I think it's insane that after the final Agni Kai, Zuko was able to tank a hyper-powered lightning bolt (I mean, tank in the way he was still moving after getting hit, even if it was just groans of pain and slight twitching). He just got healed by Katara for about 5 seconds and was A-OK afterward.
When Aang got struck by lightning, he was in a coma for like what? Almost a month? And you're telling me Zuko gets struck by lightning, and 5 minutes later, is walking around like it never happened? Sorry, I can't believe that.
But Sno, you say, Aang was in his most fragile state. Of course, he was in a month long coma after he basically died. Okay, and I think that Zuko being hit by a lightning bolt 100x more powerful than the one Aang got hit by would also put Zuko in a coma; especially because Katara doesn't have the spirit water to bring him back to life. Unlike Aang, Zuko only gets regular water, not magic water, to heal him.
"But, but Zuko redirected it," you say. Uh no, Zuko wasn't grounded, so that shit still hit him like a damn truck. He redirected some of it, but not all of it. I would probably say that it burnt him from the inside out. It's a miracle that in LOK, that man is still kicking it and being a badass in his early 90s. He should have serious heart issues, if not have died in his 70s at the absolute latest. The man should not be kicking ass in the poles. He should be on bed rest.
In conclusion, Zuko should have been in a coma for like at least a year (realistically he should be dead, but this is a kids show where the main characters aren't allowed to die, so I'll let it slide) and I will stand by that.
If you wanna read how the creators could have worked with comatose Zuko, read under the cut. If not, then I hope you enjoyed my little rant. This post got longer than I thought.
Here's how the creators could have dealt with comatose Zuko and the potential storylines our other favorites could have had at the end of book 3 and a majority of the potential and nonexistent book 4:
Aang is having to deal with the consequences of Ozai being left alive, as I'm sure the Earth Kingdom and the Water Tribes would not like that fact. As well as their newest Fire Lord currently being in a comatose state. They barely trusted Zuko. Are you telling me they're gonna trust The Dragon of the West? (More on this at the end) And maybe Aang would actually get some character development, unlike in season 3.
I don't think Sokka, Suki, and Toph would have storylines that center Zuko all that much, but they would also definitely be mourning the semi-loss of Zuko along with whatever storyline they get. Maybe Sokka and Suki can have conflict in their relationship now that the war is over and they might physically have to go their own ways. Toph can probably wonder where she can go from here. Will she try and reconcile with her parents again? Will she travel with Aang once Zuko wakes up? Will she stay in the Fire Nation and help Zuko sniff out traitors with her seismic sense? Needless to say, the 3 of them have endless opportunities.
Katara is now dealing with the guilt of not only having put Zuko in that position in the first place, but also not being able to fully heal him (even though he would have done that for anyone, not just her). And if you're a Zutara shipper, like myself, even realizing potential feelings and the conflict that comes with that. Or if we still wanna go through with the canon ending of Kataang, have her navigate her feelings about Aang properly and not whatever that original canon ending was. And if we wanna go the "Katara doesn't need a man" route (my personal favorite despite my shipping tendencies), she could try and navigate where she goes from here, like Toph. Obviously, she'll go back to the Southern Water Tribe and help out there, but what comes after they've recovered? She's not the type to stand by and settle when there are other people who need her help. Will she go to the Earth Kingdom and help rebuild there? Go to the Fire Nation and help out there? Become an ambassador of the Southern Water Tribe to help better relations with the other nations? (My personal favorite) The possibilities are endless for her.
But you know who would be affected the most? Iroh. Not only did he (kinda) lose his nephew, who was his second son, but he now has to deal with the diplomatic repercussions of his past as a general of the Fire Nation. Like I said before, the Earth Kingdom and the Water Tribes barely trusted Zuko; no way in hell are they gonna trust the man that laid seige to Ba Sing Se for nearly 2 whole years, regardless if he's the reason the city was freed from Fire Nation control. The pressure Iroh would feel from advisors regarding the fact that his only heir is comatose would increasingly get worse as the months go by. We know that Zuko will wake up, but Iroh and the rest of the cast don't. Iroh is dealing with the fracturing Fire Nation and pressure from the Earth Kingdom and the Water Tribes, all while his son is in a coma. He could see what he was going to have Zuko face by himself with no support around him. What would he do with Ozai? Would be a major question throughout the season.
Of course, in the end, Zuko wakes up because we want a happy ending for them all. But the turmoil we could have gotten in the end would have been *chefs kiss*

Do you have any idea the detrimental drama that would happen between these four parties would be after Kiryu goes to jail? Besides what we saw in canon
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shimano knows everything about Majima which is the worst fate for someone like him and there’s no way he wouldn’t have known his favorite is wildly obsessed with Kazama’s favorite. This could so easily be abused. I can just imagine the snide remarks about it coming up in the most timely situations. Like noticing how Majima is looking really down, bored, and fed up
Majima and Nishiki knew each other even if briefly in ‘88. What’s Majima thinking about what really went down while everyone is assuming Nishiki is useless? He would definitely see the shift in him. Would he ever confront him outside of any necessary job interactions before or after the switch? Or does he just watch from afar?
Kazama continues to not do anything for Nishiki while Kashiwagi does it all. Everything continues on as normal
The rest of the Tojo Clan: Aw shit this kinda sucks :/
These four bricks for the next ten years literally any time Kiryu comes up:

