// For days when it aches, For nights that last long plaguing the mind, For moments when you're running away, For hours spent trying to make sense, Use Patience: Our oldest product that doesn't need advertising. But rather needs reminding— To be used amply on days, nights, moments and hours. When the heart seems resting on the sea bed, When the mind jumps into whirlwinds to save memories from loss, When hands don't know what to do, When legs shake, Use Patience: Our tried-and-tested product you already have on your shelf But you're rather lost in grieving— To remember to drink it all but in small sips throughout the day And the night, or rather until you're out of your plight. Keep drinking, eating, resting and living with our product Patience: The results don't bring your grandfather back Nor help you find reason to some problems Nor make the solution appear faster Nor bring that treacherous lover back; reformed and ready to love you again, Nor help you bear a child inside. We guarantee that none of these will happen, But you'd sail through Be out of this tunnel Make your lost one in Heaven prouder Eat the meal you must to bring solace to the one concerned Stand up stronger (As if after crouching in fear strengthens the muscles) And help you decide the end of an era. Patience: Costs courage, reason, and grudges. // Sameeka Sahban //Patience™// #NaPoWriMo #napowrimoxnidhscraps #napowrimokommune #napowrimo2019 #poetry #poemsporn #writersofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv4IiYFBzoA/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1oknnopsb10lt

14419. Daylight Savings
14419. Daylight Savings | Based on the #NaPoWriMoxNidhScraps prompt: 'Imagine you could bottle sunshine. What would you taste if you had a sip?' | I've always been fascinated with glass bottles, so I used them to pour a little streetcorner alchemy. Don't be fooled by the title; appearances can be deceiving.
There’s an old lady sitting on the corner of the street.
She appears at dawn and is gone at dusk.
‘Hag‘, ‘crazy‘, ‘witch‘. All whispers that float past her.
Still, she smiles.
She has no one to keep her company except a small, piping bird,
And rows of glass bottles.
They say she spins curses. Sells them for a few cents- and by ‘cents’ they mean ‘centuries’, of course.
They say she can put a hex…

Apr 18. Write a haiku about happiness #NaPoWriMoxNidhScraps // #Escapril 18: How did the sky look? // #cgcprompts (from @cgcpoems): Write a poem where the title is a question and the final line of the poem is its answer
“How Did the Sky Look?”
The day we went out
The world let go of the breath
It held so tightly
,
Everyone embraced
There was laughter that echoed
All around the streets
,
We gave praise, gave thanks
We remembered those who cared
And we raised a glass
,
We laughed and we cried
All we chose to celebrate
We did together
,
Knowing we survived
Honouring those who hadn’t
We spread love instead
,
An unspoken rule
Collectively decided:
Share kindness, always
,
We took our deep breaths
Remembered our beating hearts
The sky looked like hope

Apr 13. Everyone's baking! Write a recipe for yourself. Whatever you wish to make. Careful of the measurements! // #AmyKayPoetry: Write a poem that gives instructions.
Take:
Two tonnes of familial love, to every three parts of love
One dose of wit, a splash of creativity
One cup of humour, a bushel of laughter (Maybe two)
Three tablespoons of kindness (Tempered with a handful of common sense)
Half a cup of intellect, a dash of inquisitiveness
A pinch of jealousy, one teaspoon of self doubt
A spark of magic
Combine, mix well
Fold, whisk
Work
Leave to settle
Leave
Give:
Your undivided attention
Keep an eye on the clock
Watch the heat
Bring to a boil gently (gently)
Remember: the same water that hardens the egg
Softens the rice
Take: Time
Give: Patience
Receive: Life

