There is nothing you would rather do than to continue to sleep soundly in the expensive plush mattress you bought not too long ago. It was a big purchase you saved up most of the funds from your second job to relish in and most of the time, you don’t get to with your grueling and demanding schedule. You fought yourself to sleep for a few more minutes, but your blaring alarm had other ideas. You turned your phone over to silence the noise, looking at the time to see if it was worth getting up right now. It was four a.m. and you knew that if you didn’t get your tired ass out of that bed, then your husband would let himself go hungry.

With a tired groan, you trudge out of your bed while rubbing the sleep out of your eyes while you start on your long day. First, you head to take a morning shower since you failed to take one last night while letting sleep take over your senses. After dressing in your scrubs, you put on some light makeup to hide the bags under your eyes, then tie a ribbon you received from a patient's daughter around your faux locs to give yourself a high ponytail. After preparing for the day, you sat on your couch and looked at the time to see that only an hour had passed. You thought about taking a small nap before getting ready to make a small breakfast and lunch for your husband, but you decided not to and just pushed yourself off the comfortable couch and prepared the food. After some time, you packed both of your breakfasts and lunches in four separate containers and placed them in a second bag before gathering your keys, work bag, and other loose items for work and heading out the front door.

You stood in front of your husband’s front door, checking your watch to see that you had about an hour before you had to be the work which was enough time to eat breakfast with your beloved and take a short nap before you had to head out. You didn’t bother with knocking on the door, seeing as you already had a key to the apartment, and opened it lightly. You didn't know if Ron was still sleeping, so you decided to head inside as silently as you could. You dropped your work bag next to the entrance, taking out the food in the process while removing your shoes and slipping on your personalized baby blue slides with your married name engraved on them. As you were doing so, you couldn't help but reminisce over the time you had put in the order for the couple slippers you had gotten made for your second anniversary. You looked over to the side to see if Ron’s were sitting there like before but were disheartened to see that they were missing. You were going to ask him about that later on. You take a second to be mesmerized again by the shoes you made. You had to remind yourself that they were also a special gift to yourself when you got hired at the hospital you’re currently working at. Ron made sure even in his depression to congratulate you and shower you with the love you’ve been missing since his accident. You stare at the flowers that don every surface of the slide with love seeing how beautifully delicate each petal is. Just like your husband, his perfect birth month flower for a perfect man. You wouldn’t want anything less.

You snap yourself out of your trance before you get too deep and enter the apartment fully. Ron was nowhere in sight, but you heard the low droplets of water from the distance and concluded that he was in the shower. You took that time to heat both of your breakfasts while also placing his lunch in the fridge. Once the food was perfectly warmed throughout and some sweet coffee was made, your husband decided to finally make his appearance. You looked up at him to see him physically flinch at the sight of you. You hope that he didn’t notice the hurt in your eyes as you realize that in the five years, you’ve been coming around every morning and “surprising him” when he’s not around, he has never greeted you the way he did. This was a first, which you then made sure to store in the back of your mind. “Oh, I forgot to tell you that you didn’t need to come over this morning. I’m waiting for Toto to bring me a new case and we were going to get something to eat.” Ron dryly told you. He was actively drying his hair while looking at the food you made this morning. He already figured since you brought him breakfast, that his lunch was already stored away so he figured if he put the food away for now, he could save it for dinner tonight. While he was going through his thoughts, he failed to notice the slight whimper in your voice as you replied, “Okay, I’m sorry I didn’t know,” you trailed off, losing your appetite in the same breath. You put away the food you were going to eat, placed it back in the bag you brought with you, and settled down on his mattress floor.

You watched as he haphazardly put his food in the fridge before flopping on the floor in front of you. By this time, he had already finished drying his hair off. Ron just stared up at the ceiling, and not once had he looked over at you since his initial surprise. The clear avoidance is itching at your already aching heart. You wanted to talk to him, hear his voice more as just speaking with your husband is the only thing that you can count on to bring solace to your already stagnant marriage and he can't even do that for you. What could you speak about? He does nothing all day but stays cooped up in his apartment when he’s not out solving murders with Toto. He doesn’t like to hear about what's going on at your job because all he thinks you do is look at vaginas all day and doesn't want to hear about any of that. Even though he knows that is not the only thing you do, you don't challenge him on that. Does he even want to talk to you? Do you bore him? Why does he keep you at such a distance? These were questions that plagued your mind but refused to speak up. Just like everything else that troubles you in your marriage, you place it in the back of your mind hoping to bring it up when he starts to open up more.

