These Aries Moon days are so fucking annoying. (My natal Moon is in Aries.) All the Capricorn placements ganging up on her…! Like a whole team of Eeyores. This whole year is such a downer for us feisty Ram types. But this time it helps (somewhat) to realize that there are only two more lunar transits through Aries which will feature so much Capricorn raining on the parade - this one and the next one (November). After that, the more positive Aries traits will have an easier time expressing. So, let’s gird our loins (if we have loins) and get through this. Rams never give up! We also need to take every opportunity to cheer on our comrades. Positive feedback and words of encouragement work miracles, if we want.

What’s happening when:

  • Lunar Phase: Gibbous Moon (tweak, adjust, pour more energy into it)
  • Moon/Pisces void of course (from yesterday)
  • Moon enters Aries, 2:45 am MDT
  • Sun/Scorpio inconjunct Chiron Rx/Aries, 3:32 pm MDT
  • Mercury Rx/Libra trine Ceres/Aquarius, 7:31 pm MDT

Looking ahead to Thursday: attitude

(Please note that MDT is six hours behind UT.)

There’s another Opportunity Period today, beginning at 11:40 UT and ending tomorrow at 08:45 UT when the Moon enters Aries. “An excellent time to dig deep and assess concepts,” says Llewellyn. We may have the sense (if not the tangible proof) that we need to make some adjustments to our plans - with a Pisces Moon, conjunct Neptune, “tangible” may not happen. People who rely more on logic are going to be pissed AF, but that’s how it goes sometimes. Meanwhile, Mercury and Venus enter the sign Libra, from opposite ends. This is going to make it very hard to “socially distance;” we want to go out with our family and friends, and have some fun! Just keep in mind that all those Libra feelings are going to run into the brick wall of Capricorn reality - Mercury will spend over a week square Saturn, and Venus will eventually square the whole pack of Cap placements. Don’t do something in the moment that will wreck your forever.

What’s happening when:

  • Lunar Phase: First Quarter Moon (take action, build new structures)
  • Moon/Pisces
  • Lunar Phase: Gibbous Moon (tweak, adjust, pour more energy into it), 19:31 Pisces, 5:47 am MDT
  • Mars Rx/Aries sesquare Vesta/Virgo, 6:07 pm MDT
  • Moon/Pisces void of course, 6:46 pm MDT
  • Transiting Mercury Rx re-enters Libra, 7:33 pm MDT
  • Mercury Rx/Libra semi-sextile Venus/Virgo, 7:37 pm MDT
  • Transiting Venus enters Libra, 7:41 pm MDT
  • Moon enters Aries, 2:45 am MDT (Wednesday)

Looking ahead to Wednesday: reassuring ourselves

(Please note that MDT is six hours behind UT.)

Thursday, November 19, 21:04 UT - transiting Mercury exits post-retrograde shadow, 11:40 Scorpio

We have arrived back at the Libra portion of our program, and again I’m going to cite the book Mercury Retrograde by Chrissie Blaze for her survival tips for Merc Rx in Libra:

  • Don’t enter into any contracts. If you must, have the contract double-checked before you sign it.
  • Visit old friends rather than seeking new ones.
  • Be the peacemaker but don’t compromise yourself to do so. Keep your own life as harmonious as possible.
  • Meditate. Keep yourself balanced by exercising your spiritual as well as your physical self.

Mercury’s function in our charts is to serve as our inner computer program, which we can boil down to:

Input -> Process -> Output

That means we can equate Mercury’s retrograde periods to “debugging,” or to upgrading the software. Something about the ways we learn, think, and communicate needs work. If you think about Merc Rx this way, it’s much easier to deal with! Specifically, in Libra - the Scales - what’s going on is that we have to recalibrate our Mercury processes. In the words of the Cambridge Dictionary online, we have “to make small changes to an instrument so that it measures accurately” or “to change the way you do or think about something.”

It may not seem that Mercury is up to much, during its second stay in the sign of the Balance. There are only two non-lunar aspects. However, the final aspect will be exact for about nine days.

