WAKANDA FOREVER SPOILERS
Tumblr media
(Y/n) did her best to stay out of this conflict. She is a neutral ground between Wakanda and Talokan. But this changed once Nakia killed one of the Talokanil people. It's the final battle now. She watched as Shuri flew off with Namor towards the desert nearby. Despite not interfering she is Namor's friend, the man she had fallen in love with years ago yet (Y/n) he would never love someone like her. She soon followed after them. The female glanced down eyes widening as she watch the scene unfolding. "WAKANDA FOREVER!" Shuri yelled. The explosion was fast but (Y/n) is faster. The female dove down instantly placing a shield around Namor. Her body was burning it was a pain unlike any she felt before. (Y/n) only had time for one shield and Namor knew that. His eyes widen screaming her name as he turned enough to see the fire die. The shield disappears and the female glanced up, "K'uk'ulkan..." Her dry lips whisper before collapsing into his arms.
Shuri rushed over towards them. "(Y/N)!" She cried.
"GET AWAY," Namor screamed anger in his eyes as the sea turned into a raging storm. "Go! I yield." He said turning back to (Y/n). The woman he loved, who used herself as a shield for him. His tears fall landing on her below.
-Time Skip-
(Y/n) groaned opening her eyes. She was on her stomach, back aching. "K'uk'ulkan!" Is the first thing which came to her mind. She sat up instantly looking around frantically. He cupped her face.
"Calm down ,In yakunaj (my love)."
"Y-your love."
"I-I almost lost you over this stupid war. You mean everything to me. You shouldn't have done that! Im not worth it."
"Yes you are! I would do it again if I had to!" She yelled. He pulled her into a deep kiss. (Y/n) closed her eyes tightly wrapping herself around him. "All I need is you."
"You will be my queen soon,(Y/n)."

⌯ pairing : shuri x fem!reader
⌯ warnings : wakanda forever spoilers. someone gets shot.
⌯ author's note : i apologize, again, if the script isn't accurate like what it said in the movie. i nay have made mistakes, but I'm trying to remember half the things that happened in the movie<\3 i currently don't have anything to rewatch wakanda forever on, so i can't watch what originally happened to make it more accurate. so like, just enjoy my own script for the meantime:)

Staying inside the lab, watching as Nakia shuffle around the interior, trying to get some sort of signal from Shuri's kimoyo beads. The woman insisted for you to just take care of yourself when you suggested to help, saying that she'll do everything herself.
You were starting to doze off on the counter, your eyes feeling exhausted just following around Nakias movements. Until you heard Nakia yell, surprising you.
"Nakia—? Is something wrong?" You stood up hurriedly. The wakandan woman had already jogged towards you, looking at you with such delighted relief.
"I found a signal of Shuri's kimoyo beads. I found her, (name)!" She enthusiastically yells. You gasped out, grinning widely in relief.
"Oh God, you did it!" You cheered, engulfing the woman in a tight hug. She chuckled, caressing your hair slightly.
"I've got to go now. I've got a princess and an American to save." She pulled away from the hug, smiling at you reassuringly. You nod, wiping the small tears that roll off your cheeks.
"Be safe, please." You muttered worriedly, clutching her arm when she placed an arm on your shoulder. She only gave you a reassuring smile, nodding.
She gave you one last hug before she went off, leaving you alone in the lab yet again. You stayed inside, anticipating for the return of your friend.
Tumblr media
"This (name) person sound coooool."
Shuri and the American, Riri Williams were talking to eachother to cure their boredom while they're stuck literally in an underground cave of a literal ocean.
"She is." Shuri agrees, a fond smile on her face.
"Even when you're kidnapped, you still manage to talk about this girl like there's no tomorrow." Riri says, humming in amusement.
"Well there's alot to talk about her. She's interesting and a very supportive friend. Even my mother is very fond of her." Shuri states, shifting in her seat in a more comfortable position.
Riri squints her eyes at the girl, looking at her suspiciously with a brow raised. "Hmm.. you talk to her very fondly with a smile on your face.. you openly admit she's interesting.. your mother practically loves her as her own.. hmm.." Riri hums, humming suspiciously.
Shuri looks at her in confusion. "What? Why are you humming so much? And what's with that look on your face?" She questioned incredulously, chuckling slightly.
Riri tuts, shaking a finger at the princess. "I can't tell if you're really close. Orrr.." the girl trails off, adding Shuri with anticipation, wanting to hear what the girl wants to say.
"Or?"
"Or if you have romantic feelings with her." Riri shrugs. The princess looks at her, shocked by her words. "What—? No, that's ridiculous." She refuses the idea, shaking her head.
Riri frowned, looking disappointed. "Oh, come on. You gave her a necklace." The girl says, throwing her hands up exasperatedly.
"It's just a necklace?" Shuri hums, tilting her head to the side. Yes, she was purposely acting dumb. She's thought about her feelings for you for awhile now, but she's just in denial. It seems wrong.
What if she really does have romantic feelings for you and it's not just some bestfriend thing?
What if she admits her feelings for you? It will ruin what she haves with you. You both are already so close, confessing herself to you will probably ruin your friendship.
She didn't want to give up the friendship you both built for so long just because of her selfish feelings.
"The way your face softens just at the mere mention of her name though? You can't tell me that's just friends to you." Riri shakes her head, muttering a 'nuh-uh' as she shook her index finger side to side.
Shuri let's out a sigh, burying her face on the palm of her hands. "I don't know Riri. Sometimes I feel like I do like her." Riri applauded dramatically at that, but Shuri have her a scolding look, making the latter shut up immediately.
"There's a but, isn't there?" Riri whispered to herself, and the princess continued.
"But I feel like she doesn't feel the same way. And I don't want to make our friendship awkward when I do end up confessing and she doesn't feel the same way." Shuri revealed. The girl listened intently, nodding with a hum.
"I see. I think you should just tell her. I mean, mean there's a possibility that we're gonna go to war with ocean people, so why not just go fuck it?" The girl jokes, earning a light glare from Shuri. Riri clears her throat awkwardly, turning away from the princess' glare.
"I'm kidding. But seriously, if you truly like her, you should tell her. You've been friends for a long time now, right?" Shuri nods at her question, and Riri continues. "I'm sure she'll understand even if she doesn't feel the same. It's better to let your feelings free than keeping it hidden for a long time." Says Riri.
"And if she does like you back, boom! You scored, you can thank me if I make it out alive." Riri waved a hand dismissively, chuckling at Shuri's amused smile.
"Yeah.. I'm gonna come clean and tell her. If I get the courage to." Shuri admits, making Riri let our a cheer of enthusiasm. "Yaass, despite being abducted by ocean people, we out here talking about our love livess." Riri hummed, chuckling slightly before letting out a surprised yelp a shot rang through the air.
Shuri immediately stood up, looking around cautiously until she saw Nakia coming from behind a rock.
"No!" Shuri sprinted into action, coming in between Nakia and the Talocan woman who had been shot.
"Shuri." Nakia calls out. The princess looked at behind her, eyes wide at the wounded talocan woman. "Shuri, we have to go!" Nakia yelled, grabbing the princess' forearm.
"No– you don't understand, this'll cause a war!" The princess yells, distressed. In the midst of her distress, Shuri didn't realize she was slowly being dragged out of the scene, her eyes lingering on the wounded woman with Riri following right in suit.
Tumblr media
You almost jumped off your seat when you saw Shuri show herself just as she stepped inside the lab. The seat flew itself backwards at your action, thudding against the white marble counters behind you.
You embraced her tightly, wrapping your arms around the top of her shoulders, your body pressing against hers as she wrapped her arms on your waist, savoring the feeling of your scent and warmth before you pulled away.
"(name)."
You sniffed when you heard your name roll off her tongue, slightly pulling away to look at her. "You fucking idiot. Why did you keep this mission from me? Did you know how worried I was?" You sniffed out, your throat tightening up when you saw her apologetic face.
"I know. I'm sorry, dearest, I should've told you." She whispers, pressing a long kiss on the side of your forheads temples as you continued to loudly sniffle with your arms around her.
Shuri unwrapped her arms from your waist, a hand coming in contact with your cheeks. She stared down at you with such intense affection and guilt, it made your head spin.
"I'm here now, okay? I'm never leaving your side ever again. I promise." She whispered, pressing her forehead against yours, listening to your sniffles quietly. You just nodded your head, unable to respond from how you were helplessly hiccuping.
Your gaze then landed on an unfamiliar black girl standing far behind Shuri, looking at the interior of the lab awkwardly, as if she was purposely trying to avoid looking at the both of you.
You let out a small chuckle, making Shuri look at you in confusion and turn to where you were looking at. Now realizing where you were looking at, she manages a small smile to form on her face.
Her hand stayed resting on your waist, slowly guiding you to the American.
"(name), this is Riri." Shuri gestured to the girl, watching as she waved at you with a tight smile. "Riri already knows who you are though so I suppose introducing you to her is useless." Shuri says. Riri waves a hand dismissively, looking at the princess blankly.
"Of course. The princess couldn't stop talking about you, (name). Even when we were in the middle of an underground cave of the ocean." Riri tells you. You looked at the princess beside you incredulously, your brows furrowed as Shuri looked at Riri as if it said 'Shut up, girl'.
"You were held captive in an underground cave of an ocean?" You questioned the princess. She turned to you, giving you a reassuring look. "We're fine now, love. I'm back home now."
"I'm not." Riri perks up, her hand raised at the princess' words. Shuri glares at her, hissing at her to stop.
"What? I just wanted to feel included." The girl shrugged innocently, trying to hide her smiles. But it was hard to when your chuckles already filled the silence, making her instantly light up a smile as well.
Riri put her hand she was raising lower, waving it as she began to walk out of the lab, confusing you.
"Well I've got to go. Princess over there still has some things to tell for her 'dearest'." Riri says, looking behind at the two of you with a playful wink. The door behind her shuts as soon as she stepped out, and you glanced at the princess with a questioning look.
"That girl can't keep things to herself, I swear." Shuri mutters.
"What was Riri talking about?" You questioned the princess straight to the point. You didn't want her to keep anymore from you again, but if Riri knows, it's probably not that serious.
Shuri looks at you reassuringly, giving you a closed tight lipped smile. "It's nothing, love. I'll tell you soon, but right now, we've got somethings to prepare for." She says, her comforting aura replacing with something more serious.
"For what?" You questioned again, but this time you were concerned.
"A war."

Request by: anonymous
Original Request: Imagine how Namor would react to seeing Reader defend Namor and the son she had with him when Nakia went to rescue Shuri and Riri.
Pairing: Namor x Talokanil!Reader
Word Count: 1,266
Warnings: N/A
A/N: I apologize but I don’t remember exactly the conversations that happened when Shuri and Riri were held as prisoners. I saw the movie 2 months ago so my memory is kind of blank but I also changed the plot to make it interesting.  I just hope you enjoy the story, nonnie! I had fun writing it 😉
Translations:
Wokol: Enter
In pixamech: My angel
In yakunaj: My love
Jump’éel tercio u bin yano’ob táan u yu’ulo’ob: A third of their kind is coming
______________________________________________________________
I looked down at my son, as he puckered his lips in deep contentment while I gently stroked his black hair. He resembled his father so much, I thought to myself as I chuckled at his attempt to reach for my fingers and bite at them. As I continued to play with him, I recalled the day when he had decided to enter this world. The sun was nearly setting and the people of Talocan were gathered around the Capital City, joining their hands together.
There was much about his birth that was truly auspicious.
He was born under the Twelfth Heavenly Abode when the Morning-star had risen at the peak of the sky or the planet Venus as these surface-dwellers had named it. This was especially significant as it was also the same day his father was born. K’ukulkan had described that the descendants of his mother’s tribe had told stories of my son’s special birth and had given him the name, Quetzalcoatl. In their honour and my husband’s, I accepted.
I sat up on the cushions of the chair, eliciting a sharp cry from my son. “Shh,” I soothed him, carefully keeping him at my breast and rubbing the small of his back. Suddenly, a distant rustle of sandals approaches my chambers and there was a soft yet urgent knock at the door.
“Wokol,” I announce and Izel, my maid, rushed in. Her features as pale as alabaster and her dark eyes held fright.
“My Lady,” she greeted, “the Wakandans have arrived. They are being held in the prisons near the King’s Cave. Though, there is no one in their attendance.”
I frowned at her words. “What of the King? He is not overseeing this matter?”
Izel momentarily hesitated, wringing her hands together, nervously before she replied. “That is right, my Lady. However, I fear that the prisoners may be plotting their escape as I heard of a third Wakandan arriving soon. Possibly to aid them in their escape.”
My lips twisted into a sardonic smile while holding up Quetzalcoatl in my arms. “Then it is only proper that we greet this newfound guest. Shall we go introduce ourselves and say hello, in pixamech?”
My son squeals and throws his hands up and I walked to Izel, placing him onto her arms as we walk out the door.
I held a basket of guavas, papayas, custard apples, and mamey, while Izel walked next to me with my son in her arms and the other servants brought the other snacks. As we approached the Wakandan prisoners, we placed the baskets down and I reached back for my son.
“What is all this?” One of them inquired.
“A few snacks.” I reply, with a quick calculating glance. “I thought you’d be hungry since you’ve come a long way and I’m sure you’re exhausted.”
“We haven’t come here as guests of the King, we were captured by your people and now, being held as prisoners.”
“Well, that could change if Wakanda decided to become allies with Talocan.” I approach the prison cells and look to the tall woman with the dark eyes and willowy neck. I smiled, “You must be Shuri, the Princess of Wakanda and heiress to its throne and your friend, Riri Williams, a surface-dweller.”
“I see you have been well informed,” Shuri says while her friend, next to her, rolled her eyes in pure annoyance.
“Just because I live in an underwater city does not mean I am oblivious as to what occurs in the Surface world.” I smiled sweetly, and suddenly, my son began to squirm in my arms. I look at him to see if he is alright but he is pointing behind me with a big grin gracing his face.
“In yakunaj,” I hear my husband’s voice and when I turned to see him, he held a look of bewilderment. “What is going on?”
“Jump’éel tercio u bin yano’ob táan u yu’ulo’ob,” I warn, ominously as my husband’s eyes travel to the prisoners. He moved towards them, each step echoing within the halls of the prison.
“I believe I have made a grave mistake in placing my trust in you.” K’ukulkan spoke, his voice becoming enraged by the second. Shuri narrowed her eyes while beside her, her friend shifted uncomfortably.
“We have done nothing -”
My husband snapped as the blood rushed to his face. “Oh, but you have. I hear that another one of your people is breaching the passage to my kingdom. I had truly thought we were coming to an understanding solely in the interest of our people but I have come to realize that all this had been fiction. You were simply feeding me lies and conspiracies to keep me from knowing your true intentions - to poison my kingdom.” K’ukulkan hissed in mock approbation.
“You are clearly mistaken,” a voice echoed through the halls. We all turn to face a woman in a chartreuse green armour holding ring blades. She looked between us and her face a mask of agony and anger. “We have not come to in the purpose of harming your kingdom. I can understand how you must be feeling. Wakanda was once the seat of complete power. Our supremacy was unchallenged. And now the King has died. As has the Queen Mother. ”
“And I’ve come here,” she continued, “for the sole purpose of taking the only heir to the throne back to Wakanda. With or without a fight, I will leave this kingdom with her.”
                                    •─────⋅☾ ☽⋅─────•
I quickly kicked the blade ring out of her hand and the Wakandan reached to coil her fingers around my throat and I lashed out instinctively with a sudden, hard punch to her face that made her rock backwards and let go of me. She winced in pain but charged towards me.
Though, before she could hit me, I aimed my fist for her again. This time she dodged my hit, grabbed my wrist, and threw me over her shoulder. I managed to turn the fall into a roll to escape her reach as my heart pounded in my ears. The pounding seemed to be almost enough to drown out Shuri’s shouts and my son’s cries as I blinked multiple times to clear my blurred vision.
Suddenly, she runs at me and in a quick and puzzling moment, got a hold of my leg to twist it, but before she could, I used my other leg to kick her down. As I did so, I grabbed her left ankle and yank her down to the ground. She landed hard and yelped in pain. Before she had a chance to stand, I grab her by the throat and slam her head against the ground.
The Wakandan’s eyes widen as she attempts to free herself but I ensured that she never got that chance.
“You should have thought twice before deciding to intrude my home.” I hiss as she began to choke for air and tears stream down her face. Something told me to look to my husband and when I did, I saw him with our son in his arms and an expression of pure shock crossed his features with a twinkle of admiration hidden behind his eyes. I loosen my grip around my enemy’s neck as she began to gasp for air and cough harshly. I look between her and Shuri and made a point in addressing them both.
“It’s come to my attention that you do not know who I am. I am (Y/N). Queen and High Priestess of the Talokanil and the Second-in-Command of the army of Talocan.”
This time, I turn my attention to the intruder as she rises to her feet, still gasping for air. “Your kingdom may be crumbling but I refuse to let you destroy mine.”

They were outsiders and even if Namor tried to reassure his people that they could be useful and help the situation, you couldn’t help but to distrust them. Namor tried to coerce you to make them feel safe as if Talokan was their home but you couldn’t. You just couldn’t do that but you force yourself to at least be hospitable and offered them one of the best qualities of Talokan, acceptance.
The elder woman wanted to use the kids to help them feel comfortable, wanted the kids to offered them food and company but you refused completely. You didn’t want them to be in the middle of something that could turn bad in any moment.
You grabbed the plate of fruit and adjusted your mask before you swam to the cave he was holding them captive. You sighed as you step outside of the waters, trying to shake off the feeling that something bad was about to happened. You nodded at the two women who stared at you with a bit of wariness. You nodded at them before walking slowly and showing them the plate of fruit.
“My king does not want you to be hungry.” The words were burning on your mouth at how you addressed him but Namor asked you to be careful, not wanting them to know the status of your relationship. “Please.” Your hands gently offered the plate of fruit. To be honest, you were a bit proud of it as you cut it yourself.
You saw how they debated to accept your offering, you wanted to smile, at least they were wary of you.
“Your English is good.” One of them took a step closer to examinate the plate before taking a piece of fruit. “I thought Namor was the only one that spoke English around here.”
Your face remained serene, a tiny smile adorned it. So he tell them to call him Namor. “I wanted to learn.” You stated.
“That’s cool, name’s Shuri.” She offered her hand for you and you stared at her in confusion. “Oh right, forgot you don’t have the same customs that we do, sorry.”
“Do not worry about it.” You nodded in understanding. “Your friend is not hungry?”
Shuri turned to the other woman who were staring at them. “No, she’s not, but thank you for everything.”
Everything happened really fast, one moment you were standing in front of the princess and the next one you were on the floor, a knife on your stomach and the princess escaping, you managed to threw the knife and hurt one of them, you didn’t know who as the blood was rushing out quickly.
You couldn’t help but curse as your hands began trembling, trying to rip a piece of your dress to held it against your wound. You didn’t know who found you, but you felt the hands of your lover on your face.
“Máax beet le ba'ala'?” Who did this? Namor force your eyes to meet his, he noticed how they were blinking slowly.
“It is deep.” You responded, not really knowing in what language you were speaking. “I-I tried.”
“You did good, in yakunaj.” He kissed your forehead, ordering something to the others. “I saw the blood closer to the water, you did good.”
“I am sorry I could not stop them.” You whispered, feeling the cold of the cave. “I tried.”
“I know.” He kissed you again. “I know, I will take care of it now.”

