Help Moffy replace her 10 year old computer! <3 (Commissions Open!)
I'm in the market for a new computer, what I have right now is a laptop, but I've love to have a desktop again for the option of a bigger screen to aid my poor eyesight. I've been saving pocket change and extra cash since January, and currently have about $300, but I really want a nice computer able to last at least another ten years.
My current computer is often slow, and even running Firefox alone can be a chore, much less photoshop. (And don't even get my started on PS, the amount of loading screens I see just for cropping my scans is outrageous---and it didn't used to do that) This computer worked well for a number of years and USED to be a beast, but I feel if I wait too much longer, it may just die on my unexpectedly. That's why I'd love some help saving for a new one! (It's actually already died once and been brought back to life lmao. that's a story)
I know this is technically a WANT and not a NEED, but in some ways I feel I do need it just to keep up with this blog and my art. I'm also starting a new business venture soon with my art, and have even joined some local art shows. I need easy access to photoshop for that. With all that said, I am humbly asking for some commissions/donations. I'm trying to get something that can handle multiple heavy duty programs at once, and while I don't have one picked out yet, I'd like to save at least $800 before I start seriously shopping.
I have commissions open year around, but rarely do I get any. On my ko-fi I offer up lots of services, from writing and editing with everything $8 and under. (example: I offer crappy ms paint doodles, drabbles, letters from Jonathan, edits, etc) I would really appreciate some commissions/shop downloads or if you feel so generously, a donation.
Ko-Fi: MistressOfFear
PayPal: Paypal.me.Mistressoffear
CashApp: $CranesMistressOfFear
GOAL: $300 out of $800
PS: Don't feel obligated to help, only if you can do so yourself safely. I know this all may seem selfish, but kindness knows no bounds. Y'all helped me afford a new tablet when my old one died, so I am already extremely grateful. The batman rogues fandom has been so sweet to me over the years, and for that I feel loved and in need or saying: thank you <3

Any chance you have seen and/or have thoughts on Across the Spider-Verse?
I literally just got back from Across the Spider-Verse and sat down at my computer, so this is about as fresh as a take as I can manage.
Short version: it's an astonishingly and relentlessly ambitious film that aims to outdo every other Spider-Man movie, every other multi-verse movie, and even its own first entry in the Miles Morales trilogy. And it succeeds.
Full spoilers below the cut. You have been warned.
The Visuals
Before I get into anything about the story, I want to first give full credit to the directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemo Powers, Justin K. Thompson, and the entire team at Sony Pictures Animation. If you saw the first Spider-Verse movie and aren't an animation nerd, you probably were impressed but didn't realize how revolutionary it was. I'll let Movies With Mikey explain the details, because it's easier if you can see what people are talking about:
youtube
When your first entry wins an Academy Award by thumbing your nose at Pixar, the reigning king of animation, and the principles of animation set down by the Nine Old Men, you have every right to sit back on your laurels.
For Across the Spider-Verse, the Sony Pictures Animation team clearly decided: fuck that. If the first film had wowed audiences by combining a half-dozen styles of animation on the screen at the same time, the second film would drown you in dozens and dozens of Spiders-Men and -Women (and -Animals) drawn in every style imaginable: Da Vinci's yellowing parchments and sketchy penicls, harsh cell-shading, punk rock collage art, 90s-style comic panels full of impossibly rippling muscles, crappy hand-drawn animation from the 1967 tv show, and then for a tip of the hat to Who Framed Roger Rabbit and the man who should have been Spider-Man - live action.
The backgrounds show the same love: from the off-set printing of Miles' world (my favorite detail is that you know that Miles gets sent to the wrong Earth when the color scheme shifts from purple to green), to the dripping painterly pastels of the Gweniverse, to the riotous greens and yellows of Mumbattan, to the clean Pixaresque light blooms of the Spider-Society's technological utopia (which looks a hell of a lot like something out of Brad Bird's dreams).
I am thoroughly in awe of the mentality behind the animation in this film, the absolute determination to challenge one's own limits and exceed one's past accomplishments.
