forcing you to walk home in 30 degree weather with no shoes. So you weren’t a fan of frat parties, and maybe you shouldn’t base your judgements on one awful experience, but you had never been party type before and that night seemed like a sign from the universe confirming, “you and parties do NOT mix.”
Wanda’s hurried footsteps interrupted the mental storm that had been picking up speed over the time she was absent.
“Ok, Nat is on her way, and she’s bringing options for shirts, and I have this new pair of heels that would look so-”
“No. No heels, sorry Wan.” You said somewhat sheepishly. You hadn’t known Wanda yet when you went through the frat debacle a couple years ago and for some reason you had elected to withhold that story from your two closest friends. You weren’t sure why you hadn’t brought it up, maybe you figured they would stop trying to force you to party every weekend, or maybe they would insist you give it another try. The latter is what you were afraid of, and knowing Nat and Wanda, the former was not likely to happen.
Wanda gave you a curious look, but if she thought something was off she didn’t say anything. Instead, she ran to the door as a buzz sounded on the intercom.
_________________________________________
An hour later, you were dressed in a long sleeved open back top, baggy jeans, and a pair of well loved (extremely dirty) shoes. Wanda and Nat practically dragged you out of your apartment and down the street, laughing and talking animatedly all while you stayed quiet and counted the yellow taxis that rushed past you.
When the three of you finally made it to the party, an inky darkness had settled over the city. The grass beneath your feet was still damp from that afternoon’s rain and you couldn’t help but frown at how humid it had become, dreading how suffocating it was going to be inside the house.
“Do you wanna grab something to drink?” Nat yelled over the bass as you tried to squeeze through the crowded entryway. You were immediately overwhelmed, strobe lights were flashing against the walls, music was shaking the floor and hot, sweaty bodies kept bumping up against you. You closed your eyes in an attempt to somehow center yourself. After a few seconds of futilely waiting for a moment of peace, you let your eyelids flutter open and to your annoyance, Nat and Wanda were no longer standing beside you. You knew it wasn’t their fault, and that they would never intentionally leave you alone, but you couldn’t stop the panic that began rising in your chest from the absence of your two friends. Not knowing what else to do, you shouldered your way through the mass of drunk college students, searching for a quiet place to stand and look for Nat and Wanda. You had scouted out a small, unoccupied alcove under the stairs and made your way to it. Two steps and you would have gotten some reprieve from the chaos, but instead a tall body blocked your path and sharp brown eyes eyed you up and down.
“Haven’t seen you at one of these yet.” His voice was slightly slurred and the mix of alcohol and cheap cologne pouring off of him was almost nauseating. “You lookin’ for someone to spend a little time with?” He asked inching closer and forcing you to press your back against the railing of the staircase. Now your breath was coming much too quick and the familiar numbness sprouting in your fingertips told you that you were on the verge of having a panic attack. You’d been through enough over the past years to recognize when one was coming. You also knew that if you could’t find a calm place to ground yourself in the next few minutes you were going to break down. With your mind in panic mode, you glanced over your shoulder and saw that the staircase you were pinned against led to a seemingly quiet hall. Deciding that was your only option, you shoved the guy’s chest and used his sluggish, drunken state as an opportunity to escape his grasp and head towards the stairs. You jumped over the “Stay Downstairs or Thor Will Kick Your Ass” sign that was haphazardly strung across the bottom entryway and took the stairs two at a time to get to the hall. There were no lights on in the corridor, but the strobes from the party downstairs provided you with enough light to find a doorknob. You desperately pushed on the door, but it was locked, so you ran to the next one, only to find yourself in the same situation. You didn’t notice the faint glow under the third door you tried and you almost cried in relief when the knob turned without any resistance.
You hurried into the room and closed the door, pressing your back against the cool wood and shutting your eyes. Starting at 100, you took a deep breath and exhaled counting backwards by three in your head. In your anxious state, you barely noticed the tears that were rushing down your cheeks. And you really had not noticed that you weren’t alone in this room.
“Uh, is everything- are you ok?” A baritone voice caused your eyes to shoot open as you desperately tried to figure out its source through your blurred vision. Bringing your hands to your eyes you began to furiously wipe away the tears, ignoring the slight burning caused by the friction from your shirt against your skin.
“Hey, whoah, hold on, you're gonna hurt yourself.” The voice said again, this time with more urgency. Suddenly, a pair of warm hands wrapped carefully around your wrists, gently pulling your hands away from your face. You were able to blink back enough tears to make out a head of blonde hair, broad shoulders, and kind blue eyes. The man in front of you continued to coax you down from your panic, and slowly the tears stopped falling while your breaths evened out. As embarrassed as you were that this kind man had to witness your anxiety attack you were grateful for his help. But just as you began to offer your thanks the door was thrown open, and a deep voice shouted over the blaring music downstairs.
“Steve, what the hell are you doing locked away in your-” his words trailed off as his cerulean blue eyes landed on your tear stained face…
Chapter One coming this week!

series masterlist | au playlist | my masterlist | 1.5k sleepover Title is a lyric from the 1975's song I'm in Love With You
Tumblr media
I catch her eye from across the bar and find myself smirking into my beer. No matter where she is, no matter how many people are in the room, I always manage to find her. It’s like she fucking calls to me, a siren singing her beautiful song to lure me in.
Well fuck it, I don’t care if she’s a siren. I want her all to myself.
Some girl slides up next to me, getting way too close for comfort, and batts her long eyelashes at me. “You wanna buy me a drink?” She asks, tossing her hair over her shoulder. I can tell she bleaches it too much; it looks fried.