#1
[MONDAY AFTERNOON]
Her smooth silk brown skin glistens
under the sunlit illuminated windows
as the water trickles
down her broad shoulders
to her god-crafted muscles,
flexing with every step they take
ever
so
slightly
out the pool.
Their chest heaving,
a slightly tired
yet heavy gaze
as they skim around the room at their peers,
eyes landing on one particular figure
with a similar look in their eye.
Her stoic demeanor is slowly replaced
with a playful smirk as she eyes...
wait…
SHE’S LOOKING AT ME-
SHIT!
Shuri snaps out of her internal monologue, jumping from the huge glass that peered into the school’s aquatic center, and quickly bolts through the double doors that lead to the hallway. When she’s out of sight, she slumps over, catching her breath. “Wow, Ms. Nakia would have either granted me an A+ or sent me to the principal’s office with the type of words I was thinking,” Shuri chuckles to herself.
After a brief pause at her words, her face heats up as she quickly facepalms in shame.
“What the hell am I saying?”
Reluctant, she trudges down the hall in embarrassment, making her way to the place she considered her third home: the science building computer lab (her second home was chemistry lab 2b).
In there resides Peter Parker and Ned Leeds, sitting around a desktop clicking away at some first-person shooter game, with an unwavering MJ Watson sitting a couple of seats away from the boisterous boys, head in a book per the usual. All three teens lined up in typical geeky fashion. Shuri slumps her book bag over a computer table, the sudden noise breaking the immersion of the boys who then looked up from their game, spotting the presence of their purple-clad friend.
“Dude, what have you been doing all this time?” Ned scowls. “We didn’t have any clubs today and we’ve been waiting for you for the past twenty minutes to walk to that new milk tea cafe MJ’s been telling us about.”
Not lifting her head from her book, MJ snarkily remarks, “She’s probably been too busy ogling the crap out of that poor girl over at the aqua center.”
Shuri’s face heats up as she’s quick to defend herself. “Cut it out! Of course I wasn’t!”
MJ smirks, still not looking up from her book. “Sorry, lemme rephrase that better: she’s probably been too busy eye fucking the crap out of that poor girl over at the aqua center.” Blood rushes through Shuri’s cheeks as she sputters incompressible excuses from her mouth, MJ giggling at her discomposure from her book.
“You’re such a mess, Shuri! When are you gonna finally buckle down and rizz her up– or at least go up and talk to the girl instead of borderline stalking her almost every afternoon?” Peter playfully pokes the purple-clad.
Shuri sucks her teeth, swatting him away. “One: the word ‘rizz’ sounds extremely uncanny coming out of your mouth. Please refrain from using that word around me again.”
Collective snorts bounce off the embarrassed white teen whose shit-eating grin twists into a poker face.
“Two: I don’t eye Y/N almost every afternoon.” Shuri pshaws and waves everyone off.
“Oh, my bad!'' Peter dramatically gasps, slapping a hand over his chest. “It’s every morning, lunch break, assembly, dinner break, class transition, and EVERY afternoon.” Collective snickers break out as Shuri backhands Peter, not harshly, but hard enough to derive a strained “ack!” out of him.
“But seriously, Shuri, it’s about time you try and get this girl’s number.” MJ goes on, finally looking up from her book and putting it on the table spine up. “It’s no use for you to keep on hopelessly pining after this girl from afar and not putting in the effort to actually pursue her.” Shuri slumps into a chair and releases an exasperated sigh.
“I do, but what would a versatile and talented girl want with a one-trick pony nerd like me?” MJ visibly cringes at the purple-clad’s words. “Ewww man, this isn’t the 80s! We are NOT living in a Disney Channel sitcom. There’s a lot of people would go for somebody as smart and intelligent as you, you know that.”
“Yeah, maybe to do their homework for them,” Shuri retorts. MJ pauses. “Hmmm, now that claim, I won’t completely disagree with...” “MJ!” Ned dramatically gasps as he lightly slaps MJ on the shoulder.
“Don’t listen to her, Shuri. You are perfectly capable of winning Y/N over just the way you are.”
The purple-clad snickers. “Now THAT was something you could’ve sworn was straight out of a Disney Channel sitcom.”
About 15 minutes later, the eccentric group of teens close up the computer lab and continue down the hallways with milk tea on their minds… except for Shuri. She trails behind the bunch, head hung low, peeping at Y/N’s Instagram.
As her walking gets slower as she’s gaping at her phone, the coil-haired nerd brushes her shoulder against what she thinks is just a wall. She lifts her head to notice the shorter, dark, and gorgeous swimmer— the same one on her phone that she still had in open view.
“Oh! Whassup, Miss Shuri!” Y/N’s eyes light up as he greets the taller.
Shuri’s breath hitches at the lovely emphasis put on her name, blood running cold as she quickly checks her peripheral to make sure the gang wasn’t around to humiliate her more than she already was.
Meanwhile, the teens heard what was going on behind them, but chose to continue on their merry way, intentionally leaving the two alone in the middle of the hallway.
She looks back at the short athlete and returns the greeting with a bashful smile. “What brings you here, Y/N?” The nerd quickly asks in a desperate attempt to carry the conversation, forgetting that people don’t need a reason to just roam the halls, something she mentally facepalms herself for right after.
“Nothin’ much,” Y/N chuckles at Shuri’s nervous efforts. “I’m just coming out of my swim practice. Mr. Namor was runnin’ me dry today.”
The athlete pauses as if she’s recalling something, the corners of her mouth slowly curling into a knowing smirk.
“I saw you peeping me over at the center earlier,” she drawls, “figured you wanted to speak to me about somethin’?” The athlete’s tongue subtly swipes across her bottom lip, as she gazes up at Shuri with a particular look in her eye, irises occasionally shifting down to the open Instagram page still on her phone, waiting for an excuse.
It was enough for the poor nerd to melt into a puddle, knees buckle and collapse, and lay sprawled across the hallway floor right then and there, but luckily for her, she still possessed a pinch of dignity left within her. With fleeting composure, gripping her backpack strap with strain, Shuri gives a weak pshaw.
“Me? I was just passing by! I just really like watching the team…”
You…
“...practice.”
As Shuri desperately attempts to form more words that can potentially save her, her eyes flicker to a *very convenient* bulletin board behind the shorter athlete. There, plastered on the brown surface was a poster: “CALLING FOR NEW MEMBERS! Swim Team Tryouts This Thursday at 5 pm! Swim Your Way To Success!”
Oh, Bast…
“In fact, I’m thinking of trying out for the swim team myself,” the nerd straightens up and states proudly, hoping she masked the way she winced at her words.
Y/N, who was expecting a different answer, gapes at the helpless girl in slight shock. “Oh, for real? That’s crazy! I never pegged you as a swimmer, Shuri.”
The nerd’s mouth forms a goofy grin. “And why is that?” She dramatically slaps a hand on her chest. “Is it because I’m of the darker persuasion?”
This derives a hearty cackle out of the shorter athlete, Shuri’s stomach fluttering from the fact that she made the girl laugh.
“Negro, please,” Y/N catches his breath and straightens up. “It’s because… I mean…” The shorter athlete trails off, eyeing Shuri up and down, the nerd’s cheeks heating up in the act.
“You know what? Nevermind. I can’t blame you for wanting to try. Hell, I’ve been swimming since 4 years old, the feeling’s exhilarating.” Y/N sighs off into the distance, as Shuri internally gushes at the shorter athlete’s passion.
Suddenly she snaps out of her trance and backtracks on the words of the other girl.
“Can’t blame me for wanting to ‘try’? Are you still assuming I can’t swim?”
Y/N waves his hands in defense. “No! I’m just saying–”
“Well I’m GOING to try out, I’m GOING to swim like a pro, and I’m GOING to get on the team!”
After a brief pause at her sudden outburst of competitiveness, Shuri reels it back in with a small “...respectfully,” and a cheeky smile.
Amused at the nerd’s sudden wave of confidence, Y/N clasps their hands together in accord. “Sounds like a plan then! I guess I’ll be seeing you Thursday then.” The shorter athlete readjusts the duffle bag strap on her shoulder and starts to walk closer to Shuri, laying an encouraging, yet, knowing hand on the taller’s shoulder, and leans into her ear.
Shuri could have sworn she was imagining what was rasped next.
“Word of advice: work on that backstroke… I know I will.”
Y/N then pulls away with an innocent grin and brushes past the appalled nerd, continuing on their merry way, but to suddenly turn around to yell one last thing:
“And your phone’s still on!”
Frozen in place, the girl slowly peers down to her cellular (one she made the mistake of changing the display settings to go into sleep mode after 5 minutes) still on Y/N’s Instagram page.
Once the athlete was out of sight, Shuri’s knees buckled as she grips the nearest wall, releasing a sigh of relief, quickly washed over with a wave of anxiousness.
What have I got myself into?

“Y’know a backstroke is a type of swim move, right?”
Riri chuckles at Shuri as she clicks away on her calculator, doing her homework on her bed. The young prodigy lifts her face from it being buried in her pillow and whines.
“But she said it so… sultry like… and her voice was so… raspy… it felt INTENTIONAL!”
“Or maybe your horny ass misconstrued her words and heard ‘backshots’ instead of ‘backstrokes’!” Riri giggled as Shuri proceeded to throw a pillow at the girl.
“Regardless, either word could be used as an innuendo, she did it on purpose,” Shuri retorts.
“Okay, okay, whatever. Sooo, what are you gonna do?”
Shuri flops back on her bed with a sigh. “I will try out for the swim team, like I said I would. I mean, she sounded so intrigued when I mentioned I was interested, and the passion in the way she speaks about it— I should at LEAST try.”
“Aww, I guess that’s fair,” Riri begins to coo. “If you knew how to swim.”
“Huh?”
“Shuri, I have never seen you TOUCH water unless it was for drinking or an experiment, let alone be EMERGED in water outside of taking showers and baths in it. We’ve had campus water activities and pool days before and each time you’ve said ‘I’m busy, I’m busy.’”
“Well I was, you know I have school work as my top priority.”
“We have them during school breaks, Shuri, you don’t work on a school break!”
Riri releases an exasperated sigh. “Shuri, can you swim or not?” The prodigy gives her friend a hesitant look. “I mean, I’m not the worst at it…”
“Shuri, just say you’re shit at swimming.”
“Fucking hate it.” Shuri blurts out. “Haven’t stepped foot into a pool since I was 6.”
“Damn it, Shuri!”
“You wanted me to be honest!”
Riri chuckles in disbelief, shaking her head. “That’s not even it, Shuri! Swim team try-outs are on Thursday, that’s in THREE DAYS! You barely know how to swim, what makes you think you’ll be ready within the next three days?”
“I’ll figure it out, okay?” Shuri stresses, trying to calm herself down. “I mean, you seem to know how to swim. Why don’t you teach me?”
“One: you dug this silly lil’ hole yourself,” Riri wags her finger at the prodigy, “I’m not helping you with shit. The most I’ll do is braid your hair back the night before so it can fit better in the swim cap you’ll have to put on. Two: I couldn’t teach you even if I wanted to because I wouldn’t have time, I’m stacked up on homework for the next few days.”
Shuri groans in her pillow, flopping back down on her bed once again. The young prodigy felt hopeless with no more ideas left… except for one last hope.
“No.”
“C’mon, brother! This is my love life on the line!”
T’Challa chuckles, crossing his arms. “You got yourself into this mess when you knew you couldn’t swim.” He raises is hands in defense. “You have a death wish, I am not helping you.”
“But that’s what Riri said!” Shuri whines.
“Well Riri is a good friend, keep her around. As for me, I have a gym to organize so I am going to continue what I was doing.” T’Challa does just that as he starts to pick up idle weights off the floor.
“I’ll pay you!”
“I have a job, and you’re a broke college student.”
“But with an internship!”
“An unpaid internship.”
“I’ll be your very best friend!”
“I’m your brother, and I already have plenty of friends.”
“Oh, like that old brute that works alongside you?”
“I heard that, you oversized midget!” A snarky coach M’baku scowls from the connected office.
“I’m 5’5!”
“And I’m 6’5, midget!”
Shuri rolls her eyes waves him off. “You work with that oversized man baby,” she sneers to T’Challa.
The older chuckles as he continues to tune out his sister’s persuasions while he tidies around the ring.
“Brother, please!” Shuri drops to her knees dramatically, rubbing her hands together in impatience. “I’m becoming desperate, I REALLY need your help!”
The younger continues to plead as the older man begins to cringe at the pathetic display, checking his peripheral to make sure she wasn’t causing a scene for unwarranted pedestrians that may walk past the gym.
“Okay okay, I will help you! Just stand up, PLEASE! You’re embarrassing me!” T’Challa quickly reassures the girl on the ground.
Shuri’s pleas quickly halt as she jumps to her feet, showering her brother with “thank you”s.
“Ahh, don’t thank me yet,” the older waves the girl off. “And I’m only going to be RE teaching you the basics. Any extra stunts you want to pull for your little girlfriend besides that will be on your accord.”
“Deal,” Shuri clasps her hands together.
“Now will you please leave me be? I have a gym to attend to.”
“Whatever,” Shuri remarks as she starts to head for the exit, “But just know I will be at the gym pool, bright eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow morning!”
The girl slaps the doorway wall and points at her brother, who both chuckles and cringes at her enthusiasm.
Once the bubbly teen was out of sight, M’baku wheels himself to the office doorway in his rolling chair.
“You know she’s going to drown herself.”
A reluctant T’Challa sighs. “Yep.”
To be continued headass…

It’s been three years since Y/n and Bucky left hand in hand for Wakanda. The first nine months they were there was pretty hectic.
Shuri got her prepped and ready for the deprogramming, which didn’t take as long as Bucky’s. When she was clear of her trigger words that Bucky had read out, just like she read his all them years ago.
Steve let Bucky know that the President had been arrested for his role at Hydra, just after he was arrested he committed suicide. His name was still tarnished and the whole world knew what he had done.
Y/n made sure that his mistress, the mother of his unborn child, Alisha Grey and Baby Grey’s bodies were found and given a proper burial, right next to where her grave lays.
The new President gave Y/n a full pardon and gave her the Presidential Medal of Freedom medal. Stating on national television that Y/n L/n was never a traitor but a hero. A hero that had been saving people’s lives since she was 16 years old and that’s what she should be always known and remembered for. A hero.
The bosses and agents of SHIELD were all fired for what they did to her. Some were even arrested and sent to prison.
The warden of the Raft was arrested and sent to prison for endangering life that he was in charge of and for abuse and neglect, as well as profiting from assaults. He got 20 years.
Hydra had finally been shut down completely, all agents arrested and charged to with life imprisonment.
Y/n and Bucky’s relationship started. After she was given the all clear Bucky didn’t waste a single millisecond to kiss her. Kissing her like his life depended upon it right in front of T’Challa, Shuri, Nakia and Okoye - who all cheered and clapped.
Tumblr media
When the time came for them to go back to their other home, Bucky tried to convince her to stay-
“Doll we have a life here, we’re safe”
“But… then that means we’ll have a normal life”
“And?”
“I-I don’t know how to live a life that’s normal Buck, all my life I’ve been trained to fight from one fight to the next…”
“I know, and my love you’re not alone. I’m right here with you. We’ll do it together I promise living a normal life scares me too but we can continue to be happy here”
She hesitated, what he was saying was true and she knew that. Though she did have to admit she took to farming rather quickly, naming all their goats after members of the team and the bull they had after Fury. She also did enjoy helping out on the markets, bouncing from stall to stall. Loved helping the children with schoolwork and keeping them busy by playing with them when their parents were busy or tired. She especially loved the day she delivered a beautiful baby girl - bless Bucky’s heart he had to hear about it every day for nearly two weeks, in full detail.
She loved the feeling of being free. Free from the pain and suffering she either saw or went through. Free from one order to the next. Free to finally be herself.
But even if she did love that feeling she was terrified off it, what she had told Bucky wasn’t wrong, all of her life the only thing she knew what to do was to fight and to survive.
Wakanda was her home from the minute she stepped foot in the country many years ago, and with Bucky by her side she knew everything was okay, right?
“Okay…”
“Okay?”
“Okay we can stay” Bucky picked her up and spun her around until he lost his footing making them fall to the ground, it didn’t stop him from placing kisses upon kisses to her face.
Tumblr media
The team understood when Bucky and Y/n told them that they was retiring, nor was they surprised by the two’s relationship.
One by one the team followed suit and retired too, all being welcomed openly by King T’Challa and the people of Wakanda.
Each and everyone of them had found happiness.
It’s now the 9th of March 2026, time currently is 11:54pm, their whole family is waiting outside the couples home wincing at hearing Y/n’s screams.
The clock strikes 12:01 and all is heard is the cries of a baby.
Bucky runs out a few minutes later with tears streaming down his face.
“It’s a boy!”

"Whatever you want, don't call me." you said as you threw your kimoyo beads and your engagement ring on the ground before stomping it and breaking it under your heels.
Blinking back tears, you pushed her off you as you turned around and left the lab, slamming the door behind you. Her cries echoed through the room as you picked up your suitcase as you left the palace and wakanda for good.
That was more than 4 years ago. To think you were happy. Marrying into the royal family, a strong bond with both T'Challa and Queen Ramonda but especially the love of your life, Shuri.
You guys have known each other for the longest time, being the daughter of the chief of the Border Tribe, you and Shuri have known each other since birth. Bonding over your love for tech. Not only did you have one of the highest IQ's, you were also one of the strongest warriors Wakanda had. Your mother is a Dora Milage so you trained everyday with them since you could crawl.
Everything was going great for the both of you until Shuri started getting engulfed in her tech work. She worked overtime to prove to the elders that she could also be useful but it angered you. Not because she was expanding her work but because she wasn't making time for you. She dismissed you, she didn't even let you enter the lab sometimes and that was where you worked. Eventually, you got sick of it, sick of everything and just left. For the better. Or was it?
"Miss Y/N, you have arrived." your driver says as you snap out of your thoughts. The car door opens for you as you steop out in white pumps and a black bodycon dress, your curls resting all around you as you straightened your gold chain.
The Dora Milage immediately bowed to you as you noticed your mother smiling at you but your face remained expressionless. You walked into the palace as you muttered under your breath. "i can't believe I'm back here again."
You walked through the palace corridors as you stopped in front of the lab, 2 Dora Milage warriors on either side of the door. You were contemplating entering when you heard 2 women's voices.
Turning around, you were met with Okoye and Nakia looking at you.
Nakia immediately embraced you as you hugged her back, realizing how much you missed your friends.
"Y/N...it pained us so much when you were not there for T'Challa's funeral." Nakia started as Okoye stood still and silent, not looking over to you.
"I was busy...I'm sorry. Send the queen my condolences-" you start but Okoye cut you off sharply.
"The queen is dead." She said, almost as if she was choking on her words as Nakia looked down.
A hand flew to your mouth as you felt your eyes watering. Queen Ramonda was like your mother figure, so caring and loving.
"That is why we asked you here. I'm guessing you didn't read the envelope?" Nakia asked as you tilted your head to the side.
"There was an envelope?"
"Typical." Okoye kissed her teeth as you turned to her to see her smiling.
"Okoye..."
"You know I can't be mad at you for long. Small small girl, come here." She held out your arms as you chuckled, hugging her tightly but when you pulled back, both Okoye and Nakia had serious expressions on their face.
"We need your help Y/N...help the country. Help Shuri." Nakia voiced out as your mood soured when she mentioned your ex's name but she gave you a look. "Please, put your petty beef to the side. She hasn't been herself lately, she's been engulfing herself in her work, you're the only one we know that can help her."
"Is this what you called me for?"
"Not all, we also need help defeating a treacherous villain. Namor. All the information has already been sent to your...iPhone." Okoye said the last part in disgust as you rolled your eyes playfully.
"Sorry ma'am, but it's how you keep up with stuff out of country nowadays."
"I still don't know why you didn't take your kimoyo beads with you. They're great advances."
"Yea but she built em didn't she."
"And it was your design."
"Look, let's not get into battle of the tech here alright?" Nakia said, as she looked between you and Okoye. "Just please help Shuri."
"And the country." Okoye added as you laughed slightly.
You took a sigh and nodded, dismissing them with your hands as you 'promised' to help Shuri. Bullshit, you couldn't give 2 shits about that woman. Your face turned expressionless once more as you entered the lab, startled when a voice started talking out of nowhere.
"My queen, an unknown woman has entered the lab."
"Thank you Griot." Shuri said sarcastically as she didn't even look up from her work.
Your fists balled up slightly. Wow, nothing changed even from when you guys were together. You sighed, maybe you should give her benefit of the doubt, her whole family is gone.
You squinted your eyes, looking around, not knowing where she was.
"What do you want?" her voice came from above and behind you.
You looked up before turning around to see her standing atop some stairs. Your breath hitches, she looks so different than before. She ditched the braids now, her hair shorter than usual. Fades at the sides with curls on the top. It fit her. You took in her white tracksuit and sneakers, tatted hands, and her body got a bit more muscular than last time. She had a ring on her fourth finger. Was she married? The ring looked nothing like your engagement ring and you felt a slight pang in your chest but you shook it off.
You look up to her face but she wasn't even looking at you, she was studying something on her kimoyo beads. Every bit of arousal just disappeared. What an ick, she's still more focused on her work than anything else.
"I was sent to help with defeating Namor."
"Riri?"
"Y/N."
As soon as you said your name, her head darted up as she looked in your direction. You stood still, your hands in front of you as you looked straight ahead, unbothered, which you were.
"Oh uhm.."
"Is Riri your wife?" You ask, motioning towards her ring on her fourth finger.
"Why do you care?" She raised an eyebrow, a stern expression fixated on her face as a frown appeared.
"I don't.." you trailed off as you took note of her face, images of her crying and begging on the lab floor the day you left rushing your mind as you abruptly stopped and shook your head.
"You can go to your quarters, you are not needed here today."
"No thanks, I'll stay. I am here to protect my country, no other intentions needed." You walk up the stairs and right past her as you walk over to your former office and stop, staring in disbelief.
It was decorated with red and yellow and the name "Riri" was spelled out on the wall with an ironman-looking suit standing in the corner of it.
"Of course." You nod your head slightly, of course your office wasn't going to stay the same. She's obviously moved on. You start towards a chair but stop as you hear her right behind you. She grabbed your arm slightly, making you turn around to face her. She still towered over you, even after all this time.
"I got it under control."
"Really? Because if so, Nakia and Okoye wouldn't be begging for me to help you."
Before she can respond, a young woman around our age comes into the lab and looks up at Shuri.
"My love." she said as she ran up to hug her and Shuri hugged her back lovingly, letting go of my arm.
I frowned at the sight and looked away. I shouldn't even be feeling like this, I broke up with her, I'm the asshole.
"Namor...he left a message."
▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱
All 3 of us walked towards the throne room, Shuri in the middle and ahead of us, her hands locked in with the woman who I learned to be named Malia. She wasn't Wakandan but American, you can tell from her accent. I scoffed at this.
The whole time, I stole glances at her. She wasn't even that pretty. Her dress is too short, this is a work area. Is she trying to seduce the elders or what? What's up with those shoes? They're unprofessional. Straightened hair? Really? Americans have no value for their natural hair. "Stop it" i said to myself under my breath. why am i comparing myself to another woman? I don't even care for Shuri, she can suck my clit for all i care.
As we approached the throne room, Shuri took her seat on the throne and I watched Malia sit down in the seat next to her. My former seat. I stood next to the Dora Milage, specifically my mother as I watched the two with hooded eyes.
Okoye pulled out her kimoyo beads where it showed Namor at the border of Wakanda, promising to be back and rid the whole country.
The whole time I was more focused on Malia and Shuri. The way Shuri's hand moved up and down her thigh, the way she looked at her. How unprofessional. And in front of the guards too?
"What is she doing here?" An elder spoke out, causing me to snap out of my trance. Everyone was now looking at me and I put on my best poker face, looking up at them.
"She is still a Wakandan, whether you like it or not." My mother said, standing up for me as I eyed the elder down. I clicked my tongue slightly as he turned away.
After the brief meeting and discussion of what to do, I made my way out of the throne room, right behind Malia who offered to show me to my sleeping quarters.
As we entered my apartment in the palace, I turned to her and raised an eyebrow. "Are you and Shuri married? I need to know whether to address to you as my queen or not." I say, trying to hide the fact that I'm prying for information.
I can see the question catch her off guard as she smiles sweetly at me. "No, not yet. This is just a promise ring, she got it for our anniversary, a few weeks ago, pretty right? She made it specifically for us." She showed her hand as I looked at the ring. It was beautiful and it had the initials "S.M" carved into it.
"Crazy how..if you hadn't left, this would've been you." She said under her breath, her tone sounding less friendly than it was before.
I look up at her, her expression looking more stern as we held eye contact momentarily. It was ice cold and the tension in the room could cut blocks. But then she smiled, her sweet expression coming back to her face.
"That's all, I hope you have a nice stay in Wakanda." She smiled even wider before turning around and leaving the apartment, leaving me to feel unsafe that she knew where I slept.

