Ponies changing their name on marriage is the most confusing thing to me because like. Not all ponies have clear surnames, and its entirely arbitrary. Later on we'll learn that Mrs. Cake, Pinkie's boss, who's full name is Cup Cake, changed her name when she married Carrot Cake. But like, her name wasn't Cup [something] before she married him, it was like, Chiffon Swirl or some shit. She changed her entire damn name at marriage, why the fuck. What happens if Rarity and AJ marry

Rarity's new name shall be Apple Crisp as ordained by the apple elders

Carrot Cake comes from a long line of Bakers. Wanting to see the world, he entered the Baking Contest Circuit to see Equestria and learn more styles. He was also pretty successful. It was during this time that he met Chiffon Swirl and it was love at first sight. He didn't act on it right away, wanting to learn more about her. Eventually the two fell in love and moved to Ponyville to open Sugar Cube Corner. Since then, they run a successful bakery with two twins and a Pinkie Pie.

Incidentally, when and why did pony culture change to the extent that seemingly all individuals have given names and family names, eg Sunny Starscout, Izzy Moonbow?

Starscout or Moonbow would make sense as individual pony names of the classical period, as would Sunny, but Izzy (which is usually short for Isabel or one of its variants) stands out as unusual.

Earth ponies did have a tradition of family names but it wasn’t standardised - the Apple family all had apple-themed names, many of which contained the word apple, but not all (eg Big Macintosh, Braeburn), while the Pie family (who seemed to be outside the mainstream of society) had a surname and human-ish given names such as Pinkamena and Maude. There was the Cake family too, also Earth ponies, but they had given names like Carrot and Pumpkin. Mrs Cake appears to have changed her whole name upon marriage, going from Chiffon Swirl to Cup Cake, despite the fact Chiffon Cake would be a perfectly cromulent name and fit the family pattern.

Another curious thing, given the schism that apparently took place between Earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns at some point, is that ponies of all three tribes appear to have similar name structures in the “new generation” period rather than having gone separate ways.

Best MLP Couples

This is heavily biased and will only include canon couples from the tv show, not the comics or Equestria Girls, or parents of main characters, they will get there own list. Also almost none of these couples are bad despite what I rank them and truthfully half of these tied for first.

#10: Fancy Pants and Fleur de Lis

I see nothing truly wrong with these two ponies, the reason they are so low is Fancy Pants doesn’t really acknowledge his special somepony/wife. Making me feel that this relationship might not be 100% the heathiest, however they have such a limited appearance that I could be wrong and they might be in a mutually loving relationship.

#9: Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich

I think they’re fine, and there child Li'l Cheese is adorable, however before the final I never got romantic vibes off of these two, just friendship, but they seem happily married now so they’re ok in my books.

#8: Clear Sky and Quibble Pants

They are so cute, and I loved this episode for taking on the hard topic of divorce (or maybe parental death in which Applejack’s parents were the first, but I personally think it was divorce.), your parent finding someone new, and that someone new trying to bond with the kid. We don’t see to much of these two as a couple this episode as its more about the future step daughter and her relationship with Quibble Pants, but the part we do see they so clearly care about each other and make each other happy and he thinks she’s the best mare in the world(and he’s met Daring Do.)

#7: Maud Pie and Mudbriar

Just like Pinkie, I didn’t like Mudbriar at first, I didn’t think Maud needed a boyfriend, but he grew on me and he clearly loves Maud and they make each other whole in a way I didn’t know was needed. (That and the innuendos in later episodes, that was unexpected and it made me laugh.)

#6: Aunt Holiday and Auntie Lofty

When I first heard in the non-canon novel that Scootaloo stays with her aunts, and that the aunts may not be sisters I was over joyed, but I never thought it would go any further, than they appeared in the comics, and than in an episode dedicated to finally showing viewers Scootaloo’s living situation we met the two parental couples in her live, her horrible parents and her amazing gay aunts. These two don’t get much screen time, but there love is seem when they joke with each other and at the end when they are supporting each other and are hoof-in-hoof, I love them and my Gay heart wants to put them on top but there are more who deserve that spot.

