Have you ever touth a concept for a evil magical girl?

I had a magireco story concept for like a week before my brain got bored. There was an evil meguca in it. 

She felt like Kyubey was in the right, and that people becoming witches to save the universe is a good idea/noble cause. However, this leads her to seeing people as disposable, and in particular, she thinks that turning a girl into a witch is a way of making them “useful,” especially for people who she deems as undesirable or bad. “Your life was meaningless, and now it means something.”

You’ve probably seen eugenics arguments on the internet before. This character would be one of those kind of people. “This group of people is disposable. Wouldn’t it be better if they could help the universe?” Who does she view as disposable? Who does she see as worthless? People who are too different from her? What does she view as a normal person?

Her wish would have been something like, “I want to force people into doing what I want them to do.” (aka becoming a magical girl while she chooses the wish for them). Her actual power would be to corrupt soul gems, turning them into witches. 

So basically you’d be walking home from school, some jerk shows up and decides you’re Just No Good, decides the wish for you and then forcibly turns you into a magical girl, and then she instantly turns you into a witch. And the whole time, she thinks she’s the good guy here. 

Also, think about the impact a character like this would have on a city, or a town. Suddenly girls are disappearing, and these girls are probably kids that other folks overlook-- generic troublemakers, kids from bad homes, marginalized folks who are more likely to be ignored, ect. But still, word starts to get out and people become very anxious. Additionally, all these witches are just fucking up the city too. This villain’s presence will create magical girls inherently, because characters will want to help their towns or they want to know what happened to their friends. Then when the city gets too bad, the evil meguca leaves and chooses a new place to wreck, leaving behind despair and confusion in her wake. 

But she doesn’t see that, and just thinks she’s helping with the greater good. “We’re saving the universe, Kyubey! You and me.”

There was other stuff I was thinking about in the story but I don’t want to bore you guys too much. I think she would have been a fun character to write.

Mitsuki Voice Lines

Mitsuki’s voice lines. She’s the one going around, turning normal people into megucas (and then turning them into witches) because she wants to help Kyubey. Mitsuki, Orihime, and Alta are all in the same story (along with Keiko, but she’s dead before the story starts).

Also, Mitsuki is... well, she has a bit of a victim complex. If some of the things she says sound contradictory, that’s on purpose.

Self Introduction 1: So many pointless people exist in the world. I want to save the universe, but I want to save the Earth too. I will make a humanity I can be proud of... Self Introduction 2: Hello. My name is Mitsuki Kasasagi. Say, are you doing much with your life? Have you ever wanted to contribute to something greater than yourself...?

Story Chapter End 1: I hate her... I HATE HER! I HATE HER! I HATE HER!  Story Chapter End 2: My sister could have finally become a useful person, but she stayed true as trash. What a waste. Story Chapter End 3: I’m going to get rid of all them... All the garbage, and I’m going to save the universe too. *giggle*

Story Select 1: Why was I even born...? Story Select 2: It would be so much better if they all just disappeared...  Story Select 3: I’m a good person. I have worth.  Story Select 4: Why do they refuse to become witches? Story Select 5: I’m better than my family.  Story Select 6: Alta... I’m going to make her suffer. Why does she have to look like my sister?

Magical Release 1: A hobby? Um... I like to play phone games sometimes. I’m not pathetic about it though, like some people are. *giggle* Magical Release 2: You have to be careful when you play games though. Sometimes you’ll be playing, then the next thing you know, it’s been hours! Magical Release 3: Once, I was playing this game but it kept giving me bad luck... So I made a girl wish for it to end. It was really fun to see people cry about it on the internet. *giggle*

Awaken 1: Kyubey... You and I are going to save the universe. That’s why I was made, right?  Awaken 2: I can’t forgive this world sometimes... I think it needs to suffer in order to heal. My work is vital. Awaken 3: I’m not... bad... I’m good... right? I’m here because... because the world is bad. It’s toxic and gross and... is it really worth saving? Sometimes I wonder...