That night as I pulled my dress down, I heard a knock on my door. I didn't open it, still occupied with my dress. After a few moments, the door opened.
"I thought I locked that door.."
I turned around to be met face to face with Shuri. My dress fell down, and pooled at my legs. The only thing stopping her from seeing my naked body was a white savage x fenty lingerie set which was even more teasing if I'm being honest.
She was silent for a few moments, looking at me up and down before she gulped and then looked back at my face.
"I didn't know you were in here."
She went silent for a few moments before I looked at her puzzled.
"Not even a sorry?"
"For?"
"Practically barging in my room and then staring me down."
"You're in your head."
"Really? We're gonna pretend the Queen of Wakanda isn't in my bedroom, talking to me as I'm half naked."
"It's nothing I haven't seen before." she blurted out as I stand still, stunned at her words and she too also seems stunned at what she just said.
"I.." she starts but I shake my head, turning around.
"I need you to get the fuck out my space." I say and she doesn't respond until I hear the door opening again.
"I'll need to see you again in the morning and discuss some things about the whole Namor situation. Meet me in my lab at 10 AM sharp, don't be late." She says sternly before I hear the door slam shut.
"Shit, 4 years of sexual frustration does something to you." I say, sighing deeply as I pick up my dress, throwing it on my bed before going to my suitcase to grab my pajamas.
I'm going to hate it here, for sure.

Dude I need a hardcore yandere Namor x reader!
Where your Riri’s friend and specialize in chemistry and biology so you know how to make different materials for her and even make money off the side with selling your stuff to the government. And Namor definitely wants to kill you like the scientist but after finally seeing you in person has a change of heart, his mind convincing him it’ll be a waste on someone so intelligent to die, especially someone so beautiful- Namor then rizzes you up enough to manipulate you into staying with him after the war
(Extra points for tension and possessive)
love your work please drink more water 💧❤️❤️❤️
Hi!! Thank you for the request and I’m really really glad you like my work, thank you for supporting me <33 I will try my best with this ask, as I usually don’t write hardcore Yandere, so if it’s not what you expect I’m sorry, but I am a soft girl at heart and Namor is my bby girl <33
Warnings: GN! Reader, Yandere, Violence, manipulation, kidnapping, Namor is dark but not darker than he is in the movie, isolation, punishments, murder, not proofread.
-You were kidnapped along with Shuri and Riri, knocked unconscious by Namora and taken to Talokan.
-Namor takes an almost immediate interest in you, wanting to talk to you and learn more about you. At first, he tries to excuse it as trying to get closer to the enemy, even though he doesn’t treat Riri the same way, but later learns to accept that he thinks that you’re beautiful.
-He accepts the fact that you're a genius, your inventions and experiments are like none other, and it intrigues him. Talokan could use someone like you, it would be a waste to kill you.
-The more time he spends with you, the more infatuated he becomes. Everything about you is perfect, from your brain to the way you act to the way you look, he needs you as his own.
-You plead with him to let Riri and Shuri go, but never beg for your own freedom, and Namor respects how selfless you are.
-Nakia soon comes to rescue the three of you, but as Namor started keeping you in his private hut, she was unable to take you back to the surface.
-You told yourself that they would come back for you, that they were just planning their next move, but days turned into weeks, and nobody ever came.
-Namor took pity on you, he hated seeing such a beautiful person be ruined by the surface dwellers, but he knew that he could use this to his advantage.
-One day, he sat down beside you, taking your face into his hands, and very firmly, yet gently, told you words that you'll never forget.
-"They're not coming for you, my love."
-He 'takes care' of the Wakandans soon after. (Interpret that as you will, if Wakanda and Talokan become allies he convinces them that you're in Talokan willingly, you're too afraid to say differently.)
-Life with Namor isn't spent as a captive, if you can overlook not being allowed to leave Talokan, he treats you like royalty (which you are, he has already made you the other ruler of Talokan through marriage). His touches are soft, and he feeds you only the freshest of fruits.
-Namor has a temper, there is no denying that, many poor servants have been subject to his yelling and wrath after disrespecting him or you.
-Despite this, he never lays a finger on you.
-Punishments? He doesn't like hurting you, his little scientist, but he knows that if he doesn't teach you, you'll stray away.
-He isolates you. You have been down in Talokan for god knows how long, with Namor being your only interaction, as much as you hate to admit it, it's nice having someone to keep you sane. Namor knows this, and uses it to his advantage. Whenever you act up or break one of his rules, he'll ignore you until you're begging for him to look at you again.
-He also makes you watch as he guts some innocent who 'wronged' you in his eyes. Sometimes it's an act of love ('look at what I would do for you!'), other times it's a punishment ('this is what happens to people you get too close to, it's your fault, stay by my side and nobody will have to suffer')
-You'll never see the surface again, he knows that the government will just come after you, he must keep you here to protect you and his kingdom. He's doing this for you!
-If you ever try to escape, god help you.

a/n: it took me two hours and multiple repeats of ‘lift me up’ to write this 🥹
༺♡༻
Another terrible pain struck through your chest, much worse than the one hours prior. Holding your chest and slowly moving towards the side of the bed to sit down, you breathe slowly to ease the discomfort.
After giving yourself time to relax your chest, you grabbed your phone to search what was actually going on with you. You knew that the search engine would highly say death or another illness to be the cause of your pain but your body feels the same after each pain.
A knock on your door interrupted your train of thought and you tapped your kimoyo beads, far too much in pain to stand and opened the door yourself. Riri stepped in with a concerned look on her face, treading lightly towards you.
"Hey girl. Nakia's been looking for you, it's almost time for the meeting." She softly smiled. Riri had met you on the tour she took of the palace with Nakia when she first arrived. She thought you and Shuri were even married but you explained how you were just close friends and looked out for her after her brother made you promise.
"Are the tribe leaders here already?" You asked and Riri nodded, you also nodded and stood up slowly. Your vision turned white for a quick moment before going back to normal, blinking your eyes as if something went into them. Riri would see you double over in pain almost everywhere in the palace but not knowing how to approach the situation, especially when the war with Namor is close.
You lifted your head to weakly smile at her and fixed your stance to pretend as if nothing was wrong with you. "Let's go. We don't want to keep anyone waiting, especially if it's about us." You said, reaching your door and opening it, allowing Riri to walk out first.
༺♡༻
The ringing in your ear had become louder as you tried to listen to what the Queen was saying and what the tribal leaders were suggesting. The River Tribe leader, Zawe, had kept her eyes on you since you had stepped foot in the throne room. She noticed your body swaying and you constantly trying to keep yourself still. Shuri had her eye on you too, seeing you clench your fist repeatedly but thought nothing of it, just you being anxious.
As the Mining Tribe leader finished their statement, the unknown pain struck you again, going from your chest to your head. Your vision going completely white and the room went silent. It was as if your soul completely left your body and you were floating in space with purple and blue hues. On the outside, you let out an ear piercing scream, dropping down to the floor and immediately alarming everyone in the throne room.
Your eyes had turned white and the veins on your body showed and they were a bright purple, almost giving out light. You were shaking and your skin was getting a little pale. Shuri, as horrified as she was, immediately ran to you and helped Riri pick you up and give you to the Dora Milaje, waiting for their command from Queen Ramonda.
Before the queen could say anything, Zawe spoke up. "We need to get her the heart shaped herb. The myth of Bast is coming true." The last few words had brought chills to the other leaders in attendance, including M'baku himself.
The myth of Bast was, like its namesake, a myth that had been around for centuries but was never told to the younger generations by the order of King T'Chaka before his reign, to not have the youth believe in it. Your mother had briefly told you about it and how Wakandans had hope for Bast's return to the great nation.
The myth implied that the spirit of Bast would enter one's body and reveal themselves to be the Panther Goddess, one of the most powerful beings in the universe. The person would experience pain that scientists wouldn't dare research during transformation and gain powers that could make them rule the world if wanted. However, he who told this myth centuries ago had disappeared shortly after.
Until now, not a single soul in Wakanda has spoken about it nor heard anything about it. Until now.
“How? We have no herbs left!” Someone exclaimed from behind Shuri. As if gears had begun spinning in her head, she remembered your private garden that held the desired herb for whenever Shuri could possibly need it. She had given you prototypes to plant as a way to test on whether they’re effective or not.
“Someone needs to go to her room.” Shuri muttered to herself, gaining the attention of Riri who was watching you be placed on the floating gurney, twitching and crying out and it truly pained the pair to see you like that.
“Her room? The hell would she need there?” Riri questioned, a confused expression held on her features. “She’s got a few prototypes of the heart shaped herb planted in her private garden. I’m going to need you to get it and immediately bring it to the lab-”
Shuri was cut off by you screaming once again then moving your mouth with no sound coming out. “Take me to the garden of the herb. Now.” You demanded in a strained voice. Shuri wasn’t usually someone who could easily be scared however she knew that the voice you spoke in wasn’t yours but a completely different one. It seemed to have scared everyone around you.
Riri looked at you stunned and trudged her way to your room quickly, not wanting to witness anything else. Shuri looked back at her mom who nodded and walked to stand next to you. “Let’s go. I can’t bare to see her in pain.” Queen Ramonda instructed. Okoye, Ayo and Nakia were walking next to your gurney as they made their way out the palace. The remaining royals were escorted to the Royal Talon and Riri would be accompanied by Aneka, who was waiting for her by your bedroom door.
༺♡༻
The cave of the garden held an eerie atmosphere as you entered and everyone who escorted you felt a specific feeling that they couldn’t quite pinpoint but fear was laced into it.
You had calmed down however your glowing veins were still visible and seemed to glow brighter the deeper you were in the cave. You stopped before the stone gazebo which also had the sand pit. Okoye, Nakia and Ayo placed your body on the sand, looking at Riri as she rushed to kneel next to your body. Shuri and Queen Ramonda followed Riri and placed themselves next to you.
Ramonda held the liquid above you, chanting to Bast to communicate with you in the ancestral plane and to remove your pain. As you drank the liquid, the deeper your soul traveled to meet the Panther Goddess. All the ladies beside you quickly buried you in the sand, silently hoping that you come back well.
the ancestral plane
You opened your eyes gently to see pink and blue versions of the northern lights and multiple stars literring the sky. You slowly sat up, looking around noticing the trees where panthers rested. You noticed you was in one of the private gardens of the Great Mound, where Shuri’s main lab was, your place of comfort.
One panther in particular, climbed down the tree and stood in front of you. The realisation of you actually being in the ancestral plane hit hard as you started to breathe faster. The panther transformed in front of you, revealing itself to be T’Challa, smiling at you ever so softly.
Tears pricked at your eyes as you looked at him. He had on the royal colours, purple and gold, in a suit with tribal designs. He looked happier than when you had last been in his presence, no longer suffering from the unknown illness. Before he could even speak, you walked up to him and tightly hugged him. It had been way too long since you had last hugged him.
He had said your name and you looked up at him, detaching from the hug. “I want to thank you. You have lifted Shuri up, keeping your end of the bargain.” He grimaced, making the tears on your face fall gracefully.
“Did you keep yours?” You asked, smiling and sniffling. He looked to the side and smiled. “I do look better, don’t I?” T’Challa joked, make you slightly chuckle.
“T’Challa. Why am I here? If anyone should be seeing you, it’s your sister. She needs to be in your presence.” You muttered. “I’m always with her, she just doesn’t want to believe it. You are doing an excellent job at caring for her just as I would. I’m incredibly proud of you.” Hearing those words come from him caused your tears to fall at a fast pace.
“You see now? I barely cry in front of others.” You smiled as you wiped your tears with your wrist. T’Challa smacked his lips and chuckled. “Crying is for the strongest of people. Always remember that.”
He hugged you again, you smelling his signature scent of mango and coconut with a hint of his everyday cologne. “Now, onto your journey here. It was not me who had requested your presence in the ancestral plane, as good it is to see my family here. She will be here soon.” He stated.
“She? Who is she?” You questioned, looking behind him after his sentence.
“You’ll see, she likes to have special entrances whenever she comes around. I do have to go now. Please tell my family that I love them with everything in me.” He requested and you nodded, going for one last hug, this one lasting a little longer.
“Two things before she arrives. Tell Nakia I love seeing her happy and also tell Shuri everything you want her to hear. She’ll listen. Goodbye, y/n.” Before you could even respond to his requests, he transformed back into his panther state and returned to the tree he came from.
Rumbling came from behind you and your instincts told you to look behind you, revealing a much larger panther than the rest with fur that had streaks of purple adorning it. The eyes of the panther were trained on yours, slowly but surely giving you the creeps.
Just as T’Challa, this panther transformed to a woman. A beautiful woman who fit the description of a goddess. The atmosphere around her had shifted to that of regalia. Her skin was a beautiful shade of dark brown with a body that one would kill for. Her facial features were quite young looking as she displayed her dimples and pearly whites. As she walked closer to you, her dark purple eyes remained the same shade as her pantheress form. Her outfit had thrown you off completely, it resembling a Mugler bodysuit that you had recently bought from Paris. Her hair was in a large afro with a purple halo around her head. Her height was that of Shuri’s, both women taller than you.
It clicked to you that you were in the presence of an actual goddess.
The woman stood in front of you was Bast herself.
“Holy shit.” Your mouth had spoken before you could register a sentence in your brain. You had no idea what to do. This was a deity you and your entire country had loved and worshipped for centuries. This was who you placed your manifestations and dreams to. This was who you put your entire trust in. Your whole heart. This beautiful woman who stood before you was arguably the most powerful being in the universe.
“Dearest y/n. It is an absolute pleasure to meet you. I’ve admired your walk of life and how you have carried yourself. You are truly a gem to Wakanda.” She began slowly and her comments sent heat through your entire body.
“Bast..” you whispered. She gently smiled at you. “Ewe, sthandwa.” She replied.
“I know you have your many questions and I’m here to answer however you do have to get back. They’re all waiting for you.” She added.
“Why me? Do I have any significance here?” You asked. “Ah yes! You, my dearest angel, are a true descendant of me. When you were born, you were considered special. You had an aura around you that couldn’t be pinpointed. I chose you for a reason.” The goddess expressed.
“Descendant?” You said stunned, essentially brushing of everything else she said.
“Yes!” She cheered. “Just as my dear Wakandans have theorised, there’s a descendant of mine walking amongst them. Y/n, you have inherited my powers to help others and to protect Wakanda alongside the Black Panther.” She explained.
Before you could even ask about the powers, she continued. “I do apologise for the painful process of gaining your powers but it was the only way. For now, it is your duty to protect Wakanda alongside Shuri. I will guide you through it all through your dreams.”
“Does that mean that..I’m a goddess?” You hesitated and Bast nodded. “In the ancestral plane and the eternal realm, you will be known as Bahati, to give you individuality amongst the others. You are now the most powerful being in the universe alongside the most powerful person in the world.”
As you’re processing everything, certain words had caught you off guard. “Your… majesty, you had mentioned the Black Panther. We don’t have that in the real world.” You mentioned making her smile.
“Oh, just you wait, y/n. The Queen has made lovely progress already as we can already see the future.” She added with a smile, making you more confused than you already are.
“Wait-”
“And do tell the girl your true feelings, we need entertainment around here.” She winked at you and you felt yourself being pulled backwards.
You gasped loudly, drawing the attention of everyone in the cave who was watching you float in mid air. You closed your eyes and saw Bast again.
“Show them who you are.”
You opened them again and you were gently let down on the floor. Looking at everyone around you with shocked faces. The first one to break their facade was Shuri, immediately lunging forward to hug you as if you left forever.
“How long was I gone for?” You whispered in a hoarse voice due to the excessive screaming from before.
“20 minutes, plus minus. You scared me, y/n. I was starting to think that you weren’t coming back. I wouldn’t have anyone to call my best friend-”
“Shuri, I saw him.” You looked at her softly, causing her to pause and look into your eyes.
“Y/n.” Queen Ramonda started.
“He loves you all very much, with everything in him. Shuri, he’s incredibly proud of you.” You smiled, watching Shuri release small tears along with Ramonda and Nakia who appeared in front of you.
“Are you okay though? Seeing you floating and shit was scary.” Riri asked, making you to turn to her and she gasped loudly. “What?” You looked at her confused as she gazed into your eyes as if she was studying them.
“Your eyes…they’re purple.” Nakia pointed out. You couldn’t react, knowing you couldn’t see yourself. Shuri realised your new eye colour and gasped when it went back to your normal eye colour.
“Is it bad timing to ask Griot anything?” Shuri asked and you shook your head, non-verbally giving your permission.
“Griot. please check Y/n’s vitals and database.” She called out to the AI on her kimoyo bracelet, a large screen projecting itself with your hologram on it.
“Of course, Princess. Y/n l/n is a 19 year old black Wakanda female originating from the River Tribe. Her most recent database update includes an influx of supernatural abilities in her blood, it reading that it is the powers of the Panther Goddess, Bast herself. As of 20 minutes, Y/n’s database now includes Goddess status. In the eternal realm of all powerful beings, she is known as Bahati, Bast’s descendant.” Griot finishes, causing the cave to go silent.
Everyone looked at you with faces of shock and confusion.
“Holy shit.” Shuri quietly cussed, her mom gently hitting her arm.
“Shuri!” Ramonda whisper-yelled.

