It's funny how certain religious people act like accepting LGBTQ rights will lead to paedophilia being normalized when they've already let that shit slide for centuries.
Then again, what else do you expect from people who value religion over the rights of children?
Don't let them trick you into thinking they care.

i was today years old when i found out that christopher columbus is a holy figure in mormonism and his “discovery” of the new world was apparently prophesied and necessary in order to save the native americans from their “wicked practices”.
Tumblr media
respectfully, this is the craziest fucking thing I have read in my entire life.
Tumblr media
everything i learn about mormonism i learn against my will.

Watching the NYT cover the genocide rolling out every hot button issue and hoping it sways opinion against Palestine
NYT: Palestinians hate LGBTQ
NYT: Palestinians Beat their Wives
NYT: Palestinians don't want girls in school
NYT: Palestinians don't want women wearing make-up
NYT: Palestinians force women to wear veils
NYT: Palestinians use propaganda
NYT: Palestinians make children work
Guess what, NYT? Ultra Conservative groups in the US do all this, too. Where's your breaking coverage on their lives?

Having a lot of thoughts this m*thers day.
I HATE the way the mormon church automatically assigns m*therhood to all girls/women/afabs.
M*ther's Day at church always looked like making ALL the girls and women 12 and older (literal children) stand up while a member of the bishopric/branch presidency placated them with meaningless missives of gratitude and about how being a m*m is the most divine role a woman can hold (🤮🤢) while the young men passed out a cheap little gift to every single women standing.
I thought this tradition wouldn't exist in the singles ward. I was wrong. Same shit again. It was around then (18/19) I realized how gross this felt to me.
I don't want to be a m*ther. EVER. But I didn't even realize I had the choice to opt out of parenthood until I was a full blown adult (fortunately before I had any children) I was literally groomed for m*therhood by the church.
Young women's lessons and activities spent planning out children's names, making baby quilts for our future children (ma'am I am 12 years old. I AM children.) And learning parenting tips and how to be a good stay at home wife/m*ther.
I have such a difficult relationship with m*therhood and the mormon church is the cause for a LOT of it. I've been out of the church for many years now and I am still unpacking and unlearning.
But, damn this time of the year is hard for me.

Hey ex-fundamentalists, is it true fundamentalists think babies are capable of sin? Not original sin but like a two year old throwing a tantrum, would they be violating the fifth commandment?
I grew up Mormon and they like to scaremonger about other religions so I basically just assume that anything they said about other religions was false to some degree or another but someone said something that implied that fundamentalists do actually think that? And now I'm curious and I need to know.
(For comparison, Mormons believe that people are not capable of sin until they are eight years old specifically.)

Children don't need religion to develop good morals. I'd argue that certain religions get in the way of that because they encourage you to do things because a deity approves and it will lead to you having a good afterlife or whatever. And I don't know about you but I find that to be self-serving.
Not to mention, the fact that religion can advocate for immoral things.
Let's just teach children to be good just because.

the way christian ministers will package “being attracted to underaged girls as a grown-ass man” along with things like “having a sex/porn addiction”doesn’t sit right with me.
they’re not even remotely comparable.
part of me honestly thinks they do it as a form of projection. they assume everyone who’s ever struggled with “porn consumption” has felt attraction to fucking preteens— like they do.

I've got 10 problems and conservative men not being able to get a girlfriend is 98 of them
1.). No birth control (so we can't decide to have children)
2.) No abortions (so we can't leave abusive relationships)
3.) No divorces (see #2)
4.) Only traditional values are relevant (except when it comes to fellatio -- God supports that)
5.) Having more than one sex partner is a sin (so we don't find out how bad they are in bed)
6.) Women must be virgins when they marry (see #5)
7.) Women must do whatever the book the men wrote says
8.) Men don't have to do anything the bible says unless they want to
9.) No day care centers, women's shelters, food programs, minimum wage (so we can't support children without a man's paycheck)
10.) Force women to have babies until she drops dead. Rinse and repeat with new wife.

Me, watching 3 out of 6 kids in my family come out as queer/trans/nonbinary after my conservative mormon parents indoctrinated and homeschooled us for 18 years to "protect us from the dangerous influences of the world."