First Login: One day you’ll make for a lovely witch. But right now, I think I want your company... I can’t say that for everyone, so be thankful, okay? *giggle* Login (Morning): Only truly pathetic people can’t wake up in the morning. But we’re not like that, are we?  Login (Noon): I hate having to make my own lunches... I’m going to have the next girl wish for me to never worry about making lunches again... No, that’s a complete waste... *sigh* Login (Evening): Have you seen Kyubey? I want to go make witches... Well, I guess I can hunt for regular magical girls without him. But why does he always leave me like this? I don’t understand.  Login (Night): A good child goes to bed on time. You’re not trying to keep me awake, are you? I don’t like that. You better shape up. Login (Other): I'm right now hunting for targets... This is a full-time duty. I need to make sure I choose the right people to become energy, after all. Login (AP Full): Hm? Oh, I don’t hunt witches myself. I like seeing them destroy things... Sometimes it’s a bother when there are too many of them, but then I just change cities.  Login (BP Full): Why fight copies of magical girls? It’s not like they can become a witch. There’s no point. 

Tap 1: Don’t look at me like that... I’m a good person. I just get mad at everyone around me... It’s not my fault that people make me angry.  Tap 2: Girls who make deals with Kyubey are all really pathetic, aren’t they? They don’t know they’re being used by him, and they make stupid wishes. I’m glad I’m not like that. No, Kyubey and I are working together. Tap 3: I would like to have a friend, but no one has been a good friend to me. No one wants to listen to me, no one wants to help me. Everyone ignores me. Tap 4: Sometimes I get the feeling Kyubey doesn’t really like me... But that’s impossible, right? Right? Tap 5: Those two girls... I really hate them both. They’re completely useless to society. It’s not enough for them to become witches. I must crush them. I’ll make them hurt, I will... Tap 6: It didn’t make sense that someone like my sister could be a magical girl... But you don’t need to be good to be a magical girl. In fact, maybe some people are chosen to ascend because that’s the only way to give their worthless lives meaning. Tap 7: I like to make girls wish for me to have grief seeds. But sometimes they make me really mad, and I make them wish for something mean. I just like to see the look on their face. Like what, they didn’t expect that someone would stand up to them for once?  Tap 8: Why does she have to look like my sister? Why is fate always this mean to me? Everyone always hates me... Well, I hate them too! This whole world can go to hell!  Tap 9: You keep coming around, huh. You want to turn into a witch that bad? I can help you with that, I can.

Notes: For the element types, we have Orihime as Void, Alta as Dark, and now Mitsuki as Light. Mitsuki’s an awful person but she sees herself as righteous, so I feel like that she’d be a light type-- her design (if I ever get around to it) also includes a lot of white. 

I based her stats off of Swimsuit-Homura, although they have different growths. Also, I’m not sure what her Blast MP Gain Up would look like for the connects and magia/doppel-- there isn’t one in the game for that right now, so I don’t know what numbers would be appropriate for balance.

Anyways, she’s a magia type with only one Accele disk. Her gameplay might need some tweaking, but my thoughts for her are that she can give other characters the potential for Blast MP, making it so that Blast characters have more of a chance for getting to magia. She also has some stun capabilities, due to her wish.

It’s taken me awhile to figure out what her gameplay would be like. I think, as a contrast to Alta (whose power is purification), Mitsuki would have the power of corruption.

Expanding more on this

I mentioned that Mitsuki makes the wishes for the girls who she forces to become magical girls (and then into witches). I wanted to expand on the wishes themselves for a sec

Mitsuki... makes really dumb wishes. She wishes for stuff like “I wish Mitsuki has enough food for a week!” or “Hmmm. I want Mitsuki to have a nice day today!” She’s not making wishes for the betterment of humanity or for herself to become more powerful, she’s just kind of wasting them.

Kyubey has talked to her about this but she kind of doesn’t get it. I think she’s kind of wrapped up in her own head about how this is supposed to go and doesn’t want to deviate from it. 

