Confederate States of America (APH OC)

This was brought to my attention by the same person who brought the Milky Way OC to my attention, so a shout out to them.

NGL, I’m not excited about this one. 

Possible trigger warning for racism? I dunno, but this is an OC of the literal Confederacy, so I wouldn’t be surprised. That being said, racism pisses me off, as it should anyone, so I may get a little heated. 

"Don't think you're so much better than me, North. Someday you'll acknowledge me, too!"

...There’s a lot to unpack there, but we’re just... gonna throw away the whole suitcase.

Confederacy (コンフェッデラシー, Konfedderashī) is a fan-made character for the anime and manga series: Hetalia representing the Confederate States of America. His human name is Alexander S. Jones, usually shortened to "Alex."

Okay, I guess that’s fine. I don’t really have any qualms with the name, but the actual existence of this OC is another story. Bear with me, it’s history rant time. Also, a minor history lesson, for my foreign readers who don’t know much about American history, brought to you by a girl who went through the U.S. school system.

First of all, I don’t think the American Civil War was ever touched on in Canon Hetalia, but I found a discussion on Reddit about this topic that said that a new country would probably be created upon the rebellion, since the Confederacy was supposed to be an entirely new country. However, when the Union was victorious over the Confederacy, the states making up the Confederacy were reabsorbed by the North. So, by that logic, whoever represented the Confederacy would have probably died since they had nothing left to represent. 

Now, the topic of Prussia could be brought up here, but he’s slightly different. First of all, Prussia was an actual nation with a history. Prussia was officially called The Kingdom of Prussia, and was one of the main precursors leading to the establishment of the actual nation of Germany. Its culture, history, and land still exist, though the land is now a part of Germany. It makes sense that Prussia still exists, since he appears to represent this important period in German history, but also because Germany still recognizes him as a country, and he lives with him. 

There’s also the topic of The Iron Curtain, and how it’s widely accepted that Prussia represented the East, since he often calls Germany ‘West.’ That’s another reason why he still exists. In addition to representing the history of his former nation, he also holds some representation of East Germany.

The Confederacy, however, was never recognized. It was a group of states who wanted to keep slaves around, partially because their economies were largely dependent on the commerce and goods that slave labor brought. They also thought white people were superior and didn’t want to share their rights with the freed slaves because they felt threatened by that. It was really mostly that, they were just really fucking racist. When the Confederacy was dissolved, that was it. Gone. It didn’t exist anymore. There’s no reason for a representation of the Confederacy to still exist, as it does not represent a period in history or still existing piece of land in the same way Prussia does. The Confederacy doesn’t even have a history to represent that isn’t a dark period of hatred and racism. 

Anyway, my point is made, back to the review.

He is the younger brother to the United States and is referred to as "South" by other nations (as he is an unrecognized nation).

As I said, he’s also just not a nation. He wasn’t even recognized when the Confederacy rebelled back during the Civil War. The states that rebelled were referred to as ‘Rebels’ for a reason. I learned this in history class. 

Germany recognizes Prussia as a nation. I doubt America recognizes the Confederacy as one. He sure as hell didn’t during the Civil War.

He considers his birthday February 8th, the date the Provisional Constitution of the Confederate States of America was proclaimed, though he had lived with America before then.

Why? There’s no reason for him to have even existed before the Civil War. There just isn’t. The Confederacy didn’t exist before 1860-1861(ish).

I say ‘ish’ because the 11 states that made up the Confederacy all seceded at different points in time, but the first state to secede, South Carolina, did so on December 20th of 1860, following the election of President Abraham Lincoln. The rest of the states seceded over the course of the next six months, all in 1861. They were never recognized as a sovereign nation.

No. As I said, the southern states that rebelled rejoined the northern United States after the defeat of the Confederacy. There is no reason for this at all. 

Also, why in the fuck has he existed since 1787? That was when the constitution was ratified, but at that time, there were no southern states in existence, just the original thirteen colonies. Well. Sort of. There were really only three official states at this time, and those were Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, all founded in December of 1787.

The first southern states to be declared actual states were states like Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, all of which were founded in 1788. Regardless, why would these states need a separate representation when Alfred F. Jones already existed as the representation of America? It just seems rather redundant.

That would be wrong, though. 1787 was 235 years ago, and even then, that would make him weirdly younger than America, if he has existed for as long as he has for whatever reason. I don’t understand, Alfred originally was the representation for the thirteen British colonies, hence why he’s often considered England’s younger brother. Why would Alexander even need to exist??

I just realized America is only two inches taller than me. That’s kinda wild. But, I’m also just a tall young woman. I’m taller than a lot of people.

There’s a contradiction there. By this information, he used the federal government used by the United States while also using the Confederate’s government simultaneously. So that’s interesting.

Catholic, Evangelical, Methodist, Baptist. In the modern day he has developed significant non-Christian populations.

So he has several religions?? Those are all Christian denominations, so it would probably just be easier to say Christian with varying beliefs. I could call myself that as well, minus the Evangelical bit, because I believe in human rights, but we’re not here to talk about my religious beliefs. We’re here to tear apart this questionable OC.

Oh, let’s hope some research has been done. It’s clear a base level of research has been done, because there are some dates that do match up with history, but a lot of this is full of interesting holes. Let’s see if that continues.

Appearance

A young man with blonde hair and gray-blue eyes; he had a love of fancy uniforms in his younger days, but now dresses in the same "modern" style as the rest of the country. He had longer hair in his youth, but since his decimation by the North has now cut it. His current image still seems a little privileged, but he has a reputation as a redneck and hard worker as well.

Okay, so, the grey-blue eyes bit is interesting, because of the colors of the Union and Confederacy uniforms, grey and blue respectively, so that’s a nice bit of representation, I suppose. Apart from that, why did he have longer hair? I can’t find any supporting information regarding hairstyles in the Confederacy, but men usually wore their hair short back then, if I remember correctly. I suppose the most I have to say about that is a little bit of nitpicking.

I don’t care much about the hard working bit, that’s fine. That’s just a character trait that could be said about many characters in Hetalia. The redneck bit is what I wanna talk about. I am not from the South, I am from the Midwest, but let me tell you, since I’m from farm country (Iowa), we have rednecks up here as well. My point is, something that rednecks from here and the South have in common is one thing in particular: racism. ‘Redneck’ is a word often used interchangeably with racial intolerance. I know not all people who do farm work are racist, but I can’t really think of anyone who could be described as a redneck that isn’t conservative as all hell.

So that’s just a really fancy way of saying your OC is a racist asshole. Good to know.

Basic Bio

He was a conflicted young nation whose peoples seemed unable to get along. In his early years, he housed large plantation owners as well as "small" slave owners, independent farmers, slaves, free blacks and Northern immigrants.

Northern as in Canadian? Because if someone moves from one state to another while still remaining in the same country, that doesn’t make them an immigrant.

Since he housed so many peoples, he often disagreed with the minority, whites-only government - and with himself - suffering breakdowns from internal divisions and his constituent states' desire for independent government. Despite his polite debutante manner, he has a prideful (and sometimes rebellious) streak and can't stand the idea of North (USA) dictating what he does.

Okay. But that isn’t what the Confederacy stood for. The Confederacy was a white supremacist group, primarily. They believed white people were superior to black people. That was their literal ideology. It was centrally based "upon the great truth that the black man is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition." 

According to a historian, “The statesmen who led the secession movement were unashamed to explicitly cite the defense of slavery as their prime motive. Acknowledging the centrality of slavery to the Confederacy is essential for understanding the Confederate.”

That was the ideology of the Confederacy. It wasn’t just the South wanting to have independence because they were rebellious and didn’t want to be controlled. They wanted independence because they didn’t want their slaves taken away, and Lincoln was going to do that. Their motivations were self-serving and racist. Hell, the Confederate Constitution was full of racist rhetoric. 

But ‘oh, no, he didn’t agree with everything his people, the ones he’s supposed to represent, believe. Only the good parts.’ Sorry, but you can’t have your cake and eat it, too. That period of history was horrific, and you can’t just gloss over the atrocities committed by the Confederacy towards Black people by saying “he didn’t agree with everything and suffered breakdowns over conflicting thoughts.”

Also, it was not a minority of people who believed that. There was a rise in Southern nationalism in the lead up to the war, and they unanimously supported a pro slavery presidential candidate. This character description is trying to put a time in history that should not be viewed with sympathy into a sympathetic light. It is downplaying the actual horrible beliefs the Confederacy had, and that frankly disgusts me.

Alex isn't intentionally cruel, unlike some of his people, and feels the pain of the slaves and a select few abolitionists. In many cases, he genuinely tries to relieve their suffering. However, he did have the same paternalistic attitude towards blacks as the wealthy white population - the same idea that they must work hard to be "saved." After the war, he learned - though slower than North would‘ve liked.

My jaw literally dropped. Nobody should have to work to be saved. That should go without saying. How in the fuck is that a ‘paternalistic attitude?’ I literally have nothing to say to that other than ‘what the fuck?’

For his pride, he usually holds on to the views of his more historically-minded peoples or tries to stay neutral, though he is often unable to suppress the pains of the large minorities. He is soft-spoken in general,

though every bit as opinionated as his brother - he is annoyed by Yankees in general and refuses to truly pay attention to what they say. Though he was a spoiled southern gentleman before the Civil War, he toughened up during Reconstruction after losing the war. Now, he can't get enough of fried foods and has something of a redneck reputation.

I mean, the south is famous for comfort food, so I guess that makes sense. But again, the redneck bit is just saying he has a reputation of being a racist.

