Jackie in Japan - Highway Bus
So, I went to Nagasaki the other day. It was a lot of fun, but now I'm completely drained, so I'm taking a day off. Trouble is, even if I know I won't make it through the week if I don't do this, I still feel very guilty.
At any rate, I got a few things to talk about, and I have decided to start with the beginning. Usually, that's the best place to start. So, I went with my buddy as it was her parents who invited me to visit their hometown. We took the highway bus. I have never taken that before, and probably will never do it again, not because it was a bad experience, but because I'm not sure I could do it by myself.
Well, anyway, so we arrive at the bus terminal closest to us, in Tenjin. My buddy has reserved a couple of seats for us, so we go and get the tickets. Then we wait. We still have over 20 minutes before our bus leaves, so we wait for a bit.
The terminal is basically a long hallway with seats here and there, like a station or an airport. There are several bus stops, I think at least five. We were at the fourth and I heard the fifth being announced over the speakers. That's another thing. There are speakers announcing when every single bus leaves, which had me think of a big train station.
After 20 minutes, our bus arrived and we boarded. We went to the back and got our seats. They were quite comfortable. There are curtains in the bus as you can sleep, and it seems there is a toilet too. That's a good thing as it is about a 2 hour ride to Nagasaki. My buddy and I both spent the time sleeping.
When it was time to get off and our stop was announced, it seems there were 3 stops in Nagasaki, we pressed a button and the bus stopped to let us off. We had a bit of luggage, so we went and told the driver this and he opened the trunk for us as we could get it. Then it was all over.
As I said, I'll talk more about this. I have one or two more posts to share, so that'll be out in a few days.
Also, I'm going to Kyoto next weekend to see a friend, so I might post something about that too, if there's anything interesting to share.

Nagasaki at night. This is one of 3 famed night views in Japan. The others are Kobe/Osaka seen from Rokko mountain and Hakodate in Hokkaido.
The Nagasaki view is reputed to resemble the Milky Way spanning the night sky.

Photo of the Day: Yakitori in Nagasaki
My trip to Nagasaki was wonderful I stopped off for Yakitori for dinner one night. I am not really a foodie, so if I remember food that tells you something. I had 2 foods that I remember very clearly. The first was buttered potato. It was so sweet I couldn’t believe it. I had to ask the guy if sugar or honey was added to the butter. I was told it was just butter and potato. He went on to say the…