The Dungeons & Dragons Players of Death Row
For a group of men in a Texas prison, the fantasy game became a lifeline — to their imaginations, and to one another.
Tumblr media
When Ford first overheard the men on the old Huntsville death row playing D.&D., they were engaged in a fast, high-octane version. The gamers were members of the Mexican Mafia, an insular crew that let Ford into their circle after they realized he could draw. The gang’s leader, Spider, pulled some strings, Ford recalls, and got him moved to a neighboring cell to serve as his personal artist. Ford earned some money drawing intricate Aztec designs in ink. He also began to join their D.&D. sessions, eventually becoming a Dungeon Master and running games all over the row. Playing Dungeons & Dragons is more difficult in prison than almost anywhere else. Just as in the free world, each gaming session can last for hours and is part of a larger campaign that often stretches on for months or years. But in prison, players can’t just look up the game rules online. The hard-bound manuals that detail settings, characters and spells are expensive and can be difficult to get past mailroom censors. Some states ban books about the game altogether, while others prohibit anything with a hard cover. Books with maps are generally forbidden, and dice are often considered contraband, because they can be used for gambling. Prisoners frequently replace them with game spinners crafted out of paper and typewriter parts.

When I worked for TSR, Inc. back in the day, the letters from prisoners requesting D&D books and modules came to my desk. You would be surprised how many we got. Getting product to prisoners was difficult and each prison had different policies. The letters were always from prisoners, not prison staff or librarians. The prisoners had to piece together what their local policy or issue was and how to get around it. Most could not. Shipping products directly to a prisoner, even for free, was usually out of the question. Prisons looked at D&D not as a game but as a tool for planning escapes. (Terms like "dungeon crawl" on the product didn't help.) The majority of the time the only viable option was to get the local prison library to stock it. I would do my best to track down the local supplier for the prison in question and forward the information to our sales rep from Random House for that territory to reach out. It was more likely the Random House rep rather than our own Hobby Channel reps would have a relationship with the librarian or prison purchasing board for their other books. In the 10 years I was involved in the sales and marketing of Dungeons & Dragons I received 3 thank you letters for getting the game into a prison. ~ eP

did you guys know that social skills aren't fixed. these are something you can and should learn. even if you're already an adult. it is valuable to understand general social conventions, boundaries, etc. this is true regardless of your cultural context or neurodivergency or anxiety. that's all. xoxo gossip girl

Bedlam
A screen shot from the trailer.
Tumblr media
The trailer: https://bedlamfilm.com/
"Why a county jail should be serving as a mental health institution is a question worth investigating--and it gets that worthy exploration in the documentary Bedlam, premiering tonight on the PBS nonfiction series Independent Lens. Psychiatrist and filmmaker Dr. Kenneth Rosenberg directed the film which examines the sad state of treatment of serious mental illness and how we got to this unfortunate state of affairs."

I've dealt with some real weirdos and especially in the NSFW spaces I've been, people lose a lot of common sense with strangers, but especially when they're horny, or think being in sexual spaces (or other places that are less formal and more open about some things) makes your boundaries nonexistent. People can hardly act normal asking for @ s of accounts for that kind of thing, but y'know it also applies to SFW spaces as well sometimes because the average attitude in some spaces are super goddamn weird and either culty or reinforcing parasocial shit... or just really entitled, need it be access to the creators of something, or towards just other people in the circle making stuff
Remember, if some rando is thinks they're entitled to your art/writing/edits/mods/whatever you post because they like it and act like you're a cold selfish bitch who is suddenly bad at being in [whatever hobby/creative job industry you do if you do that] for having boundaries, rejecting a commission/work from them, sometimes even just telling them requests aren't open, or they violate rules you have established are needed to follow you wherever (such as age), you're allowed to give them the boot because they're annoying, wrong, and are more often then not holding a one way ticket to parasocial town and you do not want that near you.
You owe them nothing, if negative behavior like that towards you is brought on/worsened by their mental health issues/disabilities/so on, it's still not your damn job or obligation to keep them around or help them manage even if you're understanding of it because they aren't your friend or kid. That's an explanation, not excuse or get out of jail free, block em.

one more thing
"i just don't see how it's less 'problematic' to say that you find astarion sexier as an unhealed abuse victim/abuser so you're going to go the ascendant route than it is to say you find astarion sexier when he's mentally underage."
is a terrifying sentence

k can we stop like. outwright denying that butters is even a little bit nice? like, a little bit??
i suppose this comes from the dire need to de-woobify characters and? congratulations?? you did what you set out to do hooray. but just because butters is a bitch in the present doesnt mean he wasnt a sweetheart in the past, let’s not get crazy now.
he’s not an asshole to the bone, even if he has moments where he’s a complete douche. (hot take i think that dicketry comes from his environment as well as actions/words that are associated with “being cool” by his peers, those of whom he finds great admiration for, as opposed to unadulterated natural-born hate. then again all hate is taught in the first place…idk. getting off topic) he’s still kind, he’s still naive, he’s just also a dickhead sometimes. there’s a balance there. he’s not either/or. and people portraying his sweet side instead of his mean side is not the only butters interpretation in the world. get over yourselves
(also i could be wrong, but i feel like some of this take refers to marjorine/fem butters hcs aaaaand yall already know my take on this. putting butters in a dress doesn’t add or subtract to how morally correct or incorrect he is, and if you think it does then uh…hm..idk gang)