He is still bitter about the Civil War and North's claims to “superior morality”,

Excuse me? The idea that people shouldn’t be enslaved is very much superior to the idea that they should be. I hate this guy.

and has developed something of a preservationist complex that North is quick to dismiss and is attempting to destroy. 

If this is about the removal of monuments of Confederate leaders such as Robert E. Lee, then yeah, those should be taken down. They glorify these men who stood for such racist things, and while they’re a part of history for sure, we don’t see monuments of Adolf Hitler standing, do we? He was a part of history. But we don’t glorify him. After the Nazi party was defeated, every trace of them was destroyed. Flags were torn down, as were statues and monuments, because A) that government no longer existed, and B) they stood for such hateful things. Nobody wanted them standing anymore. 

The statues in the South that were removed were long overdue for removal, if you ask me.

Even now he feels some sectionalist loyalties and is more religious and conservative than the rest of the US.

Okay. So he is racist. I bet he doesn’t like trans people either. Damn those gays. Think of the children.

Because Alfred refused to acknowledge Alex as a separate country, America (and most other countries) has always called him "South." Alex refers to him as "North."

If I were Alfred, I’d call him ‘that guy who I thought died in that war.’

Because he should have.

Family Relationships and History

America

Alex’s older brother, with whom ha has a long and complicated relationship. Though the two have tried for a long time to reconcile their views, expansion into the West (amongst other things) brought the tensions between the two to the boiling point. 

That is not what triggered the Civil War. Lincoln’s election was the tipping point.

Even after secession, Alex occasionally wished to return to the Union - even modeling his first flag after that of the USA somewhat.

There are still regional tensions between the two, but Alex has accepted their existence as a Union.

I mean, I suppose, if you’re talking about the first Confederate flag. We should probably mention that the second flag of the Confederacy has turned into a symbol of racism, because that was what it was when the Confederacy existed. I don’t think the southern states were remorseful. 

England and France

Alex sought diplomatic recognition from these two leading powers by leveraging his cotton supply, but did not receive any. England switched to cotton supplies in Egypt and India and suffered a recession, but was glad to escape the political entanglements of recognizing the Confederacy. France had considerably more problems in refusing, but withstood them well enough.

France had no problems refusing. At all. The British had so much cotton from India and Egypt that they were exporting it to the French. The French straight up didn’t need the cotton from the Confederacy.

Let’s also note that the Confederacy failed miserably with any sort of diplomacy with France or England, as it tried to send diplomats to London and Paris and was then intercepted by the US Navy and forcibly sent back to Boston.

I must also note that some British and French politicians and monarchs expressed interest in recognizing the Confederacy, in order to at least mediate the war, but decided not to. They weren’t completely disconnected. 

Although England had already abolished slavery and maintained neutrality, he wished the Confederacy luck in reconciling with America and advised him to go home, remembering the days of his own struggle with America.

The hell he did. The British were firmly anti-slavery, and even deployed the Royal Navy to patrol the oceans in order to stop slaving ships. England was not neutral in all of this, and supported the North. The British also started an anti-slavery convention in 1840, and abolitionists did speeches across the UK regarding the realities of American slavery. It was largely regarded as shameful and horrific. I’d imagine England would’ve sent him home in disgust rather than goodwill after learning what he was doing, at least going off of what historically actually happened regarding the spectacular failure of the Confederacy’s diplomatic attempts.

Trivia

He was in a coma during the military rule in the Reconstruction years, when the South had virtually no political power.

It would make more sense if he’d just died. I mean, Rome supposedly died after the fall of the Roman Empire in canon Hetalia. 

His human name, is based on the way he fought for his people, it means Protector of Men.

You mean the way he fought for a racist ideology?

He is annoyed by Northerners - and the many Southerners - who don't recognize the "real" Confederate flag (see the link below).

Okay. There was the first Confederate flag, which looked like this:

I believe this is the one being referred to as the ‘real’ Confederate flag.

The one that looks like a blue x on a red background is the second iteration of the flag. It is just as much the Confederate flag as this one is, it’s just more well known. It is also more tightly associated with racist symbolism.

He loves jazz, blues, hard rock, country rock, bluegrass, and old country music (none of this newer country).

Hysterical to me that despite how racist he is, his favorite types of music are mostly music genres pioneered by black people. Then again, a lot of this originated from songs sung by slaves, so in a weird way that makes sense.

During the War for Southern Independence (as he knows it), he wore a simple officer’s uniform without rank on it but was quite the renowned sharpshooter.

Okay. It was not a war of independence. Let’s call a spade a spade. It was a war to keep slaves. That was literally what the leaders of the Confederacy said it was. That was the motivation. God, the point was missed by so much distance that you may as well have landed on the moon. I don’t think this person ever payed attention in history class, because the only way someone could be this goddamn ignorant is if that was the case. 

Or they’re just trying to excuse their racist beliefs. That could also be possible.

Yikes. Just. Yikes.

This OC does not need to exist. Genuinely, it doesn’t. The complete misunderstanding of history was shocking and enraging, and just... bad. Bad is a good word. The casual, blasé racism, the fact that Alfred already represents the land he’s supposed to stand for. He’s a redundancy that doesn’t need to be here. I didn’t know such an insensitive character could exist, but here we are.

There is a lot of lying taking place in their responses, but you as a reader with no firsthand knowledge have to be the judge of who is telling the truth. 

If you’ve read the screenshots and statements already on our blog you should be able to understand these commentators  to the thread are lying. Among the commentators are Connor Dillon, VP of the HEMA Alliance whio posts on reddit as Kaer Dadet, and Tea Kew, who is an instructor at Cambridge HEMA, and who is involved in both FAR and has close ties to the HEMA Alliance. 

You can read their comments on the thread linked to above, but here are some specific conversations we think others should read.

So what is learned from this? Well Connor, as well as other officers of HEMAA and their supporters, refuse to allow any discussion in the community to occur if they can control it. And if they cannot control it instead they lie about how influential they actually are in order to downplay how damaging their behavior actually is.

Connor has made other similar postings in the HEMA Council FB group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/1595290124124621/ ) posts about this controversy, which is the only HEMA group that has allowed open public discussion about this topic,

The thing is Connor is commenting so him claiming he cannot comment is misleading. He just does not have very good explanations and so is trying to dismiss things with misrepresentations of fact. The reality is that HEMAA is more powerful than he claims it is, that its members and officers frequently engage in mob harassment of individuals based on hearsay with no actual investigations ever conducted. The HEMAA also runs mock elections for officers, with them essentially being appointments. Right now Kat Fanning is again running unopposed, since per the rules the only people who can run against her would be her own officers.  It is not a real election and they have even recently changed rules so they will have terms of two years, reducing their need to orchestrate these fraud elections every year. 

HEMAA members have no real input into the organization and what its officers do, and its members who pay them dues and give them so much power and influence likely would not stand by them if they knew how they endorsed illegal violent behavior and political support of groups like antifa, as well as the organized harassment they engage in. And they know that.

A lot of irony here in people who use organized censorship, harassment and shunning to remove all criticism and control HEMA call other people cowards just because their usual tactics do not work in this instance, and they are very frustrated and upset about it.

We mentioned Tea Kew also posted. You can read those posts below. 

Emphasis on the last screenshot above. Tea Kew is well known to be an outspoken person who gets very upset if anyone ever quotes him without permission from himself. It is unlikely he did not know about his material being reposted to the antifa HEMA blog especially as it is posted to the same groups he is a member of. And as we point out he will not condemn antifa and the activities of people in the FAR group, which shows he does support these things.

Hello and welcome to another Fanfic Friday! Today I’m reviewing some delicious Human AU platonic Moxiety in the form of Lend an Ear by @i-will-physically-fight-you

Pairing: Platonic Moxiety

Warnings: Anxiety attack, past mentions of an abusive relationship. 

Summary: Virgil isn’t like Roman or Logan. He isn’t a talented actor or gifted brainiac, just an idiot who can’t understand algebra. It’s only a matter of time before Patton realises that too, and sends him away.

I do so love found family and this story touches on an aspect not often covered in them - what happens after you ‘find’ your real family. 

Virgil is already a settled member of the group by this point. He’s comfortable enough around Logan and Roman to not hate them, and while he doesn’t often call Patton ‘dad’, he still accepts him as the father figure in his life. 

Indeed, its that very desire to remain a part of this family he has already built up around him which drives the emotional heart of this story. It might feel like a small if somewhat understandable frustrating thing, to be struggling with Maths homework but to a teenage Virgil who has lived through and survived so much more than anyone ever should have to suffer, it becomes a symbol of something that much bigger. His inability to solve the problems shifts in his mind to his inability to be a useful, special member of the family. And if he isn’t useful, if he isn’t special like he considers Patton’s other ‘sons’ then it won’t be long before he is rejected once more. 

I love the use here of his fears, of how his mind flicks between the past and the present, how he is constantly comparing Patton to the ‘him’ of before, waiting for the other shoe to drop. It doesn’t matter that Patton has been unfailing kind to him, he cannot unlearn all those years of misery. It is especially telling, I feel, that for all that he suspects and even tells himself that he is having cognitive distortions or that he is being unfair to Patton, he can’t just shake off those feelings. You don’t magically become better just by saying it to yourself, it is a battle everyday and Virgil just needs a little extra help this day. 

I think Kat made an excellent choice in keeping the previous father a shadowy, unexplored figure. He is the abuser here, the monster. He doesn’t deserve the limelight and there is somehow, more horror in the sparse details that are scattered throughout the story than if it was discussed in great detail. Like a good horror movie monster, the real terror is in the unknown, the moments between and what our own imagination will tell us happened. 