Thursday, October 29, 01:31 UT - Ceres/Aquarius trine Mercury Rx/Libra, 28:55 (28 degrees 55 minutes)

Second of three. If you can think back to September 27, the first time these two were trine, you may get some clarification on whatever issue it raised. Back then, Mercury was direct, and Ceres was retrograde; now they’ve traded places, with Mercury Rx and Ceres direct. Your perspective on some issue is somehow freshened up - you’re giving and receiving verbal support and encouragement, to and from others. The final trine between Mercury and Ceres happens when both not only will be direct, but will also be in water signs. If we’re lucky, what was something we consciously (air) had to seek and give, is now automatically given and received (water).

Placements affected lie between 27:55 and 29:55 of the yang signs Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius..

Sunday, November 1, 19:06 UT - Saturn/Capricorn square Mercury Rx/Libra, 26:15

Second of three, although that is a deceptive way to think about it. This square will remain very close, within a degree, for over a week: between Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 8, to be exact. That time period encompasses the US elections, and I can’t help (as a US citizen) to relate this square to the crappy choices we have to vote for. I would dearly love to be able to vote for Bernie Sanders, or for anybody who shares my left-of-center politics. Unfortunately, for various reasons, the US is stuck with a choice between right-of-center and far-right-of-center candidates. I also hate being forced to vote for the right-of-center person, because the far-right-of-center person is a fucking malignant narcissist, a cheating maniacal sociopathic bully who won’t be happy until he’s killed us all. Anyway, as I keep having to remind myself - sometimes in the real world, none of the choices are good ones. I think that’s been the real message of this particular Mercury Rx. How about you?

Planets/Points affected lie between 25:15 and 27:15 of the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn; and between 10:15 and 12:15 of the mutable signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces.

A quiet day, thank goodness - we all can appreciate that! The Pisces Moon is just sort of wafting along, taking some unusual side trips perhaps (as the Moon will sextile Uranus Rx/Taurus). If you’re tuned in properly, you could get some sudden, practical insights into your problems. It isn’t really an intimate kind of day; we’re just too spaced out and detached to connect with one another. Pity. And Mercury Rx makes such an interesting (timing wise) sextile to Vesta, too. Mercury is about to regress into Libra; what this final aspect may give us (again, if we’re open to it) is some insight into why the way we were “doing” Mercury/Scorpio wasn’t working. Too hyper-fixated on something? Too determined to be pessimistic? One or both of those options is probably at fault. Tomorrow, when Merc ducks back into Libra for a bit, we’ll be able to recalibrate. (Libra = scales.) We may not have a choice but to recalibrate.

What’s happening when:

  • Lunar Phase: First Quarter Moon (take action, build new structures)
  • Moon/Pisces
  •  Sun/Scorpio sesquare Neptune Rx/Pisces, 4:33 am MDT
  • Mercury Rx/Scorpio sextile Vesta/Virgo, 10:16 am MDT
  • Venus/Virgo inconjunct Ceres/Aquarius, 8:10 pm MDT

Looking ahead to Tuesday: transiting Mercury Rx and transiting Venus enter Libra, from opposite sides

Void of Course Moon

Wednesday, October 28, 00:46 UT (Pisces) - 08:45 UT (Aries)

Friday, October 30, 16:12 UT (Aries) - 21:19 UT (Taurus)

Only two! Must be a slow Moon week.

Lunar Phases

Tuesday, October 27, 11:47 UT - Gibbous Moon, 19:31 Pisces

Saturday, October 31, 14:49 UT - Full Moon, 8:38 Taurus

Retrograde/Direct/Etc.

Pre-Rx shadow: nothing right now

Retrograde: Mercury/Scorpio-Libra, Mars/Aries, Chiron/Aries, Uranus/Taurus, Neptune/Pisces

Post-Rx shadow: Ceres/Aquarius, Pallas Athene/Capricorn, Jupiter/Capricorn, Saturn/Capricorn

Ingresses

Wednesday, October 28, 01:33 UT - transiting Mercury retrogresses back into Libra

Wednesday, October 28, 01:41 UT - transiting Venus inters Libra

They are at opposite ends of the sign. Weird, huh?

Et Cetera

We have two long Opportunity Periods this week:

Tuesday, October 27, 11:40 UT - Wednesday, October 28, 08:45 UT. “An excellent time to dig deep and reassess concepts.” (If you don’t mind taking weird Neptunian side trips, you can push the starting point back to Sunday the 25th, at 21:18 UT.)