You were mulling over whether or not you should be the first to speak up when the blaring of your alarm was going off on your smartwatch indicating that it was time to get to work before you were late. You turned off the incessant noise and let out a short sigh. So much for that nap and quality married time, you thought to yourself before lazily picking yourself off the mattress and making your way out of the apartment. Even then, Ron didn’t even budge to see you off or say anything. Even after you wished him well and expressed how much you loved him. Once you were out the door and into your car, you let the booming sob you were holding in escape your lips. The tears were bulging out of your eyes even though you were trying to hold them back and not mess up your makeup but it was to no avail; you'll just tell them that you didnt get enough sleep and redo it in the bathroom before starting your shift. After a few minutes of crying your soul out, you started the car and headed to work.

After working a grueling double at the hospital, you were determined to just go straight home and refuse to give Ron any more of your time. You were thinking it over all day that your husband doesn't deserve you right now if he wasn't going to appreciate all the work you have done in the past five years. You didn’t even want a thank you, just something simple like a hug or a kiss. Hell, even just an “I love you” once in a while but you get nothing, and that hurts the most. This is something that has been on your mind for a long time and you thought that Toto being the light in his life would change the way he treated you but it only has gotten worse. You say that all in your head, but your body does the complete opposite and drives straight to his apartment. Once you had realized what you were doing, you were already parked in front of the complex. An irritated groan leaves your lips as you purposefully hit your head on the steering wheel trying to convince yourself to just drive off, but the yearning in your heart is telling you that you want to see your husband. As always, that side wins over you as you start to leave your car and head up to his door.

Once inside you can hear the faint sounds of his voice as well as another, much softer voice coming from the depths of the apartment. You were concerned about who would be here at this time of night that isn’t Toto. Did he make a new friend and didn’t tell me? You quietly took your shoes off and noticed that your slippers were gone. Confused, you just put on Ron’s much bigger plain slippers he insisted on using instead of the ones you bought for him and entered the room. There you see Ron sitting on a fold-up chair facing the other person while a smaller figure is sitting on the single sofa chair with its back facing you so you couldn't see them. Ron had noticed you enter his home, head peaking up slightly to look at you for only a few seconds. He locked eyes with you and tore them away. It felt like if he were to look at you any longer than he did, he would look at you with disgust. Maybe you were overthinking it but that is what your throbbing heart wanted to let you know and as always, you despise the feeling. Ron broke your thoughts with his low voice, making you look at the male in front of you quizzically. “Um, what was that again? I’m sorry it was a long shift,” you apologized, kicking yourself at the same time. Why am I even apologizing? Ron just gazed at you indifferently before clearing his throat and repeating himself. Ouch, another thing to add to the ever-growing list. “I said, this is Dr. Mofu, she’s going to help me and Toto find a cure,” he said as the woman mentioned stood up and frantically bowed to you while tripping on her own feet. You just looked down as Ron helped her and only could process one thing that was going on.

She was wearing your slippers.

Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective Episode 6 Review - Do Psychic Powers Exist?

I want you to take a closer look at the opening, mainly at the parts after the two sisters from the piggy bank case. You see Kawasemi and Yamane walking past Toto while Toto walks past the husband and wife from the hot springs case? Yeah, they were blurry before; same goes for Michiyo who shows up after that shot as she walks past Ron. I like that little detail of the minor characters showing up as well as someone as important as Kawasemi. It shows that even if these characters are mainly episodic ones, they still play a lot of significance in Ron and Toto’s sleuthing adventures.

Back on to the review, today’s episode mainly introduces a new character. Dr. Mofu Usaki is a renowned neurosurgeon who’s very accident-prone and clumsy when she’s not doing surgery. I do like that while she is pretty much a dojikko (otaku lingo for ‘cute clumsy girl’), she’s actually pretty competent with what she does. She was on a supernatural program to disprove the existence of psychic powers; she made solid theories on Torage’s credibility and she even performed CPR on the victim and could tell what sort of poison was flowing through his body. I love how she was written not as a cute girl who needs help, but as a cute competent girl who helped out in solving the abrupt murder case. However, the biggest mystery about Dr. Mofu is how she’s still alive. I guess her clumsiness gives her good luck, which reminds me of Colette from Tales of Symphonia who also had similar clumsiness.

The case was a rather quirky one. It stems from whether or not psychic powers were the cause of it. I think the most interesting aspect of the case is that Ron and Toto have to prove that Torage isn’t a psychic and that he murdered the victim with his own hands. The fact that the duo have to prove that Torage is a quack is the key element to this case; the man already admitted he killed him, but the point is proving his method. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting part where the word DEATH upside down became SLEEP. It feels a bit contrived, but hey, as long as they solved it, I’m okay with it. The murder weapon is actually a needle that’s in a marker.