Bucky
“You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, Asa Nusara.” Bucky’s voice was like warm honey laced in gold.
“Your attempt at lying is becoming more unconvincing by the day, James.” Asa replied jokingly, but with a serious tone.
Bucky frowned as the back of his fingers traced over her dark beautiful skin on her cheeks. His thumb runs over her brow bone and then up over her head.
A beautiful black tattoo in the shapes of waves followed over her skull.
He traced those as well.
Asa could feel her heart accelerate as his blue eyes finally found her black ones.
Usually, he would play along with her jokes, but this time, his face stayed serious.
“I’d never lie to you, Ukatana.” He whispers.
The last word dangles in the air. The post coital energy around them envelopes the word tightly, holding onto what’s left of the conviction he’s trying to convey to her.
He feels her bare legs run in between his and she lets out a pleased sigh.
She takes his hand that’s on her face into her own hands and intertwines their fingers together.
Leaning in closer to him, she rests her forehead against his.
She thinks she’s going to fall asleep.
Bucky lets his nose slide against hers, tilting his head just slightly to capture her lips in a soft and gentle kiss.
“You really have to go in the morning?” He asks, pouting his bottom lip like a little boy.
“Ayo and Okoye need me. I need them. We need possession of the orifice necklace.” She states, her authority and dominance showing him that there is no hesitation in the matter, leaving no room for anything to get in the way.
He respected this greatly.
“I’ll be damned to find out why that necklace is so special that you must be away from me for a weekend,” he brings her hand to his lips and kisses the matte black band on the ringer finger. It was interlaced with gold vibranium, “unacceptable. you’ve only been my wife for nine days and I already have to let you go.”
Nusara chuckled.
“Forty-eight hours. It’s barely letting me go.” She leans forward and kisses him again, “I’ll return Monday morning. We have to start packing anyway to go back to Wakanda. Did you forget our beautiful home awaits us?”
“And our little goats.” Bucky adds with a small chuckle.
“The goats are to stay at the farm, James. I mean our home.”
Bucky smiles and nods slowly.
He lets go of her hand and grabs the side of her waist, bringing her in closer to him.
“I know, Asa. I know.”
Asa drapes her left arm over Bucky’s torso and rests her right cheek just over heart.
In minutes, they’re both asleep in his small Brooklyn apartment where they had fallen more in love two years ago.
~
Monday evening rolls around faster than Bucky had thought it would. With packing and getting things ready for his move back to Wakanda, it took up most of his time and it kept him busy.
He had packed most of his things. He left most of Asa’s stuff untouched as to not invade her privacy, nor the Dora Milaje’s.
The black and red cape he was gifted on his wedding day to wear is the last thing he packs away into suitcase before he hears a knock at the front door.
He’s confused as he look at the door.
All his friends weren’t in town so it couldn’t be Sam or Wanda. The Thunderbolts haven’t been together in months, and Yelena was oversees.
Asa never knocked.
Bucky, with the help of his job to the government, had special biometric locks installed at his apartment so she would just use that to get in.
A knock wasn’t necessarily normal so the uneasy feeling he gets is expected.
Letting out a deep breath, he finishes zipping up the bag and stands up on sturdy legs before making his way over to the door.
When he opens it, standing there are Nakia and Ayo holding their vibranium spear, their postures high and head straight.
Standing in front of them is Shuri.
Aside from the formal arrival, what pushes Bucky’s nerves off the edge is Ayo’s obvious tear streaked cheeks.
His stomach sinks.
Hard.
“White wolf.” Shuri’s tone when she calls Bucky his title is sturdy but soft.
He knows that tone all to well.
Bucky ignores her completely, his trained eyes fixing on Ayo. Through much training and durability, she looks strong and powerful, but Bucky’s experience quickly helps him see the falt in her facade.
Her inexperience to hide emotion is in her eyes and the way she is currently blinking.
Bucky has a gut feeling but he won’t listen to it unless it’s said.
He puffs out his chest and his eyes stay on Ayo.
“Where’s Asa and Okoye?” Bucky asks Ayo. But Ayo is staring over his shoulder, unmoving, “Ayo-”
“Sergeant Barnes-” Shuri starts again.
“Okoye is back in Wakanda already.” Ayo responds, cutting Shuri off.
Bucky’s expression doesn’t change but his left eye twitches slightly. He can feel his hand tightening around his doorknob.
Nakia, Ayo, and Shuri step foot into the apartment, forcing Bucky to take a step backwards.
The door is closed behind them.
It’s then, in the privacy and intimate setting of his and Asa’s home, that Bucky’s walls start to deteriorate a little more. His breathing picks up and his eyes are switching back and forth between the three women.
They also are less stiff and Shuri’s eyes soften.
Time goes by slowly as nothing is said.
Bucky’s practically huffing out of his nose now as he take another step back.
“No.” Is all he says. It’s a low growl.
“I’m sorry—” Shuri barely gets her words out before Bucky’s palms goes to his eyes and he closes his lids tightly.
“No.” He says loudly.
“Bucky—” Shuri tries again.
Her words this time are cut off by a very audible shaky inhale through his nose.
Oh, he was going to cry.
They watch as his fingers grip into his hair, his eyes finally opening and gaze gluing down to the ground.
“I’m very sorry, Sargent Barnes.” Nakia.
His face turns into an angry snarl as he turns around.
“Damn it, damn it,” he repeats. His left hand grabs desperately as his hair, “damn it!” He yells so loudly it bounces off the walls.
His vision is compromised now. Water is all he can see.
Pain and anger is all he can feel.
Ayo isn’t one to easily flinch, but Bucky’s kick to the glass coffee table does it for her.
“No, no, no,” he keeps saying to himself. Shuri swallows hard, wiping a lone tear off her face that had fallen during his last yell, “Shuri, no.” Bucky whimpers as he finally turns around to face them. Their heart breaks as they watch him finally burst into tears, “please.”
Bucky looks like he’s moments away from collapsing, his face paling dramatically, when Shuri’s hands goes to his shoulders. She gives him a sympathetic look as she guides them both slowly to sit down on his couch. The shards of glass breaks underneath her shoes and the soft fabric of the sofa underneath them, is the only sound for a few seconds until they are finally next to each other.
He falls apart.
Bucky brings her in for a tight hug.
She swallows thickly as his sobs echo loudly around the room.
They don’t know how long they stay like that.
It feels like hours until he speaks again.
Eyes bloodshot, he stares at his hands between his knees as he picks at them.
He’s also cried out; heart and soul deflated.
“How’d it happen?” He asks, ripping off the bandaid.
His voice is hoarse and he sounds rough.
“We had traced down the orifice. We were just about to enter the chamber it was located in when our entire system was breached,” Nakia states with a steady voice, “it caught us all off guard. He—” she stops right away and Bucky’s eyes drifts from his hands to the space above it. He knows she’s talking about whoever it was that murdered his wife, “It— we don’t know who the figure was—it wore all black, covered head to two, not nearly as skilled but it caught us off guard enough that when they came in—” Bucky’s face twists at this, he almost looks disgusted and physically repulsed by what he was hearing, “she was the one inside —it was fast. Too fast for reaction.”
There’s a long silence. They can feel his fury as Bucky slowly stares up at Nakia.
“You’re telling me,” He sounds menacing and cold, “an incompetent criminal in comparison to the Dora Milaje, caught my wife and her friends off guard enough to kill her in a fraction of a second and escape fast enough for you to not even see who the hell they were?”
His loud voice reverbs around them.
They felt guilty, and just as pained as him.
Nakia swallows thickly and blinks away the tears in her eyes.
“They were fast.”
“I heard you the first damn time!” He screams.
Ayo’s spear comes down hard in front of Nakia as a form of protection.
Bucky stands abruptly and points behind him as he stares at Nakia.
“My wife was in there alone! You let her go in alone! You left her without protection, without guarding her back. You let her with a will of your own step into that room and didn’t think to keep your guard up after a breaching, and watched her get killed!”
A spear is placed horizontally to his throat by Ayo and Bucky swallows hard.
He knows better than to react this way.
These girls weren’t just the most powerful women he had ever known in his life and deserved the upmost respect, especially after what they’ve done for him, but they were his friends.
He’s being emotional and irrational.
“James. Step back.” Ayo says. Bucky does as he is told, more tears falling out of his eyes, “Nakia wasnt even on this mission.”
Bucky looks at Ayo. He sniffs.
“But you were, Ayo.”
Ayo swallows hard.
“I was,” her voice is less uneven, “And what she is telling you is the truth. None of us saw it coming. I don’t think the person that was there even realized we were either. I’m so truly sorry. I know you are in pain, and so are we. If we could’ve prevented it we would’ve, but it happened very quickly. She was killed before we realized someone else was even in there.”
He didn’t know what he wanted to do anymore. As his heart trembled, Bucky wasn’t sure if he wanted to set the world on fire or himself.
He steps away from them and walks over to his window. He looks outside into the Manhattan skyline.
He bites at his bottom lip as he tries to control more bottled emotions.
He refuses to look around his apartment, but it’s hard to when he sees some of the reflection of it in the glass.
It was a reminder that Asa had been here just two days ago, living a domestic life with him.
His heart pains again and he whimpers.
It takes him minutes to realize Ayo had come up behind him and put a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“I’m assuming they got away? Since you don’t know who they are.” They don’t have to verbally respond. The silence is already an answer for him, “and that they got the necklace.”
Pointless mission.
Failed mission.
With a cost- a loss.
His wife.
“How did it happen?” He asks, emotionless.
He had to find out information. He needed it. No matter how hard.
“Gun shot.”
He swallows the knock in his throat and keeps his back rigid, eyes never deviating from the skyline.
“Where?” He asks next. There’s a long silence and he can feel his anger brewing even further. Brewing for the stranger that did this to his wife, “where?”
“Her skull.”
Bucky cringes.
“Fuck.” He breathes out.
He runs a hand down his face.
“And Okoye?”
“Stray bullet grazed her cheek. She’s in recovery.”
~
Bucky’s welcome to Wakanda a week later was much more than warming.
Everyone was heartfelt and kind to him. He appreciated it, he always would from this country, but he also expected no less.
They felt pity for a young widower. For a loss of one of their greatest in their force.
The loss of a powerful woman, the greatest he’s ever known; fallen to a bullet.
He never would’ve expected this. Not in a million years.
The funeral is a nightmare. People greet him as if they’ve known him forever, some he never even knew. They don’t give him space and they mention her name each time.
He could only handle so much.
He hates thinking about it, but her coffin is gorgeous, laced in gold and red vibranium.
He watches, sucking his bottom lip into his mouth, as its lowered to its resting place at the end of the evening, just before sun fall.
Bucky doesn't take off his wedding ring.
He doesn’t think he ever will.
The Wakandans still allow him to reside in the city if he chooses. He’s surprised they’ve even given him an option since what happened with Zemo. Asa had been, for the most part, his plane ticket in.
His and Asa’s beautiful apartment remains untouched and brand new. It grazes the highest of clouds as it overlooks the rivers and hills he’s learned to call home.
Now, this beauty reminds him of his lost love. It physically breaks his heart.
Looking into the bright orange sun, he’s reminded of the stolen nights in the huts.
He remembers their long nights where they would help their goats and sheep give birth to their little babies, when she had taught him how to bottle feed them.
When they had fallen deeply in love and had their beautiful Wakandan wedding.
Being here, in their apartment, without her, felt wrong.
“Hey.” Sam’s voice startles Bucky for a moment before he turns around to face his best friend.
Sam gives him a weak but genuine smile.
Bucky sticks his hands in his pockets and looks back into the setting Sun.
“Doesn’t feel right being here anymore.” Bucky feels that anger again, the one that makes him physically boil.
“What’s next?” Sam asks.
“I’m going to find him, Sam. I’m going to find who did this and stick a knife through his heart.”
~
You
Your life was destroyed at nineteen years old.
Up until then, you served as a Hydra operative. Your father was one and Hyda is all you’ve known. You were taught by them and trained by them. Willingly, you stayed. You worked as a recruited spy, performing mediocre missions for them when needed.
It had been going well for you, until your nineteenth birthday.
You were taken in the middle of the night, drugged and blind folded.
When you woke up, your living hell began.
You woke up in a dark cell.
To your left was a bolted door that probably weighed hundreds of pounds. To the right of that was a little metal bucket.
The stench was unbearable and you were freezing cold.
The walls around you were cement, molded, and so was the floor underneath you. You were terrified as you continued to awaken from your drugged state, finally gathering the energy to begin crawling at the chains around your wrist.
You were chained.
You began hyperventilating.
You became frantic as you tried getting them off.
“Hayden.” You stopped. The voice got your attention and you looked towards the door. It began to creak open. You found yourself moving away from the man, your legs flailing wildly as you tried to get away, but he kept getting closer. “Hayden.” He says again.
“That’s—that’s not my name.” You stutter out, throat dry like sand paper.
“It is now.” He crouches down in front of you and repeats, “Hayden.”
You didn’t have the patience for games.
“Where am I?” You ask, stronger this time.
“You’re at a Hydra facility, agent.”
You frown.
You were being held captive, treated as an enemy. Why were you taken against your will? By your own people?
“I don’t understand. I would’ve just come if asked.”
The man chuckles and shakes his head.
“Not for this,” he leaches forward for a strand of your hair and rolls it between his fingers, “you were chosen specifically for this, but we wanted to make sure you wouldn’t back out.”
You felt pride.
“As long as it’s in the desire of Hydra and helps us, I most likely wouldn’t back out.” You say matter-of-factly.
It’s then that you realize your face is covered entirely. The only thing peaking out are your eyes. That’s why your voice was muffled.
The dark eyed man nods his head.
“You were chosen as test subject zero eight seven six for the orifice experiment.” He says.
You’ve heard of it before.
“Human enhancement, but with the capability of healing and given any power of their choosing, based off placebo and free will. Mental. It’s energy is off psychosis.” You say.
“Correct. Which is why it needs to be a hydra agent. Your power of your choosing will side with our shared desires. Your controlled power will originate from this,” he holds something up in front of you.
It’s a gold chain, and dangling off of it is a red stone, circle shaped.
It shines, its light bouncing off your face.
It was gorgeous.
You find yourself reaching for it naturally before he pulls it away from you.
“We will train you, little girl. Then we’ll begin experiments. But between experiments, your endurance will be put to the test.”
You could only frown as you heard the door open again.
When your eyes landed on the new guest of arrival, a shiver ran down your spine.
You weren’t star struck.
You were repulsed.
Despite the urge to get away as far as possible, his blue eyes were startling in the darkness of the room. They were piercing and hard to look away from.
You had only ever heard about him.
Hydra’s biggest and best asset.
The man who not only surpassed you in every way possible, but believed in everything you didn’t.
It didn’t matter to you that he was now part of Hydra, because in reality he wasn’t.
He, Bucky, believed in everything you didn’t. This man in front of you right now was just a puppet.
You never understood how Hydra could accept that.
You hate everything he stood for as both Bucky and the winter soldier.
You were equally envious of this Weapon as you were disgusted by it.
He had only gotten so close to you before you quickly hocked up what you had in your throat and spat it at his shoe.
“Slap her.” The man instructs loudly, “Enough to hurt, but not kill.”
Oh, bring it.
You grunted before the pain escaped in your skull. Your head fell back against the wall and you could taste the iron in your mouth.
Your vision went black for a fraction of a second.
“Hayden, this is just the start. He will make you endure pain so you can build your endurance and tolerance to it. And you’ll learn to take it.”
You didn’t enjoy this part of your gift.
You spat at the winter soldier’s feet again, this time blood was mixed in with your saliva.
“Hit me again, you piece of shit.” You grit your teeth at the soldier.
The man looks at Bucky and nods at him, and as the soldier is about to hit you, you kick his arm away, making him fall forward. You wrap your legs tightly around his head.
You let out a growl as you began to choke him with your thighs.
“Fight back, soldat.” You grunt through clenched teeth.
The soldier obliged, easily slipping from your grip and wrapping his left hand around your trachea.
You gasped for breath as you stared at those soulless eyes.
Blue like the sky on a sunny day.
Your least favorite kind of weather.
“Tomorrow will be your first dose, Hayden.” The man kicks the Weapon’s leg to let you go, “Soldat.”
You gasped again as his grip left your throat and you were able to breathe again.
“Rot in hell, you disgusting pig.” You say hoarsely through burning pain.
~
You were excited to be Hydra’s next test subject, and it started off well.
After your first dose of the burning drug, you became faster and gained more dexterity. You’ve never felt anything like that very first dose. You were convinced, you were all convinced, it was going to be a success.
But that was also when the accident happened.
You knew it was an accident when it happened, and not intentional, because you knew for a fact that Hydra wanted you in prime condition. They wanted you trained, but they didn’t want anything getting in the way of the experiment failing.
It happened fast.
You had been in the room again with the soldier. Your face was still covered, minus your eyes. You figured they wanted your identity hidden.
Bucky’s eyes never left yours. Not when you were punching him or when he kicked your head.
He had stood up, stepped on your cheek with his boot, and forced your face into the ground.
You’ve never felt any pain like it.
You grabbed his leg, pulling him down onto you when you felt that searing pain in your lower stomach.
You were gasping and breathing as your wide eyes stared back into his cold ones.
What the fuck did he just do?
“Soldat!” The shout came and the soldier quickly pulled himself off of you, knife still in hand.
They had punished him in a severe way that night, as deserved, and you were taken away to the medical wing.
For the first time in your short life, you almost showed a reaction of sorrow when after your surgery the doctor that told you he had shredded your entire uterus.
They had to use 15 litters of blood to keep you stable.
After three weeks in recovery, and being of no use to your people, you were finally allowed to resume training again.
This time, the soldier was only pulled out for you every once in a while.
Each time, you wanted to kill him. Kill him for being a disgrace to existence and for taking away something you never really wanted until it was gone.
After your second dose, you were the same in terms of strength and skill, but when three weeks went by without another dosage, they could sense something was wrong.
You started getting sick.
You were dying.
It didn’t take much for everyone to realize you were being poisoned by the serum.
Wether it was the incident with the soldier that threw it off, it was never confirmed, but suspected.
After your fourth dosage, you got better again, almost like a cure, and you were able to go three and a half weeks without getting sick.
With each dosage you stayed better for longer, but that was all it did for you.
Hydra took you off the mission five months later, choosing they’d terminate the project all together. You weren’t gaining more powers and it was killing you instead.
Issue with that was you now needed the dosage to keep surviving. After your eighth and last dosage at the facility, you’d knew you’d only be okay for two months before your body started dying again.
They promised to help you by sending you what you needed to keep you going. By your first year, you noticed your cure time was no longer prolonging. After each dosage, you’d only be able to be okay for four months before you got sick again.
The feeling you got when you were sick and being poisoned was unbearable.
It’s been ten years, and you still weren’t used to it.
You never had to worry about a lack of shortage or help since Hydra still had smart scientists prepping your medicine for you.
That is, until exactly three months ago when you got the news that the orifice dose was being discontinued due to lack of certain resources.
“They expect me to just die?”
“There is one way. One way we can try. The orifice necklace. Its power is immeasurable. Some of the strongest on earth. Maybe it could even cure you.” Your closest friend, and your favorite Hydra agent partner, Ivan says.
The orifice necklace.
“Gabrïël destroyed that after he found out my mission was a failure.” You say.
“That wasn’t the real one, Hayden. I can tell you where it is, but the issue is, there are others after it now, too.”
“Who?”
“Wakanda. Even some of the lasting Avengers. Other spies working for the government. Sword, even.”
“Tell me where it is. I can get there first.”
The night before you left for Mexico for the orifice necklace, you stared at what little you had left of your medication in your medicine cabinet.
You had two doses left, one which you would need to take in four weeks.
If you didn’t get that necklace soon, you were dead in nine months.
You wouldn’t dare tell a soul, but you were terrified.
Your hand trembled as you held one of the remaining doses.
You didn’t want to die, and least of all, you didn’t want to run into anyone while trying to retrieve it.
One of the people which was a complete waste and a vermin in your eyes.
You took a deep breath, and put the bottle back in the cabinet. You walked back to your room and sat on your bed.
You began looking through your photos on your phone.
It was a photo of you and Leo, your best friend, just a week before his murder.
He was killed by the attack in New York by the Avengers nearly a decade ago.
This was your reason for trying to get that necklace.
You would keep yourself alive for him.
Placing your phone down next you, you then roll up your left sleeve.
A large scar runs down the skin.
He had done that after your third dose.
You had then stabbed him in his thigh. You felt great when you’d done it, but when you were finally alone in your cell, you cried for the first time.
Bucky Barnes.
That’s what his name was.
~
“Get me in, Ivan.” You spoke through your com, “I can get out just fine with my speed, but I need it open first.”
“I’m trying, Y/N. You need to bare with me. Try going a little to your right.” Ivan says.
You roll your eyes and hold your arms a little higher. You had already gotten inside the coal mine and you were standing just outside the chamber, but through the back.
To avoid any possible run ins with the cocky avengers, you both decided this was the best approach.
You were lasering thorough the thick rocks, but the laser was acting up.
Just when you’re about to to complete the circle, it goes out again.
“Jesus, fuck, Ivan.”
“I’m doing my best here. I’m pulling what power I can without the risk of calling attention. Even if that side of the freaks aren’t here, if Hydra even finds out too, we’re screwed. They don’t know we’re here stealing this.”
“Don’t know why they never tried to get it before. Also, do you really think the avengers are even here yet? They don’t have the same power of jets they used to have when their lord and savior Stark was still around. And Hydra will give me a promotion for this. That is, if this necklace really works and actually saves my life.” Your voice drifts our towards the end.
“You’ll be fine.” Ivan says quietly, “Got it!” Just as he says that, the power returns to your laser and it finishes the cut. You keep your left hand on the rock so it doesn’t fall and make a loud noise. You lay it gently down on the floor.
You stand back and look at it.
“I guess it’s big enough for me to crawl through.”
“Make it fast.” Ivan says.
With a sigh you stick the laser in your back leather pocket and crawl down onto all fours. You shimmy your way through the whole and into the chamber Ivan led you to. It’s dark, smells like wet earth, and is humid. Your eyes dart around the room, until finally you find a marble box on a stand on the far right side of the room.
You were thankful for your enhanced eye sight. You knew a regular person wouldn’t be able to see it right away.
You could feel your excitement brewing.
This was your ticket to survival.
You didn’t want to die.
You open the box, and you feel the tears brewing in your eyes when you see it.
A beautiful red stone.
You take it into your hand. You don’t feel different yet, but you figured it takes time.
A very small sound of a foot on a small rock has you quickly going for your gun on your waist.
Pulling your face and hair covering higher over your head, you blindly aim your gun behind you, giving away three shots.
You know reaction is reckless and stupid. Under normal circumstances, you wouldn't haven’t pulled the trigger that soon, or at all. But with that necklace in your hand, you were afraid of losing it.
You were desperate. Your action was irrational as you shot at whatever was behind you, and escaping through your man made hole.
And then you ran and ran in the darkness.
The orifice necklace was right there, right in your hand.
“I have it, Ivan. I have it!” You shouted happily as you ran towards your jet.
“Make it quick, Y/N. I see something here on my radar.”
“On it.” You reply back curtly.
You retrace your steps with practice. The second you’re back in your seat, the sigh that leaves your mouth is palpable.
Ivan’s already in the pilot seat, getting the aircraft ready for take off.
You pull the necklace out of your jacket and stare at it in your hand.
Then something happens.
Your stomach drops.
There in your hand, the necklace begins to unravel into several pieces.
The red stone is the only thing still in tact, but in it is a message you hadn’t seen before.
Nice try.