Saturday, October 31, 14:49 UT - Monday, November 2, 10:00 UT. “An innovative and constructive period, but because Mercury is retrograde, use it on matters begun before October 7.” (That is the day Mercury entered its “Storm,” when it moved slower than 40 minutes of arc per day. If you wish, you could think back all the way to September 23, when Mercury first entered its pre-Rx shadow.)

Otherwise…. It honestly didn’t seem like there is much going on this week. Which could be a welcome respite, frankly. Perhaps everything is going to focus on that wild Hallowe’en Full Moon? Conjunct Uranus? I’ll be sure to post that chart later this week.

19 notes · See All

Continuing through the Aquarius void of course Moon - we have the Sun-Mercury Rx conjunction, sometimes called “Inferior conjunction” or “Cazimi conjunction.” This is a huge mental “reset” day - use all the words for the New Moon lunar phase, and apply them to Mercury situations. As Ms M thinks she wrote earlier, she’s going to start reading all of Steven Forrest’s books in order. (Ms M, a Gemini with Mercury/Gemini sextile Uranus/Leo, has never been the most thorough reader.) It’s okay if you want to wait past that exact moment, for after the Moon enters Pisces - I even recommend it, as the Moon a few hours after entering Pisces, will trine Mercury Rx and the Sun. Definitely gives us better “vibes” about starting something, better luck even, maybe. In fact, if you had trouble launching this month’s New Moon intention while the Moon was in Aquarius - the Moon in Pisces, supporting the Sun, will be an easier time for it. We’ve also got that Pallas Athene-Neptune sextile helping us out - we’re dreaming big, and Pallas Athene gives us the ability to take/make practical, realistic steps to achieve our dreams. If what you want to do still seems foggy, hang in there.

What’s happening when:

  • Lunar Phase: First Quarter Moon (take action, build new structures)
  • Moon/Aquarius void of course (from yesterday)
  • Sun/Scorpio conjunct Mercury Rx/Scorpio (Inferior Conjunction), 12:23 pm MDT
  • Moon enters Pisces, 3:18 pm MDT
  • Pallas Athene/Capricorn sextile Neptune Rx/Pisces, 7:42 pm MDT
  • Sun/Scorpio sesquare Neptune Rx/Pisces, 4:33 am MDT (Monday)

Looking ahead to Monday: a different kind of cleverness

(Please note that MDT is six hours behind UT.)

I actually wrote a note in my planner about doing this last weekend (Oct 17), but there were those damned forest fires nearby and I needed to pack a suitcase just in case. (Turns out the fires moved northward, and we live southeast. Whew.) Anyway, here we go for a somewhat mellower month:

Sunday, November 1 - in the US, fucking awful stupid Daylight Savings Time ends, at 2:00 am local time. At least we get an extra hour of sleep.

Tuesday, November 3, 17:50 UT - transiting Mercury stations direct, 25:50 Libra

Yippee!!

Friday, November 6, 23:14 UT - Scorpio cross-quarter day (the Sun reaches 15 degrees 0 minutes 0 seconds of the sign Scorpio)

Sunday, November 8 - Mercury leaves its “Storm” period, and begins to move faster than 40 minutes of arc per day.

Monday, November 9, 14:38 UT - transiting Ceres re-enters Pisces

Monday, November 9, 14:51 UT - transiting Vesta enters pre-retrograde shadow, 6:42 Virgo

Tuesday, November 10. approx 17:00 UT - Mercury’s greatest western elongation, 29:47 Libra

Tuesday, November 10, 21:55 UT - transiting Mercury re-enters Scorpio

Thursday, November 12, 21:39 UT - the final Jupiter-Pluto conjunction, 22:51 Capricorn

Departing from the format to say: this will most likely manifest as another spike in coronavirus cases - here in the US, if we haven’t already shut down, we probably will, close to this day. (I don’t see that happening before the election, unless Dolt 45 gets truly desperate.) The Lady Asteroid Pallas Athene is also exactly conjunct Jupiter and Pluto today - and the Lady Asteroid Vesta/Virgo is exactly sesquare (135 degrees) Pallas Athene, Jupiter, and Pluto. JFC.

Saturday, November 14, 00:36 UT - transiting Mars stations direct, 15:14 Aries

Yippee!!