The Story
If there is a single world that defines Across the Spider-Verse, it's "canon." The moment Miguel O'Hara uttered that word, my spidey-senses started tingling and I realized that Lord & Miller came to this film with a sermon. See, if there's one message from the first Spider-Verse movie it's that "anyone can be Spider-Man." But if there's two messages is that "you can't save everyone" - the idea that the thing that unites all Spiders-Folk from across the multiverse, it is a common understanding of loss, a tragic origin that drives each hero to impossible efforts to never let it happen again.
Tumblr media
Across the Spider-Verse's message is: "why?" I cannot begin to explain the absolute vibranium balls it took to question not just a core premise of your previous movie, but one of the core premises of the entire multi-media multi-corporate franchise. And yet, Lord & Miller show nothing but confidence executing this turn.
FULL SPOILERS OF THE BIG TWIST AHEAD in 3:
3
2
1
At the beginning of the film, which makes the brilliant move to start by telling Spider-Gwen's story since we already know Miles, we are introduced to Miguel O'Hara (the Spider-Man from 2099) as a badass who leads a secret organization dedicated to protecting the mutliverse...but who secretly is also here to protect "canon."
At the turning point of the film, when Miles is finally invited to join the Spider-Society, we are let in on a dark truth: the safety of the multiverse depends on the suffering of Spiders. Just as Uncle Ben must die, so must a gallant police captain - although almost subtextually, Spider-Gwen hints that so too must the Gwen Stacys who "fall for Spider-Man" - to keep Spider-Man emotionally isolated and solely dedicated to his mission of protecting New York. Trying to avert this lonely fate, to live a happier life, brings about the destruction of all that is.
Through an act of unabashed heroism in Mumbattan - saving the life of a gallant police captain and an innocent child - Miles has inadvertently endangered an entire universe. And unless he allows his own father, the gallant captain, to die as well - the same fate will befall his own. Miles, being a good son and a good person, refuses to accept this and takes on the entire Spider-Society to get home and save his father.
In the chase, we are let in on a second, dark truth: Miles wasn't invited to join the Spider-Society because he is one of the anomalies they hunt, because he was never supposed to be Spider-Man. (You see how this builds on both the speech from Miles' mom about not letting white society tell him he doesn't belong AND the message from the first film?) The Kingpin's collider experiments allowed an Alchemax spider to cross over from Earth-42 to Earth-1610...and as a result, Earth-42 never got a Spider-Man.
When Miles accidentally is sent to Earth-42 instead of his actual home, he learns what that meant. Without Spider-Man, Captain Jeff Davis (Brian Michael Bendis is a real mensch like 99% of the time, but man did he fuck up with that one) died instead of his brother Aaron. Because the intended Spider-Man of Earth-42 was...Miles Morales. Instead, he has become a dystopian Brooklyn's Prowler, a living reminder of the damage the accident of Earth-1610's Miles' creation has caused. This is why you don't violate "canon."
Except...as we learn, Miguel O'Hara is wrong and our Miles is right. When Gwen is sent back to her own universe, which she has been running away from because she knows that it means confronting both her father the gallant captain and the inevitability of his death, she learns that George Stacy quit the force rather than take his promotion: Captain Stacy doesn't have to die. Nor did Captain Singh. Nor does Captain Davis. (For that matter, Miles doesn't have to lie to his family and live a double life as Spider-Man, as we see from his accidentally-misdirected confession.)
We are not the prisoners of the "canon."
Ever since Amazing Fantasy #15, "with great power there must also come great responsibility" has been the indisputable truth of Spider-Man. At this point, it's become a meme: "the Parker luck." Over and over again, Peter Parker must suffer for our sins - Uncle Ben dies, Captain Stacy dies, Gwen Stacy's death ushers in a whole new era of comics and the phenomenon of "fridging," his marriage to Mary Jane has to be done away with because the Spider Office are apparently psychological eternal adolescents, Aunt May has died and almost died so many times everyone's stopped caring.
And that's the problem: we've been playing the same hit for 61 years and it's gotten old. In the process, creators and audience together have condemned Spider-Man to a Sisyphean existence of eternal backsliding, unable to move on, build a life for himself, mature, die and give way to new Spiders. Hell, the best thing that's happened to Peter Parker in the last several decades was an AU in which he has a super-powered wife and daughter and can settle into a middle age of teaching at the Xavier School.
