I personally love and obsess over disillusioned and self-isolating protagonists which is one of the reasons why I advocate for a Young Wizard who just leans so much into their role as the Savior that they're now just this broken down individual who now genuinely shares everyone's fears and legends of them of being this Ultra Powerful, Non-Human, Above-All-The-Peasants Legend Amongst Men. Being picked apart and analyzed (INCORRECTLY might I add) by strangers and people who fear/hate/revere you, no matter where you go or what you do, over and over and OVER it just literally whittles away at who you used to be, what used to make you happy and now you're replaced with what everyone made you into. Not You, but a Hero.

But you know what's even better ���😈😈 a wizard who cracks in a different way and is now just baaaareeely holding it together. A wizard who just is not All There anymore. A wizard who's Good Maybe, but someone who genuinely gives you a GOOD REASON to fear a switch in allegiance. Someone who reminds you that your entire life depends on their mood

Give me Harley Quinn YW, give me a YW who cackles and shrieks in joy as they batter the evil to the ground, give me a YW who pushes at the very edge of the EXTREMES even when they don't need to. I want a YW who doesn't carry around a gleaming sword, or a mystical staff, but a bat with nails studded inside or a rusty machete; I want poems and songs of not a Hero but a wolf in sheep's clothing who just barely gets by in masquerading as the Commoners. Misguided

Summary: At first Seonghwa had no problem that you went to a concert but the second he discussed it with his members his feelings turned sour.

A/N: @mingsolo brought the idea to the net and obviously I - as well as @daemour and @sanjoongie - immediately jumped on board! So jealous Ateez when you go on a concert... (mine's definitely based on that discussion video!) Also this is my first try of a semi social media au!!!

Seonghwa paced around the living room, listening to your voicemail for the umpteenth time. He rubbed his hand tiredly over his face before he sat down on the couch and opened the group chat with his members.

Seonghwa leaned back against the couch, sighing deeply as the memories of your conversation flooded in again. He switched from the group chat to your private one. His thumbs flying over the screen as he typed yet another message.

Yet the constant notifications of the group chat brought his attention back to the guys.

Seonghwa had grown more and more insecure over the time he chatted with his group members. Having read all their reasoning made him agitated. He slammed his fist on the couch table and threw his phone into the pillows next to him.

As Seonghwa plummeted deeper and deeper in despair, the words of his members echoing in his mind and letting jealousy rage inside of his chest, the door to the apartment opened. Seonghwa nearly jumped up from the couch, his head snapping towards the door. 

You walked into the apartment, the bliss from the concert radiating off of you. Though you stopped short in your tracks the second your eyes landed on Seonghwa. Your brows furrowed in worry. 

“Did you have fun?”

You almost flinched from the tone Seonghwa used upon asking that question. He had his hands balled into fists next to his body, shaking from the suppressed anger bubbling inside of him. “I”, you hesitated, unsure whether you should answer his question or get to the bottom of his behaviour. 

Seconds passed before you finally got a decision and walked closer to Seonghwa. “Did something happen?”

“Shouldn’t you know.” Seonghwa scoffed and shook his head. Deep down inside he knew he acted foolishly but he couldn’t stop the words of jealousy tumbling out of his mouth. No, instead he accused you of liking one of the members from the idol group you just watched.

Seonghwa watched you, watched as his accusations hit you and how your expression fell with every word that left his lips. The more he said, the more he realised how hurtful his words were. He stopped in his ranting, breathing heavily as his eyes darted all over your form.

You wrapped your arms around your middle, taking a step back again. “We talked about the concert. I saw your messages and I know you remembered I was going.” You desperately tried to hold back the tears in your eyes. The confusion about his sudden mood shift, the tone of his voice and how he accused you of something so stupid made you get defensive. “If you had a problem with me going, why didn’t you say so before I went?! I could have considered your feelings beforehand, instead of feeling guilty about having had fun today.”

Seonghwa stumbled over his own words. “I… I didn’t have a problem with it. I…”

“Then why did you blow up on me just now?”