Sunday, November 15, 05:07 UT - New Moon, 23:18 Scorpio

Thursday, November 19, 21:04 UT - transiting Mercury exits post-retrograde shadow, 11:40 Scorpio

Yippee!! However, the very next day….

Friday, November 20 - begin “shadow of the eclipse” period

Saturday, November 21, 13:22 UT - transiting Venus enters Scorpio

Saturday, November 21, 20:40 UT - transiting Sun enters Sagittarius

Sunday, November 29, 00:36 UT - transiting Neptune stations direct, 18:10 Pisces

Monday, November 30, 09:30 UT - Full Moon/Eclipse, 8:38 Gemini

And look, I remembered to add the Opportunity Periods!!

Saturday, October 31, 14:49 UT - Monday, November 2, 10:00 UT. “An innovated and constructive period, but because Mercury is retrograde, use it on matters begun before October 7.” (October 7 is when Mercury first entered its “Storm” period, moving less that 40 minutes per day. Merc had entered its pre-Rx shadow way back on September 23, if you prefer to go back that far.)

Wednesday, November 4, 00:43 UT -  13:49 UT. “Clear thinking with this Moon in Gemini OP, even with Mercury stationary.”

Sunday, November 8, 13:46 UT - Monday, November 9, 11:05 UT. “A very good time for closing a deal or for socializing and having fun.”

Tuesday, November 10, 21:53 UT - Wednesday, November 11, 10:58 UT. “Use this OP for productivity, getting organized, and tidying up.”

Saturday, November 14, 23:37 UT - Sunday, November 15, 00:37 UT. “This Cazimi Moon is usable ½ hour before and ½ hour after the Sun-Moon conjunction. If you have something important to start around now, this is a great time to do it.”

Thursday, November 19, 16:16 UT - 17:30 UT. “Just a short time to do the right thing.”

Tuesday, November 24, 01:18 UT - 10:44 UT. “A nice opportunity to gently start something new and positive. Good for anything, especially for the arts and healing.”

Sunday, November 29, 08:33 UT - 16:16 UT. “With the Moon in down-to-earth Taurus, use this OP for practical projects.”

Pre-void Moon, it’s a good day. The last aspect before that void, is a sextile between the Aquarius Moon and Mars Rx/Aries. This bestows a very independent feeling, and very energetic too, physically and emotionally. Ordinarily I would caution everyone about overdoing it - and I guess I still am - except there’s that wonderful trine between Venus and Saturn, keeping our feet on the ground. Do something nice for your grandparents; it’ll pay off! Once the Moon goes void, though, it’s going to stay that way for almost exactly 24 hours. Find an entertaining way to waste time online.

What’s happening when:

  • Lunar Phase: First Quarter Moon (take action, build new structures)
  • Moon/Aquarius
  • Venus/Virgo trine Saturn/Capricorn, 9:41 am MDT
  • Moon/Aquarius void of course, 3:54 pm MDT
  • Mercury Rx/Scorpio sesquare Neptune Rx/Pisces, 11:15 pm MDT
  • Venus/Virgo semi-square Juno/Scorpio, 11:51 pm MDT

Looking ahead to Sunday: smoother seas, eventually

First Quarter Moon: take action! What I find so intriguing is that the Moon will be at 0:36 Aquarius - and that all-important Jupiter-Saturn conjunction on December 21, is at 0:29 Aquarius. What do you want that to be like? It’s going to be important to keep an open mind - which will also be difficult. We may be so obsessed over one thing that we fail to notice something else. We may be torn between passionate involvement and dispassionate observation. All at the same time, too. Focus on what would be the most healing approach to all our problems. There will be more energy to actually do something, the further we go into living the day.

What’s happening when:

  • Lunar Phase: Crescent Moon (gather and mobilize resources)
  • Moon/Capricorn void of course (from yesterday)
  • Sun/Scorpio sextile Vesta/Virgo, 2:33 am MDT
  • Moon enters Aquarius, 6:17 am MDT
  • Lunar Phase: First Quarter Moon (take action, build new structures), 0:36 Aquarius, 7:23 am MDT
  • Mars Rx/Aries square Pallas Athene/Capricorn, 10:35 pm MDT

Looking ahead to Saturday: early stability, later confusion

Chart erected for Washington, DC

image

My eyes were drawn to a grand trine - that wouldn’t be there if I didn’t glop up the chart with all that stuff. There’s Uranus Rx and the Mean Black Moon Lilith in Taurus (”Mean” as in “average”), there’s Vesta and (in DC) the Vertex in Virgo, and there’s the asteroid Lilith with the centaur Pholus in Capricorn. That’s disruptive energy, with Uranus and Pholus, but it’s also bringing in a lot of “angry feminine” energy. And in earth signs! Something practical afoot.

