"The baker girl".
This is how people like Chloé or Gabriel have been referring to Marinette in a mean and mocking way throughout the seasons, as if this was something she should be ashamed of.
Tumblr media
The fact that her Lucky Charm turned out to be a baker's peel and she used it to beat the crap out of Monarch is so symbolic and powerful.

Just a thought but what would a Cat Walker but it’s Ladybug act or what facet of Marinette’s character will center on that?
I feel like Marinette has a healthy balance of herself as Ladybug and vice versa so I’m wondering just what facet of her character would bring life to create a Cat Walker version of a Ladybug hero.

An idea that i don't see people talk about is Chloe being Adrien's sister figure. She had mommy issue earlier than Adrien, then when Emilie was dead, she felt unconscious responsibility to protect and take care of him. All of her affections are all platonic. That's why she hates when Adrien having new friends, bcs they took him away from her. Like, imagine if Chloe has brother complex.
I swear there's a lot that can be explored from their relationship if the writers aren't cementing themselves in "Make everything about Adrienette" and "Adrien is a damsel in distress".
Sigh, another day another wasted potential the show had.

I loooove that the second time Adrien was Mr Bug, he had a moment of 'I can't do this without Ladybug' and then threw that out the window and was a badass all the way through, with ideas and quiet confidence. Total change from in 'Reflektdoll'. He's come a long way.

You know, we all say Adrien should know he’s a sentimonster. But we never think to ask, How would Adrien react to finding that out.
Oh sure there are fics about him being an angsty boy and basically acting like his life and existence don’t matter. But I don’t think that’s actually the case.
I think Adrien would start off shocked, finding out that they aren’t human in the traditional sense. Denial at the start.
Then it would be anger, his father hid this from him, people in his life lied to him. So yea anger then. Also probably angry about all the times he was “Controlled”
Then I think he would question his life, was his creation worth the price his mom paid? He would be probably believe that it was his fault on why his father was so distant. Maybe talk to Felix about it.
Then he would probably come to terms with things after seeing the video of his mother. Realizing she just wants his happiness.
Then he would probably move on, knowing he was made from love. That his mom loved him so much and wanted him to live in the world. That would be enough. He knows what he is and that doesn’t make him any less of a person.
Though he may hold onto those rings tighter.

Passion really said to the Fandom that Adrien is, at the end, nothing like his father.
Since season 4,people started to comment about how Adrien, by his "obsession" for his loved one, and the tantrums he had, was really starting to look like Gabriel. I get the point, because I felt like the parallels, especially in the ep with senti Nino, were made in purpose.
However, in this episode, we saw Adrien react to the same situation his father is facing, the fear of losing a loved one and the temptation to use the Miraculous to escape this reality. But, where the pain made Gabriel sink, Adrien showed resilience, and I found the message of this episode particularly well taken. It's hard to portray disease in a children's cartoon, especially when it's a disease that slowly destroys a person. At the end of the episode, Adrien does not stop suffering, but he decides to be strong for Nathalie, to take it upon himself, and after admitting his helplessness in the face of the situation (crucial moment for resilience), he says a beautiful, simple and reassuring sentence: I will always be there for you.

Gabriel is obsessed with Marinette because she reminds him of himself and deep down he actually struggles with self-loathing, which he's projecting onto her. He's also seeing Adrien as an extension of Emilie, he molded their son to be the perfection he saw in her and he is afraid that if Adrien gets with Marinette he will end up like Emillie did when she got with Gabi Grassette.

oh my god, I just had a terrible thought.
so I've seen a lot of Marinette and Gabriel parallel takes on here recently. they all make so much sense, so spot on. (ba-bum tsh)
and it got me thinking...
Adrien sacrifices himself without a second thought for Ladybug. no questions asked, no hesitation. always.
Marinette's love for Adrien is so deep, to the moon and back...1000x amount of times. she would do anything to keep him safe, to keep him happy. no matter the cost. (same goes for him ofc)
see where I'm going with this?
what if... Adrien does something stupid during battle? more stupid than normal. and Marinette for some reason can't undo that. what would Marinette do? what lengths would she go to get him back?
what if she becomes the thing her partner hates the most?
(Obviously, this probably won't happen. since Marinette and Adrien are the holders of the needed miraculous, so what would Marinette even be after? and it would be a bit dark for a kids' show.)