We don’t even see Roman and Logan in this story and yet I have no doubt that this Virgil loves them both deeply in his own way. He certainly feels inferior to both of them and he looks up to them - they are so very different and yet everything he longs to be.

Luckily he has Patton to show him that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being Virgil. That he is special and wonderful in his own right. 

As for Patton. He is such a good dad in this. He understands Virgil’s struggles, his problems and he is just there for him. Sometimes, that is all you need, the support to keep going. 

It makes me wonder about his own history in this world and just what he might have been through.

Professor Lemon has an in-character review of the eight Gym Leaders, which will be available for players to read if they’d like an early heads-up

There is also a form that has been put together for people to submit IC for their muses, to initiate interaction. Of course, you can send asks regardless and negotiate other situations, but it’s a way to formally start off if you’re wanting to do the traditional “Pokémon Journey”

IN-PROGRESS:

the map needs edited to adjust the northern mountain range

a doc describing all the routes and cities, as a reference overview for players, is partially done but not finished

shop menus for the varied stores has bare bones detail but will need fleshed out

spriting needs done for the rest of the gym leaders trainer cards and the docs (I’ve done Carmen, Edan, and Iris so far.)

I feel like...it's sort of a circular problem. And I might be projecting a bit from experience, but like, I think it's applicable. Where it seems like, because Kaoruko always expresses like Futaba should be doing everything for her, Futaba fails at communicating that she's doing something for herself, because she feels like Kaoruko will disapprove. But because she hides it, when Kaoruko inevitably finds she is doing the thing, Kaoruko gets upset even the more because Futaba is hiding things, hiding things again.

The future is shattered...

The Wizarding World is on the brink of collapse, war is on the horizon, and both sides are preparing for the end. For years students at Hogwarts had been hearing whispers in the hallways about war, hushed conversations in between classes about allegiances being made and battle plans being drawn up, but for so long it had just been talk. All of that talk has turned into reality, idle threats made in the hallways of Hogwarts have turned into battle plans and missions being drawn up. The world is on the brink of collapse as both sides wait for someone to make the first move. 

 Now with war on the horizon, some have gone into hiding while other’s are choosing sides - deciding whether they want to fight for equality or purity. The Order has been meeting behind closed doors for months, drawing up battle plans, and recruiting as many people as they possibly can. The Death Eaters have been preparing for years, the Dark Lord becoming more active in gathering his forces, recruiting the mightiest and wealthiest of the pureblood families. The future is shattered, lines are being drawn, and it’s time to choose - will you run or will you fight?

ShatteredHQ is a modern marauders AU that takes place as the first wizarding war breaks out. All information about the group can be found below the cut!  

Rules & Guidelines...

01. This group is based on Harry Potter, but it takes place in modern times and because of this no members of the marauder’s or their era have been killed yet. This means that we are only loosely following the canon that J.K. Rowling has created, so feel free to apply for any character that you want, canon or original. 

02. Feel free to apply for as many characters as you want, but please keep in mind how much you can handle. However, there are a few things that you need to keep in mind when applying for your character(s): 1) please make sure that all of your characters are over the age of eighteen since this roleplay does not take place in Hogwarts and 2) let your imagination run wild and bring us any characters that you want, whether they are canons you’ve always wanted to play or original characters you want to play. 

03. No god-modding, this is a bit self-explanatory but do not control anyone else’s character since it can kill muse and make roleplaying not fun. Please be respectful to your other players and run all plot ideas by the person you’re plotting with and any major plots must be run by the admins (i.e. death, marriage, pregnancies, use of unforgivable curses). 

04. If you want to plot with applicants before we open, feel free to and you can include those connections in your audition. I plan on trying to accept everyone who applies, so feel free to talk to others who are applying. 

05. An application reviewal date will be set once we receive 8-12 applications and will be posted on my blog for anyone who has applied. At that time the main will be released and all acceptance will be posted on there. The current application count can be found here!

Narcissa Black is a 20 year old pureblood, a former Slytherin, and is currently a member of neutral alignment. She identifies as a cis-female, uses she/her pronouns and looks a lot like Kat Mcnamara. She is played by Taylor.

SUMMARY: Hope everyone had a good Christmas, or at least, a good Wednesday! The last round of Elemental Kirins - featuring the Teknika, Nova, Aeterna, and Ragnarok - is finished! You can catch these four and the previous 10 Elemental Kirins in Okarthel now - http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Okarthel/205/47/16 The Teknika was originally released without a Bento tail, opting instead for a Bezier curve tail to avoid warping. A Bento tail has been added - grab the redelivery if you need an update. There have been a few bugfixes for the Elemental Kirins as of the other day - a few fixes for the new 4 and a permissions fix in the Glacia (and Ender, if you haven't gotten that fix already). Drop by Okarthel and hit the Purple redelivery terminal to get new copies. The Teknika, Nova, and Ragnarok include VERY BASIC mesh bodies in order to make use of materials, especially emissive maps. No, we don't intend to start making mesh bodies in the future - the designs for these kind of required them. I'll be working with Kat soon to get some appliers out for folks who'd prefer to use their existing body. These kirins follow the same rigging format as the previous kirins - unrigged hands, legs, neck, etc. This is mostly to keep them uniform design-wise with the previous kirins, which came out before we adopted bento hands & rigged necks / legs, etc. Kat's taking the next two days off to rest and recharge.

Today I'll address a lot of reported issues: Alloy vendor has been fixed, if yours failed to send please message me.

Ragnarok Female body will be fixed, Teknika bento tail will be added.

The ragnarok and nova necks 'cut off' at the bottom. These necks aren't rigged, so not much I can really do about that. Adding rigged parts to everything will add a significant amount of work to my plate, and raise the prices.

Kirins predate my wider adoption of Bento hence why it lacks Bento hands/fitmesh legs. The final 4 Kirins were released this way to remain in line with previous releases. Future content of this nature (for other avatars) will use current/updated design philosophies.

These LE kirins have always been about designing unique parts, specifically for modding, hence their static nature.

I digress, Blau's been cataloguing issues in Support for me so I will be sure to review that and address them in an update either tonight or tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.

KatLast Monday at 8:35 PM @everyone I've been picking away at the fixes for the recent release of Kirin Elementals, specifically addressing the glitched scales for the Ragnarok and the lack of a bento tail for the Teknika (intentional but there was enough of an outcry that It seemed unreasonable not to comply).

I've also heard the cries for a stripdown for the latest wave. I will only be including a stripdown function for the Teknika, as its the only one of the LEs to include a large number of scripts. Ones like the Nova and Ragnarok only have scripts in the Static tail, head, ears, hands, and jaw objects(not the mask) I hope that is amenable to you all.

I'm also going to take the time to address permission issues for a few of the older Elementals. If you have noticed a permission conflict with any of the attachments for the previous waves, please post about them in #kinzart-support.

Lastly, I'll be addressing the lack of a proper unpacker, missing adult overlays(only for System body), and the other small stuff I typically packed. It was so late when I was packing things, and I was so tired from burnout that I'd missed a bunch of stuff.

Everything should be ready to go later tonight or tomorrow, depending on how early I log off tonight. Thank you all for your help in squashing these annoying bugs, and for bringing issues to my attention.

And, I have heard a few complaints about texture resolution issues for the Nova scales, and concerns about the bottoms of the necks having 'edges' where the scale prims cut off. As I've said before, these Kirins are static, and predate my wider adoption of bento/fitmesh parts. I wanted their design philosophies to be unified, so that each retains the same versatility as the previous waves.

In the future, when I make stuff like this for newer releases, Those will use newer features. On the Nova's texture resolution concerns: Be aware that those layers use the SLUV. It has awful texel density, and there's fuck all I can do about that. I wanted textures that could be used on both the SL body and my own custom scale layers so.. they're sadly a fact of life. Blame SL's garbage sampling and compression.

KatLast Tuesday at 4:36 PM @everyone The Nova, Ragnarok, Teknika, and Aeterna Kirins have been updated to include a proper unpacker, missing miscellaneous odds and ends. In addition, the bugged Female Ragnarok basic body scale weighting on the right shoulder has been resolved. The Teknika now includes a Bento tail(as the default unpack), along with HUD controls. The Teknika also included an AUC specifically for stripping down the non essential scripts once you've finished editing your avatar. Remember to keep backups of your boxes, or a scripted modded version in case you want to go back and make changes, or need replacement parts.

The Glacia left thighfur permissions have also been fixed, and a reminder that at some point in the past, I fixed the bugged tailspade for the Ender.

If you guys run into any more issues, pertaining to the performance, permissions or glaring visual issues like rigging or incorrect textures, please let me know.

As mentioned before, I'm going to work with Blau to get some appliers made and available for you all, as the BASIC mesh bodies included with the Teknika, Nova and Ragnarok were not intended to be anything beyond showcasing the materials and textures made for the body. Remember that our skins will fit any body that supports the SLUV.

KatLast Tuesday at 4:55 PM @everyone Mk not.. entirely sure what's the hangup--the redelivery terminals are being infuriatingly slow. I don't know the cause, or how to improve it at all. I've already messages Flame to see  if we can look into the issue. In the meantime, just.. avoid using the terminals, I guess. If you need something redelivered, message myself, Blau or Straylight. We can issue resends from the server. :slight_smile:

KatToday at 1:41 PM @everyone I hope everyone had a wonderful christmas morning, for those that observe it, and a great Wednesday for those who don't.