Distressed, Seonghwa walked over to you, hands already rubbing over your arms. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. This was stupid and I shouldn’t have listened to the guys and…”

“The guys?” You raised an eyebrow and jutted out your lower lip. “What do they have to do with this?” You noticed the awkward smile on his face and you got a feeling Seonghwa got influenced by the others again.

“Well”, Seonghwa rubbed the back of his neck and looked down at his feet, embarrassed by his own behaviour.

You sighed and rolled your eyes before you wrapped your arms around his middle. You nuzzled against his chest. “Let me guess. One of them indicated something about jealousy and at least one more person - if not half of them - rubbed into that until you got lost in your head.”

“Yeah”, Seonghwa sighed and placed his cheek on top of your head as he pulled you into a hug. “It was stupid. I shouldn’t have listened to them.”

“That and you should know I love you. I always come back to you no matter where I go. And the same goes for you! Even when you go abroad and see lots of new people, you always come back to me.”

Seonghwa chuckled softly, tightening his hold on you. “That’s true. I’ll always come back to you.”

“Good! Now let me wash up and then go to bed.” You gently hit his chest and pushed away from him. “Use the chance to tell them off or I’ll do it after a good night’s rest.” With that you got on your toes and pecked his lips, leaving Seonghwa in the middle of the living room.

A deep sigh escaped his lips once you were out of the room. The heavy feeling pressing down on his whole body had vanished, only the inkling of annoyance towards his team members still residing in his thoughts. Seonghwa quickly strided over to the couch and grabbed his phone again, seeing a bunch of missed messages.

Something is wrong.

Aleksander was supposed to have met her for breakfast in her chambers. It wouldn’t be the first time they’d done such a thing, since the head of the Oprichniki is supposed to check in with him regularly. It allows both of them to get work done & eat in a companionable mostly-silence—when they weren’t griping about incompetent nobles & royals. If something came up, Aleksander makes sure to tell Jayn, either in person or via messenger, that way she won’t worry or wait up for him. But he hasn’t said anything & it’s over an hour into their mealtime. He doesn’t sleep in, because he loves getting to watch the sunrise, bathing in its hopeful, gentle light while the Little Palace is still quiet.

Jayn pulls on the rest of her uniform’s layers (she’d been in her sleeping pants & usual shirt), plus her boots, then goes to Aleksander’s chambers herself. She knocks on his door, already coming up with plans in case he was sick or somehow injured by an assassin. He’s fine, the little Zemeni girl in her says gently.

No, he’s not.

“Al—" She squeezes her eyes shut for a second to calm down. “Moi soverenyi, it’s Jayn. Can you open the door, please?” He’s her responsibility, not to mention her confidant & friend. She needs visual proof that he’s alright.

It's complicated now seeing both sides of the same coin in the Villain AU I think no one is bad when it benefits the people who suffer like Kobie does Cuphead know he saved Kobie

That’s exactly what this AU is about! The characters aren’t straight up heartless villains. They each have a backstory and a reasoning for being where they are in life. Some more avoidable than others, some understandable and some less.

Something like Bendy and Boris not finding eachother and being adopted into different families. Cup deciding to pursue a better life and not being able to see what he’s becoming and Mugman practically giving up on trying to stop him from that.

No one is truely bad (maybe moreover moral grey area) but not completely evil. Except for maybe Devil and Dice but its for obvious reasons.

And I’m assuming that last part was a question.

Yes, Cuphead does know that he saved Kobie. But Kobie, like other demons, doesn’t like to admit weakness and that he needed saving. And Kobie HATES talking about his time under the Devil. So Cup doesn’t bring it up.

