Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder House, Narragansett RI.
Like the Chowder Bowl says “it’s always summer at Iggy’s.” This clam stand will always be nostalgic to me and have a special place in my memories and heart!
I love getting the lobster roll dinner at @iggys_ri because it comes with your choice of cold or hot lobster roll. Chowder or Salad and French fries with coleslaw. I always get a side order of Clam Fritters and of course the famous Doughboys! I love getting the fritters bc I can dip them in my chowder!
I did order the cold lobster roll the other day, it was a hot day and I wanted something refreshing. The lobster rolls at Iggy’s are delicious. They have so much meat in eat roll. The #lobstertomayoratio is great, not too much mayo and you can taste the fresh lobster. The roll was stuffed to the brim with meat and the bun was toasted so well that it was crispy and help the meat well. I don’t like when the bun has a soggy bottom (The Greatest British Baking Show reference there!)
The New England Clam Chowder was delicious. They do have a good amount of clams and potatoes in the chowdah. The clam fritters are delicious too, they have lot of clams baked into the fritter. The cinnamon and sugar doughboys are the best way to end a delicious meal. I definitely recommend more than one 😉 the dough is nice and warm too, so it just melts in your mouth!!
Based on presentation and taste of the lobster roll at @iggys_ri I would rate this cold lobster roll a 8.5 out of 10.

Thanks for such a great ask! So I'll return the same;
When's the last time you were on a boat or ship?
Gosh, it has been a long time. The last time I was on any kind of water-going conveyance was in 2019, when I was visiting family in Rhode Island. We took a chartered motor boat into Narragansett Bay in commemoration of our grandmother, who had passed away at age 95 in the past year.
We were off Newport, and this is when I learned that SSV Oliver Hazard Perry was a thing (a sail training vessel built in 2015, after I left RI), and I took this picture of her:

I am planning on visiting Put-in-Bay this summer: much needed boat time and keeping the Perry theme going. :)

in RI there's this rhyme they used to teach little puritan children about the five big islands in Narragansett Bay: "Patience, Prudence, Hope and Despair; and who could forget little Hog over there?"
They have cute rhymes about pigs, I’ll grant them that

Miantonomo, Miantonomoh, Myantonomy. His Mark. (repost from 12.27.22)
Nahaganset (Narragansett). His home along the western shores of Narragansett Bay, in so-called Rhode Island, and into so-called eastern Connecticut. Sachem. In 1640s, appealed to sister tribes to create an alliance against colonizers. Brought to Mass. Bay Colony in 1640 on charges of conspiracy against settlers.  Executed in Mohegan territory in 1643 following tensions with Mohegan sachem, Uncas and the English.
Place names mentioned in this deed, for so-called “Warwick, RI,” signed January 1642, include:  “Sowhanes Bay,” “Copassanatuxett,” “Shawhomet” (spelled as they appear in the document).
His kin: Son of Mascus; nephew to Canonicus; brother to Pessicus; father of Canonchet. His partner: Wawaloam.

Blog Introduction
Who am I?
I'm Ellie (they/them), a bicyclist and game designer.
What is this?
I am doing a 3 week long bike trip from Narragansett, RI to Chicago, IL, starting on Friday, August 11th. This blog is just a place for me to write about whatever thoughts I might have on the journey.
What's my itinerary?
The trip is planned to take 23 days, starting on Friday, August 11th, and ending on Saturday, September 2nd. I'll be biking 50-100 miles most days, with the following days/locations of rest:
8/13: NYC
8/15: Philadelphia
8/19: Washington DC
8/24: Pittsburgh
8/29: Ann Arbor
When will you be posting?
I will be trying to post at least once a day in the evening, but I'll be often camping without internet so I can't guarantee anything.
What will I be writing about?
I plan on writing about whatever comes to mind on my bike rides. This will probably be mostly game design ideas and thoughts, but I expect to also write about my other interests from time to time. I will probably dedicate some amount of my posts to writing about the trip itself, such as things I see or my general attitude towards the trip at the time. Lastly, every daily post will include a short quantitative record of the ride that day (miles rode, time spent, etc.), as well as a count of how many apples I ate that day (there will be quite a few of them).
Get started!

