I have a question. I don't know if this has been asked this before. Why does Roxanne fall for Megamind? I'm crazy happy they end up together but I still wonder why? Most people were scared of him until he saved the day. He kidnapped Roxanne all the time. She was super pissed at him for a while there. He's also not human. How does the whole attraction thing even work when you aren't the same species? Because, yeah, Megs is cool af, but an ET with blue skin and a big head probably wasn't the star of many Metro City girl's wet dreams. Maybe after he started the hero gig since people are just like that but not before. But Roxanne kind of flirted with him before he turned good or anything. So I guess she had to see something in him other people didn't. What do you think it was?
MEGAMIND FAN THEORY THURSDAY: Roxanne’s Attraction
Tumblr media
Yes, I’m back again with another Megamind Fan Theory Thursday! Special thanks to this week’s anonymous contributor! I appreciate you, whoever you may be! I also want to express my sincere gratitude to all those who read, like, and reblog these posts… Knowing that you share the love for this fandom is the reason why I continue dedicating time, whenever possible, to researching and writing about these theories. This blog wouldn’t exist without you. Thank you!
If, however, you are that one individual who has inexplicably insisted upon reading two years' worth of articles about a film you still haven’t watched… I continue to have faith you’ll one day see the light. Or at least the movie. Hope springs eternal.
In the meantime: SPOILER WARNING!
We’re all human—at least, I assume most people reading this probably are—and that means we’re imperfect. One of the sadly common flaws of our species is a tendency to be rather judgmental, sometimes without just cause, and we certainly see that occurring in the film Megamind. After all, the alien genius was left to be raised in a high-security jail among presumably dangerous inmates simply due to his appearance and was pressured into supervillainy in part because he was different. Given that fact, along with the fear and ostracization many apparently showed him, there is reason to wonder exactly what first attracted Roxanne Ritchi to the blue man. After all, as today’s contributor pointed out, most humans, if asked to describe their perfect match, might not immediately default to “an alien with a large head and a complexion of a popular primary color, as a random nonspecific example.” Yet Roxanne is most certainly attracted to Megamind. Of course, many fan suggest that she must find him handsome—it’s doubtful she’d be in a romantic relationship with him by the end of the film if she thought him ugly—but they also contend that, given her disinterest in Metroman, the attraction must be more than physical. The question is: what qualities made her fall for him rather than an ordinary human or the supposedly perfect former Defender? Can fan theories shed any light? Let’s take a look!
Not Your Average Damsel
Some may be tempted to suggest that this is merely a typical case of the damsel falling for her rescuer. After all, that’s one of the common superhero tropes, isn’t it? Even Megamind himself, while talking to Titan after training, said that saving a lady was the way to her heart. The problem with this is that, in that particular instance, the blue man was completely and undeniably wrong. His love interest’s attraction had little or nothing to do with him whisking her out of Titan’s murderous clutches.
There are three reasons why fan theories rightfully dispute the concept of Megamind and Roxanne sharing a stereotypical hero/damsel romance. Firstly, the movie itself is well known for subverting superhero genre norms, and indeed that seems to have been one of the major themes of the narrative. Given how much effort was put into turning such conventions on their heads, sometimes even lampooning them, it’s extremely doubtful that the film’s creators would have suddenly adopted such stereotypes in this one case.
Secondly, there is Roxanne herself. This character is spunky, independent, and not easily cowed. During Megamind and Titan’s second fight, we see her holding a broken street sign, preparing to join in the fray. That’s a far cry from the expected behavior of a supposedly helpless damsel. Furthermore, despite being rescued by Metroman multiple times—hundreds, in fact, according to the prequel comic The Reign of Megamind—she states outright that they “were never a couple.” That alone clearly dismisses the idea of Roxanne swooning for the blue man simply because he rescues her. If she were the sort to do that, she would have fallen for Metroman as well—especially considering that most of the people around her apparently believed him to be Mr. Perfect.
Tumblr media
The third and final reason is one we’ve touched on before. It bears repeating, however, as it truly puts the proverbial nail in the coffin of the Typical Damsel argument. As our contributor mentioned, Roxanne canonically was attracted to Megamind while he was still a supervillain. During the kidnapping scene, when the blue man draws close and practically purrs a vaguely suggestive line—“such… tricks won’t work on me”—in the reporter’s ear, rather than showing reluctance she asks him to “please talk slower.” Megamind, of course, responds by calling her “Temptress.” Tellingly, while she doesn’t acknowledge it, Roxanne also doesn’t object to the epithet. Fan theories suggest that this obviously indicates there was already attraction on both sides, although its extremely doubtful either would have ever acted upon it. (As a well-known television reporter, Roxanne may have been too well aware of the potential destruction of her career, and Megamind, despite having her at his mercy numerous times, was obviously too goodhearted to make a move without invitation. You can read more about the latter in Megamind and Masculinity.)
Smart is Hot
This, then, leaves us with the question of exactly what did attract Roxanne to Megamind. Does she simply have a thing for blue aliens, or is it something more than that? One fan theory suggests that the answer lies in a line that was cut from the final version of the screenplay. Initially, after telling Megamind, who was then disguised as Bernard, that Metroman had never been her type, she added that she’d always preferred brains over brawn. That is interesting because intelligence is certainly something the former supervillain has in abundance. In a previous Fan Theory Thursday post, Why Kidnap Roxanne, we explored the likelihood of Megamind’s clearly ingenious species being naturally attracted to intellect. The thing is that he may not have been the only one. Merriam-Webster defines the term sapiosexual as someone who experiences “sexual or romantic attraction to highly intelligent people.” As you can guess from the mere fact that this word exists, it is fully possible for some humans to possess this inborn predisposition. Many fans believe that Roxanne Ritchi is, indeed, a sapiosexual, and this may be one reason why she would fall head-over-heels for a super-genius, alien or otherwise. In fact, as discussed in How Smart is Megamind, the blue man may quite literally be the smartest person on Earth, making him extremely alluring to someone already attracted by brilliance.
Tumblr media
Indeed, according to fan theories, several things about Roxanne’s character support this idea. She was originally imagined as an investigative reporter, so she’s obviously not stupid. She appears to dislike Hal not based upon his appearance but rather due to his lack of intelligence and his constant harassment. Perhaps the most telling evidence, however, comes from comparing her reactions to Megamind and his former nemesis. As mentioned before, Metroman is supposed to be most people’s idea of masculine perfection. Simply look at the way his fans, especially the female ones, behave during the opening of his museum. Add to this the fact that he is largely based on Superman and Elvis Presley—both of whom were, at one time, considered extremely handsome—and we can safely assume that Metroman is supposed to be some sort of Adonis. He’s also wealthy, famous, and powerful; three qualities that many people might consider great advantages in a potential boyfriend. Nonetheless, Roxanne Ritchi shows no interest at all in him.
Conversely, while dating Megamind in his guise as “Bernard,” the woman’s attention—and perhaps her heart—seem to be captured by his conversation, intellect, wit, and humor. She initially begins spending time with him because she believes him to possess expert knowledge concerning Megamind as well as enough intelligence to help her decipher the supervillain’s plan. She clearly enjoys having long conversations with him, laughing at his humorous stories, and reading books together in a library. Granted, the last was done for research purposes in the film, but the Bad Blue Brilliant comics show Megamind and Roxanne planning a date at a library after the blue man has become a hero. Obviously a shared love of books was something Roxanne liked about him. It appears that such traits attracted the reporter while riches and model-perfect looks couldn’t.
Of course, Roxanne rejects the former villain after she learns who he really is, but one Megamind fan theory suggests that that was almost certainly not because of him, but rather because of his actions. It makes sense. She is hurt and infuriated that he lied to her, and she makes her objections to some of his past behaviors known in no uncertain terms. However, when considering the charges she lays at his proverbial doorstep, it’s clear that what she cannot abide is his criminal behavior. She accuses him of murder, taking control of the city, and tricking her. Furthermore, she seems convinced that his only purpose in disguising himself was to toy with her emotions for his own sadistic amusement.
As the film progresses, however, she realizes that he did not actually kill Metroman and that he was sincere about their relationship. That, in turn, removes many of her objections and creates room for her love to grow once more. Indeed, when Megamind, obviously upset, mentions their breakup while they are driving to Metroman’s hideout, Roxanne briefly displays a sorrowful expression before apparently hardening her resolve and slamming on the breaks. (This was likely because she still thought the former villain guilty of murder.) Furthermore, during this unused clip cut from the final film, while taunting his captive, Titan refers to Megamind as Roxanne’s boyfriend, and she doesn’t correct him. Moments later, when he tells the woman to summon her hero, she doesn’t hesitate to issue a heartfelt plea to Megamind. When she sees the blue man make his grand entrance, the look on Roxanne’s face says clearly that she knew he would come. When she believes Megamind to be wounded, Roxanne weeps, and when he, at last, takes up the position of Defender, she kisses his cheek. It seems the woman has grown to trust and love the former Master of All Villainy.