“Not really,” I reply, not caring to soften my tone for this girl. Maybe before I would’ve bought her one, maybe I would’ve entertained whatever this girl is trying to accomplish, but not anymore. Not since Becca’s gorgeous best friend turned my world upside down.
“You sure?” I feel the girl’s long, manicured fingers squeeze my arm, and I have to bite back the urge to tell her I’m taken. We’re not telling people yet. Neither of us are ready for the consequences of Becca finding out.
“He’s sure,” Steve says, patting me on the back. The girl rolls her eyes as Steve shoos her away, but I don’t bother watching her leave. My eyes are back on the only girl I want to see tonight and every night.
She smiles at me brightly before her friend snags her attention again. Steve orders us another round as I text her. I want her with me tonight; I don’t care where we end up. I just want us together.
Bucky: You got plans after this, pretty girl?
Boo Bear: hm… i’m not sure yet
Bucky: Boo Bear? Really?
Boo Bear: i’m surprised it took you this long to notice
Bucky: anyways, i’ve decided you have plans we’re going home together in 20 minutes.
Boo Bear: becca’s hanging out with ethan tonight, she said she won’t be home until after her class tomorrow morning
Bucky: perfect, see you in a few, boo bear
I try not to smile too hard at my phone, especially with Steve standing right next to me. He’s caught me practically kicking my feet while I text her way too many times. It’s becoming a problem at this point.
Steve and I shoot the shit for a bit, and I pay my tab, shooting off another text to my girl, letting her know to meet me across the street. A few minutes later, I see her exit the crowded bar. She looks fucking fantastic, good enough to eat. Her jeans are tight in all the right places, and her top shows off enough skin to make my mouth water.
I never get over how perfect she looks, no matter what she wears or where we are. I don’t know how I held off for so long; I’m addicted now.
“Hey, boo bear,” I whisper once she’s close enough. I tug her close and breathe her in, pressing a kiss to her neck.
“Hey, Buck.”
Tumblr media
The second the door shuts behind us, I’m on her. I press her against the wall, loving how soft she is against my body. Her hands grip my shirt, nails gently scraping against my chest. I kiss her deeply, tasting her.
“You’re gonna kill me, Buck,” she whispers, nipping at my lip. I dip my head, kissing along the soft skin of her neck as my hands trace down her body. I hook my arms under her legs and pick her up, wrapping her legs around my waist.
“You got it all wrong, pretty girl. You’re gonna be the death of me.” I walk us to the couch and sit, positioning her on my lap, and she immediately grinds her hips against me, drawing a groan out of me.
I tug at the bottom of her shirt until she lifts her arms, letting me pull it over her head, and I bite back a moan at the sight of her in just her bra and tight jeans. My lips immediately attack her collarbone, biting and nipping a trail down to her perfect tits.
She watches me, lips parted, as my hands find their way to her back, undoing the clasp on her bra. When I pull the garment away, she shivers, and I practically come in my goddamn pants.
“I love when you look at me like that,” she whispers, fingers tugging at my hair. I take one of her nipples in my mouth, running my tongue over the bud. She gasps, gripping me tighter.
While I tease her with my mouth, my left hand traces her skin, the metal cool against her heated body, and my right finds the button on her jeans.
“Pants. Off, Now,” I tell her.
“Ooh, Caveman Bucky is coming out to play,” she teases, standing on shaky legs to strip her jeans off. I shift until I’m sitting on the edge of the couch, my eyes level with her belly, and gaze up at her.
She’d never believe her if I told her, but she’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid eyes on.
I run my fingers along the band of her panties; she’s ticklish there, before I tug them down her legs. “You’re wearing too many clothes, Buck,” she tells me, reaching for my shirt. I let her pull it off of me, my jeans following soon after, and before I know it, I have her pressed into the couch with my head between her legs.
I love the way she grips my hair, showing me exactly what she wants while I eat her out. My hips grind against the couch, seeking any sort of friction I can find. I work her up with my tongue and fingers, desperate to feel her come.
Her face twists up, and she makes these beautiful breathy sounds, and I know she’s close. “Come on, baby, come for me,” I practically grunt, circling her clit the way she likes.
She comes with my name on her lips, and I can’t help but smile, knowing I’m the one that gets to do this to her, the one that gets to have her like this. I shift off the couch and pick her up, carrying her to her room.
I settle her onto the bed, kiss her until she’s breathless one more time, and run out into the main room to grab our clothes. We can never be too careful. Once I’m back, I pounce on her. I’m starving when it comes to my girl. I can never get enough.
“Please, Bucky,” she whines when I settle myself between her legs. She can feel how much I want her, how badly I’m aching for her, but I need her to beg a little more.
“Come on, baby,” I whisper. She knows what I want her to say.
“Fuck, Bucky, please fuck me.” I grin and sit up, watching her writhe on the bed. I fucking love her like this.
“You want me to fuck your pretty pussy?” I ask her, running my thumb over her sensitive clit.
“Please, please, please,” she chants, giving in to the feeling.
“Your wish is my command, baby.” I line my cock up with her and slowly press in, gritting my teeth at how tight she is. Once I’m fully inside her, I don’t move slow; I don’t give her much of a warning before I set a quick, deep pace.
I kiss her all over, needing to feel her everywhere. Her hands grip my back, scratching her nails against my skin, and I love that I’ll probably have marks tomorrow. Steve’ll probably give me shit, but I can’t wait.
I lose myself in fucking her, in pouring myself into the beautiful girl below me. She’s blissed out, loving the pleasure I give her. I press deeply inside of her, making her moan. She clenches around me, and I know she’s close again.