That's the sermon that Lord & Miller came to preach: just as in 2018 it was time for a new Spider-Man, now it's time for new stories that have the courage to try something different.
A Side-Note About the Multiverse
As with the animation side of the story, Lord & Miller could have sat back on their laurels when it came to the concept of the multiverse. After all, they were the ones who made it cool and sent Marvel Studios scrambling to catch up (still haven't succeeded at that, by the way). I don't think Everything Everywhere All At Once needed the creative help, but it absolutely helped sell the movie to producers that a multiverse movie could make millions and win Oscars. (Funny how that works.) Instead, Lord & Miller took it up a notch by asking "what is the purpose of a multiverse?"
Hot take: I don't like the Spider-Verse events. For all that they've given us some amazing Spider designs - and we saw them all up on screen in Across the Spider-Verse - no one cares about the stories. That's because the naked purpose of the comics was to market test Spider designs, see which ones generated buzz, and then make spin-off comics about those Spiders.
Across the Spider-Verse uses the concept of a multiverse, the shiny Macguffin that multi-billion dollar corporate conglomerates will hope will the ticket to riches, to strip Spider-Man down to the essentials by showing every conceivable variation and asking us what they all have in common. Is it suffering, or a commitment to doing the right thing?
Conclusion:
Holy shit, is firing Lord & Miller the biggest mistake Disney has made since Walt refused to recognize the animators' union in 1941.

Next morning. Jack sneaked out. Ji Ho and Vlad are still sound asleep. The main work of doing their Bond Magic is still on them and it drains them. Despite the devices. Vlad will hate it. He wanted to spare Ji Ho from all this...
Tumblr media
Jack went over to the garage to work on their rooms. They need more place to sleep. He is still amazed how easy and fast these machines build furniture and stuff! Out of trash and junk!
Tumblr media
Meanwhile Jeb, Saiwa and Kiyoshi went to the kitchen. Jeb insists that Saiwa is cooking today with Kiyoshi - to help him come back... Sai can't get over how Jeb put Kiyoshi over him. Saiwa had always been jealous of Kiyoshi and Jeb. Jeb didn't even hesitate agreeing to their fake relationship! How far will this go?
Tumblr media
Jeb dwells on his own thoughs. He knows that Saiwa always had a crush on Kiyoshi. Everyone has. That's just how Kiyoshi is. But he is his best friend and he trusts him unconditionally. And he would do anything to bring him back. Even though Kiyoshi could never tell him much about his duties for the Council, the Resistance and the Temple.
Tumblr media
But watching them together makes Jeb think if it was the right decision. What will he do when this fated-mates-thing is true? Did Kiyoshi love Saiwa all the time and just never told them because Kiyoshi knew how much he loved Saiwa? Did he give up on Saiwa so they could be together? Gods - the way Kiyoshi looks at him... Will Jeb be able to give up on Saiwa so Kiyoshi and Saiwa can be together? ö.Ö'
Tumblr media
Ji Ho and Vlad eventually got up and they gathered for breakfast. They are so happy to be all together again <3 Ji Ho couldn't avoid to bring up the fact that they'll have to pay back Francine, Rubyn, Dtui and Leander (Vlad growled when he heard Ji Ho mentioning him ^^') for their help. But all of them agreed that they'd happily earn money the best they can to pay back. This place - their home - is more than they could ever hope for! Of course they would work to keep and earn it!
Tumblr media
They discussed their possibilities. Jack could sell his amazing nectar, Vlad his paintings... And they'd have to find a way to send their produce to the Muggle World. The Otherworld is populated too sparsely. Jeb: "Vanië, you could start programming again and even develop computer games!" Saiwa: "Uh - I'm good with computers - but there's a lot more to a game than just programming the code. I would have to compose the music and sounds, make up and write the story and dialogues and then all the design stuff and concept art. I can't do any of these things."
Tumblr media
If only Saiwa would know some creatures who are capable of all these things... ;) (Vlad is writer, Ji Ho composer and Jack draws ^^')
Tumblr media
After breakfast Jack took Ji Ho upstairs. He decorated a room for him.
Tumblr media
Ji Ho: "Gods, Jack - this is too much. It even looks better than your room!" Jack: "What? Nothing looks better than my Space House Boat!"