It’s What’s Inside That Counts
Megamind’s intelligence is likely not the only reason Roxanne finds herself falling for him. Many fan theories suggest that his personality was also a driving factor. As mentioned before, he is funny and likable during their dates. When they ride bikes together, he’s clearly having fun, and that makes him fun to be around. While dining out, just before the kiss and the holowatch’s malfunction, he obviously charms her. Even before that, however, the blue man seems to display some very positive traits. His mourning his nemesis, laughing with Minion, and playing with the brainbots all evince a kind heart hidden beneath the black leather and spikes. That same trait continues to appear throughout the film. Later in the narrative, during Titan's attack, Megamind displays a concern for the people of Metro City despite those same people having ostracized him all his life. He is manifestly not as evil as he tries to appear. In fact, his treatment of his damsel offers further proof of this. While he has Roxanne tied up in his Lair as bait for Metroman, it becomes obvious that Megamind’s so-called doom devices have been carefully calibrated not to actually harm the woman, and she seems to know it as she shows no fear. She even seems to enjoy her situation sometimes. When Megamind makes a veiled Star Wars reference, Roxanne smirks as if she’s trying not to laugh.
Tumblr media
Thus it appears extremely likely that, from the start of the movie, the reporter already knew Megamind was too good a person to actually hurt her and it seems she appreciated his geeky humor. This is hardly surprising. According to the prequel comic, The Reign of Megamind, he has had more than 600 failed plots and Roxanne has been his compulsory guest of honor for many of them. Consider how much time for interaction that must have afforded them before the cameras started rolling. Even if Roxanne was only awake for an average of half an hour before each actual battle began, that would still mean that she spent roughly 300 hours alone in Megamind and Minion’s company. To put it in perspective, that’s twelve-and-a-half days! It seems nearly impossible that Roxanne could spend the equivalent of nearly two weeks in Megamind’s company without some of his charm, kindness, and humor showing through. This is quite possibly another reason for her evident attraction.
That’s not all. As mentioned in the post What Sort of Hero Will Megamind Be, the blue man lists several qualities necessary for a Defender while discussing the topic in the Metroman Museum. Although he doesn’t seem to recognize it at the time, he actually displays all of them with the exception of his former adversary's DNA. Strength? The fact that Megamind breaks a saw on Titan’s face while punching him indicates that the former villain is far more physically powerful than he looks, and his ability to remain calm and think under extreme pressure suggests that he has serious willpower. Determination? Megamind talks about learning from his many defeats, and the simple fact that he continued to get up and try again after losing more than 600 times shows that he certainly doesn’t give up easily. Courage? The alien genius goes to Roxanne for help in finding Titan’s weakness rather than fleeing despite Titan’s attempt to kill him. Afterward he puts his life on the line to save Roxanne from the new villain—and that’s after facing a superpowered foe for years. Whatever else he may be, no one can argue that Megamind isn’t brave.
Finally, there’s also Megamind’s industriousness. Imagine how many inventions he must have constructed over the years… There would doubtlessly be hundreds! Everyone one of them had to be not only built but also designed and tested. How many hours of plans, calculations, schematics, calibrations, and labor go into each one? It's unclear, but what is certain is that, despite clearly knowing how to have fun, the blue man just as obviously understands the value of hard work. It’s doubtful that laziness is a vice he has ever suffered from.
Tumblr media
So, why is Roxanne Ritchi attracted to Megamind? While we may never know how physically desirable she finds him—although fans speculate that, based on their relationship, she must find him handsome—the blue man possesses plenty of other beguiling virtues. Alien or not, Roxanne obviously finds his intelligence and personality too alluring to ignore, and as soon as he embraced goodness rather than behaving in destructive ways she could not condone, she gave him her heart. If you consider it, that really isn’t shocking at all. If any one of us were courted by a person who was smart, funny, courageous, kind, charming, hardworking, fun-loving, and strong, would we remain unaffected? Or would we, like the movie’s heroine, tumble head-over-heels into love? In the end, it’s little wonder that Roxanne fell for the new Defender of Metro City. It would have been more surprising if she hadn’t.
That concludes this week’s Fan Theory Thursday! I hope you enjoyed it!

The promised essay has arrived.
TLDR:
Megamind = ND Outcast
Metro Man = Burnt Out Gifted Kid
Megamind and Metro Man are both neurodivergent (or at any they rate represent neurodivergence). However, they each represent different aspects of the neurodivergent experience.
Metro Man is the Savant, the superhuman who can do what other people would never even dream of. His human appearance allows him to hide (or mask) his alien features, passing them off as really cool traits while hiding any and all potential negatives. In fact, he's barely even seen as human. Both the world itself and large chunks of the narrative protray him as not just superhuman, but almost godlike. Few characters, if any treat him as an actual person with needs and wants, which is a common treatment with characters that fall into the Savant trope (for instance, Sherlock is treated ths way by most of the people he knows).
In short, Metroman is the gifted kid who never learned how to be normal because it was never an option he was given. He was always put on a pedestal. He was better than everyone, above everyone. Although told he could do anything, he was never really given actual choices. He was given a box to fit in and rules to follow. He is the "high-functioning" neurodivergent who is accepted by society because he makes himself palable by hiding who he really is.
Eventually, the job he was given grows old. He finally realizes that he doesn't enjoy the life he was forced into, so he has a crisis and rejects it. He leaves behind the neurotypical-presenting, masked version of himself, because it was never actually him to begin with. (In a way Metroman truly died, because the Metroman persona was the masked version of himself.) He doesn't know who is, only who he can't pretend to be any longer.
Megamind, however, is the Troublemaker, the one that nobody knows what to do with. He is not told what the rules are, just punished when he breaks them. He is unable to hide his differences, so he has no hope of blending in and quickly loses hope of being accepted at all. He was always an example of what not to do, what not to be, how not to be a person. He's the neurodivergent that's the butt of every joke and doesn't know why. He is failed by every adult in his life.
Eventually he rejects the neurotypical world and forms his identity around being the outcast-freak-loser with no friends and wasted potential. But he does have potential; his abilities look different from everyone else's. He has traits and gifts and flaws they will never understand. He struggles with pitfalls they will never come across. He's the gifted kid that learned not to be normal because "normal" was never an option for him.
Both of these characters fall outside the realm of 'normalcy'. It's just that one was revered for it and the other was reviled.

i’m genuinely of the belief that the megamind sequel/tv show was meant to premiere on nickelodeon in like 2011 alongside their other spinoff shows, but then got shelved after the movie flopped financially and has been sitting around in some archive gathering dust until peacock decided to release it as “new content.”
like, can we just look at the visual evidence alone?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he fits right in with this lineup. peacock, i’m onto you

[HEADCANON/FAN THEORY]
The Incredibles, Monsters Vs. Aliens, Megamind and the Despicable Me series are all set in the same shared universe as each other.
This is something that I've been thinking about for a while just for fun and even though I can't find any clear connections, this is still a headcanon that I have and hopefully I can lay it out the best that I can for anyone who reads this.
I can perfectly see these movies all sharing the same 'verse as they surprisingly have quite a lot in common such as the following:
• All movies share the same visual aesthetic to them whether it'd be the animation style, character designs and slick, high-polished looks.
• All movies serve as a deconstruction albeit lovingly on the superhero, sci-fi, monster, supervillain, spy genres.
• All movies focus on unlikely, unexpected or unconventional main protagonists who go up against the odds while at the same time clearly growing as characters with clear defined arcs.
• All movies definitely share the same type of witty, almost cynical and dry senses of humor and banter the characters in them all have including a self-awareness of the specific genres they're in.
• All movies most certainly have villains who as goofy as they can get actually serve as actual genuine threats.
I even came up with a full timeline to map out how this universe goes from one to the other:
1965 - 1976: Both Minions and Minions: The Rise Of Gru happen which ultimately set everything in motion for this universe.
1977: An infant Megamind and Metro Man land on Earth after their planets are both destroyed.
1989: After multiple lawsuits kickstarted by Mr. Incredible, the ban on Supers is placed and all the heroes go into hiding.
2004: 15 years later, The Incredibles happen thus beginning a new, modern age of superheroism and supervillany.
2009: Monsters Vs. Aliens occur bringing attention to the many monsters that the U.S. Government have been hiding from us for decades.
2010: Megamind happens taking things in a completely unexpected turn as a villain becomes a hero.
2011 - 2013: The events of Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2 and Despicable Me 3 happen in a row and solidifies this new age as once again another villain changes sides.
Now all we have next is Despicable Me 4.

So, fun detail I just noticed about Megamind:
Famously, throughout the film Megamind mispronounces certain words, most notably: "hello" ("olo"), "Metro City" ("Metrocity") and "school" ("shool").