However, sometimes she makes different wishes. Sometimes she thinks her target has wronged her in some way (and that doesn’t need to be factual reality-- Mitsuki will misconstrue things and believes that everyone is out to hurt her). In this case, Mitsuki will make a super hateful, angry wish like “I want your mom to know what a failure you are” or “I want your sister to get in an accident and for you to think it’s all your fault” (Mitsuki tends to target family members for this).

The thing about these wishes is that I don’t want it to come off as torture porn or overshadow that other crap she pulls, so these cruel wishes are kind of limited in what they can be. She’s not going to do something like “I want you to suffer horribly for ten minutes” if you get my drift.

Mitsuki’s Personal Memoria

Name: A Punishment for Hope

Image: A small pencil case, in the color of pink. It’s resting on a wooden table, next to a window in the morning sun. Inside, you can see grief seeds, a huge amount of them-- one is resting on the table, laid on its side. The light of the early morning is pulled into them, and the room feels uncharacteristically dark. There is an ominous feeling of wrongness-- maybe the perspective is off, or maybe you feel like someone is watching you from the shadows. This is an unnatural scene.

Lore: I don’t kill witches, but I make every new magical girl give me some grief seeds as a part of their wish... I’ve never thought about where they came from. Wouldn’t it be funny if they disappeared from a witch right as someone else killed it? The image of someone working hard, on the brink of despair, taking down a witch and hoping for a grief seed... only for there not to be one-- it fills me with a certain kind of joy. That’ll teach you for believing in hope.

Kamihama Prompt: Mitsuki

Why not choose the worst OC on the planet for a prompt list? I’m going to skip some since they’d be spoilers for the pretend event story I want to write one day.

1. What Magia Record character would/could your OC be good friends with?

....I hate to say this, but... Ren. It would not end well (for Ren). Specifically, I mean Ren before she met Rika too. Mitsuki is a self-centered person who deliberately thinks she can do nothing wrong (but also needs lots of reassurance), so she’d lean on Ren HARD.

Other possible victims would be Haruka, Akira (maybe), and Mayu.

You know how some people are just energy vampires? They’re a black hole of needs and attention, and they just take and take and take and take. I feel like that is what it’d be like to be friends with Mitsuki. 

2. What Magia Record character would your OC HATE?

Is “everyone in the cast” too broad? I think she’d especially dislike Kanae (if Kanae was alive at the time). Mitsuki would believe Kanae is a bad person purely based on superficial imagery and thus want to destroy her. 

I think she’d also really dislike Arisa, Jun, Ryo, Ranka, Juri, Seika, Yachiyo, and Kanagi. Basically anyone who seems slightly rebellious or slightly authoritative. 

She’d also really dislike people who she thinks would be hard to turn into a witch, aka folks who are too strong for her in a battle. Mitsuki is actually a really weak fighter and mostly relies on surprise/shock to turn folks into witches, but this doesn’t work well for magical girls with calm heads who can think rationally. Mitsuki stalks her targets for a bit before making the decision to turn them into magical girls/witches, so anyone who notices her watching them (aka Yachiyo and Kanagi) are straight off the list. But that just makes her hate them more.

6. How does your OC feel about Mirrors? Do they avoid it, go there to practice, or want to solve it’s mysteries-- or do they have a different motivation?

Mitsuki would see no point to Mirrors. In general, Mitsuki doesn’t care about witches at all, and is frustrated that magical girls fight them. After all, a witch hunt can result in a dead magical girl and that just means a loss of a potential witch.

7. How does your OC feel about Kyubey? Do they know the truth about where witches come from?

Kyubey is Mitsuki’s ally! Of course, sometimes Kyubey seems to avoid Mitsuki... Why is that? Aren’t they supposed to be partners? That really frustrates Mitsuki. Also Mitsuki wants to turn all megucas into witches so she knows the truth naturally.