I myself took a nice 10 hour sleep last night because that's the most sleep I've had in weeks. I'll be taking today and the next 2 days off, to recharge my social and artistic batteries and address the ever growing issue of mess in my house. My fiance's mother keeps sending her home with shit and we've yet to sort the first 3 loads she's sent us with because of how busy we've been XD'

Milky Way (APH OC)

At the request of @ilovemaryland345 I’ll be taking a look at a few OCs that they recommended to me. This is one of them. The other is the Confederate States, which I just hope is not as racist as it sounds.

Anyway, let’s get funky. 

Milky Way is a small loli-like girl in the universe. 

Reservations aside about making an OC for the entire fucking galaxy, why on earth would she be child sized? She’s literally billions of years old. I think a being that is chronologically that old would at least be adult sized.

Her mother would be Galaxy, 

Isn’t she the galaxy? She’s her own mother? Excuse me?

and her closest friend, Time. 

I don’t even have a proper reaction for that. All I can say is that an OC in Hetalia that is the very concept of time is utterly absurd. She’s her own mother and she is also best friends with Time. Right, got it.

Milky Way is the representation of the Milky Way. Another name for her is Dreamland.

Dreamland. 

She-- HUH?

Like I genuinely don’t know what the fuck to say to that. She, who is also the fucking galaxy, is also dreamland? What? How does that work? HOW? 

Appearance

Milky Way has dark purple hair with magenta ends. Her eyes are a magenta-pinkish colour, with little hearts in her eyes. Dreamland (It's a nickname, she is often called perfection and perfection can only be achieved in dreams hence the name Dreamland.) 

Wow, okay so just. A blatant Mary Sue. Also, no. I’m setting aside the absurdity of this OC for a few seconds to think logically, if that’s possible here. 

No Hetalia characters have unnaturally colored hair. They look like the country they represent, as in, what the largest population of people from that nation look like. They can’t even dye their hair. I just-- My brain is hurting. This is not an OC that works in Hetalia.

has her hair in bunches, most like Nyo!Canada's. Her magenta fringe hides most of her forehead. On top, she has a heartlike curl on the side of her head.

There was a link there, and the art linked to it is very good, but I removed it, because I’m unsure if that is stolen art or not, and I don’t promote stolen art here on this blog.

Personality

Milky Way is happy and optimistic person, who can be seen as annoying. Not many people are able to see her, and therefore is a dandere. 

Okay so that’s just not what a dandere is. A dandere is an antisocial, timid, and shy character who doesn’t express emotions very much. Think Hinata Hyuuga from Naruto or Shigeo Kageyama from Mob Psycho 100. Sure, Mob is cheerful enough, but he’s also not really an expressive person. The personality described above is an oxymoron, is all I’m saying.

She has no social experience outside of the magic trio. Since Italy (Galileo Galilei discovered the Milky Way, and he was from Italy.) had been the one to discover her, she has many traits from him such as being an optimistic person. Her salty side is never really shown, because she isn't fond if being savage like one of her founders. (Romano~).

Um, okay. That’s all I can say. Because I genuinely don’t know how to react to that. Galileo was indeed the first to see the Milky Way through a telescope, so I guess that could be a connection to Italy. However, as far as we know, billions of undiscovered worlds could be somewhere off in the galaxy, and I don’t know if us humans would’ve been the first to observe the galaxy. It just feels odd to me that she’d be so connected to Italy. I guess since he’s one of the main characters in Hetalia, but I dunno, something just bothers me about that.

Backstory/History

Milky Way used to be a depressed little ball of feelings. Her mother Galaxy never really had time for her, and so Milky Way was alone.

SHE IS THE GALAXY. MILKY WAY = GALAXY. IT IS CALLED THE MILKY WAY GALAXY. 

 (Her appearance at the time: short magenta-pink hair, with emotionless eyes. She was always so dull.)

Wait why the fuck would her appearance change?

One day, she saw the Earth. A small person was smiling up at her, with his telescope. That man was later known as Galileo Galilei. He ran to tell Italy, so was ecstatic. Romano, on the other hand, was not as excited.

Why? Why wouldn’t he think that was cool? 

When they came to see, Milky Way felt happy. She felt noticed. It was a nice feeling for her, and the first time she'd ever felt it. The Italies welcomed her with open arms, though she felt a little wistful in the country of Italy. Upon talking to her, the Italies realised she was not of Italia origin and wondered. They took her to the next World Meeting, asking anyone and everyone if they knew her. No one knew her of course, but they were intruiged by her.

Okay so that just doesn’t make any sense. She was discovered by Galileo, and Italy and Romano just assumed she was a part of Italy or of Italian origin? Why? Did Galileo just not tell them anything and let them assume he just found a piece of Italy floating off in space? Are they stupid? Did they physically go into space to speak to her? How did they get a message to her? 

This is fucking absurd, and I have so many questions.

Granted that not all of them trusted her or welcomed her with open arms like the Italies, she always loved the countries.

I thought Romano didn’t, but sure, okay.

Now she lives with her mother Galaxy, and comes to visit her good friends.

So the OC creator just is under the impression that the galaxy isn’t the same thing as the Milky Way. Did they mean to make this an OC for the Solar System? Because that would make so much more sense. It would still be silly, but less egregious. 

 (Italy & Romano, although Southern Italy never really grew found of her...)

But didn’t it just say they welcomed her with open arms? Did Romano just decide to lie about that?

She tries to make friends, but it never really works out.

With who? I mean, there could be some cool things done with this, if she was an OC for just the solar system. She could be acquainted with America, Russia, China, etc, because of the international space station. 

2P!talia/Cardverse/Nyotalia/2P!Nyotalia

Dreamland's 2P is a blonde haired gothic girl. Her pale blonde hair was in a short pixie cut, with electric blue eyes. She normally wears black clothing. Here's an example... [2]

That link actually led to nothing, just a grey image of nothing with an error message. I removed the link regardless.

She is extra salty, and rarely shows her sweet side. Being a kuudere character, she's quite popular with other countries because she is quite the mysterious character.

This entire thing makes my head hurt.

Milky Way has no comfirmed religion/ethnicity. (Although, I like to think of her as a Scientologist, believing in the Big Bang Theory etc.)

That... That isn’t what Scientology is. I also believe in the Big Bang Theory, but that doesn’t make me a Scientologist. Scientology is an actual cult. It isn’t just a religion based on facts and logic because it has ‘science’ in the name. 

Her relationship with Galaxy is kind of tattered.

Guess she needs to work on self love.

Dreamland is a panromantic asexual.

Another few people she knows are Romania, Norway & England mainly because of their magic. America & Canada are also some acquaintances. Even though she has not spent that much time with France, she takes SOME of her personality from him.

What? Just... huh? Why? I reiterate my point from the beginning, the Milky Way is a galaxy that is billions of years old. I have no idea why she would look 11 years old, but the fact that it says she’s 31 is even more baffling. Where the fuck did that number come from?

Her birthdate is 2nd December, being a Sagittarius. (The Milky Way's constellation is Sagittarius.)

The-- Okay. Sure. But there are also so many more constellations aside from that one in the Milky Way. Because the Milky Way is a galaxy. Full of stars. 

Her full name is Daphne (Italian spelling is: Dafne) Dreamland. Her origin/ethnicity is unknown for the moment~ Dreamland knows all the countries; it's just that they don't know her.

RULES

General:

FightAsOne is a mature group. No one under the age of eighteen will be permitted to join. This rule will not be negotiated or lowered.

NSFW posts should always be placed under a cut. Certain things like extreme violence, anything related to sexual assault and drug use need to be tagged with an appropriate trigger warning (ex: tw: drug use, cw: body horror)

This is a closed community. Interaction with characters outside of the FightAsOne group with your in-game character blog is not allowed.

Please make sure you follow all characters on the Follow List.

Follow the group’s main blog.

Track the tags listed here. You will also be required to follow any main plot or subplot tags as they are developed.

Read through the group’s Current Plot. Make yourself aware of the group’s Previous Plots.

We regularly use Discord for plotting big events and have an ongoing, casual group chat. Ask a mod for access if you are interested in joining.

Group Relations:

Stage One: Approach the player OOC - whether through Discord or Tumblr’s various means of private communication - and attempt to resolve the issue at hand.

Stage Two: If after approaching the player in question, the matter absolutely cannot be resolved on a player-to-player basis, alert the mods for assistance. We ask that you please provide a brief summary of your issue; to create an unbiased viewpoint, we will also contact any other players involved to hear their side as well. A Discord chat will be held with the involved players and the mods in an attempt to guide the discussion to a mutually acceptable compromise. The mods will not assist in any OOC issue unless Stage One has first been attempted.

Stage Three: If a resolution cannot be made after going through the previous two steps, the mods will decide on the best possible outcome and will inform both players as to the decision. Determining factors that affect these moderated decisions will be, first and foremost, the overall benefit to the group, the group’s current plot, and the involved players’ behavior throughout the resolution process. Decisions made by the mods in these scenarios are final and will not be rehashed for future debate.

Activity:

This is an action-oriented roleplay. There will be times when you are asked to be present for a certain plot. Generally, you will be given notice weeks prior to the event you are needed for. If you are unable to be present for a plot, notify the mods ahead of time.

Should you decide to leave the group while playing a character who is heavily involved in plot related threads, you must contact those involved within your plot threads to work out a resolution prior to your unfollow notice being posted. A mod will assist if need be.

We’re extremely liberal when it comes to a lot of things, but one rule we actively enforce is our activity requirement. Only fourteen days of unannounced inactivity will be tolerated. If you are unable to post, will be busy, need to go on a temporary hiatus, or will be unavailable for any amount of time, we ask that you send a notice via ask box.

