Listening to this Moot Court while I write chapter two My Heart, My Body, and My Soul and I was shocked when I heard the girl faint around 14:50. Omg. But she got right back up and continued her argument. What a badass.

These competitions foster critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving while building confidence and valuable networks with legal professionals. hi scribssss 🍬 here againnn i apologise if it feels like i'm using as my personal diary but talking with you like this is so much fun, it feels like i haven't heard lengthy conversations like this in a long time if ever and not to mention your energy is just so bright and fun to be in :'))
but i wanted to share a little update. unfortunately i don't think mystery man will be able to have a taste of these carrot cupcakes because i didn't see him at work today and my family absolutely LOVES these cupcakes so i only have two left that probably will be all gone by the time i go back to work in two days time, but all the more reason to make them again right :D but yess ahh the sugar on top of the muffins were just the smartest move !! i don't know if it will be the same with brown sugar but i used raw sugar as the sprinkle so if you try it with brown sugar let me know how it goes because i'm imagining it to give the muffins a naughty glaze over the top 🤭
that memory really is the sweetest memory !! and that blank feeling before a huge news is dropped onto you is one of the best feelings in the world hahah super belated congrats to you and your baby team for winning thay mooting competition !! i used to hear about it in high school where my school had a mooting team but i had no idea what it was supposed to be until now basically but hearing the way you describe it makes me want to watch one now in real time,,, 🤭
absolutely no need to apologise, love! talk away as much as you like. i am more than happy to listen and i enjoy these conversations, too! you cheer me up as much as i (think) i cheer you up! haha
Tumblr media
i send BIG APPLAUSE to your muffins! for them to be wiped out by your fam in one? two? days means it must really be stellar!!! fams can be the most brutally honest feedback-ers in the cooking arena, so when you see that they finish the food you make - BOOM you know you got a real blockbuster in your hands! maybe it's also a blessing in disguise that mystery man didn't taste this batch. he'll be getting a fresh(er?) batch and this time around maybe you can try making them with nuts 😁
i love that you mentioned raw sugar because i have never seen them before 😂 brown sugar, i have heard (google said they're the same as turbinado? the latter being a uk term? is this right?) of. muscovado sugar, i know and love. i always assumed muscovado was the rawest sugar could go, but apparently it isn't the same as raw sugar! so i went down the rabbithole tryna figure out what raw sugar is and learned from here. also able to confirm that i DEFINITELY have not seen raw sugar yet in my life 😅 i think maybe i'll use a mix of brown and white? the white may give it the crisp, and the brown a caramel-y glaze when it melts? 🤔 i'll let you know when i find out! hahaha
thank you! it is a heartwarming memory. one i'll keep pinned to my soul forever 💓 you had moot court in high school? you guys so advanced!!! what were your moot topics? high school debate teams, yeah, definitely heard. but moot court - WHOAH! there are yt vids on moot court! the world championships of that tourney our baby team joined are livestreamed and the video saved. i can't find the full championship round for any of the years, but this is pretty much what goes on. two people from each team grilled by a panel and having to defend their "client" like that. you appreciate it so much more if you know the problem (compromis) and understand the law behind it.
aaaaaaa i'm rambling now. haha all this moot court talk has made me miss this kind of extremely detailed, prepared, and high brow appellate advocacy. ❤️‍🩹 thank you for reminding me of it tonight. ❤️

I think that Alicent drilled Aemond on courting when he was young.
She teaches him about love and care and that a husband should not tolerate his wife, he should cherish her. Aemond is perceptive enough to see the way his father waves off his mother’s concern. The sight of her, the only one to defend him after losing his eye is one that will stick with his for the rest of his life. He promises her that when the time comes and she chooses a match for him, he will be a faithful and loving husband as the Gods (and his mother) intends.
When it happens and you are named his betrothed you’re....unsettled.
Not because of his eye. Gods no, you think its beautiful and captivating just like the rest of him. What worries you is that your soon-to-be-husband is...robotic.
He bows his head and kisses your hand upon introduction. Calls you “my lady” accompanies you to court and walks through the garden, but its all too rehearsed and empty.
Each move of his hand and word from his mouth sounds as if it has been practice several times over with no emotion behind it. There’s no care within them, only precision. You beleive he’s bored of you. A man of his status has no desire for a wife, only bitter obligation.
But that isn’t right.
The truth isn’t that Aemond is cruel or cold to you. He’s inexperienced.
He is the king’s son, but he hides a vicious scar on his face that ladies of the court whisper when they think he cannot hear them. He knows more of swordsmanship and philosophy than he could ever dream to know about women.
So when you curtsy and call him “lord husband” he goes silent. He doesn’t know how to respond to you, eyes grazing over his face without fear or disgust but instead curiosity. He falls back on the lessons he had with his mother, of how a man should address a woman and where his hand should lay on your waist never too high and never too low so as to not draw foul rumors to your name.
All he can hope is that some day he may address you properly without feeling like his mouth is full of cotton and his hands will cease to shake.

