New songs or old songs revised?

Mouri and Sakabe haven't yet cooperated, will they reuse songs from the Nishida era? I highly doubt that they will reuse a majority, this gives Mouri a greater freedom to create a script that's really his. I'm sure he will draw inspiration from Nishida, but at since he's the father of Hakumyu, you know?

Good ending or bad ending?

Hard to say, there's one play twice and one play not his route by name. I, of course, hope there'll be a good ending for Kubohide. They might go with a similar strategy as Collar X Malice did and have one evening a good ending and one evening a bad ending.

Guest talk?

I think it's highly likely. Considering that almost all former Hijikata-actors are still actively connected to Hakumyu. This includes Yazaki, Gaku and Izawa. (Sasahide will be there, too of course.) Maybe we get lucky and a former HijiChizuru appears, but I don't have high hopes for that, since none of them is really active in the acting business. Mika lives in Kochi Prefecture on top of that.

Personal hopes?

I hope the songs for Chizuru are good and let Ruri shine in her profession as traditional singer. Maybe they can even use them as a BGM even, when the scene of going to Ezo comes (she is born in Hokkaido and has sung old Hokkaidoer songs before)

My friend @koto-wari hopes for the onigiri scene to be adapted and that the former "Ore dake no yume" and "Katana ni komeyo" scenes gonna be good and be ripping our hearts apart.

And well the most essential thing has to be:

The lead dynamic: between Kubohide and Ruri

The group dynamic: between Kubohide and his friends, comrades and the Shinsengumi.

What are some other artists do you listen to beside Taylor Swift? Do you listen to Japanese music?

it’s actually very rare for me to get really into a single artist’s entire body of work, i usually like listening to playlists of songs by genre or time period, or download single songs that i hear and love. songs are kind of like perfume for me in that i associate single songs with specific memories or times in my life.

but i guess i listen to a lot of music from decades past! janet jackson, phil collins, gloria gaynor, carol king, elton john, chicago, ELO, fleetwood mac, everything but the girl, the style council, the fortunes, pet shop boys, sade, goo goo dolls, keane, imogean heap

all the newer artist stuff i listen to is really through taylor’s playlists and recommendations i love literally everything and everyone she’s recommended. i guess in particular beebadoobee and the japanese house, and bleachers of course.

in terms of japanese music i like all kinds of music.. like turn on any music countdown tv special here in japan and i will know most of the songs. to list some names though.. noriyuki makihara, B’z, toshinobu kubota, chage and asuka, southern all stars, GLAY, DA PUMP, sakanaction, sekai no owari, ai otsuka, beni, mika nakajima, paris match, ryoko hirosue, kiyoshi hikawa, ken hirai, gen hoshino, sometimes i’ll get nostalgic for my youth and listen to larc en ciel, hide, gackt etc

more recently i am really into this artist Azana, i love her voice so much!! you should all look her up.

More details about M-Ai subeki hito ga ite

As we approach the premiere date, we’re learning more details about the upcoming drama based on Ayu’s rise to fame starring Kalen Anzai as Ayu and Shohei Miura as “Masa,” producer Max Matsuura. 

EXILE’s Alan Shirahama joins the cast as Masa’s “right-hand man” at A VICTORY, Sho Nagarukawa.

Katsunori Takahashi is playing a character named Nakatani, who is described as the president of a company Ayu works for. Will this address her Nippon Columbia days?

Masanobu Takashima will play Ohama, the president of A VICTORY. Fans of actual Avex may recall that Ayu and Max essentially staged a coup that forced founder and then-president Tatsumi Yoda to resign in 2004, and one has to wonder if any bad blood will surface here.

However, the most important addition is surely as Minami Tanaka as Reika Himeno: Masa’s secretary with a “mysterious eyepatch.” Why is it so mysterious?

The rest of the supporting cast includes:

Sayu Kubota plays Risa Tamki, another singer and Ayu’s first friend in Tokyo.

Mayuko Kawakita plays Mika Nojima, Ayu’s manager.

Michiko Tanaka as Asuka Yoshida, Ohama’s Secretary--no word on whether or not she will have an eyepatch (preferably also mysterious and over the other eye).

Shinya Niiro as Kiraku Tenmei, a producer at A VICTORY.

Yoshie Ichige as Sachiko, Ayu’s grandmother (Ayu’s grandmother helped raise her and passed away the day she recorded her debut single, “poker face”)

Ayaka Den--Avex Artist Academy alum and member of OnePixcel- as Mari Nishitani, Ayu’s rival.

Natsuhi Ueno as Satomi Shiina, one of Ayu’s relatives in Tokyo.

Kena Mizue as Naoki Sayama, owner of the bar Masa goes to (perhaps a stand-in for the Velfarre nightclub?)

While Kalen--herself a young artist signed with Avex--will be promoting a new single at the beginning of April, the theme song for the show will actually be the original “M” that inspired the book. 

The show begins airing April 18.
