Genuinely, doing things "half-assed" or for a short period of time is generally better than never having done it in the first place.

Writing one sentence is better than none. A minute of brushing your teeth is better than zero minutes. Answering two questions for a homework assignment is better than answering none.

The overwhelming mountain of things can be done peacemeal. You do not have to do it all at once. It is okay to take life in whatever amount you can. The point is to allow yourself the grace to be.

maybe something that makes big top feel different from the other cases is that it really feels like phoenix is just in a bad mood the entire time. He was also in seething in 2-2, but it’s justifiable because Maya is the defendant. In big top, he’s just sick and tired of everything and everyone and he plays it off like it’s just the annoying circus people but then you have that conversation with Franziska where he loses it a bit and you realise he’s still fucked up over edgeworth too

Henry on a date, it is... not going well.

And, well, there’s the very minor detail that she is a she. 

“He was your mate, wasn’t he?” 

“Hm?” Henry asks, shaken from his thoughts by Marguerite’s gentle voice. 

“That Claremont-Díaz boy, I see why you’re not close anymore, he’s a bit... loud.” 

Henry grits his teeth. Loud. A euphemism if he's ever heard one. It’s one thing to be reminded of Alex, he’s reminded of the other man at every turn, but this? He doesn’t think he’s equipped for it. “You must excuse me, I’m not feeling well.” 

It’s not far from the truth. The whole exchange has left him feeling queasy. Is this what he gave Alex up for? To watch as he’s plastered across tabloids with his hands in places Henry is certain Zahra had more than a few choice words for. As anyone who watches Buddy Daddies knows, Rei is a gamer. And we don't just see him tapping away at a controller while arcadey beeps play in the background, we see what he plays all the way back in episode 1, as part of our introduction to what he's like off the clock.

I'm sure that this is a reference to some specific game, and I think I've seen the game in question...but I can't remember the specific title, so I'll just say this looks to be in the same genre as XCOM. You know, squad-based tactical stuff. It's not the kind of game you see referenced often in non-video-game-centric media, and it's also a genre I like more than FPSs or big-name Nintendo properties, so I took notice.

In episode 6, we see him play some Morio Kart while Miri watches.

And we know that Rei has been playing a lot of Morio Kart.

Now, it's possible that Rei simply likes multiple games that are different in almost every way. But the fact that they went out of their way to show Rei playing a very un-kart-racer-like game while establishing how he spends his free time is meant to indicate that he bought this game to play with Miri...and then got really completionist about it.

(I still like the idea of him teaching her to play very kid-unfriendly games, though. Rei can be the best kind of bad influence!)

I've been thinking about the names of gods in the Silt Verses (mostly because I spent the weekend trying to find Hayward's story about thunder again) and I like how you can find consistencies between them.

Licensed 'Corporate' gods sound like mascots, or at least describe the services they provide (Jolly Sweet Crunchtooth, the Petropater, the Saint Electric)

Small, personal gods tend to have first names (Augustus and Babble)

And the older gods, or at least the unlicensed ones, get these really cool descriptions if they get names at all (The Trawlerman, The Many Below, The Watcher in the Wings)

And I personally think it's fun to use those trends to look at how some of these gods have shifted. Like Coiling Speaks used to be bigger, have a temple and followers, until Daggler's dad took it for a personal god so yeah, it's name doesn't fit the convention we've seen.

Which makes me wonder about the Chitterling. That sounds like an old name to me, and I wonder about how they adapted into a fast food franchise. Was it a god of harvest before? Or maybe the slaughter of livestock? Did it's followers shift things over time or did someone come in and rebrand the whole organization overnight?

There is one thing Henry and Philip have been able to talk about in recent years. Henry can’t deny Martha’s influence on his brother, but the hurt is still far too deeply entrenched and he fears that were they to try to unearth more of a relationship the whole farce of their lives would come tumbling down along with it. 

So, Lizzie it is. “How is Gran?” he asks carefully. 

“I wouldn’t know,” Philip says, voice tight. It’s the most subversive response his brother has given in years, and it shocks him to the core. 

“W-What?” 

“The er, the succession rules, they only name Elizabeth as Heir Presumptive, and with Martha pregnant again I wanted to ensure that she would stand to inherit everything, no matter what happened," Philip says, setting down his saucer, "Gran didn’t appreciate the thought, she had hoped we could put this ‘nonsense’ behind us since Mazzy is having a boy.”

His lips make a thin line, but it’s more animated than Henry has seen Philip about anything in years. Despite Henry’s initial reservations Philip had turned out to be an attentive father, as much as someone in Philip’s position can be, that is. He’d taken the pressures from his own childhood and refused to bend Elizabeth to those same whims. And now, he was fighting for his daughter’s right to the line of succession. 

Henry may hate the crown and everything it stands for, but he can recognize what this means for Philip, for Martha, and for little Lizzie.