thinking about Andrew getting cute aggression and just kinda squishing Neil or kissing him or something when he's actually fighting against the urge to squeeze his head so hard it pops, he deals with cute aggression so badly, like his hands itch to fold his boyfriend in half and rub his palms over every freckle and every mole and every scar, bite him and chew on his cheek or pull his hair but he just settles for kissing him instead with a straight face as if he isn't fighting for his life against all these foreign emotions bubbling inside him

like, i've tried expressing this to (health) professionals before, but it's true that, if you're participating in the criminal justice system, you aren't "allowed" to be mentally ill. that goes for defendants especially. like, obviously, you are, kinda, in a clinical sense (as long as it's in the bounds of what they can deem sympathetic, or treat, or imprison, or defend, or impeach, whatever the fuck else), but you're... not... supposed to have symptoms of it, if you catch my drift? im bouncing off of joy's point here. it goes for interrogation, and it goes for the stand.
you're not allowed to be anxious; you're not allowed to be fidgety; you're not allowed to be anything. and god forbid you display symptoms of something worse than anxiety, right? (quote-unquote worse.)
i come from a family of very fidgety people. but, like-- fidgeting like that is very often seen as a sign of untrustworthiness. and you're not supposed to bring anything up to the stand with you other than your notes and anything meant to assist in presenting your evidence, as allowed by policy and law (depending on where you are, etc etc etc WHATEV).
im the kind of person who has to prepare to be on the stand to testify about scientific principles. if im an expert witness, my opinion is exclusionary, and i have exculpatory evidence, but the jury deems me untrustworthy because of my body language, my entire testimony is worthless. extrapolate this to the defendant. you've already been deemed guilty during interrogation because of your body language (because you're fidgety and anxious, and that was enough to push it further). if that continues on the stand, there are absolutely deleterious effects.
like, im on the stand for the sake of science. my aunt, my stepdad-- they're not on the stand for science, they're up there to defend themselves.
it's a pileup of really small social stigmas from people who think they've cracked a code on how people are. but most "body language analysis" is really just kind of bullshit. a lot of the behavioral analysis stuff they use is very "yeah, kinda, but no, because you're making a super broad generalization and applying it incorrectly," and then they stick their fingers in their ears and do something counterproductive that leads to further recidivism. but WHATEVER, WHAT DO I KNOW, I DIDN'T TAKE PSYCH.

You stans always act like Feyre is some goddess. What did she do for the night court?!
I'm not acting like anything. Holy mother goddess Feyre did more for the world than Jesus and she is flawless in every single way. Do you know who she is? Do you know of her power?! Never disrespect her.
defending the rainbow when no-one else would
worked to convince the queens of how Prythian and the humans were worthy of being saved
she pretty much gave rhys a reason to live just through her own continued existence
her art therapy classes and general interactions with the citizens of Velaris
Confronted the ouroborus to win them an incredibly important ally in the final battle
decimated the spring court so that Hybern couldn’t use it as a base
Reconstructed the entire fucking cauldron
is an all around badass and incredibly compassionate individual
Quite literally saved the high lord of the night court after he was kidnapped and strung up by Hybern invaders.
She put herself at risk saving the entire IC in Hybern when him and Tamlin ambushed them, she made sure they could make it home and that the NC would still have leaders after this.
Broke the curse that held all of Prythian hostage with her dying breath despite being in excruciating pain and suffering as her bones were broken and her blood was boiling beneath her skin.
She's been doing vast amounts of post war work in Velaris and the night court, collaborating on treaties, developing community outreach programs, redoing NC budgets, guaranteeing housing to people left homeless after the attack.
She's just the queen of the entire world??
Just take a minute to admire this queen and get yourself back on track babe.
