for the @allvalley100 prompt Spice!
"So?" Eli's eyes are practically sparkling, but he's not smiling, not yet. He's frowning in anticipation, eyes on his boyfriend. "What do you think?"
"Oh," Demetri manages to swallow a bite of the chicken Eli made--the chicken itself wasn't bad, probably cooked perfectly. Only it was so spicy it went down his throat like a flaming asteroid. It was like Satan's personal punishment for God giving him such a perfect boyfriend. A perfect boyfriend who's very not perfect at cooking, that is.
"It's great," Demetri tries for a smile.
"Really?" Eli doesn't seem wholly convinced.
"Mhm," Demetri nodded. "Absolutely unrelated, but do you have any milk?"

Stripped by K.M. Neuhold
goodreads
Tumblr media
A ripped, transgender construction worker and a tweed-wearing, tortoise-shell-cozy-knitting, bear of a professor… Somebody's getting stripped. The last place I expected to run into my childhood camp crush was at the local university, looking all kinds of cute in a tweed jacket with a nervous blush. I’ve always had a bit of a thing for the nerdy professor type. Demetri says he doesn’t date. I want to believe that it’s true and not that he’s not interested in a transgender man like me. If all he can offer me is friendship, I’m more than happy to take it. Coy looks during sweaty workouts, rainy nights on his couch watching him knit shell cozies for his pet tortoise… I’m falling for him whether I want to or not. Can I break down his walls and prove to him that he can trust me with his heart? And can I trust him with mine?
Mod opinion: I haven't heard of this steamy romance before and I personally probably won't read it, but if you enjoy romance this might be interesting.

Prompt: Cyberpunk
Pairing: Hawkmetri
CW here for some violence and implied body horror (i.e. forceably removing someone’s cybernetic body mods)
Dark!Demetri again, can you tell I like him??? <3
***
When Hawk sees Demetri after the backalley fight, the metal encasing his ex-best-friend’s broken arm agitates him.
Demetri got cybernetic reinforcements, meaning an arm twice as strong when it heals. Hawk shudders, imagining the ire of a Demetri powerful enough to actually hurt him.
5 months later, Hawk’s proven wrong.
He’s pinned, Cobras surrounding him. Screwdrivers and scalpels ready to tear out his mods.
A metal-lined fist shatters the window and grabs Keene’s throat, slamming him against the wall. A chokehold so vicious Hawk begs Demetri to let go.
After that, Hawk knows Demetri won’t use the arm against him.

Demetri and Eli for the @allvalley100 prompt 'cyberpunk'
Eli had been modified 26 times.
First it was just medical - his arm had been crushed and needed replaced. The concealed blade seemed sensible at the time, given the state of the city.
But the gangs loved to fill their ranks with cyborgs.
When Cobra Kai approached Eli his face lit up, excited to be seen and valued.
Since then he demanded more and more modifications.
He made Demetri cut him up over and over.
Better him than some back alley butcher.
Still.
It had to stop some time.
"I think it's time to think about a cerebral mod."
Right?

alright, i'm glad i can talk about season 2 here with you all!
i definitely agree with you, mod dice. the season was pretty good, but it wasn't really what i imagined? i think that's the word. it felt like it was lacking something, and something didn't feel right. also they left us on a cliff-hanger once again--and gave sally and hilda an incredibly short amount of screen-time..
good season nonetheless though, my siblings loved it. we had a good laugh when we saw bowl-boy on screen and king dice make an appearance again! ৻( •̀ ᗜ •́ ৻)
next season, i really wanna see some more characters. rumor possibly, cagney, grim except he talks this time, dr. kahl and his robot perhaps? i have a thing for the automaton smh
but overall, yeah. those we my thoughts! feel free to say any opinions of yours, mod dice <3
sincerely, veda 💌
I agree with most of your thoughts, Veda, and as for my own, well...
For one, I thought the season was just okay as opposed to the first one. Some episodes were great (A High Seas Adventure, Rats All, Folks, and The Devil’s Pitchfork), some were good (Release the Demons and Dead Broke), some were fine (Jailbroken and Charmed and Dangerous), and the rest were, in my opinion, either boring or awful.
As for the characters, I think they improved King Dice, worsened the Cup brothers, and continued to make the Devil the most entertaining character of the cast.
I don’t know how exactly to describe my reasons for disliking Cuphead and Mugman this season, as I’m not good at writing down my thoughts or analysing characters, but I’m going to try. I think my main (and only) complaint about their portrayal is that Cuphead’s occasional selfishness and his generally reckless behaviour were amplified far more than I believe they should have been, while Mugman came off as uncharacteristically temperamental and unhinged.
As for King Dice, I really like what they did with him. He was cunning and manipulative for once, and it was nice to see him behave like you’d expect his game counterpart to. I like this new side of him they’ve shown, and I hope they expand upon it in the next season.
As for the Devil, what can I say? He stole the show every time he was on screen, and while the show’s portrayal of him may not be the most faithful to the source material, he’s just so entertaining and well-written that you can’t help but love him regardless of the differences.
I think those are all my main thoughts, so I’m just going to quickly list off the rest of my opinions on other things as I don’t have much to say about them:
- Seeing Hilda and Sally, although briefly, was a real treat, and I hope we get to see more of them next season. - The choice to make Captain Brineybeard a simp was not something I personally would have gone for, and yet it was done so well and ended up being so funny that I honestly wouldn’t change it. - I wasn’t a fan of Cala’s accent. Don’t get me wrong, I liked her voice, and I think her voice actress, Natasia Demetriou, is extremely talented, but I just don’t think it fit Cala as a character. I think it would have been much better if it were Greek instead of Russian, as it would’ve served as a nod to her Greek myth-inspired origins. - Also, learning about her mixed-species heritage was fun, and I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about it. - I really liked what they did with Bon Bon and Werner, although I’m still iffy about Bon Bon’s voice and the fact that they made Werner an American who was just faking his German accent. - “Oh, please, we’re friends now. Call me “The”.” is a way funnier line than it has any right to be.

