Shen Qingqiu turned to Mu Qingfang. "How could he know that? Shang Qinghua was older than I was when I joined the sect. I wasn't named Qingqiu until years later." Mu Qingfang knelt by the side of the bed. He had a way of making himself softer, nonthreatening, that annoyed Shen Qingqiu both for the saccharin quality of the affectation and, privately, his own inability to immitate it. One might catch more flies with honey, but Shen Qingqiu has only ever had vinegar in his arsenal. The young Shang Qinghua didn't seem comforted by it, and leaned away warily as Mu Qingfang settled next to him. "Do you know where you are, Shang-gongzi?" he asked. The young Shang Qinghua swallowed. "If he's supposed to be Shen Qingqiu, then this is Cang Qiong Mountain, huh?" The doctor nodded. "Yes, that's good. You remember entering the sect then?" "Entering the—no! What is this, some—some isekai shit? Into my ideas? This—this isn't real. I'm hallucinating." "You know who we are and where you are, what makes you feel it must be a dream?" "This isn't real. You're not real, Cang Qiong isn't—Shen Qingqiu isn't real. He's just a character I thought of, I haven't even written it down yet." "A… character?" "Yeah, you know." I really like “Truth Serum” trope in fanficion, particularly in Svsss fanfic because I think it’s can be a number of things- funny, angst, sweet.

HOWEVER, I feel like there isn’t enough where SY gets Truth Serum-ed, and his romantic partner, martial siblings and/or disciples get to see his absolutely unhinged thoughts.

Like, sure, you get a system reveal out of this, but I also think this is funnier if the bit where SY isn’t SJ isn’t revealed makes this so much funnier.

It’s the trial and SY is made to tell the truth, except it’s his whole thought process tumbling out and he just can’t help ‘Peerless Cucumber’ ranting and tearing apart OPM in front of everyone like the internet troll he still is deep down. Yue Qingyuan is just letting this happen.

It’s post canon and Luo Binghe is subjected to his husband’s feral thought process about him, and how great he is, and how he is definitely not gay for marrying him because come on. Look at Binghe.

It’s during the years after the conference and Liu Qingge is having to hold a ranting SY back from making the demons who got them in this mess cry, because SY isn’t going just a little too hard in his rant. Also he keeps saying how pretty LQQ is but how everyone must think that jeez, which is not helping the situation.

It’s at any point and Mu Qingfang is pretending to have a normal conversation with SY, under the cover of getting this truth serum nonsense fixed. Except SY just keeps saying the wildest shit about his health and what he does to manage it and Mu Qingfang just wants him to keep going at this point to learn the medical things that SY would never admit on a normal day.

I know this might sound like a normal fanfic with this trope, but I just feel like I have never seen one where the people who care about SY are forced to witness him being a bastard internet troll that we all know he is.

Anyway if anyone had some fanfic recs, I would love some lol

Scum villain crack fic idea:

One or more of the peak lords switch places in time with their younger selves for like a week and basically decides to spend that time gossiping. “It’s so nice to be able to not hear Shen-Shixiong and his husbands causing another scandal” “An Ding is so much warmer without the King of the North in semi-permanent residence” “Have you heard of ‘The resentment of Chunshan?’”

This person just keeps dropping multiple bombshells and is low key revealing in the chaos. The current head disciples and previous peak lords are loosing their shit at the idea that not only is TLJ roaming free, the demon realm is united, HHP is run by a half demon, etc, but also that, at minimum two peak lords are married to demon royalty.

For comedic purposes I propose that this au includes as many peak lords as possible in some sort of human-demon relationship.

Minds are blown with the mention of SQH being both the King of the North’s Consort, but also advisor to the demon emperor.

SQQ the leacher is in a committed gay relationship with two men? With his Disciple?? Who is said Current Demonic Emperor?! And LIU QINGGE?!

Rating Scum Villian characters based on how milfy they are:

Shen (Yuan) Qingqiu: an easy 10/10. You can’t tell your disciplesonwife that you wouldn’t abort him without becoming a milf.

Follow up to this! Part Three!

“You’re telling me,” Shen Qingqiu, the real one, said, sitting in his rightful spot as SiC, right next to Yue Qingyuan. “That you all had noticed that something was wrong and had tried every way to check for possession?”

He said it like he didn’t believe them.

“And brainwashing. And poison. And anything that could rattle the brain.” Wei Qingwei listened off.

“When nothing came back, we had to assume the only thing left- Amnesia.” Mu Qingfang said.

“I thought… we thought, that this was just you, without your painful memories.” Yue Qingyuan admitted, shamefully.