#5: Mr. Carrot Cake and Mrs. Chiffon Cake

We don’t see much of these two doing romantic things, but that’s because they are almost always seen lovingly raising there geneticly impossible kids together. They are always seen by the others side and they always seem to know what the other is thinking. The reason they aren’t on the parents list is because Pumpkin and Pound aren’t main character, in fact they have no lines.

#4: Lyra Heartstrings and Sweetie Drops (BonBon)

MY BISEXUAL HEART!!! When they were given a truly proper introduction in Slice of Life I found that best friend didn’t fit what they were saying, they acted as a married couple, and as the show continued that was what they would become. They went from often being seen together, to the slice of life, to always being seen each other, to there dream selves being physically connected, to unmistakably being on several dates, to there engagement, to the little wedding photo, and than in the final being an old lesbian couple. They are the second of two confirmed LGBT couples on the main show and I wish they could be higher.

#3: Cranky Doodle Donkey and Matilda

You couldn’t watch A Friend in Deed or Slice of Life without routing for these two loving Donkeys in the end. HE SPENT HALF HIS LIFE TRAVELING THE WORLD LOOKING FOR HER AND SHE WAS STILL SINGLE PRACTICALLY WAITING FOR HIM AND SLICE OF LIFE IS JUST SO GOOD!!!!!!

#2: Big McIntosh and Sugar Belle

I used to ship Big Mac with Cheerilee, so when Sugar Belle turned into a love interest for Mac I was upset, but as there relationship continued, and Mac started opening up in ways only Drag had done before, I realized how sweet these two are together and there love is apparent from the very beginning, there future son Big Sugar is almost as cute as Li’l Cheese. There is only one other couple that outshines these two and if you haven’t guessed yet you haven’t watched My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

#1: Princess Cadance and Shining Armor

There love has saved the world at least three times, once from the Changlings, a second time when Cadance collapsed it was Shining Armor’s love that gave her the strength to redo her shield spell, giving Twilight more time(He than later flung her at the crystal heart but that’s less love and more teamwork.) And than there love made Fluffy Heart and she also saved the Crystal Empire. There love for each other shone through even when they weren’t in scenes together and my favourite moment of them is when they supported each other as Cadance tried to keep the Crystal Empire safe from Sombra.

