Correct me if I'm wrong but was it even mentioned why Chloe hates Marinette? I thought bc she (Mari) stood up to her (Chloe) but she hated her even before that. Or it's just
Chloe rich girl =bad
Marinette main heroine = good
Nope. After FIVE SEASONS, we never got a single explanation as to what Chloe's issue with Marinette is. For a show written by someone who prides himself on how Chloe's arc was planned from the beginning, it's funny how he forgot to do the basic thing and give her a motivation for her other than "She's rich, and therefore, evil".
Once again, this is another point in the movie's favor, as it actually showed how the Chloe in this continuity started to hate Marinette. But then again, I guess wanting a basic explanation for why one of the show's more important characters chooses to antagonize Marinette is just something we want, and don't actually need.

I have a theory as to why we hardly ever see Luka and Adrien interact, which coincidentally is also why Adrien and Nino’s friendship got nerfed.
It’s because for the first like. 4 seasons? Marinette is convinced Adrien has an amazing perfect life. Sure, she knows his dad is strict, but she doesn’t once think about trying to help him break out from the abuse the way Nino did in the Bubbler until it directly involved her when she started dating Adrien in season 5.
That’s why the writers made sure to write a storyline that solidified Adrien never telling Nino that he’s Chat Noir.
And that’s another reason Luka got shipped off to Brazil timeline-wise a WEEK after he discovered Adrien was Chat Noir and his home life was more fucked up than he originally imagined (Remember, Luka learned Adrien’s childhood dream is to be exactly what his parents wanted which is super depressing.)
Adrien’s friendship with these boys would be too powerful and the writers are acutely aware of this. So they wrote storylines to isolate Adrien even further so that only Marinette can “save” him in season 5.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Since the finale is just around the corner, complete with a whole mountain of salt, I wanna throw one last salt before the tsunami.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will never find it not ironic that this line basically saying your circumstances doesn't excuse your behavior, DURING an episode excusing someone's behavior because they have some circumstances.
Anyway, I'll see you all in the finale. I hope you all stay sane after that.

Anyway, I just know Shadybug is going to be the best villain this show has and the baddest bitch alive because she's Marinette.
Hawkmoth? Played out.
Chloe? Boring.
Felix & Lila? Awful writing.
Villain!Adrien? We have like 10 of those.
But Villain!Marinette??? We have never seen that before because she's too powerful. The show would end if Marinette even got akumatized, according to Astruc. Marinette never gives up. She always wins, and now she's the villain. And if Shadybug's world is anything like the main universe, then all of the other villains must have been defeated by her by now. If this Marinette is anything like our own, then she probably doesn't even see herself as in the wrong.
Shadybug is the ultimate threat, the strongest antagonist that Marinette will ever face because she is her.
Shadybug is canon Saltinette.

Andre Bourgeois: "I should have done this years ago"
Me: "Oh finally, you're actually gonna become a better parent ( for once ) by not enabling Chloe's actions and teach her from what's right and wrong?"
Andre Bourgeois: "What nonsense are you talking about?"
"I'm a poor but privileged grown white man that's been abused by my stupid teenage daughter that's been using me as an escape goat for her horrible misdeeds"
*Cries with sad yet expensive violin music playing in the background while wiping his tears with a golden tissue*
"Abusive and Neglectful parents do not exist and it's nothing more than a myth, children/teenagers on the other hand are not capable to change no matter what we innocent, lovable and far more capable to change adults do."
"And for that, I will send her to my abusive ex-wife as a lesson for all the wrong things she's done. And that my friend is why I'll be remembered as a good father who will be known in social media to have a great character development by abandoning my heartless child that I raised on my own, to my abusive ex-wife"
Me: '...You have far more potential to become a prisoner than a director..'

As an Adrien stan who used to defend his writing back during season 3, I take everything back. I feel so sorry about the way he’s been treated by the writers—always put aside, always unaware of what’s happening even when it specifically concerns him.
“It’s better that he doesn’t know that his father was a villain.”
No, it isn’t. Marinette doesn’t get to decide that, Adrien does. He deserves to know that his father was an abuser. Gabriel doesn’t deserve to be remembered as a hero. I wasn’t expecting, nor did I want it, that Gabriel was going to be exposed to everyone because that would’ve reflected badly on Adrien, so I would understand if Marinette wanted to protect him from that. What it’s not fair is keeping him in the dark.
“But Adrienette is finally canon, aren’t you happy?”
As a hardcore Lovesquare fan since season 1, I absolutely am not. I wanted their relationship to be about honesty and trust. Why would I, as an Adrien stan, want him next to a person who’s lying to him? Who will likely be lying to him for the rest of their lives? Mind you, I’m not blaming Marinette (I love her even more than I love Adrien); I’m blaming the writing. For having us believe that any sort of criticism of the show comes from a place of misunderstanding of the canon material, because God forbid someone has an opinion that doesn’t align with the writers’ idea.
Anyways, Marinette and Adrien deserved so much better. Everyone did.

"You know, you and I were a lot closer before your mother disappeared" were you?? Because Adrien doesnt act lile someone whos had a loving family for most of his life that got ripped apart when his mom died, he acts like someone who was always extremely isolated and isnt used to affection bc his parents barely showed him any, atleast in my own humble opinion

Good grief, so this show is really just doing this with every single fandom complaint they have huh?
Tumblr media
Marinette is stalking Adrien? Well, she has PTSD from Chloe and Kim, so it's completely justified and by criticizing it, you are being inconsiderate of mental health.
The statue kiss was disgusting? Jokes on you, Adrien was into it and was actually the turning point for him to realize his feelings for Marinette.
Chloe is a victim of emotional abuse from her mother? Well, let's shoehorn Zoe in and make Mylene's mom leave her to show that Chloe's turmoil is insignificant.
Gabriel Agreste is an awful parent? He's just a very sad man who misses his wife. Why don't you look at what Lila and Chloe are doing? These developing teenage girls are way more evil than a fully matured adult.
Chat Noir is a bad partner and constantly bothers Ladybug on the job? Let's take away the rest of the miraculous and make it so that Ladybug only has him to turn to. Perfect.
I was going to write an essay looking in on this further, but some people have already done it really well and I'm honestly too tired to care. A girl can't go through the Chloe Bourgeois tag in hopes of fanart without coming across the dumpster fire that is canon. Sigh.

