1. chipotle order? ooooo. Uh. I don't usually go to Chipotle because I like Moe's better. I have the cilantro-soap gene and so the cilantro-lime rice always tastes a little sad to me. Sorry D:
6. do you use a watch? I desperately want to be the kind of person who does, but no. Alas. I rarely have pockets for a pocketwatch (something I'm trying to slowly amend but requires more focus than I have right now) and I haven't found a clock necklace I tolerate enough (plus with grabby toddler and future grabby baby I'm disinclined towards necklaces). I had this really elaborate plan for converting a wristwatch I have with a really neat face into something that could be a necklace or a pocketwatch or a wristwatch, but I haven't bought the materials for it and the watch has since run out of battery (so I need to replace that) and a rhinestone on the watch face came loose and sometimes blocks the hands from moving (which is a thing I'd have to take to a professional). Some day! Maybe!!!
26. how’s your spice tolerance? Embarrassing. It's slowly going up a little bit as I get older but I really find that too much spice-qua-heat overpowers other flavours and I have a stronger preference towards complexity than towards merely "spicy." I've taken to adding a bit to things I think could benefit from a bit of heat, but it's really very little in the grand scheme.

Fast Food Vs Fast Casual Restaurants – What Is the Difference?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fast food and fast casual restaurants may seem the same, but there are actually some distinct differences. Fast food is fast because it’s quick to cook and order and you don’t have to wait long to get your food. It also tends to be cheaper than fast-casual restaurants. Fast casual restaurants offer a more upscale experience that can include better service, a nicer environment, higher prices for meals, and more variety on their menus.
What is the Main Difference Between Fast Food and Fast Casual Restaurants?
The main difference between fast food and fast casual restaurants is fast food is fast because it’s fast to cook and order, as well as how fast it gets to you once you’ve ordered. It also tends to be cheaper than fast casual restaurants. Fast casual restaurants offer a more upscale experience that can include better service, a nicer environment, higher prices for meals, and more variety on their menus.
How Can You Tell the Difference Between Them?
One of the easiest ways to tell if your restaurant is fast is by looking at its price range. Fast food tends to have lower prices, while fast casual is slightly pricier but still within an affordable range. If you’re new in town or don’t know where certain types of cuisine are, another good way would be through word-of-mouth. Other fast casual restaurants are Chipotle, Noodles & Company, Panera Bread, and Moe’s Southwest Grill, while fast food places include McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Bell, Subway, or Arby’s.
Examples of Fast Food Restaurants to Illustrate the Difference
Some fast food examples are Mcdonald’s, which is fast because it has a counter where you can order your meal without ever speaking directly to someone unless asked for additional items on your plate. Another fast food example is Taco Bell, with its drive-thru windows that allow customers to place an order through their car window before driving into the restaurant parking lot – this also means no waiting in line at all! Fast casual examples Include Chipotle, which is fast because you go down the line and choose what you’d like to eat and how much of it. There’s also a wide variety of options on their menu, giving you the chance to have something different every time. Noodles & Company is another fast casual restaurant with its made-to-order pasta bowls that can be customized however you want them – from the type of noodle to the sauce and protein.
Where Can You Go for the Best Fast Food or Fast Casual Dining?
For a great fast casual dining experience, check out Panera, which has a decent-sized menu with something for everyone. With locations all across the US, you’re sure to find one near you! If fast food is more your thing, then take a trip down to your nearest Wendy’s or Popeyes and enjoy some delicious fried chicken, or head to Subway, where you build your own sandwich however you want it – perfect if you have specific dietary requirements or just love trying new combinations of flavors! For another amazing fast food dining experience, head over to In-N-Out Burger, where burgers are made fresh and topped with delicious ingredients.
The Surge in Popularity for Fast Casual Dining
In the past decade, fast casual dining has become more popular than ever. This is for a variety of reasons:  people are looking for a better dining experience without having to spend too much money, fast casual restaurants offer healthier options than fast food places, and the overall trend of people wanting to cook less and eat out more has led to the success of fast casual chains. People are looking for a better dining experience without spending too much money: Fast casual restaurants offer a more upscale experience that doesn’t break the bank. You can often get a good meal at a fast casual restaurant for around $12 to $15, while fast food places will charge you less than half of that for a comparable dish. Fast casual restaurants offer healthier options than fast food places. Fast food chains are notorious for unhealthy menu items with high levels of sodium, sugar, and fat. Fast casual restaurants have been on the forefront of the healthy eating movement, offering meals with fresh ingredients and lighter sauces. The overall trend of people wanting to cook less and eat out more has led to the success of fast casual chains. As mentioned, Americans are cooking less and spending more time outside the home. This has led to an increase in the popularity of fast casual restaurants as people search for better – and more affordable – dining options.