Super, Happy Monday, minna-san! I hope everyone had a good weekend. The weather is getting chilly lately so keep yourselves warm. With that said, let’s on with this week’s news. We have loads to cover. First, last week’s chapter was ferocious! We last see poor Luffy lying in utter, bloody defeat from Kaido’s attack. Law was about to rescue him, but Hawking shot with him a sea stone nail bullet and rendered him helpless to use his devil fruit power. Kaido then noticed Luffy glaring at him even though he was unconscious. He then ordered his goons to lock him in jail. Just as they were about to, Luffy released his haki and knocked out the goons. Kaido was surprised to know he also has it. He then left to continue to his beer time. Back in the forest, Law was able to escape barely with his injury, and worries for his crew. However, he doesn’t want to leave Luffy. Back in Leftover Town, Kinemon went to check on his wife, O-Tsuru. She was tending to the poor villagers that were injured from Shuntenmaro’s attack. Back in the ruins, everyone was safe from Kaido’s attack. They all fell down from a deep hole thanks to Shino’s mature-mature fruit that has the ability to make anything rot. O-Kiku was then ready to let the gang know about the situation. Back at shore, it looks like Duke and his followers found Tama. Yay! She’s gonna be saved. So back in town, everyone was receiving news about Luffy’s revolt against Kaido. Franky, Ussop, and Robin read the newspaper and made hilarious “WHA?!” panic face. Zoro also got the wind of his situation while he was eating his onigiri on a boat. The next day at Rabbit Bowl, Kaido’s goons are all abusing the poor villagers working them to death and feeding them poisoned food from their devil fruit factory. At the end, the goons brought Luffy with his head bandaged all over. As he was being escorted to jail, someone shot a fish bone into one of goons. We finally see a familiar face we haven’t seen in a while, Eustass Kid. He looked all beat up. So the goons threw Luffy in jail as both swear that they will get their payback against Kaido. Suddenly, a masked lady shows up before them. Who is this stranger? How will the plan proceed? Act I ends. Let’s see how act II goes. Next, this past weekend’s episode was joyful, but still not out of the woods. We start off with Sanji pushing the cake onto Bege’s ship, and Chiffon finally reunites with her beloved family. However, Oven wasn’t gonna let them have their celebration as he heats up the ocean to melt the ship. Just as they were about to perish from the heat, Mr. Pound came to the rescues and hit Oven from behind. He then see Chiffon from a distance as he feels guilt for not being there for her and Lola during the times Big Mom abused back then. Even felt regret for not being able to hold them when Big Mom turned him away as she birth them. As his final moment, he congratulates Chiffon on his new family, and Oven killed them. At the end, Luffy returns to Mirror world for round 2 with his fight against Katakuri. Next time, the time has come, Carrot finally transforms into her sulong mode. Will she be sane? Guess we’ll see. Don’t miss it this week! Now on with the goods. Look who came to visit! Yup! Our fellow tower mascot, Tongari-san. Take it away, my friend! What you got for us? Next, all arcades will be stocking this neat Glitter & Glamour Venus figurine of Vivi in her bikini. Get your coins ready. Beat that crane! Next, more bday goods of Zoro are available at all Straw Hat stores, Jump Store, and the tower. They’re selling this Heroes collection buttons of Zoro in 10 designs from the beginning to Dressrosa. They’re also selling this bromide card set, a mini tote bag, an art board, a black tote bag, a long sleeve shirt, hand towel, and a folder. Next, this week, the store will be selling this edible snack that has the wanted poster of the Straw Hats, Ace, Law, and Hancock. Good for gifts to your friends or family. Next, new mochi mochi hamster plush. This time, it’s Ace and Marco. Adorable fellas. It will be released on Feb.9th at Straw Hat stores, and general release will be on Feb.23rd. You can order it online, but if you prefer to buy it in person, then you can head to Animate or Straw Hat stores. Next, stores are also selling this bromide card set of the Wano series. Next week, stores will be selling the second Memorial square badge. The 2nd theme is pride. It will be released on Nov.23rd. Next, new updated for the Kumamoto event. On Nov.30th, Kumamoto prefecture will finally release the first ever statue of Luffy to commemorate the rebuild from the earthquake. Also, next spring, Ginza will have a Tokyo Girls Collection collab goods. More events will be coming later so we’ll keep you updated on it. Moving on, the fashion brand store, #FR2, have an OP collab. They’re selling neat, but pricey goods of Sanji and Smoker that says “NO SMOKING.” They’re selling hoody sweaters, long sleeve shirts, jacket, t-shirts, a cap, long towel, tote bags, a strap, smart phone ring holder, and a sticker set. Not sure if this is some kind of awareness, but if you don’t like smoking, this is a good away to raise awareness. Ha ha ha ha! You can find the store in Harajuku that’s 5 min from Meiji Jingu-mae st. It will only be available until Nov.23rd. No online order. Next, OP game app, Thousand Storm, will have a short event where you can now use Crocodile and Mr.1 from Impel Down version as playable characters. Just win enough points and pass levels, and you’ll receive them. Next, on Jan.25th, they’ll release character albums of the Straw Hats of their solo songs. It’s available at the Straw Hat stores or Avex online. More details will be released later on. Next, here’s the new DVD cover of vol.16 of WCI that has Nami in her party dress. It will be released on Dec.2nd. Last, but not least, here’s the cast celebrating the return of Pudding’s seiyuu, Miyuki-san. She’s finally ready to get back up on her feet to continue her role as Pudidng. She was gone for a bit due to her maternity leave, and of course, she had baby boy. Congrats! We hope he grows up health and happy. Look who’s also there. Katakuri’s seiyuu, Sugita-san. GUA! So rare to see him in person. Phew! I think we covered everything. Well, that’s all we got for now. Flurry Heart hopped impatiently at the train station. Princess Cadance and Shining Armor stood on either side of her. Cadance looked at her, and chuckled.

“Calm down, Flurry Heart,” She said, putting her hoof to the mare’s head and making her stand still.

