Honestly, Othercide's a really lovely game, I got it for a steal on sale but it's been nice.
I got to the third era on my 4th recollection, well 2 I got owned by Surgeon, and the 3rd was just my choice after clearing Priest.
Really looking forward to unlocking the last daughter.
Doesn't help after writing stuff surrounding a 'red witch' and 'daughters of red' to have a game just go. Here's a red mother and her daughters, I was like wtf I got to check this out, what a recommendation by @codaynamics
Worth it.

Othercide is Dark Souls
Now, the term has been used WAY too much, so, what exactly do I mean?
Hopelessness
Punishingly hard, but fair gameplay.
Die and try again built into the game.
Auto-save after everything, so no save scumming.
The actual gameplay is a turn-based tactical game.  Instead of having our turn and the enemy’s turn, each character has their own turn displayed on a timeline à la Final Fantasy X, and manipulation of that timeline is a core mechanic.  The timeline shows up to 100, which covers all normal circumstances, though if you use an Initiative Damage skill, you can knock characters off the visible timeline. Each of your characters has 100 AP.  If you use 50 or less, you get bumped back to 50 on the timeline.  If you use 1 AP more, or more, you get bumped back to 100 on the timeline.  This is referred to as Burst.
You start by playing as Mother, a woman gifted immortality to fight back against the Others from beyond the Veil.  She is ridiculously powerful, but somehow fails to stop The Child, (whom she explicitly calls The Chosen One), from being corrupted, and the corrupted Child has the power to destroy the veil.  She sacrifices her mortal body to send her power back in time to you.  You use Vitae, which is literally and figuratively her blood to create Daughters, whom you use to fight.
You start off being able to choose from 3 classes, Bladedancer, (two-handed sword + dodge), Shieldbearer, (Short Spear + Shield), and Soulsinger, (twin pistols).  On Germination, each Daughter is given a randomized appearance, and a random name, (which you can change to whatever you want, or generate a new random name for her).
In the default difficulty, now called Nightmare, there is only one way to heal a daughter, by sacrificing another or equal or  greater level.  You increase your health and maximum health by leveling up, but you don’t heal.
What happens if you lose all of your daughters?  You can start a new gameplay with bonuses, and you will likely be doing this A LOT.
The game added a Dream difficulty, that heals each Daughter 50%hp per day, and you start with a single resurrection token, (rather than 0 on Nightmare).
You can resurrect your daughters, but it’s hard to do and requires sacrifice.
There are also a number of Interrupt abilities that don’t take AP.  No, they take HP, but they are worth it.  Again, sacrifice.  One of the Shieldbearer’s abilities, Blacksmith’s... something, gives her like 300% armour, (at least on a low-level character), which is enough to tank most regular enemies, taking 0 damage.
One of my Daughters even got the Arrogant ability from taking 0 damage enough, that reduces her XP gain by 5%, but increases her... damage?.. by 10%.  Why does it reduce her XP, because taking no damage so many times has made her arrogant, and refuses to learn.
The Daughters gain traits based on how they fight, which cannot be dropped or ignored.  You can pick a skill to learn when they level up, (though, not every level), and upgrades, “Memories” for said skills.  Each of the memories unlocks a piece of Mother’s story, as you piece together what’s happening.
I am so glad I bought this game.  It’s a real treasure.  At least for those who love punishingly hard but fair video games.  You can view an enemy’s movement range, and all of the abilities, and you will likely need to.  If you fuck up your distance estimation, you will take damage, which again, DOES NOT HEAL.

Othercide PC Download: What to expect!
The horror-themed actioned packed tactical RPG is finally out! Othercide (published by Focus Home interactive media, and running on Unity game engine) is the story of a powerful Mother warrior that spread her essence out to her daughters, who (through you) protect the veil from the deadly creatures called the suffering.
Othercide is a turn-based game tactical, and what determines which character is going up next to fight is dependent on the character’s stats.  Using a dynamic timeline system and unique set of skills, you can interrupt, act, and react to an enemy’s attack ahead on the timeline. Othercide’s protagonists are
Blade Master: This character has the ability to reap through a melee with one fierce strike.
The shield-bearer: is also a character armed with a long shield, and spear, and one blow delays your enemy’s turn, giving you the precious advantage of time.
We would also like to know what you think of the game.
Opponents
The Tangler is a ferocious enemy that attacks the daughters. Armed with numerous suckers, the Tangler looks like a parasite that would suck the life out of the daughters.
The reaper has strong arms and muscles, and sharp claws to rip through the daughters. The red feelers floating around the reaper’s body adds to its deadly and ferocious look.
Othercide’s world is dark and single-colored (supporting the horror theme). Different shades of black and grey and flashes of bright red give the game world variety. This color combination is not new to the game world, but the exceptionally tall Opponents are what is worth looking out for.  An interesting feature in Othercide is the permadeath.  Daughters don’t have the ability to heal, so you have to make tough decisions of sacrificing daughters to save the others, all this in the brutal world of limited resources to brace through. a feature called permadeath (permanent death).