Like many fans, I'd attributed this and other oddities— like not knowing what a window is— to his unconventional upbringing and general social isolation. His speech sounds a lot like the way people pronounce words that they've only seen written down, so maybe he just hasn't had enough practice talking to other people out loud.
Lovely theory, very angsty, makes sense that this would be what the film-makers intended.
Except…
You know who doesn't seem to have this problem with pronunciation? And who in fact attempts to correct Megamind's pronunciation of various words more than any other character?
Fucking Minion.
Minion was there for literally every step of Megamind's childhood. They were raised on Earth together and went through seemingly the exact same experiences. Yet somehow Minion came out the other end knowing how to answer the phone and what a window is and why people use codes, while Megamind didn't.
And I am just so fascinated as to why.
Top three theories:
1. Megamind isn't actually mispronouncing words due to lack of practice, but rather for some other reason.
Maybe there's something up with his ability to hear certain sounds, or his alien anatomy makes it harder to pronounce them. Maybe he's neurodivergent (I mean, he definitely is, but maybe that fact is affecting his speech).
2. Megamind is mispronouncing things due to lack of practice, but there's something about Minion that makes him need less practice to pick up new languages.
Possibly as part of their protective role, his species has advanced language acquisition programmed in so they can act as translators. Else, while Minion and Megamind landed on Earth together, it's not 100% clear whether they were actually at the same age/developmental stage when that happened. If Minion was an adult (or older child) when he became fluent in English, he might have consciously focused more on accurate pronunciation than Megamind did.
3. Megamind is mispronouncing things due to lack of practice, but Minion is getting more practice than him.
This is… honestly the theory with the most evidence behind it. Like, we know that Minion isn't in jail at the start of the film, so he's clearly mot spending the same amount of time in solitary confinement that Megamind is.
He also appears to be in charge of providing Megamind with the resources needed to carry out his plans, which would presumably require him to communicate with scrap merchants, crocodile breeders and Romanian outlet store owners (among others) on the regular.
And like… if he's not getting thrown in jail whenever Megamind does, and Megamind is spending a fair amount of time on the inside, then Minion has to be doing something to pass the time. He's clearly a bit of an extrovert, and seems to take more pleasure in interacting with people than Megamind does.
It seems unlikely that he'd spend all his time sitting in the Evil Lair waiting for Megamind contact him or escape. So what does he do?
I find it both sweet and hilarious to imagine that Minion actually does have his own social circle outside of Megamind.
Minion goes to DnD on the second Tuesday of every month.
Minion gets advice on making costumes for Megamind from his weekly sewing circle.
Minion has been going to university online for the past eight years and is currently working towards his PhD in Marine Biology.
Minion is a semi-regular at Metrocity Night Clubs.
Minion does volunteer work sometimes with kids at the Metrocity hospital.
Megamind has barely any idea about any of this. Like, he knows Minion goes places at various times.
He knows that when he's rampaging through the streets Minion will sometimes stop to wave hello to various people that Megamind has never met. He's seen the half-orc paladin costume that Minion made for DnD.
But he's never really asked about it, and Minion has never seen the need to tell him. So long as Minion's happy, Megamind's happy, and so long as Megamind's happy, Minion is happy.
Meanwhile Roxanna, post-movie, has to grapple with the fact that sometimes she'll go to visit her boyfriend only for him to ask if they can go out for dinner instead because Minion's book club is meeting in the Evil Lair, and he's been gently encouraged not to come back after what he said to Helen about her (wrong) opinions on To Kill A Mockingbird.

Aight, I'll ask. Monsters vs. Aliens with Megamind? If it's not too much trouble?
It's more of a fan theory than like a fic idea or anything, and I'm surely not the first person to mention this, but two other ppl asked about it so I digress --
Quick recap of the first couple minutes of Megamind: Megamind (and Metroman) were both shuttled off of dying planets by their parents a la Superman. Megamind was also given Minion, a fish with some kind of satellite implant, and told Minion would "take care of him".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Minion's existence here implies two things: one, that Megamind's planet hosted more species than just the blue humanoids Megamind is a member of; and two, that these species (as well as whatever other species existed with them) have a hierarchal relationship. Given that Megamind's planet is also very blue, and what little architecture we see is wide-open and curvilinear, we can also theorize a bit about Megamind's species being amphibious or semi-aquatic. Megamind's incredible intellect and predisposition to engineering also seems to have a precedent on his homeworld: a supercomputer and some out-of-focus machinery are shown in close proximity to baby Megs' crib, implying that his people were a highly industrial species relying on advanced technology.
Now consider Gallaxhar's design from Monsters vs. Aliens.
Tumblr media
Distended cranium, blue (indigo, but still) skin, purplish flush on his ears implying red blood and black eyebrows – all features Megamind's species has. He's even got the glittery white clothing and high collar that Megamind's parents wear. Now of course, Gallaxhar also has considerably different features – he's in the 7-8 foot range, his head is much taller than those of Megs' species, four eyes instead of two, and six tentacles instead of two legs. It's highly possible that hierarchal scale, larger craniums and extra limbs/eyes were prized features on Megamind's world – more brainpower and ability to multitask, which are both ideal in industrial cultures.
So extrapolating off of our theories on Megamind's planet, it's possible that Gallaxhar is of a species that dominated over Megamind's before their planet was destroyed.
Consider, further, this bit of Gallaxhar's backstory:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, Megs' planet was pulled into a black hole, it didn't have the relatively easier destruction of a core meltdown. But we're never given a good ceiling for the abilities at Gallaxhar's disposal, and "destroyed" could mean anything from "I caused a black hole to happen" to "I knew it was happening and decided not to warn anybody". (You could go with the latter option if you wanted the Superman callbacks in Megs' backstory to hold out.)
What does this mean for Megs? Personally I'm given to think the events of Monsters vs. Aliens happened before the events of Megamind, since MvA came out a year before. And Megamind seems to have eidetic (or at least very clear) memory of his homeworld – I wouldn't put it past him to have scrounged the wreckage of Gallaxhar's ship both for parts and for answers about himself.
Especially where his de-gun comes in. What is that blue glowing stuff it uses, anyway?
Tumblr media
Trace quantonium, perhaps?
Tumblr media
Other ideas for an actual crossover are as follows:
-A legal loophole of some sort prevents Area Fifty-Something from appropriating Megs and Minion since they were already in federal incarceration (The Metro City Prison warden and General Monger have had more than a few annoyed calls over the years)
-Roxanne and Derek are related (they have similar coloring, slim figures and squared-off jawlines. Derek is like, Roxie's cousin who's unashamedly trying to replicate her success) or they at the very least know of each other
-In the same vein of thinking, Roxie taking Susan out to lunch sometime
-Megamind & Dr. Cockroach team up (but quickly get more preoccupied with Minion becoming drinking buddies w the Missing Link)
-Somehow I want B.O.B. and Metroman to meet and B.O.B. fucking loves MM's music. They're himbo kings
-Also B.O.B. reading Hal to filth
-Again, I don't have like, actual fic ideas for this, but I do at some point want to draw Susan holding Megs in the palm of her hand because that would be incredibly cute.

Ok I gave it a laser canon. Very cool.
Tumblr media
Po3 eventually gets tired of your shit and shoots you if you lose too many times. It's funny because po3 is the least violent of the Scrybes,, the only one who doesn't torture people or kill people. It's just an asshole.
<<CLICK FOR QUALITY WOOPWOOP>>
A lil bit of rambling below the cut lol
This makes me think of a mini au idea, kind of a post-game/arg scenario, considering po3 was the reason why Inscryption was released to the public in the first place.
There are some theories that our version of the game is just footage of Luke's playthrough,, and that there will be a DLC to come out since that's what the arg was all leading to- which I highly doubt, so I don't agree with the theory per see.
<<Warning I'm gonna just incoherently ramble here cuz I have a lot of disconnected ideas>>
That being said if there WERE a DLC-- it would be,, more involved with the relationships between the Scrybes and why exactly they hate each other, or how they became Scrybes in the first place with in-game lore... ((also Leshy explaining why he made that deal with Kaycee))
But for AU sake, I will do what I want because why not.
It would start with po3 wanting to get revenge on those who killed it and attempted to delete all it's progress, wages war on all the other regions of Scrybes in their world- fully convinced it would win. Whoever won the war would be the superior game creator. It was bound to happen eventually, so nobody was surprised when Po3 reappeared- more pissed off than usual. It would be like that scene in Megamind where he's making an entrance, fully intending to take over the world.
Tumblr media
Thusly, shit would hit the fan lol
Ofc Po3 would attack Leshy's ((Nation?? Mans owns a whole country??? How does this stuff work??)) and completely destroy his land, taking over the woods and creating bases there.
Eventually, maybe Grimora and Leshy would team up? Considering they are both symbolic of life and death, and would seemingly get along. I like to believe with Leshy's world-building and Grimora's storytelling, they would mesh very well.