Six weeks is the maximum amount of time given for hiatuses. Regular OOC chat activity while on hiatus will be considered a sign that the hiatus is over and activity checks will resume as normal. Should a player take frequent hiatuses, they will lose one week of time for each consecutive hiatus (for example: Person A takes a six week hiatus, comes back for two weeks, and takes another hiatus; they will only get five weeks of hiatus time). This rule will apply for anyone who comes back from a hiatus and isn’t consistently active for at least six weeks.

After two weeks of unannounced inactivity, you will be placed on activity notice.

There is a two-strike policy in place here at FightAsOne. If you have been placed on activity notice a total of two separate times (equating to a month of unexplained absence), you will be asked to give up your spot due to inconsistency.

Following a week of consistent activity for a character holding either one or two activity notice strikes, an existing strike for that character will be removed.

If a player is consistently on activity notice but avoiding strikes by making single posts at the cut off time (consistently gaining and losing strikes), they will be asked to post a minimum of three in-character threads before the next check date. If the player fails to do so, they will be asked to give up their character due to inconsistent activity. This rule is designed to prevent abuse of our activity policy and prevent character camping.

We require that players be at least four weeks active on each character they play before picking up another. This is to ensure player activity as well to grant opportunity for new players to join the game.

There is a maximum of four characters per player. Only two of your characters can be Avengers.

Players who pick up a villain as a secondary character may have that character exempt from activity notice as long as their main characters remain off notice. Players may NOT pick up a villain without having some idea as to the direction they are going to take the character (whether this is with a certain character/group of characters or picking up a villain for plot purposes).

Bold/italicize memes, ooc meme replies, photos or gifsets, and text reblogs/character musing reblogs do not count as player activity. Only on dash threads, starters, writing prompt memes, or character headcanon/analysis writing prompts will count as character activity.

APPLICATION & GUIDELINES

As this group will oftentimes include mature subjects, content and storylines, we ask that no one under the age of eighteen attempts to join.

Read the Rules to make sure you can adhere to them.

Send in a message prior to applying to make sure your desired character/faceclaim is available.

Reservations for characters last twenty-four hours. Additional time can be requested provided that no one else has expressed interest in the reserved character. In the event that multiple parties are interested the same character, both applicants will be given 24 hours to submit an application, at which time the application that best fits the game will be selected.

SUBMIT an application comprising of a few consecutive paragraphs. Our application form including a writing example can be found below. Remember: we accept players based on quality, activity level, and fit for our group.

Please allow up to twenty-four hours for your application to be reviewed.

Once accepted, please make a separate account for your character. No subblogs. Do not use an account that you maintain to interact with independent roleplayers or another group.

Follow all our characters.  

Upon joining, new players are encouraged to either write a brief oneshot that details their character’s current whereabouts and activity, or construct an ‘about’ page on their character’s blog that performs the same function.

Writing Sample:

He sits there in the abandoned dirt and dried grass of Fort Lehigh, head in his heads, fingers gripping too-long hair as his brain swims and his stomach churns.  He wants to scream.  Maybe even should scream (after all, the place he could once vaguely associate with the word ‘home’ is desolate, empty – no one to hear him).  He should be allowed that, right?  One moment of complete, familiar abandon in reaction to years – no – decades of control.  Still, he remains silent despite every image burning behind his eyelids giving him every reason not to.

He doesn’t blame Steve.  Or at least he tells himself that (an endless mantra – he doesn’t, he doesn’t, he doesn’t, he doesn’t, he can’t) as he tries to grasp at older memories. Before the fall, before the war.  He can’t fault Steve for wanting that back (he can), can’t fault him for doing what he thought was the right thing (he won’t).  A part of him feels guilty for leaving him at the warehouse, knows what it must look like.  But he can’t bear the idea of being around Steve right now.  Not after he’d just tried to kill him.  Not when the impulse and the thought to do so were so clear in his mind, fresh and lethal.  Steve had his own problems to deal with (he refused to acknowledge that one of those problems was probably still him), he didn’t need his added to the mix.

Looking around at the weathered lodges of the camp, it was hard to imagine that he used to peddle cigarettes, magazines, and sometimes alcohol to soon-to-be soldiers. For cash, favors, or just to give himself some sense of belonging. He’d been so young.  Its current decay is somehow fitting.

Heaving a sigh as his thoughts settled into the closest thing to calm he figured they’d get, he pushed himself to his feet, brushing the dirt off of his clothes.  He had work to do.

"What do you fear?"

In the aftermath of the Accords, our heroes face a time of great uncertainty. Friendships are broken, faith is shaken, and the future is unknown. In the shadows of the chaos, an organization calling itself The Hand seeks to take advantage of the crumbling foundations of society.

How does one sustain an empire that lasts?  Yearning for immortality, they seek out knowledge of rumored mystical, powerful artifacts scattered across the globe in the wake of Asgard’s destruction and the Skrull invasion.

Meanwhile, HYDRA and their leader, Sinthea Schmidt, is looking for outside means to maintain HYDRA’s subversive power within S.H.I.E.L.D. and beyond. With the two organizations working to upend the natural order– heroes, villains, and civilians alike will be caught in the maelstrom.

PHASE ONE TIMELINE

→ Events beginning June 3rd, 2018:

Jessica Jones has an explosive fallout with Luke Cage, while Kilgrave ensures the heroes of Hell’s Kitchen are not prepared to fight back against the rising tide.

Lawyers find themselves cleaning up the loose threads of the criminalization of vigilantism in the wake of the Accords.

Harlem begins to notice the rise in crime, as young men are recruited to move arms through the city.  Drug dealing is also on the rise in Harlem and Hell Kitchen neighborhoods.

The X-Men notice a rise in the sudden disappearance of mutants following the fallout of the Accords.  They begin to investigate and find something shocking about the missing persons.

The Daily Bugle publishes reports of exciting archaeological discoveries across the globe, the results and recognition of which arouse suspicion in the more cosmic-minded heroes.

The Guardians and Asgardians look into identifying and recovering some of the lost artifacts arising around the globe, knowing the danger of these items falling into the wrong hands.

As investigators begin to look into a mysterious series of shell companies, New York’s corporate elites- Rand, Stark, Osborn- begin to examine their own holdings.

Everything begins to coalesce as a shadowy threat emerges from the very roots of New York City itself, forcing the Avengers’ hand in retaliation.

PHASE TWO TIMELINE

PREVIOUS PLOTS & TIMELINE

DARK REIGN — MARCH 2013 - NOVEMBER 2013

Overview:

The Chitauri Invasion and subsequent unveiling of The Avengers raised many questions for the people of Earth. Questions that, in the months following the Battle of Manhattan, transformed into outcry as the devastation wrought upon New York state was put to long-term perspective. The World Security Council announced that in light of his failure to safeguard New York from alien attack, Nick Fury would step down from his executive role within S.H.I.E.L.D.: Norman Osborn would be taking over as Director. Soon after, Osborn fired Maria Hill and appointed Victoria Hand Deputy Director. With his team now in place, it was time to gain the trust of the people whilst casting doubt about the heroes that protected them. His first order of business was to recruit a group of his own “heroes” and unveil them to the world as his new Avengers team. His Avengers included such criminal maniacs as Bullseye and Daken. Vigilantism was subsequently ruled unlawful. Osborn used the Battle of Manhattan as proof that the former Avengers along with their allies were a threat. With superheroes now considered outlaws, the Dark Reign began.

Result:

Heroes were sent into hiding in order to survive. Those who chose to remain, such as Tony Stark, were openly attacked or captured and imprisoned. Osborn continued to extend his reach by ordering what he thought to be successful hits on both Hawkeye and Captain America. Several heroes were apprehended while some were added to his Dark Avengers roster, including James Barnes as Captain America. But the heroes were making progress of their own, coming together in secret to form a plan to put a stop to Osborn’s rule. Eventually, Osborn’s schemes began to unravel beneath him. Daken, recognizing the signs, began making plans to betray his superior. During a daring rescue, the imprisoned heroes were freed. With Osborn’s forces weakened, the final battle ensued and Osborn’s treachery was exposed. Norman Osborn and his Dark Avengers were defeated and sentenced. For his part in Osborn’s capture, Daken was pardoned and Maria Hill was reinstated as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

RISE OF ULTRON — FEBRUARY 2014 - AUGUST 2014

Overview:

After the shadow cast by Norman Osborn’s Dark Reign passed, our heroes enjoyed a period of relative peace. Determined to ensure that the team would never have to face a bitter divide again, Tony Stark converted his New York City Stark Tower into the Avengers Tower and invited the team to move in. It was Stark’s hope and belief that this would further unite the team against any threats that may arise. During this time, Dr. Hank Pym was formulating a plan of his own and the Ultron project was born. Pym, who had been contracted by S.H.I.E.L.D., reported his progress to the organization who in turn took possession of the Ultron robot and modified it, uploading to it a program known as Project Insight. What both S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists and Dr. Pym failed to realize was that the AI had already begun to rewrite its programming. After publicly breaking ties with the Avengers, Director Hill announced to the public that the Ultron robot was now on patrol, predicting and preventing threads in order to ensure civilians’ safety. It wasn’t until Ultron openly attacked Thor after deeming him a threat that people began to question whether or not the robot could be trusted to protect innocent lives.