After two episodes, Ron’s weird culprit killing eyes activate again. This time, Toto legit risks his life to stop the situation and he succeeds. However, the fact that the marker he was holding was a normal marker made me sigh with relief. Seeing Ron so shaken up that he almost got Toto killed showed how much those eyes do bother him and why he took a five year break from sleuthing after his expulsion. Not much is known about Ron right now, but I’m sure that he just doesn’t want to be the cause of murders that he has no memories of once again; the fear of him regaining consciousness and seeing Toto dead is understandable. I’m glad that Ron is showing that he does care a lot for Toto. I seriously love that Toto’s kind and confident words were the reason Ron got out of his funk. Toto may be mistreated a lot, but you cannot deny he has a very good heart; that’s why Ron likes him so much.

Other than the case and the RonToto moments, I love the comedic aspects of the episode. From Ron finally getting a TV and spending his nights watching shows to the point that his eyes became red to Ron posing as a Torage fan was hilarious. I love how he does his signature hair flip, but the difference was that he did it and it revealed that his eyes are still red. I love that the signature scene does have its variations and today’s episode showed a hilarious aspect of it. Bless Dr. Mofu for handing him eye drops.

Since Dr. Mofu is a neurosurgeon, I do wonder if she will be a key factor to help Ron control the eyes and to give a solid diagnosis on what the heck is going on with him at those moments. I hope she appears more in the future; she does seem to be an important character with how she’s prominent in the ending. What are your thoughts to this case and episode?

So I recently found out that KRNKS WEB Radio is also posted by Kadokawa Anime on their YouTube channel. I was always listening directly to Onsen website but listening to episodes for free is only for a limited time. If there's anyone interested, you can check the playlist above by Kadokawa Anime. Anime Talk - More on Kamonohashi Ron

Remember that novel of an analysis I did back in July on some anime I'm super-excited for? If not, look here. One thing I realized I completely forgot in all the excitement and the hard work I put into it, is the summary, the most important part! The airdate is now only a few days away, so it's high time I did it, don't you think? There are also some more exciting updates on the OP and ED soundtracks and new cast members. So what are we waiting for? Let's have Jackie drone on some more about the story that she thinks everyone should care about but no one does.

As I said, let's start with the summary.

So, Ron, as he will probably be called by everyone, was a star detective student at BLUE Academy in London, until he was kicked out due to a certain incident. Five years later, Toto, a young police detective who has a lot of motivation for his job, but not a lot of skill, is assigned a new case. He is adviced by a supperior to go seek out an acquointance of his, a former genius detective. Toto does this and this is how he meets Ron and as they work together, they learn that they are a perfect team and continue to solve cases, with the goal of solving the Bloody Field Trip case, the case that got Ron expelled from BLUE Academy. The genres, as listed on livechart.me are Detective and Mystery.

I hope I managed to make it sound as interesting as I think it is.

Let's move on to the opening and ending soundtracks.

As mentioned in my previous post, the OP is going to be done by UNISON SQUARE GARDEN. The song is called Ikenai Fool Logic. I just listened to a bit of it, and it sounds good.

The ending soundtrack is Lip-sync by hockrockb. I checked them out on YouTube. It seems like they are more of a pop-group, but I liked what I heard, that one song I checked out. I hope this song is good too.

When I posted back in July, we knew the voice actors of Toto, Ron, Spitz and Amamiya. Now two more characters and voice actors have been added to the list.

The first one is Usaki Mofu (Mofu Usaki in English). She is going to be voiced by Touyama Nao. Among others, she is currently active in the role of Sasaki Chiho from Hataraku Maou-Sama!! 2nd season. She also played one of the main characters, Mogami Asahi, in the anime Kami Kusu☆Idol which aired last year and which I also made a post on here about. Based on these characters alone, I'm not too worried (at the moment).

The second role is Kawasemi Omito, surprisingly, he is played by someone who's name I knew immediately. The voice actor is Fukuyama Jun. He has had quite a few big roles in his long career, including Okumura Yukio from Ao no Exorcist (Blue Exorcist), Kazuma in Noragami and Korosensei from Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Assassination Classroom), among so many more that I had to pull myself together to not list them all. I admit, I like his work. He has skill, and if the roles I have listed are no indication, I think he can pull off Kawasemi's seriousness while making him seem just as rediculous as I think he is. I will actually be looking much forward to this.

I just watched the 2nd preview of the show. If you are curious, here is the link. I like the animation. I think they caught the expressions really well. I wasn't sure about Ron's voice at first, but I think it might turn out to be a good fit for him after all. But they have a lot of the pictures from the manga in the shots they show, so at this point, it seems promising, very promising.

The airdate is October 2. 2023 at 22:30 (JST). I hope I have time to write something on here about my thoughts on the first episode.