Magnificus would take a little while to join, since he wants to like,,,, win,,,,,,,,,,, so,,,,,,, why not. I don't think this bush person realizes that he's not the main villain here, but he wants to be, so he does his own thing.
The thing is, the reason they never waged war before was that the OLD_DATA taught them all what war did to people- which is why they just kept their distance, but Po3 had just about enough with being treated like it's idea of a good game was stupid or whatever. With the deletion of the game, Leshy's take over, and Po3's first take over, everyone is pretty tense- their hatred for each other is extreme.
Over a fucking card game lmfao
Chaos insures, but I don't know the extent of it. I haven't brained it up yet. But yeah, there's that.

Deltarune “His Heaven” AU
Wow, another AU? After such a long time of the reign of the Bunnies? I'm not even talking about Benevolent anymore…
But yes, it's time for me to make an AU on the second chapter of Deltarune, because these games mean a lot to me, and I also really like Spamton, so we scroll on. This is not one of the routs like 1997/Mike Route or Salt Route, but rather a direct continuation, so hold on tight — it will be a long read, at the same time similar and not to fan fiction, but with illustrations.
Tumblr media
A month has passed since Susie and Kris visited Cyber World. They have been through a lot, found more Dark Worlds, closed Fountains there, met new monsters and took them with them to Castle Town, which they continue to visit. But Noelle and Berdley never found out if it was true that they had been to one of these worlds, and Susie and Kris successfully hide the truth from them.
For one of the projects set by Alphys, Noelle returns to the Library for the umpteenth time, to that very computer room. She has been there many times since then, but each time she hopes that by opening these doors she will find herself in Cyber World, which, of course, never happened. Having sat down on the computer, she realizes that a virus has started in it — there were a billion open tabs, pop-up windows and flashing names. She was about to start fixing it or call the librarian for help, but out of the corner of her eye she noticed something. Noelle leaned on the back of a chair and looked at the whole picture. The screen, in the style of a Megamind, built a Cyber World silhouette out of all these windows, but the buildings looked a little different. Looking closely at the spam, Noelle saw the inscriptions on them and familiar terms/ words: "Dark Dollars", "Addisons", and the name of the world itself.
Tumblr media
She packed up her things in a hurry, carefully turned off the computer without touching anything on it and ran back to School, where Susie and Chris were serving a punishment for skipping all lessons again in Castle Town, and cleaned the whole classroom because of this (Toriel is extremely dissatisfied with Kris). Noelle talks about the "virus", to which Susie refuses, says that this is not true, Noelle thought it was just ordinary spam, but Kris stops them both. Since Kris can't speak, they write everything on paper. Kris tells Noelle the whole truth, because of which, surprisingly, she did not faint, but just tensed up and braved. She says that Cyber World may be in danger, but Susie again refuses, saying that it's no longer their business, but Kris on the contrary agrees and no matter what, they go back to their dearly beloved closet, where they are stopped by none other than Berdley! They understand that he will not leave them so easily, and they will need help, so Susie grabs him by the collar and takes him with her, telling everything briefly along the way. Before he could recover, they fell back into the Dark World.
In Castle Town, they are met by Lancer. The company comes to Ralsei, who is not very happy that Berdley and Noelle now know about his world, but decides that this is a conversation for later, when they began to tell the real reason why they came. This really turns out to be a problem.
Usually Dark Worlds are difficult to find for ordinary people and monsters. They are well hidden and none of them leaks into the real world. What Noelle saw completely contradicts this and cannot be possible, that is, someone or something has started to change everything there. In this case - reprogram. People and monsters who are not “chosen ones” will be able to get there if this continues. Ralsei asks if there is a possibility that someone could have stayed there. The Dark Worlds don't disappear even after the Fountains are closed, so it may still be possible. The company can't remember anything, but Kris suddenly came up with only one name - Spamton. In theory, he should have disappeared after their battle together, but Kris comes up with an idea — during the battle they cut off Spamton’s strings, which was supposed to free him and so it happened! And after the battle passed, Kris could no longer use the suddenly appeared yellow soul — they simply did not have it. In their head, this could only mean one thing - Spamton has achieved his goal, now has a human soul, is free, [BIG SHOT] and [a Real Boy].
If a monster is given a human soul, then it acquires incredible strength (take the same Asriel). The monster becomes capable of many things and alone, especially with Spamton, who was strong enough before, it will definitely be impossible to stop. Ralsei wasn't even sure if he, Susie and Kris could handle it, but Noelle reassured him, because now they have additional help. And, of course, Rouxls joined the team without asking, just like Lancer, but he was, unlike Kaard, welcome. Already heading for the exit, Kris felt someone's eyes on them. Turning to where he thought they were looking at them, they saw Shawn, who slyly smiled at them and winked, nodding. Kris immediately remembered that they still had the Devil's Knife and Jewil's Tail, which they never used. It will be useful to them.
Tumblr media
A month has passed since the Fountain was closed, and the little body of Spamton is still hanging on the remnants of strings in the basement of the Castle. For him, this time lasted much longer. He didn't even want to exist anymore — the last Spamton, motivated and dreaming of the best, has long been gone. But he, after so long, decided to get off. He didn't know what was pulling him, but for some reason he suddenly felt stronger, even in his depressed state. And it didn't take a moment for Spamton to realize that all this time he was what he wanted to become — real and free. But all this time alone drove him crazy (both before the basement and now). With all this power that he received, he decided that he would change the entire Cyber World, reprogram, create everything that had already gone - anew.
There was a huge computer in the Queen's Castle, with which she managed the whole City, created new projects, new residents and new buildings, expanding her "database" (ah, how good I am, even now I make bad puns). And Spamton decided to use this computer too. The city now looked the same as during the battle with Neo Spamton, but still empty. Now Spamton was trying to create a company for himself, but it only came out of his own memory. For the record, living in the trash, Spamton began to be afraid of everyone. No one wanted to talk to him, his own family looked at him with contempt. The world beyond the trash seemed to him simply scary. Therefore, the inhabitants of Cyber World now looked like Amalgamates - not very well. Limbs were missing in some places, attacks were completely different and none of them either spoke at all or rarely. And all the new residents were on strings. They're not real after all.
But Spamton still felt more confident by the minute. And these emotions seemed to charge his soul, making him even more real — from a small monster, he could return to the body he had when he was with the Addisons, and could become even bigger, even more like a person, completely someone new. (As on the contrary — there is no confidence, etc., he becomes smaller again. Take as an example Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle, who, full of emotions and confidence, could become younger, but losing it all, turned into an old woman again).
After leaving school, the company (already consisting of Susie, Noelle, Berdley and Kris with Ralsei, Rouxls and Lancer in their pocket) was met by a second human from their hometown. A human no one has ever seen before. Everyone, of course, was surprised, because Kris was always the only human. The man introduced himself as Mike (here we go), and apologized for actually following them. He heard that the company was talking about Dark Worlds and Spamton and said that he had been there and knew Spamton personally. Kris remembered that Spamton did sometimes mention Mike, but not in the best way, so Kris began to be suspicious of the second human.
Tumblr media
Having written notes to their parents about a certain trip with friends, the guys returned to the library again, but ... there was no entrance anywhere? Noelle started to panic a little at first - Ralsei didn't talk about this, but Mike just smiled and went to the far closet, where there were wires and other stuff for computers. The guys came up to him. When he opened the closet, there was a void inside — a portal to the Dark World (there should be a joke about the fact that all the Dark Worlds will be in the closets and about skeletons in the closet, but only Berdley will laugh). The guys jumped into Cyber World again. Once there, and having pulled out Ralsei, they realize that, despite the fact that the Fountain is closed and the entrance for them can now be an exit too, they cannot get out. They're stuck. Panicked at first, but calmed down after, the team headed for the city itself. Cyber World was bright, even too bright — everything was flashing and attracted by big signs (epileptic Hell), but the world still remained gloomy. There were almost no monsters on the streets, and if there were, they looked strange and didn't want to talk.
The battles with all of them were hardcore versions, so for the first time we are introducing new things in this AU that make it more like a description of some kind of rout: Kris, Susie and Ralsei always go into battle first. If Ralsei has fallen, he is replaced by Noelle with similar abilities, and if Susie has fallen, she is replaced by Berdley with, too, similar attacks. Mike doesn't fight most of the time, but he can still be a substitute for Kris, but weak. Rouxls and Lancer appear later and now do not turn into stone.
The company unanimously decided that it was necessary to head to the Castle, since that was the last place they saw Spamton. The closer they got to the Castle, the stronger the monsters and traps became, and they had to constantly stop, which caused them to waste too much time. At some point, they begin to barely cope (old age is not a joy). After another encounter with something that the team could not cope with, Rouxls and Lancer come out and it becomes a little easier with them. They join the battles through [ACT]. But out of the battle they walk along with everyone else. It happened not far from the trash cans, at the Addison stores with the Addisons themselves, who were now hanging on wires like Werewires.
