Subaru participará por décimo año consecutivo en las 24 horas de Nürburgring con el equipo “2017 STI NBR Challenge Team”, tras haber alcanzado su cuarta victoria en su categoría el pasado año, que se suma a las obtenidas en 2011, 2012 y 2015. La carrera tendrá lugar desde hoy al domingo 28 en el circuito de Nürburgring, ubicado en la región alemana de Renania – Palatinado.

Tras recorrer nada menos que 3.070 kilómetros y 121 vueltas en la edición 2016, y conseguir su segunda victoria consecutiva aventajando en más de 300 kilómetros al segundo clasificado, Subaru afronta la edición 2017 con el objetivo de enlazar 3 victorias y alcanzar la quinta en sus 10 participaciones en la categoría SP3T, destinada a vehículos de hasta 2 litros de cubicaje con motor turbo.

Subaru Corporation mantiene su apoyo a STI (Subaru Tecnica International) el departamento de competición y de desarrollo de coches deportivos de la marca, para continuar desarrollando el nuevo WRX STI NBR Challenge 2017, un coche de competición que comparte hasta el 70% de sus piezas con la versión 2018 de calle del WRX STI, cuyo lanzamiento tuvo lugar ayer en el mercado japonés.

Gracias a la excelente ingeniería aplicada a los Subaru de producción que emplean motores bóxer desde 1966, tracción integral permanente simétrica desde 1972 y destacan por su elevada rigidez torsional, la base de partida para desarrollar un excelente vehículo de competición rápido y fiable está asegurada, siendo el eficaz sistema de tracción un elemento fundamental para afrontar con seguridad, el difícil recorrido del infierno verde sean cuales sean las cambiantes condiciones climatológicas. El WRX STI afronta la carrera de este año con un completo paquete de mejoras en las siguiente áreas:

MOTOR STI ha creado una nueva división de Tecnología aplicada a la competición para extraer información del coche del pasado año y supervisar sus divisiones de Motor, Ingeniería y Experimentación con Eiji Tatsumi antiguo Director general del equipo, como asesor técnico.

Siendo la competición el banco de pruebas empleado por Subaru para evolucionar sus tecnologías diferenciales, el motor empleado deriva de la estricta serie, y se basa en el legendario bloque EJ207 que ofrece 340 caballos y 461 Nm de par.

El pasado año, la normativa de la categoría SP3T, obligó a los participantes a reducir el diamétro de la brida de admisión. Con el objetivo de minimizar la perdida provocada por esta medida, STI ha mejorado la eficiencia de la combustión optimizando las partes internas del motor y aumentando el ratio de compresión. Además ha rediseñado el colector de escape y empleado un turbo single scroll para mejorar la rapidez en la entrega de par y potencia.

CAJA DE CAMBIOS Y TRANSMISIÓN A diferencia del año pasado, STI ha creado unas levas en el volante para facilitar a los 4 pilotos su trabajo en el cambio de marchas, han reducido el desarrollo de grupo final para mejorar la aceleración, y revisado a fondo las transmisiones y el control del diferencial central.

AERODINÁMICA

Una de las áreas fundamentales en un circuito tan largo y complejo como el infierno verde es la eficiencia aerodinámica, por este motivo, el equipo ha mejorado la carga especialmente en la parte delantera con el empleo de un conjunto paragolpes-capó más afilado, el alerón delantero y fondo plano se han rediseñado, y las tomas de admisión y refrigeración del motor y de los pasos de rueda son más grandes. En la parte trasera, hay ligeros retoques en el difusor. Por otra parte, con el fin de aumentar la cantidad y calidad de aire disponible para los pilotos, se ha rediseñado la entrada de aire al habitáculo.

CHASIS

Para mejorar el comportamiento del coche, los ingenieros de STI han aumentado la distancia entre ejes, el ancho de vía trasero y el recorrido de la suspensión delantera. Los neumáticos Falken empleados incorporan también un nuevo compuesto para aumentar su resistencia al desgaste, mejorar el agarre en curva y permitir al WRX STI mantener la mayor regularidad posible en los tiempos por vuelta. Además se ha aumentado la rigidez de multitud de componentes, mejorado el reparto de pesos y modernizado la electrónica del coche.

Tras el shakedown del coche en el circuito de Fuji el pasado mes de marzo, el piloto Hideki Yamanouchi ha destacado “la mejora del comportamiento y balance general del coche es muy significativa”

La importante actualización del coche de este año, será muy necesaria para hacer frente a los nuevos competidores en la categoría y al legendario circuito de Nürburgring, cuyos 25 kilómetros y 170 curvas son un gran desafío para los coches y los pilotos.

El equipo de este año mantiene en su dirección tanto a su jefe Shigeo Sugaya de STI, como al plantel de pilotos que han conseguido las dos últimas victorias, compuesto por Carlo van Dam (Holanda), Marcel Lasée (Alemania), Tim Schrick (Alemania), and Hideki Yamauchi (Japón).

Como viene siendo habitual, 6 de los mecánicos encargados de la puesta a punto del coche durante la carrera han sido seleccionados directamente de la red de concesionarios oficiales de Subaru en Japón. Hasta la fecha, más de 300 concesionarios japoneses han participado en la iniciativa.

How are ROs like when theyre mad or angry?

Sterling: Stern anger. Practically radiates the 'I'm not mad, just disappointed' energy, like a parent or teacher scolding misbehaving children.

Romero: Passionate anger. Gets really emotional and will either hit back with equally scathing words or break down and cry.

Zhang: Quiet anger. The only difference in facial expression most will catch is the narrowed coldness of their eyes.