Result:

The attack against one of their own forced the Avengers to publicly oppose S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Ultron project. Tensions continued to rise as the robot became more reckless with each arrest, eventually favoring killing targets instead of apprehending them. With S.H.I.E.L.D. now unable to control Ultron, the Avengers confronted the AI and managed to damage him before he made his escape. The team returned to the tower post-battle only to have it taken over and put into emergency lockdown by Ultron, who was using Tony’s lab to repair and upgrade himself. Ultron then unleashed his army of Ultron bots and a fight ensued. Many heroes were injured and Bruce Banner was killed. After a heartbreaking goodbye, the team regrouped. Now joined by Hank Pym and Cable, as well as armed with an Oscorp-patented electronic disabling device invented by Max Dillon, they launched one last attack against Ultron. While the team weakened the robot, it was Cable who dealt the final blow, sacrificing himself in the process. Ultron was defeated but not without cost.

INFINITY WAR — NOVEMBER 2014 - JUNE 2015

Overview:

During what was supposed to be an ordinary retrieval mission, the Winter Soldier stumbled across an exchange between AIM and HYDRA, acquiring a device he believed to be a weapon of mass destruction. The item was given to Jane Foster and later to Tony Stark for analysis. While the heroes attempted to discover the stone’s origins, the titan Thanos began recruiting forces in order to obtain the legendary Infinity Gems, pulling Loki into the fold through the Mind Gem’s powerful persuasion, having had already recruited the Red Skull from the voids of space he’d been transported to in 1945. Having learned of Jane Foster’s unfortunate encounter with the Aether, Thanos had Loki remove its essence from her and return it - another gem in his collection. The magnitude of the threat humanity would face was soon revealed after Tony Stark’s work on the Soul Gem attracted HYDRA’s attention, causing the Red Skull to launch a brutal attack on Avengers Tower.

Result:

After an interrogation revealed Thanos’ plans to attack Asgard and Xandar for the Infinity Gems residing there, Bucky Barnes reported to the Avengers’ liaison, Sharon Carter. Despite the tension between S.H.I.E.L.D. and the superhero community, both agreed to set their differences aside in the face of such a cosmic threat. With the Avengers’ home in ruins, Tony Stark opened the doors of his family’s mansion as new headquarters and a place to address the task at hand. After an alliance with the Guardians of the Galaxy, two teams were formed, one headed for Asgard and the other for Xandar. Team Xandar’s endeavors were completed successfully while their counterpart’s mission wrought disaster, a series of events triggering Ragnarok, half of the team’s heroes falling. Those who made it back were met with a New York City ravaged by HYDRA’s forces, its hospitals filled with superheroes, S.H.I.E.L.D. agenta, and civilians alike. The aftermath of Ragnarok found the fallen Asgardians’ souls inhabiting those of mortals while the rest of the heroes prepared for the imminent threat of Thanos’ wrath, armed with four of the six Infinity Gems. When the titan finally attacked, he faced off with Scarlet Witch, who - her powers exacerbated by the gems - managed to thwart their enemy single-handedly.

Overview:

Unbeknownst to the heroes of Earth, the destruction Thanos left in his path in his bid for absolute power decimated the planet known as Skrullos, home of the Skrull empire. In the ashes, those who remained turned to the exiled princess Veranke, whose prophecy of her people’s rise to power in the wake of their destruction seemed to be in motion. Their steady invasion spread to every sect of human society, including the superhero community, where their presence was revealed during a foray into a remote HYDRA base mounted by Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes. During the excursion, Rogers was seriously injured and - while Barnes attempted to stabilize his friend - revealed to be a Skrull. The revelation snowballed as Tony Stark was contacted and informed of the situation on-site, granting Pitt'o - Steve Rogers’ impostor - the chance to activate a Skrull virus that would wreak havoc not only on Stark but his entire network, shutting down countless security protocols (among them being S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers’), satellites, and memory banks.

In response, both S.H.I.E.L.D. and Oscorp sought to create a device capable of detecting the alien invaders. Others took a more hands-on approach, among them being Kraven - on a solo mission to hunt down street-level Skrull threats - and Maria Hill, bringing in Bucky Barnes and functioning as a two-person team to do the same on a more political sphere. However, any cohesion between the two major organizations was short-lived, falling to disarray as both S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers blamed the other for lack of progress, neither willing to admit to their own faults and shortcomings.

With the threat spreading to less Earthly places, Loki and Muninn embarked on a quest to discover the identity of the Skrull’s leader. While they learn that the queen, Veranke, has been posing as Sif of Asgard from the start, the Skrulls - with disorder seeded and agents in place hindering the progress of detection technology - began invading in full force, launching an attack on the Triskelion and claiming it as their base of operations.

Result:

With their resources, communications, and means of protection and aid cut away, the remaining Avengers took shelter within Fury’s Memorial base in D.C. in an effort to regroup. S.H.I.E.L.D. fled in a similar vein, taking up camp in the hidden barbershop base in Midtown Manhattan. The Skrulls, using their media connections, broadcast pleas from various outlets, including using an apparently held-hostage Harry Osborn as a means to demand a cease to all resistance efforts, eventually leading up to his publicly implied, apparent death.

Having reached a breaking point, the Avengers - led by Bucky Barnes as Captain America - launched an attack to reclaim the Skrull-held Triskelion. In the effort, Antoine Triplett was able to assist both Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. forces into the building while the vicious battle outside bled onto the National Mall. With the aid of Steve Rogers - alive and escaped from Skrull captivity along with other heroes - Barnes was able to track a defeated and wounded Veranke to an unfinished apartment complex, killing her and bringing an end to the Skrulls’ oppression.

EXTREMIS — FEBRUARY 2016 - AUGUST 2016

Overview:

After the digital corruption at the hands of the Skrulls during Secret Invasion, Stark Industries announced that the Stark Network is back online with advanced security measures. To rebuild his company’s reputation, Tony Stark took responsibility of its direction and announced the Starkdynamics event in Tokyo - an international think-tank comprising of a global consortium of brilliant people given a year to come up with a paradigm shifting concept. After 15 years of ostracism, representatives of Oscorp were allowed to attend the event as a goodwill gesture purely on the basis that the company is under new management as well as the good work they did during the Invasion.

While several companies showcased their work and research, Stark delivered a keynote speech announcing the commencement of Project Epsilon with the procurement of Extremis which harnesses the bioelectrical potential to hack and upgrade the human repair center, with the prospect of accelerated healing, boosted immune system and new organ generation - unbeknownst to the crowd, his personal goals for the project being to heal himself of the shrapnel injuries his sustained that made him dependent upon his arc reactor technology. Harry Osborn - in a similar vain - seeing the potential for Extremis to cure his inherited, terminal disease, approached the Avenger with the offer of collaboration. Despite tensions, the two came to an agreement. They each selected the best minds they know to aid them in their research, one being Osborn’s pick - Jemma Simmons, who - on Maria Hill’s orders - uses the offer to gather intel for S.H.I.E.L.D..

Despite initial difficulty (and side-research requested by Stark of Reed Richards, exploring the potential of Extremis to unlock the key to the Super-Soldier Serum given to Steve Rogers), the team made a breakthrough. To celebrate, Osborn and Stark hosted a Casino Royale event, the winnings to be donated to charitable cause Citizens’ Heroes. Despite the festive atmosphere attended by S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and Avenger alike, Bruce Banner confronted Stark about the direction he’d taken the Extremis project, their argument turning heated and provoking a Hulk incident. Though S.H.I.E.L.D. attempted to quell the situation and the Avengers assisted in clean-up, the incident became a PR nightmare. Banner reached out to Bucky Barnes to confirm his departure from the Avengers, and not long after, Stark did the same.

Result:

With newfound single-minded focus on his work, Stark discovered Oscorp files of questionable content, including connections to the Ravencroft Institute’s dabblings in human experimentation and schematics on patented Stark Industries technology. The discovery brought about a full breakdown of communication between the two CEOs as Stark began shutting Osborn out. In the following weeks, Stark staged a hackathon, hiring Yelena Belova to retrieve the Extremis sample from Oscorp’s Brooklyn lab. Osborn, panicked, alerted both S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers to the theft, leading to a conflict of jurisdiction between Sharon Carter and Bucky Barnes and hindering the search for the sample.

Upon the loss of Oscorp’s AI, K.A.R.I., to the stalwart defense of J.A.R.V.I.S. following Osborn’s attempt at forcing a retrieval of the stolen data from Stark’s servers, Osborn’s health rapidly deteriorated. This process once more ushered in the Green Goblin, who carried out several attacks against Stark Industries’ facilities, leaving almost a hundred casualties in their wake. During another of the Goblin’s attacks - the now unused Avengers Mansion - the two clash, leaving Stark severely wounded, his arc reactor destroyed, and - if not for the assistance of Loki, who had his own grudges against the Goblin - left for dead.

Delivered to the Baxter Building and with Extremis administered, Stark learned the Goblin’s true identity. After a brief encounter with Bucky Barnes, the Goblin fled for Avengers Tower, laying waste to Stark’s suite. Barnes, having received the programmed distress signal, arrived too late, met only with a dejected Tony Stark amidst the ruins of personal belongings and technology. What should have been a welfare check between teammates turned into an embittered dispute, months of mutual frustrations coming to a head as the two Avengers clash - breaking bones and trust. With the knowledge that the missing Extremis sample had been given to the wayward Avenger, Barnes reported to Sharon Carter and - with Stark and Osborn battling it out over Manhattan - the two sent their forces for aerial and ground support. The battle between the two enhanced corporate moguls ended in a destructive stalemate over the East River, with both participants plunging into the depths below as lower Manhattan was thrown into darkness at the hands of an explosive EMP burst, set off by the Goblin in one final act of vengeance.