Character salt for Miraculous Ladybug is so bizarre that I can't take it seriously most of the time. Everytime a character gets criticized, my mind jumps back to how incredibly stupid the people who write Miraculous Ladybug, specifically Astruc ofc, are. Like it would be one thing if these critcisms came up if the show was actually good, but it isnt. Marinette and Adrien just function like mouthpiece puppets to push the world's most asinine storylines for whatever deranged narrative the writers are cooking this week.
After what happened with Chloe + Felix and how the butchered Marinette, Adrien and Kagami or how they glorified Gabriel. It's hard to take the Adrien, Marinette, Felix, Chloe, or (insert character name) salt seriously. This show actually tried to play good victim, bad victim and abuse apologia with me. Sorry I'm not highly invested in character critcisms. This show is too busy being a garbage fire mess. The show is so fundamentally broken at its base that character critcisms feel meaningless. The shows own writers have the most backwards ass line of thinking, and you're telling me the problem is Adrien and Marinette have no sense of personal boundaries or decorum? When the shows writers themselves exaggerate their worst behaviour for comedy or slapstick??
Maybe this is just reductionist (sorry I guess), but character salt feels meaningless when the themes of the show themselves are so backwards or poorly thought out and done.

What killed the show for you?
A lot, actually. But it wasn't all at once. It was like slowly creeping in, and then the rest hit me in the face with a loud, resounding BAM.
It started off with noticing how Marinette was being treated. Like I said before, she was being punished for basically everything she did. She could sneeze at the wrong moment and the show would 'punish' her for that behavior and basically show everyone that by sneezing she ruined the ambiance of whatever was going on.
She had to apologize for things that weren't her fault but it was painted out like she was.
Made her crush/love for Adrien seem super creepy as opposed to his love for Ladybug.
Marinette has basically only been allowed temporary happiness. She had to see a future when the world ended all because she wanted to do something for Adrien and 'abused' her power as Ladybug... if that were an actual rule you would think that Gabriel would have been slapped in the face down into a grave with how he used his Miraculous.
From there is got worse, then other characters started to get terrible writing when Lila arrived. She was an interesting antagonist, but like they hammed her up so much. She would be on screen and the writing for the surrounding characters got worse. It was odd and it didn't make watching enjoyable anymore. It was frustrating! Like you mean to tell me no one else caught on to her ridiculous lies besides Marinette and Marinette only knows because of her creepy crush making her stalk Adrien? Wack.
And like the whole class fell for it? Nah, there would be some who don't, and the fact they decided no, everyone will believe her except Marinette is lazy and ridiculous. Maybe if her lies were more believable I'd tolerate it but from that point on the show just frustrated me.
There was nothing to look forward to despite me desperately clutching at the show and begging it to catch my attention and affection once more.
There's also the fact that the show has like no to little continuity. Even shows meant for younger audiences have SOME. And I know because my nephew watches so many shows, he is currently 5, so I think you can guess the kind of shows he watches. Even they have some levels of continuity and it make sense!
ML doesn't have that or didn't before I stopped watching.
They have a romance they are desperately trying to sell as true love.
They have a villain they tried to get you to see has doing the wrong thing for the right reasons.
A villain they also tried to sell loved his son but it couldn't be more obvious that he doesn't.
They have the notion of friendship concurs all, but it's not really sticking, much like undercooked pasta to a wall.
And other reasons.
But hey, these are my reasons, and I am in no way saying other fans should stop watching. If they can still find things about the show enjoyable, then I'm happy for them! I hope they have a great time following the show as it continues.
It's just not for me anymore.

I still find it hilarious that show can't decide whether or not Chloe was a joke or an actual threat.
Either option would be an okay way to take the character, but the show is trying to have it both ways. In the end, nobody is happy.

I've been a Luka stan for about a year now, and while I admit there are stereotypes that goes with guitar players (and they CAN be true!)
I would like to extend the fact that he also knows how to play classical violin, among other stringed instruments, and was also raised by a musician, his mother Anarka.
Luka MOST DEFINITELY knows how to read sheet music, and knows music theory like the back of his hand.
Nobody's trash talking Adrien about his music knowledge because he's been studying classical piano, but why not classical violin Luka? Is it because he's a fork in the road of the Love Square?
Sorry, he's not a stereotype of a fuckboy guitarist, but instead just a talented guy with an atlas complex, but I digress.

Yknow, the "Lila is Manon from the future" theory actually makes sense simply bcs we've seen a whole bunch of out of nowhere plot throughout S5. I mean, what's stopping them from making this canon? Surely it won't be their competence as writers.

So, serious question here:
Tumblr media
Why wasn't she the one to take over Paris?
Like, if Chloe can become "interm Mayor" because she's the daughter of the Mayor, then surely the Mayor's wife can do the same thing? In fact, it makes way more sense if Audrey stages a coup because she's an adult, she's power hungry, she's an adult, she's in Gabriel's inner circle, she's an adult, she's a rich world famous celebrity and staging coups is just something they do now (like Trump), and she's an adult!
It's not even like she's too busy to be a Mayor, because 80% of her screen time is living it up and you know... not working? Also being president certainly didn't stop Trump from running his business
