Funny Idea that Occured to Me:

Mello comes out to his mafia in the most threatening way possible. In so doing, he terrifies them out of using homophobic language.

Something like ... "I am the indispensible brains of this outfit, but I am perfectly willing to be the psychopathic executor of the most unhinged violence you have ever seen. The next person who uses a homophobic slur in my presence--I've prepared a handout, don't worry--will experience that unhinged violence first hand. Because I'm gay, and tired of hearing it."

One of them complains, "But these are all my favorite insults!" And Mello is instantly at his throat with a razor, hissing, "Then come up with better, more inclusive insults. Or I'll literally [redacted] [redacted] and [redacted] with your own [redacted] so you have to [redacted] with a magnifying glass."

Jump forward two weeks, and instead of his mafia calling their enemies "faggots" or whatever, they now say inventive things like "Taco Bell customer" and "spaghetti breaker".

DATE NIGHT

Light

Is pretty open to whatever you want to do. If you ask him to choose, he'll go with the classic dinner at a nice restaurant and maybe go to a museum or something.

He's a very good conversationalist. He loves to learn so he's very easy to talk to; he remembers details.

'Oh, they hate this color, I better pick a different tie.'

If you're doing something fun, he'll have a good time. But he's not a fan of the 'lay around on the couch' kind of dates, they make him feel unproductive.

He LOVES the lay around on the couch type of dates. They're a good safe option for him when it's not safe for him to be in public.

When it is safe for him to be in public he's completely shameless. All of his habits and quirks are out on display for the whole world to see and he does not care if he gets judged for it.

So if you can't handle the secondhand embarrassment of your boyfriend having his bare feet out for free, you're going to have a bad time.

If you do go out, he likes quieter, more private dates. A library, a park, places that aren't too crowded or chaotic.

Cafes and bakeries are always a win for obvious reasons.

Misa

She really goes all out. You have to schedule your dates with her, because they can be like 6 hours long.

She's a big fan of classic romantic dates. The 'dinner and a move' kind of thing.

I think she would absolutely love to take you to a masquerade. A chance to experiment with fashion and dance with you all night? She'd be all over it.

She would also like shopping dates. She loves to pick out clothes she thinks would look good on you and will let you pick out things for her too.

Takes lots of cute pictures through the night and displays her favorites in her room.

He’ll only go on dates with you on his off time- work always comes first. He has to beat Near by any means necessary, that means his love life comes second to that. In another world where everything was resolved neatly, he would likely be more willing to engage in romance.

Mello loves an adrenaline rush. His favorite dates are always a little risky and you always end up sweaty and out of breath (in a good way.)

I imagine he would like taking you out for drinks and going dancing- probably to raves rather than nightclubs.

The dark is a nice excuse to hold your hand- so you don’t get separated of course.

When you’re so exhausted and dizzy you can’t see straight, he’ll call you both a cab and you’ll do everything short of have sex in the back of it.

The real fun starts when you both get upstairs ;)

Matt

Matt loves relaxed stay-at-home dates. You hop on multiplayer on a really relaxing game like stardew valley or minecraft and just lay in a snuggly pile of blankets together.

I think he would also like dates where you make something together- trying a new recipe, or making an art project. It might not turn out great - he doesn’t have a sophisticated palette or a lot of artistic skill, but he would have a lot of fun.

He doesn’t mind going out once in a while, but he doesn’t like dressing up. He hates wearing ties. He’ll do it occasionally for your sake, but it’s not his favorite.

Near

He doesn’t really do specifically set out *dates*. You both just… end up in each others company.

It’s never a case of ‘Let’s set aside this Saturday at 7 for a date night.’ Usually, you just end up in his room while he’s working, you distract him, and you two end up spending the next six hours talking.

I imagine he would like that type of date, where you sit and have a really, really good conversation for hours and hours.

Especially since you’re one of the only people in the world who can really keep up with him.

He might bring out something for you two to work on together, some of his toys, puzzles, models, etc.