The Veil has been broken. The Others grow more stronger from the Suffering ...
However, two young men appear in the midst of a battlefield.  Who do they belong to? Are they ... Helping me? They don’t appear to be like the Others.
But more similar to my Daughters. Sons, perhaps? Whoever these two are, I am blessed to have their aid! And I will forever be in their debt by giving them my strength.
Together, we will defeat Suffering once and for all. And put and end to this for good. - The Red Mother

The Crosszeria Twins have entered the Inner Void! I am still not gonna get over Othercide. It’s a very unique hellish atmospheric game I have been waiting for all of my life after my disappointment with Diablo III.
For those who are new about Othercide aesthetics: The color tones of that game consists of grey, black and white. The only color visible is red and a little bit of yellow from the eyes.  The Daughters in the game have red scarves that indicates a health bar and will grey out whenever their health will drop. The White weapons act like memory fragments taking form from the Mother’s past, hence why the weapons also have shards floating about. The eclipse on the background symbolizes the split between the Veil and the Others joining together to create a distorted realm of nightmarish creatures and humanity destroyed.

Othercide-Slash to Survive
A smart strategy game with chilling visuals and abominations requires a brave heart to play it. Othercide is one such game with spine-chilling visuals and intelligent moves to conquer the end. The background music is a heavy metal soundtrack that makes it a complete package to add to the horror. But the storyline has a certain emotional tinge in it. It is about making sacrifices for the right choice and showing benevolence to traumatized people. But most of all, the story is about the courage of showing resilience after a failure.
The games start with you entering a world that is on the verge of catastrophe. A plague is already infesting some hypothetical city, but now some ghoulish creatures known as Others are troubling the people. The city has become the zone of an apocalyptic event that has split through time and space called ‘Dark Corner.’ Red Mother is the main protagonist who leads her army of Daughters to fight a battle against the Others, the devil-like creatures. Your character will have to control the army led by Red Mother. The Daughters have quite an uncanny look with white-hair and wide-eyes. From the starting of the game, a mystery will create around it that will compel you to reveal all the dark secrets and reach the end.

With each level, you will earn shards to unlock ‘remembrances.’ A stage might come when all your Daughters die. You will have to collect the Daughters again or start from the beginning with a new Daughters collection. But it is not like you have to start from zero. The game is designed as such that it will help you mend every fault. ‘’Memories’’ is an ability bonus that you can apply to your Daughters to improve their attacks. But unlike ‘’remembrances’’, ‘’memories’’ don’t switch from one recollection to next. Try to reach new checkpoints to unlock more buffs and Remembrances so your Daughters can start a new run within subsequent levels.
An amazing touch of sacrifice is added to the Othercide. Once a Daughter loses health, she won’t regain the powers. You have to renounce another Daughter who is more robust to heal the injured one. Only a Resurrection Token can bring the deceased Daughter. There is a much more beneficial purpose behind the concept of sacrifice apart from healing the Daughter. As Daughters progress through each battle, they earn some traits, and once sacrificed, some characteristics pass on to the injured one. Beware! Not all traits are positive, some are negative, and that might pass too. So keep a check on the passing traits. Sacrifices will eventually make your team stronger as the passing attributes will stay permanently into the Daughter.
Gaining all the bonus rewards is very important for surviving the bloodlust battles. Your adversaries will go to any extent to harm the Daughters, which you must avoid at any cost. There is a timeline system that tracks the turn order of your Daughters and the monsters. You must know that there is a limited amount of action points for each of the Daughter. So combat becomes more challenging as you have to exhibit controlled and burst actions that make you attack sooner and reach the end of the timeline. Although burst actions are quite risky, they leave no stone unturned in killing your enemies. You must be careful while choosing the Daughter for the battles.
The three main classes that you can select for your Daughters are
The Blademaster-specializes in melee combat
The Shieldbearer-can bear massive attacks
The Soulsinger not only shoots enemies but protect her associates too
You must thoroughly circumspect the outcome before choosing the abilities for your Daughters. Once chosen, you can’t take up any other option for that Daughter. These abilities will help you in every possible way to approach combat smartly. You will encounter that the bosses in Othercide exhibit deadly attacks, high-level combat moves that might lead your Daughters to the cemetery. Every new boss will be more challenging, but with time, your Daughters will get more training and remembrances to boost their power.
Overall the four main objectives of your army are
To hunt all the enemies
To sabotage a specific adversary
To rescue the unit
To survive until you find the escape route
These four objectives might feel repetitive with the same maps, locations, and dialogues that might make your mission exhausting. You must pay keen attention to the battle preparation menu ‘’codex’’ to give you detailed information about the Bosses. It narrows down every move and behavior of the boss, but only after you fight your first battle. Also, it provides information about every opponent as you come across them. The entire background story of Othercide from Mother to the child to Others is present in the codex. But you will only get to know them as you progress through the game. Codex will seem like a fantasy novel and will steal your attention towards itself.
Apart from the combats, characters, and missions, you will fall in love with the theme and tale that do not lose its charm till the end. The horrific black background of the game fits perfectly with the visuals and music. This outstanding tactical game will give you the feel of a one-man army. All the deadly battles, horrific visuals, and captivating storylines will impart more challenges to your gaming. Othercide is one such rewarding combat that you would like to fight again.
Interesting Points
Timeline system allows you to improve your mastery
Visuals are inventive and chilling
Each combat brings you an inch towards perfection
Every winning move will reward you with bonus points
The storyline is quite intriguing and will keep you at the edge till the end.
Boring Points
Repetitive dialogues, instructions, and missions
Faulty technical issues especially on PS4
Sometimes the game crash in between
Progress might get lost
Files in the codex get erased along with the story