At some point, the team had to split up because of one of the traps and they lost each other. The teams were divided into: - Team 1: Chris, Susie, Ralsei and Lancer - Team 2: Rouxls, Noelle, Berdley and Mike One day passed and they had to stay in one of the houses, and then move to the Castle in their own ways. The first team met Spamton before the other and even before the Castle — he more or less followed them and waited for their arrival. His goal was to imprison them all here to end his loneliness. Having refused, the first fight with Spamton begins. Since now they don't have someone who can replace them, the fight becomes more difficult. Kris tries to come up with something that can help and remembers that sly smile of Shawn’s. They take out Jevil’s Knife from the inventory and swing it at Spamton, but missed, which caused him to laugh. Spamton again used one of his attacks, which was supposed to finish off his opponents, but it was blocked. In front of him stood none other than another goblin, but now in a joker's hat and also terribly strong. He certainly likes Chaos and that's all he wants, but this Chaos here is not to his taste, so he chooses the side of the Lightners. Spamton immediately disappeared from sight. The teams reunite again, surprised by the replenishment, as well as Jevil himself, whom only Rouxls knew of them all, but, despite the lack of likeness, resigned himself to it.
Tumblr media
Despite the differences, the company is still becoming more and more friends and finding common languages and goals. At first, Jevil was only for his own benefit — by removing the Spamton from the road, he can take all the fun for himself, but after seeing how the Lightners and the rest are having fun on the way, aren’t being sad and bravely go into battle, he began to like this company. Berdley was skeptical of everyone anyway. Unlike Noelle, he didn't trust people so quickly and got used to people, but most of all Mike bothered him — quiet, by himself, as if he wasn't even on their team, but just a passing stranger. He rarely ever entered into conversations or did anything in general. He just... was. Berdley decided that it would be his own and personal mission to follow the second human, but Rouxls noticed it. He reassured Berdley that there was no way for him to escape anyway — they still have common goals and no matter what, in the end they will still end up in the same situation, and that is, it makes no sense for him to retreat or attack us. Berdley didn't quite trust these words, but still decided to get behind Mike for a while. Mike heard and noticed everything.
Tumblr media
(Look at them, my babies) (khm where were we) (ah yes)
Meanwhile, Spamton is getting stronger from emotions. He found his NEO body and took its power, merging with it, as if adding weapons and protection to the inventory. He now had huge wings like the robot itself, and he used his arms like cannons in some attacks. And that was the minimum. He realized that he could use almost anything and now began to use not only his usual attacks, but also "his puppets” - the rest of the monsters from Cyber World, who completely obey him. He began to manage his powers better, learned even more about himself than he needed to. He had a win-win plan that only two things could spoil, but they seemed impossible to him — either another monster with a human soul would appear, or someone who achieved the same strength and hunts for more.
Tumblr media
Next time, facing a team of Lightners and co. in battle, Spamton began to get bored of it and he separated Kris from everyone else, putting a strong barrier and walls around the two of them. All he cared about now was the power of the human soul, driving him crazy and making him dependent. The others started panicking while Kris took all the punches. No one knew how to get through the wall, and the spells didn't work. Mike comes forward when Lancer proposed the theory that since the three of them (Kris, Mike, Spamton) have human souls, can Mike break this barrier. He had too much confidence in his abilities and only now did Jevil and Rouxls realize that this was not a human at all. With one touch, the one pretending to be Mike smashed the wall, immediately interrupting the unfair battle between Spamton and Kris. He ordered Ralsei and Susie to pick up Kris, and from Jevil came the order to run!
At this moment, Kris, for the first time after a long time, begins to speak again (the voice disappeared due to mental trauma in an accident). The first word was the name of Spamton, which Kris shouted for him to unfreeze, come to his senses, after a huge skull appeared right behind him, charging purple fire, ready to shoot him through. The second word was the name of the one pretending to be Mike—Gaster. Kris knew that just calling him wouldn't stop him, but it could attract his attention, distract him, but it didn't work either. Kris wanted to cry for the first time in a long time.
Tumblr media
A lot of hands grabbed Spamton to prevent him from escaping or even moving, and he was shot. Although he was real, he had no blood, for some unknown reason. The Gaster Blaster shattered Spamton into pieces - arms, cheeks, legs, eyes - everything was separate. Gaster smiled at Kris, and then, after silently examining everyone else, disappeared into thin air before anyone could hit him. Silence hung over the whole team. On the one hand, they defeated Spamton, but on the other — now they have another problem, more serious, and they have no idea how to solve it. It was possible to assemble a team against Spamton and his puppets, it was possible to persuade him, it was possible to somehow win, but it was possible. Just seeing how Gaster destroyed Spamton with one blow, they realized that their new goal would not be so easy. They need something stronger. Jevil joked that Spamton would help. The joke turned out to be bad and even sad.
The holographic sun was setting behind the horizon reprogrammed by Spamton, and the team went to hide in the rooms where Susie and Kris were previously imprisoned. There was also the old Spamton’s room. At Kris' request, Spamton was put together piece by piece and carried with them. Chris went into his old room. It was covered with posters somehow related to Spamton, there were a lot of documents and unopened letters on the table. Between them there were advertisements, invitations and letters from friends, which, it was obvious, the former Spamton did not even try to open, but simply put aside. There was an open closet opposite, in which there were a dozen identical tuxedos, shirts that differed quite a bit in color, but they were all gray or white anyway, and somewhere in the back there was a pair of green pants, like the Addison’s. Next to it was an unmade bed in the form of a car, and next to it was a bedside table with a wilted bouquet and an old telephone, the receiver of which was hanging down. Kris just simply hung it back up. There was a notebook lying nearby and Kris had the courage to open it. Inside there were a lot of records about budgets, statistics, numbers and expenses, and then something that didn't quite fit — a drawing and a note. The drawing depicted Spamton as he appeared before them the last time - tall, more human, and with large colored wings, like Neo's. The note read - "Mike promised that at this rate I would become a [BIG SHOT]! And he was right! I've achieved everything with his help, but... something is missing, but I can't figure out what exactly. I haven't got to the end yet. To Heaven. My own." Kris closed the notebook.
He put the pieces of Spamton on the bed and carefully put them together like a puzzle, as if hoping that it would revive him. Nothing, of course, happened.
Tumblr media
The others began to enter the room. Kris was sure that it would not be possible to return him just like that, but he still had hope and ... determination. Some (Jevil, Rouxls and Susie) told them to leave Spamton — now they need to think about something else, about Gaster, and how to get him out of their way, because even without a human soul, this monster has incredible strength and is able, according to stories, to travel through alternate universes. Spamton cannot be returned, and the Lightners and the rest need to escape from here (that's just how, eh, smart pants?)(But Lee, you're writing AU, you should know)(Shut up and read on). But Chris didn't want to believe it. He put the glasses on Spamton like the last piece of a puzzle. A tear fell on them. Yes, Kris didn't know him for a long time and they fought with him most of the time (more like Spamton attacked, and Kris and the others tried to talk to him during breaks), but all the monsters of the Dark Worlds are something very dear to them and it hurts them just to think that something like this could happen to them. Ralsei and Susie stood beside Kris, comforting them. Everyone else settled in behind them. Kris touched Spamton's chest, where his soul should be— yellow. It should still be there. Gaster couldn't destroy it. Rouxls confirmed that it is impossible to destroy a soul, even if you have Gaster’s powers. Soul power is something that Gaster can only dream about and what actually hunts for. If he's missing, it means he didn't get the soul. Then why doesn't Spamton wake up? Maybe he's missing something? Maybe he gave up?…
Kris reached out to where their soul was. They pulled it out so often to get free. Now they want to free someone else, so they ask it, for the first time in their entire life together, to help. They, shaking, barely, pulled out their soul again, as if tearing out their own heart, and quickly, as if it were terribly heavy, struck the fist with which they held the Red Soul on Spamton’s chest, giving him his determination to awaken. This soul is still alive. Kris could barely stand, but they no longer had a soul — now it belonged to Spamton. In an instant, the pieces of his body were magnetized to each other, connecting the cracks like gold on marble. One of his eyes was white—finally his eyes matched the multicolored glasses. Spamton came to life, and immediately realized what Kris had done. He turned to them and thanked the one who gave him a soul, but said that Kris would need it more now — he had his own. He just needed a push in the right direction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After scaring the everloving marbles out the others like that, Kris returns their soul and they and Spamton return to the team. Spamton, of course, can't find the right words to apologize, but before he has time to say anything, he is interrupted and told to leave it for later — now they need a plan against Gaster, and now with the help of a monster with a human soul, they may have a chance. But first they have to find out where Gaster might be. Spamton put his help — he knows Cyber World, or, as he called it at some point, and as the others have called it since then - Virus World (another name for this AU by the way), like his ten fingers, if not everything in general. He showed where the secret passage to the main computer was located. Even if Gaster is not there - with the help of a computer, they will be able to find him. They all started moving towards their destination. They decided not to split up — it would be much safer that way. When they arrived at their destination, they did not find anyone at first. Spamton happily ran up to the computer and began typing an order to find their common enemy, but before he could finish writing the sentence, the monster he was looking for had already appeared in front of them all. No one was going to talk to him. It's pointless when it comes to Gaster. Spamton and Kris looked at each other, nodded to each other and started the fight. Now the command is built differently - previously available only through [ACT] Lancer and Rouxls stood shoulder to shoulder with everyone else, as did Jevil. The order used before still remained - Ralsei falls, Noelle replaces him, but now if Noelle falls, Rouxls replaces her. If Susie falls, and then Berdley, then Lancer replaces him. If Kris falls, then Jevil immediately replaces them. Spamton is always nearby, protecting them all and treating the others as soon as they fall, which is why the fight does not stop. After collecting enough TP, “whole” Spamton can be used — he uses the attacks [BIG SHOT] (Shot with a Yellow Soul, but causing more damage than when Kris used it) and [BIG DEAL] (Shoots Pipis with his cannon, which move faster than in a battle with him in the game). He deftly dodges attacks, flying on wings, and protects the others with them when he can.
