Tuesday Tunes 144: Countries
If you saw last week’s Tuesday Tunes you’ll know that one of the songs I played was John Mellencamp’s American Fool. This planted a little seed in my brain, which has grown into this week’s theme. I thought, why not play songs which are about countries, or have the name of a country in their title? It didn’t take me long to realise that there are a huge number, so this is another of those themes…

What's a Little Creepy About the FBI's Arrest Warrant for a Blaze News Reporter
We have another instance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation going off the reservation. A Blaze News reporter who has done a couple of stories on the January 6 riot, which embarrassed the Justice Department, will be forced to turn himself in on Friday. Steve Baker has cooperated with the Justice Department, which has had Baker on their radar for months.
The creepy part about this story is that this reporter doesn’t know what charges he’s facing. The FBI has instructed him to wear clothing that suggests he’ll be forced to wear an orange jumpsuit. However, the Justice Department told Baker and his legal team that misdemeanors were the only charges facing the journalist. The outlet had all the details about the legal drama in a lengthy post, including the stories that might have painted a target on Baker’s back
youtube
"They didn’t have to go this route," Baker told Blaze News on Tuesday evening. "We have been told that my charges are only misdemeanors. And my attorneys have been assured that this will be an ‘in and out’ affair with 'no intention' to detain me. But rather than issuing a simple order to appear, they went the 'arrest warrant' route."  What's more, Baker said he still does not know what the charges against him are, noting to Blaze News that the powers that be won't tell his attorney about the charges because they believe Baker will post them on social media.  Baker's Dallas attorney, James Lee Bright, added to Blaze News that withholding the nature of the charges against his client is a "really unusual" move. Bright also said he's hoping to get a copy of the complaint against Baker as early as possible Friday morning.  […]  Bright told Blaze News that he's "disturbed" about what's transpiring with his client, especially given that Baker has been "in full compliance" all this time. Bright also said the federal government "three-plus years later going after people who were legitimate functioning journalists that day" appears designed to have an "absolute chilling effect."  […]  Baker added that when he asked his other attorney, William Shipley, why the federal government is treating him like this, Shipley replied, "You know why. You've been poking them in the eye for three years"
Baker's first Jan. 6 analysis for Blaze News came last October, following countless hours in a House subcommittee office looking at frame after frame of Jan. 6 closed-circuit video — and it had him wondering: did Capitol Police Special Agent David Lazarus perjure himself in the Oath Keepers trial?
Soon after, the slow pace of getting an unrestricted look at everything recorded on video prompted Blaze Media editor in chief Matthew Peterson's appeal to House Speaker Mike Johnson to release all the videos. On Nov. 17, Johnson did just that.
Baker's investigative efforts also resulted in two additional analyses, both focusing on Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn: "January 6 and the N-word that wasn't" and "Harry Dunn's account of January 6 does not add up. At all."
In December, Baker alleged he uncovered major irregularities involving Dunn, Capitol Police, the press, and U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland).
In January, Baker asserted that just-released U.S. Capitol closed-circuit TV video clips from Jan. 6 show Lazarus gave false testimony in the Oath Keepers trial.
Like Michael Shellenberger, Matt Taibbi, and Alex Gutentag, Baker also touched upon the curious case of the January 6 pipe bomber and the alleged targeting of the Republican National Committee, wherein new evidence suggests that the RNC was not the target. The FBI might have misrepresented the location of the supposed explosive device, which a then-FBI contractor discovered.
The FBI has harassed and targeted pro-life activists, so going after reporters who have questioned their narratives about some highly politicized stories isn’t shocking. The Obama CIA and DOJ colluded to manufacture a fake narrative about Russian collusion against Donald Trump. The FBI made up evidence to justify an illegal FISA spy warrant against Trump campaign officials. The FBI and the Secret Service appear to be engaged in a cover-up regarding the ever-elusive pipe bomber who cannot be found. They can find hundreds who entered the Capitol building that day, but not this guy.

