In the Spectre's Shadow by LadyStrangeandUnusual (Dream_Wreaver) is one of my favorites of all the Beetlejuice fanfic but if we are talking musical, this is on top. It's basically the musical. It's perfect for people who have not seen the show live. It's the same story but with a MusicalBabes lens and a much better ending. I kinda wish the writer would do more long fics but the one-shots by this author are so steamy. I love it.
Anonymously tell me your favorite Beetlejuice fanfic

I'm always like "Oh yeah the Nightmare Times are some of my favourite content Starkid has ever put out, but they're fun additional stories and not necessarily essential for people to watch if they're into the Hatchetfield musicals." And then I think about CCRP's future or Homeless Man or Pete's brother or Miss Holloway and I'm like OH MY GOD THEY DON'T KNOW. THEY DON'T KNOW. THEY LACK CRITICAL INFORMATION. THEY DON'T--

"Can anything separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean He no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (-) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loves us.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our fears about tomorrow- not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below- indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 8:35,37-39
transcript:
Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place
Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste
It all revolves around you
And there's no mountain too high
No river too wide
Sing out this song and I'll be there by your side
Storm clouds may gather
And stars may collide
But I love you
Until the end of time
Come what may
Come what may
I will love you
Until my dying day

Gwen's signature musical theme/motif is a sped up version of the "Spider-Man, Spider-Man" song (yes, the one you just sang in your head). Same notes, just faster.

little girl, a patient: can I have a lollipop
doctor merlin in the 21st century: can you have— I have created butterflies from nothing and horses from smoke. I have seen empires rise, fall, crumble, and start from nothing but a fish in a poor man’s hand. I’ve fought witches and failed them too. I’ve laid waste to armies and blessed nations of people with health that will never make up for it. I have pantsed Kings and kissed Queens. I have stood upon the precipice of this world and called forth the ocean only for time to swallow me whole and spit me back out. And I would do it all again if I could grant you, dear Matilda, a lollipop.
little girl: strawberry?
merlin: say no more, Tilda, this should clear up the taste of that cold medicine right away

Why do people tend to dislike the Beetlejuice musical?
I think that depends. This is a mixed group with a lot of different preferences.
Some people prefer a serious tone (movie). Some live for the nostalgia of both toon and movie. And some really do enjoy musical verse but found themselves on the unwelcome side of the new flood of fans, so they chose to distance themselves.
Granted there are those who don’t like musicals in general and people who want nothing to do with revivals. It is really hard to know for sure unless you ask.
Me personally, I enjoy it. I prefer the old school versions but I do enjoy the Broadway show.
Hell, I flew out with a few of my Babes to NY. Just to catch the show during the Broadway preview. We had a blast and brought home so much merch. (Still jelly over my babes who got to see the DC version)
I also plan to see it again on tour when it comes to L.A. this summer. I am stoked to be able to invite the Babes to my home turf.

Please consider reblogging for a larger sample size.
*Edit for some clarification: the others are gone COMPLETELY. There is absolutely no saving the others. The cultural impact and even the concepts of them are wiped out of existence. There is no potential of getting the others back ever again. Also, I know it says "three" and not "five" this was supposed to be two different polls until I changed them.
