Gaur (Bos gaurus)

Conservation Status- Vulnerable

Habitat- India; Southeast Asia

Size (Weight/Length)- 1200 kg; 350 cm

Diet- Leaves; Grasses; Seeds; Flowers

Cool Facts- The gaur is the world’s largest species of wild cattle. These giant water buffalos spend their days in small herds led by a matriarch. When a bull approaches a group of cows, he has to be cautious out of fear of facing a dozen pairs of 100 centimeter horns. Gaur tromp through large areas of jungle in search of food and can strip trees of their bark when leaves are scarce. Due to their absolutely massive size, gaurs have very few natural predators. Only tigers and saltwater crocodiles are capable of taking down adults. Gaur protect their own and form a protective circle around calves when threatened by a tiger, often chasing the tiger off. Gaurs are highly protected due to their dwindling population, but poaching for their meat and as a trophy remains as their largest threat.

During the attack on Pearl Harbor, Miller had helped wounded sailors to safety and used an anti-aircraft machine gun to shoot down Japanese airplanes.

Update Post - 27th of May, 2023

Hi guys! This might be my last weekly update post for a while, but don't worry—I don't attempt to disappear in that time. In fact, I've come with news as far as how I should be tackling on workload from now!

I've decided setting a consistent schedule for myself would be beneficial, so here's tentatively how it is:

I'll be answering a bunch of asks over the weekend, and then queue them for throughout the week. Maybe 2-4 asks answered daily.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my special writing days. My wish is to write everyday, but that's not always feasible; setting aside a couple of days just to write would be super helpful to focus on them!

During this time, I will also be working on my full-time work in real life, which is pretty much a 24/7 thing—but I will set aside Friday and Monday as my special IRL work days to get projects done.

Nothing is set in stone, but I wanted to be transparent about this so you guys know that I am committed to writing this IF, as having a little structure might help speed things along!

I am working on asks as we speak; I took a break earlier to give people's feed a little break from this blog, too. Hopefully I can get back into the rhythm of answering (currently, I have 12 posts in queue, including this). I've been trying to balance compliments and general remarks with RO + parent scenarios/asks, so that there's some variety!

Thanks for everyone's patience 💕💕 I am grateful for everyone's support! It took me a long time to finally have a demo, so I wanted to say again: thank you for those who supported me knowing they were tentative times. 🫂

Sea Pig (Scotoplanes globosa)

Conservation Status- Unlisted

Habitat- Pacific Ocean

Size (Weight/Length)- 15 cm

Diet- Decaying plants; Carrion

Cool Facts- The sea pig is a frankly horrifying looking sea cucumber. Ranging from a translucent white to pale pink, the sea pig uses tubular feet to move around the ocean floor. The ‘antennae’ on their head are also another pair of feet that help them flip over if they find themselves on their back. Sea pigs use ocean currents to travel long distances in where they can travel for miles before touching back down on the sand due to their buoyant bodies. Essential for decomposition, sea pigs eat carrion that falls to the ocean floor from predators far above them, often congregating in mass numbers around whale carcasses.