He likes meticulous, detail oriented work. Introduce him to knitting/crochet and you two can sit and knit together for hours. (embroidery would also work for this.)

Matsuda

Silly goofy guy.

He likes new experiences, he’s willing to try just about anything once. So if you have a really wild date idea, he’s probably down with it.

If he’s the one to come up with the date, he tries to put some thought into it and make it personal to you. But he has trouble coming up with new ideas so he tends to stick to what he knows - you two have a dedicated date night restaurant you both like.

I have no idea why, but I imagine he would love live theater? Like specifically musicals. Take him to see Hairspray, he’ll have the time of his life.

-pre timeskip, he would 100% help u with ur homework. study sessions would be the norm with you two, and no matter how hard you tried to affectionately get him to yourself, he’d be determined to finish helping you

-after establishing your relationship, he did everything he could to try and understand the social norms a little better. he can use basic communication with other people and would be capable of making friends, but he’d never been in a situation like this.

-he’d do the typical cheesy romantic stuff at first but you could tell he was unsure. you explained to him that there’s so specific way to do these things and that he should do whatever he feels comfortable with.

-he’d probably continue to be cheesy and romantic at times in a more teasing way when you were alone, but his main love language is acts of service. he’d do things for you to lift some weight off of your shoulders and be more affectionate in private.

-in time he’d become a lot more comfortable with the relationship, especially considering you’re someone he trusts which isn’t a common thing for him.

-again, it’d probably take him a while to warm up to romantic gestures and stuff like that. the difference is that mello may never fully become super affectionate.

-he may be an emotional person, but it’s very hard for him to communicate his feelings to others. he’d have to trust you a lot to be in such an intimate relationship with you and he knows he can confide in you, but you’d need to help him out a LOT.

-you accept him for who he is and he knows that too.

-after a long day you’re always there to supply him with endless chocolate and random activities to chill him out. you’d watch movies and just cuddle together until you fall asleep.

-you also understand that he needs to be alone sometimes too. in general, you’re his break from a very chaotic life in the best way possible

-i hc that matt has adhd and can get depressed sometimes, and you help him out of these periods. you recognise when he needs to get out and do something. however, you’d never make a big deal about it unless you had to be a bit more blunt. in the end, he knows that you want the best for him and he trusts you enough to let you help him.

-like L, he wouldn’t be used to the norm of relationships. tbh i feel like he’d be anxious, even if that is uncharacteristic.

-he’d probably remain his usual stoic self even after things had become more comfortable, but all in all he’d be a sweet partner.

-i also think that even though his main love language would be acts of service and stuff like that, he’d love to have you close to him all the time.

-on that same note, i think he would be very protective. he’d be worried to get you mixed up in some of the dangerous things he’s involved in

-he would also need reassurance quite a lot. he’s incredibly overlooked at work and isn’t taken seriously most of the time, so you’d need to make sure you told him often how great he is. his self esteem can be low at times but you’d help him through it and it’s what makes him love you so much.

takada: why WOULD she be able to do a backflip? idk. but theres a possibility for hidden depths there. i dont think her sense of dignity would permit her to fail at a backflip, so either she wouldn't try to do a backflip or she'd successfully do a backflip

mikami: only above the baseline because of his abs. but he probably has no idea how to do a backflip.

misa: it's plausible that she'd receive dance training as part of her j-pop career, and that may have included some stunts or gymnastics practice

L: capoiera probably means he has some hidden physical abilities. it seems like a martial art very suited to backflipping

matsuda: this man has looney tunes level of stunt plot armor and the ability to do a walking handstand with seemingly zero effort. he'd be fine. "light, i do a backflip every single day of my life"

naomi: regularly can does and will do a backflip in the process of beating someone's ass. and will do it better than L because she has a diet that isn't just ice cream and twinkies.