9. Kaede is inside a witch’s barrier and needs saving! How does your OC help? ...Or does she not help?

Your OC would be a magical girl villain who wants to help Kyubey?? YES, please share. If it wasn't for Iroha's influence, I figured Touka might have gone down that path given how intrigued she is by him. So it would be really neat to see this idea played out

I’m kind of surprised that there hasn’t been an official story yet with magical girls who support Kyubey? I mean, you can go online and find folks who think he has the right idea in many corners of the internet, and I feel like that would include potential magical girls too.

Then you start to think about what kind of person would support Kyubey. What would she believe in? How does she view her fellow person? Does she view everyone as potential fodder to stave off the heat death of the universe, or does she categorize people into acceptable sacrifices and unacceptable sacrifices?

If she categorizes people then... what are her limitations and labels? What is the threshold that turns a living, thinking, sapient human being into a potential sacrifice, in her opinion? What kind of values does she hold?

I don’t want to say too much, but I’m this is where I’m at with the villain at the moment, and I feel like she’s a pretty scary person. I’m still very much in the daydreaming phase at the moment though. Also, for what it’s worth, the two ocs I’ve shown so far (Alta and Orihime) are not the villains of the story, because I’ve grown to like them and I don’t think I could if they held these kind of views. 

Alta and Orihime have actually become pretty disgustingly wholesome, haha. I’ve also lowered their ages, so they’d be 17ish when the story starts. It’s a little late, but Ikumi Makino also made her contract later in life, so hopefully it still works? Orihime is a magical girl at the start, but Alta is not one.

I’m not sure if I’ll make an actual comic or a series of drabbles or, like, try writing fiction (OH GOD IT’S BEEN SO LONG), but if I do, I want to say that it probably won’t be that great so don’t get your hopes up or anything. It’s just nice to work on something creative. :)

Magical Release 1: It’s taken me some time but I finally know my way around the night sky. I always carry this little book here with me; it’s small but it helps map stuff out. Magical Release 2: Yeah, the first thing I noticed about Orihime was her name... She tolerates it when I tell her about the star Vega... She’s too good for me, really. Magical Release 3: I just like to think that those stars are the same stars everyone’s ever looked at. The poorest man and the richest king. We’re all under the same sky. 

Awaken 1: Man, you steal one girl’s purse and the next thing you know, you’re wearin’ weird clothes and in love with her... Did I say that out loud? Awaken 2: Ugh... Purification doesn’t really suit me, all that honest. I wish I could trade powers with ‘Hime. I feel like she’d work it better. Oh well, I’ll do what she can’t. For now.  Awaken 3: The future... Never thought I’d have one of those. But I keep thinking about it. About who I want to be. About what I want to do. I want to change myself into someone better, I think. Yeah.... Yeah, that’s it.

They’ll just let you down. They always do.  Tap 4: The world doesn't care about you and me, and that’s why I like it.  Tap 5: Hey, you wanna know the cutest way to piss off Orihime? Just call her ‘Hime. She gets so mad, and her little face puffs up... It’s great.  Tap 6: Of course I’m skippin’ school. Who cares? I’m a magical girl, and you know they don’t live for long. I’m not wasting the rest of my life in a damn school... Tap 7: Orihime makes a big deal out of dealin’ with Mitsuki. I figure when it comes down to it, I’ll deal with her. Self Introduction 1: Heyo! I’m sorry, I can’t talk too long-- I’ve got a full schedule, but I’m Keiko Akari! Ahhh-- listen, listen, come follow me as I move on, I can’t lose an inch of time! Self Introduction 2: Well hey there! I’m Keiko Akari. I do ballet and I fight witches and all that. It’s busy work, but I kind of like it, you know?

Story Chapter End 1: Don’t talk to Kyubey, Orihime. Nothing good can come of it. Story Chapter End 2: Mom... Please... I can’t keep going like this.  Story Chapter End 3: I’ll be watching over you. I promise.

Magical Release 1: People always tell me that liking knives is creepy... Do you think that too? I just really like how they look... This took a bit. I think I’m gonna cool it on the Fan OC stuff after this, haha. Time to work on other things! But here it is, all the same. Feel free to copy the format!