I help her turn over, lifting her hips into the air. She settles her upper body onto the mattress, and I have to groan at how perfect she looks like this. Gripping her hips, I press back into her and fuck her, my dick hitting deeper inside her in this position.
She’s a bumbling mess, moaning incoherently, and a sense of pride bubbles up in me. I know I won’t last much longer, so I reach around and find her clit again, bringing her back up to her peak.
“Come on, pretty girl.” She presses her hips against me, begging me to keep going. “I know you wanna come again; you wanna come all over my dick, don’t you?” She nods even though her face is pressed into the mattress.
“Yes, Bucky.”
“Then come for me, baby. I wanna see you come on my cock.” I fuck her harder, picking up the pace on her clit, and a few moments later, she comes hard, sending me over the edge right along with her.
Together, we collapse onto the bed, and I pull her close, needing the skin to skin contact. I know I need to get up and grab a towel so I can clean her up, but right now, this is where I need to be. I need to be wrapped up in my girl.
As we’re catching our breath, I hear the front door click open, and the familiar sound of my sister’s voice rings loudly through the apartment. I roll my eyes as I stand, looking for my boxers. I look over at my girl and see her frantically searching for her phone. When she grabs it, she shows me a text from Becca saying that since Ethan’s roommate is home, they’re coming back here.
I stifle a laugh; we always have shit luck with this stuff. We settle back into bed and wait for Becca and Ethan to find their way into Becca’s room, but in the meantime, I enjoy cuddling with my beautiful girl.
I want to go public. I want to tell Becca. I hate all this secret stuff, even though it’s fun sometimes. Hopefully, she feels the same. I press a kiss to her forehead as she scrolls through her various social media apps and make sure she knows just how much I like being here with her.

You were in heaven. At least it felt like you were.
Lying there with your head on Peter’s chest, his hand rubbing gentle circles on your back, legs tangled up in the warm sheets, you were the most comfortable you’ve ever been. Perhaps too comfortable.
You and Peter met during your freshman year. He and his friend, Ned, lived in the dorm directly across the hall from you. After learning that you were both from Queens, you became instant friends. It wasn’t until the Spring semester that you noticed something between you. A spark.
A lingering glance here. A flirty comment there. You both finally decided to give in to temptation and try your hand at being friends with benefits.
That was six months ago and against your better judgment, you felt yourself falling for him. Hard. You swore to yourself that for the sake of your friendship, you wouldn’t let yourself get attached. However, your heart had other plans.
You glance out of the window to see the sun setting, realizing your time with Peter has come to an end. You let out a sigh before moving to climb out of bed. Before your feet are able to touch the ground, you feel a gentle hand wrap around your wrist.
“Wait, you’re leaving already? It’s barely even 8 o’clock.” He says with a nearly imperceptible pout on his lips.
You let out a light chuckle, “I just figured I’d start heading back. I’ve been here all day. You’re probably getting sick of me by now.”
“Don’t say that. I could never get sick of you. I love every minute I spend with you.” He says with a slight frown.
You pause and look at him – really look at him. He’s dead serious. You attempt to laugh it off, ignoring the feeling building in the pit of your stomach. You ruffle his already messy curls before finally climbing out of bed, “Aw, thanks, Parker. I love spending time with you too.”
There is a moment of silence as he takes you in. Eyes follow you around the room as you free yourself from his t-shirt, changing back into your own clothes.
“Hey, Y/N?”
You hum, urging him to continue.
“Y’know you’re always welcome to stay over if you’d like…right?”
You stop in your tracks and look at him, searching his eyes for any indication that he’s joking. Your search turns up empty.
You just sigh and shake your head. “C’mon Pete, we’ve talked about this. You know the rules.”
“It’s just…you’re always in such a rush to leave after we hook up. I don’t want you to feel like you have to do that, that’s all.”
“I appreciate that. Trust me, I do. I just don’t think it’s appropriate.”
“What do you mean? You’ve slept over dozens of times. What’s one more?” He says crawling over to the edge of the bed to be closer to you.
“Yeah but that was before we started doing this.” You say gesturing between the two of you.
“It’s just one night. It’s not a big deal.”
You frown, “Maybe not to you, but it is to me.”
A look of confusion flashes across his features. “What do you mean?”
“I mean that cuddling and spending time together after sex crosses a boundary that we both agreed we wouldn’t cross. We both agreed that we need to give each other space in order for this to work. Otherwise, it’ll start to feel like we’re more than just benefitting if you know what I mean.”
A long, uncomfortable silence hangs in the air as you go back to gathering your belongings. You almost forgot that Peter was in the room before he quietly spoke up again.
“…But would that be so bad, though?”
“Peter-” “Please. Let me finish.”
You nod sitting back down next to him on the mattress.
“I’m sorry, okay? I know it’s against the rules or whatever but I can’t help the fact that every time I see you walk out that door, you take a little piece of my heart with you. Every night we spend together just plays on repeat in my head, over and over, until I get the chance to see you again. Being around you is all I want to do, Y/N.”
You feel your heart rate pick up and your breath quicken. This is the moment you’ve been dreaming of since you first came to terms with the fact that you had feelings for Peter. So, why are you not over the moon about his confession?
Avoiding his gaze, you turn away from him, shaking your head. “We’re friends Pete. I would never jeopardize that.”