Flurry giggled. “Sorry, Mom, I’m just so excited! This is the first time the Cakes have visited the Crystal Empire since Starlight and Sunburst got married!”

“We know how exciting it is,” Shining laughed. “But you want to set a good impression for them when they arrive. You may want to settle down.” Flurry’s ears perked at this, and she nodded. She shut her eyes, straightening herself and lifting her head. She opened her eyes again, quite neutral with a spark of joy in them. She unfolded her wings, letting them flare out behind her. She used her magic to adjust the crown on her head, and fix the side of her mane. Cadance nodded at this, fixing herself, and flaring out her own wings alongside Flurry Heart’s. Shining did the same, adjusting his armor to fit more comfortable on his torso.

The sparkle grew brighter in Flurry’s eyes as she heard the whistle of the train. She let a smile grow across her face. The train pulled into the station, stopping and making the Crystal Family back up as the doors opened. Out stepped Mr. and Mrs. Cake, smiling widely.

“Chiffon!” Cadance said, walking over and hugging the blue mare.

Mrs. Cake hugged back gently. “It’s good to see you, Princess Cadance,” she said warmly, a smile crossing her face.

Shining Armor walked over to Mr. Cake, who dipped his head a little. “Welcome back, Carrots.”

Mr. Cake laughed. “You’ll never give that up, will you?”

“Nope,” Shining chuckled. “Wouldn’t do that for the world.”

Flurry Heart looked around curiously, her head falling back to its normal height. “Um… where’s Pumpkin and Pound?”

Just then, Flurry heard the sound of confetti, and was covered in little rainbow-colored pieces of paper. She smiled widely, as somepony tied a red ribbon around her ear, fastening it into a bow.

“Surprise!” Pumpkin and Pound Cake both appeared in front of her, Pound flying down after tying the bow, and Pumpkin teleporting next to him after putting away her tiny party cannon.

Flurry giggled, using her magic to lift the confetti off her. “It’s been such a long time Pumpky, Pound.”

“Too long if you ask me,” Pound spoke up, earning a giggle from Pumpkin Cake.

“I can’t help but agree,” Pumpkin said softly, looking at Flurry with a warm look in her eyes. “We’ve really missed playing with you.”

Pound then perked up, walking over. “Heeey, nice wingspan, girl! Perfect for a princess!”

Flurry spread her wings proudly. “Admire them all you want. I don’t mind at all.”

“Are they soft?” Pumpkin asked, slightly tilting her head.

“Soft as silk, Pumpky,” Flurry giggled. “Wanna prove it?”

Pound lightly touched some of her feathers. “My hooves are barely even touching them, and it feels like I’m petting a cloud! They’re so light, and soft!”

Flurry giggled, lightly blushing. “T-Thank you, Pound,” She did her best not to stutter.

“Alright, enough flirting, Pound Cake,” Mrs. Cake spoke up, eyeing the three ponies. Pound’s face flushed red, and he growled at his mother.

“I-I was not flirting! I was admiring Princess Flurry Heart’s wings and wingspan!”

“Seemed like flirting to me,” Pumpkin mumbled to Flurry, earning a low giggle from her. “Hey, you mind if I touch them?”

“Not at all,” Flurry blushed, turning to the side. “G-Go on ahead. I think you’ll agree with Pound Cake.” Pumpkin smiled, stepping close and gently patting the feathers, causing Flurry’s wing to shudder from the feeling. She’s not as gentle as Pound was… she thought. But I still like it. She smiled.

“I think I do… and I’m not even as gentle as Pound was,” Pumpkin’s eyes were sparkling. “Who would’ve thought it…”

“Pound Cake would’ve,” Shining Armor piped up, earning a laugh from his wife and the Cakes. Pumpkin even managed a giggle.

“I guess you’re right…” She purred, managing to take her hooves off Flurry Heart’s wings. She let her wings fold down on her back with a smile.

“Come on now, everypony,” Princess Cadance spoke up. “Let’s head inside the castle now. We have so much catching up to do.” Each pony nodded in agreement. Mr. and Mrs. Cake went back in the train to grab the few bags they had, with Pumpkin and Pound’s help, and they started off alongside the Crystal Family straight for the castle.