Breaking Down the Biggest Names in Fast Food
Some of the biggest names in fast food include:  McDonald’s: Mcdonald’s is the largest fast food chain in the world with over 36,000 locations. It’s known for its burgers, fries, and chicken nuggets. Taco Bell: Taco Bell is a fast food Mexican restaurant founded in 1946. It is most famous for its tacos but also serves burritos, quesadillas, and other classic Mexican dishes. Burger King: Burger King is another popular burger chain founded in 1954. Some of its more famous menu items include the Whopper and the Bacon Double Cheeseburger. KFC: KFC – or Kentucky Fried Chicken – is a fast food joint specializing in fried chicken. It was founded back in 1930 by Colonel Harland Sanders. Wendy’s: Wendy’s is a fast food chain founded in 1969 and specializing in hamburgers. It has over 6000 locations worldwide, but most are in North America. Subway: Subway is another fast food restaurant with an overwhelming number of locations around the world – more than 44,000! It started in 1965 as Pete’s Super Submarines with only one location.
Some of the biggest names in fast casual dining include:
Panera Bread: Panera Bread is a fast casual chain founded in 1981. It serves sandwiches, salads, soups, and bakery items. Chipotle Mexican Grill: Chipotle Mexican Grill is another fast casual heavyweight with over 2400 locations. It’s most famous for its burritos but also have tacos, bowls, and salad options on their menu. Sweetgreen: Sweetgreen is a fast casual restaurant that focuses on healthy eating. All of its ingredients are organic, and it has a variety of vegan and gluten-free options available. Shake Shack: Shake Shack is a fast casual burger chain founded in 2004. It’s most famous for its Shackburgers, crinkle cut fries, and shakes.
The Future of Fast Food vs. Fast Casual Dining
Fast casual dining has had such a surge in popularity because of its good execution for things like menu items prepared at a higher level of quality without raising prices much. This has led to fast casual restaurants taking a ton of market share from fast food chains because they offer similar convenience and low prices but with the added benefit of better quality. They also have a branding advantage in a world more focused on healthy eating than ever before. As mentioned, customers are looking for healthier options, and many fast casual restaurants offer those options at affordable prices for those consumers. Thanks to this, the gap between fast food and fast-casual has become larger, and fast-casual is increasingly becoming the top choice for consumers looking to grab something quick and affordable while ensuring the ingredients and menu items remain healthy.
Your Next Outing
The next time you’re thinking of trying out a new restaurant, and you’re deciding between fast food and fast casual, keep in mind the number one differentiator between the two: speed. Fast casual restaurants are not fast food restaurants and will ultimately make the food slower than a fast food restaurant will. Fast casual restaurants will also serve you a higher quality of food. If you want something fast and don’t care about the price or wait time too much, fast food is your best bet at any given time. If you want something affordable but prepared quickly with high-quality ingredients – plus, it won’t break the bank – fast casual dining might be right up your alley. Beer Barrio
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After working Saturday, before date night at the movies (we saw The Bad Guys, btw!) It was time for dinner. After recommendation, we went to Beer Barrio located in Wilmington, NC. I didn't have any expectations, other than some Mexican food and a good time.
The scenery was great to start. We saw a bicycle pub trolley, and the weather was beautiful.
I don't know if I would personally choose to go back to Beer Barrio, but I would definitely go if invited. It's a cool space and the food was delicious, but I don't know if it's on my list of "must go back to" spots.
Let's start on a bad note, and end on the positives. To start, their Sweet tea was terrible. One of the worst teas I've ever had, I rate it a 2/10 just because I know I've definitely had worse tea in Wilmington. Another time on where that was at, but yes, Beer Barrio has some awful sweet tea. Note: this could be because of the water system in the Wilmington area. I was told that downtown water is not good if there's no filtration so I'm trying to convince myself that's what ruined it. You be the judge when you go. I traded it for a Diet Coke, so, yeah.
On the brighter side, everything else was great. Their ranch dressing was interesting! It has a chipotle twist to it which makes it stand out and I want to try more. I give their ranch a 6/10 because it wasn't a high tier ranch, but it was still really good. It was different and had spices & flavors I hadn't tasted in a ranch in a long time. It wasn't super thick, or super creamy, it was in the middle. It's one that you either love it or you hate it.
I had it with these hush puppies from the restaurant. They were good, but I'm not sure 5 hush puppies is worth $7. It could be the rising prices everywhere though.