Official Report on The Intransitionalist Chronotopologies of Kenji Siratori (TRS 109)
Tumblr media
YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THE INEFFABLE FOREST
youtube
Official Report on The Intransitionalist Chronotopologies of Kenji Siratori: Appendix 8.2.3 is a xenopoetic data/dada anthology that documents the activities of the artist collective The Ministry of Transrational Research into Anastrophic Manifolds. The anthology results from an experimental approach to impersonal literary composition. Similar to surrealist definitions, but on the scale of a technical document, members of the Ministry—poets, musicians, novelists, painters, curators, artists, scientists, philosophers, and physicians—were asked to offer a microfiction, poem, essay, fictional citation, or computer code, in the form of a footnote or annotation to a glitch-generated novel by iconoclastic Japanese artist Kenji Siratori; however, each participant wrote their contribution without any access to or knowledge about the nature of Siratori’s source text. After collecting the contributions, the “footnotes” were each algorithmically linked to an arbitrary word from Siratori’s novel. The result is a work of xenopoetic emergence: a beautifully absurd, alien document scintillating with strange potency. Bringing together algorithmically and AI-generated electronic literature with analogue collage and traditional modes of literary composition, the Ministry refuses to commit solely to digital, automated, or analogue art and instead seeks technological mutualism and a radically alien future for the arts. Accompanied by a groundbreaking original score by electro-acoustic duo Wormwood, the anthology offers the radical defamiliarization and weird worlds of science fiction, but now the strangeness bites back on the level form. Readers should expect to discover strange portals from which new ways of thinking, feeling, and being emerge. A conceptual and experimental anthology, Official Report on The Intransitionalist Chronotopologies of Kenji Siratori inaugurates collective xenopoetic writing and the conceit that the future of art will consist of impersonal acts of material emergence, not personal expression. Consume with caution.

Fun fact, Matthew Shepard was killed in Laramie, Wyoming, where the population was about 27,000. Now a country singer from a wealthy “small town” suburb more than ten times that size wants to sing you a song about how they’ll kill you if you step out of line. Yes, we know. - Mike Shipley

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney shocked the college football world when he hired offensive coordinator Garrett Riley away from TCU earlier this month. Since then, Riley has been on the road with Swinney and the offensive coaches recruiting and checking in on the 2023 signees who will enroll in the summer. Riley has yet to make a public speaking appearance, but that will change when the Fort Hill Clemson Club holds its Recruiting Wrap-Up on Feb. 1. It's also a chance for fans to get an early look at the mid-year enrollees. The Club will host the 2023 Recruiting Wrap Up on Wednesday, February 1 at the Poe Indoor Practice Facility, from 5:45 pm until 7:30 pm. Doors will open at 5 pm. All proceeds go toward need-based scholarships for students in Oconee & Pickens Counties, as well as Pendleton High School. This endowment is over $670,000 now, and the Fort Hill Clemson Club hopes to make it a million by 2025. These scholarships are for students from this area who need help. Not athletes, not IPTAY. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and his coaches will be there to introduce with video footage the latest recruiting class, especially the mid-years. Chick-fil-A provides the food for the evening and there is an online auction with unique Clemson experiences, such as lunch for four with Kathleen Swinney and a tour of the Football Complex (those were the two big-ticket items last year). General Admission tickets for the 2023 Recruiting Wrap Up are on sale for $60/ticket. Current members will have the opportunity to save $10 on each ticket. Quick note: Since this event occurs during the NCAA recruiting dead period, no 9th – 12th graders, prep school students, or junior college students may be in attendance. All children over the age of 3 must have their own ticket. The event is a great chance to listen to the position coaches – quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Riley, running backs coach CJ Spiller, tight ends coach Kyle Richardson, offensive line coach Thomas Austin, wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham, defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Wes Goodwin, defensive tackles coach Nick Eason, defensive ends coach Lemanski Hall, cornerbacks coach Mike Reed, and safeties coach Mickey Conn – share the inside story of the recruiting class. Listening to Eason is worth the price of admission in itself. There are always interesting nuggets about the players themselves – in the past we’ve heard about Will Shipley and his penchant for wearing old tennis shoes, we’ve heard about Cade Klubnik and his long love affair with Clemson, and numerous other stories. It’s also a chance to get a look at the uniform numbers for those freshmen, which include Peter Woods, Christopher Vizzina, Vic Burley, TJ Parker, Stephiylan Green, Harris Sewell, Jamal Anderson, Zechariah Owens, Ian Reed, Noble Johnson, Kylen Webb, Khalil Barnes, Dee Crayton, and Shelton Lewis. You can purchase your tickets here. More info on the event: How long will the event last? The event is around 2 hours. What are the ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? Since this event occurs during the NCAA recruiting dead period, no 9th – 12th graders, prep school students, or junior college students may be in attendance. All children over the age of 3 must have their own ticket. Where can I contact the organizer with any questions? Please contact [email protected] with any additional questions about the event. Is my registration/ticket transferrable? Your ticket is transferrable as long as the person is in possession of the email with the ticket or printed ticket from the email. What are my parking options for the event? Parking will be directed by event parking attendants and will be in the designated areas around the Poe Indoor Football Facility. Is the Clear Bag Policy in effect for this event? Yes, it is. This applies to camera bags. What's the refund policy if(typeof ez_ad_units != 'undefined')ez_ad_units.push([[300,250],'tigernet_com-leader-1','ezslot_3',609,'0','0']);__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-tigernet_com-leader-1-0');
Sorry, there are no refunds because proceeds from this event help provide academic scholarships for local students to attend Clemson University. source