Bucky
It’s been the hardest month of Bucky’s life since he’s been back.
He left Wakanda the day after the funeral.
He had decided that Brooklyn would be the best option for him.
His first home.
He still hung out with Sam and Wanda, and on occasion he kept contact with Yelena.
Him and Sam were the closest, though. They went on rogue missions together for the government and did their part when needed.
Every now and then, Peter Parker would stop by and say hello. It’s not like Queens was far. A whole different world, for sure, but he was practically a neighbor. Peter was like the little brother Bucky never had. It took him a second to warm up to Bucky, though.
Nobody would ever get closer to him as much as Steve or Sam ever did.
Getting used to life again after Asa was terrible.
Bucky even had to clean his internet history to make it.
They had googled places for puppy adoptions and vacation spots just the days before her death.
Bucky wouldn’t think about puppies for a long time now. Nor any vacations.
He just wanted to be alone.
The scarce missions with Sam helped some to distract him, but he’d still come home tired and depressed.
Everyday he’d try to contact Shuri or Ayo to find out any status of the mystery person from the chamber. When every-time he’d hear the same thing “nothing yet”, he’d do his own research, and also ask Sam for help.
One day, the answer was different.
“Hey, Buck. We’ve got a possible lead.”
He felt several emotions.
Excitement, fear, and anger.
For some reason, the confirmation of an actual killer reminded him that this wasn’t some nightmare he was just dreaming.
This was real.
Bucky had never sped so fast on his motorcycle before. Running a few red lights and nearly getting hit by a suv was the least of his concerns right now.
When he arrives to where the mission meetings have been held lately, Fury is already sitting there with Sam to his right.
“The Orifice Necklace,” Fury starts, a photo of it is on the screen behind him. Bucky eyes it like it’s the most disgusting thing he’s ever laid his eyes on. What was so special about this piece of shit necklace? “It’s a supernatural stone that releases some kind of healing power. Wakanda has known about it longer because of security reasons. They don’t want this in the wrong hands,” Bucky still doesn't understand the hype, but he understands it’s danger now in the wrong hands. Whoever it was that killed Asa really wanted it for some self gain, “Under certain circumstances, they’ve decided to ask us for help. The orifice necklace that was at the chamber in Mexico was a fake. The real one was taken we suspect maybe months before. We actually think it’s in the position of some undercover agent in Sword, which makes this tricky. Reasons for suspicions aren't disclosed other than sword members reporting strange incidents since a few months ago.” Fury says.
Bucky scoffs
“I know, Barnes, this isn’t easy for you—”.
“What?” Bucky practically laughs out the word, “you think going after the person who killed Asa is hard for me?”
“You aren’t to kill that target. That person doesn’t even have it. Their death is no use to us. Bring them in alive and alive only.”
“Are you going to tell me where?” Bucky asks.
“You sure Bucky is the right person for this? He’s too close to this case.” Sam says.
“You’ll both go together.” Fury answers. He turns back to Bucky, “There will be a gala in Venice next weekend. We suspect that the person who knows who has the real necklace, the person from the chamber, will also be at this event,” Fury doesn’t lose eye contact with Bucky when he says the next part very slowly; “We suspect them to be Hydra affiliated.”
Bucky’s jaw clenched and his nose flares.
“I expect no less from an inhumane group of people.” He’d say worst, and he wants to, but he’s feeling emotional again. He quickly rubs his nose over the back of his hand and moves up closer to Fury, clearing his throat, “Name?”
“We only have one name that came up in suspicion, based off an experiment that was done ten years ago. It was in a file we found during one of our hydra facility raids. Experiment Orifice. The subject’s name is Hayden,” Bucky takes in a deep breath as he hears the name for the first time.
“Any distinctive features to watch out for?”
“A scar on their left arm. Starting from the palm to the elbow. That’s all we know.”
“Bucky. You’re really sure you want to be the one to do this?” Sam asks, unsure about this whole thing.
“Who else are we gonna call, Sam? Wanda’s lost her shit. Peter’s a bartender now. Who the fuck knows where thor is. We have no options anymore. Even Maria is dead,” Bucky stands up, “We’ll go.”

The world around you is so much different than the surface world. Life is different. The atmosphere is different. People thrive in this kingdom, people are happy. K’uk’ulkan’s people, which now includes you. It's so beautiful, more than the surface world.
When his people had arrived on the bridge, to kill the 'scientist' the words 'i'll go, just let the princess live' fell from your lips. So quick it was like you hadn't even said it. Still they had agreed, and brought you to his- K’uk’ulkan’s kingdom.
"Holy shit."
Riri's eyes, widened, her expression was full of panic but awe. You couldn't contain the awe on your expression either. You'd found the place to be beautiful, and felt drawn to it.
When he had called for you to see him, an outfit was held out for you. Then you had told Riri to stay and 'stay calm', before leaving to speak to the ruler.
When you met, he’d smiled at you, and it was like all your defences came crashing down, and all you could do was look at him with wide eyes.
His words had snapped you out of your 'trance', which only returned when he had shown you his kingdom. Something you had never witnessed before- words couldn't even describe it.
"This is why I must kill the scientist."
Those words. Words that should have scared you, brought your defences back up...but they didn't. 'Cause all you could do was be on his side. He'd had a way with words, but you could see where he was coming from at the same time.
He'd suffered too long, and only wanted to protect his people.
You'd been pulled into the world of the Wakandan's when the queen had hired you for your technological skills, much like shuri. Just not as advanced as her.
The queen had found your skills to be an asset, and had offered to let you work there because they'd needed 'as much help', despite already havcing a lot of help.
Shuri had become a close friend pretty much straightaway: you'd been there for support when her brother passed, to let her vent to scream to cry. She considered you like a sibling...but you knew it would never be the same as her relationship with her brother, or even Okoye, or Nakia.
Still, after all these years, you felt like an outsider. Which you knew you shouldn't have been feeling like. Never really having someone who understand you...until Namor. Who understood that you knew what it was like to be an outsider amongst others, who only wanted to do what was right.
Namor sits next to you. One hand on his knee, the other by his side. His eyes on you.
"I just want to do what's right for my people..."
Pushing your cape away slightly, you adjust your position.
"...I understand you, Namor. I...understand what that's like..."
He is intrigued. He'd expected you to get annoyed.
"...for most of my life..." you begin, looking up at the ceiling, water reflecting off it like diamonds. "...i've been an outsider. So when I was asked to come and work for wakanda, for the queen, I thought I would feel like less of an outsider.."
Memories of years past flicker in your mind. The times where you'd been privy to conversations between the wakandan's, your friends, had felt special. Only now, thinking back, you still had been an outsider.
"...but I'm not any less of an outsider than when I was before. I’ve…never felt like I’ve belonged..."
You look at him, expecting him to be bored...but there's a look. A look of something in his eyes that says otherwise. He looks down at the water, sighing.
"...I'm sorry you've felt that way, but I understand you (y/n). I know what that is like."
He doesn't look away from the water, but he still pays attention to you.
"...I thought all surface dwellers were different...but it seems like we are more alike than I thought."
Then, he looks at you again, and a smile flickers onto his lips.
You were soon rescued [well not really rescued, since you'd gone willingly] after that, and you hadn’t seen K’uk’ulkan again until he attacked Wakanda. Killing the queen, destroying the rest of Shuri's family, separating Wakanda, forcing you all to flee.
Still as you had stood at the queen's funeral, all you could think about was the feathered serpent god. Hell you were angry for what he did, but at the same time, you'd felt conflicted. Wanting to yell, scream at him, but wanting to give him another chance. Like the chance he had offered you.
When the fight happened between his people, and the wakandan's, he'd been seperated crashing on the desert with Shuri. So you had followed wanting to make sure the princess- the new black panther- would be alright...but also wanting to make sure K’uk’ulkan wouldn't be killed.
By the end of it Shuri had spared him, and he'd yielded. You can still remember that look on his face when he'd seen you standing there...
"I yield."
Shuri nods, and then drops the spear. Offering a hand, which he takes.
Shuri glances over at you, a smile falling on her lips, then she nods. You give her a thumbs up, the other hand pressed to your side to relieve pressure on the large cut running down your side.
You look away from her, then to Namor. Who's standing in the water, but the look on his face makes you absent-mindedly smile.
He nods towards you, and then disappears into the water. It's now that Shuri comes up to you, her hands moving to rest on your arms.
"…I did it…"
You smile.
"I'm proud of you, Shuri."
After the treaty had been signed everything slowly resumed to normal. Wakanda returned to normal, you could all heal. That was all that mattered. Though you couldn’t help but feel like something was missing. No, someone.
[back to 2nd person pov]
The winged god remains in your thoughts, in your dreams, even though it's been weeks. You miss him-despite everything, you miss him. Like crazy. That you wish he would show up one day, would be able to convince you to join him.
Which is what he'd offered you…but maybe his mind has changed.
-
It's a beautiful night. You sit near the shore in silence, hands pressing into the sand softly. Shuri had let you take a few days off to finish healing, though no amount of time would ever heal the wounds you have.
Head tilted back, eyes to at the sky, a sigh falls from your lips. The water has always been calming, to you. Maybe that's why being in K’uk’ulkan’s kingdom sorrounded by water made you feel that more connected. How it had called to you.
Crash. the waves crash, loud. You pull your eyes away from the sky, instead to look at the water. It's dark, but you are still able to see pretty clearly.
Then your eyes go wide, and you scramble to your feet unable to contain the surprise that's so clearly on your face, and through your body language.
A figure emerges from the ocean, silhoutette blanketted by the darkness. The figure walks towards you, a hand pushing back some hair. Then they stop at the edge of the shore, watching as you step back a moment.
"…K’uk’ulkan?"
You want to hug him but refrain from doing so. Instead standing there taking him in since it's been weeks.
"…I…"
The winged god steps out of the water. Brings himself in front of you and you catch how his eyes sparkle in the moonlight.
"…didn't think i'd see you again."
He chuckles, his head lifting up a little.
"I would never leave without saying goodbye…"
and you realise he's right. He wouldn't do that.
"…so…" you reply, a pang of sadness hitting you in the chest.
"This is goodbye…for good?"
Of course it is. Though it's nice he'd come and say goodbye before leaving, at least. Or…that's what you think. He moves closer, bringing a hand out for you to take.
"(y/n)…" once he's holding your hand, he starts to trace lines on your palm.
"…when I offered you to come and live with me, with my people, I was not lying…"
He flicks his eyes back to you.
"…when everything happened I had wondered if you had changed your mind…but I have not."
He moves closer, closing your hand.
"…if you would like to, the offer is still open. I would love to have you in my kingdom, as one of my people."
Then, he lets your hand go, and takes a step back waiting for your answer. Which doesn't come straightaway because you're too busy standing there in shock.
He actually wants you to live there? He thinks you deserve that? K’uk’ulkan trusts you enough to let him back into his kingdom, to live rather than to visit?
He has never trusted surface dwellers, until you. You became the first he trusted, wanted to have in his kingdom. Which doesn't happen at all.
"…you will not be an outsider with me…"
After a moment you take a step towards him, glancing back.
Back through where you had come from, where Shuri had dropped you off. Had wished you well. If you would do this you would be leaving everyone, leaving your home, those you loved. If you join him you'll rarely see Shuri, or anyone else for that matter.
Though when you think back to the times you felt like an outsider, you remember feeling like you belonged more when you had been in that cave with him. All the times you'd seen eachother you'd belonged. Something you have craved for many years.