CIVIL WAR — AUGUST 2016 - AUGUST 2017

Overview:

As New York City began to recover from the disastrous outcome of the brawl between Iron Man and the Green Goblin, the United Nations World Security Council resolved to take necessary action to counter the rising tide of an increasingly unaccountable enhanced vigilante community. With immense pressure placed upon S.H.I.E.L.D. to direct the momentum of such a measure, a hearing was held in Washington D.C. with Maria Hill and Sharon Carter - from it, the Agreement Concerning Cooperation, Oversight and Registration of Discovered Superhumans (Accords) were soon subject to a first draft. Tony Stark was the first Avenger to view it, and - in the aftermath of Extremis - became its first supporter.

When the Accords were revealed to the public, they were met with an array of tension among civilians, heroes, and vigilantes alike. As a facility to hold those in direct opposition of the new law was revealed on Hart Island, protests began to spark. Heavy hitters such as Steve Rogers took their disagreements to the UN General Assembly, while the rest of the Avengers met among themselves to discuss their course of action only to find themselves on opposite sides of a fence. When the final day arrived, in a gesture of good will, the World Security Council’s Alexander Pierce, with support from Director Maria Hill and Deputy Director Sharon Carter, offered a ceremonial signing of the Accords on S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Iliad Helicarrier to Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes.

With inside string-pulling from HYDRA’s Jack Rollins and Grant Ward, what the public was led to believe was a bureaucratic olive branch spiraled into a terrorist attack as the Helicarrier crashed into Liberty Island. With the Iliad’s black box released to the public, both Barnes and Rogers were implicated in the attack and forced underground. Matters only worsened when, during the memorial service for the fallen S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Alexander Pierce was assassinated and all evidence pointed to Barnes being the one responsible. It was enough to sway public opinion, and registration becomes mandatory for all enhanced individuals.

After a disastrous scrap between a S.H.I.E.L.D. S.T.R.I.K.E. team and several enhanced, S.H.I.E.L.D. tasked it’s science division, along with the help of Jane Foster, with the job of inventing a means of detecting such individuals in order to better protect their operatives in the field. To further assist, S.H.I.E.L.D. unveils the Vision, their newest asset and a strong proponent of the Accords.

Result:

The World Security Council, under the new direction of Gideon Malick, began implementing the detection device for offensive purposes. After learning of this decision, Jane Foster - as Thor - alerted the underground heroes of their plans. Wanda Maximoff reached out to the mutant community and other scattered fugitives of the Accords with the offer to use Cerebro as a means to combat the detection tech, and alliances were formed.

Meanwhile, those who were sent to the Hart Island Facility learn first hand of darker endeavors taking place behind the secured walls. Mistreated, experimented on, and tortured - human rights violations took place beneath the government’s nose at the hands of infiltrators from HYDRA and other seedy organizations. Rumors of these conditions leaked outside the walls and water of the prison, and from Sharon Carter and Steve Rogers to Harry Osborn and Kasper O'Connor, insider and vigilante investigations led to a massive prison break. The Hart Island prison was left in ruins, and details of what took place within were soon released to the public. The UN World Security Council announced a period of amnesty for the fugitives while the Accords were amended to ensure no such horrors would take place again.

Christmas Makeup Review

I’ve been using most of my makeup I got for Christmas, so I decided to write a review of them

LORAC Mod Goddess PRO Liquid Lipstick Set: 10/10

I’m in LOVE! The set I got was vol. 1: Vol I - Soft Pink/Plum Pink. I was very afraid at first because the formula in the tube is so watery. But the application is so smooth, and it is the longest wearing lipstick I have ever owned. I don’t normally wear lipstick because I bite my lips a lot and eating throughout the day just wears it down to a gross patchy mess, but I was able to eat a salad, go to two meetings, run errands, and eat a slice of pizza for dinner before my lips became noticeably patchy and worn down. This is the best makeup I got this Christmas.

Benefit Dandelion Brightening Baby-Pink Blush: 10/10

Love, love, love! I normally don’t wear blush because it always looks so fake on me, but this blush is so subtle that I honestly forget that I put it on. I don’t need any additional brushes when I apply it, because the brush it came with is perfect for cheeks. Couldn’t recommend this more.

Benefit High Beam Liquid Face Highlighter: 9/10

Oh my god, this is amazing! I normally don’t use liquid highlighter, but this has changed my mind. Its highly pigmented and can be seen in any lighting. With that said, it’s definitely best to save this for a night out or an off-day, because I wore this to my office job and that’s all I could see about myself, in a bad way. The application is also a little messy, because brushes don’t work well. You need to use your fingers to get this in. But the little brush in it is perfect for applying to tight spots, like your upper lip to define your lips.

Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick Comfort Matte: 8/10

I bought one of these this summer for recruitment and I liked it well enough. It was in Crimson, a rich red, so I noticed the transfer to my teeth and everything more. But it was fine for a four-hour day with only one reapplication, so I got two more colors this Christmas. I really like 1993 because it’s a really subtle brown, and Trivial is also a subtle pink-nude color, but the transfer problems I had with Crimson were still there. Still, it’s not a bad lipstick if you have the time to reapply every couple of hours.

Too Faced Melted Latex Liquefied High Shine Lipstick: 7/10

I got two of these: one in Bite Me and Safe Word. Application is easy; The formula is pretty good, but my only complaint with it is that the longevity isn’t that great. I can get about a good two hours out of it, with drinking from a straw and all, but the transfer to the straw is heavy, and it wears out fast. I’m not that big of a fan of Safe Word because the outside and swatch made it look like a lighter, more natural pink, but it is definitely bright pink. I really like Bite Me though, because even though it is advertised as a deep red, it goes on as more of a brown-red than anything. I’m all about some browns and nude lips, so that’s a plus for me, but that advertising can be deceptive for others.

Too Faced Unicorn Survival Kit: 7/10

I’ve had this lipstick since it came out and I love it by itself and over a black matte lip. The liquid lipstick is so much better than the stick, although I’m just better with liquid than a stick. The liquid is more pigmented than the stick. Still, they both do an amazing holographic job. I’m not too cracked up on the highlighter, however, because I’ve used other colorful holographic highlighters that work better than this. But the bag it comes with is too cute and can hold so much more than what it comes with, so it’s perfect for travel.

Benefit Roller Lash Super Curling & Lifting Mascara: 7/10

I got a few different mascaras for Christmas, but I love this one. The wand has small bristles so it doesn’t clump the mascara on your lashes like some of the others. This is also it’s downfall, as it take numerous tries to get the mascara fully on your lashes. I’ve really like it as a primer mascara and have started using it as that, but because it’s advertised as a stand-alone mascara, I’m going to rate it as such. Otherwise, this product would be a 10/10 as a primer.

Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara: 7/10

I really like this mascara, but I can’t say I love it. Compared to UD Perversion mascara, I can’t say it’s the greatest. But it does what it needs to with an easy build-up and minimal clumping. I still prefer the Perversion mascara though, but a travel-size of this will do just fine.

Glamglow Poutmud Wet Lip Balm Treatment: 6/10

It’s decent. The color is subtle and nice, but falls off fast. But it’s supposed to be a lip balm, not a lipstick, so I won’t fault it for that. It doesn’t moisturize my lips as much as I thought it would, but its not too bad. The application isn’t that great, because it stains your finger and you need to buy a brush. Overall though, I still wouldn’t rate it that bad, but it’s not that great, either.

Benefit Gogotint Bright Cherry Tinted Lip & Cheek Stain: 6/10

The rating on this would be so much higher if it wasn’t advertised as a cheek stain as well. The cheek stain aspect is too pigmented and makes me look like a clown. The lips stain, however, is a gorgeous subtle red with only minimal transfer that stays on the whole day. If I could rate each use separately, the lip stain would get a 9 and the cheek would get a 2 (because it does stain your cheek), but together, I can’t give it more than a 6.

Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer: 6/10

I know this is a cult classic, but honestly, I’ve used better bronzers. I think it’s because I hate the application brush. It chunks the bronzer on and really doesn’t blend it out. It may just be that specific brush though, because the Benefit blush I got has the same applicator and it works great. I normally have to blend it out with my Kat Von D contour brush, but it looks fine after that. It’s very subtle and nice for my office job, but I would want something for defined for the social life.

Benefit Watt's Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter: 5/10

Super pigmented, really pretty swatch, but SO difficult to put on. I feel like every time I glide it across my cheek, my foundation is coming off and the highlighter isn’t going on. The application process is so tedious: you have to carefully dot it and this use your fingers to gently. It’s mess and long. However, I still think it’s worth it for days when foundation isn’t a must, and the golden tint is perfect for summer coming up, so I’m going to keep it around, especially for days when I have time to play with it.

Benefit They're Real! Double The Lip Lipstick & Liner in One: 5/10

I’m gonna be real, I haven’t used it since I tested it out. I don’t wear lip liner, so I don’t see myself using this as much. However, it glides on smoothly and came off smoothly, so that scares me about the transfer. All in all, I assume it’s pretty decent, but I’m going to go in the middle, since I won’t really use the liner.

Buxom Lash Mascara: 5/10

I’m disappointed that I don’t like this, but it’s not something I can’t work with. The applicator is nice, but the formula is too chunky. I get spider-lashes very easy. It’s great for a night out or when you’re doing a dramatic eye, but it not great for professional, business looks. The chunkiness of it can be fixed with a clean wand going over it, but if you’re always rushing to get ready, I would skip this.