The complimentary chips & Salsa were amazing! I loved them. They were definitely better than your Moe's next door. The salsa was light, and not too spicy.
I ordered a quesadilla with chicken. It tasted great! Plus, it came with a nice crunch as they add a chip in the flour fold. An interesting touch, that I prefer. I highly recommend the food at Beer Barrio.
Finally, the service and environment was excellent. The bartender was nice and served us with a nice attitude. She was knowledgeable and kept an eye on if we needed anything. The food came in a quick fashion + the temperature was perfect. Everyone was nice, and we enjoyed the dinner.
Overall, I give Beer Barrio a solid 7/10 as a place to go. The service was awesome, the food was great, and the environment was fun. The downs fall between the tea and the price.
If you like good tacos or quesadillas, give them a try.

And more yet! It's prepping fries if you're Wendy's (they're hand-cut), it's proofing and baking hundreds of loaves of bread if you're Subway, it's some 5'4" pile of offal shouting "THAT CHICKEN HAD BETTER BE WHITE MEAT" (if you're Moe's or Chipotle), it's hand-forming and weighing patties (if you're any place that has not-frozen burgers). It's so much more than just "flipping burgers." Take it from someone in the restaurant business since 2004.

Pancheros (also known as Pancheros Mexican Grill) is a fast casual restaurant chain serving Mexican-inspired foods. Pancheros prices are on par with its competitors, which includes Chipotle, Moe’s, and Qdoba. Guests watch as homemade dough-balls transform into perfectly pressed tortillas for their burritos in seconds. The freshness of the finished product is apparent just as much from taste as it is from touch, as Panchero's’ burritos are so structurally sound that they stand up on their own. Outback Steakhouse Menu Prices https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF5n85Y48xI Orange Leaf Menu Prices Ten years later, Panchero's introduced “Bob” the tool, which perfectly blends the ingredients together before the burrito is rolled up, ensuring that the guest gets a perfect bite every time. With Bob's help, we've torn down the walls that once stood between meat and rice, between beans and salsa. Ingredients can now co-conspire as one. Bob has single-handedly revolutionized burrito building and eating, forever. After 25 years in business, Panchero's has grown from our humble beginnings as a college favorite in Iowa City, Iowa to over 69 restaurants in 12 states. On The Border Menu Prices Which is better Chipotle or Pancheros?Overall, even without considering the bone, Panchero's proved itself to be the better burrito maker. The fresh tortilla, more flavorful rice, meats, corn salsa, and pico contributed to a cohesive flavor that overshadowed the one dimensional flavor presented by Chipotle. Are Pancheros healthy? But like Chipotle and other burrito chains, entrées can climb over the 1,000 calorie mark if you're not careful, and Pancheros has one add-on that's unhealthier than anything Chipotle offers: queso sauce, which contains 370 calories per 4.6-ounce serving. How is Pancheros different from Chipotle?Pancheros tortillas are soft and warm and could never do any harm. Even hours after being ordered, the tortilla is still just as amazing as it was when it was first made. Chipotle, however, has cold and brittle tortillas that it just warms up. Its meat is dry, and that makes for a sad burrito. Read the full article

May 24, 2021
Monday morning Lauren and Eli woke up early, like around 5:30 or 6. So early! Lauren drove herself to her school, where she teaches 8th grade Earth Science, about 15 minutes away. Eli was working from home that day. He has a really cool stand up desk in the living room. I could hear them getting ready, and then Eli on some work calls that morning, but it didn’t bother me, they were being such amazing hosts to me! I decided to wake up around 10. I said “hi” to Eli, who was working in the living room, where I had been staying.
I got ready and lazed around a bit while Eli was working. Around 11:30, Eli and I went to one of their favorite cafes, the Boulder Coffee Co. Eli and I both got coffee and he got a red velvet muffin and I get an egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a croissant. The artwork was really funky in the cafe, with stacks of old TVs as decor, too. My coffee and sandwich was really good! Eli and I chatted for a while, while he worked from his laptop and I started working on my blogs.
After over an hour, we decided to head out. Eli went home to continue working, but dropped me off at the Strong Museum on his way. The Strong Museum is technically a kids museum, but it seemed interesting enough! I got tickets for the museum and butterfly conservatory and started my trip around the museum.
The museum was two stories. I headed upstairs and saw some really old toys. There were video games and actual arcade games, Barbies, dolls of all kinds, board games, and more! It was cool to look through America’s toy past. Downstairs was grouped into areas like Marvel, books, and it even had a kids super market (made to look like their local supermarket, Wegmans). I made my way through there and found the butterfly conservatory! There were tons of butterflies in this super humid, tropical room. There were also some turtles and birds in the room. There were some really beautiful tropical plants in there too. I really enjoyed the conservatory.