Tumblr media
For a long time, Gaster deftly dodges blows and strongly attacks back, with the help of a large number of hands and blasters. He could repeat the attacks of others, but they were still not as strong, because they were not as real. Due to the constant attacks, at some point Gaster could no longer concentrate and loses his grip. The team deals him more and more damage. Before Gaster completely lost, he just disappears from sight and from the whole Virus World in general. They can finally all go home, but first they decided to sit down and take a little rest from such a long battle.
Ralsei still invites Spamton to Castle Town, which he cannot immediately agree to. Ralsei gives him some time to think, and Kris promises to visit him later to find out his decision. They disperse, leaving Spamton alone again. He looks around his world and begins to empty it again monster after monster, one advertisement and a pop-up window after another. The lights all over the Dark World began to turn off and remained in literal darkness. Spamton was sitting at the exit from the World, by the Fountain and wondering if he was worthy of another chance. Everyone else thought that it was true — he still helped them in the end and always wished only good things. He was just terribly lonely. And some (Ralsei, Noelle, Berdley, Rouxls and Kris) agreed that he deserved a second chance. The others just didn't participate in the decision — they didn't care a bit. But they changed their minds about Spamton, even though everyone still thought he was a bit of a weirdo. Kris soon returns to Spamton and still takes him with them to Castle Town. Arriving there, Spamton could not believe his eyes — this is what he wanted. A lot of monsters in one place, a lot of shops, everyone passed by and waved, greeting, paying attention to him (it didn't matter to him because of his strange appearance or not, the main thing was that they paid attention) (he came there in his little form btw ahah). Soon he was also found by the Addisons and accepted back into their family, which Spamton was more than happy about. He boasted to them that he could change his height and grow wings and was not ashamed of his cracks, but on the contrary was proud of them and said that they meant a lot to him, looking at Kris and the others from time to time.
Tumblr media
AND THAT'S IT! My AU ends on a good note. Of course, there is a lot in the middle that can be inserted — what happened during their journey to Virus World or after they returned to Castle Town. Maybe I'll also change something, but for now that's it!!
I will still post about this AU, sketch some scenes and so on. I'm definitely not going to throw it, sorry, sorry.
A little treat in the end.

FAN THEORY THURSDAY – Why Did Megamind Choose Hal?
Tumblr media
Yes, yes, I know, I'm late again. So sue me. (Don't really do that; you'll only be disappointed.) But at last, I am back!
If you are that one person who still insists reading these posts without having ever watched one of DreamWorks’ best animated movies, well, firstly, I have questions. Secondly, SPOILER WARNING!
Special thanks to Berry Marais for suggesting this, and I quote: “wickedly bad idea for the greater good of bad.” You’re amazing!
During yet another interesting discussion on the Megamind’s Evil Lair Discord, a fellow fan, Berry Marais, brought up an interesting point: if our favorite blue alien is supposed to be so incredibly smart, how did he not notice that Hal was literally the worst person in Metro City he could possibly imbue with superpowers? “I mean,” she went on to say. “Minion realized it at once and wanted to diffuse Hal as soon as possible. This was a serious case of not reading people.”
Is that all that it was? Could Megamind be a true super-genius yet also a completely inept judge of character? If so, why? Let’s take a look at what the evidence can tell us!
Initially, the blue man’s failure to recognize Hal’s obvious lack of heroic qualities seems oxymoronic, completely at odds with other aspects of Megamind’s character. This is not only because of his genius but also due to his background. Consider for a moment how the former villain was raised; as a child, he survived and even thrived while living in a high-security prison filled with adult criminals. As I’ve mentioned before in other posts, the alien child may have had the protection of some of those inmates—his “prison uncles,” as the fandom has charmingly named them, who we see teaching him when he is an infant—but by the time he was old enough to enter grade school, he had already been separated into a lonely cell.
Why does that matter? It may indicate that Megamind often had to rely on his own methods to keep both he and Minion safe. His success was likely based in part upon forming a terrifying reputation from a young age, (you can read more about that in The Warden,) but there was almost certainly more to it. In order to identify possible threats as well as potential allies, he would have needed to become an excellent judge of fellow prisoners’ characters. Although this is never stated outright, it’s difficult to imagine that the blue man would have protected himself and even climbed to the top of the criminal world without such insights. So why did that same skill fail him where Hal was concerned?
Perhaps the most obvious fan theory is that Megamind simply didn’t know Hal. As far as we know, he’d never interacted with the creepy cameraman before the latter was infused with Metroman’s DNA. (Many fans point to Megamind’s obvious attraction to Roxanne Ritchi coupled with the fact that he did not rain villainous wrath down upon her harassing stalker as possible evidence of this.) Indeed, in the original film script, Hal accidentally “saves” a mother and her baby, thus leading Megamind to assume he is a quintessentially Good Guy. Of course, that part was cut from the final version, but it nonetheless illustrates that the blue man clearly knew little or nothing about his homemade nemesis.
The next conjecture finds far more notable support in the movie itself. Starting during his school days, Megamind appears to develop a near-obsession with the concept of Good Versus Evil as well as with that of Destiny. These ideas help form his worldview and remain a driving force for the character throughout much of the film.
Tumblr media
Two things render those facts vital to this examination. Firstly, the blue man firmly believes that Hal has been chosen as his new nemesis by fate—he even says as much when Minion suggests it was a mere mistake—and he seems to possess an almost zealous conviction where destiny is concerned. Thus he might not only fail to question what he viewed as a predetermined outcome but also ignore any evidence contradicting it. Secondly, Megamind seems, throughout much of the movie, to have a nearly binary understanding of society. Many argue that it’s likely he feels people must fall into one of two categories: Good or Bad. Therefore, if he and other criminals are bad, then supposedly “normal” citizens must, by the process of elimination, be good. This concept may be combined with the previous hypothesis; although Megamind was probably adept at reading fellow lawbreakers, he may have lacked equal insight into regular people.
Indeed, the rules governing interactions within a prison or a criminal organization differ vastly from those dictating ordinary interactions on, for example, a city street. This brings us to our next supposition: it’s possible that, while he perfectly comprehended how to read other Bad Guys, the blue man may have been so unfamiliar with normal social norms that they were nearly alien to him. It’s not a far leap. Having been raised in prison and ostracized for the majority of his life, Megamind is unlikely to have ever been fully socialized. This means that the only cultural norms, so to speak, he would be deeply familiar with are those of the prison subculture. Judging the character of anyone outside of that group would be nearly as difficult for him as it would be for us to read a stranger in an unknown country.
There is a problem with this theory, however. Megamind and Minion were raised together, in the same circumstances, so why would Minion be better able to see Hal for what he was? Aside from the concepts already discussed, such as Megamind’s preoccupation with fate, there is another possible answer. The fishy henchman may have had more opportunity to observe ordinary society. One reason for this is that, while they did both spend a significant portion of their childhoods incarcerated, Megamind is the only one we ever see in jail as an adult. Whether because he was Metroman’s sole focus, because he regularly bought his friend time to escape, or, as some fans theorize, because he made it abundantly clear that messing with Minion would be extremely bad for a person’s health, the blue man alone seems to have endured punishment following his plots.
Tumblr media
This means that his henchfish may have had more time and opportunity to experience society. Furthermore, we know that Megamind and Minion both have holowatches—two of the disguise generators are used during the final battle with Titan—and we know that Minion likely donned his to go out in society more often. During the film, when Megamind lies about his date with Roxanne, claiming that he needs to “run a quick errand,” Minion reminds him that he doesn’t run errands. Yet someone must have taken care of such chores, and the most likely candidate is the fishy henchman himself. Therefore he may have had regular interactions with the people of Metro City while Megamind did not, giving Minion far better insight into humanity in general.