Shuri x Reader Fatal Touch Part 2
Summary: When your secret is brought to light and threatens to unravel the life you've built. You decide its time to move on and never look back, or at least you try to. Shuri isn't letting you go without a fight
Tumblr media
Queen Ramonda was notified of an unknown breach in security at one of the outreach centers located in Nigeria. This came as a surprise considering how close to home the neighboring country was. In the past whenever France, the U.S., or any other country made a play to steal vibranium. It was always on the outside the continent of Africa, sense it was believed every country there was under the same protection as Wakanda itself. But then again maybe that's why whoever was responsible for this attack chose Nigeria. It was an unexpected and bold move, not to mention it could be the very nation itself responsible.
Either way the mission was the same as all the others. Eliminate all threats, recover any stolen vibranium, and capture all assailants so they could identified. It was a dance the Dora Milaje had been through a number of times, but this was your time partaking in this kind of mission. Your position in the royal guard had always been special. After you revealed your secret to T'Challa not only did he agree to keep it from everyone else including his parents, Nakia, and most trusted guards like Okoye. But he went out of his way to make sure you could serve in the army, while not compromising yourself. He presented the idea to his Queen Ramonda, and King T'Chaka of giving Shuri her own personal bodyguard who would train with only the best warriors.
He made you out to be the perfect candidate voicing how you being the same age as the Princess, and being able to grow up with her. Was more of a benefit rather than a liability Shuri would see you as a friend making it easier for you and to bond and trust each other. The connection between you two would be genuine and unbreakable. It took some conniving, but eventually both of them caved. But with you being such a formidable warrior there were still moments you would go on missions. Most of them were high-level with T'Challa, Okoye, and a few guards. It was important for you to have field experience just in case.
"Is there a specific reason you required my assistance on this mission?" You asked Ayo while switching out your everyday gloves, for the more sturdy ones made out stronger material. Unlike the Doras you didn't have armor. Your mission attire was a simple black vibranium suit that took shape on your body. The same way the Black Panther suit did, but you still put on a extra layer of gloves.
"It was a suggestion I bring you along, and we could use your skillset" she told you.
You snorted "Gee I wonder who made the suggestion."
Your snippy tone had her eyes snapping in your direction narrowing at the comment. You held your hands in surrender and walked around her to join the other Doras on the bench. Ayo let you off the hook shaking her head.
She didn't have to tell you who it was, because the only person the woman took orders from was The General. Who was seemingly absent from such a big mission. Deep down while you wanted nothing more than be angry with Okoye, for once again interfering in your relationship with Shuri. For the second time in less than twenty-four hours you found yourself feeling grateful for her actions. The hurt on Shuri's face when your heartbreaking words reached her ears was still fresh on your mind.
There was no doubt in your heart if you had stuck around a second longer. You would've caved in and took everything you said back. Even it took dropping down on your knees and begging for her forgiveness. You cherished her love more than your own dignity, but Okoye had been right. The Princess deserved to be someone who could love her all the way, and not just halfway. She deserved more than your empty promises, and distance love.
It would be a hard adjustment for both of you, and maybe you would have to stay gone a bit longer. This time for the message to really sink in, but once it did Shuri would finally move on. Seeing her happy and falling in love with someone else was going to tear a hole in your heart. A hole that could never be filled without her, but its what's best for Shuri.
"Are you sure we need her for this particular mission?" Aneka questioned her love. Her eyes were trained on your relaxed form. You were sitting between two other Doras with your head thrown back against the wall of the Talon fighter. Eyes were closed with your breathing steady. You didn't look to be in distress anymore, but all she could think about was all the inner turmoil. You had been going through just an hour ago, and your refusal to share any info on what was causing it.
"Okoye wanted me to bring her" Ayo replied making it clear. Your presence here was never up for discussion. "Is there something going on I should know about?"
"Just keep an eye on her during the fight alright don't let her out of your sight if you can. The Queen doesn't want any casualties on this mission, and that's kind of ironic with her here."
"Are you saying y/n can't show restraint?
Aneka raised an eyebrow and scoffed. "She is an urban legend outside of Wakanda. They call her the Girl with The Touch of Death. I'm not completely sure of how she got that name, but everyone here has heard stories."
"Nevertheless y/n knows her place and will follow orders the same as everyone else here" Ayo said with certainty in her voice, but it wavered a little bit. The second in command wouldn't admit to her lover, or anyone else, but she felt something was off with your aura. She just prayed to Bast it didn't jeopardize the mission.
One Hour Later
The Talon Fighters landed in a discreet location in a wooded area covered by the trees and bush. It would be a ten minute hike to the Outreach center, but it allowed you guys to keep the element of surprise. It was believed the strike team had already managed to get their hands on some vibranium samples, and were in the process of dealing with the scientists and volunteers. It was important that no one died considering some of the volunteers belonged to different countries who wouldn't be too happy with losing an asset.
It was the last Queen Ramonda needed right now.
"Alright is everyone clear on the objective. We move in quietly, spilt up accordingly to locate our targets, and neutralize with minimal force." Ayo shouted to all of the Doras her eyes scanning the small army to make sure everyone was paying attention.
When her eyes landed on yours her face took the form of a frown. Your hood was pulled up along with your mask covering all of your face expect your eyes. They were dark and clouded with despair, still you nodded your head along with the other Doras.
Ayo gave you the west wing of the building to clear out partnering you up with three other Doras. She could feel the waves of dread coming off you, and knew whatever storm had brewing inside of you had only gotten worse. And nothing was going to subside it you were a walking natural disaster at this point. She wished that herself or Aneka could've been in your group, but they had a lot of ground to cover. Makena was the next in line in seniority. She was only a few years behind Ayo in terms of service, and was a excellent order. She was put in charge, and warned to do her best to keep you from getting carried away.
The four of you moved through the halls at a slow, but methodical pace. None of you made any noise with your movements you could hear raindrop hit the floor, or better yet the muffled pleadings of the workers through steel walls. Once Makena was able to pinpoint the exact location of where they were being kept. She rounded all three of you up to come up with a plan of attack. But you had only one plan on your mind, and it was attack. The adrenaline pumping through your veins coupled with your bad nerves. It wouldn't take much to set you off. So when the sound of a gun clicking reached all of your ears, you broke off from the group. Drowning out Makena's panic whispers ordering you to stop.
Your foot slammed into the door kicking it in, and knocking the mercenary behind it to the ground. You counted a total of six armed mercenaries in all, and eight hostages. All of them were huddled in one corner of the lab on their knees, and hands behind their back. The mercenary on the top of the stairs would be a problem having the advantage of high ground. You rolled out of the way as a string of bullets came flying at the entrance. You came up behind a workstation, and grabbed a ball of vibranium a display. You whirled around throwing it with all your strength.
It went sailing through the air striking the mercenary on the stairs right in the face with such force. He flew off his feet and to the metal platform.
Two down. Four more to go.
By now the Makena and the other three Doras had joined the fight. Spinning the spears in unison creating an impenetrable shield that sent the bullets to the ground.
You threw your body forward crashing into another guy, and he tumbled back into the wall. Your hands wrapped around his machine gun that was strapped to his body. You pulled hard on it, twisting your body around using the momentum to bring him with you. He was slammed back first to the floor. The man struggled as your knee dropped down to his stomach causing him to groan in pain. Then your fist struck him in the face once, twice, three times.
A sickening crunch sounded off as you wailed on the mercenary alerting you to. The fact you probably broke his nose, but you didn't care the image of tears falling from Shuri's eyes clouded your mind. So you landed a punch for every single tear she shedded because of you. The man was paying for her pain in the worst way possible. A strong arm wrapped around your neck from behind and yanked you away from the bloody and unconscious man.
Your assailant tightened his grip to the point where your airways were nearly cut off. But the rage coursing through your body made you oblivious to it. You simply snapped your head back hitting the attacker in the face. With a cry of pain his hold loosened enough for you to slip out of it, and turn around.
You followed up with a hard kick to the stomach. He stumbled back right into one of the Dora's spear, and his body lit up with electricity. You still delivered a hard right hook to his jawline dropping him as well.
"Was that really necessary y/n" Makena scolded you disapprovingly.
"He's still breathing ain't he" You shot back with venom in your voice.
"You're doing too much damage. What do you not understand about minimal force?" She jabbed a finger over her shoulder pointing at the mercenary you brutally beat just a few seconds ago.
"I didn't kill anyone so back off" You seethed.
Makena opened her mouth to continue the argument, but one of the other Dora's yelled before she could.
"We got a runner."
Both of your heads whipped towards the door to just in time to see a tall, and lean white man bolt down the hallway. "We were able get a read on him. Makena he's wanted in Wakanda for theft and murder."
Your eyes darkened as you cracked your fingers. "He's mine" You whispered in a low tone.
"Y/N no he's headed towards Ayo I'll let her know" Makena ordered.
"I'll intercept him" You disobeyed orders once again to go into pursuit of the fleeing enemy. The distant words "stand down" barely registering in your mind.
The mercenary had a bit of a head start, and from the route he was taking. You knew he was heading for a back exit leading to the forest. Even though it was still daytime, and there was blue sky was shinning light down. The forest itself was shrouded in darkness from all the surrounding trees. He would have no problem losing you in the twisting paths, and disappearing forever.
You pushed your legs to move faster ignoring the burning sensation in your legs, and right as he reached the door you tackled him from behind. Both of you went flying through the door out into the wet grassy field. He rolled around so he was on top of you, but you brought a foot up kicking him away. He flew back to the ground.
Both of y'all jumped back to your feet to square off with each other. Your mask had been pulled down revealing your face to him. He had to be no older than thirty with dark brown hair, and a chiseled face with brown scruff.
"Aren't I a lucky guy I'm getting to face off with the Touch of Death" He said with arrogance in his voice. It was obvious that he believed this fight was already won for him.
You grimaced at the title never being a fan of it, and wishing that it didn't exist. Your only saving grace was that it never got back to Shuri that you had such a deadly reputation outside of the palace. In the past there had a been a few missions where your grim ability came into play. Eventually you used it enough times, and word carried throughout multiple regions. Until finally people decided that you had to be called something other than your name.
The Girl with The Touch of Death was born and you loathed it.
"Surrender now and maybe I'll go easy on you" You offered him.
"Technically if I surrender you're not supposed to touch me at all" He corrected you.
"Nahhh buddy you ran and I don't got no cuffs on me." You replied shaking your head. "You catching this beat down either way. Its up to you how bad it is."
For a second his confidence wavered as he paused circling you for a quick second. He was contemplated his chances of actually winning this fight, and in the end he must have decided. The odds were in his favor because with a cry of rage. The mercenary ran towards you with outstretched arms.
You moved to the side dodging his wild attack, and brought your leg to kick him in the abdomen. He doubled over with his head snapping to the side from a fist to the face. You danced around him slamming a elbow to the back of his head.
His foot slipped in the wet grass making him fall to the ground. Before he could attempt to get back up you brought your foot down onto his back pushing his body back down. "Its over."
"Is it really?" He asked with a underlying hopeful tone. In your peripheral line of vision you caught his hand grasping at something, and too late did you realize what it was. By the time you brought your arms up to defend your face. The dirt had reached your eyes bringing a painful sting to them. Out of reflex you tried to rub the pain away, and in that split second the tables were turned.
He swept your feet out from under you as your foot left his back, and you went down in the grass with a loud thud. He scrambled on top of your locking his legs around your waist to pin your body beneath his. His evil smile with gleaming white teeth filled your vision, once you were able to open them again. Before you knew what was happening your mouth flew open to gasp for air.
His hands were around your throat squeezing, and choking the life out of you. Eyes widening in anger with a tiny hint of fear you brought your hands up to tug on his wrists. But he was stronger, and your body was weakened. The adrenaline was starting to wear off in an last act of desperation. You brought your knees up to hit him in the back.
"Not going to work Grim Reaper" He laughed leaning down so his face were only inches from yours. His cold eyes filled with victory bored into your panicking ones.
"I heard stories about you all the time" He whispered. "People said death followed you wherever you went. People said you was Wakanda's secret weapon I never believed them.
Your vision was in and out as consciousness started to slip away from you. Somehow his words reached your brain and it sparked one last move from you. The only one you had left with your last bit of strength. You grasped the sleeve of the right glove, and tugged on it till your hand was free. The suit retracted revealing your bare right hand, and you grabbed his wrist again. This time letting your power flow freely no longer keeping it at bay. It answered your call with glee after laying dormant inside of you for so long.
The man didn't feel right away. He just kept cackling away shaking you by the neck every now and then. But then his hand started turning a light gray as his veins popped out. Once the effects traveled up his arm, his hold on your neck loosened a bit. The mercenary frowned peering down to see what was causing his body to shutdown.
A grin crept up on your face as he grew weaker your body was coming back to life. You were getting stronger as you drained the life force from him. Finally the man pulled his hands away from you with a cry of alarm. His skin had wrinkled up by now, and were completely blue and frail. "What did you do?" He cried out in fear.
You sat up taking in as much air as you could refilling your crying lungs. You spun your body around hitting him with a double kick to the face. He landed in the grass on his stomach, and blinded by rage of the near-death experience.
You leapt on his back placing your bare hand back on his face pressing his face to the grass. Your power flared up again, and he let out a wail as his body started to wither away.
"Stop pl-please staaa" his voice trailed off as the life was sucked right out of him. His body went still as his cries were silenced. You rolled off of the deceased man to lay in the grass breathing hard. "Fuck no casualties" you murmured.
"Y/N" a familiar voice called out to you with caution.
In a flash you were on your feet eyes locking onto the intruder. It was Ayo with wide eyes flickering back and forth between the dead body, and you. It didn't take long to realize her eyes were zeroing in on a specific part of your body. Your bare right hand.
"How much did you see?" You asked her nervously. It was a stupid question the way her hand gripped her spear so tight. Her knuckles were straining. The disbelief mixed with utter terror on her face told just exactly what she saw.
But you wanted to hear her say it.
"How much did you see?" You repeated a bit more fierce this time.
Ayo took a step back at the tone in your voice, and gripped her spear in both hands angling it towards you. "You killed him."
"He tried to kill me first" You argued.
"Y/N what was that? What did you do to him?" she hissed
"Ayo drop the spear it's me for crying out loud. I'm not going to hurt you." You insisted partially out of annoyance, but also with hurt. Did she fear you now that she knew the truth?
"How long have you been able to do that?" Ayo continued to question you instead. Her spear twitching in her hand.
In your eyes it didn't matter what you said her mind was already made up. "Oh screw this" You exclaimed and turned around to begin walking deeper into the forest.
Ayo didn't chase after you right away, her mind still reeling from what she just witnessed, and trying to process it. You got maybe twenty to thirty yards away from her, before she started after you calling your name with a sense of urgency.
"Y/N stop that is an order" she demanded just a few feet away from you.
You turned on her with tears in your eyes threatening to spill over. "What for? So you can keep looking at me like I'm some monster. I didn't ask for this Ayo I was born with it, and not a day goes by where I don't wish I wasn't."
"I don't thin-" Ayo began
"lixoki uyafana nje nabazali bam" You snapped cutting her off.
"Your parents" she said in confusion. Like everyone else she was under the impression you had a healthy and loving relationship with your family. So your accusation threw her for a loop.
"They hate Ayo ever since they discovered what I could do. They treated like I was devil in disguise. They dropped me off the trail leading to the palace in the middle of night. Not at the doorstep but at the trail I had to make the hike alone and cold during. The middle of the night at the age of fourteen. What loving parents treat their child like that?
"But you write to them" Ayo argued.
You scoffed "none of those letters belonged to them. I wouldn't be surprised if they packed up and moved after getting rid of me. My parents biggest fear was that the royal family wouldn't want me, and I would be linked back to them. My return was their biggest nightmare" You continued to explain wiping your eyes with your sleeve
"But why lie?"
To keep up with the facade that I came from a happy and healthy home. I had to just like I had to lie in order to make it in my new life. I knew if any of you have found out the truth you would look at me the way you are right now."
Ayo shook her head taking tentative steps forward. "Y/N I'm just a little shocked that’s all I promise."
"I only wanted a family. I wanted to be loved you know, but it was all just a fairytale huh." You said with a humorless chuckle letting the tears fall.
"Is this why you refuse to be with Princess Shuri?" She asked
"How can I be with her when my touch can kill her?"
Her gaze moved to your hands again studying them with fascination. "Is your power always active?"
You shook your head. "No I've gained control over it for most of the part it. But sometimes control slips my mind when I'm emotional or lose focus. My power doesn't kill instantly but I don't how much time I'm taking off someone’s life span. If I use my power on them for even a mere second. I won't risk it with Shuri."
Ayo regarded you with sadness and pity, but you were so beyond that now. "I'll just go alright you can tell them I went missing in action, or died whatever lie you can conjure up. I'm fine with it." You made it all of three steps before Ayo was on you gripping your forearm with a serious expression.
"I am not your parents and you are Wakandan no matter what y/n. You are one of us and I brought you on this mission, so I will be bringing you back home" she declared. "Now if you wish to run away and leave the Princess with questions rather than answers. Once we return then I won't stop you, but for now you're coming home with us."
You let out a sigh "fine but on one condition."
She tilted her head to the side in curiosity, and motioned for you to continue. Her grip tightening on your arm in warning though.
"You don't speak a word of my power to anyone" You told her with pleading eyes.
Ayo didn't give you a dignified answer because saying no would have you trying to run, and saying yes would be a blatant lie. She cared for you and understood why you wanted your ability to stay a secret. But was bind by her duty to report something this big back to her General at least.
"I won't tell the Princess" she finally said after a moment while leading you back to the building.
It wasn't the answer you wanted but it would suffice for now.
Wakanda
"Yo what's up with the Princess today?
Aamina looked up from the chemical sample she was examining to give her attention to. Her friends who were gathered around the edge of the ramp. They were located on the right side of the lab working three levels up. Princess Shuri worked in her usual spot on the first floor in the center of the lab.
She walked over to join them glancing down at her beautiful boss. "She does seem to be on edge today doesn't she."
"She is and take a look around" Kayin said making a sweeping motion with his arm. "Someone is missing from her side today."
A light bulb lit up Aamina's mind as she scanned the entire lab looking for your hidden figure. You were nowhere near Shuri and she didn't see you anywhere else. Joy filled her eyes once she realized you truly weren't here.
"So Shuri is upset and y/n is missing. Do you guys know what this means?" she cheered with giddiness.
Both guys turned to their friend with raised eyebrows, and disapproving stares. "Not cool Aamina it feels different this time" Kayin told her.
"Yeah she isn't just upset she's....." Mosi's voice trailed off as he tried to find the right word to describe Shuri's demeanor. "Devastated" he finished a minute later.
"Which means its final y/n finally came to her senses." Aamina replied disregarding their concern altogether. She could finally make her move without being disturbed.
The sound of approaching footsteps ascending the ramp made all of them swiveled their heads in that direction. Amira entered the workspace dressed in a white lab coat, a dark-blue button-up shirt, black jeans, and black sneakers. Her long black hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail. "Don't you guys have something better to do than gossip. Like I don't know your job we need those samples fully examined by the end of today."
Mosi and Kayin wasted no time in getting up to head back to their desks. But Aamina's attention went back to the sulking Princess as she tried to think of what to say.
"Aamina get back to work or go home. You can dream about Princess Shuri there" Amira ordered.
"Would you chill out" Aamina whined with a hint of anger. She glanced back at her fellow scientist, and the hardened glare that met her had the girl stumbling back.
"Don't forget your place Aamina I'm your superior. I have no problem suspending you for the rest of the week, and restricting your access to the lab for the duration of your suspension."
The threat did the job as Aamina rushed back to telescope to continue her lab work.
After making sure all of them were focused back on the tasks at hand. Amira made her way back down the ramp to head over to the main center of the lab. She paused a few feet from Shuri who was scribbling something in her tablet. Her grip on the stylus was tight and her movements seemed a bit rushed. The emotional turmoil filled the air around her, and it made the girl want to turn around.
Amira took a deep breath, and exhaled for a confident boost. Then she walked over coming to a stop a few feet to leave a comfortable distant between them. "Hey I was going to grab lunch real quick do you want to come?"
Shuri barely looked at her before giving a sharp reply. "No."
"I'm not trying to come onto Princess I'm asking as a friend. A concerned one" Amira insisted.
"My answer is still no Amira go enjoy your break." Shuri told her turning to put her back to her scientist. As she went to walk away a hand took a hold of the back of her lab coat. She whipped her head to see Amira's arm reached out.
Amira knew she was crossing a line and was at risk to loss her job. Especially with the mood Shuri was in right now, but someone had to do something. "I'm sorry Princess its just you could really use the break" Amira started.
Under her sharp gaze she pulled her hand back from the lab coat. "You're not in the best of moods today, and I get it y/n broke your heart again. But that doesn't give you the right to take it out on us. Everyone is walking eggshells around you today because you're a ticking time-bomb."
No one absolutely no one ever had the guts to call Shuri out on her destructive behavior. Especially when it came to you, everyone in her life just gave her space till the storm passed. But it wasn't a storm it was a full blown hurricane, and not a person was spared its warpath.
Shuri was ready to turn that same rage onto Amira for daring to say such a thing, but it dawned on her that the girl was right. This lab had always been her safe space, the perfect getaway for whatever she was going through. And her employees loved their work just as much as she did, and viewed it the same way. Her behavior was tainting that.
Instead of whirling around to yell at the girl like she originally planned. Shuri removed her lab coat. "Griot I'm taking a short break let my mother know I'm out if she comes for me."
"Of course Princess Shuri" The A.I. replied.
Shuri started walking towards the elevator, pausing when Amira didn't follow immediately. "Are you not coming Amira? You are the one who invited after all."
The girl stood rooted in place by shock that her plan actually worked, and the boldness paid off. Amira believed she would be out of a career by now. She blinked a few times before Shuri's voice calling out for her to "come on" registered in her mind. Amira nodded chasing after the Princess.
The Market
Amira and Shuri browsed the market for a short time to see what it had to offer. Neither of them got out that much, so it wasn't often this opportunity came by. In the past you would venture down to the market on your own, and return with a present for her. Nothing to extravagant just a nice token that she would appreciate. When they passed one of the jeweler’s stand. Her hand came up to play with the necklace resting on her collarbone. It was made out of a soft and silky material tied together with a Black Panther charm dangling on it. On the back of the charm was her brother's initials engraved.
Not too long after his death you gifted her the necklace as a remainder that. He was always with her in spirit and to keep him close to her heart. She threw herself into your lap that night in the privacy of her room to break down into tears. It was one of the rare moments where you actually held her.
Amira noticed her fingers fiddling with the charm, and the faraway look in her eyes. "Hey my usual spot is right up ahead come on" she urged her. The objective of this lunch was to take her mind off of you.
It was a nice little cozy restaurant that was buzzing with a younger crowd. The doors were held open by kickstand, and the dinning room floor plan was open. The patrons were allowed to sit anywhere they pleased, and a server would come by shortly.
The chatter went down to surprised gasps as Shuri entered the establishment. The Princess didn't get out much, but after the death of her brother. The sighting of her went from rare to nonexistent. And to see her in the company of one the restaurant’s regulars got the whispers really going.
Amira led her to a booth by the window in the corner for privacy. The tables surrounding it were unoccupied, so they wouldn't have to worry about eavesdroppers. The menus were positioned on the side of the napkin holder. She pulled them out and slid one to Shuri who sat on the opposite side of her.
"My go to is this fruit bowl mixed with meats and vegetables. I know it sounds like a weird combination but it works." Amira told her trying to see if she would try anything new.
"I think I'll keep it simple and just go with the jerk chicken with vegetable rice." Shuri replied in a quiet voice pushing the menu to the center of the table. She could feel everyone's eyesight lingering on her, and it made her uneasy. Even when she did come out in the past you were always by her side, and had methods to prevent prying eyes.
"Hey relax they are starstruck right now. It'll pass in a moment or two I promise" Amira reassured her.
"Yeah?"
"Yes" she promised nudging the Princess's foot with her own.
Thirty minutes later and indeed everyone in the cafe was back to by their own devices. Rather it was focusing on studies or telling stories with friends. Even if they were staring Shuri probably wouldn't notice, as she dug into her food. It had been hours since her last meal, and the way her mouth watered at the sight of the hot and savory dish was proof of that.
"I see even royalty forgets their manners on the right occasion" Amira quipped playfully.
Shuri paused in the devouring the nearly depleted chicken bone to glance up at her. "My apologies dear friend the food here is quite delicious."
"Its okay Princess we've all been there" She told her waving the apology off. Her own bowl of mixed fruit, veggies, and various meats sat in front of her with smoke tendrils wafting up from the heat. She took a few bites letting flavors battle for dominance lighting up her taste buds.
"That really does look good" Shuri murmured
"Do you want a bite? Hand me your spoon."
Outside The Cafe
You watched as Shuri leaned over the table to accept the spoonful of food for Amira. Her eyes lit up as she chewed on the dish a smile gracing her lips.
Just like that in the matter of a few hours the Princess had not only recovered from your words, but she had also moved on with someone one else. At least it wasn't the dreadful Aamina.
Amira really was prettier. She would be good for the Princess you decided, knowing that your love was in good hands. You turned around and walked away for good this time.
Ayo was going to tell Okoye the truth about you, and the General would realize she was right to push you away from Shuri. Eventually the news would reach her mother who in no doubt was going to tell her beloved daughter the truth.
Your time here was up.
A Few Hours Later
It was when Amria and Shuri were on the way back to the palace after a two-hour lunch break. Amira finally felt comfortable enough to bring up a sensitive topic with the Princess. It seemed like storm raging inside of her had passed by now, and Shuri had a bit more pep in her step.
"Shuri if it's okay with you there's something I want to tell you about y/n. Something you need to know" Amira said.
Shuri came to a stop to turn towards her fellow scientist with a raised eyebrow. "Don't take this personally Amira but what could you possibly know about y/n that I don't already know?" She did her best to keep her voice leveled, and not let her emotions takeover but her words came off as a warning.
Amira didn't heed it though. "Its nothing more than a theory based off what I witnessed sometime ago. While you were absent in the lab, and she thought she was alone."
"I don't do theories Amira" Shuri snapped.
"Fine if you don't want to hear it just say that. I just thought you would be interested in the story considering I believe. It might be the key to figuring out why she chooses to love from afar." Amira didn't even get to take one full step, before Shuri was grabbing her arm in a death grip.
"No I'm sorry I want to hear it" She blurted out in desperation. "Please tell me." If there one was equation in her life that seemed impossible to solve. It was the equation of your love, how could your love for her be so strong, yet you fought against it everyday. If Amira had an answer to that she wanted to hear it.
"It happened a few months ago and its going to sound crazy, but I promise its truth" Amira told her. "You were with your mother while y/n was in the lab waiting for you to return. The lab was nearly empty besides me and about two more scientists. But she was standing by your workstation like she always does, and no one else was really in her vicinity. You know I don't know why but something made me look in her direction."
She paused to take a deep breath knowing this next part was going to change everything for you. The young scientist just prayed it wasn't for the worse. You were her friend and the last thing she wanted to do was ruin your life. "Y/N was just leaning back on your workstation when something dropped from the ceiling onto her neck. I'm pretty sure it was a spider."
Shuri couldn't hold back the scoff in disbelief, but motioned for Amira to continue. It didn't seem to faze her at all. She knew how ridiculous it sounded. "She panicked and I know this sounds crazy but the spider kind of just shriveled up, and dropped dead."
"You're saying that y/n killed a spider with her thoughts or something. I don't understand" Shuri said a bit confused.
Amira shook her head. "No it touched her bare skin on her neck, and I mean she didn't glow or anything. But the second she tensed up the creature did too until it was gone. I wasn't sure of what I was seeing until y/n turned around like she knew exactly what she had done. Her behavior afterwards was pretty frantic as she looked around making sure no one else saw what happened."
"And she didn't notice you?" Shuri questioned.
"No I was on a higher level. I think it was her skin it makes sense when you think about it. Why she's always wearing gloves, and long-sleeved shirts. Why she refuses to make skin-to-skin contact with anyone. What if her skin is poisoned or something?"
Just like that the gears in Shuri's mind started turning as the theory registered in her brain. Amira's theory would literally explain everything. You pushed her away whenever she tried to kiss you, hug you, or initiate any type of physical contact.
You were never shy with your words, and Shuri could flirt with you all day without your walls going up. But it was whenever she pushed for more physically you got scared, and pulled away. You were never willing to take your relationship with her to the next stage beyond just words, and longing stares. But why wouldn't you just tell her that? Why keep it from her?
"Griot has Ayo and the team returned from their mission yet? Shuri asked the A.I. in a hurried voice.
"Yes Princess they landed in Wakanda approximately two hours ago" He answered back.
"Where is y/n's location right now."
"I'm sorry Princess but I don't have that information right now."
Shuri frowned "can you get a read on her kimoyo beads?"
"No I believe they have been deactivated Princess Shuri."
"No" Shuri whispered before breaking into a run towards the palace.
The Palace's Armory
"Did you know about this Okoye?" Ayo asked the General after recounting what had happened on the mission.
Okoye stood beside her second-in-command with her gaze focused on the city below. On the inside she was beating herself up all she could think is that she was wrong. She was wrong to come between you and Shuri. She was wrong to assume your issues with love was the product of a broken home. She was wrong to not push you to open up to her more. Now any chance to make up for her mistakes were gone considering. You were probably already gone, and this time it might be for good.
"Okoye" Ayo called her name sharply to bring her out of her thoughts.
"No I didn't if I had do you really think I would've been so hard on her." Okoye finally said turning to her with a look of regret.
"Do you think its possible T'Challa knew?"
If anyone would've known about your secret it would be him. All of the pieces to the puzzle were starting to fit right into place now. It always bewildered her how T'Challa went out of his way to give you special treatment. She still remembered the day he pulled her aside to tell her.
She would be in charge in training you privately, and to respect your attire. He made it clear your main position was by Shuri's side, and you weren't to go on any missions without his approval. All of those rules and restrictions baffled her, but now it all added up. He knew what you were capable of, and did his best to make you feel at home. T'Challa gave you a second chance at a real life filled with purpose and love.
"He knew" Okoye clarified.
"Then why keep it-" Her question was cut off at the sudden bang from the door being pushed open. Shuri came through it leaning up against the wall panting. She was out of breath and sweaty from making the long run from the market to the Palace, and to the Armory. Where she knew Ayo and Okoye would most likely be located.
"Shuri is everythin-" Okoye began to ask, but paused when the Princess held up a hand.
"Where is y/n? I need to speak with her now."
"Shuri it pains me to inform you of this, but I don't think she is here anymore. We have reason to believe she left." Ayo told her.
"I know that I need to know where she would go" Shuri insisted jabbing a finger at the General. "All those years ago when I sent you to go in search of her parents. Did you find them?"
Okoye gave her a slight nod with a frown. "I don't think they're going to be much help Princess. They weren't very welcoming when I showed up on their doorstep asking questions about y/n. The only thing her parents were concerned with was making sure she wasn't coming home."
"I don't care its the only lead we have, and I need to find her. I have to find her. Okay she doesn't get to just walk out of my life like we never meant anything to each other. I don't care if she was trying to protect me from her" Shuri exclaimed.
Her outburst caught both Ayo and Okoye off guard the last of her words making them exchange a look. And the Princess didn't miss it.
"Yes I know about her touch of death now are the two of you going to help me find her or what?"
Locating you was easier said and done. Okoye wasn't kidding when she said your parents weren't going too much help. Six years had gone by since the General tracked them down for answers, and a lot had changed between now and then.
Shuri looked them in Wakanda's database only to discover your parents had went off the grid about three years ago. She searched every nook and cranny looking for a connection to them, but couldn't find one. Without your parents the Princess was at a dead end with your whereabouts.
But she still wasn't going to give up. The state of your room made it clear you left in a hurry. Your drawers were left open with clothes hanging out, and discarded everywhere. The closet door was open with the contents of it in a disarray. Your bed remained untouched. Shuri didn't know what she was looking for, but she tore through your belongings hoping you left something behind. On accident that could lead her to you.
Two Days Later
The trip back to your childhood town took two days with you walking some of the way. Until you came across some travelers who were willing to take you the rest of the way. Since they were already headed in that direction. You made sure to pay them for their generosity once they dropped you off.
The town hadn't changed much in the eight years you had been gone. It was small and local with a few businesses. There wasn't much to do entertainment wise. One of those places where everywhere knows each other, and are friendly to one another. One school for each grade level so all of the kids would grow up together. You didn't know if any of your old classmates would remember you, but you knew some of the older people would.
For that reason you kept your hood up as you walked through the town. Keeping your face concealed as you could feel everyone's gazes following you. Some of the faces struck a cord in your memory tugging on your heartstrings, but you had your destination in mind. And didn't want to become sidetracked for even a second. Also you didn't feel like dealing with the plethora of questions they would bombard you with.
Not too many people ever left this place, and the ones that do hardly ever returned. Unless it was a social visit to family and friends. You weren't a hundred percent sure your parents were gone from this place, and your childhood friends were different people now. There was no way to know if you would even get along with you now, and the last thing you needed was more personal connections.
There was one more ulterior motive for why you were going through so much trouble to keep your identity a secret. If you knew Shuri (which you did) she wasn't just going to let you disappear in peace. Not once she realized you had no intentions of returning this time. She was going to use all her resources to in her search, and putting out a country wide alert for you wasn't off the table.
You prayed to Bast that the one person in this town who really did know and care for you was still here. The old lady never wrote back to you, and you never bothered to do a welfare check on her or anything. You had convinced yourself she was happy to have you gone, and guilt tore through your body.
Because here you was turning up on the doorstep of her house that was still standing in the same location. It was midday so if she was still here she would be cooking dinner by now with some music playing in the background. It took five minutes for you to muster up the courage to finally knock on the door. You didn't want the nosy neighbors alerting the town's guards of some stranger hanging around, and acting weird.
You heard the thumping sound of footsteps approaching the door, and your heartbreak picked up. If it wasn't her on the other side of the door you were truly out of luck, and on your own. Finally the door opened revealing a short mocha skinned woman with curious brown eyes. There were streaks of gray hair mixed in with her original black hair pulled up into a neat bun. A locket dangled on her neck holding a picture of her late husband. She was dressed in blue summer dress with some sandals.
You yanked your hood off showing your face with tears of joy and pain. "Hi Mrs.Hassan its been a while huh."
Her eyes widened in surprise at the sound of your voice. Shock coursing through her body. "Y/N baby is that really you? She asked stepping outside onto the porch to get closer. You let her until she reached out a hand to touch your cheek. At that you jerked your head back avoiding the physical contact.
She frowned as a warm smile graced her lips. "Oh its you alright stop being so stubborn and come here."
You laughed leaning down to wrap your arms around her in a tight hug. And she returned it making sure to avoid touching any skin that wasn't covered by clothing. Your laugh broke down into a chilling cry as your emotions finally caught up with you. Zola pulled back from the hug to lead you back inside the safety of her home.
Where she led you over to the couch so you could sit down, and get all the crying out your system in peace. You buried your face into your arms hunched over. You could feel her rubbing wide circles into your back trying to calm you. But all you could think was Shuri, and how life really wasn't fair.
You spent your entire life telling yourself that you would never fall in love with someone. Not because it wasn't worth the risk, but because you figured no one was capable of loving you in such a way. After all the very people who brought into this world, and was supposed to cherish you more than anything despised your very existence. All you wanted out of life was a purpose, and you found one with the royal family. But falling for Shuri was never part of the plan but the girl made it so easy. Your heart never stood a chance, and now you were thinking that Bast just had it out for you. Why let you feel something that you could never truly have.
"Sweetheart tell me what happened" Zola said softly.
"I had nowhere else to go" You whispered sitting up straight, so you could lean back into the cushions.
"I'm not angry that you're here y/n you have always been welcomed in my home, and you know that. I'm just surprised to see you here its been eight years. One day you were here and the next you were gone for a while. I was terrified those awful parents of yours did something to harm you."
Knowing that Zola never stopped thinking about you from day one made your heart clench. It made you feel even worse for not trying to visit. "I wrote you all the time."
"I know I got the letters" Zola replied nodding her head in the direction of her five shelf bookcase.
You glanced over to see a pile of old letters sitting atop the third shelf. "Wait why didn't you ever write me back?" You asked a bit hurt by this revelation.
Zola arched an eyebrow at your tone. "Baby you never put a return address on a single letter, and your parents wouldn't tell me what they done with you."
Heat rushed up to your face as you looked down slightly embarrassed. It had been your fault she could never reach out to you, but then again you figured she would move on with her life in your absence.
"I didn't know if you would care enough to write back. The letters were part of my cover story, everyone thought I was writing to my parents" You confessed in shame.
Hurt flashed in her eyes as she released a disappointed sigh. There was a moment of silence, and for a second you were worried she was going to kick you out. Now that she knew you had no real intention on keeping in contact with her. But she just asked another question.
"Where did they send you?"
"They took to the capital city to give to the King so I could enroll in the academy for young Doras."
"Ahhhh now it makes sense." But her eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. "No offense but why are you back here now then?"
"i screwed up Mrs.Hassan this stupid curse ruined everything like it always did. You are the only person in my life who's ever been able to see past it, and treat me like a person."
Zola smacked you in the back of the head making you cry out in pain, and scoot away from her. "Young lady I don't ever want to hear you talking like that again. I told you that years ago when I started bringing you over for dinner. Now I get your parents didn't love you, but not everyone else was going to be like them. You never gave people a chance to see the real you sweetheart, and every time someone did. You pushed them away and went running from the hills."
"It was better than letting them find out the truth about me, and then starting treating me like some monster" You shot back.
"But how do you could you know that was going to happen when you never gave anyone a chance?" Zola insisted.
"It wasn't a risk I could afford to take alright. I can't every take that risk even when I want to" You blurted out.
It was your last statement that had her narrowing her eyes at you as she studied you with a piercing gaze. The woman always a knack for being able to see past your words, and find any hidden meanings in them. You got up from the sofa and walked over to stare out the window.
"You let someone in" she breathed.
"Not really she kinda forced her way in by just existing. I didn't know love like existed till I saw her Zola." You told her with a longing in your voice.
"Then why are you here and not out there fighting for her?"
"Because I can't be with her not like this" You snapped whirling around to hold up your hands.
Zola shook her head while getting to her feet. "Y/N when it comes to love sometimes you have to fight no matter what. Even when the odds are stacked against you, and it seems like things can't work. You find a way or make one if you have to, but you never give up. You don't just walk away. That's how some of the greatest love stories are created."
"Sometimes walking away is love, and some of those stories still end in tragedy." You replied making eye contact with her before going on. "I won't let us become a tragedy."
"Two people who are in love with each other, and meant to be together but won't ever get the chance. Because one of you decides it's not even worth trying. It sounds like a tragedy to me" Zola argued.
"Its better than the tragedy where one of us ends up dead" You stated in a low voice.
Zola dropped it knowing that when you got like this there was no point in arguing anymore. You had already made up your mind, and no one could change it.
One Week Later
It wasn't even a question on rather or not Zola would take you in. While she hated the circumstances of your return. She was ecstatic to have some company around the house full-time again. A few of the neighbors would drop by and have tea with her sometimes, and one of the older guards stopped by at least once a week. Bringing her groceries and just to check up on her well-being, but it wasn't the same as having another person living with her.
She had someone to talk to and reminisce with about her younger days, and you loved to hear her stories. Especially the ones about her and her husband. You fit in nicely in your new/old home helping around the house by doing the hard chores. You didn't let her lift a finger when it came to taking out trash, or even picking something up from the floor. Zola started to give you cooking lessons, because if there was one life skill you lacked. It was whipping up any meal that didn't have to be microwaved. Years of living in a royal palace with a team of the best chefs in the world would do that to a person.
She didn't push you on what your plans were for the future, but her heart ached knowing you gave up so much. You thought she didn't notice you stepping away to flip through a small pocket-size notebook, but she did. A picture slipped out one day without you knowing, and when she picked it up. Zola thought her eyes were deceiving themselves.
It was you in the picture with your arm thrown around the Princess of Wakanda pulling her close. Your head was turned towards her lips puckered out nearly touching her cheek. Shuri had the biggest grin in the world eyes closed in anticipation. Waiting for the kiss that would never come.
You didn't tell her your love was the Princess herself, and now that she knew the urge to do something was stronger than ever.
You wouldn't know the elder woman was plotting behind your back till a day later. Zola had gone out into the town to do some light shopping. She left while you were sleep knowing you would insist on tagging alone to assist her in carrying stuff. But leaving you behind was intentional this time.
You were pacing around the house reading the miniature notebook while munching on. A fresh bagel Zola cooked before she left, so you could have a light breakfast. It was then you heard a light tapping on the back screen door leading to the backyard. Your steps faltered as your mind went into high alert.
"Zola that you? You yelled walking into the kitchen. No response just silence but then again it wouldn't make sense for her to use the back door. Maybe it was a neighbor but then why not answer back. It was possible they didn't recognize your voice, and figured you were an intruder. You were pretty sure no one knew of your return yet.
You went over and wretched the door open ready to fend a home invaders just in case. But no one was there the concrete platform was deserted besides her little statues. You stepped outside to examine the open backyard just to be sure. Deciding it was the wind you turned back around to go back inside only to stopped by none other than Okoye.
The General stood in your way blocking the back door entrance with a raised eyebrow. She wasn't in her armor, and her spear was missing from her hand. But you knew none of that mattered she was still dangerous, and it wasn't a fight you could win. Not even you were that good besides she taught you everything you knew.
"How are you here?" You squeaked out the question looking over your shoulder for. The person you knew had to be accompanied with her.
"I think the better question is why am I here, and you should know the answer to know." Okoye said narrowing her eyes at you. "Don't try it y/n."
Of course she knew you were trying to come up with an escape plan. Which meant you wouldn't make it very far.
"She's waiting for you over by the tree" Okoye told you motioning for you to go.
You shook your head folding your hands together. "Okoye please just let me go" You pleaded out of plays.
"I was given orders to do the exact opposite y/n, and even if I wasn't." She paused to soften her facial expression. "I would still do this to fix my past mistakes. I was wrong about you."
You were taken back by her last words not expecting them. "No you were ri-"
Okoye let out a sigh of exasperation reaching out to spin your body around and give you a light push forward. "uhambe mntwana."
You stumbled into the grassy field and looked up to see a figure occupying the swing connected to the tree. You already knew it was Shuri with her back to you. Heart pounding in your chest you covered the distance between the two of you in five seconds.
You wished you had walked slower as you came around into her line of vision. "Princess Shuri" you addressed her nervously.
She lifted her head at the sound of your voice, and a feeling of relief overcame her as she shot out of the swing to hug you. But you retreated backwards denying her.
Shuri frowned "y/n if I have to order Okoye to hold in place so I can hug you I will."
"How did you find me?" You asked ignoring the threat. You knew she wouldn't no matter how frustrated she was with your behavior. It was a boundary she refused to cross.
"Your friend wrote me later telling me you were here making the biggest mistake of your life, and I agree" Shuri revealed.
You threw your head back with a groan, of course Zola was behind this.
'You certainly didn't make things easier no clues not even a goodbye letter" Shuri said offended.
"I figured a goodbye letter would've made things worse. I wanted you to move on."
"Usisidenge" was her sharp reply.
You raised an eyebrow at her. "What?"
"You really are the dummy Aamina says you are if you honestly thought I could just move on from you."
"Well it wasn't too hard to believe after I witnessed your lunch date with Amira. You looked perfectly fine to me" You argued angrily. Turning your head away to hide the hurt evident on your face.
Shuri frowned not knowing what date you were talking about right away. But then it hit her the day she went out with Amira to take her mind off of you, and get her raging emotions under control. You must have saw them after returning from your mission. "How did you find us?"
"Aamina couldn't wait to the rub the news in my face" You whispered a breeze carrying your voice.
Shuri burst into laughter out of nowhere causing you to look at her again. "Is that why you punched her?"
You shrugged your shoulders. "You weren't there to stop me and she was a little too happy about my downfall."
"Well just for the record it wasn't a date Amira was simply trying to help take my mind off you. I wasn't exactly a joy to be around in the lab you know" Shuri told with her laughter dying down.
You didn't know what to say. On one hand you were relieved to know she hadn't moved on you so fast, but showing it would make her think the two of you still had a chance. You were determined to stand your ground on your decision.
"She told an interesting story about you" Shuri went on gaining your full attention.
You rose an eyebrow in suspicion. "And what story would that be?" On the inside you were working yourself into a full blown panic trying to figure out exactly what Amira told her.
"She said she once witnessed you kill a spider with a simple touch, or more so it touched the skin on your neck spooking you." Shuri watched you carefully for your reaction, and even though you tried to hide it. She noticed how the muscles started to tense up.
You swallowed hard thinking about all your options. You could deny but what was the point? Had Ayo or Okoye told her about what you did on the mission yet? In the end you decided to test her knowledge.
"So you know about me? You asked nervously
Shuri gave you a tiny nod settling down back into the swing. "I do."
"Then why are you here?" You asked in confusion.
She let out a dry chuckle throwing her head back. How dense could you be? "I'm here because I love you, and nothing or no one will ever change that y/n."
"But my powers what I can do" You insisted holding your hands up. "Does it not make you see me differently?"
"I mean your ability does interest me from a scientific standpoint, but other than that no you're still my y/n. The one I grew up with who protected me from the monsters under the bed. The one who use to help me prank my brother all the time, and would even take the fall for me when I screwed up. The one who carries me to bed whenever I fall asleep. The one who had my heart from the start." Shuri was on her feet now with each word bringing her a step closer to you, and this time you stayed put.
She took that as a good sign resting her hands on your hip. "The one who I know is still in love with me."
"I lied when I said I didn't belong to you I always have and always will" You replied in a low voice.
"If that's true then come back home let me help you, so we can be together for Bast's sake." She pleaded bringing her hand up to graze your cheek.
It was a ghost of a touch but your body was lit up with fire from the physical contact. You wanted more to lean into her hand to kiss her, but it still wasn't a risk you were willing to take. "You can't Shuri don't you think I've already tried."
"Yintoni ngubani" she demanded to know in a mixture of anger and disbelief.
"The American scientist they call Bruce Banner, or you may know him as the Hulk. When he came to Wakanda for during Thanos's invasion I pulled him to the side, and asked him if there was anything he could do for me. Before we were dusted I gave him a blood sample, and apparently he looked into developing a cure for me. In our five-year absence but he couldn't find one" You explained.
If there was anyone in the world who knew your pain it was Bruce Banner. You heard of his story after the incident in Johannesburg, and while most people hated him for what he did. You sympathized with the both the scientist and the giant green guy.
You was expecting Shuri to take a step back and admit defeat instead she flicked your forehead hard. The sharp sting had you flinching back, and rubbing the sore spot.
"Ow what was that for?" You exclaimed with a frown.
"Isidenge" she muttered under her breath.
"Hey stop insulting me" You complained now full on pouting.
"You dare trust an American scientist's judgement over mine. You seek out the Hulk's help but not mine. How does that make any sense y/n"
"I didn't want you to know Shuri I was scared it would change things between us. I love you to you know I have since we were younger, and I didn't want you to fear me, or to jeopardize what we have."
Shuri shook her head still regarding you with a look of disappointment. Her hand took your chin in a firm grip forcing you to return your gaze. "You're not a monster its not like you use your power to harm people, and when you do its in self-defense. If you want to get rid of it I promise I won't researching till I find the answer."
Out of nowhere her arm snaked around your waist bringing your body closer to hers. You placed both of your gloved hands on her shoulder, and dug your feet into the ground. "Shuri what are you doing?" You asked alarmed.
"I'm going to kiss you" she stated.
"No we can't" You refused.
"I trust you" and with those words Shuri leaned forward connecting her lips to yours, and your eyes went wide with fear as you focused on not letting your power loose. But the feeling of her soft lips pressed to your own made you want to give in. This moment was something you dreamed about on a regular basis. You didn't think the day would ever come where it was reality.
The Princess pulled away with a frown, and you let out a whine. "you can do this y/n." This time when her lips met yours you were ready kissing her back with a careful approach. Your hands moved to cup her face as she deepened the kiss with ferocity. Your body sinked into her own, and she brought her other arm down to your waist encircling you in her arms.
Your lips moved against her in a slow and passionate kiss, both of you savoring this moment. Taking the time to learn what the other tasted like. It was heaven for both of you, and neither of you came up for air until two minutes later.
Shuri pecked your cheek over and over again with an adoring smile. "Come home?"
"I guess I can after all who I am to defy the Princess" You replied with a smile.
Shuri chuckled pulling you into her arms with no intention of letting you go anytime soon.