Falken: Repressed anger. Swallows it down and keeps a smile on their face, no matter how forced. But expect a lot of passive-aggressiveness going forward.

Also, as these are just generalizations, who knows what it would take for the ROs to break the mold (Or if they've already had in the past...)

Hi!! I just wanted to say I've been following this blog for a while and the progress you've made in terms of writing and development are astounding! You seem so much happier with the content you're putting out and it's so nice to see it.

That being said, if it isn't a bother, could I ask how the ROs would react to an MC who likes to stand close to them/hold their arm/hand in public because they get nervous/anxious? If you're not taking RO requests/aren't comfortable answering this feel free to ignore!

(I’m going to assume this to be in the crushing stage)

Sterling: Will be a bit surprised at the sudden presence or hold, but would otherwise tell you that’s it’s alright and you can stay close for as long as you need. You don’t miss the softening of their expression when they say thank you for trusting them with this.

Romero: Sure they don’t mind if it’ll make you feel better, but then who’s going to help them? You being so close is making them sweat bullets and feel like their heart is going to beat out of their chest. 

Falken: Not only will they be okay with letting you get close to them, but they’ll do whatever they can to make you feel not as nervous/anxious anymore (You have a say in this too of course) The fond smile on their face doesn’t leave the entire time.

Zhang: They don’t say anything as you get close other than give you a quick flicker of their eyes to your direction. They don’t tell you to go away either. Though you notice that for someone who’s not the most sociable, they do make sure to direct people’s attention towards themselves instead of you.

Name facts? Well then I'll see what I can do!

Sterling:

- Their first name was given to them by the matrons of the (catholic) orphanage they were left in. And then they got a last name after being adopted.

- The full name they have in the end is Micah/Miriam Gabriel Sterling

Romero:

- Their moms simply named them after their grandparents, and since it was tradition in the family.

- Their full name is Elias/Eloise Santana Romero

Falken:

- Their parents were too busy to come up with a list of potential names. And so after they were born they just opened up a baby name book to a random page and chose the first thing their finger landed on.

- Their full name is Pavel/Priscilla/Presley* Rune Falken

Zhang:

- They don’t have any interesting stories to share about their name, since their parents simply just named them that because they liked how it sounds haha.

How would ROs react if they go into a room and say somenthing like "sorry i'm late, I've been doing...things", but then the MC come in and says "I'm things"?

This ask and my answers is implied to be nsfw, so I’ll be labeling it as such to be safe!

Sterling: Would slightly smile and play along. But they’re good at hiding their jokes by acting around others like they’re oblivious and nothing just happened. “That was a weird sentence to say in the morning, MC. Are you still tired from last night?”  

Romero: Would whirl to face MC extremely warm in the face, and might just die on the spot from embarrassment. “MC, that-that was...” Though their mind is probably going ‘Yeah and you enjoyed it’ instead haha. 

Zhang: Hardly bats an eye. In fact, they readily agree along. “Yes, MC. You are.” They'd say bluntly, but could almost be seen as smug if one looked closer. 

Falken: Would dramatically play off being fake-betrayed “Oh MC, how could you reveal something so scandalous?” But in truth they’re rather impressed by your bold declaration. Proud, even.

Sterling: Would happily go along with the nail panting and manicures but feels a bit nervous with kisses on their hand. Not unwelcome to it of course, just...nervous.

Falken: Loves the idea of nail painting! Since they would sometimes do it to themselves sometimes it’s even better if MC joins in. Would also love hands kisses, and will gladly give it back to MC. 

Romero: They’ll end up liking the manicures after they refuse it at first, but won’t admit it lol. Gets flustered with the excessive hand kisses but will still do it back to you anyway.  

Zhang: A little unsure with the nail painting and stuff, but will go along with it for MC. They’re fine with the hand kisses, and in rare moments of privacy will get back on you.

Sorry this took me a while to answer! I wanted to make sure I did this justice haha. 

I’m pretty sure I’ll come back to this once I cement the ROs characters even more, but here! (Some of these I think I mentioned already in a separate ask a long time ago though…)

Sterling: Very in-tune with the emotional needs of their partner. For example, they can tell if the other person either wants comforting words or wants to just be left alone for a few moments.

Romero: In their free time, they sometimes like to write little poems about MC into their notebook, or maybe even do some light sketches of them. They’ll then gather up the courage to show it to MC.

Falken: Always wants to make sure that MC is eating/drinking/taking care of themselves and will go out of their way to remind them of such things.

Zhang: Is quick to learn MCs routine and of their likes/dislikes so they can plan their schedule accordingly and the time that’s spent with them is enjoyable.

48. Is your character easy to make cry? Or angry? Or annoyed? (Falken)

Falken isn’t shy to express how their really feeling on the outside. With anger though, it’s more a ‘not mad just disappointed’ kind of deal. Gentle but firm in tone much like a parent scolding their child. It takes a lot to get them to be really angry (see: the ROs reacting to getting punched in the face ask lol)

17. Who are they soft for? Do they find being soft easy or difficult? (Zhang)

The only ones they’ve been with where they let their stoic mask slip (so far) was with their parents and their cats. And being soft in general is a little on the difficult side, but of course they’ll still try in the moments and people that matter!

27. What are their opinions on children? Do they view children as sweet angels or evil crotch goblins? (Sterling)

Oh they absolutely love children! Even though they themselves never had a chance to experience a ‘true’ childhood, they still believe that all kids deserve to have a safe and supportive life with parents/guardians they can depend on!

They’re pretty skilled in a lot of things! Like, writing is their main skill because they were a journalist, so they know how to write reports and poems. They are great in sketching as well, being a hobby that they picked up. And from their family, they know how to garden, make handmade crafts, and singing!