Providing a focus for all that energy, and turning the grand trine into a kite, is the Sun/Mercury conjunction in Scorpio, the “Inferior Conjunction” of astronomy. (Mercury is orbiting between us and the Sun, hence “inferior.”) These conjunctions are like mental “resets” - we need to take a new approach to learning, thinking, and communicating. Some kind of Scorpio topic, perhaps? (Ms M is going to read everything Steven Forrest wrote, one chapter at a time, slowly - she usually tears through everything too fast - the conjunction is exactly on her natal Neptune Rx/Scorpio/12th.)

The conjunction is also sesquare Neptune Rx/Pisces. You may not know where to start. But the nature of that aspect is that you can push for the results you want - it’s principally teaching us patience and persistence.

18 notes · See All

I had this all written up and the wifi crapped out on me! Grrrrr.

So. The main story today is the Sun entering Scorpio. We’re going to start taking life, and ourselves, a little more seriously. Especially with that sextile between the Sun, and a newly-into-Virgo Vesta. Self-obsession, if we aren’t careful. This is also the kind of day where we may deliberately set ourselves up to fail, just to prove some stupid point or other. There’s just so much seriousness. Venus trining all those Capricorn planets isn’t going to be much help, because she’s also got her hands full with minor (but painful) aspects with Eris and Uranus. Contrary for the sake of being contrary, I guess? The best use of the day will be to act and think and believe as realistically as possible, without succumbing to our pessimism. Think about what is practical and practicable right now, in order to achieve your goals.

What’s happening when:

  • Lunar Phase: Crescent Moon (gather and mobilize resources)
  • Moon/Capricorn
  • Transiting Vesta enters Virgo, 1:34 am MDT
  • Mars Rx/Aries semi-sextile Neptune Rx/Pisces, 3:10 am MDT
  • Pluto/Capricorn inconjunct North Node/Gemini, semi-sextile South Node/Sagittarius, 3:30 pm MDT
  • Transiting Sun enters Scorpio, 5:00 pm MDT
  • Venus/Virgo inconjunct Eris Rx/Aries, 7:12 pm MDT
  • Venus/Virgo sesquare Uranus Rx/Taurus, 9:04 pm MDT
  • Moon/Capricorn void of course, 10:35 pm MDT
  • Sun/Scorpio sextile Vesta/Virgo, 2:33 am MDT (Friday)

I have a suspicion about this particular jaunt of the Moon through Capricorn. While these have been undeniably nasty and cold - this one may not be quite so ugly. The reason is that the Moon will make several flowing aspects: to Merc Rx, Venus, Juno, and Vesta - as well as the usual trine to Uranus Rx and sextile to Neptune Rx. All of a sudden whatever lofty principles we used to get through these times, seem a little closer and more real. Today’s problems are more concerned with communication, as Merc and Venus tangle with each other and the Nodes. Probably not anything super serious or fraught with peril - maybe just a bit of trouble over being too stubborn and unyielding in our thoughts and ideas.

What’s happening when:

  • Lunar Phase: Crescent Moon (gather and mobilize resources)
  • Moon/Sagittarius void of course (from yesterday)
  • Moon enters Capricorn, 12:44 am MDT
  • Sun/Libra trine Ceres/Aquarius, 7:53 am MDT
  • Mercury Rx/Scorpio sesquare North Node/Gemini, semi-square South Node/Sagittarius, 11:32 am MDT
  • Mercury Rx/Scorpio semi-square Venus/Virgo, 2:30 pm MDT
  • Venus/Virgo trine Pluto/Capricorn, 3:42 pm MDT
  • Venus/Virgo square North Node/Gemini and South Node/Sagittarius, 4:52 pm MDT
  • Transiting Vesta enters Virgo, 1:34 am MDT (Thursday)

The week’s sole Opportunity Period is today, beginning at 15:28 UT. “Things can work really well during this OP; a fine time for play and social activity.” It’s almost like a nice recess! We just seem to be in a better mood today. Not a perfect mood. Underneath our bravado and optimism, we’re just the opposite - uncertain and pessimistic. But, sometimes when you put on a brave and positive front, you really become brave and positive. Just be very careful to keep clear of becoming brash and insensitive. The OP ends at 06:44 UT tomorrow, when the Moon enters Capricorn - also remember that “winging it” needs to be your plan only for “if all else fails.”