“Well can’t we at least try? Look at me, sweetheart.” You reluctantly let your eyes meet his as he grabs your hands, sandwiching them between his own. “I say to hell with the rules. I’d break every rule in the book if it meant we got to be together. I’m not saying we have to end up in a relationship if that’s not what you want. All I’m asking is that we have a proper go at it and see if we can make things work. I’m tired of moving around in secrecy. I want to take you out on a real date. I want to fall asleep next to you. I want to be able to show you off because that’s what you deserve, Y/N. Let me be the one to give that to you.”
Your brain is screaming at you to say “no, absolutely not” but your heart is screaming louder and it’s telling you that this may be worth the risk.
“If I agree to this, keyword: if, would you agree to take things slow?”
“Of course, whatever you want! Maybe you can start leaving a change of clothes here? I can empty out one of my drawers for you if you’d like. I can even get you an extra toothbrush or something that you can keep in my bathroom. That way, you don’t have to leave super early to go back to your place. Oh! How about we-” You cut off his rambling by grabbing his face between your hands.
“Parker!”
A deep red washes over his features, throwing you a sheepish grin. “…Yeah?”
“I’d be honored to leave a toothbrush at your place, you goof.”
Those are the last words you’re able to say before he pounces on you, smothering your face with kisses. “You won’t regret this, Y/N. I promise.”

Word Count - 1.8k
♡♡♡♡
A heavy pounding shot through your head as you began to wake from your sleep. A soft groan leaving your lips as the memories from last night slowly began to resurface. Your roommates, Wanda and Natasha, convinced you to come out to a frat party with them. The three of you had been in school for at least five months and you hadn’t gone out to any parties with them and they so desperately wanted you to come. Though that particular night didn’t take much convincing. Finals for that semester were done and over with so you decided going to a party would’ve been a nice celebration. And nice it was, but now you were truly regretting it as you woke up in tremendous pain.
“You know it’s usually me making those noises.” A raspy voice said from beside you.
Slowly, you peeked your eyes open and was met with your worst nightmare. The voice belonged to the one and only, James Bucky Barnes. Thee frat boy of your college campus. Every guy wanted to be him and every girl wanted to date him, yet here you were, lying in his bed. If this was any other time, you’d shoot out his bed and make a b-line for the door, but the killer headache wouldn’t allow you to even if you wanted, “God, my head.” You covered your eyes, ignoring his initial statement, “What the hell did you guys put in that punch.”
The bed shuffled from beside you then lifted, letting you know that he had removed himself from the bed. “That’s a secret we’ll never tell.” he spoke, snorting at his own joke. You heard a couple cabinets open and close as well as the faucet from his bathroom running before you felt the bed dip once more, “Here.”
You braced yourself as you sat up slowly, leaning back against the headboard, forcing your eyes open as you accepted the two tylenol pills and a glass of water from him, “Thanks.”
Bucky nodded as he watched you take both pills before smirking, “You’re oddly calm after waking up in a stranger's bed after getting wasted last night.”
Passing the glass back to him, he leaned over and put it on the nightstand as you rested your head against the wooden frame, “You’re hardly a stranger, Bucky. We’ve been going to school together since we were kids.”
He chuckled, “True, but we were never friends.”
“Well for one, you were an asshole and I’m not friends with assholes.”
“Nat is the biggest asshole and she’s your best friend.”
“Nat’s an asshole with a purpose, you were an asshole for no reason.”
He sat quietly for a moment, letting your words sink in before he nodded in agreement, “Okay, that’s fair. I’ve grown up though.”
You hummed, not really sure if you believe it but as he said, the two of you were never friends, still aren’t so you didn’t have a right to judge him anymore. For the first time that morning, you actually glanced down at yourself, thankful that you still had your own clothes on, “Did I do anything embarrassing last night?”
“Like take your top off and dance on top of our counters?” Bucky said as your eyes widened. You almost believed him before he let out a deep laugh, “I’m joking.”
“See! Asshole!” You smacked his arm, letting your heart pull itself out of your stomach.
“You drank a little too much, danced a little and then i found you asleep in one of our bathrooms so I brought you in here.” He stated with a shrug, “And no, we didn’t do anything. I would never.”
For some reason, him saying that made you sad. Not because you weren’t thankful that he or anyone else had taken advantage of you, but it made it seem like someone had once before accused him of it, “I wasn’t going to ask that, but thank you.”
Bucky nodded, clearing his throat as he stood up from the spot on his bed, “Nat’s been calling you all morning by the way.”
“What?!” You shot up, scanning the room for your phone, spotting it on the nightstand and dove for it. You had 5 missed calls from Wanda and over 10 from Natasha, along with a few voicemails, “Shit.” Clicking on the most recent one, letting it play on speaker.
I swear to fucking god, Y/N, you better be dead. IT’S TEN A.M. ANSWER YOUR GODDAMN PHONE!
“I have to go!” You shot up out of bed, deeply regretting it as another ache shot through your head.
Bucky smirked, “What is she, your mom?”
“She might as well be.” You mumbled as you went around Bucky’s room, gathering your shoes, jacket and purse. You stopped in your tracks as you came face to face with Bucky, well actually face to chest. He was in the middle of changing his shirt when you saw it. The deep scarring that was an angry red around his left shoulder that looked like it wrapped around to his back. He had a bad motorcycle accident in highschool that almost cost him his life and arm that left him with nothing but a whole lot of trauma. He had disappeared from highschool for the last year and had only seen him again during your college orientation.
But his scarring didn’t take away from the fact that the man was built like a greek god. He was a 3-Sport athlete and had the body to prove it. The six pack was surrounded by large pecs and built biceps all complimented by his tanned skin. There was no denying that Bucky Barnes was sex on legs.
“Like what you see?” He smirked, slowly approaching you.