Both the film and other sources support this. According to The Analytical Couch Potato, an online entertainment magazine, director Tom McGrath described Megamind as “a villain who is really naive to the ways of the world, who never had a decent childhood.” He goes on to explain that this is why “everything’s new to this guy outside of his darkened Lair.” However, there are several times during the movie when Minion appears to have superior insight to the society around them. For example, when Megamind is enthused by the windows of the mayor’s office, Minion tells him what they are. Although a bit absurd—the blue man has to have seen windows before; even the Evil Lair has them, albeit old, thickly grimed ones—this scene and others like it were apparently intended to illustrate just how unfamiliar with normal life Megamind really is. However, Minion seems to be a good deal more knowledgeable, suggesting once more that he has greater experience with social interaction.
So, Minion may have been better able to recognize Hal’s unsuitability as a hero simply because he had spent more time among ordinary people and therefore had better comparative data. There is one more reason, however, why our favorite villain-turned-hero may not have easily seen what sort of person Hal really was. Surprisingly, it has to do with Megamind’s intellect. That’s right. While many would naturally assume that a genius should be better able to read people, there is some evidence that the opposite may be true.
According to an article by Dr. Roberta B. Ness in Psychology Today, geniuses are more likely to have difficulty relating to people, and can often even be antisocial. Interestingly, this piece focused specifically on inventive geniuses, which could certainly describe the blue alien, and stated that they can often become so focused on ideas and pursuits that they sometimes overlook people. “In the case of some geniuses, the most radically original thinking may have the greatest blind spot for human interactions,” Dr. Ness explained. Indeed, another article on Learning Mind takes it a step further, stating that highly intelligent people often have poor social skills and difficulty understanding other people. Due to tendencies such as overthinking everything, focusing on cerebral interests rather than social ones, and becoming disinterested in anyone who seems dull, geniuses can sometimes have a hard time comprehending and interacting with other individuals. This could be another reason why Megamind didn’t see that Hal was clearly a terrible choice for a new hero.
Interestingly, that might also help explain how the blue man could have been able to read people well enough to survive a childhood in prison yet have been completely blind to Hal’s faults. If you consider the issues discussed above, it becomes obvious that many of them are connected with focus. Ideas and curiosity will often hold a genius’s attention better than people—especially if they find those people too ordinary and boring—and even when they do socialize, their minds are likely to be engaged by overthinking their own responses rather than listening to others. However, this suggests that a genius can focus on reading people if that task becomes important enough to be prioritized.
In fact, we may actually see this occurring in the movie. While the former supervillain seems to have been entirely oblivious to Hal’s negative qualities at first, the more problematic the creepy cameraman becomes the better Megamind seems to be able to read him. After his supposed new nemesis fails to accept his public challenge, Megamind recognizes fairly quickly how best to enrage Hal, prompting him into their first battle. During their final fight, he comprehends his enemy even faster. Consider the scene during which Megamind is trying to run for the invisible car when Titan picks him up by the collar. It takes the blue man a mere second to not only formulate a plan, but judge exactly what he can say to make Hal propel him toward the unseen vehicle. If he had angered Titan too much, Megamind might have been incapacitated or ever killed; too little and his plan might not have worked. Yet he was able to pick the perfect balance to achieve his goal. It seems that because Hal had become a threat, he had become worthy of attention, and because he was worthy of attention, Megamind was able to focus on him and accurately predict his reaction.
Tumblr media
So, why did Megamind not initially see, as was so obvious to Minion, that Hal was decidedly not hero material? It may well have been a combination of nature—the predisposition of highly intelligent people to have poor social skills—along with nurture—the lack of experience interacting with people outside of criminal groups leading to false assumptions. Considering all of the proverbial cards stacked against him, it’s little wonder that the alien genius had difficulty understanding his short-term nemesis at first. However, it appears that our favorite blue hero does have the capacity to read people very well once they gain his full attention. That concludes this Fan Theory Thursday post! I hope you enjoyed it!

One of the things I'd kinda like to see in the Megamind show is more of him interacting with disabled people. His best friend, Minion, canonically can't breathe long out of water and also has no legs, both of which can definitely be considered disabilities in the context of how humans live. However, due to the nuerally integrated prosthetic that Megamind built, Minion is able to live a normal life.
Imagine that, but with other people, possibly even as part of his hero work. You want an eletric wheel chair that you can steer with your mind? He's literally already done that. You want a seeing eye brainbot? Here you go, with a custom harness. You want glasses that correct for color blindness? Hearing aids that look like cat ears? A jacket that senses when you're about to have a panic attack, will comfort you and calm you down, and that comes in blue dino print fabric? Megamind could do all of that.
Sure, I want to see him be a superhero. But I also want to see him be the hero that Metroman could never be. I want him to make a difference in individual lives, by giving people respect and dignity and total creative freedom when it comes to their disability aids.

I've been extremely anxious today because I started to think what if someday I just don't like Megamind anymore? What if I just don't want to read fics, enjoy about art, explore fan theories or write fanfiction anymore?
I'm literally freaking out because of the idea.
It maybe sounds crazy - and stupid.
But seriously - this movie saved my life.
Without this movie, I'd be dead.
Megamind saved my life.
He's my hero 💙
And that's why I don't want to forget him! EVER!

I want to watch the Mandalorian (pt. 1)
<FIRST> | <NEXT>
Live commenting my experience watching star wars for the first time:
(I really remember episode 1, so I'm gonna start with 2. This will also include the tv shows, and the like, so buckle in all!)
- yoda looks really animated, (future loop: along with Jar-Jar and a lot of the alien characters. it doesn’t look terrible when alone, but when you see them ‘interacting’ with real characters, they look fake and plastic-y. it doesn’t hold up really well in those parts, but elsewhere it blends better)
fury, though, looks super young, much better animation than in Captain Marvel. :p
Tumblr media
- I cant tell if the whole backshot of padme’s head is to admire the insane hairstyles, or to have a surprise that one of her handmaidens is actually there, not her.
ALSO, who thought attaching a vase to the back of her head was an excellent fashion choice? I thought we got rid of the elaborate hair-dos padme?
Tumblr media
- “dooku can’t assassinate anyone, its not in his character” is that famous last words? (future loop: there’s so many of those lines... -  “the chancellor doesn’t appear to be corrupt”,  “why do I have a feeling you’re going to be the death of me?”  that’s 3 lines in ~20 minutes that are only funny if you know the plot of episodes 4-6,  wow, sometimes I forget these are prequels, and then stupid lines like this happen)
Tumblr media
- from what I remember of the lead up in phantom menace, the relationship between padme and anakin seemed kind of tense. I always wondered why she went for anakin when obi-wan was in the room, and looked tons better.
I was gonna call her out on it, but DAMN, young Christian Anderson is actually really pretty looking, so, I kinda get it gurl. Wait, he’s got a small ponytail, (early 21st century version of the man bun), against obi-wan’s gorgeous flowing hair. we’re back to questioning padme’s decision.
(future loop:  fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, really, the whole ‘watching her sleep’ thing is new levels of creepy. it’s like they put all the most objectionable parts of twilight into one person.)
(future future loop:  and yoda recommends anakin stay behind. are padme and anakin his OTP, and he’s using any and all possible reason to get them together?)
(FFF loop: add venting at random women he barely knows to the list of anakin’s issues here... ahhhhhh! look at his smirk after she says him looking at her like that makes her feel uncomfortable.)
(FFFF loop:  and now I’m pulling a Triton! YOU’RE ONLY EIGHTEEN ANI! YOU DONT KNOW LOVE YET.  He’s also very forward, and ignoring Padme being uncomfortable any time he mentions his affections for her. I really want Megamind or someone to come in and just punch him, and tell him to stop.)
(FFFFF loop: and now the infamous sand speech (holy fuck, he used it as an avenue to hit on padme?! and there was some awkward tit staring too.))
(FFFFFF loop: that line actually worked too. where’d this chemistry come from, because she wasn’t interested before. please don’t let this be a ‘woman has no idea what she wants’ cliche.. i’ve seen theories that he’s using the force to influence her, and it’s starting to feel more and more possible)
(FFFFFFF loop: okay, the scene of them in the field was cute)
(FFFFFFFF loop: “I’m haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me.” - one, he started that kiss, and two, what a shitty manipulative way to ‘entice’ someone. just like, dude, no means no. it doesn’t mean have a couple ‘friend dates’ and see where things go. no wonder Obi-Wan doesn’t want him to do the trials, he’s so freaking impulsive, and is practically lead by his dick . and padme is still saying no. and ani is still not listening!)
(FFFFFFFFF loop: the actual admission of their feelings is super cute, but feels like it belongs in a different movie. the first hour or so of the film made me absolutely hate this relationship, and now I think they are super cute. not a fan of rollercoasters like this. all their interactions after were really believable, if you started halfway through the movie.)
