I equally love defiant and broken whumpees, bonus points if we get to see the process they go through from defiant to broken…

Insane!whumpees, whumpees who slowly lose their minds, their sense of time and reality, their whole identity over time (love mind control/psychological manipulation tropes for this)

Any pathetic little meow-meow-esque guy getting his shit absolutely fucked up.

Masochistic whumpees — especially if they’re desperately trying very hard to hide their— *ahem*—complicated relationship with pain, but it gets exposed anyway… cue lots of humiliation. 

(I rarely see this trope, it’s highly underutilized imo, but when I see it i’m hooked — I love Alec & Raina by @suspicious-whumping-egg for this trope)

9. Favourite kind of whumper?

Sadistic/insane/cruel whumpers —throw a lil bit of creepy whumper in there and we got ourselves a five star dish,,

Give me a whumper who will finger-paint their victim’s skin with the victim’s own blood :)) (lookin at you, SIlas)

I love whumpers who are unstable and unpredictable (hi Raiza) just as much as the cold, calculated types. 

Whumpers who gaslight gatekeep and girlboss their victim into insanity. (oh look it’s Seth @whumpshaped​ ) Give me manipulative whumpers whose mission is to make their victim lose their entire sense of reality and identity. 

Can’t forget the classic whumper turned whumpee & villain whump — Give me a really evil guy and turn him into a crying, flinching mess :) (shoutout Kane obv @whumpsday )

10. Favourite kind of caretaker?

Bad caretaker, caretaker turned whumper, cruel/sadistic caretaker my beloved!! 

These tropes are so underrated to me like, give me the recovery arc gone horribly wrong—give me the sense of fleeting hope and the heartbreak when it crumbles—give me the abuse, the neglect, give me the unexpected power trip that results in caretaker ending up as bad as or even worse than whumper.

Because with a caretaker or rescuer, the whumpee is emotionally invested this time, primed to trust them, in a physically/emotionally vulnerable position, and will be that much more hurt and confused when their rescuer suddenly turns on them, not to mention so much easier to gaslight and manipulate when the abuse comes from a person they’re supposed to trust

I’m writing a story for this trope :) some of you have read drabbles already—we love a recovery arc gone terribly wrong :)

Oh gosh there are a lot. Do you want just my favorite tropes? Or do you want specific examples? You know I'll give you both.

Hello everyone! I am so excited to bring you the first chapter of my contribution to Inuyasha Fleet Week, which is being run all week by @inu-mothership​! This story fits Day 1, New (to You) Ship!

This trope in this story is one I have wanted to do for a long time, and KagSan really felt like a perfect fit for it. I’m having a blast writing our poor, pining Sango, and I really hope you enjoy this one!

Story Summary: Sango has been hopelessly in love with her best friend Kagome since the day they met. And while Kagome has talked about nothing but boys, she's never had a boyfriend, and never made a move on a boy (or anyone else, for that matter), and so, Sango has been content to keep their relationship status quo.

That is, until Kagome bemoans the fact that prom is coming, and they don't have boyfriends, so wouldn't it be amazing for them to practice dating...with each other?

This is the story of how Sango can never say no to Kagome, even when it means her heart is on the line, and how Kagome found love, in the most unexpected (or perhaps, the most expected) of places.

A WW I romance based on the film War Horse and the character Major Jamie Stewart. Research on how the Germans handled prisoners-of-war, as well as on women's couture fashion in the 1910's.

man who has risen above his past mistakes/selfish history and thinks himself unworthy of love - earns the love of a kind, soft, woman, who does her all to prove to him he is more than worthy

👀 What’s an idea you had for a fic that you never did anything with?

Oh--and alas--there are several! But two come to mind right away. A Smaugbatch x OFC fic, based on Androcles and the Lion, and in which Smaug begins to transform into a human as he falls in love with the kindly village woman who did the equivalent of pulling a thorn from his foot.

A Beauty and the Beast take on the Cloak of Levitation. A vain, selfish woman is transformed into a sentient cloak and charged with serving Sorcerers, and can only regain her humanity when she becomes truly humble and unselfish. She serves countless Sorcerers over the centuries (including The Ancient One, who once called Cloak 'a fickle thing')--but something about Stephen Strange melts her heart. Not only is she loyal, she discovers she'd be willing to sacrifice her life for him. For she loves him with all her soul, and with no hope that he can reciprocate.

up on the screen is your face, big red letters plastered over a picture of you indicated that you're a threat. you're associated with the enemy, how could that be possible?

simon is reeling - you're not even involved in the military or anything. you're a civilian, a librarian. a shy, quiet little thing that had looked like you were gonna faint right then and there when simon riley stood at your counter with a stack of books for the first time.

you couldn't possibly be involved. but the intel couldn't be wrong.

The four of them are sitting in Robin's living room watching a movie when Robin's mom pops her head in and says that the pizza had arrived. Steve and Robin stand from the couch immediately, pushing and shoving at each other to get to the kitchen first. Nancy and Eddie stay behind, heads tilted together as they talk and giggle in hushed tones.

By the time Nance and Ed have made it to the kitchen, Robin and Steve have made it back to the couch. Robin's mom joins them after a moment, sitting in one of the chairs they've pulled in from the dining table to seat all five of them.

As Robin reaches over to try and pluck a piece of pepperoni from Steve's pizza, Steve catches Robin's mom watching them with a fond smile and twinkling eyes.

Steve knows that look. That's the look of a mother who thinks Steve is the perfect boyfriend to their daughter.

He spots a flash of curls before the couch sinks down beside him. He can divert Robin's mom's attention and show her that he and Robin really are just friends. Nancy won't mind. She'll understand and play along, so he lets his hand drift out to grip her thigh. "Hey, baby, do you think -"

Only his palm doesn't land on the cotton of Nancy's skirt. It touches rough denim instead.

He should snatch his hand back, should apologize and explain, but as his eyes meet the wide, startled gaze of Eddie, he freezes.

Eddie's eyes flash up to Robin, then to her mom, and Steve realizes that Eddie has understood. A warm palm slides onto his and dexterous fingers flip his hand over and twine with his own. "Think what, sweetheart?"

Gooseflesh rushes up his arm as Eddie's rough thumb begins to stroke his hand, and he swallows down a potentially embarrassing noise. "Um. Do you think your uncle would mind if you stayed with me tonight?"

Eddie smiles at him, wide and bright and disarming. "No, I don't think he'd mind. Parents out of town again?"

Robin's mom has diverted her gaze back to the TV, but Robin and Nancy are now staring at them with wide eyes. He ignores them. "Yeah."

"Big, spooky house too much for you?" Before Steve can reply, Eddie shifts closer to him and settles against Steve's side. "I'll protect you, sweetheart."

They watch the rest of the movie that way. Steve finds it a little odd to finish eating using his wrong hand, but for some reason, he can't bring himself to let go of Eddie.