Mercury Rx is causing trouble today, with its second-of-three aspects to Juno and Uranus. We’re due for some clarification with a second aspect - perhaps exactly how much we disagree with a significant other; perhaps some issue involving the “powerless” in our societies. (The first time for the oposition, Dolt 45 abruptly cut off stimulus negotiations.) Given a Sag Moon which makes flowing aspects today and tomorrow to the Sun, Mars Rx, Chiron Rx, and Eris Rx - and squares to Venus/Virgo and Neptune Rx/Pisces, too - some of the famed Sagittarian bluntness and tactlessness may trigger the Mercury situations. It may also make us a little too cocky and/or over optimistic about what resources we need to achieve our goals. Keep those feet on the ground.

  • Lunar Phase: New Moon (set a new intention for the month)

Only one measly Opportunity Period this week. It begins Tuesday, October 20, at 15:28 UT and ends on Wednesday, October 21 at 06:44 UT. “Things can work really well during this OP; a fine time for play and social activity.” Just be responsible and socially distance!

Although mid-week is on the rough side, there are some ameliorating factors in play. One, Venus will make a couple of trines: to Pluto on Wednesday, and to Saturn on Saturday. That has to help somehow! Two: Mars is still moving backwards, but after this Friday’s square to Pallas Athene he and those Capricorn planets will leave each other alone for a while. Finally, beginning next Sunday the 25th and lasting for a few days afterward, we’re in for a nicer time. We deserve a breather. Not out of the woods yet, but close.

That doesn’t look like much, either, does it? Even the Moon isn’t very busy today. We’re concerned with secrets in communication, perhaps principally with things we’ve been holding inside - or that others have been holding inside. (What are they thinking about, anyway?) It’s entirely possible that we’ll just blurt something right out, or that we’ll be pushed to our limits and verbally explode - or that someone we know will do so. We’re in a kind of one-track mind and don’t want our focus disturbed. An Opportunity Period begins at 21:52 UT, lasting not quite 24 hours (until 21:43 UT Sunday). “Serious work is probably the best use for this OP,” advises Llewellyn.

It isn’t looking all bad. I like the trine between Venus and Pallas Athene, especially since Venus is the ruler of Libra, the sign of today’s New Moon. “Take a sad song, and make it better.” Some of that energy is going to make an impact on whatever monthly intention we set. (The lunation falls into Ms M’s 12th House - she’s going to start meditating every day as soon as she gets home from work. Just pick some simple Libra type activity, tailored to whatever of your natal houses holds 23:53 Libra, and go for it.) We’re aware of others’ anger but at the same time we’re feeling a little detached from it; don’t cut yourself off emotionally, or it may come back to bite you in the butt.

What’s happening when:

  • Lunar Phase: Balsamic Moon (let go of the past, envision the future)
  • Moon/Libra
  • Lunar Phase: New Moon (set a new intention for the month), 23:53 Libra, 1:31 pm MDT
  • Venus/Virgo trine Pallas Athene/Capricorn, 3:22 pm MDT
  • Sun/Libra opposite Eris Rx/Aries, 4:10 pm MDT
  • Moon/Libra void of course, 4:11 pm MDT
  • Moon enters Scorpio, 11:05 pm MDT

Looking ahead to Saturday: which side are you on?

(Please note that MDT is six hours behind UT.)

Thursday, October 15, 2020

We’re all feeling the opening lines from Shakespeare’s play Henry IV Part 1: “So shaken as we are, so wan with care / Find we a time for frighted peace to pant / And breathe short-winded accents of new broils / To be commenced in strands afar remote.” Seriously, is 2020 ever going to let up? We’re all exhausted from being buffeted about by this craptastic year. With both the Sun and the Moon in Libra, we feel it especially keenly today. And in the Balsamic lunar phase, we’re dog-tired and we need to rest. Weird time for the Sun to make flowing aspects to the Nodes, huh? That’s a very big hint, I believe, that the peace and tranquility we want is all in our minds.