Tumblr media
There is even a bathtub at the balcony with view on the river! And Jack even made a corner with all of Ji Ho's music stuff!
Tumblr media
Ji Ho: "Thank you, Jack. It's so beautiful!"
Tumblr media
Jack: "You have the best view of all of our rooms. Right on the river." Ji Ho: "It's stunning. Wow."
Tumblr media
Then they talked a bit about their 'learn how to love lessons' and pondered about how Ji Ho could be able to learn how to love Vlad... Jack: "Let's go to the temple and visit Arturo later. I have to see him anyway, my pain gets worse again. He'll have advice for us." Ji Ho: "I hope so. I hate to see Vlad suffer because of me."
Tumblr media
When will you ever learn when there's nowhere left to turn Don't let your spirit burn I'll wait 'till you return
All the dreams that we were building We never lived them We could lose it, we should use it Lessons in love - Level 42

"Focus on my voice, and prepare yourself for what is to come."
It's been AGES since I've had the time for a digital piece. Thankfully, I recently got a brand new computer! One that is MUCH faster, smoother, and doesn't suddenly go into hibernation because of a crappy battery. Now I can REALLY get back into digital art! Plus, I got a little stylist to use. Now I won't have to use my fingers on my touchscreen.
Anyway, I wanted to expand on my design for the Master Mentalist from Hypnotorious. I'm seeing more people make artwork of him, which inspired me to give him a fancy cape and hat. Now he looks like a TRUE magician! I had to figure his colors out, couldn't just make him ALL purple (As tempting as that is.) I've seen some people use a bit of red, so I added some pinkish-red to his outfit! I hope you guys like it!

Size chart for (some) Cyberverse characters!
(Note: The size and conversions into feet will be done below, typed out for convenience.)
So I was scrolling around on Seibertron's discussion threads about cyberverse (somebody was trying to bring some political figures in the conversation and I was so confused) to try and ignore my real-life responsibilities and I stumbled upon this post!
It's a (probably) official size chart for certain characters from cyberverse! I posted another version of the screenshot below. Also, here is the original video from where the size chart came from, and it is also in a playlist, including other videos about this cyberverse magazine.
Tumblr media
Note: I suggest you click on the picture or open it in a new tab, as tumblr murdered the quality pretty badly. I also suggest you all to watch the video, because my computer is kinda crappy, and idk if taking a screenshot murdered the quality.
HEIGHT AND CONVERSION INTO IMPERIAL SYSTEM:
This is by the order from left to right, top to bottom. Please note that this isn't exact, as I'm just trying my best with eyeballing the heights, and I'm using google conversion to change this in the imperial system, and I'm also rounding the numbers to only two decimal places. Also, the poses they're doing are really weird (seriously, what are you doing, Acid Storm?), but I'm assuming that wherever their heads end is how tall whoever put this chart together wanted them to be, and they didn't have access to any official art that had everyone standing straight.
By the way, please don't chew me a new butt if I'm off by around 0.10 meters or something. I'm trying my best here, and I don't really want to break out the rulers and grid and do math to find their exact height. I'm just doing this for fun :]
AUTOBOTS/TOP ROW: Bumblebee: 4.75 meters, equivalent to 15.58 feet. Optimus Prime: 5.75 meters, equivalent to 18.86 feet. Windblade: 4.75 meters, equivalent to 15.58 feet. Grimlock: 6 meters, equivalent to 19.69 feet (nice). Hot Rod: 5.25 meters, equivalent to 17.22 feet. Wheeljack: 5.50 meters, equivalent to 18.04 feet. Blurr: 5.50 meters, equivalent to 18.04 feet. Ratchet: 5.65 meters, equivalent to 18.54 feet.
DECEPTICONS/BOTTOM ROW: Megatron: 6.25 meters, equivalent to 20.50 feet. Starscream: 5.10 meters, equivalent to 16.73 feet. Shockwave: 5.75 meters, equivalent to 18.86 feet. Thundercracker: 4.65 meters, equivalent to 15.26 feet. Shadow Striker: 5.65 meters, equivalent to 18.54 feet. Acid Storm: 4.65 meters, equivalent to 15.26 feet. Soundwave: 5.65 meters, equivalent to 18.54 feet. Slipstream: 4.65 meters, equivalent to 15.26 feet.
