Scotty: Hey Doc, can you call me a taxi tomorrow at 7am?
Bones: Yeah, sure thing.
[the next morning, at 7am]
*bosun's whistle sounds in Scotty's quarters*
Scotty, answering it: Aye?
Bones, on the other end of the comm: You're a taxi.

"the villain makes the story." mr. scott says this to madi in black sails s3. he means, a story derives its shape and power from how it characterizes its villain.
but "the villain makes the story," at the series' end, could also mean that the villain creates and crafts the story. (the villain could be silver, it could be civilization, it could even be jack)

Fate of the Andromache Slaves
Tumblr media
I’ve read a handful of articles and reviews about the seventh episode of “BLACK SAILS” - (1.07) “VII”.  I was amazed that hardly anyone was willing to discuss the fates of Eme and the other slaves from the slave ship Andromache.  Authors either avoided the topic or brushed it aside with erroneous comments about them being freed by James Flint and the Walrus crew.
The Andromache slaves had helped Flint and his crew overtake that ship and acquire its guns.  Sure, they did it for their benefit, believing that the Walrus crew would free them as a consequence.  Instead, Flint and his crew repaid their help by selling them to Eleanor Guthrie for future credits and subsidies.  Thanks to Mr. Scott’s encouragement, Eleanor had decided to make a deal with the Black Hind crew, who took on the men as indentured servants/sailors who had to work off their debt.  Eleanor managed to scrape up enough money to free Eme and the other five women slaves.  All six of them ended up working at Eleanor’s tavern as barmaids.
I find myself wondering how so many television viewers and critics had failed to miss the true fate of the Andromache slaves.  Were their reactions or lack of reactions some attempt to blind themselves from the Walrus crew’s betrayal of the very slaves who helped them acquire the Andromache’s guns?

"'Tis a cigar, Mr. Spock. 'Tis a tradition to hand out cigars at the birth of a baby. My little niece is two days old. Dannan Stuart, her name is. A heroic name! 'Tis my first time to be an uncle. Though," he said, as if telling a secret, "The baby is verra small... verra small."
Uhura smiled. "She'll get over that, Mr. Scott."
"I still do not understand this object. This cigar." Spock rolled the cigar between his elegant, powerful fingers. The tobacco rustled.
"Be careful, Mr. Spock! Ye should light it, not mash it. Ye'll bruise the tobacco!"
"But this appears to be made of dry leaves," Spock said. "How can one bruise" He raised it, sniffed it, drew it quickly from his nose. "This is tobacco, Mr. Scoot. It contains noxious chemicals.
"Aye, 'tis true," Scott admitted. "But 'tis the tradition, d'ye see?"
Spock regarded the cigar a moment longer. "I believe I understand," he said. "During a time of critical overpopulation, the birth of a child would have required an adult to die. The adults resorted to a sort of lottery to decide who must make way. Your customs... fascinating. Not efficient, but fascinating."
"It wasna quite like that, Mr. Spock-"
Spock handed him the cigar. "I am sure you meant to compliment me, but I should prefer not to participate in your lottery."

Just wanted to point out the fact that Spock doesn't understand the purpose of a celebratory cigar. And the way he quickly makes sense of it in an extremely inaccurate assumption.
guys. I am deceased. Spock in writing is everything.

“McCoy claims that he didn’t think up the Queen of Hearts. Is he sure and if so, why? If I saw Alice and the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland I would instantly start thinking of the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen. If I saw Batman and Robin swinging about, I would immediately think of the Joker and Two-Face. If Kirk told me to clear my head, I would think of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.”

Mr. Scott, on sending books to Madi: "I was determined to leave you something behind, to give you the one thing that no one could ever take away and that would make you strong enough to understand their world, interact with their world, wage war on their world.
...if their identities lie in their stories, I wanted you to know them. So that when we are ready to call them enemies, you would be ready for it." (Black Sails 3x6)
Madi studied the books of "civilization" and became a formidable warrior. Her father prepared her well. But she, like Flint, never fully knew Silver's story. So she was unprepared for that battle--did not even anticipate that battle. And lost the war.
