Excerpt: Soon, although much too long later, Wei Wuxian returned, little beads of sweat like gems on his forehead from the urgency of his rowing as he made his way back to Lan Wangji. His mouth, too, was glistening, wet and sticky where he had bitten into a peach. “For you,” Wei Wuxian said, reaching out with the rest of the peach. Lan Wangji took it, never able to turn down any of Wei Wuxian’s gifts. As he did so, Wei Wuxian reached behind himself into something else stashed within the boat, and pulled out a blue and white flower bouquet. “And see here!” He smiled brighter with pride as he tucked the bouquet into the soft strap of Lan Wangji’s top. “I brought you flowers!” “Attempt the impossible,” Wei Wuxian had said to him from the dock just three short days ago, before he had leaned in and let Lan Wangji kiss him.

They’re definitely mates now that the dragon has accepted his fish. Merxian is so happy, especially when lwj cooks the fish for them and merxian can eat his husbands delicious cooking! Merxian wishes he knew how to speak the human tongue better so he could give many more compliments to his mate.

wwx: yummy!!

lwj: You liked it?

wwx: Mhm! Husband is good!

lwj freezes, his jaw dropping open by an inch in shock.

lwj: Husband…?

wwx: My husband! 😍😘🥰

lwj: …Then what are you?

Wei Wuxian would never regret falling in love with the man nor giving birth to their child "take care.... of a-Yuan" he whispered "I... love you" his final words echoed in their cave as his mythical blood painted the blue water red

"I love you! Wei Ying! Please don't leave me!" Lan Zhan cried over his increasingly cold body, he knew his son was already hidden, but his beloved, his dear Wei Ying... "please... please"

In the sacred cave only the pained whispers of a broken heart were heard for hours even aftef the sun set

New chapter of JIaoren is up ! Alongside the new art and Wen Qing's form reveal :D Hope you'll like it. As you can guess Wen Qing's form is inspired from Lord Satori in Zelda BOTW/TOTK, but also from Princess Mononoke deer god...I could not find the origin of that myth anywhere though uu except that deer are supposed to be god's messengers in Japan (a bit like moon rabbit in china?) so it fit her.

LXC is wearing purple because he had been given clothes from the Jiang sect...Also WWX's first appearance in the illustration!! Wouhou!! In the bakcground ! (it's to make up for one future chapter /illustration where he will probably be the star)

The more I write about due Yang the more I want him to have a beast form reveal like IZma in Kuzco.

Day IX: The Beach

Wei Ying watched from the shallows as the father and child played under the umbrella.

The boy was…like any human he supposed, fat and energetic, excited over the smallest of stones and sand dollars, proudly bringing each one back to his father like a treasure of the deep.

The man was beautiful. Classical in appearance with long dark hair, and a well defined body he had no shame in showing off on this secluded beach.

It was wrong to lurk and stare, it was dangerous for his kind, and what the humans called 'creepy'. He just didn't want to leave yet.

This beach had been his for decades. On one every came here because of how remote and small it was, and it was a little difficult to get to due to the rock slide in the seventies that destroyed the stairs down to it.

A few years ago the land had been bought up, a new staircase installed and the man and his son weekly visitors.

They happened to come at the hour of rising tide, when Wei Ying was sunning himself before heading back down for home. He was intrigued by them, not stupid enough to reveal himself. He still bore the scars from his first 'meeting' with humans, he was in no rush to repeat the mistake, nor worsen his Sunlight addiction.

He was content, for now, to leave the child gifts ofn the shoreline during low tide and watch them during high tide.

If either one came close, he slipped into the deep tidal pools within the cave to hide until they left.

"Yuan-er." The man was looking at his child from under the umbrella, he had pulled on a shirt, and he was pulling child-sized clothes from his bagm "It is time to go."

"Aww, but…baba." The child-Yuan-er-apparently, was closer than Wei Ying realized. He slid into the tidal pool behind him, sinking until his pale flesh blended with the white stones, his hair looked like seaweed, and his long tail melted into the darkness.

The boy moved around the pool. His tiny pudgy face, distorted by the water. He was holding something in his hands, looking down into the pool.

He blinked a few times before he dropped something into the water.

It was large round, and green. It floated through the water, fighting against the current to rise again. It nearly did, but Wei Ying snatched it out of the stream of sunlight and into his dark hole just as the boys father came into the cave to pull him away from the dark pool.

It was a lotus seed pod.

He'd only ever seen it once before. When the young woman helped him escape her families captivity. She pushed a sack of them into his arms, urging him to eat as she rowed him from the dark compound of twisting walkways, and treacherous lotus roots.

He hadn't ever had them again, not since he slipped into the river and swam up current towards the smell and safety of home.

How had the little boy come to know about him? Had he not been as careful as he thought? Did he know her? Did she tell him to give this to Wei Ying?

Did the father know about him? Was he using the boy to get Wei Ying to let his guard down?

There were so many questions and no answers. Though we knew what Qing-jie would say to all of this.

Keeping the seed pod close, Wei Ying waited until it was full dark before he left the cave, diving deep for home.

Is it less than three days before the end of the month?

Yes.

Do i still think i can catch up?

Yes.

My confidence and ambition is God's problem.

Hi, I'd like to recommend 'impossible to stay away, impossible to stay' by dragongirlG. I feel like it's tragically underrated. It's a Shape of Water AU featuring LWJ as a Chinese merperson and WWX as the janitor who rescues him from the research facility. It really captures the vibe of the movie, and it's a masterpiece in storytelling across different genres as well as in characterization. The way the author integrated Chinese culture and language was also very impressive.

Summary:  Wei Ying is a downtrodden janitor at the Wen Research Institute, cut off from his former life due to a restrictive employment contract. By chance he meets one of the institute's experimental subjects: a captive jiaoren (mercreature) named Lan Zhan, with whom he forms a deep and unexpected bond. When he witnesses Lan Zhan's life being threatened, he takes it upon himself to free the jiaoren and take him to safety. After a brief honeymoon period of domestic bliss, Wei Ying releases Lan Zhan back into the ocean so that Lan Zhan can make his way home. Months later, both of them are met with a joyful surprise when Wei Ying gets lost in the canals of Suzhou.

“Wei Ying!” And now he’s bristling all over, all his hair and scales on edge like a scalded cat. It suits him better than the way he’d been avoiding eye contact just seconds ago.

Much better, Wei Wuxian thinks. He can work with a furious, bitchy Lan Zhan. A sad one, he simply can’t stand.

Wei Wuxian reaches out before he can help it, captures Lan Zhan’s hand in his own. He looks down at it, stupidly, for a moment. What is it doing here, something so elegant and well-shaped? How did it come to be in his keeping?

“I’ll try harder,” he says softly. “I swear it, Lan Zhan. I’ll turn you back or die trying.”

“Wei Ying!” Lan Zhan clamps down on his fingers once, hard enough to leave bruises. Then he jerks his hand back like it’s been burnt. “No dying.”

“Sure thing!” Wei Wuxian laughs, but he wants to cry.

“No dying. Ever.”

He doesn’t look at Lan Zhan. Can’t, because he doesn’t deserve to revel in the loveliness of him, while he quietly resigns himself to living like this.

“Promise me.” Lan Zhan’s voice is firm. Insistent.

Summary:

Lan Xichen shudders, every thread of his blue robes trembling. “We’ve tried everything. Everything, Wei-gongzi. But it has been weeks, and we have achieved nothing. Wangji is – Wangji needs your help.”

“My help,” Wei Wuxian echoes. “You’re telling me the Second Jade of Lan has been transformed into a half-man, half-fish thing, and you believe I’m your best chance of saving him.”