This is going to get some people mad at me…
If I were head writer of the show I would make Adrien and Marinette only friends. I once shipped them together, but that magic no longer exists for me. Adrien I could easily ship him with different characters. Marinette,… I don’t know, I’m not sure. I kinda like the dynamic that could happen between she and Chloe. (Derision is not canon for me). That episode where she and Chloe joined forces against Kagami, I would take that as a first step in turning them to frienemies. From there to neutral and finally a couple.
Kagami and Marinette? Could be.
Marinette and Luka. Sorry, no. She shouldn’t had dated Luka while still having feelings for Adrien. Luka deserves so much better than being treated like that.
Mmm… Ok, turns out I wasn’t that unsure after all. Although, to be honest I like the idea of Chloe with Luka. Then again, I would support Lukadrien.
Welcome to the shipping wars inside my head. 🙈🙉🙊😅

My new Ladybug headcannon is that Marinette is super good with yo-yos
Like her class is just showing off the stuff their good at, so Marinette’s like ‘oh let me do this to impress Adrien” and he’s just like ‘Wow Marinette, you’re so good with yo-yos!! How did you get so good :3’ and she’s like ‘Alot of practice ;)’ but no one knows what she means because no one has ever seen her practice.

Ok I need to rant.
The final was amazing, brillant with a lot of emotions.
But
Where was Adrien, where was Chat Noir?
I undertand why he give up his miraculous but, why we didn't see Adrien, Felix and Kagami fighting to get free? We saw the resistance and all the heroes in the world, but can't we see a frame of the three?
And can someone tell me how is that possible that Adrien and Émilie and Nathalie can be happy like that? They don't remember how Gabriel treat them or broke their trust?
I mean if Emilie is here, she must know that Gabriel give up his life for her, and Adrien was a prisonner of his father!
If he knows who he is (there is a hint at the end with the rings) why can't he realise that his father was the bad guy?
And if he doesn't know why his mother(s) his girlfriend, cousin, friend don't tell him the truth?
Season 6 must answer all of this because it doesn'take sense!

"Monarch lives here" "WHAT??"
I cannot imagine everything that must have gone through Plagg's mind at that very moment. To Marinette, he just looked surprised & shocked by this info, but we know there's a lot more than that from the way he reacted.

One trope I would love to see more of and makes the most sense is Ladybug being the one with an atlas complex because considering how much Marinette is willing to sacrifice everything in her life in favor of being Ladybug/Guardian.
Chat Noir being the one who’s willing to sacrifice the world for Ladybug. Think about it, he’s always making sure to be the best partner to Ladybug and he would never want to risk her life in battle, ever.
Basically this:
“I will sacrifice myself to save the world” & “I will sacrifice the world to save you.”

I just realized that Duusu could give Felix a kwagatami, and he can use that to talk to Emilie (as her Peacock holder form), Nathalie (as Mayura), and Gabriel (as Shadowmoth).

I Don't know. (ML Fandom)
Having this reflexive urge to simply walk away. The Finale was disappointing, but I was braced for that. What I wasn't expecting was the number of people who were fine with simply dropping all the the child abuse for Adrien just as easily as they did for Chloe.
Gabriel gets the ending of his choice, Adrien is told by his girlfriend, the protagonist that his father was a hero. He feels inadequate to the image of the man who mere days(?) ago shipped him to another country and locked him in a room with only a foosball table. (Leaving aside all the other abuse)
And too many people who I had respected, who I had thought better of were able to just kind of shrug this off, and start rambling about 'oh is it Emilie or Amilie?'
Child abuse is never okay, and media that glorifies an abuser while gaslighting his victim is not to be lauded, or even tolerated. Fans with any decency should excoriate the finale BECAUSE they love the show, and don't want this vile message in the heart of their beloved franchise.
I found the fandom hunting for children's shows to share with my daughter. I met good people, nice people, when the show's tone was very different. I wrote stories because I saw potential, and because I wanted to make those folks happy.
Many of those people have gone, and the finale has exposed many more as people who I, as a survivor, now have a hard time respecting, much less creating for.
Not sure if I'm going to simply leave. I was prepared for this episode to be bad, I was prepared to give the show a chance to explain itself. I was not prepared to find out how many people don't take child abuse seriously.

has anyone written a fic about shadybug and claw noir returning to their world and having to contend with the fact that they are still, by their definition "broken" even though they want to be better?? and struggling to conceptualize themselves as different and finding comfort in the love-hate shadynoir dynamic????