“See!” The imposter said brightly, from where he sat next to Shen Qingqiu. “I told you that it wasn’t all that it seemed. Except, hm. Was I really that bad at acting?”

“Yes.” The entire room said at once.

“So you were the one that saved my life?” Liu Qingge finally chimed in, looking at the two intensely. The imposter looked embarrassed.

“Yes, but that’s only… it was only me because of the timing.” He said. “Liu-Shidi, he would have saved your life too-“

The look on Liu Qingge’s face said what he thought about that.

“Wait, what if I like the other one better?” Asked a random peak lord from the back, who clearly hadn’t meant to be overheard. Shen Qingqiu scoffed, offended and angry.

“This isn’t happening again!” The imposter said, just as offended. Then he pointed at Shang Qinghua, who had his head laying on the table after his choking experience. “You! Tell them things! Go on!”

“Huh?!” Shang Qinghua’s head shot upwards, eyes wide. “Things? What things?”

“You know things!” The imposter insisted. “Secrets! Tell them so this doesn’t devolve again!”

“I would rather it devolve than have my secrets shared-“ Shen Qingqiu tried to interject, but the imposter was not having it.

“This is a matter of the fate of the world, ge. Now tell your secrets, Shang-Shidi, or I’m telling your secrets, right here and now!”

“Ge?!” Shen Qingqiu snapped, drowning out Shang Qinghua’s panicked whine. “Who’s your ‘ge’-?!”

“Shen-Shixiong wasn’t trying to kill you, Liu-Shidi, all those years ago!” Shang Qinghua cut in, voice loud and panicked. “There was a ghost about to attack you but he killed it before you turned around!”

“Huh?!” Liu Qingge snapped, looking between Shen Qingqiu and Shang Qinghua.

“And Shen-Shixiong doesn’t go to brothels for the women, but just to sleep because he doesn’t trust anyone here-“

“Shut up if you value your life.” Shen Qingqiu said, deadly calm. Shang Qinghua gulped, and went a different direction.

“Yue-Shixiong went back for you but his Shizun-“

“Shang-Shidi, this is inappropriate-“ Yue Qingyuan tried to cut in, only to be stopped by Shen Qingqiu’s fan in his face.

“No, actually,” Shen Qingqiu said, “Keep talking if you value your life.”

Thinking about why and how Shang Qinghua left Cang Qiong Sect as a traitor after Shen Qingqiu faked his death (by actually dying) and also why Yue Qingyuan took Shang Qinghua back afterwards... it would be kind of fun to do an AU where Yue Qingyuan actually sent Shang Qinghua to go spy on Luo Binghe.

Like, let's say that Yue Qingyuan figures out that Shang Qinghua had SOMETHING to do with Shen Qingqiu's actions after the Water Prison. By general behavior, maybe, and also because Shang Qinghua did send a coded letter to Shen Qingqiu just before his escape from the Water Prison. Yue Qingyuan doesn't have to have even seen the letter or its contents to know that something is up here if he finds out about that.

Yue Qingyuan also canonically missed Sha Hualing's invasion because he was away organizing the Immortal Alliance Conference, so it's not unreasonable for Yue Qingyuan to belatedly figure out that Shang Qinghua (who almost certainly helped organize the event) possibly had something to do with the invasion of the conference too. Maybe this is the point where a whole bunch of little details over decades of acquaintance click together to form the greater picture.

So, a grieving Yue Qingyuan has caught a traitor, which is terrible for the sect, but a traitor can still be very useful. He doesn't really want Shang Qinghua managing the sect and spying on them now, and Luo Binghe has stolen Shen Qingqiu's body and kidnapped Mu Qingfang (briefly) and is now regularly having fights with Liu Qingge about it, so maybe it'll be preferable to an execution if Cang Qiong has an inside man of sorts? Especially when Luo Binghe is possibly very obviously trying to resurrect Shen Qingqiu (it's something that Mu Qingfang could easily guess from his time there and report back to his sect leader), which Yue Qingyuan probably doesn't actually want to PREVENT even if he would also like Shen Qingqiu's bones back so that the man he loves can rest in peace. Shang Qinghua can be a double agent! Thrown out under the guise of being discovered!

Shang Qinghua: "Sure, sure, sure. But what if I just ran away, huh? What if I just didn't do that for you?"

Yue Qingyuan: "What if I told the new Huan Hua Palace Master, Luo Binghe, that you sent Shen Qingqiu a coded message directly before he escaped the Water Prison and died?"

Shang Qinghua: "...Fuck. What happened to your bleeding heart, Shixiong?"

Yue Qingyuan: "It's not bleeding for you. If any of Luo Binghe's resurrection rituals work, let me know, hm? And try to save Liu-Shidi's life whenever possible."
