Imma keep this rant short because it's 6:30 am and I'm tired.

Killing off your characters after they finish their arc is bad storytelling.

First we got Twice: he got over his phobia of cloning himself and saw the league as his family. Only to die not too long after that.

Now Toga: She and Ochako finally unite and Ochako finds her cute (I ship TogaOcha btw), only to give in to her temptations and stab Ochako, but saving Ochako's life by Toga giving her all of her blood and (presumably) dying.

If the message is "villains don't need to die, they need to be treated fairly too, they're just like us", then Horikoshi is certainly pissing in that cereal. Killing off characters after their usefulness is done. He's raising them like pigs for slaughter.

I know it's his story and he can do whatever he wants, but who wants to see a character they love and connect with die? It's like Horikoshi is giving out the message that if you have mental issues, you deserve to die regardless of your redemption.

This is why I can't stand canon BNHA. The message is not being followed and he kills off characters once they're useless instead of letting them live happy or at least keeping them alive.

At least villains in other stories finish their arcs and get to live, like Naruto, She-Ra, Adventure Time, and many more. I'm sure Marvel and DC, in all their years of publishing, have a few. You'd know, right Kohei?

Please don't think I hate Horikoshi, I don't. I have the utmost respect for him and I love his work. I just feel his storytelling skills aren't that great and he doesn't follow through with his messages that well. For that, I'm blaming the pressure from his publisher pushing his manga deadlines for the story issues. I truly believe that if he had more time and energy to focus on the story, then maybe it'd improve greatly and have no issues.

You're a neat guy and I love you and your work, Horikoshi. I just feel a lot of things and need to let them out.

Moon Knight Episode 6 Spoilers Ahead!

Oh my gosh this episode was amazing! The following is in no particular order, but I’m very excited.

The Marc and Steven reunion was everything I could have wanted and more. They need each other and it’s so good to see them acknowledge that.

Layla doing everything but flipping Khonshu off for his offer is absolutely delightful. The pure energy of “No??? Why would I do that?” It’s unmatched. She’s so smart and stubborn I love it.

Speaking of- Layla as an avatar of Tawaret? Stunning, look at these girlbosses GO!!! Her wings are beautiful!!! It was amazing to see her kick ass!

I’m so glad she got to have a trope-y superhero “saving the kid” moment oh my god

I know that Steven and Marc’s switching is very dramatized and unrealistic but character wise, for this fictional portrayal, and for a story perspective it’s so, so cool to see them figure this out, to see them be so slick and on the same page?

Similarly! Steven kicked absolute ASS this episode! (Not that he hasn’t in the past) Negotiating with Khonshu a bit sassily, fighting pretty well, sussing out Dr. Harrow? He was on a roll tonight and I’m so glad for him, he needed a couple of wins.

In other news I’m very bummed that the other avatars died. I know we didn’t see too much of them, but they seemed like fascinating hot characters and it sucks to think they’re gone so quickly after being introduced.

Steven and Marc bickering was so lovely to see too- it’s very clear from their tones and energy that it’s so much of a different dynamic now- there’s no bite to any of the words, they appreciate each other and their differences. Their growth is practically tangible and it’s really sweet to see.

So glad that we as a fandom latched onto A Man Without Love and we got to hear it return for the finale. Delightful.

Oh, and of course… Him. I’m really pleased that we only got a teaser- I feel like anything else would have cheapened the story they were telling with Marc and Steven, and it wouldn’t have done Jake justice either to be thrown in at the last minute. It’s nice to see a show that’s willing to leave a couple of loose ends like that, where it leaves room to explore a second season, but also to wonder where the story might go after that.

All in all for the show as a whole I’m so glad it was made. I’m a white, non-Jewish singlet, and I know from my own knowledge and from reading what people in those groups have said that this show wasn’t perfect. But I think it was a really big step in the right direction and I’m so, so glad that it exists. It was a wonderful, captivating watch and yet I’m not really sad that it’s over, just… grateful it was made.