And just as quickly as the lust came in, it went out the window, “As if.”
He chuckled, finally pulling the new shirt over him, “Come on, I’ll walk you out.”
You nodded, slipping on your shoes then jacket and followed him out of the room. Your stomach started turning at the thought of anyone seeing you leave a guys room. Especially Bucky’s room. You’d never hear the end of it from anyone ever again, “Is there anyone down here?”
Bucky shrugged as he led you down the stairs, “I don’t think so.”
Just when the two of you reached the bottom of the steps and turned the corner, there stood the entirety of Bucky’s frat brothers, Steve, Sam, Tony and Thor, at the front door moving trash out of the house. The four other largely built men stopped in their tracks and turned towards you.
“Mornin’ Buck–and Y/n?” Steve said questionably.
You internally groaned. You weren’t planning on telling Nat’s whose bed you actually spent the night in, but now that her boyfriend knows, he’d definitely tell her by the time you’d get back to your door, “Hey Steve.”
“Um, Nat and Wanda have been looking for you. Didn’t know you were here though.”
“Yeah and with Bucky of all people.” Sam jumped in.
“What? Mad she didn’t sleep in your bed?” Bucky shot back at Sam before placing his hand on your lower back and ushering you past the men and towards the door. “Do you need a ride?”
“No, I can walk.” You stated, rather offendly at his previous, “What you said to Sam wasn’t necessary and it was rude.”
“I didn’t mean it that way!” He called out as you continued to walk without even giving him another glance, “Fuck.”
He glared at Sam as he re-entered the home, who was wearing a smug look on his face as he clearly heard what happened, “Awe, did poor Buck-a-roo get rejected?”
“Shut up, she didn’t reject me. I don’t get rejected.” Bucky rolled his eyes, making his way into the kitchen where the other guys stood.
Tony hummed with a mischievous look in his eyes, “Oh, really?
♡♡♡♡
“Bucky fucking Barnes?! What happened to your no frat boys rule?!” Nat yelled as she followed you around through your campus apartment.
“Jesus Nat, I didn’t actually sleep with him! He found me asleep in their bathrooms and moved me to his bed, that’s it!” You loved Nat, you truly did. You were thankful that you even had a friend in your life that cared as much about you as she did, but god did she take the mom role in the friend group too seriously sometimes, “I am fine Nat. Nothing happened.”
“I know, I know. I just feel bad. You didn’t come home last night and I didn’t look good enough for you and then when I woke up this morning, you still weren’t here.” She sighed, “That asshole could’ve at least told someone.
“You were probably just as drunk as I was, it’s fine.” You smiled softly at her, “Now bring it in.”
Her mood immediately changed, “No, uh-uh.”
“Yes! It’s not fair that only Steve gets your love!”
She smirked, “Well Steve is the only one giving me five-star d–”
Shaking your head, you put down your arms in defeat, “Please do not ruin my image of innocent Steve Rogers.” Nat laughed with a shrug as she finally left you alone to shower. A nice long shower that ridded the rest of your headache and scrubbed whatever leftover sins that had transferred to you from laying in Bucky’s bed.
Your mind drifted back to this morning. The way that Bucky spoke softly with you and joked with you in a way that you had never experienced before with any man. You were especially shocked that such softness would come from the Frat boy that was known to mess around with girls and never look back at them again. What made you different? What made you stand out? Or did you just let the stereotypes of frats cloud your judgment on the type of guy he was. Steve Rogers was one of the nicest guys you had ever met. He’s in a frat and has been friends with Bucky since forever. What if he wasn’t the big asshole you thought he was?
Pushing the thoughts away, you finished your shower and got out. Planning on what to wear today and what last minute plans you could come up with to spend time with your roommates before everyone went home for break.
“Hey Nat, where’s Wanda?” You called out, picking up your phone as you noticed a message from an unknown number.
“She went to brunch with Vision after she found out you were with Bucky.”
“Figures.” You mumbled to yourself with a smile. Wanda and Vision had been attached at the hip since they met during freshman year of college. They were cute and in love. Tapping around on your screen, you open the message thread with the unknown number.
212-555-xxxx
Since I lent you my bed last night, I think it’s only fair you thank me with lunch. Meet me in the cafe at 1?
You couldn’t help the smile that grew on your face. Lunch wouldn’t hurt…right?

People were leaving, they were talking excitedly about what they just witnessed as if it was entertaining. For you the high pitched ringing in your ears wouldn’t let up and you couldn’t tear your eyes from the scene in front of you. The medical team led Bucky off the ice, pressing a cloth to his nose to stem the bleeding. You didn’t register Nat pulling your arm toward the locker room because you couldn’t take your eyes off the puddle of blood solidifying to the ice.
“Hello, hello,” Nat waved her hand in front of your face, your eyes focused back in suddenly, and the ringing in your ears stopped as well. You shook your head and blinked a couple times to clear your swirling thoughts. You looked at her with wide eyes, she gave you a sympathetic smile back. “You good?” She asked and you nodded, she was studying your face before determining you were actually okay, and over the momentary shock.
“I’m fine,” your head snapped toward Bucky’s voice as he shooed a medical examiner off. “Doodle?” He looked around, over the sea of people in the hallway. “Doodle,” he caught your eyes and smiled. He swaggered over to you instantly, a cocky grin plastered on his face. He had a couple steri-strips on the bridge of his nose and his knuckles were wrapped in gauze.
You raised an eyebrow at him and crossed your arms over your chest as he sauntered over, a look of disbelief on your face.
“What did you think?” He asked with a smile on his face. Taken back by his question you didn’t answer right away.