Tumblr media
- as for Jar-Jar, I remember everyone shitting on him, and having seen some of the more interesting stories about his creation (Sith Jar-Jar, the fact that his voice actor based it on his local dialect, etc), I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. he’s massively annoying, but so were the Minions, but everyone went ga-ga for them. I think if his voice dropped a couple decibels he would have been a lot better. its the squeaky-ness that gets to me, and makes me want to see him off the screen
Tumblr media
- i dont know which part was worse, Obi-Wan “lets jump out a window (with glass that actually broke!)” Kenobi, or Anakin “lets slice small bugs with my laser sword around the head of the woman I’m crushing on” Skywalker
(future loop: round 2:  Anakin “I’m gonna abandon my post to find my mum” Skywalker, or Obi-Wan “Let’s kick the guy we’re tied to off the landing pad” Kenobi)
Tumblr media
- also “death sticks” was almost a good joke as the “You want to go home and rethink your life”
Tumblr media
- as a librarian myself, the librarian/archivist makes me hate the profession a bit.
Tumblr media
- its an interesting thing, realizing your teaching approach for small children is the same as yoda’s  (apparently i also share similar opinions of politicians with ani)
- obi-wan’s reactions on kamino is just the best thing.
Tumblr media
- Shmi getting released from slavery: that’s such a slippery slope. as a shorthand, its a sweet idea for her, but do you know if it was ever really her choice. I mean, you’d feel indebted to the person who freed you. (is that stockholm syndrome?) And then she gets fridged, so that’s fun...
anakin’s angry face doesn’t look that terrifying - is it supposed to? this kid is 18 yo rn, he’s still got baby fat on him, which rounds him out. perhaps thats the point. this is where he ‘becomes a man’, as dumb as that sounds. we haven’t seen him be much more than a kid. but this is where he gets his teeth, that ‘first step’, which will colour any further anger interactions. baby faced anakin could not have killed the little ones, but after this, you can see it more likely.
so the characterization coming from the whole Shmi arc is what I wish was apart of the whole film, instead of it being about 1h30min into it
Tumblr media
- its interesting to see how the manipulation is evolving. the subtle manipulation of jar-jar. the shades of grey between dooku and obi-wan. (future loop: were there actual shades of grey, or just 1000 IQ thinking saying the truth to someone who would believe it to be a lie. I can’t tell if it was him reaching out, accidentally showing his hand, or intended to happen. that whole ending seemed to be really convoluted, and on par with the Joker’s plan in the Dark Knight, very fridge logic)
- ya kno, the clones will respond to anyone telling them what to do... that seems like an major concern... and playing the imperial march as both palpatine and the clones march is such a nice touch.
Tumblr media
------------------
The biggest frustration I found was that the movie feels like two separate movies. the second half was fun and the characters were much more enjoyable. the writing had good chemistry between ani and padme, which wasn’t there in the beginning.
oh, and look, it was written by george lucas AND jonathan hales. the AND means that the script was worked on separately, and it shows.

Prompts
Been meaning to make this for a while: Free list of skele-prompts! No credit needed (although I’d love to read it if you make one, maybe drop me a note?), and feel free to change ANY of the details or ships. This list is meant to INSPIRE✧ not restrict.
These are largely old ideas that I realize I’m probably never going to get around to writing myself and thought I’d share. Mostly Papcest, but there’s some left open for Fontcest and Sanscest, and you can always change it up. I probably forgot some, so I’ll add to it as I remember them.
RoyalMoney (Poppy/Cash)
Poppy is a wealthy, and unbearably bored Nigerian prince. Kept safe and sound, a prisoner in the castle by his overprotective brother, Poppy is allowed only limited contact with the guards or servants, and nothing at all with the outside world. When a thief breaks in through his bedroom window (captured easily by the Great Prince Poppy! He’s sheltered, not helpless!), Poppy can't help being intrigued… [His brother can shove it; He’s decided to keep this one.]
Fellcest (Red/Edge)
Red is a scientist. Or at least he used to be. He’s studied the wonders of the universe, tested the limits of time-space, and even broken through the divides between worlds. […none of it compared to learning the way his brother reacts to flirting.]
SpicyHoney (Edge/Stretch(Rus))
Edge is a loyal knight, through and through, and Rus is the true heir to the throne. Edge is determined to protect him no matter the cost. Even now that the kingdom has been overthrown and they were barely able to escape with their lives. Even now that they must keep moving, and live in hiding, lest Rus be captured and executed. Even though Rus is used to being pampered and spoiled, and Edge is the only one left to treat him with the sort of devotion and reverence that a true prince deserves. [Originally a Edge x Anyone, but the pouty, stubborn prince kept morphing into Rus, soooo…]
Edge and Stretch are stuck in a car together for a long trip, and expect to bicker the whole time. Unfortunately 5 minutes in one of them accidentally confesses. Neither are prepared for this, and now the car ride is spent dealing with THIS instead... oh dear…
Stretch needs to get a physical. Cool, no big, even doctors aren’t sure what to do with a pile of bones, so no point in being embarrassed, and—bonus!—most don’t know how skeleton magic works, so he gets to skip the more invasive stuff. Except—wait—this time his doctor is a skeleton? A really hot skeleton?? And since Stretch is missing so much from his chart, he’s getting a THOROUGH exam??? ...great… [Bonus points for Stretch aggressively flirting to hide his nerves, “w-wow doc. i don’t usually spread my legs before the first date, haha. guess you must be special.”]
SpicyBBQ (Edge/Slim)
Edge’s new lamia is a dominant type, strong, and eager to breed him. But Edge isn’t inclined to submit, and he’s pretty sure he knows exactly how to tame his horny pet. [Succeed or fail, both are tasty~.]
MapleBlossom (Slim/Papyrus)
Slim is the lead singer/guitarist/drummer in an up and coming band. Hanging out at an afterparty of one of his shows, some cute little groupie, or a fan, or whatever, catches his attention when they start chatting him up. Slim is charmed, and while he’s got a pretty firm rule about not fucking the fans, he’s gotta make an exception this time. He’s gonna rock this groupies world. [Except that Papyrus isn’t a groupie. Or a fan. He was just invited along by a friend and thought this stranger might want someone to talk to. But boy is he flattered by all the attention! Is this… flirting?!?]
SweetMoney (Sugar(HT!Pap)/Cash)
Taking his first ever train trip to the big city, Sugar ends up sitting next to a stranger. Cash seems friendly enough on the ride, but when they get off he refuses to leave??? He keeps insisting it’s too dangerous for someone like Sugar to be alone in the city, and that all well and good, but Sugar’s pretty sure he has a stalker now??? Blood had warned him about this… oh well… For a stalker, Cash is awfully charming.
Edge x _______
Edge is an Alpha. All the Papyruses are Alphas, so of course he’s an Alpha. He is the most Alpha-y-est Alpha to ever Alpha, thank you very much. And as long as he keeps taking his Alpha-supplements, surely no one will be any the wiser. But the supplements can only repress his instincts so much when he’s surrounded by so many fine, aggressively-dominant Alphas. And let’s be real, how long would it really take a group of Alphas to notice an Omega in their midst? [Easily could be one-on-one, but this prompt is feeling pretty gang-bang-y to me~]
In hindsight I think I may have seen this idea around before (so let me know if it’s already a thing…), but Edge as a Heinz Doofenshmirtz-(Or like MegaMind, Dr. Horrible, fuckin.... Team Rocket??)-style villain! Over the top dramatic! But also pretty ridiculous... But definitely EVIL!!!!! But also is he though??? Red is his henchman. His love interest can be the Hero, but also could be his usual kidnapping victim, or the cute skele from the laundry mat, or I suppose his henchman, or a brand-new unique dynamic!
Loud Top Edge. That’s really all I’ve got for this prompt. It really didn’t have to be under Edge specifically… you could make it anyone, but I was thinking of Edge. ...as just... a… noisy… really verbal top... yeah...~<3
Papyrus x _______
Someone has been stealing apples from Papyrus’s apple orchard, and he is determined to catch the culprit! [Well, it turns out the culprit happens to be very attractive and that is a whole new, very different problem!]
Papyrus x _______/Sans x _______
Undertale is Universe 0. It’s the base, the original, the one every universe is spun off of. As such, there is some sort of general law of attraction pulling all the copies towards their originals. Or at least, that’s Sans’s theory anyway. That would explain all these Sans’s that keep hitting on him and—don’t think i don’t notice the rest of you making passes at my bro-! are you looking for a b a d  t i m e ?
Bonus Lamia prompt
[A]’s lamia goes into a submissive heat. No matter what they do, however, [A] can’t seem to satisfy them. A quick google search reveals their lamia is looking to be bred with eggs, but—uh—[A] can’t produce eggs, and neither of them really want kids yet anyways, and—hey, you can buy safe to insert pseudo-eggs!—Don’t worry baby, I’m gonna give you just what you need~