Below the cut is some stuff that I found interesting, like the average of heights, orders from shortest to tallest, surprises I had, and other thoughts. Take a look!
AVERAGE HEIGHTS OF AUTOBOTS: 5.39 meters, equivalent to 17.69 feet (nice).
AVERAGE HEIGHTS OF DECEPTICONS: 5.29 meters, equivalent to 17.37 feet.
AVERAGE HEIGHTS OF BOTS WITH LAND-BASED ALT-MODES (there were 11 of them in total; 7 Autobots, 4 Decepticons): 5.61 meters, equivalent to 18.40 feet.
AVERAGE HEIGHTS OF BOTS WITH AERIAL-BASED ALT-MODES (there were 5 of them in total; 1 Autobot, 4 Decepticons): 4.76 meters, equivalent to 15.62 feet.
-----
Height re-order; Tallest to shortest, all bots: 1. Megatron (6.25 m // 20.50 ft) 2. Grimlock (6 m // 19.69 ft) 3. Optimus Prime and Shockwave (Both 5.75 m // 18.86 ft) 4. Ratchet, Shadow Striker, and Soundwave (All 5.65 m // 18.54 ft) 5. Blurr and Wheeljack (Both 5.50 m // 18.04 ft) 6. Hot Rod (5.25 m // 17.22 ft) 7. Starscream (5.10 m // 16.73 ft) 8. Bumblebee and Windblade (Both 4.75 m // 15.58 ft) 9. Acid Storm, Slipstream, and Thundercracker (All 4.65 m // 15.26 ft)
Height re-order; Tallest to shortest, Autobots only: 1. Grimlock (6 m // 19.69 ft) 2. Optimus Prime (5.75 m // 18.54 ft) 3. Ratchet (5.65 m // 18.54 ft) 4. Blurr and Wheeljack (Both 5.50 m // 18.04 ft) 5. Hot Rod (5.25 m // 17.22 ft) 6. Bumblebee and Windblade (Both 4.75 m // 15.58 ft)
Height re-order; Tallest to shortest, Decepticons only: 1. Megatron (6.25 m // 20.50 ft) 2. Shockwave (5.75 m // 18.86 ft) 3. Shadow Striker, and Soundwave (Both 5.65 m // 18.54 ft) 4. Starscream (5.10 m // 16.73 ft) 5. Acid Storm, Slipstream, and Thundercracker (All 4.65 m // 15.26 ft)
-----
This whole list was pretty interesting, although I do feel like the animators weren't all that faithful to this (heck, I don't think they had this, and were just told general guidelines to follow to make each character a certain height.) Also, I'd have thought the seekers (and Windblade) would have been taller than most of the other bots that have land-based alt-modes, like Bumblebee or Hot Rod. I guess not in this continuity.
Considering that the other bots that are the same height as Shadow Striker or taller are either SUVs, tanks, large trucks, dinosaurs, etc, while Shadow Striker is just a sports car is pretty interesting.
I also like to imagine that the only reason why Starscream is taller than the other seekers listed is because he made some sort of mod (maybe something that has to do to his rockets at his heel/foot?)
It's too bad that there doesn't seem to be anything with the rest of the s1 characters (Because I swear there were more Autobots first shown in background scenes during season one, but I could be wrong), and it really is too bad that we don't have anything for the season 2, 3, and the movie specials.
Still, I hope you all found this post as interesting as I did!

@jaskersneakthief reblogged your post: #LETS GOOOO #how can you draw bill so perfectly what #it looks like an actual screenshot from the show #bill cipher
I'm assuming this is a sincere question!!! Have a crappy tutorial!
Step one: sketch yourself a Bill. Squint at a bunch of Bill screenshots to get a loose idea for what proportion of his body is taken up by his eye vs his brick stripes, and roughly where under his body his arms and legs hang, and how long his arms are compared to his legs, and how thick his limbs are compared to his body size.