that poll made me think of this excellent post by @magicaii re: mello’s fanon interpretation as overly emotional, and i broadly agree with all the points made, but i would also like to posit that if one subscribes to the hypothesis that mello and near grew up in a somewhat foster-sibling-like environment (which seems to already be almost universally accepted in the matt-mello relationship. is it even canon that they were roommates? it is so prevalent in the fandom that i forgot to even question it. but i digress)

in a foster-sibling-like environment at the orphanage a certain level of childhood intimacy would be inescapable between mello and near just by virtue of growing up together: having meals together, attending the same classes, sharing caretakers and chores, being teamed up by teachers during assignments, existing in the same recreational spaces, etc. even if they were never particularly friendly with each other, they would inevitably, perhaps even unwittingly, develop some kind of understanding (“something identical in them […] something which would dart to one face, then to the other, depending on an expression or a trick of the light or the angle at which a head was cocked”) by virtue of being intellectual equals above the rest of their peers. they are, after all, foils to the L-light relationship.

in fact i find it harder to believe that they would not have interacted often at wammy’s. being slated to become and in competition for the role of L’s successor, their tutors would have set them up to push each other through special assignments/tests/projects. it is a highly effective didactic tool used in all sorts of competitive and academic environments. mello’s “you know near and i don’t get along” would be thoroughly justified: who amongst us would not hate being Assigned Partners At School with your (self-declared) nemesis! roger knows this! he has probably threatened mello with a get-along-t-shirt! mello’s emphasis on you know is not clunky as-you-know exposition but an exasperated teenager going UGHH MOM! at a guardian that keeps refusing to acknowledge mello's protests

all of this is to say that, with this context in mind, i can imagine mello lightly “bullying”⁽¹⁾ near not because he wants to make a punching bag out of him but because in the way kids naturally learn through play and social interaction, he'd be feeling for his advantages over near (being more athletic, better with people, easier to get along with, etc) debatably he might even want to establish/prove these differences in the social hierarchy at wammy’s (given his high “social life” stats in dn13:htr) it is these differences (that near is too passive, emotionless, haughty, at least in mello’s head) which seem to frustrate mello the most, so it doesn’t strike me as out of character to think the boy who is introduced hitting someone with a ball and tugging at someone else's hair would surrender to his id⁽²⁾ and try to get a rise out of near, that he’d want to bring near down to everyone else’s “level"

and perhaps this is the shipping goggles i have on but there is something thoroughly intoxicating about being the center of attention of someone who you passionately resent when you are undoubtedly on top.⁽³⁾ you could argue mello subconsciously desires near’s admiration and either refuses to see it whenever it is there (“near told me i did good job, the condescending dick”) or near is absolute shit at communicating it (“your thought process in this essay was almost impossible to follow” <- badly worded compliment), so mello veers for the next best thing: near’s attention. much like with a bad cat, negative attention is still attention, and on god he is getting his fix of being so fucking annoying (look at me, why won't you look at me!) wherever he can get it

⁽¹⁾ie. wrestling him down in the playground, toppling over his towers, hiding favorite toys, pulling his hair, locking him in closets etc. nothing life-threatening or overly painful; the mean teasing of a resentful older brother, not the harassing of a bloodthirsty middle school terrorist

⁽²⁾especially when they are younger mello would have far less developed self control lol. by the time we first meet them, at 13 and 15, this light bullying would've been largely a thing of the past, with mello becoming gradually more distant around the time he transitions into brooding teenagehood while near is still a kid, which would've made leaving wammy's far easier (i also think that mello would firmly believe that he has earned the right to bother near while everyone else has not and he WILL be fighting them about it. only he can mess with near, thank you very much. typical older brother behavior. but this post is already too long)

Being sick sucks but it helps when you have the Sparda guys around to help take care of you!

Dante X FemReader

You aren’t sick often in life but when it happens it doesn’t matter what Dante is doing or where he is at. He’s going to be there.

He knows all about being shot, stabbed, ect ect. He just lets his regenerative healing take care of what ails him.

So that being said, he is a stranger when it comes to anything virus or cold related. So when you call telling him how bad you feel, he panics.

You try telling him to stay at home that you will be fine, but he is not having it.