Day 1: Prompt: sunshine
//Cracks//
A man I loved dearly,
Who died recently had once said "There's a crack in everything  And that's how the light gets in"
And I wonder
Defeatedly, whether the cracks in my soles are letting in the light, Or did the muck and the age, scare it away. When I was born, the cracks in me  Were full of life and skin, Giggles and songs, And the light in me Blinded everyone
All my fire exits leading me back to me,
I was the home, with the porch light on, I was the one who opened the door
Where is the light I wonder now?
Was it too bright? when I was young. I thought I was the sun, the core of the earth, gravity I could bump and burp through blisters and burns, I could falter and trip, but i would still fit within myself And then the cracks begin to appear perfectly parallel perpendicular chandigarh lanes, On my forehead,
chiffon saree like creases,
On my arms and cheeks When I slept curled in a corner  Sweltering in the Delhi heat On my knees and my elbows When I rolled off sand dunes onto concrete roads,
And those cracks threw out light
Like a solitary torch in a jungle Helping you see your next step but not what's behind you The light fell out, Like money from my wallet, And lies from my mouth my tongue began to crack with the weight of my words  shoulders began to droop, like icecream under the sun. All the light fell out  All the light came in  I tried to open the windows, But the dust settled there  Made it difficult to see Or breathe.
Never thought they could keep the lights out
Or the words in. Never thought we would grow so big, that we would feel small
I'm now, the wire mesh door, which lets the light in but the flies out
And everyonce in a while, someone leaves me open
It's so easy to fill cracks and pretend as though they don't exist,
But you can always feel their rough edges. #napowrimoxnidhscraps #napowrimo (at Kanyakumari, India)

National Poetry Writing Month, Day02, Prompt: An inanimate object in your room Earphones : (People often ask me, how did it start? How did you guys meet? It started with music. You got all the pauses in my favourite song right and then you laughed at your own joke. )
-----
You and I are like earphones Tangled, pulling you down Twisted, letting you go Tied together, while in bags and butt pockets Hitting cigarettes and loose change Privy to voice notes and each other's brain Ear wax and fingertips Crossing us over. Stringing us together in more ways than one. Somedays you talk, and i am full of cracks, Disturbances, Beatless bass, Repeating the same 'nothing happened' breathlessly, thoughtlessly Like an album on repeat, you throw questions at me All my answers inaudible.
Till you turn the plug and we're tangled again, Sounds and sighs, a common language but who wants to talk?
On other days You and I Strung together, Tightly, in a knot so intangible That fingers and words can't pull us apart So we're plugged in or thrown out Together Legs on arms, arms on heads Finger nails writing music on your palms, Tickles down my back And the only thing we echo is laughter.
You and I are like tangled earphones, You pull at me, I let you go You twist me around, you scoop me up Fingers and nails around wires in vain They can only separate us so much. We are fixed together, Some days by choice, Others by luck But as always Layers, bumps Crossing us over. Stringing us together in more ways than one.
On some days, we are in sync Rhythm in one ear, harmony in the other Two ends of the earth, But just as cold You might be the polar bear to my penguin, But our homes are still melting. Somedays, we are tangled together And different people want parts of us, So we are stretched, pulled, In directions opposite, Stuck together, ruining the music. Weakening the roots.
Then again We're next to each other, Forging happiness and sounds in butt pockets and bags, Wax ridden ears, Touching bones and hair, Scratching your neck Tickling your chin Tangled, sleepy, Full of echoes
If you stop singing, I will lose my voice. If they throw you out, I'll come with you.

Apr 12. Write a love letter to your crush, significant other, ex- whoever you have keeping your words aside for #NaPoWriMoxNidhScraps // #Escapril 12; Submerged in water
The world turned upside down / There's something dramatic in that / But not really / Ever heard of refraction? / Light bending through something / Like water / Light travels all the way through it / Until it forgets which way is up / And voila
The world turned upside down / The water knows no better / A love affair leaving light so head over heels / That everything is a little off-centre after that / One interaction / Forever changed / What's it like? / To bend light? / People crane to see you / But walk straight pass you / Turn to look / A trick of the light / A double take / Refraction
The world turned upside down / And I am underwater

12419. It burns
12419. It burns Based on the prompt 'What does anger taste like?' from #NaPoWriMoxNidhScraps I've been made aware that it is National Poetry Writing Month. So, I guess it's the perfect time to come back to blogging and write some poetry. As for writing poetry for the whole month... we'll see how it goes.
It burns
Doesn’t it?
That molten flow that surges from within
Erupting, spewing, gushing from your mouth
Your coughs cracking into magma
Harden into igneous growls
Can you feel the soot
Staining your lips?
It settles on your tongue
Parched and dry
Every breath fills your lungs with ash
I can’t imagine the pain
Scalding to your core
You’ve held it for so long
Skin hardening to granite
Tectonic…