The pretty little actress of Rogers - Part 9 (Steve Rogers x Reader)
The pretty little actress of Rogers Part 9 - Gala // The pretty little actress of Rogers Masterlist Steve Rogers x Reader Mafia AU Warnings: none
Summary: A room is too small for Kent, Steve and you.
Tumblr media
"I never saw this dress before," Kent says when he sees you leaving the dressing room. The door softly clicks shut behind you. He stands against the wall. He looks good in his dark suit and matching shirt. The watch on his wrist glint as he moves closer. "It's new," you reply. It's from Steve, but you don't tell him that. The dark green mermaid dress contours your body with a heart-shaped cleavage and tight-fitting middle. The soft satin flares below your knee into a mess that gives some extra to your appearance. "So what is it all about?" Kent asks, offering you his arm as you lead him through the hallways to the room that changed into a ballroom for tonight. "It's a small celebration they organize from time to time," you explain to him. "They invite everyone who works here and some people from the audience. You can buy a ticket and support the theater and some other organization. This year a part of the income goes to the animal shelters all around the city." Before you can reach the door, it opens, almost hitting you in the face. "Oh," Nakia gasps. "Sorry. And don't panic." "Why would I...?" You ask her, confusion written on your face, but she doesn't stop to answer you. "Is she okay?" Kent asks, looking after your friend. "I'm not sure," you hum, still thinking about her words. Why would you panic?
Steve stands at the other end of the room with one of your bosses and Sam. The suit he wears matches your dress and highlights the blue of his eyes. An easy smile plays on his lips as he says something, and the other two men laugh. Your gazes meet just for a second.
And you panic.
"Y/N," Kent says your name. "Are you alright?" "What? Yes," you gasp, eyes snapping up to your husband. "I'm fine." "I will get us something to drink," he says, nodding to one of the long tables. "What do you want?" "Whiskey." He frowns. "Since when do you drink whiskey?" You shrug. To survive the night, you need something strong.
While you wait for your drink, you scan the room to keep your eyes away from the blonde man on the other side. Your gaze slides up to the ceiling, watching the bright chandelier in the middle. The diamond-like details shine and glitter over the beautiful scenery. There are tables around the room, covered in white cloth, and candles burn on them. Soft music plays in the background, mixing with the quiet cacophony of the conversations. "Y/N," Wanda greets you with a slight panic in her voice. Your eyes widen in a warning. "I know," you tell her immediately. "Did you...?" "Of course," you scoff. "I thought, how fun it would be if my husband and the man I date would meet." "Well..." Nakia appears at your side, nodding at Steve and Kent talking with each other. "Oh god," you gasp. "I will be surprised if you get through the night without a heart attack." "Me too," you murmur, already beginning to make your way to them. And what is your plan? What will you do? Will you act like you don't know Steve? And what will he do? What if Kent finds out? Maybe a heart attack would be a salvation.
"Oh, Y/N," Kent says your name, pulling you against his side when you reach them. "Let me introduce you." "We already met before," Steve says, and you can feel your heart stop beating for several seconds. His smile is soft and polite, but you recognize the devilish glint in his eyes. He is playing with you. "You did?" Kent asks, looking at you for an answer. "Y-yeah," you croak out. You can barely speak because of the dryness of your mouth. You really need that drink. Right. Now. "I..." "Y/N!" Leila saves you from total destruction. "Leila!" You gasp out his name with too much enthusiasm. "I'm so happy to see you." You turn back to the men. Kent still waits for your answer, and Steve couldn't be more amused at your struggle. "Leila! Uhm, they are friends. Leila is my friend too." Your husband stares at you for a second before nodding. "Okay." "Yeah," you rasp. "Where is my drink?"
-
"What are you doing here?" You hiss at the man behind you over the brim of your glass. You are still standing at the table, trying to calm down and come up with something to get over this mess. "Sam and Leila invited me," Steve replies. You don't even have to look at him to know he is grinning from ear to ear. "Yeah," you scoff. "I'm sure that's what happened." "Why? Can't I be here?" He asks with feigned innocence. "I'm a big fan of acting. Especially when it comes to one actress." You hate that Steve can make you smile even now. "Stop it! I'm angry with you." "I have a few ideas to show you how sorry I am." "Steve..."
-
"How are you feeling?" Sam asks, watching his friend staring at you in the crowd. You stand next to your husband. Kent's arm is around your waist. "I'm fine," Steve hums, taking another gulp from his drink. His gaze never wanders away from you. You are beautiful. He knew you would. The dress leaves your shoulder bare, and Steve has to drink to forget the memory of your soft skin against his lips, on the tip of his tongue. "How?" Sam asks. Just the thought of Leila with another man makes the man's blood boil. He couldn't be so calm and relaxed. Steve doesn't understand himself, either. Of course, he wants to steal you away. Lifting you over his shoulder and never looking back. But there is a small voice in his mind. It's pompous and mocking. He knows the truth. And you know it too. Steve is the one you spend the weekend with. Steve is the one who fucks you so good you don't remember anything else but his name. His name only.
-
"I say goodbye to a few friends," you tell your husband. "I will be at the car in a moment." After a nod, Kent leaves, and you find yourself alone with your coat in your arms. "Do you need help with that?" Steve's voice is soft and quiet. You want to say no, but god, staying away from him the whole night was hard and tiring. "Please." He takes your coat away to step behind you and help it on. Before the warm fabric falls over your shoulders, you can feel his breath against your neck. "You are beautiful," he says. His kiss burns. "I don't know how I kept myself away from you." "I don't know it either," you reply. "What did you speak with Kent?" You turn around to look at him. His eyes shine with amusement. "I told him how beautiful his wife is." "You did not!" You gasp, shocked. "What? I told him the truth." You want to be angry at the man but can't find it in yourself. Being near him but not being with him took all your strength to resist. "Are you free for the weekend?" He asks. "Do you have any plans?" "Many," he says, leaning closer to kiss your lips. It's rough and demanding. Steve wants to remind you how better he is than your husband.
You accept the kiss with a quiet moan but don't need a reminder. You thought of it all night.

