rambling about sk8 episode 8 (3/3) mega late renga edition

what the fuck its the third time Im typing this out mc every time I close my laptop on this screen the whole post gets deleted I'm so tired of this baaaaaa

In this essay I will talk about how much Langa misses Reki and how this is expressed in episode 8. Langa is deeply affected by Reki’s absence, which makes sense bc they are best friends. 

despite the tournament happening all around him, reki is the only thing on Langa’s mind. He asks around if anyone has seen reki, and constantly looks out for reki. Langa feels guilty bc he thinks he’s the reason why Reki is ghosting him, which is only partially true. He thinks that because he didn’t keep the promise between him and Reki to not participate in the tournament, Reki is mad at him. My heart aches for him bc he doesn’t understand why he’s being ignored, because the both of them don’t know how to effectively communicate with each other. 

guysss look at how his eyes light up when he thinks Reki has returned! He looks overjoyed!!! but no its just Ad*m. 

WAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHH like seriously im gonna cry he misses reki so much. 

Also, I don't have pictures, but Reki not being there has a huge impact to how Langa skates. Langa in this episode almost crashes into multiple people while going at rapid speeds. Usually, Reki is there to be the voice of reason, and is there to make sure Langa and the others are safe. Reki’s the one who taught Langa all the tips and tricks about skateboarding, so it would make sense that he would also keep Langa in check. They need each other. Langa is too focused on the thrill of skating since he’s an adrenaline junkie, and Reki is here to keep him grounded.

AUUUUGGUGNFDIKNDIBVIDNJ this is SO IMPORTANT bc renga break up happened on a rainy night! So, rain is associated with Reki and Langa’s fight and separation. Langa wants it to be sunny, meaning no more rain. He wants to be friends with Reki again and for them to make up! im crbyyyyingnfknv Also, TOMORROW! He desperately wants to be friends again as soon as possible!

and I adore how ms hasegawa is a genuine caring mother and tries her best to look after Langa, she’s doing a fantastic job as a single mother and I love her sm. She gives Langa really astute advice which actually helps with his problems! She’s attentive, and takes hims seriously. But funnily enough, she totally misreads the situation and thinks Langa is talking about his crush. And uhh... she says 好き, in the romantic context bc Langa BLUSHES and is EMBARASSED! And people still say it’s platonic 

but that's besides the point because Ms Hasegawa is the best mother Langa could ever ask for.

Meanwhile Reki is feeling terrible. He doesn’t answer Langa’s texts and is moping around at home. He has also been watching clips of Langa skateboarding and the way he compares himself to Langa’s insane progress is pretty relatable. It feels really demoralising to have the person you taught surpass you so quickly. Then reki sees a thing on tv about this dude supporting athletes and finding satisfaction in that. This leads to something in episode 9 which I'll talk about in a later post when I have time bc of school lol

All in all I dearly hope Reki and Langa make up and become friends again. And I would also like to clarify, Sk8 is in no way a BL. Romance was never the focus of this show. Sk8, to me, is about having fun skateboarding and about the friendships you make along the way. Yeah. Besides, not every romantic aspect has to be thrown in your face, subtlety is beautiful.

COVERHEADS
 en vivo en THE ROXY LIVE

VIERNES 16 DE AGOSTO

Coverheads se presentará el próximo viernes 16 de agosto a la medianoche en The Roxy Live (Niceto Vega 5542, CABA) para mostrarnos en vivo su nuevo single y tocar todos los clásicos de siempre.

La apertura de la noche estará a cargo de la banda 202 y las entradas estan a la venta en www.allaccess.com.ar y en la boletería del lugar.

Recientemente la banda presentó el videoclip “Leni”, filmado bajo la dirección de Sol Campanella en la Ciudad de Potrerillos (Mendoza) en pleno corredor andino con imágenes del paisaje natural y el espejo de agua que nos brinda su lago, intercalado con momentos del show en vivo que brindó la banda en el Arena Maipú de la misma ciudad como grupo invitado en los shows de  Slash & Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators por Argentina.

El tema fue grabado en ZAR Studios bajo la dirección de Damián Colaprette (ingeniero técnico del grupo) como así también en la mezcla y mastering, sumándose a la producción artística junto Daniel Chino y Walter "Chupete" Ramírez y la producción ejecutiva a cargo de Level Music.

SOBRE COVERHEADS

COVERHEADS es una banda Argentina de Rock que comenzó en el 2010 siendo la house band en las prestigiosas fiestas “Glamnation” en The Roxy Live Bs.As. donde cada edición era una auténtica celebración del Rock por excelencia.

En 2015 editaron su 1er disco “Rock 5 estrellas” donde versionaron al español diferentes clásicos de grandes bandas emblemáticas del Rock n’ Roll, con invitados de lujo como Walter Giardino, Ciro Pertusi y Phil Lewis de L.A. Guns en diferentes canciones, en 2017 editaron su 2do disco “1000 Vidas” por el sello Level Music con distribución y producción de Sony Music Argentina con material completamente propio en el cual participaron Gustavo “Chizzo” Napoli de La Renga en el tema “Billy the Kid” y Pato Sardelli de Airbag en la canción “Cada vez que te vas” y en el 2018 se edito solo en plataformas digitales el disco en vivo “Rock Sí” grabado en directo durante la presentación Oficial de “1000 Vidas” en The Roxy Live Bs.As.

COVERHEADS está formado por Carucha Podestá en voz, Germán Tripa en voz, Daniel Chino en bajo, Gaby Zero en guitarras, Walter Ramírez en guitarras, Sergio Dukke en batería y pablo Mantiñan en teclados.

En estos años compartieron escenarios en diferentes venues y ciudades con artistas internacionales de renombre como Guns n Roses, Slash & Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, The Cult, Aerosmith y Whitesnake entre otros.

En mayo de 2019 protagonizaron una gira junto a Slash & Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators con la que recorrieron las ciudades de Santiago de Chile, Mendoza y Córdoba, finalizando en el Estadio GEBA de Bs. As.