Museum Visit
Liem and Gwen wanted Bren to relax more, so they insisted he take a break from his work. Bren was allowed to pick the place, however, and of course he chose a museum. Despite Gwen wanting to kill herself, Liem had a good time, especially when they found the First Order exhibit and Liem could look at all the models of ships. He stopped at a “life sized” statue of Kylo Ren, and nearly got thrown out of the museum when he climbed into the exhibit, and inisted Ren was the wrong height. Before long they had called Ren to check it out, and he offered to model for a replacement. But not before seeing the plaque in front of his statue, a plaque that once more reminded him of his biggest regret.
He had left quickly, and even through the mask Liem could guess Ren had paled. Ren was led away to a private room while they waited for an artist to arrive. Liem looked back at the plaque, frowned, and ran after Ren.
“Liem, where are you--” Bren tried to stop him but Liem hurried past anyway
“Don't follow me I’ll be back in a second!” Liem called back over his shoulder. He found Ren leaning against the wall in the small room, helmet off now and staring at it, expression unreadable. Liem ran there but he stopped and leaned against the wall, moving slowly now, and shuffled quietly until he was beside Ren. “So…”
“Shut up,” Ren said, voice barely above a whisper. “For once in your life just shut up.”
“Ok,” Liem said calmly. He had done this before, with Ren. And Ren had returned the favor as well, and it was something they shared that they understood that few others did. So Liem just stood there, and he didn’t say anything, but he was there, and Ren let him stay. Nothing could help, when Ren felt like this, but it mattered that Liem was there. It mattered to both of them.
The artist came eventually and Ren stood on a platform and put on his helmet again. Liem watched the artist work.
“I knew I was right,” Liem said. “I was way past your shoulder, I knew that couldn’t be right.”
Ren snorted, though it came through as just static in the helmet.
“Made you feel too tall?”
“I got dizzy!” Liem agreed, grinning again. “I’ve never been up so high without a pressure helmet.”
Ren laughed at that, and it alarmed the museum worker and the artist. The artist worked a bit faster.
“Why’d it bother you so much anyway? Besides the usually reason.”
“I dont know. I like things to be right.”
“You dont like being lied to.”
“Does anyone?” Liem shrugged. Ren didn’t answer for a minute.
“The ships look good?” Ren finally asked
“Oh yeah, they were great! To scale and actual scale models, and--” Once Liem got going he didn’t stop, but Ren didn’t mind listening this time. It didn’t matter what was said, just being there mattered.

Prompt: Cyberpunk
Pairing: Hawkmetri
A sequel to this! For context, Demetri got his arm cybernetically enhanced after Eli broke it, and now he’s subject to a government-mandated petroleum prescription :O Luckily Eli, who’s been modded 6 ways to Sunday, is helping him adjust to the cyborg life <3
***
“Come on. Finish your motor oil.”
Demetri takes a reluctant sip.
Eli watches with glossy, worried eyes, their artificial sheen never fully fading. “Your taste sensors adjusted, right?”
“They’re fine. This is all just...new to me.”
Demetri flexes metallic fingers, all wired up to human bone.
“I don’t feel like a person when I chug petroleum.”
Eli shrugs. “Feeling like a ‘person’ can be whatever you want. And most people in LA need oil supplements, anyways.”
“So you never worry you’re just…cogs?”
A steel hand wraps around Demetri’s, firm and reassuring.
“I know I am. But cogs are pretty kickass.”

What are your thoughts on the secretaries do they spend all day making phishing emails and ordering things on amazon or are they just answering calls from random lost italians?
I just know for a fact the secretaries are getting below minimum wage, that is of course if they last 6 months. No form of payment could be better than the “promise” to become an immortal. Heidi, being the coven’s manager in the PR department, is in charge of recruiting and finding candidates to work their historic tourist trap.
But specifically regarding what they do for most of the time…cleaning. Basic things like dusting off cobwebs, mopping. They do answer phone calls and such, but nothing more than just taking messages. Heidi is the one who helps lost tourists. They’re restricted from going past certain corridors or into different rooms, and the ones that disobey out of curiosity will certainly be fired…
I do also think that keeping secretaries around helps the coven keep up with the latest trends without having to go outside as much. As an example, when the 1980s came around, Demetri somebody learned about shoulder pads through casual talk with the employees.
As a “company” the Volturi are pretty inclusive with who works for them, they’ve had secretaries of all genders and orientations. As long as you have blood and a beating heart, you’re hired! And little to no outside social connections is also considered a bonus quality in a candidate.