On his way he stops at the store and grabs a basket. And no medicine is safe in his relentless pursuit of things to make you feel better.

Tylenol? He grabbed every type there is. Nyquil? Daytime and nighttime packs a plenty.

When Dante finally gets there and you see how much he bought, you really didn’t know what you were going to do with everything he bought.

Dante is quick to shoo you back to bed as he can tell you’re running a fever just by the flush of your cheeks and bleary eyes.

You shiver relentlessly under the blankets and he just piles on more and more until you can feel yourself smothering. Except you’re still freezing.

When you tell him he’s launching himself and adding himself to the already heavy blankets.

“Dante,” you huffed under the weight of the blankets and full grown man. “You’re smothering me!”

“I’m trying to keep you warm babe,” he cooed. You rolled your eyes before kicking him off along with majority of the blankets. Once you could move again you held one end of the comforter up.

“Get in here you doofus.” While your fever had you both burning up and freezing, you couldn’t deny the comfort that Dante radiated as his arms wrapped around your shivering body. He was your own personal heater to use as you needed it. He was more comfortable than the mountain of blankets he had piled on top of you. You nuzzled in closer playing with the chest hair that peeked from his unbuttoned shirt.

“It’s not fair that you don’t get sick,” you mumbled. “I wish I didn’t get sick.”

“Careful what you wish for babe,” Dante replied kissing the top of your head. “I’m part devil remember.”

“It’s hard to forget when you’re basically a living furnace,” you rolled your eyes while melting from the touch of his lips.

Dante chuckled, “Just don’t forget I’m one hundred percent handsome devil.”

“That’s it get out of my bed and my house,” you shoved him weakly.

Like Dante, Vergil lacks any experience when it comes to dealing with colds, flus, ect ect.

But that being said he has a little more knowledge than his brother on how to take care of someone when they’re battling any kind of sickness.

He does like taking care of you in his own way, at times. But he also likes to give you space and let you take care of yourself.

You’re a grown woman and he doesn’t want to impede on your independence.

So he’s not going to take care of you unless you ask him.

He cares about you, but most of the time, thinks that his quest for power is more important than something that you can take care of on your own.

He’ll only make an effort when you ask him and he’s feeling generous.

Though when he sees you lethargic and sweating profusely it breaks his heart. Sure you had to ask for his help, but he didn’t understand how serious some sicknesses are despite having more knowledge than his brother.

Now that he knows and realizes how bad you are he’s there by your side taking care of all your needs.

He makes homemade soup from a cookbook that he had noticed on one of your shelves.

While the soup simmers. He’s refilling your water cup by your bed, rewetting the wash cloth on your forehead, and finding more medicine to give you.

He leaves you to nap for a little bit before bringing you some soup. He’s adamant about feeding you.

“Vergil you don’t have to do this,” you said after swallowing a bite of soup. Despite your cold keeping you from tasting food like you would normally, it isn’t lost upon you on how good his soup his.

“You have let yourself get this way by not taking care of your body,” Vergil answered matter-of-factly before giving you a glaring look. He scooped more soup onto the spoon and it held it out towards you. “So it stands to reason that I need to help you and make sure you get the required nutrients to get better.”

You begrudgingly took the offered bite while glaring in return.

“Maybe if somebody didn’t make me worry so much I wouldn’t stress myself out enough to get sick.”

“Worry about me perhaps,” he asks and your cheeks flush, this time not from the fever.

“Maybe.”

He chuckles softly kissing your feverish forehead before holding out your water cup.

Nero X FemReader

Nero is a way better caretaker than his dad and uncle combined.

Despite growing up not knowing his father and his mother absent in his life. Nero’s adopted family took good care of him.

He knows all the ins and outs of getting someone better.

Being one quarter devil he’s a little more susceptible to human colds and viruses though he is not sick for long at all. He once had a cold for like a day.

So he’s 100% ready to take care of you while you’re sick. Paging Doctor Nero.