What’s happening when:

  • Lunar Phase: Balsamic Moon (let go of the past, envision the future)
  • Moon/Libra
  • Sun/Libra square Pluto/Capricorn, 4:15 am MDT
  • Sun/Libra trine North Node/Gemini, sextile South Node/Sagittarius, 2:34 pm MDT

Looking ahead to Friday: New Moon in Libra

(Please note that MDT is six hours behind UT.)

Chart erected for Washington, DC

image

What I really hate most about 2020 is that all the choices are bad. I’m not just talking about my ballot. (Which is what everyone I work with assumes I mean!) I just mean that in 2020 we don’t seem to have any “good” options. We have crappy options along a scale from “mildly crappy” to “brutally crappy.”

Looking at the above chart, I’m seeing three bad choices. The principal one is, of course, the lunation in Libra opposite Mars Rx and Eris Rx in Aries, and squaring all those Capricorn placements (Pallas Athene, Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn). As it’s in cardinal signs, it shows a situation that isn’t brand-spanking new - it’s something we’ve failed to deal with in an adequate or realistic way. (Much less a healthy way.) That opposition must fall across a couple of houses in your chart - in mine, it falls across Houses 12 (the 23+ degree Libra New Moon) and 6 (the Aries stuff), with the Capricorn stuff falling into House 3. I would love to retire, especially if we’re going to have coronavirus to contend with for several more months if not years. But I’m part of that 80% of all Americans who live from paycheck to paycheck - i.e. the real working class, unable to take vacations or even RETIRE - and I don’t see that changing any time soon, without a lottery jackpot coming to me or to my kids. So maybe what I’ve got to do is suck it up and let it go?

There’s an older bad choice represented, too: the Mercury Rx and Juno (both in Scorpio) opposition to Uranus Rx in Taurus. This is a fixed sign affliction, and therefore of long standing. It’s also the second of three Mercury-Uranus oppositions during this Mercury retrograde - the first of which happened when Dolt 45 abruptly cut off the US stimulus talks. With Juno right in there, too, we have every right to be concerned about the “weaker” people in society - women, children, the poor, etc. - because for us it’s literally life and death, Taurus and Scorpio. This opposition may be in the same houses as your Lunation-Mars stuff (it is for me), or it may be in the next pairing.

Finally, a brand-new bad choice, as shown by the opposition in mutable signs of Venus/Virgo and Neptune Rx/Pisces. This is across my 10th and 4th Houses. I’m bitter - my mom had adequate finances during her retirement, my grandparents certainly never had to worry; none of them spent their 60s sweating the rent! What the hell happened? And, I don’t think there’s much to do about it right now. (It’s going to take people on the streets….)

A last rant: I’m thinking about what Cam White was ranting about a couple of weeks ago - that since the end of World War II Americans (at least) really haven’t been tested like this. After 1945 the US had all the money; and enough of the prosperity was shared with its citizenry, that even working class people could take vacations and retire. I’m in hopes that this crap-tastic year of 2020 will make us at least a little bit stronger, and a little more inclined to act for justice.

Wednesday, October 14, 2020

There’s an Opportunity Period today, between 11:47 UT and 22:47 UT. Eleven good hours which are “useful for practical matters that have to do with existing projects.” Under the influence of that Juno-Nodes difficulty and tomorrow’s Sun-Pluto difficulty, don’t count on a lot of cooperation, though. If people aren’t trying to get you to neglect your own chores to help them with their work - they’ll be trying to tell you how to do your own thing. We really will seem wired to function best alone today. After the Moon enters Libra, we may feel a little lonesome.

What’s happening when:

  • Lunar Phase: Balsamic Moon (let go of the past, envision the future)
  • Moon/Virgo
  • Juno/Scorpio sesquare North Node/Gemini, semi-square South Node/Sagittarius, 10:31 am MDT
  • Moon/Virgo void of course, 4:47 pm MDT
  • Moon enters Libra, 11:54 pm MDT
  • Sun/Libra square Pluto/Capricorn, 4:15 am MDT (Thursday)

Looking ahead to Thursday: reckoning

(Please note that MDT is six hours behind UT.)