Cephalonegativity: On the Theater of Decapitation (Apocalypse Party, 2021)
A collaborative play written w/ multimedia artist/writer Mike Corrao.
Purchase HERE and HERE.
On Goodreads.
"Fully exploiting the Gogolesque conceit of a cephalophore whose body and head go their own separate ways, Cephalonegativity reads like Beckett’s Play (with M reprised as an even more slippery version of himself) or Not I as if performed by the secret society of Acéphale. Archaic turns of phrase and elision combine with post-cinematic headlessness to produce a stage play that plays with stages and stages play, a lesescenario from the velveteen tongue of an heretical zealot, its phrases as if slurped up off an abattoir floor, or off the rotted walls of a theatre-cum-poisoned-amniotic-sac where the performers have all become kuroko. Read out loud, at speed, in honour of its progenitors, the words turn into “chunks of hot pomegranate meat” in your mouth-turned-anus, with your gills agape, your mutinous soma exsanguinated, levitating above you, your head on fire singing like litel clergeon from the catacombs."
—Gary J. Shipley, author of 30 Fake Beheadings
"In pursuing a theatrical treatment of the Self's head and body and self-selves, through a Bataillean notion of headlessness, through typographical humor and rupture, through a Dada-esque document of volatile mirror-pages and chorus, Cephalonegativity makes of itself a gaping gesture: a neck-stub that is a mouth that is singing out and commenting on the ritual of being present. The reader dials in via "a rotary anus" and watches a body hanging as a tail in its coprolalic spooky plastic underwater gloom psychedelia cum outer space inside of a mouth cum cult orgy. "DO/ YOU SEE THE END OF TIME? THE APPROACHING/ WALL? WHEN THE THEATRICAL BECOMES THE/ APOCALYPTIC? ENACTING A DISTORTED REALI-/ TY AS THIN LAYERS OVER THIS ONE?" This text is a porous fabric through which we might perform the wound of the stage as we watch it rot."
—Olivia Cronk, author of Womonster

The Supernatural Sailor Kent Menace Rises This May
The Supernatural Sailor Kent Menace Rises This May
With nicknames like “Weird Hero for Today” and “Aquaman on Acid,” I have to say, I’m curious as to what kind of adventures Kent Menace gets up to. American Mythology Productions has announced a new director’s cut issue digging into the first adventures of the mysterious mariner in Kent Menace #0 from Scott Braden and Mike Malbrough. Kent’s backstory is pure pulp with watery depths, infernal…

i just spent an hour going through the ace attorney wiki and compiling a doc of every character in the main 6 games and their heights (because hyperfixation). so if you’ve ever wondered which characters you’re the same height as, now you can find out. if a character appears in any of those 6 games and does not appear here, they either don’t have a cannon height or they weren’t on the wiki for that game and i haven’t played it so i didn’t know they existed. if a character is listed as having multiple heights, this is not a mistake on my part this is either a mistake of the guide books or they’ve gotten taller throughout the series.