Self Introduction 1: I’m not very good at being a magical girl, though I’m trying my best-- I just can’t seem to get my magic to work right. The only thing I can work out is how to hide things, but that’s not really good for attacking... Oh I’m rambling, aren’t I? I’m sorry!  Self Introduction 2: Ah, hello! My name is Orihime Hoshimoto. Sorry, do you have a moment? Have you seen this girl...?

Story Chapter End 1: Is this a dream? How did this happen to me? Story Chapter End 2: I can’t let her keep doing this... Even if I have to become a terrible person to stop her. Story Chapter End 3: I want to live a happy life with Alta. That’s what I’ve decided.

Story Select 1: I’m not letting her get away with this! Story Select 2: My home... I just want to go back... Story Select 3: I can’t rely on Alta forever. I want to stand on my own two feet. Episode Level Up: I have to get stronger... Magia Level Up: I can’t let myself get lost in this feeling. 

Magical Release 1: My parents hate me because of my wish. But they weren’t like this before. We used to be close-- I really loved them. I still do. Magical Release 2: I miss them. My dad and I would talk about all sorts of things, and he always encouraged me with felting... My mom was more quiet, but she’d always back me up when it mattered. I just want to talk to them again. Magical Release 3: Sometimes... Sometimes I resent my mom and dad. Even if it’s because of a wish... Couldn’t they push through and work through it? I know a wish is a miracle, but can’t miracles happen outside of wishes?

Awaken 1: Things feel more bearable now. Awaken 2: I have to think about my future-- I want to assume I’ll have one. I want to live a long, happy life. When this is over... I want to make sure no one else goes through this. Awaken 3: I want to learn how to help people too. I want to think that I can turn this all around into something positive. There has to be a way, right? Maybe Alta and I can travel and figure this out... I want to believe in this.

First Login: Oh! Hello again! Alta and I are going to go out in a minute-- would you like to come with us? I promise Alta won’t be rude this time. Really! Login (Morning): Good morning... Sorry, I didn’t sleep well last night... Give me a minute... Login (Noon): I normally spend my lunch break looking for her. Reading rumors of missing teenage girls and increased accidents in cities... She leaves a trail of a destruction everywhere she goes. Login (Evening): I’m off-- I’ll be back much later. I need to go... I need to go see them. My parents. Maybe a miracle can happen. Maybe not.  Login (Night): You’re awake too? I keep having this nightmare... I’ll try again in a bit, maybe. Login (Other): It’s no good to sit around and wait for things to happen. We have to be participants in our own lives.  Login (AP Full): I’m not good at fighting witches... I-I can try to help, but I might just let you down... Login (BP Full): Maybe fighting copies is good practice for fighting for real? Ugh, but it still feels wrong.

Tap 1: Would you like some tea? I don’t really drink it, but I keep some stocked. I just like to drink water more. It’s refreshing! Tap 2: I really want a pet dog but... What if something happened to me? Being a magical girl is dangerous... I wouldn’t want to leave them all alone. Tap 3: My aunt is very kind to let me live with her. I haven’t told her about the magical girl thing. I don’t know where to even start. You know? Tap 4: Oh, I’m not quite blind, but my vision is really bad. It’s not something glasses can fix, but it’s also not that much of a problem either. Tap 5: Alta really likes astronomy, but she’s too embarrassed to admit she cares about something. I don’t really get why she thinks she needs to hide stuff like that, but it’s nice when she chooses to share things with me. Tap 6: I'm really into felting right now! I like making so many cute little animals... Right now I’m making a turtle. *giggle* Tap 7: My wish was stolen from me... I’ll never get over that. Maybe that makes me weak, but I’ll accept that weakness. That’s okay, isn’t it?  Tap 8: Every once in a while I see something that I think Keiko would like and I want to send it to her... I miss her so much.  Tap 9: Alta and I tried to talk to her, without violence. To see if she could change. She didn’t. Everyone she’s hurt since then, everyone she’s killed-- it’s my fault. Because I didn’t want to bloody my hands. I won’t make that same mistake. Never again.