What are the odds of, 20 years from now, IS releasing a 3 Houses remake but with:

most of the “uwu” moments removed

Edelgard being constantly and explicitly portrayed as a villain with characters calling her out on her actions

Massively reduced recruitment options

deeper worldbuilding for Almyra and Adrestia

Claude explicitly adressing that Almyra's just as much at fault for it's bad relations with Fodlan as the other way around and swearing to work to get them to stop pillaging and taking child slaves

TWISTD not being so story-breakingly OP

CF not existing at all, or at least being rewritten from the ground up and being fully finished instead of a glorified reskin of another route

Dimitri's friends, especially Dedue, supporting him and being important for his character development instead of just Byleth

Byleth being fully-voiced and having a very clearly-defined personality and beliefs, being an Avatar only in the fact that the player can choose a different name for them but otherwise being a normal FE protagonist

Rhea's S-support being erased from existence, along with her getting new supports with her family and friends and more plot relevance post-timeskip

Sothis' S-support also being erased, especially if CF still exists, and having her be rewritten so that she only gets her memory back right before fusing with Byleth, apologizing to her children for leaving them alone again but refusing to let Byleth die, staying unambiguously dead for the rest of the game

I highly doubt any of this will ever happen, mind, but if it did, 3H might just jump multiple spots into being one of the best FE games lol

FE16's main appeal is the uwu factor, you have to feel bad for Supreme Leader who is sekritly the red emperor, even if she does red emperor things.

That's the basis on which FE16 was built, a lot of parasocial pandering towards Supreme Leader, which will make the player feel "sad uwus" when they will have to fight her, always wondering if they couldn't have picked her route instead.

(I say "sad uwus" and not "feel bad", because Fates made the player feel bad, by having characters react to Corn's choice, and Corn, in turn, reaction to all the salt and shit thrown at their face, as the result of their actions).

And while we could think FE16 is also a story meant to challenge the players, and have them realise they're interacting with biased narrators so it's up to them to find the truth and make their own opinion about the world - imo this reading, while a thousand times more interesting than "uwu be sad uwu" is, imo, not the one the devs prioritized, hence the constant supply of Hresvelg Grey.

As I ultimately came to realise (when nopes was released lol), no Fodlan game can circle around and ignore the uwu factor. Uwuing about Earl Grey and always being a carpet to some lord characters is part of Fodlan's DNA - the faves will always take precedence over the world/lore's coherence.

Clout wonders about Fodlan's isolationism and if it has any relationship with Seiros's tenets? No one, not even Hilda, will tell him that Fodlan might not like its neighbours because said neighbours are always trying to invade them (as she could speak for Almyra). Leonie and Claude wonder if they will get some sort of retribution for saying out loudly they don't believe everything good in the world comes from Sothis... when the Alliance is later revealed to be a place where no one really gives a fuck about religion, and when no line, on-screen, has been thrown around that could justify their doubt and worries (not even a random NPC dissing people for being students in the officer's academy even if they are not particularly religious).

Supreme Leader is another can of tea lol, but you get the meaning.

This is also why, I believe, we will never get WoH meaningful content (and not Epi wanting to use the power of friendship to help his genociding fwends!) because we can't uwu about it -

Much like every story centered on the Lions (even if AM got the Parley scene...), a plot hax has to happen to make you forget everything about the red emperor emperoring because now she's a puppet and nothing has ever been her fault and what is even agency and accountability ?

So we got the general "good old academy days" that Engage tried to push, and the recent Heroes alts -to avoid talking about post TS Fodlan, because IS doesn't want to talk about post TS Fodlan.

I mean, if you're not in FE16 with the various "Rhea maybe BaD bcs Nader raids Fodlan every monday to show everyone how large his penis is" and unable to meaningfuly interact with that world, all the "Crust System + IdEaLs" nonsense just sound like Ashnard's battle convo, and while Almedha still seems to be fond of him, she's the only one on Tellius who still has positive feelings about Ashnard as a person.

Tl:Dr : Fodlan's DNA is "Supreme Leader uwu" + "Rhea BaD" + "don't ever question the characters and nod when they say something ridiculous".

If you remove even one of those core principles, FE16 crumbles, so at that point, it wouldn't be a remake that would be released, anon, but an entire AU to the game.