Too Faced Pretty Little Planner: 4/10

Horrid. I use it everyday because I want to get it gone. Only certain of the shadows are blendable or even show up (looking at you, Snooze U Lose). I was very excited about this palette because I could use a lot of the shadows for work, but they don’t seem to show up on my lid at all. Also, the Better Than Sex mascara is very chunk and gives me spider-lashes. I had heard so many great things about this mascara, but now that I’ve tried it, I’m very disappointed. The packaging was cute and I think I’m going to use the planner as a makeup calendar. But I do like it because it’s easy to take on the go, so as long as I don’t want to use a good chunk of the palette, it’s nice for travel.

Bareminerals BarePRO Performance Wear Liquid Foundation: 4/10

I got this after getting color-matched at Sephora and I’m not impressed. I got this is Golden Nude 13 and it’s more yellow than it looks. It’s very sheer and looks fine on just a sheer coverage, but I bought it as a medium to full coverage foundation, so it’s not too great. The formula is lightweight, and I don’t feel like I’m wearing makeup. However, I can see the powdery cake look after a while. Also, the formula is too watery for me. Like I know it’s supposed to be a liquid foundation, but I expect some stability in my makeup products, not a runny mess. In order to counter these faults, I mix it on a silicone applicator with Too Faced Born This Way foundation in Vanilla, 2 parts Bareminerals to 1 part Too Faced, just to give is a bit more consistency and diminish the yellow tones (for the record, I was trying to switch from Too Faced Born this way because it is too heavy the Vanilla color is too dark on me). Mixing these colors together gives me my perfect shade, but without the other foundation, this Bareminerals falls flat.

Sephora Collection Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer: 2/10

I’m actually mad about this one. I’ve used this concealer brand for a year now and loved it. Depending on my tone at the time, I can use either 03 Fondant or 05 Parfait on any acne, and 04 Butter cream on my under-eyes. This time I bought 05 Parfait and I’m extremely disappointed. The consistency is too hard for a liquid concealer and the color is more yellow than it was before. It doesn’t blend well and sticks out against my bare skin and my foundation. They used a new applicator, which I’m starting to this is a manufacturing error and it was supposed to be for lipsticks but I digress, and it’s so bad. But even with a concealer brush, it still looks horrible. I still love the 04 Buttercream under my eyes, but I’m honestly so disappointed in this concealer.

Has it already been another week? Two weeks down; 11 to go! I’m over 15% of the way there! Cue excitement for Mexico!

Let’s start out this weekly review post by doing going day-to-day on the rewards I earned.

Day 8: Three small rewards; one medium.

Smashbox PhotoFinish Primer, FP. Not a bad primer, but it’s one I’ve used before, which means I’m kinda meh about writing a formal review.

Almay Liquid Lip Balm in 400 Lilac Love. Top swatch. I’m excited for this as it really does feel more smoothing rather than a sticky gloopy gloss.

TWP Ahh-vocado! Sample Vial. One word currently: YES. Review to come soon (hopefully, if I can ever get my stuff together and stop re-applying it every hour just because I love the smell).

Day 9: Three small and one large reward

This day was the first day I got “nothing” as a reward for doing a behavior (5/5 goals achieved, but note only 4 rewards). I felt a little irritated, despite knowing it was a possibility. That said, I also knew I could get a reward the next time, so I didn’t feel unmotivated, which is the point of the system. Anyway, this day, I got:

Missha All Around Safe Waterproof Sun Milk. I used this on Saturday, and I think I like it but I’m not sure. It was very thin and easily rubbed into my skin. I will most likely not do a full review, but it is added to my list of potential sunscreens to repurchase.

Etude House Double Lasting Foundation Foils in Fair, Vanilla, and Ivory. I received a couple packets last week in a few other shades, and I believe I have one packet left to “complete” the collection. Once it’s complete, I’ll do swatches and a wear test on a color, if one is close enough to my skin tone.

Korres Wild Rose Vitamin C Brightening Oil. I’ll be honest; I’m scared to use this. It’s in my queue, though.

Anskin Cool-Ice Modeling Mask. This was my “large” reward, and I’m very excited. I haven’t used it yet because I told a friend that once I earned it, I would wait to use it until we could try it together! I still haven’t told her 😛

Day 10: One small reward.

This day was a particularly hard day, in which I had a rough day while Boyfriend was at work, didn’t go to the gym due to a miscommunication, and then proceeded to eat too much because we ordered in dinner and I didn’t even bother attempting to estimate what I ate.

That said, I did drink enough water, and I earned Revlon’s Lipstick in 660 Berry Haute, which is a definite berry shade on me and one I am excited to review. My HG lipstick is this formula (Mauvy Night), just as an FYI. I’m biased.

Day 11: One small, one medium, and one large reward (+ one “nothing”).

After Day 10, Day 11 felt much better. It started off with going to the gym, and even though it involved too much ice cream and eating out with my parents, I felt much happier and did manage to talk myself into tracking what I ate, even though I felt ashamed to admit just how much ice cream I consumed… I still did 4/5 behaviors and earned 3 rewards for it!

CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick in Kitty Purry. This is the top swatch, and it… well, it looks an awful lot like Delicious, a color I got last week. Still excited though! I picked this color out very thoughtfully.

Too Cool for School Dinoplatz Lip Balm in #1 Spilled Wine. This is the second swatch. It’s a grape-jelly smelling gel-like lip balm that is tinted to look like a dark red wine (“spilled wine”) but provides a lovely slight berry stain. I have two more colors waiting to be earned, and once I do, there will definitely be full reviews.

Etude House Play Color Eyes in Juice Bar. After being disappointed with the Blend quad, I was a little nervous about this. So far, it has swatched nicely, but it is quite warm with quite a bit of oranges! I’m interested in seeing how these work on my eyes.

Day 12: One small, one medium, and one large reward

1/2 Medium Reward for my small reward- I realized I have a lot of medium products compared to the most likely scenario, and I can’t seem to find much more small rewards to reach that most likely scenario. So I added a bunch of these!

CoverGirl TruNaked Roses Palette. Swatches off to the side. I have done a look with this already, and I find that it works really well with my eyes.

Blinc Electric Eyes Palette. This is the one I got from my Boxycharm this week, so I’m really excited to get this so soon! It swatched beautifully (not shown).

Day 13: Three small rewards and one medium.

1/2 Medium Reward- another one!! This is the second “1/2 medium” I’ve gotten this week, but I waited until the end of the week to “cash” these in.

CoverGirl InstantCheekBones in 230 Refined Rose. Swatches are there on the bottom right. I’ve been wanting to try these trios because I’m curious about their formula (compared to the other Cheekers). Hopefully will be reviewing!

The Organic Pharmacy Lip + Eye Cream. This is a deluxe sample tube, and I’m not sure if I want to open it yet. I’m currently working on a 5ml tube of eye cream, and it’s taking forever to pan.

Dinoplatz Lip Balm in #5 Pinky Pie. What’s the probability that I’d get two of these this week?! (Answer: about 0.2% chance). However, I’m pretty excited. I used this on Tuesday throughout work, and it’s a beautiful light tint on my lips! You can see the slight tint on that top right swatch. I can’t wait to do a full-on review of these lip balms!

Day 14: Three small rewards (+ one “nothing”).

(2) 1/2 Medium Rewards- which means another full medium prize to pick!

Twisted Wonderland Perfumery “Stay Puft.” This is a very marshmallowy scent- so sweet! Can’t wait to do a review!

TonyMoly Pikachu Mini Cover Cushion. It’s a pikachu-themed cushion foundation! I have opened it up and (shockingly), it might be too light for me right now.

Too Cool for School Egg Mousse Pack. This stuff claims to make “rough, dull skin smooth and radiant in 5 minutes.” I don’t know why I haven’t tried this yet, but it’s probably due to the overwhelming about of open deluxe sample face masks I have…

Weekly Thoughts and Recap

This week I lost another couple pounds, so I’m down just over five. I don’t like getting too specific into the numbers, but at the beginning as I’m still planning my food intake and exercise, I do feel the need to hone in fast-enough-but-not-too-fast, you know? I think about 2/week is a good pace.

This week I had two days in which I did not meet my energy balance awareness goals- Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Boyfriend and I miscommunicated about the gym and we ended up not going and instead ordering food (he wasn’t going to eat a real dinner… sorry, honey, but diet orange soda has no nutrients). I couldn’t even guess at what was in my dinner nutrition-wise, so I didn’t. On Saturday, my parents were in town and we went out to eat. I did guess at that one, but I ended up splitting a giant thing of ice cream with my sister, parents, and Boyfriend because I’d rather have memories and fun with people I love than lose an extra half a pound, tbh.

In terms of how I think the program is going: this was the first week in which I had the possibility of getting no reward for doing a behavior. I did notice feeling disappointment the three times that happened, but that isn’t what kept me away from my goals. I’ve noticed that my anxiety is one thing that keeps me from the gym. I don’t know how to adjust rewards to deal with this; I just need to work through some of that anxiety. I know that even if I were to insta-give myself a large reward (even the large ones I’m very excited for), I would probably still not go to the gym when my issue is anxiety, and I still wouldn’t be more energy-minded if Boyfriend’s health/happiness was on the line or if I hadn’t seen my family in several weeks and we were going out to eat. I am 100% okay with this, as I still want to live my life. The main point of this behavior mod is to be mindful of energy and choose non-food coping skills when my emotions are unbalanced.

Next week, there will be a higher chance of getting a “nothing” reward, and I’m a little scared honestly that my motivation will start to fail. I have four more work days (Sat, Sun, Mon, and then Wednesday), and I’m nervous that with the group of kids we have currently, I’ll be coming home so drained that without massive rewards, I’ll just ruin my goals ): I’m going to try positive talk though so counteract this.