Whatever medicines you need, he gets them, in moderation (looking at you Dante). Want a certain kind of soup? He’ll make it for you. Juice? Your fridge is stocked with your favorites, though he wants you to drink more water than anything.

He makes sure that you stay hydrated, that you’re taking medicine at the correct intervals, and he even changes your sheets when you’re taking a much needed shower or bath.

Nero even stays, unwilling to let you to be alone while you’re feeling so bad.

He’s not worried about getting sick as he lays beside you holding you closely for comfort.

He wants you to know that he’ll always be there even if you aren’t at your best.

If you have to go to work he calls in sick for you and when you’re feeling well enough to go back he makes you a healthy lunch to take.

He’ll stick around to make sure that your house is kept clean so when you get home you can get the rest you need to fight whatever part of the cold that keeps clinging to you.

“I’m home,” you mumbled in exhaustion. While you were still sick, you weren’t running a fever and you couldn’t afford to take any more time off. Though your body was feeling a little worse from the exertion you put it through, just taking your shoes off was becoming a chore. Nero stepped out of the kitchen wiping his hands on a towel. His gaze softened seeing your tired state before he’s placing a kiss on your flushed cheek.

“Rough day,” he asks helping you out of your jacket.

“Not really,” you reply accepting his help graciously. “It wasn’t too bad. It’s this stupid cold it makes everything harder.”

“You’ll get better. You’re at the cusp of healing,” Nero hung up your jacket before going back to the kitchen. “Take a shower and get comfortable dinner is almost ready.”

“Mmmm,” you moan at the thought. “It smells amazing. I could smell dinner from the outside. I gotta say though Nero, I didn’t know I’m dating a doctor and a nanny.”

“We’ll see if you call me nanny later on,” he smirked before disappearing.

You want canned soup? He’ll get it ready. You want homemade soup? Your wish is his command. Freshly squeezed orange juice? He’s your guy.

Nothing is too good or too difficult to do for you. Especially when you are not feeling your best.

He takes pride in knowing you as well as the book of poetry he keeps and knows whatever makes you happy.

He keeps you company reading you poetry while you eat or stay by your side being a quiet safe presence while you sleep.

He refuses to leave you alone until you are back on your feet.

He cares for you so much that he doesn’t care what it takes or he has to do, he just wants you better again.

He does get frustrated if his helping doesn’t get you better soon. He feels like he failed you.

“I don’t understand why you aren’t better now,” V groans face planting into your blankets.

Mello

the main canon thing I know about Mello is he's a bit of a dick. so I hate to say it but he's probably going to poke fun at you. until he realises he's genuinely upsetting you, at which point he mumbles something and stops.

you might find a box of chocolates outside your door as a wordless apology.

there will still be the occasional jab

but he's going to go "secretly a sweetheart" mode

because if he's close with you, he's close with you for a reason and that reason is that he cares about you. (even if he kind of hates himself for it)

So, like L, he'll start asking questions, some insensitive, but he's trying to learn so he is no longer such a dick. unlike L he won't do any research at all lmao so the most obvious things will leave him with a shocked Pikachu face...

I actually think if your verbal tics are words as opposed to simply humming or clearing your throat etc, he'd start saying those words more often. just using them in general conversation no matter what they happened to be.

that's actually something that a lot of people do, did you know? we tend to use words more often if we're close with people who say them often

someone will have to tell him eventually that drawing attention to tics can make them worse, at which point he'll freeze up for half an hour and stare at the wall - probably in embarrassment, it's hard to tell. for a few days after that he'll be really awkward just because he's not used to not talking about things.

Mello is the kind of guy who completely blows past taboos, but knowing that focusing on your tics makes it harder for you means he won't want to bring it up anymore

but yeah after maybe a week or so things go back to normal

well as normal as things can ever be with Mello around...

Near

Near, on the other hand, will seem not to notice you have tics at all no matter how disruptive they are to you or how often they show

but of course when you tell him he just quietly says "I know" and goes back to building a tower out of pipe cleaners. though he might invite you to join in considering you're already there

He's so much better about it than Mello lol

he just doesn't really care either way if you have tics or not...