I looked around the downstairs exhibits, then took one more trip through the toys upstairs. Some of the exhibits were interactive, which was fun. I really liked the Barbie section, and I even saw a Polly Pocket set, which was one of my favorites as a little girl. Bratz were there too, hahah! After Lauren finished class, Eli picked her up, then they picked me up at the museum.
Lauren and Eli liked to go to a burrito place like Chipotle on Monday’s, where there was a deal for a burrito, chips, and a drink, for $8. What a deal! So we drove there. Once we parked, I saw a cool looking bubble tea place. I haven’t had bubble tea in ages! We we went in there too, hahah. I got a passion fruit milk tea with tapioca bubbles and lichee boba, too. It was amazing! They shared a strawberry fruit tea with tapioca bubbles. Our next stop was Moe’s for burritos. I honestly think Chipotle was a little better, but it was still a good burrito! They also had way more topping choices than Chipotle. We took our food and beverages to go, then headed to a park!
We found a picnic table in partial sun and partial shade, so we sat down there and had our burritos. It was such a nice day out! Maybe it was around 75-80 degrees! We chatted and ate our food, then walked around the park for a bit. It was the Genesee Park. The Genesee River runs through Rochester. We hung out on a fallen tree and climbed around for a bit. Just soaking up the rays and company.
After the park, we headed home for the night. Since Eli and Lauren wake up so early, they like to go to bed early too, around 10. Once we got home, we hung out for the rest of the night. I took a shower and also talked to Mom on the phone, and their landlord, Rob, brought in some new flooring. Lauren and Eli had lived at this place for two years now. They were thinking about moving to a “cooler” place in Rochester, but once they brought up their concerns about their apartment, Rob jumped into action! Their apartment did feel dated, but I didn’t mind at all! I’m glad they are getting some upgrades to make them happier and more comfortable. We watched some more alien documentaries online and started one about Bob Lazar. Eli was kind of over the “whole alien thing” but Lauren and I were just getting started! We watched that for a bit, and had some snacks, (since we had dinner close to 4), then called it a night. We all got ready for bed, and said goodnight. I really can’t get over how amazing Lauren and Eli are as hosts. They never asked me for money for food, or gas, or anything! Of course, I offered to pay for things and would send them money on venmo. They are just really great friends. I was interrupting their work life, and they had no problems with it. I’m just really grateful for them. :]

Do you or have you ever owned a cup with your name on it? I’m sure I did at some point as a kid
What’s the most expensive crafts tool that you own? All of my craft supplies are relatively cheap. The biggest waste of money though was the laminator I bought on a whim. I’ve had NO use for it since lol. Oh well.
Have you ever woven baskets of any kind (wicker, paper, cardboard etc.)? I think I did some kind of basket making class at the library when I was little? I did all kinds of arts and crafts classes.
How do you like Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis? It’s fine I guess?
Speaking of Jerry Lee Lewis, have you seen the biopic about him? Nope
How about the biopic about Tina Turner? Also no
Do you like the TV-show Frasier? I don’t think I’ve seen a single episode
What’s something you know by heart? Every Killers song known to man
What is something you’re greedy about? I’m great at sharing.... actually to the point that I could stand to be a little more possessive and protective of myself and my belongings. I think it stems from being the middle child in a house full of girls. NOTHING was solely mine, and everything had to be shared between us.  How valuable does a coin have to be for you to bother to pick it up? I always pick up dimes ‘cause they’re messages from Heaven
What would be something you would wait in line to get for free? Pizza
Has there ever been a leak anywhere in your house? Uh yeah I guess?
Have you ever slipped in the shower? Surprisingly no!
Have you ever made any decorative crafts? If so, are they displayed? Mhm, quite a lot of stuff! I wish I crafted more often though.
Is it very humid where you are right now? Lol no, although it is unseasonably warm for February in Rochester. And by that I mean it’s like 35 degrees. HEATWAVE!
Do you have friends who you playfully flirt with? Nah
Doesn’t the Z in the Bzoink logo look like an L to you, too? What in the world?
Did you ever take that 5000 question survey that was circulating Tumblr? No, although I’ve seen it here and there.
Have you ever had to change a zipper in your favorite article of clothing? Oh no, that’s way too tricky!
Do you prefer buttons or zippers in general? Zippers I guess
Did your grandma have a box full of pretty buttons? Oh yes!
What’s the most exotic spice in your spice rack? Ha, I’m as white as it gets so none of my spices could really be considered ~exotic. That’s kind of a troublesome term anyways, is it not?