Spain of Narragansett, Narragansett RI.
Linguine with vodka sauce, lobster tail, shrimp and scallops.
I have been going to Narragansett every summer since I was a teenager. My family would get a beach house there and we would go to the town beach, go shopping, go out to dinner and have a wonderful week there! The one place I never went to dinner was Spain. My parents went, other people in our family went but I never did and I don’t know why.
I am happy to say I finally made it to @spainofnarragansett and the food and service did not disappoint!
For appetizers we ordered the Grilled Chorizo and Xula salad.
For dinner I ordered the night special of linguine with lobster, scallops and shrimp. My boyfriend ordered the steak special, which was a 20 oz a Omaha steak. The portions were incredible and we had left overs.
My linguine dish was delicious. I really liked the seafood with the vodka sauce, you don’t always see that together. Most places have seafood with a garlic and lemon sauce, but I liked the vodka sauce. I did like the amount of shrimp and scallops in my dish, I felt like for the price of $36 dollars I did get a lot of seafood. The lobster was already cracked for me, in the picture you can’t tell, but when I flipped it over the tail was able to be pulled out with a fork. The only negative thing I would say about my dish is that the lobster did have lobster poop in it. I wish that part of the lobster was cleaned out before serving it. The lobster meat itself was very flavorful.
We ended the night with two desserts, which were delicious! I would go back to Spain and I would recommend it to anyone who is down in Narragansett or Cranston who is looking for a delicious, and well priced meal.
Based on presentation and taste of the @spainofnarragansett Linguine and seafood I would rate this dish a 8.5 out of 10.

Y’know I’m currently sticking with my headcanon/bet that Charles is from Narragansett, RI but what if the reason why Facebones went on that Arizona rant assuming Charles is the in-universe voice of Facebones anyway is that he is from Arizona and couldn’t resist the opportunity to shit talk a place he was than happy to get away from?

"I've said this before-"I love where I live." Rhode Island is the smallest state, but it surrounds the 2nd largest saltwater bay on the East Coast-Narragansett Bay.
There is a lot a maritime activity year-round, but summer brings some pretty special visitors. This summer it's the Nao Trinidad.
I love old boats and this one is special, a replica of a historic boat, Ferdinand Magellan's Nao Trinidad. Dockside under the fading light of day and the emerging stars of the night."

NEW HAVEN PA-1's LEAVING KINGSTON
The train, which I remember to be "The Senator" for Washington, D.C., is departing Kingston, RI with Pennsylvania RR cars. I am facing the station hidden by the very end of the train and to my right on the other side of the train is the Narragansett Pier RR which terminated at the station building. A turntable was at the station to turn the NPRR engine.

I’m sorry but we’re not teenagers anymore and a lot of political action comes down to our involvement in our government. At what point as a 30+ yo adult do you say it’s okay to wash your hands of responsibility to your fellow man?
I can understand people under the age of 30 feeling particularly overwhelmed, I was in that position once too when I was young and had little access to resources and control.
But for us older folks, we’re the ones with the political sway -- as homeowners, in having established education or careers -- yet so many are hiding behind media to cope with human atrocity?
Is that just a white people thing? An American thing? Because everyone else seems to be concerned and involved.
I didn’t realize that posting about my issues with this is somehow being intentionally harmful instead of being concerned and seeking solidarity with other affected minority groups.  I guess it's a performative guilt trip because I’m a native woman whose family is directly affected by this and I’m finding myself emotionally distraught and wanting other people to care.
I have little native nephews and nieces and cousins who I consider as the same -- my youngest niece is not white-passing and has just turned 4 and I’m supposed to just pretend her future isn’t at threat?
I just have to acknowledge no one actually gives a shit about people like her, or the older girls in my tribe who are definitely going to be suffering because of these rulings? The states of MA, RI, and CT are NOT friendly to people like those in my family, especially regarding healthcare -- no amount of supposed democratic oversight changes the blatant racism and misogyny towards Narragansett women.
My personal experience with New England healthcare was that I wound up with a 9cm cyst on my right ovary because the doctors there failed to acquiesce to my medical needs, at 6cm I was told it would recede and the pain it was causing me was no issue.
As this is a blogging site open to many opinions that should not be shamed I’m going to keep blogging about these things because they affect my family directly.
Write your reps, donate to charity, get out and vote because are midterms are coming up -- and just encourage others to do so as well.