I also hc that Near has some kind of motor disability that affects his legs so he probably is more understanding of potential discrimination or struggles you may have faced

if one of your tics led to you knocking down one of his buildings he'd get a little upset but definitely not as much as if anyone else did it.. he'd probably make you help him rebuild it... that or make you sit five feet away for a while

Like L, I think Near would probably get a little bit scared if your verbal tics were yelling out words. no, actually, he'd probably get a little shocked at any sudden movement or sound. he's not obvious about it though, his body just jolts a little and he goes still for a moment, then returns to normal

he doesn't really ask any questions because he probably already knows everything he wants to know, but he's happy to sit and listen while you talk about anything - tic-related or not - if you'd like that. he will probably not talk back though haha

I think if he heard anyone, particularly Mello, giving you trouble over your tics, he'd throw dice at them

yeah he's just chill about it in general. Doesn't see it as anything that needs particular attention: he's more interested in your hobbies and whether you like solving puzzles than the fact that sometimes your body acts in ways you can't control.

Characters:

Rikki = Light

Emma = L

Cleo = Misa

Lewis = Matsuda

Miriam = Kiyomi

Zane = Mikami

Kim = Sayu

Elliot = Near, Mello, Matt

Miss Chatham = Ryuk

Now, despite character assignments I'm still giving cannon siblings. So Sayu is still Light's little sister, the wammy boys are L's etc. The roles are based off of personality, so not everything fits and I'll move things around. Like yeah, Ryuk is Chatham because him as a weird old ocean man with ominous advice is hysterical.

Plot:

Starts of pretty similar, will diverge.

Light and Misa go to high school at the Gold Coast, Australia. Light's mother is a marine biologist that works at a nearby institute, while his father still works in Japan as the chief of the NPA.

Misa lives there with her parents, and is close with Light. Ie, she follows him around and he puts up with her. She is also good friends with Matsuda, who studies with her occasionally.

L is the new transfer kid, who Light doesn't like because he keeps on challenging his intellect. Plus he's weird.

So of course Light gets put in a group biology project with him, along with Misa.

While brainstorming where to research, L asks about Mako Island. Light says the Island and the waters around it are too dangerous. L (in essence) calls him chicken.

That weekend, the two, and an unwilling Misa, take Sachiko's boat out to Mako. And the gas tank leaks. So, they row the short rest of the way to Mako.

Of course, there's no phone service, and no one will look for them until after the weekend. Light and L bicker on the beach until Misa makes them go setup camp on the shore, then look for higher ground to try and get reception.

While looking, Misa falls in a hole. L goes in to help her. Light falls into trying to lend them the rope. Stuck down there, they look for an exit, and find the moon pool.

After oooing and aweing, they figure out the pool is connected to the ocean due to tidal rings. They plan to swim out after L scopes it out. Problem, Misa can't swim.

But after encouraging words and promises to help her, they all get in the pool as the full moon rises over the mouth of the volcano.

Weird bubbles happen.

But they ignore it, swimming out to the ocean and back to their camp near shore, getting dry and going to sleep.

The next morning they go into the shallow water to look for samples for their project since they have nothing else to do.

And they all turn into fish.

They freak, Misa screams, it's a mess. They all crawl onto shore to try and figure this out, and as soon as they're dry, they turn back to normal.

Misa refuses to touch water again. L needs time to process what just happened. But Light, the little getter he is, goes for a swim.

And he loves it, it's the most awesome swimming experience he's ever had. Way better than swimming as a clumsy human. He convinces L, then Misa, and after they all start to get used to their tails, they're having the time of their lives.

Now, they can push the boat back to the mainland, and say that "luckily" the gas tank leaked right as they were getting back.

They get what they need for the project, and like the dorky 16 year olds they are, swear a pact to never tell anyone about this.

(Touta finds out a week later when Misa tried to go to a pool party.)