Ohh, would you consider doing a Shuri x fem!reader where the reader is abducted n held hostage somewhere and Shuri saves her? I really like the idea of her just being totally unhinged @ whoever is holding the reader hostage but her also being SO SOFT with the reader. TYSM IN ADVANCE IF YOU ACTUALLY DO IT!
⚠️ Mentions of violence, death, kidnapping. | 🏷️ Fluff, friends to lovers, protective!Shuri, kidnapping, soft ending; WC: [2k] | 📑i actually loved this prompt and even though i'm working on 2 commissions right now, i had to do this. i'm sorry if it's short! i hope you like it xx.
Tumblr media
Never for a second Shuri thought she'd ever care about something else again, and then Nakia dropped you into everybody's life.
You.
The comet, the blinding sight that pulled her out of so much darkness—the one that managed to wreck the foundations that rage and grief were building up on her. And now they took you.
Shuri ripped through their defenses.
If someone told her she was swimming against the ocean's strongest current, she would believe them.
It felt that way.
She lounged alone, lost in a trance, without a single care for those who found themselves on her path. All they got was a warning, a single warning, and then Shuri was coming through.
"You have three seconds to get out of my way." The white noise of the fight muffled even their sounds, but their eyes answered her well enough. "I will only warn once."
Some left.
Many got blasted meters up in the air.
There was nothing between the destination point she headed and the knowledge that they took you, I told her she was safe and they took her.
Nothing but the echo of Ayo's words:
"My Queen..."
—the instinctive drop of Shuri's stomach, falling flat on the laboratory's floor, staining everything in red even before she heard the words.
"She didn't leave on her own. It was him. He took her. We already found her location—"
"Where."
"My Queen, the General and I would like to—"
"Where, Ayo?!"
Shuri knew that not even ten minutes behind her, the army of Dora with the help of M'Baku was on their way, tearing apart the defenses of the remaining fighters, but she couldn't wait when she heard.
There had been time for planning, for strategizing, but not for Shuri.
Not for someone who could lose anything, but you.
"They took her thinking they were taking Nakia. I don't believe they kidnapped her for the reasons you're imagining. They think Y/n is the one with the internal information on the Council."
Even the reason why brought her no comfort—it might not have been because of Shuri that you were stuck somewhere underground having the worst experience of your life, but it still happened.
Your security slipped through her fingers, so Shuri sunk her claws into anything that stood between her and getting you to safety.
My baby. My baby...
There was no Shuri being dropped out of the airplane. Not a single trace of the one who once was Princess, who once was Queen.
There was only Panther.
They took my baby.
Shuri realized halfway inside the stupidly large castle that all the reasons she had for keeping you at arm's length and denying the obvious tension that electrified the air every time the two of you were together were lame, useless, and nothing compared to the idea of never holding you again.
Of someone causing you harm.
"My Queen," Griot speaks inside the suit.
"Where is she?" A guard runs towards her as her voice reveals her, and Shuri releases the tension built up in the suit with a stomp of her foot against the ground, sending him flying over the balcony.
"I finished the scan of the inside area, and I found Miss Honey's last bead signals in a certain underground room. It seems to be the most highly secured one given the interrupted electrical waves right around its walls."
"Show me the way."
The smart eyes drop a pin meters under her, and the Panther is going down in a single leap, just as it did when it first revealed itself to the Council.
Shuri feels her deep inside her bones.
Growling.
Trembling...
The impact always amazes her—soft, certain, and easy to make. Instinctive.
She's met with horrified looks of sad, doomed souls who were warned only a brief second ago of the invasion, and they barely have time to lift their weapons before she's dashing off again.
They're too slow.
All of them.
Shuri can almost hear her voice, the memory slipping by over the sounds of screams and fight.
"I like his voice. What's wrong with his voice?"
"Nothing's wrong with his voice. He's just very... white."
"Bast, you're funny. ... Here, listen to this one and tell me you still care."
"... You smell like the perfume I gave you."
"... You knew what to choose."
"Hmmm. It was an easy choice. You smelled sweet the first time I saw you."
"The first time you saw me you'd fallen in a god's trap, and you could barely open your eyes, silly."
"And you'll never let me forget it."
"Not as long as I live. We made a deal that day."
The memory almost makes her take her first hit—she keeps coming back to that day.
Since Okoye put her on the airplane and told her "I'll drop you there, and we will be there exactly when you need us, My Queen," her brain had shut off, and like a good open-theater movie, all Shuri could see were the best bits.
The way you always lean on her, not an ounce of fear on your body—that plays on her head.
The little laugh that only she can pull out of you—it's kept her from killing everything in sight.
Your voice, soft and tasty like sugar—
She rips the door open with the last accumulated energy safe, and the metal flied behind her. That's when she hears it.
All that matters.
"Shuri?"
Praise, Bast. I will give you all the offerings I promised, Bast. "Oh, Bast." Shuri's kneeling in front of you in a second, ripping all the ropes that are keeping you bound. "Honey."
"Shuri," it's a broken, happy sob, and Shuri can breathe.
She can finally breathe. "Yeah. I'm here. It's ok." With the ropes all gone she removes her mask in one go, and it's all she has time to do before you're throwing yourself on her. "Bast, I was worried. Did they hurt you? Are you hurt?"
Even though Shuri tries to pull you back to get a better look at you, your grip on her is strong as vibranium. "I'm ok."
It's right there and then Shuri notices the Panther is gone. "Of course you are." Not literally, but the strength and almost physical presence hanging over her shoulder are lightened. "Of course," her hands both hold you by the nape and the head, squeezing you as close as possible. "I'm sorry—"
"Shut up, I swear." Your laugh is strangled, and without a doubt the best thing she's ever heard. Shuri feels it like the first drop of your honey. "You have nothing to apologize."
"I have some things, but they're not what you imagine."
"Ok. Why are we having a conversation somewhere people can still come shooting at us like savages, though?"
It's Shuri's turn to laugh. "I'm waiting for something."
"What?" it's a whisper, but your voice so close to her ear grounds her back to Earth.
Shuri realizes neither one of you wants to let go. "Okoye."
"You came alone?!" You scream, pulling back from the hug at last.
Saved by the gong, Shuri's spared of an answer when Griot announces, "My Queen—Okoye, and Ayo have officially taken over the main ground. She said you have three minutes to get up there."
Your eyes turn to the mask on the floor and close the mouth that was gaping wide.
"We only need one," Shuri breathes in deeply, and lets out extending her hand. "Let's go?"
You take her hand. "I'm going to scold you so hard on that airplane," your warning tone is so endearing.
It reminds Shuri of other times.
"Why do you keep hurting yourself? Do you realize how difficult it is to hurt someone who's been touched and is guarded by the Panther? Divined by herb? You have to learn to take better care of yourself!"
"You know, it's funny to me. Most people now have this mixture of fear and respect for you—they can sense how wiser and stronger you are, which no one though was possible, but every time you come to me with your alien-related problems and the dilemmas you're carrying, all I want to do is hit you. How are you looking me in the eye and telling me you did this without any supervision? That's dangerous, Shuri."
How had she kept quiet?
"Why are you smiling?" you ask her, a frown taking over your face. "I mean it."
"I know," she replies, her smile getting wider.
"You can't just get in the way of a bunch of assault weapons all on your own," the frown on your face deepens, and Shuri wants to laugh. "Why didn't you wait for them?"
She shakes her head, easily. "Couldn't."
"Really? You couldn't wait the two minutes your highly trained protection army take to come up with a plan?"
On her ear's speaker, a voice comes in. "Ah, this is why I like her. Smart Honey. I agree wholeheartedly with her," says Okoye.
"I really couldn't," Shuri reiterates.
She feels you want to pull your hand away from hers, so she grips tighter and pulls your body until it's only a few inches from her.
"Snarky smile and still no explanation as to why, but fine. Let's go?"
She could go. Instead, Shuri waits for your eyes to make contact with hers. "I couldn't wait a single second," she answers, voice coming out lower. Your eyes always struggle to maintain contact with hers, and now she thinks she gets why. "I told you before: I'm not doing this again."
"Doing what? Wait—are you talking about our deal?"
"The one and only."
"What does our deal have to do with you not waiting for backup?"
"'I'll protect my life first. That was the deal, wasn't it? You scolded me for protecting my planet without thinking about myself, made a speech about how everyone needs me here if I want to protect anything, and this is part of the deal." Shuri has no idea how she only listened to you ranting your heart off and never interrupted you with a kiss. "You're my life, too. I can't wait a second before saving you. That's impossible. "
The look of being speechless is a good one for you.
Shuri smiled again.
"I..."
She laughs when you trail off. "Never thought I'd see you not have words for something—"
Shuri's instinct is the only reason why she catches you.
It's a tsunami—the way you throw yourself without abandon, with certainty that you'll be held; when your lips crash onto hers, Shuri grunts, and takes a step back to stabilize your whole weight in her arms.
You kiss like you do anything else you're passionate about—with the surprisingly gentle care that still reveals that fire that you're made of.
Shuri's never going to stop craving this now.
She kisses back with less finesse than you; a little desperate, and burning up a lot.
It worsens when she hears, "That was adorable, but it means you two truly have only one minute now. Save it all for later, could you?"
Shuri pulls back, and she can tell the second when you realize what's happened.
Your eyes open, staring deep into hers, and it's like an invite in: i can't hide it either. this is what i feel.
Shuri tastes the honey in her mouth. "Hold on to me, baby."
She likes the way you whine at the nickname, and the way she hears her friends laughing in her ear-coms only makes it better.

Weak
Nakia x Black Fem Reader
This is just a lil something from my head, it’s just you being such a softy for Nakia and her knowing so and making good use of it.
“nakia, baby no. i don’t feel like going tonight, love.” you said, grabbing both her hands in yours and placing a chaste kiss on both of them. you could see the disappointment written all over her pretty face, the slight pout on her soft lips highlighted by the full moon that was surely adorning her. she didn’t know what else to do to convince you further, i mean sure she had been short notice on the matter but still, who wouldn’t want to bask in the beauty of the arts as if there was no tomorrow?
“it’s just an art showcase, sthandwa sami. you’ll barely have to speak to anyone, if you even have to at all. i want nothing more than my wife there with me so we can enjoy it together.” she said, placing her hand on your chin so that you eyes could see the pure sincerity behind hers. it was something she always did when she wanted you to truly feel what she was saying. you could feel yourself weakening at her words, you wanted to at least stand on your no for twenty minutes. but at this rate, would you even each ten minutes before she had you right in the palm of her hands?
it was how she knew exactly what to say or do to break your resolve and make you do whatever she wanted of you. you’d be lying if you sad you didn’t do it happily, with a smitten smile across your lips. even if all your friends honed on how she could turn you into a puddle of mush with just her words. “ill go to the next one with you, my love. just please, i want to be in bed tonight.” you whined, snuggling even more closer to the warm covers that were practically begging you to sink yourself under them. “you have all of tomorrow and the next day to be in bed with me.” she smiled coyly, the implication not slipping past you one bit.
you tensed a little at her boldness, something that even after years you still couldn’t help but react the same to. she laughed, finding herself amused at your reaction to her words. she used that as leverage, your wife inching her body closer to yours. making it so that your lips were centimeters apart from her own. “kia, i know what you’re doing and it’s not going to work.” you said, but even you didn’t sound so certain of your own resistance. did you even have faith in yourself?
the answer became apparent when her lips touched yours and you found yourself so caught up in the moment, that you could barely feel her hand pressing you down so that she could straddle you. “please. please. pleaseeee.” she said, each please followed by a quick kiss to on your lips. “ill make it worth your while, my love.” she says, her tone of voice leaving little to the imagination. she guided your hands to her hips, her eyes low as she stared at you with a mischievous glint in her eyes. and you melted, fast.
her kisses soliciting small moans from you. “kia.” you dragged, being completely at her mercy at this point. she loved it too, dragging her finger down your chest. “so?” she asked but the smile on her face showed that she knew the answer. you rolled your eyes lightheartedly. “so what are we wearing?” you said, completely and utterly swooned, brown eyes glazed over with wanting. she giggled softly, placing a quick kiss on your cheek. “mhm, there’s my girl.” she hummed.

Shuri x Black!Fem!reader
Words: 1.4k+
Notes: Part four is done finally. I deadass recorded like the last 50 minutes of the movie just to remember some of the dialogue. I didn’t write till the queen’s death but that will be in the next part. hope yall enjoy!
Part One Part Two Part Three
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You and Riri sit and wait for Shuri to return from her “tour” with Namor. “How come you never told me you were Wakandan?” Riri asks. “I’m sure it would’ve been brought up in a conversation if I had known,” you reply while rolling your eyes. “You also know how to ride a motorcycle? Since when?” Riri persists. “I learned how to ride a motorcycle before I learned how to drive a car, crazy isn't it?” It falls silent between you and Riri.
“You didn’t have to come with me.” Riri starts. “Yes, I did,” you reply with a straight face, “You’re my best friend, and I’m always going to protect you.” Riri looks at you and rolls her eyes, “Are you sure it wasn't because of the Princess?” she jokingly asks.
“What? Nooo.” You say unsurely. “You have a crush on Shuri! I knew it!” Riri loudly exclaims. You stand up abruptly, “How can I have a crush on someone I just met? Let's be serious now.” Riri follows you, “You like Shuri, you like Shuri,” Riri says teasingly. “Whatever. When we come out of this alive, I’ll never talk or see her again anyways.” You explain. You look around until you see Shuri walking toward you and Riri.
“What happened? We can leave, right?” Riri asks. “No, we can’t leave yet,” says Shuri. Riri throws her arms down and goes to sit on the hammock. “Where is the black panther?” You ask Shuri. Shuri cringes, “It doesn’t really work like that anymore.” Riri gives her a deadpan look, “Oh, so when I get kidnapped, there's no black panther anymore? Of course,” she says while rolling her eyes. You interrupt, “I’m sure people are looking for the Princess as we speak, right?”
“Right,” Shuri confirms. You all sit down and try to calm yourselves as much as possible until you hear yelling from the guards. You stand up with Shuri and Riri to see what's going on. One of the guards is shot dead. A woman comes out from the shadows. You see a look of recognition on Shuri’s face. The woman hits the other guard before running to all of you.
“We have to go,” she demands. Shuri rushes to the guard on the floor, “Give me your beads. I can save her,” she exclaims. The woman hurriedly grabs Shuri, but she continues to protest. “Maybe we should leave with the woman who saved us,” Riri argues. “You don't understand this means war!” Shuri protests as the three of you follow the woman.
You escape with Riri and Shuri on what you can only describe as an underwater jet ski, with the woman piloting it. As you reach the surface, an airship hovers above, beaming a blue field around your body that causes you to levitate into the ship.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You and Riri stand on the ship's side with whom you learn to be Nakia, comforting the two of you.
“Mother, I am okay,” Shuri says, comforting her mother. Queen Ramonda looks at Nakia and whispers, “Thank you.” Shuri walks over to you and Riri, “We are on our way to Wakanda. You both will be safe when we are there.”
You arrive in Wakanda, and you and Riri are escorted to a separate room to decompress.  As you enter the room, you see two blue jumpsuits waiting on separate beds for you and Riri.
“Ooh, we get special treatment here.” Riri squeals.  You hold up the jumpsuit with disgust, “They gave us prisoner uniforms.”
“Stop being dramatic. The Queen is offering her home for us to stay in. Wear the jumpsuit and be grateful.” Riri scolds you.
You go into the bathroom while Riri changes into the bedroom. You’re looking at yourself in the mirror until you hear a knock on the door. Riri answers. As you walk out of the bathroom, you notice it’s Princess Shuri. She stops and stares at you with a look you couldn’t describe, “Wow, you look really good,” she says. Riri raised a brow while looking at you and Shuri. The princess notices, “I mean, you both look really good,” she corrects herself.
“Oh, thank you, Princess. I was just telling Riri how much I loved this outfit,” you lie.
Riri’s mouth dropped open; this bitch.
You glance at Riri with a sly grin before focusing back on Shuri.
“So,” Shuri says awkwardly, “Riri, my mother wants to talk to you in person, so guards are waiting outside who are ready to take you to her.” Shuri continues, “I would like to talk with Y/N briefly, but we will meet in my lab.” Riri nods and walks out with the guards.
You turn towards Shuri, “You wanted to speak with me?”
“Yes. I just want you to know that you are always welcome in Wakanda, and if you want to know more about your mother, we will help,” Shuri promises. “I know my mother,” you look disappointed, “at least I thought I did. I don’t understand why she would want to keep this away from me.”
You walk over to the window, “I mean, Wakanda is beautiful. My parents practically lived here their whole lives. I don't know why they wanted to leave,” you continue.
“Okoye used to work and train with your mother. She would be a great help,” Shuri confirms. “Yeah, I guess I’ll talk to her…Eventually,”  you confirm. You both sit in comfortable silence.
“You want to see my lab?” Shuri smiles.  You giggle lightly, “Of course, Princess.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You and Shuri walk down the hallway to her lab, “I wanted to show you and Riri my lab. I can only assume Namor will be preparing to attack us soon. You both can help Wakanda prepare,” Shuri states.
“Of course. It’s the least we can do since you saved us,” you agree. You approach a door, and Shuri opens it.
“Welcome to my lab.”
“Wow, this is…this is a lot,” you look around in awe. “I meant to ask, what is it that you study at MIT?” Shuri asks. “I study biological engineering. I honestly didn’t think I would get in, but to be young, gifted, and black, right?” You reply smugly. Shuri nods her head in agreement.
“Shuri?” A woman walks into the lab. “Oh, I’m so glad you’re okay,” the woman hugs Shuri with a sigh of relief.
“Thank you, Aneka,” Shuri replies. “Aneka, this is Y/N. We brought her and her friend here to Wakanda for protection.” The woman looks at you in awe, “You look just like her.”
“Like who?” You ask.
“Amara.” Aneka continues, “We trained together before joining the Dora. She was an excellent soldier before she died.”
“My mother didn’t die. She is very much alive and well,” you countered. You look at the woman with suspicion. They think my mother is dead. Before you can say anything, the lights in the lab turn red. “Shuri, Wakanda is under attack,” Griot is heard throughout the lab.
You hurry to the window to see the capitol being flooded. “Oh shit.” You turn fast towards the two women, “What are we going to do?”
Shuri goes to the window to see what's happening, “Griot activate the Sunbird,” she commands.
Queen Ramonda’s voice echoes through the speakers, “Shuri, where are you?”
“Making my way to the city right now,” Shuri replies.
“Stand down. That is an order.” The queen commands.
“Mother, I’m with Y/N and Aneka. We can provide air support!” Shuri exclaims. You look at Shuri with wide eyes. I can't fly a jet!
“Aneka do not let Shuri-”
“Sorry, mother, you’re cutting out,” Shuri says as she ends the call with her mother.
“Did you just hang up on the Queen?” Aneka asks in disbelief. “Did I just hang up on my mother?” Shuri quips with a smile.
“Come here, Y/N,” Shuri urges you to a sand table, “You know how to point and shoot, right?”
“Yes?” You reply. A machine gun made out of sand appears on the table. “Griot will be controlling the jet. You just shoot,” Shuri instructs. A holographic screen is in front of your face showcasing the outside. “You got it,” Shuri walks backward with finger guns pointing at you. She runs off with Aneka.
“I don't!” You reply. You look around at your surroundings, “I just have to point and shoot. That'll be easy,” you speak out loud, “hopefully.”