“What did I think of what?” You asked bewildered. He tilted his head and stared down at you with a “are you kidding” expression.
“The fight? What did I think of that unnecessary amount of violence and display of barbarism?” You questioned, your voice raising a couple notches by the end of the sentence. He couldn’t be serious, could he? He was.
“It wasn’t unnecessary violence,” Barnes sounded taken back, almost offended by your statement. You raised both eyebrows now and looked up at him, your hip cocked to the side and the exasperation evident on your face.
“Then what in pray tell would you call it?” You asked, your tone matching his.
“Hockey? Defending myself?” He questioned back. Your eyes widened slightly as you thought about your wording. It sounded like you were blaming him for starting the fight that was clearly started by the other team. But that didn’t excuse the excessive amount of violence displayed by two grown men.
“Defending yourself, and fucking a man up as bad as you did are two very different things,” you tapped your foot annoyed at him. He was smirking now, that confused you.
“I love when you swear Doodle,” he mused, “such a proper, pretty mouth saying such filthy things,” his hand slipped up and cupped your face as he ran his thumb over your flaming cheek. You grimaced and stepped back from him, ripping his hand from your face instantly.
“God you’re disgusting,” you said with a clipped tone, you turned away from him to try and calm your flaming cheeks. “I’m glad you’re okay, you oaf, but I need to go now.” You started walking away from him, his big hand gripped your upper arm and tugged you back.
“Oh come on Doodle, I meant no offence,” he had a slight almost desperate sounding whine in his tone. “What do you mean leaving? There’s a party to celebrate the win!” He said enthusiastically.
“Well whether you meant offence or not is neither here nor there. What you said was crude and uncalled for,” you said firmly. You pulled your arm from his grasp, “and I don’t do parties.,” you said firmly. “Also, I told you, I’m not interested in anything outside getting my project done. I’m sure you’ll find someone at the party with a pretty mouth to do whatever you want,” you spat at him. You turned fully, your face set in nasty scowl and you marched out of the arena, ignoring him as he called after you.
You didn’t see him for a week after that. Not because you were avoiding him, maybe you were avoiding him, but the team had a few away games and classes got in the way. Most of your free time was now devoted to being hauled up in one of the art studios in front of a huge canvas you were using to do your project. As well as completing other small projects for other classes. At this point you really didn’t need to see Barnes in person anyway you had a decent amount of sketches from your few trips to the arena.
It was the night before the last home game of regular season, Nat had informed you Barnes had been looking for you during practice, even to the point of deliberately asking her where you were lately. After tomorrow night's game it was 4 away games and then playoffs. Your project was due in 6 weeks, at the end of the semester. You also had to submit your progress sketches and show off the beginnings of the final project next week. So you were trying to have something done and you couldn’t waste another canvas because you couldn’t get the placement right, or the pose right, that was mainly because you didn’t actually know what pose you wanted.
With an exasperated groan you threw your head back, closing your eyes and taking a few deep inhales through your nose. You were so focused on trying to recenter yourself you didn’t hear the art room door open and close followed by heavy footfalls.
“Doodle!” You screamed when you felt his hand touch your shoulder and his voice echo through the art studio.
“Holy shit Barnes,” you squealed, placing your hand over your pounding heart to try and soothe it, “you scared me.”
“Ouch,” he shook his head to stop the slight ringing in his ears from your scream. “I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said quickly. “I was looking for you, figured the art rooms would be a good place to start.”
“Good deduction skills Barnes,” you said in an exasperated tone. “I’m surprised the FBI hasn’t come to recruit you yet,” your eyebrow raised as you looked at him.
“You haven’t been to practise all week,” he said quietly, his tone was different from his usual cock sure one. “You haven’t been avoiding me have you?” He asked, his usual teasing lit was back now.
“Nope, just didn’t need to see you in person,” you patted the sketch book laying up on a book stand. “Have everything I need in here,” you smiled up at him.
He looked dejected almost, like he was upset you hadn’t been at the rink, he rubbed his neck awkwardly before stopping and straightening up. “I see. So you won’t be at the game tomorrow?”
You shrugged, flipping the sketch book closed and gathering your supplies, “I don’t know. Don’t really need to,” you said as you walked around the studio putting things away, Bucky followed the best he could.
“Ah come on Doodle,” he whined. “Watching is part of the fun.”
“I guess so?” You said with a question. “I don’t find sports that interesting,” you said nonchalantly as you made it back to the door, opening it up and waiting for Bucky to get the hint. He quickly scurried out of the room and you closed and locked the door.
“But you find all that interesting?” He asked, unconvinced. “Or do you enjoy getting high off paint fumes?” You clenched your jaw to stop the scathing remark from coming out, but he struck a nerve at this point.
As calmly as you could you spoke, “not all of us get to be here because we can throw our fists around and shoot hard rudder at nets, Barnes. Some of us actually had to work hard for our full rides.”
“I work hard. I didn’t get where I am because I can ‘throw my fists around,’” he snapped. You stopped and turned to look at him, arms crossing over your chest waiting for him to continue. “I had to show I was worth it, talent scouts, practising. You know, hard manual work, not just waving a brush on some canvas and batting my eyelashes to get in.”
You were seething at this point, but refused to let yourself sink to yelling, or cussing him out. “I’m not having this conversation. The amount of work I put into my portfolio to be here isn’t going to be belittled by an overgrown toddler that skates with a stick in his hand for a living, someone who could care less about anything but a fucking hockey puck and some cold pussy afterwards.”
“Is that what you think?” He asked, you couldn’t quite tell if he was genuinely asking or challenging you.