Tumblr media
Step two: draw a triangle. I use the "monoline" brush that comes by default with procreate, because it doesn't have any pen pressure so it's perfectly smooth & perfectly round. Push up the brush size up to 100% and it's just the right shape to be the bevels on Bill's triangle body. I maximize the brush's smoothness settings and use computer-guided straight lines and arcs to draw his body. If you don't use procreate: look for a circular brush with a crisp outline and don't use pen pressure.
Tumblr media
Step three: draw his bricks. I drew one horizontal line, cloned it twice, then manually scooted around the lines to get the exact right proportions (so they take up the right amount of his body & are evenly spaced), and then draw the vertical ones. I use the same monoline brush, sized down. For his bow, I drew a crappy bow, then erased the edges of it to make it look tidier. (If you look close, you can tell I didn't really try on the bow. The bow is low priority to me.) The eye is also the same monoline brush; again, I'm using a computer-assisted automatic arc so that it actually looks smooth. I drew it on its own layer at nearly the right size then fussed with the exact proportions to get it to fill all the space on the triangle above the bricks.
Tumblr media
Step four: draw his arms and legs on a separate layer, with the monoline brush set to almost the exact right width, and then shrink the brush to do the fingers and thumbs, and then use a whole bunch of extra tiny strokes and tweaks to adjust the curves & thickness because I'm a perfectionist and it's annoying. It's not even "perfect" now, it's just perfect-ish. Way too much of my art time is spent shaving lines so they're the exact right curve and then shaving them even more so that they don't look shaved. And then the arms & legs go on a layer under the triangle.
Tumblr media
Step five: select the shape of Bill on a layer below the layers you're working on, paint it white, and gaussian blur it. Spend five minutes just on tweaking the blur.
Tumblr media
Step six: duplicate the blur, recolor the lower one yellow, and make it a bigger vaguer blur so that you can see it underneath the white blur.
Tumblr media
and that's how you make a Bill that can pass as a screenshot: straight lines, beveled corners, no outlines, and the glow. If you half-ass everything else, having no outlines and a big glow will save you.

Turns out that because of my crappy computer screen, ALL of the colors on my latest pieces of art were far too dark/unsaturated!
So I've fixed that.
Hope they look better now!
(P.S. I'm working on drawing up cutiemarks and names for the rest on my list!)

ai is making the whole process of wanting to post and share art extremely convoluted and tedious. I just wanna finish a piece and hit post and be done. why must I HAVE to be FORCED to run my art through a program that adds poisonous data onto my work and a protective layer for similar reasons BEFORE posting a piece??
I don't want to do that. I don't want people taking my art at all for these heinous reasons. I don't know why anyone would even want to steal and take my art. leave me alone and leave every other artist alone. if you want a computer to create art and generate images, figure out the coding to make it create those things by itself WITHOUT STEALING DATA AND CONTENT FROM OTHERS. ESPECIALLY WITHOUT THEIR INFORMATION. ALL FOR """"""TRAINING"""""".
THAT Would be more impressive than having it melt and frankenstain crudely a bunch of other artist's works that have taken them hours and years to create, just to create something that is wholly uncanny and devoid of any form of actual life, heart, and personality.
(rant below, cut for length):
if you want to create art, please don't feel discouraged by your """"lack of talent and skill"""" every artist has started somewhere and the only way to get better is to work on yourself and study and practice the fundamentals of art, sometimes tracing and imitating others can actually get you pretty far, even if it may seem like taboo and controversial advice, most people have started off by tracing and redrawing the art of their favorite media. it's honestly better than stealing works by others. because you, yourself, with a piece of paper and a pencil, or even a pen on a tablet, or a mouse on a computer.
Seriously. Pick up a pencil and start learning if you're gonna be one of those people that defends AI because you can't draw for crap and this somehow helps people like you. stop being lazy and please start drawing. lower skill levels of beginner artists are still charming because there is a sincerity to their works. I can love and appreciate and see that people are genuine in wanting to create art. they take time out of their days to create art. those who are still of more beginner levels, or even intermediate levels of art doing digital works, taking hours out of their days to color and render one singular piece is still more impressive and amazing than a 2 second crappy computer generated rendered image that isn't even qualified to be called art or even a painting. no one painted it, no one drew it. it's not art.
I wish for ai to die off and be a horrible crappy trend that people look back on 5-10 years from now and feel nothing but disgust and contempt towards.