Kicking it off with a question from Twitter!
Copper_wasp: I also draw! The last thing I drew was a portrait of The Mother from a game that came out recently called "Othercide."
Avianbrother: I'm actually in school for an art degree! The last thing I drew was a comic adaptation of Ocean Vuong's poem "Seventh Circle of Earth"
Keeroo: I draw a bit, just starting to get into it. A few days ago I finished a drawing of my OC and Kylo Ren in the middle of a lightsaber fight, but I haven't posted it yet.
Harlot-of-oblivion: I love to draw fairies and flowers even thought I'm horrible at it 😂
Vinumxvitae: I draw but it's mostly OC stuff. The last thing I drew was two of my own characters
BlueRoseBlaze: I’m actually currently in art school however I applied as a writer bc fan art isn’t my strongest. My last big drawing was for jim Henson’s the Dark Crystal. Took 3 months
InugamiMochi: Yes! Though I'm terrible, the last thing I've drawn that isn't chemistry/drug related is V tying up an OC and a sunset with Bob Ross

Othercide: How to Resurrect Your Characters
Othercide is a gritty and incredibly dark type of game, but its rough-lite strategy is fantastic. The developer, “Lightbulb Crew,” boosted the game with incredible difficulty that will make the players scratch their heads. In Othercide, a mother orders her daughters to fight with some creatures named as “Others.” There are several levels available in the game. These are known as “Era.” You have to find your way through some battles and locate the Boss of every Era.
Tumblr media
In a game like Othercide, there’s a huge possibility of failing most of the time. You have to save your daughters that got lost. Resurrecting a daughter is not an easy process in Othercide. To heal one unit, it demands the sacrifice of another. Bringing your daughter back to life comes at a cost, which is “Resurrection Tokens.” In Othercide, there are two ways to collect it; earning the Remembrance perks and Rescue missions.
Rescue Missions
These missions are considered as one of the most difficult missions in Othercide. Before gearing up to tackle fallen daughters, you need to be prepared. In the missions, enemies are completely ruthless. Protecting your daughters and Bright Soul together is not an easy task for everyone. If you successfully manage to bring Bright Soul to the evacuation point and then escape, you will be offered two different options as your reward. The first one is to free the Bright Soul and get 400 vitae or recruiting a new daughter.
Remembrances
These following perks are offered to you almost every fourth day when you finish an era. However, if you successfully survive in all the chapters and encounter all five bosses, you will receive one extra resurrection token for every earned remembrance.
Using Resurrection Tokens
Collecting the tokens is not the finish line. You should also know where and how to use these tokens to bring back your daughters. First, open the Inner Void section from the menu and move to Cemetery. In the following section, you can find all the lost daughters from campaigns and battles. The cemetery has a limit and can only hold up to 32 of the past daughters.
Pick the one you want to bring back and use your token on her. After using the token, she will be restored, including her traits, skills, and levels. However, she will lose all her memory and mods that she had before death.
Othercide is packed with several challenges. No matter how hard you try in the game, you can never make through without losing your daughters. However, you can bring your daughters back to life.