“It doesn’t matter what I think. I’m done. Have a good night Barnes,” you gave up, you didn’t want to fight or yell. You also really didn’t have the mental energy to go through Barnes' personality with a fine tooth comb to find the desirable parts of him that had to be buried in there somewhere. You left the art annex with him hot on your heels calling after you.
“Hey,” he grabbed your shoulder to make you stop. “I’m not done. You don’t get to decide what I am.”
“Let go Barnes,” you struggled with his grip, it wasn’t hard or painful by any means, just firm.
“No, you’re avoiding me. Why?” He questioned.
“I'm not avoiding you Barnes, I have projects and deadlines to meet. Because contrary to popular belief you don’t occupy every female brain on the campus.” You snapped.
“Come on Doodle, I didn’t mean it like that,” he said, his cocky demeanour back. “I just wanna get to know you. Be friends,” he didn’t even sound sure about that when he said it, and you couldn’t help but laugh.
“You and I both know what you actually want and it’s not fucking happening. I’m not interested, I’m doing this project and hopefully we’ll never have to be around each other again,” you shook your shoulder again. “And would you please let me go,” you said in a very annoyed tone.
You hadn’t heard Loki come up behind you two, your conversation quiet although heated, Barnes grip loosened slightly as he stared at you in disbelief, “she said let her go Barnes,” Loki’s silky voice said sternly.
“Whatever,” Barnes' hand dropped from your shoulder and he grumbled under his breath. “If you want to come watch the game tomorrow, the seat is  reserved for you,” he said as he walked away.
“Are you alright darling?” Loki asked as you turned to face him, moving your shoulder a little, Bucky’s grip wasn’t painful and you couldn’t get your heart to stop pitter pattering.
“I’m fine,” you muttered. The rage in your eyes dying. “He’s just…” you trailed off.
“Insufferable? Annoying? There’s many synonyms for him,” Loki mused. You gave him a smile that didn’t quite reach your eyes. Loki frowned at that, “what is it darling?” He wrapped his arm loosely around your shoulders as you walked toward his car.
“I don’t know. Just something I can’t really articulate properly. He’s so many things but there’s something there. Hiding, like he’s afraid to express it,” you said softly as you leaned into his side. “Maybe I’m reading into it and he’s actually just an insufferable prick, but I can’t help but think there’s more to him,” you mumbled thoughtfully, looking up at Loki, he held a thoughtful expression as he looked ahead.
“Maybe darling, you never know,” he responded quietly. The air was thick with tension, and you couldn’t quite wrap your head around your opinions on Barnes. On the surface he was cocky, arrogant, and down right crude. But sometimes, when he was skating and you could see his eyes there was a peaceful, care free expression. When he looked at you, just below the surface there was something akin to admiration and thoughtfulness. I’m definitely reading into this you thought to yourself as you slid into the passenger seat of Loki’s car.

~The next day~
You found yourself pulling on a sweater over your T-shirt before leaving your room and pulling on some shoes, with a hat tucked under your arm but no sketchbook this time.
“Where are you off too? The Arctic?” Wanda mused from the kitchen.
“The rink,” you muttered back, securing your laces.
“Where's your sketch pad?” She asked softly, while stirring her dinner. It smelled delicious.
“In my room, I’m going to get some videos of Barnes’ skating and maybe actually try and understand the game,” Wanda gave you a questioning look, before she smiled and looked down. “What?”
“Nothing, it seems you’re enthralled,” her voice light, “it’s like Hela all over again,” she chuckled. Your cheeks heated up a little, but unlike Hela you were garnering a small crush on Barnes. It was annoying and uncalled for, and damn your brain for having a thing for blue eyes and brown hair.
“Once this project is over, all will be right,” you said, not fully believing yourself at this moment and you were sure she didn’t either.
“Be careful,” she sounded so soft and motherly, she didn’t convey any malice or harm, just genuine care for you. Those two words conveyed much more than just a simple sentiment. You knew that you had to be careful, men like Barnes were usually nothing but trouble, players, womanisers. But for some reason whenever he looked in your direction, whenever he spoke to you, your heart rate sped up and your stomach did somersaults.
When you sat down in the chair that was reserved for you Nat joined you a moment later, the arena starting to fill nicely.
“I didn't expect to see you here today,” she smiled at Clint as he skated by for warm ups. “Clint said Barnes was in a mood all day, and during practice.” She side eyed you “you wouldn’t have anything to do with it?”
You groaned and leaned your head back, “we got into a small disagreement last night, after you told him where to find me.”
“Ah, I told him to check the art rooms, he had been dogging me all week about why you weren’t here,” Nat responded.
“I probably said somethings that were cruel because he got under my skin,” you sighed and rubbed your brow. “I don’t know why, but he brings out the worst in me. And I‘m starting to think it’s just me and I’m being unfair to him.”
“Nah he probably deserved it, not many will put him in his place. The last one was his girlfriend in first year, they had been dating for a couple years and she kept him in line. She left him to move away with her family to Alaska,” Nat said casually. That definitely made a little more sense. Perspective changing your perception slightly.
“Hmm,” you hummed as you watched the players skate around. Barnes and Rogers rough housing on the opposite end of the arena caught your attention. Barnes’ head turned as if he felt your eyes on him and he pushed away from Rogers and skated toward you.He came to a stop just in front of you behind the glass and smirked, you rolled your eyes in response.