Miscellaneous/Plot Points

Misa shows up at school the following day in total beach girl aesthetic, including beach curls, shell/pearl jewelry, flowy clothes and wedges. L nearly smacks her upside the head. Light does.

They turn the moon pool into their own little hangout! Misa gets them all to buy fairy lights, tapestries, blankets, pillows, and even shelves for all of their stuff, along with a crap ton of batteries for the lights. It turns out surprisingly cozy.

They all hang out a lot for obvious reasons, which puts a chip in Kiyomi and Teru's shoulder. They've tried to be close to Light to no avail, but suddenly this L guy, and Misa who is now more than tolerated, are suddenly thick as thieves with him! They get bitchy with the two, especially L.

Misa made them all fishing net pouch-belts to put cool things they find during swims in.

The pool starts to look like a little treasure trove, since there is a LOT of cool stuff to find and the bottom of the ocean.

With the sheer amount of pearls and mother of pearl they find, Light starts to make accessories out of it. Misa is overjoyed and accepts the items with joy. L likes to watch Light tinker. Light doesn't mind him there.

The three, especially Light develop a superiority complex in regards to other people. It's based in insecurity about not being human anymore, but they do feel superior because of their powers.

L goes research nuts. A large portion of the moon pool wall looks like a mermaid conspiracy board, he wants to find any possible explanation. Light helps where he can, impressed with L's brain.

L was the first to find his powers, when he froze Kiyomi and Mikami to a wet sidewalk. Next was Light, after he boiled his annoying history teachers coffee all over his desk. Misa found her power a few days after, accidentally flooding her bathroom when she tried to bath.

The first full moon was... not good. Ryuk randomly showed up at the beach to warn Light, who discarded his words as meaningless blabbering. The three of them went moon crazy, and swam in the ocean until Misa got caught in an illegal fishing boat net.

The next morning, the boat was found sunken and destroyed, the charred and frozen bodies of the small were found with it.

None of them swam for three days.

But uh, yeah! They're a little pod, very protective of eachother :)

Misa likes to find starfish that match their hair colours and stick them on the boys' hair. They don't come off :)

It's the wammy boys that notice something up (they including Sayu are 10 btw) and they end up finding some of L's research. Watari just said it was probably a hobby when they showed him, but when they go to Sayu and they find a type of shell that is only found at diving depth in Light's room, they begin to think their theory of mermaids is warranted.

The trio is annoyed by the snoopyness, and now that they were technically murderers there was another level of urgency to keep this secret.

Unfortunately, mermaid hunters and scientists do start showing up, as "sitings" have increased due to underwater cameras.

Stakes rise and the three begin to ponder the benefits of staying. And the risks of going.

They start sabotaging. Finding the groups, their plans and evidence under the guise of mermaid enthusiasts. It works mostly, except for one group that keeps coming back. L finds himself impressed with how easily Light can manipulate them.

The three start going farther away during swims, able to go to places like Fiji or the Mediterranean in under an hour due to their extraordinary tails.

There is relationship drama. Misa is realizing her crush on Light is going no where, and he and L have started to become closer. Eventually they get over it, but lawlight is end game.

Kiyomi's jealousy deflates over time, and she begins to appreciate Misa without Light clouding her mind ;)

light yagami - if we’re thinking pre death note i think light would be a gentleman and honestly pretty romantic. in this context i mean he’d be super nice and would comfort you by holding you and reassuring you, but would also have just enough reason in there. he’d try his best to give u a solution to ur problems whilst also trying to be sensitive and not too unemotional. post death note, he’d maybe be a little more distant. he’d still love you the same but would also be concerned about keeping you on his side. he’d more or less be the same in comforting you but would be a lot more busy so wouldn’t have a lot of time

l lawliet - ok we all know he’s very pragmatic and unemotional but if you are genuinely someone he is willing to devote his time to, he’d really want to be the best he could for you. he’d probably learn as he went along but would become more able to handle emotional problems as well. L would give you words of comfort and give you an outlet to explain the situation fully, so that he could evaluate it and show his love by coming up with a solution