“Glad to see you back at the rink,” he said cheerfully. “Need some more inspo for the project? I thought you had everything,” you picked up a slightly sour undertone in his voice. Your mouth formed a thin line as you squinted at him, not bothering to entertain his petty jab. “Whatever Doodle, enjoy the game.” He skated backwards and flashed a full tooth smile.
“I think he likes you,” Peggy said as she sat down, you groaned.
“He likes the thought of sleeping with me,” you said pointedly. Peggy laughed, she had a sing song like laugh, it was like bells. You slid further down in your seat to make yourself smaller.
“He’s usually not this persistent,” Peggy noted as she watched Steve skate by with a soft blush on her cheeks.
“He usually doesn’t have to be,” Nat chimed in.
“Oh, then I should be honoured he can’t take no for an answer? Persistence isn’t flattering. We're not 5. It's obnoxious,” your tone was flat, and unamused. Nat and Peggy’s eyes widened. “What?”
Nat laughed now, “I’m not used to you getting so heated, you’re not wrong though. I wouldn’t have given Clint a chance if he acted like Barnes.”
“From the outside it looks cuter than it actually is,” Peggy said softly, “but I see where you’re coming from.”
“Maybe if he didn’t start out with that cocky attitude, or didn’t flaunt himself all over campus as a playboy, maybe I would have given him a chance. But I’m not in the mood to be used as active release therapy and dumped,” you were sour about it, it bothered you for many reasons and the biggest most glaring reason is the stupid teeny tiny crush you may or may not have on him, and you hated it. Wanda seemed to just know but didn’t push it, and maybe Nat realised as well but chose to keep your sanity intact and not bother bringing it up.  Nat just placed her hand on your shoulder and gave you an encouraging smile, she did know, and that was confirmation.
The game was not as intense as the last you watched, our team was easily winning. Whenever Barnes had a goal he made sure to skate past you and send you a wink, which would make your cheeks turn bright red. Groaning, you covered your face with your hands for what felt like the millionth time that night.
Natasha dug her elbow in your side and pointed, Barnes was skating effortlessly on a breakaway as you had learned, you pulled your phone out and filmed him. He scored and the artist in you screamed, that was the pose, he was slightly crouched, the stick extended and the puck sailed. It was beautiful, and you squealed out loud, which made Nat give you a funny look. You stared back at her, mouth slightly agape as Barnes’ had also heard you delighted squeal as he skated passed, a beautiful smile on his face. “I got the pose for my project,” you said sheepishly. Nat burst out laughing.
Your school's team unsurprisingly won the game by a landslide, and there were no fights this time, so you actually mildly, fully, enjoyed the experience. You were trailing behind Natasha and Peggy as they expertly wove in and out of the crowd to the locker room. The three of you stood waiting for the guys to finish up and come out, Clint was first, Nat walked over to him and wrapped him in a big hug, congratulating him on the win with a sweet kiss following, you couldn’t help but smile at them. A few more of the guys came out and waved and went on their way, one choosing to stop in front of you.
“Wilson, my friends call me Sam, and you must be the artist?” He smirked, offering his hand. You smiled back and took it with a short shake.
“That would be me, Wilson.”
“Oh that's cold,” you couldn’t help but chuckle at his reaction, he was laughing as well. “Buck will be out soon,” he said with a bright smile.
“You don’t get to call me that,” Barnes’ voice called out, as you watched Wilson roll his eyes.
“Steve does,” he called back.
“Yeah, I’ve known Steve longer. And he always had a plan,” Barnes retorted back as sauntered over to you. “Hey Doodle,” he flashed an award winning smile. You gave him one back, this side of him something you never saw before. And you really liked it.
“Come on man, one missed goal and suddenly I never have a plan,” Wilson was holding his stomach while he laughed.
“It’s why I’m the Captain,” Steve butted in, throwing his arm over the two men’s shoulders.
“Rogers,” you greeted. He gave you a dazzling smile, and you quickly realised why Peggy was so smitten.
“Oh please, call me Steve or Cap,” he stuck his hand out politely, you took it and shook his hand.
What you didn’t see was Nat and Clint watching the interaction with shit eating grins on their faces, and you definitely didn’t notice the picture she snapped of you smiling up at Bucky and he sending it to Loki, captioned She totally hates him XP. To which he responded Is that what they’re calling falling in love nowadays? Nat burst out laughing and they caught your attention. You looked over at her and she shot you a bright smile and patted Clint’s shoulder.
“So Doodle,” your attention was brought back to Barnes, and you smiled up at him. “What made you come to the rink? You said you had everything,” He played with the end of a strand of your hair as he spoke.
“I needed a couple videos so I could watch the movement. And I finally got the pose I wanted,” you stated happily, dancing on the balls of your feet.
“Will I get to see?” He asked, fingers still twisting the strand of hair as he smiled down at you leaning over you slightly. The pose could almost be considered intimate if you had been paying attention.
“Once it’s done,” you smiled back and scrunched your nose at him. This side of him, you could get behind. He was effortlessly flirty, but not cocky and crude.
“Come on Doodle, the muse should get to see, and I could provide some live modelling,” his voice dropped an octave and your cheeks reddened at the implication.
“And you had to ruin it,” you stepped back, putting distance between you two, breaking the heavy atmosphere that had built up. Barnes hand dropped from your hair as he huffed.
“Doodle,” you crossed your arms over your chest and looked up at him unimpressed.
“If you want to see the progress you know where to find me,” you said, moving to leave the arena and head home for the night.
“I guess you’re not coming to celebrate,” he called after you. You turned and walked backwards for a moment, waving.
“See you Barnes, night everyone,” you turned and walked out of the arena into the night. The breeze cool as spring slipped into place over the college town you called home.
